Well friends while being at a tournament this weekend I was unable to do a ton of painting so I give you pictures of some of my figs.

And we'll wrap up this week with a quick after action report from the Alamo
GT
Not really a batrep per say but some of my observations.
The venue is amazing. Playing a
GT in a bar is a blast and leads to a different kind of atmosphere. Air wasn't too bad either. Some people got smelly but it was a decent temperature all along.
Count as was king. I can't count the number of mish/mash armies. From the 4 colored Rhino
GKs (with bolt pistol scouts for henchmen) to the Ironwarrior "greyhunters" with space wolf long fangs in blood angel rhinos I played round 4, and top that off with the Night Lords Blood Angels.
Judges were easily available. Very rarely did I hear someone have to scream for a judge 2 times.
Terrain was sparse. I was listening in on a few conversations between the
TO and the
BoLS guys, apparently the
TO was strapped for terrain and asked them to bring some more terrain. They showed up with their nice vacuform buildings and everyone was happy. Except these were not evenly deployed across all tables. Some tables got 1, some tables got 2, and a few got 6.
Game 1 vs Grey Knights.
This was the table
Notice anything wrong with it? I played the best
GK player in the country on this... going second. I siezed the initiative and was told by an ass in gold armor to re roll it and failed. I deployed on the table in hopes he'd roll average and kill 2-3 vehicles. He rolled above average and wasted all my rhinos. My turn 1 the rest of my stuff shot a storm raven and it took most of it to down the plane. I called it having only killed the raven. He took secondary and felt bad so bought me lunch.
Game 2 vs Leaf Blower.
Seriously can I get a break here?! I walk up to the table wondering why the Emperor is testing me so much and my opponent says "Hey want a beer" I said "you buy round 1 and I'll get round 2". We then proceeded to have one of the best games of
40k in my life. Being tiehammer (with spearhead for extra tie-ness) we were in for a tie. He reserved 2 vendettas with shotgun/melta/demo vets, and castled up. I realized I wasn't breaking that castle and castled myself but kept semi mobile. I kinda harassed him killed somethings then the vendettas come on. One comes on turboboosting and takes a rifle dread to the face. The vets crash out and get 12" away from the vindicare. They unload with everything and cause 2 wounds, which I save. Queue the twilight zone music because everything that happened in that quarter was not of this world. Crowe charged the vets next turn and set 2 on fire... they SAVED. They strike back and miss. Drawn combat... these things don't happen.
Vendetta 2 shows up, shoots 1 lascannon that misses and Crowe kills the unit. He'd taken out 3 rhinos by the end and the other gets popped in front of his lines. I just can't make it to his flag and we tied. Secondary was get units in non-deployment quarters which I take.
Game 3 vs Dark Eldar.
Usual Dark Eldar but swap the blaster born for splinter cannon born, and wracks for troops. My opponent started by explaining that he "doesn't play
40k much" when ever someone tells you this there's a reason, most times it isn't because they're being honest.
We go through 2 turns of me shooting at his vehicles (flicker fields on all, night shields on the 3 ravagers) and I notice they're not dieing. Like no where near enough, then it hits me not only is he making 50% of his saves... they're not open topped?! I express this and he said "Oh I just thought you knew and was taking everything you told me as the damage." From that turn on his paper planes fell like they should. He also killed a unit with a venom then tried to give the pain token to the unit inside. I won 9 kill points to 5. No one took secondary.
We went out to dinner and saw Avengers.
Game 4 vs Space Wolves.
Well thats what the list said, and it was led by Logan Grimar. However 2 of his 4 rhinos were blood angels and 2 of his grey hunter units were iron warriors/non-
GW models. This game was back and forth. I didn't move as much as I should and was barely able to eke out a tie with a weaponless immobile rhino within 3" of his objective. He took secondary.
Game 5 vs Blood Angels.
3 las/
plas backs, 1 assault cannon back, raven,
DC Dread with talons, termis, vindicator, 3 priests, 1 landspeeder, 1 squad of 2
PW, 2
CCW, 1
PF death co in a rhino. Secondary was kill 4 special units, mission was 5 objectives,
DoW Deployment. He chose my 3 normal dread and 1 ven dread as targets. I chose raven, speeder, termis, and vindicator.
He deploys the
DC Rhino full up field and zooms it over into my empty deployment zone. Turn 1 I pop it focus on the raven.
IT LIVES THROUGH EVERYTHING till turn 2 when it dies. Dread charged a rhino then ate a turbo penetrator, raven dropped the termis/libby/priest in my lines and they died to a huge combined charge. I was on the ropes until about turn 3 when I killed nearly everything in my face. I had walked everything but the 3 normal dreads on the right flank, the dreads were on the left trying to get shots on stuff but basically he spent the entire game trying to kill the ven dread he'd chosen instead of trying to get objectives. I was able to sneak 2 remaining purifiers onto 1 objective, a full rhino onto another, and shoot him off of one of his. I wasn't able to kill his weaponless immobile vindicator or a unit of marines, but he wasn't able to kill anything but 3 rhinos and 2 units of purifiers. The red thirst took over for him but he really under committed trying to kill my army. He had kept most of the razors back to take objectives and over committed on certain things. It was a fun game though.
So I went 2/2/1 I think I ended up about the middle of the pack judging from a quick look at postings but they'll post them in a few days.
Here's some scattered pics from the event:
My stuff:
Blood angels?!
This guy beat Spellbound game 5 taking best general:
One of my Wargames con 2011 opponents switched to

Demons.
That obligatory 1 sister player
A nice deathwing
This won players choice, and wasn't even finished.
A weird Dark Eldar army. I'm not keen on most of it but some interesting conversions.
And I'll close with a 7 foot tall painting of Bill Clinton running... Cause thats what I sat under at dinner Saturday.
