DiDDe - Thanks!
After gaming this weekend I decided to head home and get to work!
First up where some heavy turrets I'd gotten from Old Crow Miniatures. I figure these will be great sentry guns/ Tarantulas.

Here they are next to the aegis walls.

Then today after doing some work around the house I painted the Sentinels of Blue Company, and Red Company's lead.

Just like before these aren't based and don't have the final weathering applied.
These all joined Red Company in my foam and into my closet. I'm trying to figure out if I should paint russes or chimeras next.

Go for the russes!

I might've missed it, but did you say what armament the sentinels will have?

The Emperor Demands PAINT!- 04/28 - Finished Imperial Knight! @ 2011/10/04 19:24:38

Post by: Foda_Bett

DiDDe - Started last night, I'll get photos later. I'm going to put a hold on painting them cause I'm out of the Grey.

Lord Kaesar II - The sentinels are magnetized. They can have their choice of Lascannon, Multilaser, Heavy Flamer, or Plasma Cannon.

Post by: Foda_Bett

MeatShield - Thanks! Its beginning to look like it'll be my gaming group vs me if I keep up this pace!

Well I'd forgotten that I had set aside the tan russes to be punishers as the track guards world work best for keeping spent shells from falling into the gears.
So realizing I needed a cooler looking punisher cannon I built this

And slotted it into the turret

Then I built the actual barrels using a large punch set a drill bit and a steady hand.

When you combine the 2 on the turret with the ammo feed it looks really bad ass

Well the picture makes them look a little purple but I have finished the blue touch ups on the 3rd Co.

I also finished painting the assault packs.

I did a little bit of drybrushing to make it look like the idling glow from space marine.

And attached them to the assault marines

Next up is finishing off the IC's and then I'll be done with this part of the infantry!

Tonight I primed 20 3rd Edition Storm Troopers (the special forces guys) 10ish commissars, 10ish assassins, and 10ish agents of the Inquisition!

Rogue Wolves - Thanks! That's and old Rackham Confrontation minii I picked up at a local mini sale.

Last night I finished the 4 Crusaders. I tried something a little different on their cloaks, going with a chaos black then a very dark grey drybrush and then washing it all in black. I can't decide if I like this or the grey with washes (like the last batch) better.

Hazzer - Thanks!

Last night I was able to put the temporary finishing touches on the 3rd ed storm troopers

And primed my kasrkins

Next is getting the kasrkins up to the same level as the 3rd ed storm troopers and then dipping them all, highlighting them and applying metallics.

The marines you see are another commission. They're about 3/4 done now.

Rogue Wolves - Thanks!

Well its been a crazy few months at work. I've been putting in 70+ hour weeks but I have been able to get some painting done.
First I was able to paint a batch of IG troopers (they had flesh applied after this photo was taken)

Next I was able to paint a BUNCH of bases for my Grey Knight army. These were then pinned to the models I've been painting for the past few months.

And finally I painted 43 servo skulls and 4 familiars last night.

I just finished priming another smaller batch of IG and some more after market commissars and a bunch of mechanicus stuff.

Hazzer - Thanks!
For turkey day I decided to dust off a few old projects and start a new one.
First up I painted some commissars

Next I got my Apoc allied Harliquins ready for basing

And finally I painted Privateer Press' Jonas Murdock. One of my friends is a former Marine who's last name is Murdoch, has the same hair, has the same scowl (when angered) and has the same little white streak they used on their model. I added a little comic relief to the base.

The Emperor Demands PAINT!- 04/28 - Finished Imperial Knight! @ 2011/11/27 18:41:04

I black washed the commissars and started painting 6 current enginseers and 1 Bob Olley tech priest. They'll need some red highlights and a few touch ups and they'll be done.

Enginseers got finished and shelved. While poking around through my unpainted box I came across 3 Apothecaries, thinking these would be a quick paint I finished them.

Then I finished another batch of guardsmen to the "ready for dip" stage

So I was able to get Christmas off and I spent it building and doing a slight bit of painting.
First up I painted the bodyguards for Inquisitor

Then a conversion of a Dark Eldar to a callidus

And a Cullexus I built out of a Eldar Guardian and other things

Next I bought a box of Men at Arms and then got one for Christmas and now they just need power weapons to be crusaders.

Then I built some Grey Knight Techmarines out of some spare bits I had

Next I scrounged my bits box for any quick to build minis.

I took some stripped death company minis and built some Ultramarines Death Company, and then

Some marines, LoTD, sternguard, and others

Chaplains and Librarians

Characters and Apothecaries

More Techmarines

Some Command Squad marines

Converted some Company champions

And finally some terminators and servitors

Lord Kaesar II - Thanks!

HAZZER - Thanks!

Almarine - Most of the marines you see were purchased second hand. All of the DC, all the random marines, all the chaplains, all the librarians, all the techmarines, all the servitors, all the command squad, and 90% of the captains.

Another friend got me a late Christmas present of more men at arms. Followed by another friend who gave me tons of bits, so I was able to get the newest box armed with falchions.

Next I finally got the Punisher housing cast

And built a forgeworld Vanquisher turret to finish off my Pask-quisher.

Rogue Wolves - Thanks! You my want to check the pics of that mega battle for pics of my 9 executioners

HAZZER - Thanks! I'm using them as Crusaders.

Well I figure GW Is just waiting for me to build my first thunderhawk before they release theirs (thus forcing me to turn mine into terrain). So I made a deal with the world a long time ago. When I finish an entire company of marines, that company will get a thunderhawk.
This has been so ingrained in my play group (GW waiting to screw me) that I have been asked to keep working on my marines. So I present to you the last piece of the 2nd company 9 Land speeders with magnetized underslung weapons.

Right now I'm waiting for the wash to dry (applied after the picture) then it'll be touch ups, flatten them, assemble, and base (which will be really dynamic).

It is seriously amazing how much you get done, AND the paint jobs are good too! It's not like you're just slapping paint on them (unless you somehow figured out how to do that and still make it look great)
I'd love to see a pic of the whole 2nd company once you finish these last 9 speeders.

Then it's time to do enough thunderhawks for their rapid deployment from a battle barge

THEN it's time for a battle barge!

I think if anyone could do it, it would be you

(PS. and then finally gw will come out with a kit for thunderhawks)

HAZZER - I haven't used crusaders just built them. That page explains where the heads come from.
Rogue Wolves - Thanks!
Awesomesauce - Thanks! I have thought about a battle barge... it'll be a long way off. After my 2 StormBirds and other things

Well I primed the last of my basic infantry IG minis

When I put down some basic colors these will be ready for dipping along with all the other guardsmen. Then I'll be some quick highlights away from over a full company of infantry!

I built and Primed the last 2 dreads for the 3rd Company

Saturday after a game I noticed a small problem. Since GW makes so many Space Marines I hate having 2 of the same poses. Well it appears as if I have 2 of a certain librarian, so 1 must go!

You're opinion on which one?

And finally I built some bases for the speeders!

Why not just take the clippers to one of them and remove the axe? Maybe drill the fist and add in a force halberd instead. IIRC the left hand of those minis was plastic too, snap it off and chuck an arm that's posed/equipped differently. The guy on the right looks less completely so chose him I guess.

Flying Pooo - Thanks!
HAZZER - I assure you I will not need them for Apoc. I have way too many models as is
Lennysmash - Thanks! That'll delay the 2nd company some more

Well those 2 dreads got some basic colors down

Then I broke out one of my bottles of old GW Ultramarines Blue Spray paint and did a few of those unpainted models (yeah I built and added more to the stack that were unphotographed)

And primed some more minis grey

I also went to the Astronomicon GT last weekend and took best terrain with my City fight table (link for those who haven't seen it)
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v314/Foda_Bett/40k/Scenery/Finished/?start=all

First thing I did was brush minwax on all the guardsmen and stormtroopers I've been working on.

Then I got the dreads ready for decals:

And finally painted the 6 terminators from my last priming batch:
3 Claw terminator sargents

2 TH/SS Terminators

Minor Huron Conversion

niallkissick - Thanks! The majority are steel legion.
When GW previewed their 25th Anniversary model I thought it was nice but not something I wanted in my army. So I decided to make it an apoc objective! I ordered 2 from the online store and just happened to find 1 at a local GW. I was able to combine the 3 to make a rather terrible model (the other 2 nice ones will go in storage till I'm happy with their Ebay price), and painted it up like a copper statue.

I'll get a pic when the washes are dry.

I got the dreads decaled

I also sealed the guardsmen from the last post!
Steel legion

Assorted IG

Stormtroopers

And I built some corsairs to become death cult assassins

ghostmaker - Thanks! I now have 5 full platoons of steel legion (all infantry squads, special weapon squads, and heavy weapon squads) and I think this brings me up to 2-3 full platoons (minus heavy weapons) of mixed infantry.

DiDDe - Thanks! Actually there are 4 there, 2 hasegawa and 2 revell, there's also 3 of the new tamiya kits in my attic. My father and I are going to super detail them as an exercise in stretching my scratchbuilding skills

HAZZER - Thanks, I believe all of your questions are answered in my post.

Well before I started my new job I was able to get in a 20k a piece game against Spellbound.
My forces consisted of:
100 Purifiers
2nd Company of Ultramarines
3rd Company of Ultramarines
12 Drop podding dreads
6 Vindicare assassins
5 Callidus assassins
9 Leman russ exterminators
2 stompa hunter (sentinel company)
20 Legion of the damned
9 LandSpeeders
Baneblade
Stormblade

My Reserves:

My Northern Deployment

Northern Opposition

My Southern Deployment

Southern Opposition

My Central Deployment

Turn 1:
Northern Charge

Southern Charge

Turn 2
Northern Charge

Southern Charge

The game was a blast and came down to a Draw with him holding the southern objective, me holding the northern, and no one in the center.

ok, I have to ask..Why would GW's releasing of a plastic T-Hawk force you to use a scratchbuilt one as terrain?

dsteingass - because what ever GW came out with (even if mine was better) would be different from mine, and if I'm going to have multiples of a piece of armor I'm gpoing to have them matching.

Ahh, I see, you want that identical army look, gotcha

Being a Guard Player, I want mine to look like a collection of whatever they acquired over a long campaign during a crusade.

dsteingass - For my IG I prefer certain tanks to look identical. Since my guard are from Armageddon and Armageddon makes chimeras all my chimeras should be identical.

Last week I started painting some Veterans and was finally able to finish them off this weekend.

Then I got 4 Apothecaries painted up. The first robed guy is for the 3rd company.

Well I've been working on some black minis
Cassius and a Deathwatch Chaplain

2 Deathwatch Librarians (1 jump pack)

2 Chaplains

There are 3 other chaplains I'm working on as well but they're still drying.

Commissar and converted chaplain

Terminator and Normal Chaplains

Lemartes conversion

Callidus conversion

and a few servo skulls and purity seals

While waiting for those to be dry I was able to start weathering the land speeder bases

Next up was painting another statue this time the skullz Iwo Jima statue

dsteingass - Thanks!
DiDDe - Thanks!

I must apologize for yesterday as I was too sick to paint. However tonight I made up for it!
First up I drybrushed the speeder bases with some silver and gave them some spot colors

next up is sandy bottoms.

Next up I painted 4 old book holding familiars

then 2 metal birds and a book with legs familiar

then 3 empire banner familiars, and 2 servo skulls

and finally the termi-lord familiar

And put the bone down on the other servo skulls

When these are finished it will bring my familiar/servo skull total to somewhere in the 60s. I look forward to the day I can play an apoc game and explain to my opponent that the little bases all over the battlefield are places he shouldn't deepstrike near.

Over the past 2 nights I haven't gotten much accomplished. Wednesday night is my gaming night and Thursday I managed to get some dreads assembled but nothing painted.

Well I started off tonight by priming those 5 psyrifile dreads which I will need for a tournament tomorrow (3/24)

While those dried I was able to finish off the servo skulls

In between waiting for layers of paint on the skulls to dry I added some more colors to my old Lelith Conversion

and finished off an old mini I'd been working on and off on for a few months.

After those were finished I decided to drybrush the leather highlights on my Kasrkin stormtroopers. At work last week I was able to get all of my 3rd ed stormtroopers highlights done and tonight I finished the kasrkin.
I've also been able to get all the steel legion pictured earlier highlighted and 1/2 of the "misc" guardsmen.

Well Saturday's tournament was fun. Round one paired up against my friend Spellbound's Emperor's Children and got beat (by 200 vps) next game against Eldar, I stole the initiative and psyifiled him of the table. Game 3 I played my friend Joel and Psifiled his Dark Eldar off the table. This was a 1850 Tournament and allowed me to test nearly my whole BoLSCon list.

While there I purchased the last of the deathcult assassins I'm going to need, got home and assembled them. Then decided to prime them and all the crusaders.

Then Sunday I decided to paint the last of Vulkan's command squad (and another command squad).

All and all a productive weekend.

Well Monday I met up with my friends John and Joel (of being Psy-fled fame) and painted the red on all of my assassins and crusaders

And last night I got the boots painted on my crusaders. For those who don't know there are 50 crusaders and 50 assassins in that lot.

Well I've decided to do a weekly update instead of daily ones.
First I was able to get more red, and the metals down on my crusaders and death cult assassins!

I also finished the earlier set of purity seals

And then took another set of purity seals and finished them.

I also played a ~10k per side apoc game Saturday

I fielded a baneblade, a stormblade, 3 landraiders, 30 Ultramarines Honor Guard, Marenus Calgar, and Pedro Cantor.

Awesome work! You are a machine!

Can you talk a little more about your crusaders and the DCA?

You did mention the crusader shields are maximini, and the DCA are Dark Elf corsair, but can you talk about about those choices of minis (besides cost, why and how did you pick those models) and any conversions on them.

thanks for the updates!!

The Emperor Demands PAINT!- 04/28 - Finished Imperial Knight! @ 2012/04/09 16:04:27

Post by: Foda_Bett

dsteingass - Thanks!

Rogue Wolves - Thanks!

DiDDe - Thanks!

davethepak - Thanks! The crusader minis are Men at Arms from the bretonian line. A few of them got maxmini shields because you get 15 bodies and 14 shields. The choice for minis was purely cost. One of my friends is using wingless Dark Eldar scourges for death cult assassins, while nice models they are really expensive. Corsairs are 10 for $25. The only conversion the corsairs have is the Puppets War G-Unit heads I attach later in this post.

Well friends another week another pile of models!
This week I was able to get the cloaks for the assassins drybrushed and do a ton of touch ups. On Friday my heads came in from Puppets War and I attached them and basecoated them. Sunday was a flurry of painting as I finished them and the crusaders.

The crusaders still need decals on their shields, but painting is done.

During the week I got bored painting and touching up red/metal/black and painted some ultramarines

As I was finishing them up the new GW paints were released and eager to try out some new techniques I picked up the dry "Griffon Gold" which I drybrushed on a libby's staff head over P3's Rhulic Gold (my usual gold of choice)

A picture of the rhulic gold with a mud wash by itself (my usual gold recipe).

I rather like the outcome of the new paint over my old style and look forward to trying GWs other golds and other types of paint.
I was also able to finish the leather highlights on all my guardsmen and do the khaki highlights on the misc guardsmen.

Well my friends this week was not as productive.
I started off Saturday by deciding to try out GWs new paints for red and white. After a $100 trip to Hobby Town for paints and the new how to paint book. I had a decent idea.
Next up was me feeling kinda bad for not painting much so I decided to finish that Lelith conversion

and an ass shot for John

Between waiting for her to dry and waiting for the test shoulder pads to dry I decided to get some basic colors down on some marines I had laying around.
Skulz standard, Chronus, 2nd ed. Tigurius

Pedro Cantor, Dante, Seth Conversion

Sanguinor

Seth conversion

I also painted start to finish 2 scouts, tellion, and my Namaan stand in

Before I head off to Wargames Con I'm going to the Alamo GT on the 19th of May. In preparation for that event I needed to get my GKs cleaned up. First up was fixing the rhinos they'll be using.

Next using the fancy new GW how to paint book I tried out some new shoulder pad markings.

Then when I was happy I painted a test model in each

Then touched up the GKs I'll need for the event

While waiting for them to dry I was able to finish off the marines I'd been working on.

I also got some base colors on my Honor Guard

While finishing those up I decided to try and finish off the Khador Man-O-War I had primed earlier. He would be a good test as to how that red primer accepts paints. I suppose I should start a "Painting for the Empress" blog now

progreen10 - Actually this is just the weekly progress. I find just managing my time well helps me get through it. And I'm in Texas, we usually like A/C more than heat

Well during work this week I was able to get a few minor colors on some Servitors and this weekend I finished them off.

Then I worked some more on the Honor Guard. They'd be done except for the fact that I wasn't happy with the way the cloaks were turning out so I repainted them all:

HAZZER - Thanks! Keep reading

Legion of Damnation - ghostmaker's correct. Its from the old Skulz program.

ghostmaker - Yeah, Rex is an on and off project. I just don't know how to finish him.

Well another week closer to Alamo GT and Wargames Con 2012 and I got some more painting done!

First up I worked on my GK dreads.

While waiting for them to dry I put down some colors on all the GK dread arms in my bitsbox.

And a preview for my opponents

While those dried I put down some colors on a Coteaz for a tournament list later.

And since most of that painting was done in washes or enamel paints while waiting for them to dry I put down the finishing touches on the honor guard

Rogue Wolves - Thanks! I honestly don't know how many minis I have. I just try to keep track of the painted ones.

DiDDe - Thanks! I don't have enough flat space in my house for that. Now that doesn't mean I have a ton of minis (which I do) it just means I have a messy house. I'm still working on the warhounds. Check the link in my sig to see their few and far between updates.

HAZZER - Thanks!

Well while waiting for some touch ups on dreads to dry I was able to paint 2 commissars and 2 chaplains

So after my usual gaming this weekend I was able to trade some of my old wood elves for a box of Grey Knight Terminators. So I got to have fun assembling some new minis and updating old ones. First up was updating an old GK with a new nemesis stick.

Then I added a halberd and sword to a couple of the termi libbys

A while ago a friend of mine traded me some extra apothecary bits so I built 2 apothecary's from the box

Started my unit of hammer paladins

And started the falchion unit of paladins

In between waiting for them to dry I was able to finish of Coteaz

And base the dreads

Finally I forgot my list needed an inquisitor with combi-melta so I built and painted one. A few more touch ups and a base and he'll be done.

Flying Pooo - Thanks!
HAZZER - Thanks!

Well friends while being at a tournament this weekend I was unable to do a ton of painting so I give you pictures of some of my figs.
The 1st Company's Terminators as they stand right now:

A friend just sold me a few more terminators, which brings my total to 115, this will allow me to field
30 Th/SS Termis
30 LC Termis
24 Stormbolter termis
12 Cyclone Termis
12 Assault Cannon Termies
12 Heavy Flamer Termis
10 Command Squad Termis
Assorted Captains/Chaplains/Librarians/ICs

The power armored contingent of the 1st company.

Sternguard:

Vanguard with/waiting on jump packs:

Walking Vanguard:

And we'll wrap up this week with a quick after action report from the Alamo GT
Not really a batrep per say but some of my observations.
The venue is amazing. Playing a GT in a bar is a blast and leads to a different kind of atmosphere. Air wasn't too bad either. Some people got smelly but it was a decent temperature all along.
Count as was king. I can't count the number of mish/mash armies. From the 4 colored Rhino GKs (with bolt pistol scouts for henchmen) to the Ironwarrior "greyhunters" with space wolf long fangs in blood angel rhinos I played round 4, and top that off with the Night Lords Blood Angels.
Judges were easily available. Very rarely did I hear someone have to scream for a judge 2 times.
Terrain was sparse. I was listening in on a few conversations between the TO and the BoLS guys, apparently the TO was strapped for terrain and asked them to bring some more terrain. They showed up with their nice vacuform buildings and everyone was happy. Except these were not evenly deployed across all tables. Some tables got 1, some tables got 2, and a few got 6.

Game 1 vs Grey Knights.
This was the table

Notice anything wrong with it? I played the best GK player in the country on this... going second. I siezed the initiative and was told by an ass in gold armor to re roll it and failed. I deployed on the table in hopes he'd roll average and kill 2-3 vehicles. He rolled above average and wasted all my rhinos. My turn 1 the rest of my stuff shot a storm raven and it took most of it to down the plane. I called it having only killed the raven. He took secondary and felt bad so bought me lunch.

Game 2 vs Leaf Blower.
Seriously can I get a break here?! I walk up to the table wondering why the Emperor is testing me so much and my opponent says "Hey want a beer" I said "you buy round 1 and I'll get round 2". We then proceeded to have one of the best games of 40k in my life. Being tiehammer (with spearhead for extra tie-ness) we were in for a tie. He reserved 2 vendettas with shotgun/melta/demo vets, and castled up. I realized I wasn't breaking that castle and castled myself but kept semi mobile. I kinda harassed him killed somethings then the vendettas come on. One comes on turboboosting and takes a rifle dread to the face. The vets crash out and get 12" away from the vindicare. They unload with everything and cause 2 wounds, which I save. Queue the twilight zone music because everything that happened in that quarter was not of this world. Crowe charged the vets next turn and set 2 on fire... they SAVED. They strike back and miss. Drawn combat... these things don't happen.

Vendetta 2 shows up, shoots 1 lascannon that misses and Crowe kills the unit. He'd taken out 3 rhinos by the end and the other gets popped in front of his lines. I just can't make it to his flag and we tied. Secondary was get units in non-deployment quarters which I take.

Game 3 vs Dark Eldar.
Usual Dark Eldar but swap the blaster born for splinter cannon born, and wracks for troops. My opponent started by explaining that he "doesn't play 40k much" when ever someone tells you this there's a reason, most times it isn't because they're being honest.
We go through 2 turns of me shooting at his vehicles (flicker fields on all, night shields on the 3 ravagers) and I notice they're not dieing. Like no where near enough, then it hits me not only is he making 50% of his saves... they're not open topped?! I express this and he said "Oh I just thought you knew and was taking everything you told me as the damage." From that turn on his paper planes fell like they should. He also killed a unit with a venom then tried to give the pain token to the unit inside. I won 9 kill points to 5. No one took secondary.

We went out to dinner and saw Avengers.

Game 4 vs Space Wolves.
Well thats what the list said, and it was led by Logan Grimar. However 2 of his 4 rhinos were blood angels and 2 of his grey hunter units were iron warriors/non-GW models. This game was back and forth. I didn't move as much as I should and was barely able to eke out a tie with a weaponless immobile rhino within 3" of his objective. He took secondary.

Game 5 vs Blood Angels.
3 las/plas backs, 1 assault cannon back, raven, DC Dread with talons, termis, vindicator, 3 priests, 1 landspeeder, 1 squad of 2 PW, 2 CCW, 1 PF death co in a rhino. Secondary was kill 4 special units, mission was 5 objectives, DoW Deployment. He chose my 3 normal dread and 1 ven dread as targets. I chose raven, speeder, termis, and vindicator.
He deploys the DC Rhino full up field and zooms it over into my empty deployment zone. Turn 1 I pop it focus on the raven. IT LIVES THROUGH EVERYTHING till turn 2 when it dies. Dread charged a rhino then ate a turbo penetrator, raven dropped the termis/libby/priest in my lines and they died to a huge combined charge. I was on the ropes until about turn 3 when I killed nearly everything in my face. I had walked everything but the 3 normal dreads on the right flank, the dreads were on the left trying to get shots on stuff but basically he spent the entire game trying to kill the ven dread he'd chosen instead of trying to get objectives. I was able to sneak 2 remaining purifiers onto 1 objective, a full rhino onto another, and shoot him off of one of his. I wasn't able to kill his weaponless immobile vindicator or a unit of marines, but he wasn't able to kill anything but 3 rhinos and 2 units of purifiers. The red thirst took over for him but he really under committed trying to kill my army. He had kept most of the razors back to take objectives and over committed on certain things. It was a fun game though.
So I went 2/2/1 I think I ended up about the middle of the pack judging from a quick look at postings but they'll post them in a few days.

Here's some scattered pics from the event:
My stuff:

Blood angels?!

This guy beat Spellbound game 5 taking best general:

One of my Wargames con 2011 opponents switched to GKs

Demons.

That obligatory 1 sister player

A nice deathwing

This won players choice, and wasn't even finished.

A weird Dark Eldar army. I'm not keen on most of it but some interesting conversions.

And I'll close with a 7 foot tall painting of Bill Clinton running... Cause thats what I sat under at dinner Saturday.

littleman_2009 - Thanks! The majority of the dreads are coming out of the list for the dreadknights I built last year.

Eagle390 - Thanks!

Well friends I apologize for the long delay. On 6/1 I was at a GT (didn't win but won a raffle for a dakkajet which I traded in for a storm talon), and another mega game (pictures later). But do not fear as I have been painting. First up was getting the stormtroopers from January almost finished. They need squad decals and they'll be done. Over the past 2 weeks I've painted guns, power cables, silver details and lenses on over 90 stormtroopers and I can't wait to finish them! I've also been working on a new commission for a friend and I've gotten 1 squad of Ultramarines Devestators done and a few crimson fist characters started.
I also took some pictures of the majority of the 2nd and 3rd company.

2nd Co. Deployed as Lascannon Meltagun

The extra plasma/flamers

Extra heavy bolters in case I want to field the devs as longfangs in apoc.

Not Pictured: Techmarine Fixit, 3 Venerable Dreads, 3 Normal Dreads, 2 Thunderfire Cannons, Damocles Rhino

3rd Co. Deployed as Multimelta Meltagun

The extra plasma/flamers

Not Pictured: Librarian Headache, 6 Normal Dreads

My play group decided to have an apoc game as a welcome back and see ya later for a friend of ours. I decided to deploy the entire Ultramarines first company!
My forces:

Pictures from the game:

In the end I think I lost maybe 25 terminators, and 10 of those were to a mishap.

During this game I found out that everyone is scared of 103 deepstriking terminators. Also mawlocs that tunnel up in the middle of 70ish terminators on turn 4 to contest the objective and tie the game... SUCK!

Well friends its has been a long time since I've posted an update. So I will only focus on my 2013 progress.

I finally moved out of my parents house and while this has cut down on the number of tools at my disposal it has allowed me to organize a painting group with my friends.

My goals since moving out have been to finish all of the projects that were "almost done" and then move onto those that were "started but never finished. Of course I'll also be putting some things that I need for tournament play in there as well!

First I fixed all my broken space marines. This totaled about 50 odd marines through the years of playing. I even converted a few so they fit better in my battlefoam.
I then took stock of all of the members of the 3rd company who were missing shoulder pads and parchments and finished them off.
Next I based all of the 3rd company and its dreads with the same city theme I've used on other projects.
After that I realized I was tired of repairing 2 or 3 marines from the 8th company every time I went out for a game, so I ripped them all off their custom bases and rebased them on the same city theme as the 3rd.
While I was in a basing mood I took all the Assassins and Crusaders you see pictured above and put them all on round bases, and based them in the city theme.
Late last year my friend had been running the weekly painting days and I had started assembling 4 vindicators then. I finished assembling the main bodies on them, still need to finish the dozer blades.
I've been play testing a new Grey Knight list for this years tournament season and I needed to get a few models switched out for that, so I assembled and basecoated 3 PA Justicars with Halberds, and 3 Hammer PA Grey Knights, as well as 2 storm ravens.
I found a box with the start of the 4th company of Ultramarines (just the tac squads) but they were missing their tactical shoulder pads, and I added them.

So that brings me to today.
I've been wanting to reorg my guard since earlier in this thread when I painted a platoon or so of excess guardsmen. I started out by pulling all my heavy weapons out and taking a tally.
I've always wanted to have 15 of each guard heavy weapon team to go with my apoc sized guard army. So I took some of my bases and started building the missing ones

I've also decided that while pure sand looks nice on bases it is CONSTANTLY falling off and leaving bald spots. So I'm going to try out some sand colored vallejo pumice and see how that works.

Next up is basing all those guardsmen from earlier in the same pumice, then decaling all the non ID'd guardsmen.

The Emperor Demands PAINT!- 04/28 - Finished Imperial Knight! @ 2013/03/26 16:31:19

Well I'd been storing my Sentinels in the normal battlefoam cases and this really didn't work well as many of them stuck out over the top.
So I repaired all the broken ones (about 8) with pins in their ankles and customized the case some.

Next up was sorting out all the weapons I'd had magnetized for them all.

20 Autocannons, multilasers, plasmacannons, and lascannons!
I'll be sanding the mold stuff of them this weekend at my parents (because I don't have a belt sander in my apartment) and painting them up this weekend!

Now some of you may be asking where the guardsmen I promised are. Well it turns out they were all lacking a few colors so I've decided to finish painting them before basing them. 37802

Post by: Foda_Bett

Hazzer - Thanks!

Well since the pumice looked good on the heavy weapons teams I hit the bases of the sentinels as well

While cleaning up I found a few earthshaker cannons left over from my medusas. It'll be a quick job to build them up as gun emplacements so I slapped some glue on them.

I've lost some parts though so I'll have to scratch build some covers for 2 of them and a breach for 1.

I got the majority of the sprue chunks removed from the sentinel weapons now it'll just be some cleanup.

While I was at my folks house I was able to sand down the forgeworld doors I needed to finish off the rhinos for the 2nd company

These will go alongside the already finished rhinos (minus top hatches) and some predators I was working on before

Also my bases for the 1st company came in! I can't wait to finish them... right after I figure out how to paint them.

The Emperor Demands PAINT!- 04/28 - Finished Imperial Knight! @ 2013/04/08 15:00:21

Post by: Foda_Bett

Well first up I was able to get the rhinos up to the condition of the other Rhinos and the Predators

Then I built the sponsons for the predators. They'll be magnetized so I can easily swap between them.

Next up will be building the turrets for them.

I was also able to paint all of the base edges for all my finished guardsmen and sentinels.

I've got to figure out how to build the top doors on the rhinos so they can be swapped for razorbacks.

Well friends I finally got off my ass and started painting again!
During the Monday painting session I was able to get all of my bases primed and a gunmetal drybrush

I did some test washes today and I'm happy with them but they're not something I can put everywhere.

After that I decided to put some more colors down on the storm ravens.

Then I washed the plastic GKs I built

And finished off the Warpsmith/techmarine

I built another pair of hammer/halberd justicar for a possible 4th squad I may need.
I also built and primed the defense lines.

Theophony - Thanks!

Briancj - It was a beautiful army to see in person. I wish I could have spent more time in the hall but I twas running around taking 20+ hrs of classes.

Well I need to think about how what I want to field at Wargames con, and to that end I finally finished my Storm Ravens.

As you may remember my squads are differentiated by the 2 tones on their shoulder pad. I replicated this with the alerons on the planes as well as a small shield on the hurricane bolters.

Of course no sooner do I finish these that I realize I really just want to have fun at this event, and switch my focus to the narrative track which uses Horus Heresy rules.

I've pointed out a list and started amassing the troops!

First tactical branch (and 2 support squads)

Second Tactical branch

Assault branch

Predator support

So where does this leave me?

Tactical Squad 1

DiDDE - Check my signature for a link to that thread.

Last night I went to my folks to pick up my old display board for Wargames Con. Last year while packing up the church front had come detached from the base so I had to reglue that, as well as reaffixing the second A in Armageddon on the backboard.

On top of all this since last update I've been able to:
Build, and paint all the Jump marines I thought I would need if I was going to play in the narrative track.
Base 2 heavy bolters and 10 plasma cannons I thought I would need if I was going to play in the narrative track.
Build, magnetize, and paint all Predator sponson & Turret weaponry (and extras) I thought I would need if I was going to play in the narrative track.
Decal predators.

Lucarikx - Thanks! I was playing in the GT. I was thoroughly trashed but I had 6 great games!

Well I've been busy since I got back! I've been building 3 storm talons and they're each about 1/2 done.
I've also been working on and off on my golden demon projects but I need to work harder on them.
First up for finished things will be the Dante from earlier in the thread. I gave him some panel lines and painted his opponent

I also did the same with my Astorath

To Prepare for Apoc I built an Ultramarines Tycho (remember my death company are tyrannic war vets)

and a Helbrecht

I've also been working on finishing up the 2nd companies Rhinos. I've decided I need to tell who's rhino it is from any angle and I've spruced up the codex markings.

As you can see both sides have squad number and job markings.
I did this to all of the rhinos

As part of working on my Games Day projects I tried out some new weathering ideas on my old baneblade

Don't look too hard for them most of them washed away when I sealed the model.

Since the Purifier formation is making a comeback I decided all 10 of my purifier squads needed an inquisitor (who better to cast divination) so I built another to make it an even 10

Some of you may have seen the riptide I painted for a friend of mine at Wargames con coverage on Spikey Bits and on BOLS so here's a little how to

To start off I primed all of the parts Vallejo Airbrushable black primer. Then applied a digital camo masking tape I found online (the company is out of business or I'd link you there now, but I plan on making and selling some later)

Next I sprayed over the tape with Vallejo Airbrushable Gray primer, and applied a new set of masking tape.

Finally I sprayed the whole thing with Tamiya German Gray and pulled the tape off

Next was picking out details in boltgun dwarf bronze and foundation orange. I washed the boltgun with a custom purple glaze I made and drybrushed with chainmail to give it that "alien" look

This is not something I recommend for the faint of heart. All together this took over 30 hours to do 1 riptide, 1 hammerhead, 6 sniper drones, 2 spotters, and 10 marker drones.
As I did them the week before we left I didn't get much sleep before the tournament.

I did these tau for a friend of mine who is moving away next month and you can see an Ultramarines and Blood Angels Rhino doors on the base. This is an omage to me and another friend ours. He's given me 2 more riptides to do and they will have other bits from armies our gaming group plays.

Well friends I've been trying to remember to take pictures, honest!

On the 4th of July I ended up playing a 15k per side "good bye to 1.5 apoc" game.
I only took pictures of the set up so here we go from left to right

This is what happens when 1 side doesn't talk about what they want to bring... the only scoring units we had were my honor guard (in the land raiders) and 10 of the russes in the back line. We were DESTROYED but we killed 2 titans and TONS of other stuff so it was good.

Some of you may remember the stormhammer I was building (Fairly sure its earlier in this thread). Well Sicne I'm going to Games Day I decided it was time to finish it to enter in the vehicle conversion contest. So I riveted the crap out of it!

Here you can see where all the rivets came from

I also started touching up some of the older pieces I'm going to enter in the golden demon as one of the pieces was broken and shipped, while the other was a little lacking in highlights.

Nice riveting! Good Luck at Games Day! I'm not going this year.

Post by: Foda_Bett

Dsteingass - Thanks!

Ok the riveting journey of the stormhammer continues! I've decided I didn't like the way the rivets looked on the front of the tank so I'm going to add some panels there and then rivet them (you can see the first in the pic).
Then I cut down the forgeworld Ryza battlecannon barrels and attached them to the 2 turrets.

Now that I've been looking at the pictures of the old epic stormhammer and it apparently used baneblade sized guns for the main turret (of course the russes were almost the same size too) so I don't know if I should keep them or go get another kit to cannibalize.
What do y'all think?

Painting wise I've added 2.5 more colors to the wall of martyrs set. Next up I will need to finish up the metals and then hit the metal and bone with a wash. After that I'll do a a nice metal drybrush over the walkway and parts of the wall and they'll be good to go.
After that I'm going to making sure all my current forcers are good to go for apocalypse and then I've got some more plans!

Well friends I had a fun time at Games Day (here's some pics)
http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Foda_Bett/library/Travels/2013%20Memphis%20Games%20Day

On the painting front I was able to get the wall of martyrs finished off and added to the stack

And that's about it really! It has been kind of a slack week. I did get a promotion at work which should mean some more toy soldiers (althought it probably means I'll be paying down some Games Day debt quicker). I started assembling my Captain Invictius out of the Terminator Praetor and some extra Heresy era termis, I've also got some converting to do to Marco Columbo as he needs to become a rogue trader or something.

Flippa - Thanks!

Well while I was at Games Day I picked up the parts I needed to make Captain Invictus of the 1st Company.
It took some cutting to make the plasma blaster fit on the praetor armor

And even more to make the powerfist fit instead of the sword arm.

I've got some sculpting to do in there but it works for right now.

You may remember the tons of servitors, commissars, assassins and other minis I've been building up that needed basing? Well I finally based them!

I'm going to add some drybrushing to the black based ones and then I've got to find some foam for them!

I also got all the weapons magnetized for my StormTalons and they are now ready to paint!
Hopefully this week I can get some more organization done as I've started making a Kanban report for all of my to complete projects. I have a rough outiline but require some more work.

I can't believe I forgot the stormhammer pics last time!
So between this weekend and painting Mondays at my place I was able to get some things done!
I based some more tech adepts

Put down the base colors on the vox array and base for my bastion

And primed a stick of guardsmen

I also primed a few tactical and assault marines to start the 4th company

I was also able to get my wound markers for my scarab swarm bases basecoated gunmetal and the base color down on the bone

Here's the unpainted stormhammer pics from earlier

And last night I broke out my new Grex Trinium and put down a Adeptus Battle Grey basecoat!

The Emperor Demands PAINT!- 04/28 - Finished Imperial Knight! @ 2013/08/27 16:40:16

Post by: Foda_Bett

Well over this weekend and last night I was able to get the finishing colors on the Servo Skull Wound counters

and all together

Now I've got to wait for my secret weapon order to get in before continuing on my mechanicus/crons.

I was also able to paint the cockpits for my stormtalons.

I found out I had to prune some of the parts on the exterior of the cockpit to make them fit (since I glued the dash down). I've been test fitting the other sub-assemblies a lot more to make sure I don't have any more makeshift cutting.
I should be able to clean up the last mold lines tonight and maybe get the rest of the talons basecoated!

Well friends it has been a long time indeed since I have posted. I played in a 15k per side apoc game on Labor Day, and I've been sick and seen the release of the new marine dex in the few weeks since my last post.

Hobby wise I'm afraid it is slight pickings.
We had a tournament at my old work who wants to jump start gaming at their new location. 400pts you needed a special character and some other weird rules. So I brought 22 Storm bolter acolytes! Of course I needed to build them so out came some old cadians, forgeworld heads, flamers, and space wolf storm bolters!

I also built the new firestorm terrain piece

Although you don't need to I magnetized the guns so they slip on easier.

I also decided to work on a few second hand tanks I received. First up was a shadowsword that had sensors instead of lascannons, so I decided it should be able to choose!

Next I took a second hand baneblade (that donated it's barrel to the stormhammer earlier) and made it the "Traitor's Bane" from the Pandorax apocalypse book!

But I couldn't decide which way the AP3 heavy flamers in back should face.

So I magnetized them!

Not to be out done the stormtalons from earlier were basically finished (I'm not happy with the decals and thus I didn't take any finished pictures). But here they are awaiting assembly.

And every weapon option!

Next I had some resin tank hulls a friend of mine had me resin. They were a great "filler" mold that I could just toss any excess resin in while molding so I ended up with a drawer full of them. I was tired of them loafing around so I sanded them flat and added a piece of diamond plate to the top!

BAM! Flat bed trailers! Well now that those are built I wonder if I could combine them with an earlier project...

The Emperor Demands PAINT!- 04/28 - Finished Imperial Knight! @ 2013/09/16 15:36:57

Post by: Foda_Bett

Well I decided to build a few more trailers for up comming projects.

Then while working at my parents I found a box of aegis guns I'd picked up at games day. I decided to build them up quickly

and give them some paint!

I'm still chugging away on the marines posted earlier. They all have their gunmetal and grey down, and I started working on their black (ribbing and sword hilts) on Friday.
I was also able to turn a chaos vindicator I purchased second hand into an Ulttramarine tank. It just needs a Forgeworld rear hatch (waiting till the Horus Heresy book 2 drops) and I'll be ready to paint my 5 vindicators at once.

The Emperor Demands PAINT!- 04/28 - Finished Imperial Knight! @ 2013/09/23 15:28:16

Well the 4th Company is coming along nicely!

After this was taken I got the Golds, Reds, and purity seals down!

My local FLGS is is holding a terrain contest and I went through my bitsbox and found somethings I don't mind donating to a good cause (keeping me playing games).
So I've decided to paint up an old crashed Macragee ship and some buildings!
First up the largest piece

Then the smaller pieces

I've split this one up to 2 separate buildings but the same basic idea. I'm planning on building each piece of the wreckage on its own base so they can be used for objectives if need be.

Well here we go again!

First up I decided to see if I could match the old Ultramarines blue to the new colors

The numbered ones were from the new badger airbrush line, and the large bits at the top is the Ultramarines Spray from Army Painter.

Saturday my FLGS had a terrain competition and I worked on the pieces I'd done with their paints (to make them match). Now these are VERY WIP but you get an idea

I'm probably going to swap out the central plinth in the last one for the marine from the honored imperium set.

I also finished up the acolytes!

Well ok fine they need a drybrush on their bases. The flash over exposed the "Fang" drybrush highlights.

And I finished up the chaplain with the 4th company marines from earlier

Again the "Fang" has been over exposed and isn't nearly that bright.

Well friends I've been doing some cleaning up as I'm going to be moving at the beginning of next year and I've decided to decrease the size of certain armies.
However with the house cleaning I have been doing some building.
I was able to get my Land Raider Achiles built.

I got 2 apothecaries painted.

As well as 2 of the Apocalypse 2.0 Marine Captains

And my Ultramarines Tycho

Also with the advent of Sicarius' new warlord trait I figure I need some pure CC command squads.
So I built the thunderhammer squad

And the lightning claw squad

I also picked up a shadow box to display my GW pin/keychain collection

I just picked up another to give my necklace collection a go.

So I've decided to catalog my painting exploits by taking pictures of everything I have.
First up is the first company, all terminators.

30 TH/SS

Captain with TH/SS

30 LC Terminators

Captain with LC

40 shooty termis (pictured with assault cannons for 3 squads, cannon/HF on the command)

Captain Baylock (Badab war)

Termi Command Squad

Termi Sanguinary Priest

2nd Company (And attached armor)

Command elements and a tactical squad

More tactical squads (deployed as las/plasma)

Devestator squads - with heavy bolters

Thunderfire cannons and attached predators

Storm Talons

Assault Squads deployed as landspeeders

Magnetic typhoon launcher

Damocles rhion

Magnetic predator and stormtalon weapons

Magnetic dreadnoughts (banners arms and torsos are magnetic) - deployed with assault cannon/heavy flamer

Flamers and meltaguns for tac squads, and extra heavy bolters for devs (to make longfangs)

3rd Company (attached vindicators and rhinos are WIP)

Command squad (and vulkan)

Tactical squads - deployed as Melta/Multimelta

Assault Squads - deployed as flamer/flamer

Devestators - with 4 multi meltas

Dreadnoughts (magnetic arms) deployed with multi melta/heavy flamer

Extra flamers/plasma guns for tactical squads - extra devestator weapons are WIP

More stormtalon pictures since I didn't take pictures earlier (nose emblem for the 1st is an eagle, the rest are Ultramarines symbols)

Next up to photograph will be the 8th company and other random marines I come across.

As far as paint goes, I haven't gotten much done. I put some more colors down on some special characters, and started lining up parts for a land raider redeemer I need for a list I'm working on.
I was able to get in a MASSIVE game of apoc. I brought 6k and joined a team of 6 other players for a 42k a side mega game.
Here is a few pictures of the table setup

And a cool building I want to build

I didn't take any in game pics but they had a few photographers going so I'll get a link up later!

This has been an odd week.
I started on a project I've been kicking around in my head for some time! The Chaplain Land raider! The pieces on top aren't really glued so don't mind if they're off center.

I haven't decided if I want a skull door, normal Ultradoors like my other LRs, or a combination

Last night I was able to start on a project I've wanted to do for a while

Stay tuned for updates on it!

Well I tried out zenithial spraying for a khador test model then did some quick colors and some wash. No red paint touched my brush during the painting:

All and all it was about an hour of painting and I'm happy with it. I think I will try painting more quick warmachine models so I can get them on the table.

It turns out the deathstrike missiles from earlier didn't work so I'm going back to the drawing board on them.

And last week a few new boardgames arrived

I've been waiting for this to arrive before I started painting my 1st ed zombicide zombies. So you'll be seeing some test paints later.

Well after a little over 2 hours of painting I have finished all the normal fatties from zombicide.

They need a quick army painter dip and they'll be good to go!

Nice stuff Foda! Did you get those New board games strictly for yourself or are those for resale? Looks like quite the haul.

Moltar - Thanks! There are 2 copies of the latest zombicide kickstarter in there. 1 was for me and another was for a friend.

You may remember the 2 command squads from earlier. Well I finally got around to finishing them off.
Hammers:

Claws:

In the marine dex you can now have sergeants with BOLTERS. I'm sure this was possible before but I never saw it, and my latest lists use bolter sergeants so I built and painted 6.

I also finished off the chapter master from earlier.
Magnetic weapons:

Shield Detail

I added some brass details to the Hammer to make it more Ultramarines.

I also painted all of the runners for zombiecide:

And 1 of the female poses of walker:

Well we've had a bit of a snow storm here in North Texas so it has allowed me to get some painting done.
Some newly finished zombicide walkers

I also built deathwatch killteams and a captain
Captain (Iron snake)

Killteams:

Last week I built 30 arco flagallents from Ghouls and sisters of silence.

I was finally able to paint them

I also got my kickstarter order in from PDC Gaming and painted them up as rapiers along with an older one

Well I decided to finally finish up the zombicide walkers

All walkers together

And I finished off the Abominations

That means I'm done with all basic zombies

And started the toxix zombies with the fatties!

Yay for a snow storm! Those arco flagellants are awesome. Is your Captain's name Iron Snake or is your killteam from the Iron Snakes chapter of SMs?

Moltar - Thanks! The captain is from the Iron Snakes chapter. The killteams are all DeathWatch so they are made up of different chapters.
Galorn - Thanks! They're all going to get a dip (or various washes) and then I'm going to hit them with some other spot items. I'm planning to use the new GW technical paints to dirty them up.

A while ago I painted a Phantom Titan for a friend of mine. He finally put the thing together (well most of the way) so I can show it off here.

I was able to finish off the toxic runners

The toxic walkers

And the toxic abominations

Finished Toxic zombie horde

I'm afraid I've been a little quiet lately because I've been moving apartments. Although this means I've had to tear down all my current setup it allows me to hopefully improve it all.
Here's a WIP of the book shelves

and the Paint/DVD shelf

Then I set up my painting area

And got a couch (for batch painting there's nothing better than relaxing)

And how I spent a classy New Year

Well I've been slowly setting up my painting area and getting pretty sick while doing it but I finally got time to get some painting done.
Right before I moved I decided to build 6 sergeants holding each of the combi weapons I plan on using in the future (Plasma, flamer, and melta). Well this 3 day weekend I was finally able to get some paint on them.

Combi Plasmas

Combi Flamers

Combi Meltas

Photos aren't perfect as I'm still experimenting with where to take them in the new apartment.

I also played in another HUGE apocalypse game. This time I took photos of my army and nothing else (due to timed turns and controlling almost 10k of models).

Thats it for now. I'm getting my knees scoped on the 31st so hopefully I can get something done before then (since I'll be out of action for a few days recovering).

Well I've been recovering from the Knee Surgery well and working on a ton of different projects. I'll only be posting the finished/almost done here.

First up are some old commissars I've been working on

I also finally got to trying out the OSL I learned at last year's Adepticon and finished painting the Mandrakes I'd picked up.
I had planned on running these as Culexus Assassins but I may run them as warp infused Jokero.

And on the assassin kick I painted 3 Malifaux snipers that I picked up to use for extra Vindicare Assassins.

Y'all may remember the Chaplain Land Raider Redeemer from earlier, well it finally got some paint!
Left Side

Front

Right Side

Next up? Well stay tuned!

Today sadly I'm iced in but I was able to make some progress on some projects this weekend!
First up I forgot to post this guy last week. He's a terminator armored Malleus Inquisitor with a psycannon.

This model is converted from a Mantic Games, DeadZone Enforcer Captain. I gave him a GK Power Armored Psycannon, a Daemon Hammer, and a back icon.
Next up I painted some henchmen and a Hereticus Inquisitor.

Combi Flamer priests (using the Independent Characters' Fire technique)

Eviscerator Priests

Deamon Hosts (first model is from Cell Games' 1999 Range, second is Malifaux)

Mystic having trouble deciding on colors for him.

I don't know what these guys will be but they looked neat

I based the Mandrakes

Thanks to Ebay I was finally able to get the missing Space Marine Veteran I was after, and I painted an old Master of the chapter

I'm tempted to go through and disassemble all of the old captains and veterans that I have throughout the years to make them into models I will actually use. Hence why I haven't really finished this guy.

And the Finished Inquisitor (again using the Independent Characters' technique)

Next up was working on one of the new knights.
His base is a bit bigger than a trygon/flyer base

Which means it is begging for a conversion

I haven't figured out if he'll be stepping on a Kan or Dreadnought but it will be something orky.

Ghostmaker - Indeed I do! Stay tuned!

I added a kan below the Knight's foot

After setting up my spray booth I set about basecoating the knight

I also finished Captain Invictius

I'm really happy with the face (not so much with the white).

Speaking of spray booths I decided to take some photos of my setup.
Work bench and spray booth.

Computer, scanner, cutter

Bits box

Paints

Books and WIP minis

Finished models (in boxes) and more bits on left and right
