You definitely want to keep some for the sigmarite army, keep that as along-term project, actually working on the units as and when if you want to start another force. Get rid of your duplicates and some of the stuff you don't think you'll use, but keep anything you might regret losing a short time later.

Right that's what the head says.

The heart says : NOOO. Don't let them go, they's pwecious things.

Not that I'm a pack rat or anything you understand.

Hey Guys,

First of all thanks for the all the feedback!! Really good to read!

@ Miss Dee I won't, I don't think I need the backpacks its really just arms I seem to be missing...and bolters.

@ Fosner170s, thanks man - I don't really like playing, but I like the story element, so you liking my story makes me happy! And yes, I will go and track some down this weekend! Do I just dip them in, or do I paint it on?

@ Blackhand! Oh no! You too? I think that is what I am going to do, sell off say 30% over xmas and then just have a really simple army to do...I can get 60 Imperial Guards men (non-GW) for 50 dollars, so thats what I am going to do, another 20 on roughriders, and 10 on a command squad...10 on heavy weapons, that a non-mech army for 100 dollars...btw...having not played Imp Guard in oooohh...12 years what is a decent 1500pt structure...

@ Monkeytrolll...haha...precious....my precious...silly lanky gamer....

@ Miss Dee...whats first heretic?

Update:

So. Having not done any painting for over a week I knocked out 4 minis sunday night for a roleplay session (D&D but beggars can't be choosers). Seen as I had those particular minis since I was 7 it was nice to finally get some paint on them after 20 years.

Last night I hit a landspeeder with a basic top half of astronomican grey (will be giving it a street camo on top) and fenris grey on bottom (will be giving it a cloud camo on bottom), I did 25% of a marine, and knocked out 2 jet bikes and one rider...so not bad....

I think they will look pretty good if I put on some wash.

@Weety, if you are reading this I am varying my pallet!

Anyway, what else?

For my new, as yet unamed army, I am going to use this guy as a commander:

and

I think I have found my Sigmar;

Both models will require some 40kisation...but

what do you think?

They look cool!

As to the sale of your miniatures I would say maybe keep a few for old times sake. I think they will be worth a lot of money though and if you don't think you want to paint them all then its a shame to miss out on all that lovely money!!
Maybe split them into army types so you got a group of imperials and a group of squats. Take lots of photos - making sure to concentrate on expensive characters and heavy weps. And mention them by name in the write up. The title should include the words rogue trader, oop and the name of the army as these are the kinds of keywords obsessive collectors like myself are always searching for. Give it a long bidding period. Make sure to mention exectly how many minis there are and if any are plastic or have missing bits.
The problem is pricing - you can start really low and then everyone will bid and you will probably end up getting about what they are worth but you might get a bit more or less. Or you could decide how much you want for them and put them on at that price but then they might not sell first time round. Or you could even put them on individually at 99p each which would save you paying listing fees. this tends to work quite well as you often get one or two people determined to buy as many of your minis as possible to get a postage discount for multiple purchases (be sure to offer one) and the bidding can get quite high on desirable minis. But then if things get complicated you might end up posting minis to a dozen different people.

So have fun and be sure to post a link to your selling on here cos I might have a pop at your squat engineer.

Hey followers of Sigmar!

Well. I have decided I am going to sell 1/2 my imperial guard, any duplicates I have, and a handful of the OOP spacemarines...Ill post pics of what I am going to put on ebay when I get home.

@ Captain Cain: I will show you, as long as you don't steal my idea! I've ordered three packs of these http://www.wargamesfactory.com/wargames-factory-store/british-firing-line-zulu-war
I will then just mash up some imperial guard weapons, convert the Tichener models I showed yesterday into Sergeants, make a command squad from a few other models I have found online.
I'm going to use http://wargamesfoundry.com/historical_ranges/single_packs/darkest_africa/british/?sector_id=2 as my heavy weapons, and http://www.blacktreedesign.com/uk/product.php?productid=25260&cat=2513&page=1 as my rough riders...then all I need from then expensive GW is a couple of tanks and I am done! My budget for non GW is 100. I don;'t know what I need from GW to get a 1500pt functioning army. Oh. And I am going to plith up some of my ogryns....any advice on what I need?

@ Fosner1703 Will do...and I will post pics asap!

@ Monkeytroll Have you ever read Enduring Love? Thats based on me....haha joke!!! Seriously though. I've just been going through your trash and living in your fridge.

@Raen! Actually I couldn't find any so I just made them out of thick cardboard. I am going to buy some GW spray gun stuff over xmas so I can paint them, and my vehicles (and lets be honest I am going to spray my models too) quick....

Anyway...continuing the trend I started 3 more models last night but finished none. I now have about 20 models half painted.

Manok!

Ps. Weety good advice thanks! Will bear it in mind...I am debating the squat...considering I didn't know what it was, and I am not too found of the model I may put it on...,

Vik von dom is also doing a pretorian style steampunk for his airship!, i like the blue and white style navy one personally. just picked up a nice leutenant my self as well , just so i can say i have one , are you going to mix and match your historicals with real 40k guard? , i am finding the size differences a bit difficult , except for cavalry.
good luck with the new project mate! btw the minis look nice !

Never played eve. In fact the only games i have played since 2000 is CIV 4 and Vietcong. I made a promise to myself in 1999 that I would not play a game till fallout 3 came out (having spend a week straight playing fallout 2) am saving myself for Fallout 3...yes I know its out already but my PC sucks as does my bank balance.

Unlike a lot of haters out there, I really enjoyed Fallout 3. However, it is not in the same league as 1 & 2, not even the same sport Not trying to put you off, like I said, I think it's a pretty cool game, but it's not the Fallout we loved

So I have done a huge amount of painting the past couple of days...for me at least. Admittedly most of these will be appearing on the WFB blog I have on here...but I have done a Landspeeder, a ratling, half a apothecary and I think I did something else. I've started a LOTD as well. Realising that I had over 40 models with paint on and not finished I lined them all up in a que and have been working on them in order. My somewhat unrealistic aim is to finish the remainder in the next 10 days leaving me with about 100 models completed in 3 months or so.

I also have done a somewhat silly thing. Having ordered the 63 minis (for 60$s!) this has left me not only with a gaming budget of 0 but also a general budget of 0. And I don't get paid till the end of the week coming. Narg.

What else. I have been trying to organize my models into ones I want to sell, but I am struggling to part with any, and in fact, for now, I have decided not to.

Anyway, I am pretty pleased with what I have done recently. Not my best work, but knocking out 10 models like I did this morning makes up for it. And I hope that when i do get washes they will sort out the rest for me. Will it?

Anyway, I will post pics tomorrow. Really looking forward to tackling my Praetorians when they arrive...but I am not going to do that till I have finished the Sigmarites...

Sigmar is on his way.....

So, I have found my camera but not my charger. So no pics.

I did however produce 1 mini every 45 mins last night between 9pm and 12. They were to a decent standard as well. With a wash they should look mediocre.

I am particularly pleased with a Ratling that took 37 minutes.

Post by: manoknok

Well...I now know where my charger is. About 13 hrs drive away. I left it on the site. So its on its way down with a colleague.

Knocked out a Chaplain and a Veteran last night. (I also started 5 other models not in my que! Focus Manoknok!) I felt pretty rough last night. I had been doing really well weaning myself off coffee (from 7+ a day to 2) but fell off the wagon yesterday and was a bit hyper/sleepy. Don't know if you know that feeling...when its 2am and all you want to do is sleep but your actually cleaning, or in my case searching for 2 missing pieces of my veteran. Did a really simple conversion for the weapon in the end (the original axe broke off so gave him a blunt weapon) and couldn't find his shield so I took part of a dread and made a simple one. Realising later that I had already used the spare part so the dread is now missing a piece. But I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Making real progress at the mo. Hopefully 4 or 5 minis tonight...bringing me to about 15 in 4 days, all to a decent tabletop standard...

Anyway, question about green stuff: Do I sculpt it when it is hard or when it is soft. How do I do detail....I have a huge amount of GS work incoming...

Er.

I remembered a friend a long time ago had a Sisters of Battle army...and I know he doesn't play anymore...so I just FBed him and asked if he wants to sell it for a squid a model.

Fingers crossed.

The Chickeny Chicken

I am really looking forward to getting some plastics, gs and doing some converting after xmas!

Anywho:

Very delayed photos...where I can remember how long they took I'll put painting time...

I know I know. I need to buy washes. And more colour.

But I'll do that when back home and go back and wash everything....

Thats my favourite thing about ratlings, halflings and squats - they are really quick to paint. The chaplain looks really neat, jetbikes are pretty cool - I like the flames hot rod style! I miss the idea of occasional imperial jetbikes. Think I might get one or two when money picks up. Do you have a rider for the other one? I often find that a bikeless rider can be picked up very very cheap as most people wont consider buying it.

I would agree about having a glowing blue instead of the glowing green occasionally as variety is the spice of life - I'm thinking of doing a bright pink plasma glow for a slaneesh beastman!

i am a bit torn in your very variing paintjobs... some of your models look really nice , the jetbikes spring to my mind here, and then i see the apothecarius and the ccw SM with the shield and i think whoa the paints look seriously old...how come? or is that just me?
i think the LOTD are also looking better and your IG models look very much superior to your Sm models. do you fancy Imps more over SMs? please dont feel offnded as i know that my comment is far from beeing nice...
its just that i normaly dont see so much different styles from one hand...and so it seems you worked for the ccw SM more tan any other model...

again sorry for the harsh comments.

@ Von Domm....no worries at all. After all that is why we have blogs to get feedback right! I do enjoy the IG more to be honest - but also - I think the paints that I am using are going off. I know my gold is off and my Terracotta (primary colour of SMs) is basically solid. I think it may be the tropical heat. My room can get over 30c during the day as it gets the sun most of the day. My flesh colour is also going off. It seems to be the colours I use the most.

@ Weety I have a squat in the pipeline will try and finish him up. Need to buy some paints when home....to be honest I don't really know what exists anymore. Pink plasma sounds cool....

@ Neil - yes I have tried that...but I think I will get the pack when home. Inco thanks for looking at the other blogs...over to yours now.

General update: i only have 2 days left in Manila this year, so have a huge amount of work piled up. May not be able to update till home - when I will show you the rest of my collection (not much but it is pretty valuable - thats why I left it at home!)

when i begun recently with painting (about a year now) i used to have my painting gear on a podest high up near the ceiling in our living room. my paint dried almost instantly on the brush...that way it was very hard to paint something. also the paint in the bottles got very thick quite fast...now i moved down to floar level and since then my paintconditon has radically improved... i know that probably wont help...well you could open the fridge while painting...nah, that would not be a very economic solution...

@ Von Domm...thanks. I actually get really agitated before flying...and during take off. Then when up in the air I really enjoy it. Its a great excuse to watch 16 hrs of movies, and drink a lot of 'free' booze.

@ Weety. Yes. I think I will put him on a big scenic base. He is not very stable at all. It is hard to tell as its all white metal...the the facial expression and the sculpt is pretty good...

Though I found this model today which might have been better.....maybe next time I have a friend in the states...and have some money to spare.

Haha. Yes it does Neil! My town finally got a GW store after I left...so I may pick up a few bits and pieces. Expect to get everything from the 'generic' model shop though.

And I hear its freezing. My warmest clothing is currently a pair of jeans and a very thin 'fashion' cardigan...which I wear in the office if the a/c is a bit much. Its about 35c here now at 5pm in the afternoon.

OOO are you comming back to blighty now! If you are comming to the south west it will be cold, any other part of the country expect snow... I recomend longjohns/leggings under the trousers, several vests, two pairs of socks, a jumper and a coat, two scarves and a hat.

Also the tories are back in again so make sure you act british at the airport or they will deport you for being a foreigner come to steal our (non-existent) jobs and commit acts of terrorism.

Haha. Well. I am a only child...so I can't really 'afford' to come home but I kind of have to. I have my own little project management and policy formation company. Its very small. Its just me. I just started it this year about 6 or 7 months ago. Before that I worked in BPO but I decided I didn't like it so...sort of took a leap of faith which seems to be working.

Haha Weety...just saw your comment. I am actually going straight to Devon to see my mum's bride of honour and best friend who I have seen in years but who is now quite old (she is about 20years older than my mum I think). I can tell you the thought of 18hrs flight then a 5 hr drive, and then the next day another 5 hour drive to the land of hobbits is not appealing.

Don't get me started on the Tories.

Voted Green in last election...though...my postal ballot didn't arrive...so...erm. Mentally I voted green...technically I was disenfranchised.

Ah.

BPO is Business Processing Outsourcing, and KPO is Knowledge Process Outsourcing.

Think call centres for BPOs, and call centres full of accountants for KPO.

It is good for both economies (say US and Philippines, or UK and India) no matter what people say. There aren't a finite number of jobs...the difficulty comes in creating new ones...in new industries. So call centres are old industries for Europe/US but new for Asia...the trouble being the new industry for Europe/US is supposed to be the 'Green Revolution' but it didn't materialize...Interesting area of business...

Sorry getting a bit carried away there...:-)

To be honest I am not sure about the German BPO market...but I imagine it is niche, and therefore might be worth a go! :-)

nono what i´ve meant was joining an irish callcenter...they are constantly on the lookout for german native speakers to work there...so i´ve heard...

here in germany the costs for working on your own and also for emplayment is to high, thats why callcenters go to india and all them other places in the first place...

Well...

I am home. if I had left a day later I wouldn't have been able to make it...well..not with a car journey in single figers!

sorry for the lack of update...I am a bit stressed. Whilst I have found my jetbikes, I cannot find my riders or beastmen!!

Crud!

The only place they may be is in the shed...which is currently -9 so I am not too tempted to go out and explore.

On the plus side I found a necromunda Juve I never new i had.

Blackhand...I found my rat comic, will scan you a pic of some of the art....

Awesome stuff always good to see someone come back into the fold. If I could offer one piece of advice it would be to prime your miniatures.

I was probably at the same stage painting wise, as you 2 years back. I didn't realise just how much of a difference priming makes. I'm not sure what you can get out there, but a Grey Auto Primer is awesome.

Primer makes your colours more vibrant and allows your paints to key into the miniature, it also helps shade the miniature. Seriously you will be amazed.

I have gone a bit overboard and switched a LP player for 5 boxes of models.

I also can't find anywhere my Roughriders (have the 'mounts' but no riders! Dang!) And my beastmen - oh my beastmen!

Sadly seemed to have lost a whole box of models.

Happy new year!

Hello Everyone!

Apologies for being an exceptionally lazy/bad blogger!

Christmas - odd this year. I felt a bit like the guy from Garden State.

I have gone a bit overboard on models. Indeed I have probably doubled my number. I now have a lot of Orks, and Warhammer Empire, Breton, and erm a hell of a lot of Khorne.

I also have a cave troll. Some boars. A dragon. And some War Pigs for my halflings! A landraider. A load of bikes.

I didn't need the LP player so it was a good swap. Saying that I technically need no warhammer.

On top of that I have about 100 perry/victrix models. Not including the 60 Praetorian I ordered from Wargames (still to arrive).

Um. I also picked some SOB off of ebay...

I was looking at getting more models off ebay, but then I realized that my partner - who is very supportive - would literally go ballistic - and I mean literally - if I turned up back in Manila with a suitcase full of models, Sharpe boxset and 3 omnibous editions of the Black Company.

I will try and take some pictures tonight of what I have.

I still haven't found my blooming beastmen.

BTW...pls let me know if any of you know what colours I need to paint redcoats/praetorians.

Anyway, I hope you all had a great holiday, met up with family, had a drink, didn't drive, went out and saw what you could find!

Ps. I am thinking of merging all the blogs into one...a good idea? It would just be a WIP blog then...not separate halfling, SM, IG, bits and bobs...oh

Bringing back my Fimir (HQ)...looking on the price of Fimir (metal) on ebay...wow!

man the numbers you´re massing...this will take ages...i don´t envy you as i have lots on my own to do...new year´s like same year...

when you say literally ballistic you mean that she will shoot you with a gun right? Heheheha sorry. The LP player swap is definatly financially sound - minis have gotta be worth more. But don't for gods sake buy any more. Did you ever see that programme 'shopaholics' its an addiction you know.

@ Von Domm. I could keep them separate I guess...I'll go take some pictures now...

@ Weety. I was going to make some sort of comment about how she is short, full of noxious gas and liable to explosions. 2 of those are true haha...

I can't a. store any more models b. afford any more models...

will post some pics in a few mins....
