Here is another question: Can/have the orks Loot a titan? I've wanted to make a "looted titan" for some times for apocolypse games, and I was thinking of buying a titan i liked the rules of and "orking it up" and calling it my looted titan. I would use the same rules for the normal titan, but it would be for my ork army and i was just wondering if fluff wise that is possible? I know Wazzdakka once single handedly took down a titan, but my friend says that the imperium will blow up there titans if they ever loose them in battle, is this true?

also: Any ideas of what Imperial titan i should use?

Pretty much.

The Old Ones were attacked by the Necrontyr firstly but since the Old Ones had access to the webway they were easily able to push the Necrontyr back until they were little more than a minor irritation. The Necrontyr did not learn of the C'tan until later and eventually the C'tan with their new Necron slaves were able to crush the Old Ones.

It is unclear if the Old Ones literally made some of the ancient races or if they simply enhanced races which already existed. Personally, given the words and wording chosen in the Necron Codex I would opt for the latter, that the Old Ones enhanced existing races. According to the Codex they manipulated and nurtured many races, choosing the most warlike and making them more psychic to defend themselves against the C'tan.

These newly [or enhanced] psychic races are what caused the warp to become turbulent and turned the existing warp entities into ravening predators. The Enslavers are drawn to psykers especially as they use them to create warp portals which allows them ingress to the material world where they then enslave other races to do their bidding. Since the Enslavers were being attracted in ever greater numbers, destroying the young races in the process the C'tan decided to wait for the Enslavers to thin the psyker population and for the galaxy to throw up new life which they could then enslave and consume themselves and so went into stasis.

So in short.. Its all the old ones fault!

A warhound with a big set of orky teeth bolted on like their glyphs to its mouth would look great. make one of the arms looks partially torn off and replaced with an over the top big shoota variant if you can .

Ey, i was reading this thread looking for awnsers to some questions i have. I hope you can awnser me.

Can a lonely ork produce spores if he fights enouth or he needs the waagh! of others to start dropping spores?

Also, something i really wish to know: How many spores are produced by an ork everytime he fighs or do orky things? is there any formula that say if you do x fights you produce y spores?

Can Grots evolve into orks or something like that? Are just borned orks childs (or at least very youth orks) when they get out the ground?

Also i'm curious about what kind of squigs species exist and if there is any that could be a mount for a full grown ork.

You know more about 40k lore than me, so i' looking for your wisdom.

An ork gives spores off all his life. With a massive output when he dies. Theoretically one ork could produce enough spores to sire a new population. But because so few spores initially germinate/find a suitable area to grow. You'd see a very slow growth of the ork ecosystem. Probably grots/snotlings to begin with. Then once enough of them have grown, shed spores and/or died gretchin and so forth until enough ork lifeforms grow to see orks emerging. Then the waaagh! gets building. No definite numbers of spores. I always imagined it was like how we as humans shed skin cells. But by bit constantly happening. When an ork pod grows underground what it becomes seems to be based on how many orks are living in the area. If you have a high squig/grot/snotling/gretchin population already you'll see more orks emerging from them. But if there isnt the lower ork lifeforms will more likely sprout up. As these seem to provide the foundations for the orks ( slave labour/food supply ). Not sure about the squig species. Nothing stopping you from modelling a bunch of orks riding oversized ones if you like though. Plus as far as I know ork life forms stay what they grew as. So gretchin stay that way and orks come out slightly less bulky ( apprently the size roughly of a human teenager). But the more they fight the more muscle mass they get.

Also, is there anything that prevent orks to be good guys if they can keep fighting and doing ork things?

Orks aren't good or evil. They exist to fight and don't think on issues of morality. They just want bigger fights and shinier gubbins. They could inadvertently prevent worlds in the imperium from being destroyed by engaging a threat aimed towards them ( such events have been set up like the Octarius orks fighting a hive fleet. ). But they dont understand notions such as honour or duty. They're just there for a scrap.

And there is also the Mercenary orks. The orks who have a lust for shiny thngs and teeth greater than most orks and will do Mercenary work for anyone who will hire them (also called Freebooters). These orks can work for the imperium, Tau (i belive?), other ork clans (though these freebootas are looked down upon in most ork society if they work for other races) or really any other army that hires Mercinaries for fighting (so no daemons and nids for sure... but im not sure about eldar, or chaos?).

In short, orks don't really follow the sort of morality we use, as it's a human idea of morality and the orks have their own system. Admittedly, this system they have doesn't really deal with issues such as good or evil, but that's because it doesn't need to; orks rarely if ever devote time to such philosophical nonsense.

How do orks get their names?

Orks  @ 2011/01/02 16:04:03

To get an Orks name I'd imagine the Warboss looks at what that Ork is doing at the time he wants to get his attention, mixes in an insult if the Ork is smaller and yells profanity until either the said Ork answers, or the Warboss gets within arms reach of him and can therefore strangle him instead of talking.

Why cant lootas actually use other races weapons (along with their rules)

Orks  @ 2011/01/08 12:24:34

Post by: Lexx

There has to be a balance between fluff and actual in game terms. If space marines followed fluff by wrote there would be no reason to play 40k as it would just be space marines duking it out and wiping the floor with everything else for example. And lootas would all be firing battle cannons.

Not ordnance weapons only heavy weapons and lower. because it does seem kinda odd that they are called lootas and then use only ork weaponry.

I think you need to use your imagination a little here. The Deffguns that they use actually ARE heavy weapons from all the other races, although heavily modified. This is an instance of where game balance is more important than fluff, but there's nothing stopping you from imagining that the Deffguns actually are looted rocket launchers or whatever. The only thing that actually says that they aren't is the statline, but that can be chalked up to the ork modificiations.

And because its a looted weapon its likely not in too good shape. So deffguns can be imagined as clobbered together parts of stolen/looted weaponry for cosmetic terms.

I've always thought this in regards to Ork names...
I'm of the mindset that they earn their names from their peers, commonly influenced by their interests, behaviors, and achievements. Something that evolves over time. Previous to that, any youngling Ork would commonly be referred to, or addressed, by a simple "Oi!, ya git!", "'Ey yoo!"...or whatever colorful euphemism, or "kulturally" popular insult is floating around the warband. Only when an Ork earns "respekt" does his name stick. At which point, if they get tough enough, they may gain some measure of control of what is added to the name, or change it..."You lot gotta call me dis!"
Just my two teef...

In the previous codex they actually did use Imperial weapons. From what I remember, they sucked, but were kindda neat. I wish they kept burna boyz in boyz mobs. Ive thought many times, "yanno a PK is great and all, but have a couple burnas instead would be much better"
