well i think (and my opinion is only based on hearsay) that the american government is only interested in its people to be consumers and not producers it seems to me...if they would think otherwise they would not let it happen that so many companies produce in cheap countries and then sell it to the americans...(i am obviuosly not a fan of globalization...)

The new lieutenant leading the platoon was not happy, he had lost more men than he cared for, and it had to be some thing to do with the execution of the battle plan. He searched the records from his assistant, and then looked about the battlefield. The platoons were still fighting due to the Kommissars urging them on, along with the ferocity of the battle priests. In fact that big one with 1st platoon was impressive, he made a note to avoid angering that one, he watched in rapt fascination as the huge Father Orlov ripped a enemy sentinel apart, and then charged an enemy Vanquisher with his eviscerator screaming litanies of hatred at it, the armor tore away and the tank came to a dead halt, smoke billowing from many places.
The Kommissar, a female he noted was shouting orders and firing her pistol, while hacking at the enemy with a powersword. Couldn't blame her no, he looked at the sgt.'s of the platoons and saw them either die, or leading alongside the Kommissars. The men? No, they were acting out their orders. The support units? they were hammering away if they were not killed or badly injured.
The Tanks? those not burning from enemy fire were also advancing and firing on their counter-parts. He needed to find someone to blame, and then he spotted a unit, a motley assortment of thuggish looking veterans, they were standing near several burned out tanks and support vehicles and drinking! Now that he remembered, they had arrived later than the plan called for, and it must be due to their drinking and disregarding the battle plans! That was it! He would not get blamed for the loss of these men under his command if he could pin the blame on those hooligans over there. Their leader wore a a shoulder guard with a honorifica symbol Oh even better! a hero who had slacked off would look nice in the records book for his ability to bring disciplinary actions!
As soon as the fighting was wrapped up, he would discuss this with the kommissar and have the Hooligans brought up on charges! This would be a good way to make sure he didn;t get the blame for losing the men, how could he when support for his attack was slow in showing up, and innebriated at that!

People like this exist, they are why some folks' lives get unnecessarily complicated
oh so true...and to make it even worse they are often high ranking and with lots of elthal power to rain upon mere mortals...
during my time in the army i quite saw a lot of these would be soldiers acting command and didn´t know jack about anything.... did that stop them? no way... even worse they were so frustration sure and self confident...and most times officers to...it is always a sight to see a sarge eyballing a lieutenant....cause of the dumb thing he made us mere footsloggers do...

With parts of the enemy routed, the Khadrovian forces took time to clean up, and recognize that they had won. This city that was to be their ambush, the death trap that would break them, had turned into a victory instead. Vasily and his men were sitting on one of the enemy turrets that had landed on the street level,(after they had made it explode off the tank behind it) and had broken out the stash case and were celebrating, this time they were all there, and unscathed, minus a few minor burns and scratches that is.
Vasily spotted the kommissar speaking to a wildly gesticulating platoon officer, occasionally, he would point and she would look their way. He was starting to not like the amount of times this was happening, and was about to walk over to see what all the fussing was about when the officer turned and left as she started in their direction in a gait that meant she was about to be all business like with them.
"Sgt. Vasily", she said, here eyes looking hard as steel. "The Lieutenant of the first platoon has asked that I look into charges he has brought against you and your men!"
All stood up at that. Staying calm, he asked, "What charges Teona?" he used her first name to help defuse any anger she may have towards him and the gang.
"Sgt Vasily, you and you men are charged with dereliction of duty, endangering your fellow soldiers, and being drunk on duty!" she said calmly, "I hereby remand you to in house arrest and off duty until further notice, restriction to your billets until further notice as I investigate these charges."
"What about the next fight? you know we never shy away from battle Kommissar!, you know these charges are bogus!, well except the last one, but that helps us fight better, as we ignore the burning and stinging of the explosions like this." he argued.
She closed her eyes, bowed her head for a moment, then she looked him in the eyes. "I have made my declaration of investigation, do not make this hard for both of us." she said.
Meanwhile, from his vantage point Lt. Igor Troucesceau sniggered behind his field glasses. "What is so amusing lieutenant?" came a deep grumbling voice behind him, He lowered the lense piece and turned, towering over him was the massive battle priest., a large bottle in his hand, he smiled at the priest, "Oh just seeing things aright in the world is all brother." Orlov stood to his full height,(just how big was he?) and he smiled, "Well, as long as we can celebrate the defeat of our enemies in battle, we can toast!" the bigger man said, 'Oh and that's Father Orlov by the way."
"ahem, Lt. Troucesceau, father, hehehe!" hje replied as the father poured some vodka for him, (such an unrefined drink, he preferred the rarer Amasec himself) "you aren't the nervous type are you Lt? We need a strong platoon leader for the kinds of battles we get into! This is one of our better fights, and the way Vasily and his men cleared those tanks! of course, I couldn't take all of the kills myself, that would be a prideful thing to do, best let them do it!" he cheerfully said.
"Uh which one is Vasily?" the Lieutenant asked. Orlov craned his neck over the trench, Oh, he is talking with Kommissar Zvedvedov over there." he pointed and he saw it was the hooligans he wanted to have punished, now he realized that he had made charges of a severe kind against the most decorated hero of the entire Konfederacy Ground Forces! he was sweating as he gulped down the harsh, burning liquid. "oh that is Vasily, huh?" he said. "Doesn't look all that big from here." he said.
Orlov straightened up, I will figure that your recent transfer hasn't allowed you the proper time to know of these guys, they are the best tank killers with an unimpeachable record sir."
"Oh, well then, I hope that he can also deal with all kinds of problems then." he replied to Orlov. "Indeed he can." the priest replied. "I have others of the flock to see to." and with that he was gone, he saw the way the Lt paled when he looked at Vasily speaking with the Kommissar, he did not like that look, and he would find out why.
After the area was secured, Vasily and the "Violators" gathered around so he could brief them. They were chatting loudly as usual, and he had to get their attention, "LISTEN UP!, word is the new lieutenant has it out for us!" they grumbled, "Fortunately, all we have to do is stay put for a bit as our Kommissar does her investigation and not give him any more ammo, or her anymore grief than she has already having to deal with this situation. Seems he didn't like the losses, saw us celebrating after cleaning the tanks out, and decided to save his own ass with us as a scapegoat." he let that sink in.
Rostove was first to speak up. "So what you are saying is we are "grounded" from further ops till this clears?"
"Exactly right, and we have to behave ourselves as well, no getting hammered 'till further notice." Vasily replied.
"Oh no, I will die of thirst without my precious vodka!" said Rat as he feigned fainting backwards. The group laughed.
Vasily said, "That is correct, we have to drink Recaf or water for the meanwhile, We'll be pulling guard duties to stay busy."
Meanwhile Kommissar Zvedvedov wandered about the base, her mind trying to see what would defend Vasily and the men best against Troucesceau's charges, she wound up where she would normally go when troubled, the chapel. Father Orlov spotted her, "Ah Kommissar! to what do I owe this pleasant surprise?" he boomed.
"Oh, Father Orlov, I was wandering about, clearing my head." she admitted. "What has Vasily done to concern you so? is he on another of his dates with the nurse staff, that boy is incorrigible!, and blind!" he asked?
She blushed when she realized what he had said, and recovered fairly quick, "No that's not it Father, I am dealing with charges brought against him and his unit." She told him.
"Charges? what kind?" Orlov asked.
"The kind that could get men shot or sent to a Penal unit." she answered.
Orlov gave her an appraising look. "Our new Lieutenant was acting odd earlier, was it he that brought these charges to you on Vasily?" She nodded silently. He knew that while it was impolitic to have kommissars and soldiers have any sort of relations, something existed between her and Vasily, oh Vasily may be hiding behind the whole "fraternization" codes and such, but he could see how she had grown fond of that man in spite of the rules, Kommissars lead lonely lives it seemed and Vasily somehow had managed to crack that armor. He then spoke,
"Listen, I have faith that you will find the legal edge to get Vasily and the others off the hook while maintaining discipline in the ranks, of course Vasily get's a tad hard to control with being a beloved hero of the Konfederacy and all, but has he ever failed in his duty?"
She shook her head, "No, and that is the main crux, He has such a fine record, but is also usually earning it dangerously with that cache of booze they carry to battle."
"HA! who doesn't have something on them in battle to soothe their nerves?" the big priest laughed aloud. "I think that if you are to investigate one, then also look at the record of Troucescaeu as well! See why he is so worried about his record being tarnished and why he has it in for Vasily." He then added, "In my profession, it is usually the ones with guilty minds that lash out the most at those who are worthy of praise my dear."
She smiled, she knew that all of this would have an impact on her dealings with Vasily in the future, but she would investigate the Lieutenant as well. "Thank for your advice Father. I have much to think about that may help me."
"Anytime, now where is that cloth? I need to clean my weapon!" and he wandered off to leave her alone.

I'm dissapointed vasily won't be up to any action for a while (or will he? ), but that's all part of a good story's plot- you need a break from it until the big stuff happens.

yep the Mangalores represent a slice of orks quite good... stuborn and brutal and not that bright^^ and a fairer colored version of orks was also my intention to create orks whenever i get around to that project...not in the nearer futeur tho...^^

He was interrupted by a voice that spoke, yet had not made noise until it did so. "I see that you consider yourself a man of taste Lieutenant." Troucescaeu almost dropped his drink, he leaped up and placed the glass of amasec down on the table. "how dare you interrup.....Forgive me! I had no idea that you were S.C.H.M.E.R.T.Z.!" he said as he saw who had cut into his reveries. "I was going over some plans for tomorrow's mission." he let out to the ornately dressed man in his quarters.
Standing a head taller than him, in golden armor with silver filigree stood the imposing figure of power, a shield on his arm, a stormbolter and force sword at his back. "I will let the shock of seeing me for the first time excuse your ill manners Lieutenant,,,this time, I am "Inspector General" Mikhail Illyavik Romanov and I am from the organization that you blurted out." he said as he picked up and sniffed the decanter of amasec, hm, a little over twelve years old, the Kedgeree is a little old, but still viable, and the bread is fresh." he said as he poured a snifter of amasec for himself.
Troucescaeu replied, "Thank you sir, he-help yourself." the larger man looked at troucescaeu, "I see the map section is a very bad place for tank support, by both our forces and the enemy, an interesting attack route. explain why you chose it." Romanov ordered.
Composing himself, "Of course sir." he thought, how is he so huge!? It's not just the power armor he is in. "The route should be able to allow us to move albeit slowly, but we could get aerial support instead of tank support since the enemy seems to rely heavily on tanks to support and less on infantry." He did not say anything about his wanting to avoid the use of the hero of the Konfederacy that he had brought charges against. "If this plan succeeds the way I think it will, we can then have engineers clear a roadway for tank support and surprise the enemy at this town nearby, a lethal blow to their supply lines once we secure the town!"
"An interesting plan Lieutenant, hopefully there will be no hitches such as the enemy already covering that route for such a thing." Mikhail said.
"Sir, my latest patrols indicate the enemy has not even considered the pass a problem as they expect us to bypass it due to the same reasons that they would, it is not hospitable to tracked or wheeled assault vehicles." He replied confidently.
"Good, now where can I find Sgt Vasily? I have something to discuss with the man." Mikhail asked
How many people has this Vasily befriended? Troucescaeu thought as he answered, "Aheh, you can find him in section blue 4 sir, he has gotten some time off for the present."
"Very well, I will be leaving to see him now, and thank you for the amasec, it was a nice vintage Lieutenent." He bowed, as the Lieutenant saluted. As he was leaving, Father Orlov was coming in, making complaints about the special Spetznats troopers guarding the entryway. "Damned insufferable wind up soldiers! MIKHAIL! a pleasure to see you my friend! how goes the Inspection business?" he said embracing Mikhail who embraced him back, "Good to see you too Anton! I was about to speak to another old friend, and you?"
"Oh I was going to speak tot he good lieutenant here about tomorrow, morale, and other righteous things" he said glancing Troucescaeu's way. The lieutenant did not like the glare Orlov gave him. Mikhail Romanov was a bit taller than Orlov!
As both men left chatting away, he sighed relief and sat back down, "What kind of freaks are they breeding these days?" he said to himself.
Meanwhile, as they walked , troopers in tow, "So, I see you have kept to shaving your head down a bit." said Mikhail, "All the better for fighting!" Orlov replied. "Look that lieutenent,m he is new and already has launched charges against Vasily and the sqaud he leads, I know that is none of your concern, but I fear he is looking to make a career out of scapegoating his failures onto others Mikhail."
"Oh, I have seen his kind before Anton, and they always think they have it all under control, then a hammer lands on their plans and shatters the plan and the psyche of such a weak mind as his. But I have a lot more leeway than most and I have a favor to ask of you, I want you to keep the platoon of yours safe and help them get out of any crap fest he leads you into."
"Of course Mikhail, they are my "flock" and I their shepherd, I will be ready, I assume you have a "special" thing planned yourself?" Orlov asked.
"You know I can never be so honest as you can good father." Mikhail replied as they entered the Blue section of the base trench-works.

i have not seen a single lie i would have needed to change... the whole plot is an entertaining read and i could see lots of people to look for this kind of storyline...also and this is quite a big feature you write it in small heaps so it has a tendency to develop itself as you go along...meaning we the readers and you the author might not know whats behind the next corner... funny feature and very much unique to the whole storybuilding process... you can only get something like that in the internet^^

Lt. Troucescaeu was pleased with himself, he and his staff were in the back of their Chimera APC when it, and all of the APC's stopped, his plan was coming together, the enemy, not placing sentries or much of anything at the valley here would pay when he and his forces arrived to hit them hard where they least expected it! He and his staff clambered out of the Chimera, he smiled as he saw squads forming up their platoons, Sentinel Assault variant walkers also ready along with some of the forward scout models stepping through to the valley and it's rocky terrain. He addressed the force. "Men! today we strike a blow at the enemies vitals! they left no one to watch the valley we are using to reach them, and I have staked our reputations that we will have them defeated and waiting for our armored column to arrive to help out by dinner time!"
The Kommiassars and Priests lead the men in a hearty "HUZZAH!" before getting them prepared for movement. "Move out, and maintain silence."
And with that, his company was on it's way, the junior officers leading their platoons, he spotted Kommissar Zvedvedov and the massive Father Orlov amongst 1st platoon. He knew the Father and himself were off to a rocky start over that Vasily fellow, but order and discipline need apply to all equally, he would understand that once things settled down. Now he would prove to command that he was worthy of a higher promotion, and possibly a larger command, he would be a hero once this was pulled off! All because he, Igor Troucescaeu, had the foresight to plan a pre-emptive strike on this forward supply facility of the enemy!
Meanwhile, musing about Vasily and his men, Kommissar Zvedvedov marched alongside the platoon, all good men in their own rights, loyal, steadfast soldiers who were always ready to do their jobs. "oh Nikolai, why can't you stay out of trouble?" she whispered to herself. If anything occurred, she was sure the men would shout it out. She did not know that Father Orlov was watching her. "Kommissar, I wonder if you are wrapped in prayer, or still worrying about our illustrious Sgt friend?" he said to her as he came alongside her.
"Father, I am like a book to you, aren't I?" She would have to rectify that at some time. She looked up at him, "I really should just make a decision, but if I make one, then we may lose Vasily and his unit, another, and the Lieutenant will be so hard to deal with." She said.
"BAH! you are Kommissariat! you can make any decision that you like and all have to suck it up and be quiet!" He said. "Besides, you and I know the Lieutenant is a popinjay who is puffing his own chest up to look good to command, and he is a man who has yet to understand the subtler ways of command, combat will re-shape him as it does all who are touched by it, you need to remember that strength of your own and enforce your will on the company." he finished.
She smiled, "True, you always remind me of who and what I am and help me regain my moral compass, you are a true mentor to me Father." she admitted.
"Anytime my child, just try and remember that more often, I am always here for the company, and that includes you." He said, "I just wish we had Vasily with us, that combat restriction must be making him itch."
She laughed at that thought, an itchy Vasily. She was about to speak when an explosion up ahead happened. One of the sentinel scouts was just scrap and smoke, but no sign of what destroyed it. "Take cover and set up the mortars!" she ordered instantly as it was second nature.
Through the smoke, there was movement, slow movement, shambling movement, "Enemy troops! fire!" ordered the platoon sarge. Mortars lobbed up and over the rocks and boulders, plumes of smoke and dirt flew high as they landed all over the enemy zone. "Cease fire, cease fire!" was ordered by the Lt. He wanted to see what they were attacking in the middle of nowhere, he used his magnocculars and saw the field littered with corpses, there were still moving figures, in uniforms, and the ones knocked over by the mortars that had not been obliterated, were standing back up!? "IMPOSSIBLE!" he blurted out. But there they were, the ones with legs, but maybe a missing arm were back up and shambling towards the Khadrovian lines, the ones missing legs, dragged themselves forwards.
Seeing things clearly, Father Orlov and the other priests made the sign of the Aquilla and began prayers, litanies of revulsion and hatred at such an affront to all that was normal and holy. Kommissar Zvedvedov spoke, "Now we know why the enemy didn't seem to have any defenses, these did not register on the augurs as they were looking for warm bodies, but these are walking corpses, by the Emperor! what have the enemy done?"
Troucescaeu was beside himself, this was not what he envisioned, this was unreal to him, he was locked in shock by the revelation. He watched as the shamblers waded in to the fire power of the sentinels and the platoons. He did not notice as the hills above were also showing signs of more shambling horrors emerging from behind boulders, bearing down on the company on a wide front.
He did not notice the activity on a hilltop, one where torches burned and incense had been discharged as a wild ritual, from a book on a lectern was being performed, one where the enemy was overseeing the attack and making their army march from.
Father Orlov readied his eviscerator, "They are getting too close, make ready for close combat!" But the Kommissar spoke next, "The ones shot in the head are staying down! aim for the head!" she barked as her bolt-pistol snapped off another round, another head exploding like an overripe melon. "Keep firing!"
The shambling enemy did not take cover, nor fall back, nor cry out, they just kept on moving towards the soldiers, their arms reaching out to them. Behind them, specialists of the enemy were setting up missile launchers to strike the sentinel walkers down.
Lt. Troucescau was unable to find words for this. His dream was falling apart before his very eyes! But it could be saved if his men triumphed, "Hold the lines!" he snapped. He was now truly, and thoroughly in the thick of it!
The other veteran units that came with them were doing a great job, living up to their reputation as the cream of the crop, they had one weapon that the shambling horde could not deal with very easily, flamers and heavy flamers, the side flanks of the company were aglow as these men attacked with the cleansing flame of promethium. The other veterans were firing their rifles to make sure the enemy troops died as well.
this is going to get ugly...to say the least i expect than some hearty punch will be landed in that snotty of a face of Troucescaeu ...he earned it big time... against a battailion of zombies to fight...
and the enemy has gained seemingly acces to choas powers...that is new isn´t it?...well about time to see some rather not enough known inquisitor to make his first battling apearance...

i think she acts a bit too stereotypical female... commissars in my book should act if they had balls too...the blooming and bottled up relationship between her and vasily is something that might spice up the thoughts of her but she acts a bit week in the peaceful times...don´t want to correct anything it´s just making me wonder, that is all...
needless to say that i am eagerly waiting on the newest developments to progress...please make that fast!
My friend decided that he was going to stay Nurgle touched in his army due to German Zombies from the same company making Bolt Action, so he will be fielding zombie troopers in his army.
Well, the Khadrovian commissars are raised a bit differently as they have less contact with the main body of the Imperium. But wait, you will see a different side of her soon......
for me german zombies and this for a nurgle army seems a fitting package...on the one side ridiculing the still many folowers of this sorry bunch and on the other side showing their true spirit underneath it all by expressing how emotionless monsters they were...
i think she has to do so...one way or the other... if she comes out alive of that BBQ...

Lt. Troucescaeu was slowly realizing just what kind of trap they had stepped into, he had made the wrong assumption that the enemy did not have anything to defend this area as nothing had shown up on infrared or electromagnetic scans for troops or machines, but these troops were cold, dead, yet moving and attacking! Already, soldiers on the flanks were engaged in hand to hand, knives in hand or swinging the butt of their rifles or bayonets fixed to slash and stab the enemy troopers. The enemy clawed at them, or tried to bite the embattled Khadrovian soldiers.
1st platoon was in hand to hand, the sarge having cracked at the sight of these horrors turning to run, Kommissar Zvedvedov's hand whipped snakelike as she planted the barrel of the bolt pistol at his head and fired, his head exploding as soon as the bolt entered his brain.
With icey death look to her eyes, she yelled, "Now all of you will fight these blasphemies tot he Emperor and send them to hell alongside me RIIIIGHGT?!" and no one else made a move to run, she drew her power sword and activated the field, she fired bolts into head s already long dead, viscera spattering over the field, her sword moved as if possessed, and she decapitated shambler after shambler as the men fought with bayonets and rifle butts. Father Orlov observed the cold fury that had become the Kommissar's demeanor, and he made sure to loudly utter litanies of hate and banishment as he swung ferociously, his eviscerator carving the enemy into smaller bits, heads swung off shoulders, or they were bisected in half, allowing the troops to finish off the remnants. "Keep fighting you faithless Frakers! we have more to kill!" he bellowed. Father Orlov fought as an enraged Bear, the men and women under the command as a pack of wolves on the shambling horde before them, and the Kommissar, she fought as a whirling fury, her face passionless, yet determined, purposeful, her pistol and sword a ballet of death and destruction, if the shamblers grouped on a soldier, she would hack into the mass, laying waste to the writhing mass of bitten soldier and those biting them.
The veterans were also almost out of promethium canisters when they drew their close combat blades, almost short swords, Troucescaeu thinking bitterly of how he had mistakenly allowed Vasily and his hooligans to avoid this death. He finally drew pistol and sword, activating the powerfield himself and ordering his entourage "Prepare to sound a retreat." he said to the vox-caster. The man looked quizzically at him, "Don't you mean a regroup order sir?" the other vets assigned him in this command group all looked at him in a way he did not like. "Yes, yes, of course! regroup! we need to fall back and regroup that's it!" he was sweating, and pale, the men around him could see it on his face.
The ones performing the ritual fueling this battle were lead by a man in uniform, his face bearing a smile. "oh so sweet irony, once we finish here, their bodies will help replenish the ranks, and we will not even re-uniform them, no, let them wear their own uniforms, it will make it all the sweeter when they realize that they are facing what once was theirs!" he chuckled.
Above the ritual, on a ledge, both the enemy and the battle were observed. This was the one, the target, the ritual that the Inquisitorial agent, Mikhail had told and briefed them about.
In a whisper. "Our friends are in a pinch, Rostov, Ogre, Heller, Galier and Marko, take the left side, I'll take the others and hit 'em from the right. No mercy, we are to wipe the bastards all out, Mr. Romanov wants the head of the officer and that will make him happy." they all agreed, "Right boss!" they whispered back. They had been dropped into position a while ahead of the company via grav chutes and by a different Valkyrie so as not to tip off the Lieutenant. Theirs was a specially S.C.H.M.E.R.T.Z. sanctioned kill mission. At his command they separated, and moved to position, all had a target, and no one was to escape. Each had just enough of their personal bottles to take one swig for luck, and then awaited the command from the boss. He looked down below, and saw the raging battle.
Teana Zvedvedov had not had a clean upbringing, orphaned and fighting for herself before being made into one of the Konfederacy political officers, she had always excelled where fighting was concerned, she had always shad problems with relating to most other people, and she learned that she had this ability to block all else out as she fought others, to focus like a laser cutter on the targets around her, she had passed top of her class in martial prowess, and had been able to be coldly dispassionate when meting out punishments. Her academy nick name was the "Frost Queen" as no one could seem to get her to accept a date with them. Nothing seemed to melt her heart, and now, in combat that frosty demeanor was back on, full force, moving so fast that some swore later on she had more than one set of arms in action.
Father Orlov wa sthe opposite, he was enraged, these shambling corpses were an affront to him and his faith, a spit in the eye of the God Emperor! a base travesty! He would eliminate all that came in reach of his massive eviscerator, he caught brother Justinian and his squad reduced in size, surroiunded and about to be swamped by shambling horrors when Orlov cleared a path for them to join and fight in such a way as to clear a path, they were isolated, cut off, 1st platoon had not been able to hear the order to regroup, and had become a pocket of life amongst a sea of dead, animated flesh. The worst part was watching fallen comrades rise again, as they too were now shamblers, making the horde even worse than before.
The Major looked at the scene below, he was in charge of this fight now, the loyalists below had no chance! as long as the ritual kept being fed by the priests at the altar behind him nothing could stop the great work of the Gods!
Vasily gave the signal, guards had their throats slit as they had turned away to watch the ritual, or the carnage below. Grenades landed amongst the priests as the remaining guards were shot down by rifle and melta fire.
The Major turned, this was not how the Colonel told him it was to go, they was no way they could have known! unless.... He drew his weapons, he would counter attack!
He shot at one of the attackers, Galier fell, wounded by the shot. The Major swung and Hellier was down, his leg sliced and cauterized, he was about to do more, but his power sword clanged against another, this was a keening, screaming weapon, combining the ferocity of a chain sword but the teeth were power fielded! "YOU!" he now knew who had dared to interrupt the ritual, "Yes, me." was all Vasily said as he and the Major went into combat, sparks flying as their weapons met again and again!
Below, the shamblers all fell to the ground, their mobility no longer being sustained by the dark ceremony above. Orlov and his fellow remaining priests assembled the men as best they could, Kommissar Zvedvedov regaining her semblance of human warmth, the Lieutenant his composure, and his wits.
The battle above was going badly for the Major, Vasily had a power weapon, and the skill to use it against him! worse, there were also several of his cohort pressing in with blades of their own as well. Knowing he was finished, he denied them victory, he turned his own sword and impaled himself on it. "Do not think this is over Khadrovian scum, death is just a new beginning, and the Gods will have me back in their service, one way or another!" and with that last breathe, he fell off the mountain side.
Looking down, over the edge, Vasily let out, "What a drama queen that one!" the men laughed, "Call in the lift, our job is done, but we only have the bastards' cap!"
he ordered.
"Boss, Gallier don't look so good." said Petrovich, their medkit guy. "Chatter, snap it up! we need to get going now!" Vasily snapped. Soon, the Valkyrie came and transported them back to base, Hellier would need a new leg, and Gallier, Gallier was their one true casualty, he died on the table.
The attack was able to press on, but with less troops and sentinels than it started with.
ah... good to see the bunch all together...
so Zvedvedov showed another side of her... an altogether different side... whats so special abouz vasily that he can even melt the frost queen... ^^
i hope now is payback time with that Lt... someserious butkicking... so many lives los due to his stupidness...
and now vasily and his crew are a wild card at the sleeve of mikhail...cool development!
when the crew hit the scene i even had goosebumps^^
no^^ eating is done^^ as is on some sleeping in a few minutes... this one was a really actionpacked installment...the bloodtoll was big... so much vets lost and also so much other troopers...i guess even so the Lt. will try to wriggle himslef out of that too...slimy little twerp that he is...

Dragon lamp eyes shine in the dark, seeking what has made that noise in his lair! His head turning to look around, his eyes lighting up the den, like spotlights in the night. His throat rumbles a mighty growl from in his chest. "Treasure seekers that disturb the dreaming forfeit their lives." he grumbles.
At the base, Mikhail met Vasily and the squad with his own retinue. "Who are all these people Mikhail? or if you told would you have to kill me?" Sgt. Vasily joked.
"Now Nikolai, I would hardly waste the Emperor's blessed ammo for such a trivial matter. Since you are short two men, we got you some new assignments, Traeger and Vochenko, they will take the place of your one dead man and the one with the missing leg, you are under strength, and they are veterans who come highly recommended." Traeger was a hard looking fellow with some fight scars on his face, and Vochenko apparently had been through his own rough times as the wiry man seemed to have that look that said he had seen plenty and wanted to hit it back.
"So, what about the others?" Vasily asked. To which Mikhail replied, The stunning redhead in armor and equipped almost like me is junior Inquisitor Valentina, then that one with all the augmetics is Justinian, a Admech boy, my chirurgeon, scribe, bodyguards, and pet psyker."
Several squads of Spetznats were loading up into Valkyries. "Well, as your friends under Lt. Troucescau are going to keep the enemy busy over at that town base, we may all go and drop in and see what they have hidden inside while they are busy fighting."
"Just need some resupply, and have seen to Hellier's leg." He told Mikhail. "No need, I have a Chiurgeon already for him to fit an augmetic, and you have fresh ammo and gear in the Valks." The Gold armored inquisitor said.
"With the proof now that the enemy has truly and irrevocably turned to the Dark Powers, we have all the stops pulled off, and we go in full measure!" Mikhail said. He managed to climb into the Valkyrie courtesy of the ramp as his massive frame would not allow him to easily use the side door. "We are going in to assess the level of corruption, you get to burn all you like then."
Sgt. Vasily nodded. "No worries then, I hope there are plenty of charges for the Meltas for us to use along with melta-bombs to set." Mikhail replied as his team clambered aboard the vehicle, "Everything you could need is loaded and sitting in the racks for you and the men, and you don't need to hold back, no mercy is word of the day."
Vasily smiled as the ramp closed on Mikhail's Valkyrie, he ran towards the one his men were loading into, the Spetznats were already aloft. "You new guys, all I need from you is to follow my orders, and help with putting the enemy down like rabid dogs, anything else we can worry about later." he said as the ramp closed and the strap he was using clasped in place.
At the edge of the valley, Lt. Troucescau had his forces prepare a line to attack with, anchored by sentinels, as well sentinels to support his center, he had the veterans on either side of his command squad, and the platoons to either side of the line. On the left flank, the fighting wounded and the remaining unharmed members of 1st platoon waited for the attack order. Father Orlov gave a quick prayer for victory to the platoon. Kommissar Zvedvedov watched icily at he squad she had gained after shooting the wavering sgt. "If anyone else wants something to think about, remember the enemy is corrupted and using fell tricks and powers to try and break us! I except all to do as they must for the Emperor, and any who don't......She tapped the butt of her pistol for emphasis. The unit already knew she did not like to resort to summary execution, but when the sgt. turned yellow and would have caused a route had she not so done that.
She swore, if they all survived this, she would deal with that primping Troucescau, As they waited, the enemy sent up a vision flare to ward off the dark, and see what they could. It also allowed the company to see what waited for them, enemy sentinels and light tanks!
so vassily has now a good protegè it seems... a good artist should have someone on his back watching out for him and mikhail is most fitting for that job.
seems also that Lt. Troucescau is in deep now even without the stupid accusations and scapegoating...totally misinterpreted the battle beforehand... now it seems that they need quite a big ration of luck to survive all that is coming for them...i hope he will not go out the easy way by a boltround in his head... i want to see him squirm a bit... like some weeks^^

No worries, I have a mini for the Admech fellow as well as the female inquisitor in training. I just have to do a sculpt on her shield, she has a Kroot pistol to be her holstered inferno pistol. She is based on this model.

aslo that plaid she´s got looks also most stunning... this will be a great mini! good choice...

On board the Valkyrie, the "Violators" discovered plenty of ammo for their rifles, and the same for Sgt. Vasily's Hell-pistol. Fresh water canteens and carapace repair kits for their armor, and even Melta charges. "Looks like your buddy in the shiny armor made good on his promise." Rat said as he replaced his low charge pack for his melta and screwed in a fresh one.
Vasily nodded. "He always does" he replied with a smile as there was a fresh bottle of vodka as well in the supply cabinet, "For good or bad." he finished.
They also found the grav-chutes packs and donned them. "A little tight around the middle" noted Ogre as he struggled to clasp the mid-riff harness together, and was satisfied once the hasp "clicked" into the locked mode.
Sgt. Vasily then said "Alright,m listen up! we are after anything odd, if so, the Inspector General wishes to check it out before we send it to whatever hell-hole it came from, Also the capture or execution of any officers like that Major, or their beloved Colonel if he dares show his face on this planet!" to which the squad cheered. "You new guys need to hold your weight, fight and no one carries you!, chicken out or run and I will kill you myself, understood?" Both men nodded solemnly in agreement. "Fight well and you get to drink with the rest of us." That perked up at least the one named
Traeger grinned broadly, "I will provide plenty of dead heretics then!" he said with a thick Kruegerian accent. Vochenko checked his blade, "I like to scout ahead and do some silent work if you allow me Sarge." he added in a quiet voice, "I used to do tunnel work for the Caskrainean Rangers." That explained a lot about the man's haunted look, Vasily nodded, "Keep that blade sharp then soldier." he said in respect, the Rangers were well noted in the Konfederation for their odd jobs as well. Mostly covert missions where they slipped silently in, did what they were to do, and slip out again before they were noticed.
He would one day ask how Mikhail had gotten one for this mission. For now, they all prepared for the drop. The Stormtroopers were to provide a secondary distraction as they would drop in a different zone first, do what they could to disrupt the enemy, and allow Mikhail's group and the Violators to drop where they needed to.
Lt. Troucescau was livid, the enemy dared to spring a second surprise on his planned attack! But as he was upset, he was also ready to spring his own surprise. "Lascannon teams, I want those tanks taken out, Bring them down!" was his order. To the platoons, he ordered to t1st platoon, I want you to deal with the infantry, these look alive and warm, Fire Drill Alpha." to which the first rank lay on their bellies, the second rank knelt, and the third rank stood, and fired volley after volley into the enemy platoon.
The LT.'s commands were met with two tanks exploding, another immobilized and the enemy platoon sheared down, but then the enemy was re-inforcing the battle zone with more troops and armored vehicles. The sentinels were hunting and being hunted by their opposite numbers as the battle raged.
One enemy platoon got too close and Kommissar Zvedvedov gave the order as she thumbed the control stud on her sword, "Charge! Make the Konfederacy and the Emperor proud!" This was helped by Father Orlov bellowing above the din, "Whoever kills the most will sit closer tot he Emperor, and I will make sure there will be extra vodka for the man who kills their leader!" as his eviscerator screamed through the air.
1st platoon crashed into the enemy like an avalanche, the sound of armor and weapons colliding with the two groups was heard by all, the bayonets and rifle butts of both platoons ringing and clashing, Father Orlov cut many men down with a satisfying swing. Zvedvedov snarled but here fury was that of a winter storm on Khadrovia Prime, here eyes gave a look that made the enemy soldiers before her falter. The Icy hate transfixing them as her power sword severed arms and heads. The savage fury of the charge caused the enemy to route, and they were cut down as 1st platoon gave chase. "Get into cover" she shouted as she spotted the enemy chimeras advancing, guns chattering away, several men and women of the platoon were down by now.
Overhead the Valkyries opened their ramps and the Spetznats dropped. As they arrived, they landed to the enemy rear and flank, most hurling grenades and the Special Weapon holders firing whatever they needed to for their jobs, Melta, plasma and flamers burned their ways through their selected targets. Now the enemy committed it's final reserves to deal with the new threat to the base.
Once this happened Mikhail gave the signal and his retinue and Vasily's group along with a Spetznats team dropped and took the main building roof silently. They took off the grav rigs and went for the roof entrance hatch. Once inside, they carefully crept in to the lower sections floor by floor, just to make sure the enemy was not behind them as they went to the sub levels, Vochenko and some of the Spetz' used their mono-knives to eliminate sentries silently.
Vasily asked Mikhail, "Where next?" to which Mikhail replied, "why down to the sub-levels and any caverns of course."
As they went down, the Spetznats outside and the Company fought the enemy.
i have to tell you this would be a truly epic battle to fight on a special table...i can imagine these tunnels and ways carved from foamcore and juust wide enough for about two chimeras to drive beside each other...this would be soo cool^^
great read... also i like how you began to portray the two new vets that joined vasily´s group. the tunnelfighter vonchenko i particulary like. i saw that movie "cold mountain" and in the begininning they show the tunnel fights and sappeurs of the american civil war...that sends still shivers down my spine... you need a special frame of mind for this kind of slow and silent killing... it is so close as clase cobat can ultimatly get...
All of the combat would indeed be a wild terrain table with the rocks and town buildings, and then the secondary table for inside the sublevel of the base with corridors for just people.

Ah, I was more basing Vochenko from a more modern setting the one man from Uncommon Valor, there, he was a haunted man for that kind of fighting. But essentially, yes, a man who has been in too many fights yet lived through them to continue on doing it again.
so traeger is someone that will fit easy with the bunch of otherwise misfits warriors^^...
this special form of killing a man so close to him is really seldom found in man...i refer to the deep remorese feeling the soldier has in the movie "All Quiet on the Western Front" where he kills a french man with his bajonette and he has to see the man die and hear his screams.... normaly a human being would shy away for doing that... i have read that many soldiers even looked away of closed their eyes before pulling the triggers...because we really don´t want to provide death to others...yet it seems we are as a race capable to commit great atrocities to our next of kin.... it is a rather disturbing mixture of emotions and consciences in humankind...
and of course you have it in you! now let out even more of it...
Yep, Traeger will fit in well as long as he lives.
Vochenko is used tot he killing by now, but he is still one to mark each of his foes as he remembers each fight, he dies inside a little each time, but is kept aloft due to his faith that he does this for his God Emperor and that he will sit next to Him one day.

Once into the sub-levels, and over half a dozen sentries silenced by Vochenko, who hid them away after he was done, the group came to a hole in the plascrete wall of the sub-levels. They cautiously entered after Vochenko went first and let them know it was all clear.
"That Vochenko is scary good Miklhail." Vasily said. "Enjoy him while you can, he comes back to my party after we are done, Traeger is officially all yours, and Hellier should be up and about soon with his new leg attached." Mikhail replied.
"So, Vochenko is a S.C.H.M.E.R.T.Z. agent." Vasily said aloud. Mikhail simply said, "You could say that." and left it at that.
The place was a cavern, glowing lichen helped to light the way, the tunnel twisted a bit, and the floor was rimed in moisture. "Oh great! Now what?" One of the Spetznats said, before them, the tunnel went three ways.
"Now it get's interesting!" Mikhail said.
Above, the enemy seemed to be split as to what threat to deal with, the enemy of 1st company, or the Spetznats to their flank? The enemy sent infantry to deal with the mostly anti-tank equipped Spetznats Stormtroopers, and the sentinels and tanks with grenadiers to deal with the Infantry company.
Lt. Troucescau saw the danger and gave more orders to bring it down. He was now seeing what a real officer in combat was expected to be. His illusions of the past were melting away in the fires of war. He was now also regretting his decision to "ground" Vasily and his squad, he could really use their skills now. He had sent a call to re-activate Vasily to HQ. Minutes later, as his teams were shrinking, and the enemy tanks were still operational, he got a reply. 'Sir! HQ reports Sgt. Vasily and his men are not on base." That sank in. "WHAT!? How can that be?" Did the man and his whole squad just up and go A.W.O.L.? "Are any of his men on base?" he asked the voxman.
"HQ says Pvt Hellier is getting a new leg and that Pvt Galier is KIA" replied the voxman. "How the hell......??" then he remembered the visit from the Inspector General in the power armor of gold.
Vasily was working under one of "Them?" Once more Lt. Troucescau went pale.
i bet he just wet his pants^^ that lil fether of a Lt... hehe... now he has a glimpse of whats in store for him... if he isn´t really able to turn the tides in thsi fight there will be nothing thats speaking on his account...
better sort your worldly affairs...^^

Mikhail looked at the three way fork. "Sgt. Gregor, take your squad down the left fork, Vasily the right fork, My retinue and I will see what's down the middle." He said. "Yes sir!" snapped Sgt. Gregor crisply. Vasily said "No problem."
"Report back if you find anything unusual." He ordered. The Spetznats Sgt. nodded, Vasily smiled and asked, "What isn't unusual about the enemy sir?" And with that, he lead the "Violators" into the tunnel as the Spetznats also headed off.
Before heading down the middle tunnel, the Inquisitor in training, Valentina spoke, "Sir, why do you allow the Veteran Sgt to be so,,,so familiar with you?"
Mikhail smiled. "That is one way to keep some of your pieces happy Valentina, he is as expendable as any other, but the fact that he is so very good at odd jobs makes him slightly less so." He then added, "Also, as part of cultivating future acolytes and help, it is good to see how they do, and act so that you know what group to add them to."
"Now to see what we can find my pupil." Mikhail finished before walking into the tunnel.
Above, 1st Platoon took cover behind the rocks, crates, building corners, anything the Tanks could target in on them as the Heavy Weapon crews tried to stop the enemy vehicles. One exploded spectacularly as all the cannons from Team 2 speared it, igniting the fuel and ammo.
Two of the Spetznats teams were now in hand to hand fighting as the enemy sought to overwhelm the specialist soldiers, but they seemed to be handling themselves well, until they were getting platoon strength enemy attacking.
Kommissar Zvedvedov saw what was happening, the enemy tanks and sentinels engaging 1st and 2nd company. "Platoon! Our fellow soldiers need our help! Brave Spetznats will die if we do not help them!" she then raised her sword which crackled with power, and said. For the Spetznats! for the Emperor! KILL THE ENEMY!" and with that\, she lead a charge that had the remaining thirty soldiers herself and Father Orlov screaming into the enemy flank.
Several Spetznats lay still as the fighting raged, and the intervention of 1st Platoon added tot he body count as enemy, platoon mates and Spetznats all fell in the swirling melee of swinging weapons, knives, power sword and eviscerator.
Platoons of the attack force were chewed up by battle cannons and multi-lasers of the enemy, and the sentinels of Lt. Troucescau's forces hunted the enemy sentinels in a game of cat and mouse hunting. If one of the tanks stalled , squads would surge over them and plant grenades all over the metal monster, and they would be rewarded with smoke and or explosions inside.
Several minutes of this intense fighting saw the Khadrovians bloodied, yet victorious, the remaining enemy soldiers fleeing tot he hills, the vehicles smoking wrecks.
Lt. Troucescau had ordered reinforcements to help hold and bring medi-vacs in. He walked up to Zvedvedov and said, "Kommissar, I congratulate you on your."...CRACK! went his nose as he saw stars and lights, blood dripped from it. "Lieutenant, as kommissar assigned to this mission, I am letting you know that charges of incompetence, poor planning, and irresponsible abuse of your office will be filed due to the loss of so many of the soldiers in what was claimed to be a simple and easy operation!" she said icily. "Furthermore, you understimated the enemy forces and their determination to fight. You lead us into a trap that nearly saw the failure of this mission in which we went in short of men and equipment, Am I making myself clear?"
He nodded, holding his broken nose. "Cwyshtal" was all he could manage. "Vashiwy ish here, I'm not sure where, but with the Inspector General's party most likewy, ash he countermanded my grounding."
That startled her, She then recovered, "We will discuss any further actions later." she said to him,
"1st Platoon! we are not finished yet!, we go into the enemy building, we may have to support another mission and or do a rescue!" Other squads also volunteered to search all the buildings to see where the missing squad was. Svedvedov moved towards the largest, the HQ building.
Inside they found the bodies of sentries, and followed the trail to the sub-levels.

he is as expendable as any other, but the fact that he is so very good at odd jobs makes him slightly less so
but getting to be an inquisitor must mean to be a not so nice personna after all he is out there to get a dirty job done...
that nose-punch was better than the time in "his last command", when a really posh captain refused to fire his artillery...
he smacked gaunt with his glove and stated "sir, you are uncouth. I challenge you to a bout of merit at your convenience."
Gaunt broke his nose mid-sentence, told the artillery crewmen to fire, turned on the floored captain and said "that was a convenient time for me."
I laughed. A lot.
They really are a good read...
there's a bit in the same book, where a IG platoon are dealing with these 2m diameter metal balls with pilots inside, which rolls along randonly shooting plasma gun shots around.
A colonel's right hand man didn't get hit as the last one rode past, and he lobbed a grenade into it. The last shot it fired before the grenade detonated vaporised the guy's head. from a win to a fail in seconds...

BTW, if you want a non-BL book for a good read, I strongly reccommend "skulduggery pleasant". It's about a living skeleton sorceror detective who gets a 13-year-old apprentice and goes solving mysteries. Wow that storyline sounded crap. Seriously, it's a lot better than it sounds. He isn't the stereotypical sorceror with the hat or anything- he goes around punching people, he's quite witty and he does a load of cool stuff. It's quite similar to...um...dunno...

that's one way to do it...I've known many an adult to buy things like lego for 40k conversions and explaining that it's "for thier kid(s)."
I have a similar excuse...the fact that I'm 5 feet tall and got a high-pitched vioce for my age means I get to go places without getting wierd looks or getting to go to places cheaper...only downside is I have trouble buying games/going to see films that are rated 15+.

Late over here, and all that chasing Shrike and Vik has left me sleepy. I will be back sometime later, more of the underground aspect of the story to come.
The Spetznats squad as they moved down their tunnel heard little. They made note of the condition of the tunnel, as it was coated with webs, or a web like substance. They did not see the makers of the webs. Suddenly, movement from above and behind them let them see the makers at last and the shots fired and the ensuing melee saw the Spetznats attempting to move further down the tunnel as their way back was cut off.
Mikhail and his team found what apparently was a place to store supplies and empty holding cells. "How disappointing!" Valentina pouted. "It seems that we are too late to have any one to interrogate."
Shaking his head, Mikhail noted "But look at the many things we have to play with my acolyte." he said pointed out fuses and explosives. The warriors and Valentina smiled at the crates.
Vasily and his team stalked their way to an overhang, down below, they could see the ampitheatre in the cavern below. Many bodies had been sacrificed, and more were to be sacrificed to what appeared to be dark powers.
"Violators to Investigation, we found something for you to look at." As he said that, Vasily could see enemy soldiers, robed figures, and some officers all preparing some sort of ritual. "Understood, coming to you in a few moments, we have some gifts, courtesy of our hosts." Mikhail replied.
Father Orlov, Kommissar Svedvedov and their squads arrived at he fork. "Now where do you think they went?" the Father asked. She bent down, "The left shows Spetznats bootsoles, the center shows a mix of boots, and the right shows Standard Issues, I say right." to which another voice said, "Very astute Kommissar, if your men would, we have some things to help Vasily and his team out with." indicating the crates as he spoke stood Mikhail, resplendent in his gold armor and purple and white robes.
She nodded, noted the tall redhead with Mikhail, and hoped that Vasily had not already tried to get a date with that one. The Psyker giggled at that moment, making her wonder if he had read such surface thoughts and worked at suppressing such thoughts.
"One squad will guard the left tunnel, just to be safe." she added. "Good, because they have yet to check in, and they are usually prompt" Mikhail added. Father Orlov said a benediction for them.
"Shall we go and join Vasily?" Mikhail offered next.
"Boss, we can't let them continue! we have no idea what they will unleash on our guys up top!" Rostov said to Vasily.
"OKay, time to hit them and hope the Inspector General and help arrives....wait!" he said as he spotted movement, in walked the Spetzants, perhaps five of them and they were unarmed and wounded, escorting them were hideous creatures that looked almost spiderlike, but with other features human and worse. "Damn! looks like we just got more reason to hit them hard." he pulled a pair of frag grenades, the others did like wise. "On my mark,,,,,MARK!" and with that, nearly two dozen grenades landed amongst the enemy gathered below. The resulting explosions and smoke and shrapnel threw the enemy into confusion. "Let them have it!" Vasily shouted, the controlled volley of las fire claiming more of the bewildered enemy, the Spetznats used this as a time to head back up the other tunnel. the first targets to be hit being the fiendish looking tunnel dwellers, then the soldiers.
The cultists would be last as they were less a threat militarily speaking. Most civvies barely understood weapons. "Time to give them the straight silver lads!" and with that, Vasily and the violators attacked with their swords in hand, his power weapon crackling as it cut through enemy limbs and bodies.
When Mikhail and the others arrived, they saw a swirling battle raging that Mikhail and his group had their power weapons out. "Well, what are we waiting for? we can't let Vasily have all of the fun!" Mikhail shouted.
"FOR THE EMPEROR!" bellowed Orlov. the platoon and Acolyte party charging to assist just as the other enemy arrived to reinforce their mates, but seeing a far larger force to deal with than anticipated.
Several minutes later, Mikhail's Chiurgeon and the platoon medics were busy patching their survivors up, the enemy lay dead at their feet. Vasily looked at the reinforcements, expecting Mikhail and the acolytes, with the beautiful Valentina cleaning her sword off. But he was surprised to see Orlov and Teona there. Again the giggling from the psyker. Vasily walked up to all of them. "Glad you made it for the party." he said.
"SO AM I!" a deep voice like stone on stone echoed in the chamber, at the altar, the blood and viscera of the sacrificed gathered into a seething mass and them widened, and a form took shape, a horrid form too horrible of most to contemplate, many of the troopers of the platoon needed a prayer at that moment.
The hideous form merely chuckled. "I SO LOVE A GOOD PARTY" it said. Mikhail opened a book and began to read from it. The Great filthy beast had finally formed into a hideous form bloated and full of lacerations dripping pus, and buboes pulsing with unclean material.
Ah, yes! Well, I can make sure to have Mikhail explain it for the audience as you are likely not alone with regards to gaps in fluff/knowledge. But trust me, it is not going to be pretty.
ups... seems shrike was exterminated... now the edjucated and well behaved people of this thread can talk abou my lil pony and other much needed stuff like tax income like it should have been from the start...tho he will be missed...:
