Going over the top. The camo has had a coat of dark sand and the webbing a coat of olive green. I'm going to try to avoid over painting the skin, although it may get a better highlight. Also added some slate and sand to the bases and given them a coat of a darker brown.

That's really cool. I think you'll get the results you are looking for pretty easily and definitely rip through that project.

Thanks SB, the first ten have had new kit issued, the rest need their bases finishing off . . .

I think for continuity the SGT should get a maroon beret.

Ok. I've been impressed w/ your modeling and your painting skills since i first came across your work, but this is over the top. The camo pattern you did on those BDU's is absolutely perfect from what I can see, everything else is just... well, awesome, and you did all that in 9 (or less) days?

Is that gauze mesh on the helmets? Madness!

You are a machine.

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/08/09 07:52:49

Post by: Ash 1

Thanks, they didn't take too long as I didn't have to re do any of the skin/hair/eyes; the webbing was just a couple of green washes over the old brown, letting the old highlights show through.

Wow i really like your vehicular mods. Specifically the scrap build details on all the units (and the battledmg looks very realistic).

My order from Anvil industry turned up, rather liking the casts, very little flash etc compared to some.

I got the Marine scale bionic arms, power armored legs (look fairly bionic from the back), some heads and also some IG scale bionic arms.

made these:

Ooh that Anvil stuff looks great! When can we see the guardsman bionics in use? I have not seen them in action yet!

The mud on your tank tracks is fantastic, how do you do that?

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/09/11 15:59:47

Post by: neil101

some great updates Ash.. the muddy tank and clean ad mek raider are excellent.. as is everything thing else as usual.. ;-)

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/09/12 09:40:17

Post by: Ash 1

The mud on these is all MIG pigments, straight out of the pot.
I think the Mech LR will get some mud at some stage, just finishing off these bits for Ammobunker IG then get back to those Marines . . .

Both radar variants together, just noticed one has no Imperial Eagle on the front . . .

WIP flatbeds, need some sort of tow bar/thing:

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/09/12 18:05:48

Post by: Commander Cain

Man those are a great idea! I take it they will be towed by Digit's transports right?

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/09/13 21:41:56

Post by: Ash 1

They should 'hook up' to anything . . . hopefully. I've made up a basic tow bar/thing and will post pics tomorrow.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Trailers are nearly done, ended up with a fairly basic tow bar. Can always be removed and replaced by something more elaborate.

Finished with these, didn't go OTT on the mud, just made them look a bit grubby . . .

Cool! Pallets are nice as well, must make some of them myself.

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/09/19 08:29:28

Post by: Ash 1

The pallets were made by Digits (creator of the BOAR and those rather cool track sections), I used them as a size template for the flatbeds.
He made them from balsa ( I just stained them with a thin wash), I must have a go at doing some as well.

Finally bought some thing from Pig Iron

Kolony rebel squad leaders; comes with some really neat basing detail cast into the sprue - what a genius idea
Also some Kolony rebel legs for my renegades. Rather pleased with this little purchase.

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/09/20 20:28:06

Decent haul. Pig Iron has some really cool stuff. I've see it around Dakka now and then, more recently than I had earlier. really like the different heads they make, have helped me a lot w/ my Cultists.

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/09/21 16:30:31

Stuck them together and slapped on some paint, decided to save the respirator heads they came with for some renegades. Had these rather nice resin heads that fit petty well.

Never seen many of the pigiron bodies in use, and they definatly look like some nice sculpts!

Post by: Ash 1

Me either, these guys I think are a new release.
I liked the torsos with all the MOLLE looking gear. Not yet sure what they'll get 'used as'. Two have what would pass for autoguns and the bloke in the middle a shotgun, so if I kit out the two autogun blokes with a chainsword apiece they could fit the 'bodyguard' slot in a HQ squad.

how are those chests scaled in comparison to guard chests?

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2012/10/01 20:46:54

They are a pretty good match scale wise, so would happily fit onto IG legs.

Looking a tad more 40k:

Bit of a test piece for making HESCO Bastion. I made up a load of single units, which is why it looks a bit ragged, next plan is to do strips of half a dozen segments at a time.

Not finished off anything IG for a while, been having a bit of a 20mm sabbatical.
These blokes have been taunting me from the depth of my box of half done things . . .

Pig Iron bods, legs, arms; Anvil heads; IG helmets & CC weapons.

more to follow.

Almost, they are the Kolony rebel squad leaders, torso body armour/molle kit and weapons look to be the same, so I'd guess they are totally compatible.

I am staggered. Those are the likely the best Renegade / Chaos IG I've ever seen. Considering how many threads I follow / have seen of this type of force that's a significant statement. I've always been impressed w/ the work you do and the techniques you use, and this is one of the best yet. Or maybe I'm just a softie for Freedom Fighters standing against Imperial tyranny.

Really looking forward to seeing more of your Chaos IG when you have them to share.

Cheers matie, unless I come across a bargain lot on eBay I will probably just be doing the one platoon. I do have one of those FW evil Ogryn types and a few zombies (need more zombies) plus a few vehicles.

@ Skalk Bloodaxe: Thanks very much, I've not done much with 40k of late as I've been somewhat sidetracked into 20mm & 28mm modern stuff (I've added a link in sig), but this thing needed finishing off.

@Nowlan: It's called Wireform, found it in a local Art shop.

Only two . . .

I've got one thread in the P&M blogs section, for any & all WIP projects, generally with a finished picture.
Then I have four threads in the showcase section for finished work. One for grunts, one for armour/vehicles, one for terrain pieces and a recent one for modern historical 20 & 28mm stuff. I suppose it could all have gone into one, but it would be impossible to find old stuff and trawling through would max out Photobucket account fairly quickly.

These have been languishing half done in a box, awaiting some TLC:

And for some weird reason, even though I thought I'd talked myself out of it, I started to redo the uniforms on all my old metal IG . . .

In an effort to shake off the effects of waning IG mojo, I picked up a fairly forlorn looking Chimera from that well known auction site.

Not yet decided what to do with it, but was thinking about a knocked out terrain piece. Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated . . .

I have managed to re start my IG uniforms repaint by splitting them into smaller squad groups:

and the rest:

I like the terrain piece idea. A popped turret and the Chimera askew w/ the right side burrowed / buried into a muddy bank.

Turn the old Chimera into a Hydra?

All things Imperial with the odd bit of Chaos thrown in! @ 2013/04/11 21:19:25

Post by: Ash 1

@ Commander Cain: Yes, the dreaded repaint, not too bad on the tank, the 80+ IG grunts in need of a new uniform, at the same time, may have been a step too far . . .
@ happygolucky: Thanks a lot.
@ JB: I do have a Hydra turret, on a terrain piece . . . I might have a look at that, thanks for the idea.
@ Smitty: I finished that some time ago, just had a rummage for the pics and they are in the Finished terrain thread (see sig). I might as well post them here as well:

Thats quite the resurrection. The machine spirits will be pleased.

I like the improvised armor plates. It works well and looks very much like a field modifiaction done by the crew.

The whip antennas, stowage, and modified smoke launchers really add to it as well.
Loving it, can't wait to see it with paint.
