Thanks Alpharius, you have been with me on this blog since the beginning and I shall honor the boarding blood angel sergeant I am painting atm with your name (the real one)
The armor on Mortarion was fairly easy - bascoated with bleached bone with a couple of heavy washes of Gryphonne Sepia and Ogryn Flesh mix - then layered with a 50-50 mix of bleached bone and space wolf grey - adding skull white with every layer - with a finish of pure skull white.

I REALY love the pic of the Blood angels coming out of the gate at ground shot with te "sun" behind them. You can totaly feel that there is a moment of glory in the making! I also love the model between Sanguinus and the guy with the chair, is that all pre-heresy or alot of conversions?

A few pointers, A) His skin is Obsidian Black, not brown! B) His amour should have lots of fire and Drakes. C) On his right shoulder he has a massive Drake Skull D) He should have all of He'stan's special equipment, plus the Engine Of Doom, Song of Entropy, The Obsidian Chariot, and the Unbound Flame. E) Lastly, he should have a Hammer.

I play Salamanders.
Honestly, you're right, information is sketchy.
So shouldn't that make this your easiest one?
You don't seem to have a problem with artistic license, and as a Salamanders player, I'm sure not going to be offended if you go nuts.
Vulkan is obviously based on the Roman version of the Greek god Hephaestus. Themes include fire, the forge and accompanying artifice, dragons, and volcanoes. I agree with the above post that his skin should be black and his eyes red. The original color scheme wasn't green, by the way. If you check on Lexicanum, or just Google it, you can find their original color scheme, which was a kind of red with a scaled pattern.
Any way you want to do it, I just want to see him! You're a true artist, and I think that what is most important is seeing your vision of what Vulkan looked like.
Rock on brother.

True, although, current fluff has his armour as green.

Wait... what?
When was the Salamander's armor anything but a variation of green?
I thought the Pre-Heresy color was just a darker green than what we have now.
Red?
I've never heard that before...

The original Salamanders colour scheme was black and yellow back in 1988 but after that its always been green.

While I like the model in and of itself, I do not like it as a depiction of Vulkan. It does not have enough Sallies on it for one, and it doesn't have a Drake skull on the shoulderpad, which is one of the few things to be confirmed about how Vulkan looks.

The regiment will be of the same expeditionary Force and as far as fluff goes they are a terran regiment within which is found elements of Light, Line and Heavy Infanty. The common ties most miniatures will have are the colours brown and black. They also carry a standard given to them in honour of assisting the White Scars on a campaign. I'm thinking of starting a new blog with the imperial guard and the various characters I'm filling the regiment with. Pics soon

As an ex-Royal Navy Officer, I have to admit the Grand Harbour of Valletta is my favourite port on Earth. We were always treated like Royalty when we arrived and the local ladies were beautiful and very "Accommodating". I was even on the Ship (Mighty Sausage - HMS Cumberland) that shamefully killed "Oliver Reid" when he was filming Gladiator, after that they got t-shirts that said "We Drank Oliver Reid six feet under the table" (Blackest of Black humour). I could see myself living out my days quite happily there. Okay, before I become all misty eyed, I have to say your Knight Titan is the best and probably the most to scale I have seen.

I think the Royal Navy should move from Gibraltar to Malta. We are much closer to the Maltese People, we have a deep bond and also a very clear link. To many in Britain Malta is a by word for Endurance. I really wish I had gone in on HMS ILLUSTRIOUS because it is considered the #1 Port visit, 2nd is Fleet Week in NYC which is just amazing. I forgot about the TEMPLAR connection on Malta as well, which to us Wargaming types is pretty significant and very interesting. I have been wanting to do one of these for a while.http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/429654.page

I think the Maltese people would be glad to have the Roval Navy here. The bond we have with the UK is an old and strong one. As for the knight titan, did you ever get to build one ? Sometimes the odd one pops up on ebay for some ridiculous price

Nice work!
Quick question:
The Perturabo miniature from Hell Dorado, Augustinus Raimond, how much larger is he than a 40k mini?
Could I use him in an Inquistitorial 40k army, without him standing enormously tall compared to, say, a terminator?
If possible, could you take a picture for me to compare him with a GW 40k model?
Also, what did you exactly do, while converting him? (backpack, cape from...?)
If someone could answer those questions, that would be awesome.

It was quite a simple conversion really, a fw bolter, fw raven guard thunder hammer, chaos terminator lord cloak, space marine backpack and some searchlight from my bits box and a tiny bit of green stuff to close the gaps. I got it from a seller on ebay but im sure you will find it in online shops around.

Well I can answer that one since I ordered the Agustus Raimond mini after I saw it used in the pic above, the casting itself is fine its a full metal fig with little to no mold lines, the cape shown above looks similar to the one included but seems to have some green stuff added to look bigger.

Thanks friends for the kind words - I plan on getting a nice group shot soon - as soon as I finish my new version of Corax. Since this project is virtually complete and so is my Pre Heresy Blood Angels army (one still adds a squad here and there) I am finishing up my warriors of chaos army. Another project I started some months ago was my Necromunda gangs - I painted quite a lot and should document it soon and add pictures. Although I'd love to make a themed Star wars or Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms themed army

Love to come to Malta someday to fight over that Imperial Palace, and everything else for that matter. Your collection looks HUGE. You probably are the Maltese Warmaster by a long shot. Love your skills and devotion to 40k. Honored to see your work.

How I managed to miss this thread is beyond me... Great work here, and good thing you posted me that link over at the FB HH group
That imperial palace is looking especially fine.

Mortarion is my favorite. You have really undertaken an amazing project. The Emperor's palace on Terra may be the most epic undertaking I've seen. I just thought it was worth noting I didn't think Russ looked like Gary Busey. He did, however, totally look like Ron Perlman. Cheers.

Thanks guys, Astroman - both busy and perlman have a less than attractive face probably why he looks like either ahaha As for the FW primarchs I'm quite happy with Angron - I've already painted him and just started a Pre Heresy World Eater Army - Don't know if I should continue with this thread to show em or start a new one tbh
