Hi guys, I wanted to write some info on this blog - I've been a painter and collector for about 17 years. During this years I built and played with armies of Dark Angels, Imperial Guard, Daemonhunters, Iron Hands and also Empire, Bretonnians and Chaos. I was always fascinated by the periods of 40K lore described as the Horus Heresy and the Great Crusade so about a year ago after a 3 year hiatus due to work/travel I decided to start an a Great Crusade/Heresy Army of Blood Angels. I already had a huge bitzwardrobe (as bitzbox is too puny a term) and set off aquiring parts from various manufacturers and from ebay to give my army the Heresy look it needed. As I started modelling and painting my 1st squads I realised that a Heresy Blood Angels Army with Sanguinius would give it so much more character and I painted a Winged Knight model of Sanguinius that I had bought years prior off Ebay. Soon after I was painting blood angels again and decided to try make a character model between squads so that I break off the monotony of painting red. Soon after that I acquired a Dorn and an Angron Model and decided to start a full Primarch Collection and The Emperor plus some other major characters of the era. Needless to say the Horus Heresy novels and audiobooks are a great source of inspiration aswell as the collected visions and the Index astartes articles.

Thanks Joey - Perturabo should be done in a couple of weeks actually and as for the daemon primarchs nothing yet planned - I am almost finished with my pre heresy blood angels army and considering a traitor legion to fight them atm.

Those are pretty awesome! I really like Dorn. But shouldn't Magnus be a little...redder? He was always described as being copper-skinned.

TheGreyJedi - I tried to keep with a more human feel to Magnus' skin plus in A Thousand Sons it says quite often that Magnus' appearance seems to vary a lot based on his mood/viewers pov.

I recognized the sculpts, at least some of them, and wasn't sure that they have an model.

Alpharious and omegon look like every single other alpha legion. Its alpha legion they all look alike. Also wasn't magnus a cyclops or was he only born with one eye?

He had one eye, he lost his 2nd making a deal to "save" his chapter with a Daemon.

Also, models look good... but Sanguinius (as with the entire blood angel chapter) is blonde. That's my only real gripe.

Thanks for the comments mate ! But Sanguinius has been described as dark haired in the novels - the artwork on the collected visions depict him as blonde but the artwork is mostly non canon.

+1 on the great paint job and yes the model makers, i believe a company called ronin, did get sued by GW. Cant find the models in stores anymore but can generally get them on ebay for 50-100 bucks depending on the day. Painted versions of this level would go for much more then that.

Wow, as an Imperial Fist player the Rogal Dorn automatically catches my attention. He looks real good. I saw a kit for him on the net and was blown away by it, looks very similiar was it a kit or is it pure custom? Either way it looks phenomenal.

Good to hear it. I think the fluff of the Emperor and the Primarchs are what got me into 40k in the first place... that and my old army buddies... armies.

@Templeorks - it's a Scribor SF helmet !

Those all look fantastic. I have to ask though, as someone who is in progress on a PH Iron Warriors, what did you use for your Perturabo? Some of the pieces look familiar, but they could very well not be what I think they are.

@Derek - Perturabo is based on Augustinius Raimond of Hell Dorado with some GW parts - hope that answers your question mate !

i think everyone is being really nice to you and I feel that these models suck, they are unrealistic, badly painted and don't get me started on the modelling.

Obviously I am talking absolute nonsense as these are truly awesome. Keep up the good work, absolutely love them. You have done them in a really weird order though, not sure what the right order is but very random. I would say which ones I am looking forward to but thats just all of them

These go 100$ and more on ebay (per piece) :/ Way to much and I honestly don't like all of the models.

Only Perturabo is a conversion lukewild1982 - the rest are from Ebay and other private sellers whilst the emperor from Scribor.

Hi Alpharius, for Corax I do have one yes and I expect it to be done in the coming months - As for the Twins I'm still toying with ideas but likely it's gonna be a converted True Scale marine or two on the same base with an adequate paint job.

Are these not scaled properly? Angron looks twice the size of all the others. And I thought, according to heresy books, Magnus was the biggest. I thought I read Magnus was even taller, as tall as, the emperor?


Oh, and regardless of how big the models appear, GREAT job! Can't wait to see you do them all!

I have to say my favorite has to be between Perturabo and Angron, my two favorite Primarchs!

Yes SickSix - According to fluff Magnus was really big even amongst other primarchs, but his size changed according to one's perspective aswell as the emperor - who can't be given an exact size (some say he is just human sized other artwork doesn't etc) so I like the artistic liberty offered by the primarchs - Thanks for the comments !!!

Cheers mate - Upper body is a Khorne blood slaughterer and most of the lower body, head and chainsword was sculpted by a guy I know, Apharius and Omegon are already modelled and will come on one base - Omegon as the stealth squad leader in black armour and Alpharius in Alpha Legion livery - Corax is a bit more tricky ...

Yes indeed the heavy bolter made its appearance and its a very pissed off looking corax

Does that Titan have bits on it from MechWarrior the Dark Ages on it? I am almost certain it does. I know I moded my Auto-cannon objective marker with an arm from one. Which you can find in the gallery.

No fluff nazis will kill you mate Malcador is described as frail old man in simple grey robes, with a white beard and the only flashy item he appears to wear is his staff which is his staff of office as the Regent Of Terra - reference various HH novels - so I tried to depict him as he is decribed

I woudl go for Alpharius and Corax, mainly because i have seen loads of pics of the others, while Alpharius + Corax seems to be pretty rare.

Sorry, here's the pic. Are the arms to this Titan machine savaged from MechWarrior the Dark Ages? Byt the way all the stuff just looks amazinf. I have ot say this most recent with the man alone with his chair in the palace is so understated that it stands out amongst the rest of the 40k material.

My mother once knocked over my Saint Celestine with Wings and the halo and wings broke off,I was heart broken.


But she is fixed now,and my mother will be back from her penence crusade in a few more years. :-P

Something like that breaks my heart box. Reminds me of how my Sanguinors' wings keep breaking off. Which is apparently very EXTREMELY easy to do. I've done it at least three times.

Ok so Mk8 chestpiece - mk 6 legs, scribor custodian head, blood angel winged shoulderpad, spear made from metal grey knight nemesis halberd + boltgun, back back with banner from classic space marine commander, other parts and details found from space marine command squad sprues. As I said it's a fairly easy conversion with no GS needed

Thanks Syninster_Intent - it's nice to hear these words, Dear Alpharius I work in an online casino and hours are irregular at best I did manage to get more work done on Corax yesterday at 4 am and I got some more work done on another Pre heresy Blood Angels assault squad in mk3 - I almost have 80 marines finished now and still don't know why I keep adding more stuff pics should follow this wkend after I drown in some vodka...

These are excellent but I'm most ipressed by Malcador's arm chair probably because it's something so rare to see. I also like the idea of the inbuilt entertainment system and drinks dispensor hidden in it!

All of this is very good. The only thing is, on your group photo Magnus is slightly smaller than some of the others, he should be much bigger.

I know very few people in the hobby in Malta mate, its a tiny rock in the mediterranean with 400,000 people in it and I know no Simons in the hobby yet. I do organise some games at home though and have a huge board that's gonna represent the siege of terra (for any people on the island that wanna organise a game just drop a pm you don't need to bring minis)

Thanks guys ! - Malta is a nice place to vacation especially in summer - Nice beaches, full of clubs, relatively cheap alcohol and a nice mix of Mediterranean ladies that had too much to drink Of course it has its historic value aswell with some of the oldest Neolithic temples in the world and some nice medieval fortifications but enough of that here is an update that you all deserve - excuse my phone pics (they are temporary till I get my gf to snap some decent shots)

Cheers guys, yes it's Yeld wings - I thought they still look cool after all these years and love their mechanical style - As for the other Primarchs in line I have Leman Russ which is 90% done Konrad Curse is on the painting bench at the moment - June will see me finish another couple if time permits including The Great Betrayer Horus Lupercal As for Guilliman I choose to have him wear an Iron Armour Helm for a bit of change - I think it suits his style - but thats just my opinion thanks for looking and for the comments my friends!

He they all look really amazing love alpharius and omega. Not a huge fan of corax not a very fluffy model as he was supposed to have talons/claws and i think guilliman is too plain for a primarch with a ego as well known as his. But overall brilliant painting and work. Look forward to more.

Gulliman looks the best. Actually most accuarate to how the Primarchs should have looked.

Not too keen on Russ.Maybe its the face im not sure but the lion looks class especially the cloak.

Awesome updates, definitely takes a lot of talent and dedication to make the progress you have on this project.

Corax used a variety of weapons, and the latest background does indeed have him using a heavy bolter, a 'power whip' and a power shocking similar to that of The Shadow!

I'm not sure where you're getting Guilliman = Huge Ego from either.

And, even though the Dark Angles aren't one of my favorites, your version of the Lion is spectacular!

Thanks for the comments guys - to answer a few questions to get the idea for some of the equipment used by the primarchs I use sources like The Collected Visions and The Horus Heresy novel series - If any of you guys wanna get a pretty good idea of why Corax looks the way he does listen to Raven's Flight - not only is it an amazing audiobook but it also sheds some light on the Raven Guard Primarch. Another point I cant stress enough is that these guys have access to virtually any weapon they wanna use - they are the fountainheads of the legiones astartes so no one is gonna say to Rouboute Guilliman "Lord you cannot use a power fist since it doesn't look cool enough" Talking about Guilliman - I wanted to depict him wearing an Iron Armour helmet simply because I love it. If you look closer you might notice that a copy of Imperium Secundus or the Codex Astartes is bound to his thigh armour and the scribe is there to take points on his Office 40K pad Not all primarchs have to be ostentatious we already have Fulgrim and Sanguinius for that This collection has up to now cost me an eye in the head but I'm quite proud of it even though some sculpts arent the best ever - (I dislike the face of Russ also) I hope I can finish off the collection by the end of Summer(work permitting) and also my Pre Heresy Blood Angels Army which is growing into a company and a half size at the minute - I use these primarchs as a break from painting red mainly - that rules out pre heresy Thousand Sons for me then

There was also another company called "Ronin Miniatures" that did these. That's is where a lot of the eBay sourced ones would have come from.

Yep - IIRC Ronin became Kabuki miniatures - My Sanguinius is Ronin and Fulgrim is Kabuki.

The Lion looks great thats actually what I seen in my head when I read the books so good job.

So friends after a long day at the office and some well deserved drinks and watching The Hangover Part 2 I found the time to take some pics of my games room. The project started years ago when planning out my house layout I had an entire floor to myself. This boys area was divided into an office/library another spare bedroom for any future kiddies (or abducted aliens) a kitchen for the BBQ area, a room with pc and a sofabed where I set up my paint-desk and a larger room which I could set up as my gaming room. Since I wasn't gaming much I bought a snooker table but soon moved it to the garage when the gaming spirit rekindled. In the games room I set up 4 6'X4' tables which can be connected and enough space under them to store terrain(or so I thought). Terrain that I accumulated over the years ended up as a permanent display on most of the tables as I had run out of space on most of the shelving. Here's a couple of pics of the Siege of Terra board which still in the making. Enjoy !!!

BTW - it wasn't a good idea to cover 2 walls with vehicle camo-netting as God knows how many times i got awkwardly stuck to it and it seems insects love it :(

At the time I'm taking a primarch break as I'm toying with the idea of building a pre heresy guard army which will look very exotic (and cause massive damage to my disposable income) I might probably repaint some minis as I have over 300 painted Imperial guardsmen from one regiment or another.

This is great stuff. Personally, I'm looking forward to Loken and Vulkan myself. Are some of the more ancillary characters going to be modeled? I would love to see Lucius or Euphrates Keeler.

I love the artistic license you've taken. I know some people like to be all "that's not the way it is! Rogue Trader #2172 paragraph 8, line 3 says that his hair is supposed to be shoulder length and you clearly have it going past his shoulders! Aarrgh!". But I for one love these models. It's nice to see them A) dynamically represented, and B) larger than the average Space Marine but still on a legitimate scale.

I think the Emperor you've done is, hands down, the best Emperor I've seen. Ever.

Perturabo is still my fave. But i'm biased.
