Yep. You can't have a successful CoX party without at least 1 Bubbler.

Yes, I understand Pandas or "pandaren" go back far in wow lore, but... does that make me have to like it?

THo, im pretty excited about the new mechanincs and such that is being brought it, like pve scenerios.

It is not WoW lore. It is actually a Joke Race from Warcraft 3 which was an Easter Egg.

Oh and, maybe I shouldn't say anything but I see WoW as being Blizzard's cash cow. Basically they are looking to make as much money as they can, for as long as they can, which of course they can use to invest in and improve other projects.

You can if you have enough debuffers. But most people want to play damage dealers, and that's where the bubblers come in-- making them survivable.

Course, tanks don't have that problem so much, but evenstill-- a bubbled up tank is nearly indestructible.

Makes me wonder why they had so many problems with the previous end-game material where they had to go after recluse and his minions. Villains had it much tougher fighting the Freedom Phalanx, as we had no such dedicated support class back then-- corrupters sure, but they were offense first, support second...

I really have to say I find this kind of post odd, I mean, I get it if someone doesn't like WoW, everyone is entitiled to their opinion, I can't stand Half Life, or most modern setting FPS, the fact they sell by the bucketload means little to me, its not something I'm into so why should it matter.

However how anyone can say something is not lore of a product they have zero say in, other than chosing whether to pick up the box at a shop counter and install it on their PC or drop in the console tray, is beyond me. It's Blizzards lore, it totally up to them what they do with it. You can hate on it, you can say its the worst thing they have ever done, its a stupid idea and I'll never play the game again (or at all) because of it, but you can't say its not lore.

As soon as they choose to put it in, its lore, like it or not. Interestingly this came up at Blizzcon, and Chris Metzen said that whole easter egg happened because a guy at Blizzard (one of the early artists, can't remember his name) has a massive thing for panda's and kept drawing them in Warcraft themed styles. It's something they had been looking at for a long time, before the easter egg, and since then, and the positive reaction they got from a lot of fans, its something that had been on the back of their minds. Hell Chen's keg has been in WoW since day one, and Chris reckons they where considering Pandaren for TBC, before they felt it wasn't going to work with a little zone stapled onto the main continent, so switched in the Draenei.

Now you can believe that or not, I must admit, I have doubts, seems like a little bit of PR spiell to paper over the cracks, but regardless, but I have no idea if that is accurate or not, I can't say that it isn't and have to take it at face value. If thats what the main Lore guy in WoW says, then like it or not, its a fact.

However as Ghostcrawler said to an irrate fan at one of the Q&A's they aren't going to put in a joke race and base an expansion around it, this is something they have been working on for a long time, and something they are all happy to see in the game.

It's sort of like people arguing with the fluff of army books (see necrons) when a new one comes in. Sure, nothing wrong with "I preferred the old, it was better" but saying "this new stuff is wrong, it contradicts the old and invalidates it!" isn't. It has replaced the old, the old no longer matters.

The fluff changes, and what GW decides goes, goes. The makers can retcon, cut and paste, hack and slash whatever they want and it will be the lore/fluff, as it's theirs to do.

Aye, totally agree. Hell I've more than once said something on these lines in the GW based threads of the same type as well.

It's their lore, they make the call. In fact I'll hold my hand up, I hate, I mean hate with a passion that the Orks are Veggies. I loved the idea in my head that Orks where just brutal warlike creatures, that bred really fast. Always liked the idea of mean Ork females Guard would run screaming from, but sadly, GW went another way.

Their call, I don't like it, but I have to admit its lore.

I suppose its another case of making the game pg-13.

Orks aren't PG-13. They're beer-drinking, pot-smoking, bloodthirsty lunatics whom often slaughter innocent civilians in the heat of passion and don't even regret doing it.

I see the occasional cigar smoking Ork, but i don't ever recall seeing or reading any stories of an Ork smoking a phatty.

Their smokes are made from fungus. It's probably far, far stronger than a cig.

Violence and beer is pg-13, sex is not.

I'm amazed the dark eldar are still in the game to be honest

Look at any film or game rating, you can kill hundreds of people and get a 12 but if you make love to anyone it instantly becomes an 18.

Wish I could have killed hundreds of people when I was 12
(and had sex at 18...wait).

Watch any Disney movie

Pinocchio and Dumbo had scenes of getting drunk, Alice in Wonderland had a pot smoking caterpillar.

Violence and drinking beer is something you can watch on evening TV, not even late night TV.

MEANWHILE, AT BLIZZARD HEADQUARTERS:
"Sir! We might lose a major chunk of subscribers when SWToR comes out!"

"Why?"

"It's being made by Bioware, it is going to places that aren't common for a MMO, it has a interactive story, and they revamped the combat system to be new & refreshing yet apply-able to WoW vets! What do we do to stop this threat to our cash cow?"

*pause*

"..."

"Pandas."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think WoW started going down hill years 'go, but that's me. I say it is SWToR's turn to take the MMO Throne!

*Que incomprehensible nerd rage*

I'd never buy one of them, but I have seen quite a lot of interest by folks playing WoW in the sale. Obviously if you no longer or have never played WoW, they would be of no interest to you.

However for some folks who have put four or more years into the game, then there is some strong interest in owning a piece of 'your' home realm from what I am seeing.

Also in the rush to take a shot at Blizzard you also missed the fact they are being sold for Charity, St Judes Childrens Hospital.

All the US ones are now up btw, and they are all selling. The highest going for $300ish so far with five days to go. Will be interested in seeing how high they might go.

I played in their beta and from day 1 launch until about 2 months after cata was released and I don't see the purpose or the sentimental appeal at all *shrugs* maybe i'm just weird lol.

If blizzard wanted to donate, they could take 1% from their subscribers for one month and donate that... $15.99 monthly sub, 11 mil subscribers = $0.16, resulting in a one time donation of $1.76 million which is far more than they'd ever get for selling these parts... but I digress

Anyone defending Actiblizzard for putting Pandaren in the game as a new race, is simply blinded by their fandom of the game.

I'm sorry, but Pandaren in WoW are equivalent to Tribbles in Star Trek (I think that's what those are called).

Its a simple marketing ploy to expand the game in China (if they even needed to anymore, jeeze), and a lack of other options.

Seriously, what other options are there? I can't think of any, though I haven't been involved in Warcraft for years outside of DotA.

People loved Pandaren for years, its not something Blizzard created to be forced on player to get expansion in China.
Infact tons of players were dissapointed to receive Worgen as the updated playable race, especially since it contradict the story.

Other Option.... MURLOC very yes

They loved it AS A JOKE. I remember quite clearly.

They were funny because nobody took them seriously.

But now, a whole expansion dedicated to them? WoW started declining immediately after WOTLK and allowing Arthas to be killed by 10 random schmucks, and the joke race that is the Pandarens will only speed this process.

Worgen as playable doesn't contradict the story. Dranei being really just as powerful as Kil'Jaeden (they are the same race) who came to Azeroth on their super space ship contradicts the story.

What the new races should have been:

Alliance - Consortium
Horde - Ogres

My opinion anyway... I've always loved the Consortium and wished I could play as them

This actually looks really good. Cataclysm has been by favorite so far, but I'm liking the look of the new areas and the theme's it's going for. Who cares if the Pandaren were just an easter-egg to start with? It's clear even from the limited previews we've had so far that Blizzard have taken what was just a small joke in an earlier game, and spent time and effort into making it a decent addition to the game.

Anyone who says they were running out of ideas obviously hasn't heard of Outland or ever been to the end of WotLK. Even I could come up with a bunch of new ideas from that.

How is that equivalent at all? Tribbles were in like 3 episodes out of almost 800 and were introduced for a single comic relief episode in a series that didn't even get popular till after cancellation.

Drawing that comparison is obvious nerd-baiting.

There is always a lot of hate and anger when a new expansion for WoW comes out. For me WoW is a nice way to entertain myself on those days I have a random video game itch. For me the changes from when the game started are great as it's more casual. Hence I'll enjoy the new expansion to at my leasure. If it's not your thing then move onto the next thing that is. Less anger, more knowing what you want and going out and finding it.

Amen to that Hulksmash.

People need to get a new past time. Rather than WoW bashing or hating anything that gets brought up on the internet, paint your armies so I don't have to play against half glued together or primed if I'm lucky models.
