Hey Maus, been lurking for a while and gotta say that I love your stuff! Really great ideas. My favorite models have to be the Bounty Hunter and 47! Your terrain has progressed very nicely since the first posts! Keep up the great work man! One thing that I use on my terrain (one of these days I'll get around to posting pics of it) is to wash them down with diluted Asphaltum by Americana it is alot like Devlin Mud but alot cheaper from Micheals. Try it out if you are looking for a good dingy look to your stuff. Works well.

I assume Michaels is a DIY? I'll look for something likewise here.
Anyone have a good color suggestion concerning the sofa?

IT should be a really obnoxious sofa like a dingy orange with yellow stripes or something hideous to that effect thats my two cents on the matter.

Sorry for the confusion Maus. I just was thinking of where I buy most of my paints. Over here Micheal's is a chain of craft stores. Don't know what you guys have for an equivalent.
On the sofa front I think a really tacky floral pattern would work too.

I know those will be awesome when finished, but right now they look like crackers.
53783
Post by: MauS
Lolz @ Skalk... crackers... they'll look awesome when done for sure... Its the sofa i'm still not sure of. I was thinking a fallout-ish beige and olive stripes, but it would show too clearly that the cussions are all of different sizes...

Go for a solid color (like a classic blue plush color), it'll hide the irregularities

gotta agree...for now your furniture looks indeed tasty after some lick of paint this will be some awesome details for any piece of terrain...

Another detail piece you can do is an old coffee can full of cigarette butts on the railing of the trailer porch.
53783

Another good plan Rustbucket... I love new ideas, so keep em comin!
To all a late but great X-Mas and newyears by the way...

Post by: rustbucket
These sort of ideas come pretty easy to me since I have lived most of my life in the rural South of North Carolina. I don't consider myself to be a redneck by any means but when you see it every day and work with many who are you get to know the lifestyle pretty damn well!! Pretty much nailed it with the Confederate flag over the railing. More ideas would be things like caps/ shirts with John Deere logos, Natural Light beer cans, Dale Ernheart NASCAR #3 on anything and trucks with raised suspensions, Keep it all coming!

Hey people! Another small update here, some color on the sofa, and a wasteland wanderer called Jack of the Rippers...
Take a look, and then let me have it
All comments welcome... specially suggestions and positive criticism

I like his pose, very reminiscent of a traveller, with his belongings in a sack on his spear.
Not too fond of the ripper though.

Lonely travler with some cool conversions all over, love the crossbow great use of grenade luncher and crossbow reminds me of the crossbow from that really bad Van Helsing Film
The bag hanging from the spear is a great idea gives that wonderer feel to him, the only down side is the shoulder pad looks a little on the heavy side (think it is one the wizards collars )
Overall great job
53783
Post by: MauS
@Ghosty: Thank you, I love the sack a lot myself too... it just somehow happened while i as fiddling with some leftover greenstuff. My GF thought it was anoying and poked at it with a cocktail stick. That gave me the idea.
The ripper is one of three that will be clustered besides him. Its not nearly done, all i did so far was cut it in half to make it look like its burrowing. The other two will be in various stages of exiting the ground too. And they'll likely have collars, maybe even a leash.
@ LDD: Thanx! I'll take another look at the shoulder, see if i can make it a tad smaller. ( The Van helsing with whatshisnamewolverine? It kinda does yes... i see it now... and as such must change it... hrm...)
You guys think the sofa color is okay, or too dark maybe?

No the colour is fine a dirty sofa what colour are they any way what do you need to change I hope you don't mean the crossbow the film was crap the crossbow rocked

Post by: Viktor von Domm
hey maus!
nasty peice of work there with that sofa
in fact seeing such pieces i always assume it to be of rich and dark red... faded due to long overuse to orange in places... but i gues that´s just me...
the lonesome travles looks really mean...using that wizard head was a cool thing to do... the crossbow with mag... i see the helsing referrence too, but for a more modern type of mini i would get rid of the bowstring... like it was propelled by energy...just like chewies crossbow...
but a truly nice compsition...and actually i like the ripper... has a touch of that old movie my enemy mine...

suggestion- find something that will look like tiny buttons to fill in the upholstery holes in your couch. Nice job so far w/ paint but (sorry ) still looks like saltine crackers to me.

I like the look for the sofa. Buttons will definitely help. Are you planning on making another sofa? You have got me wanting to make one and this is what I am going to run with but if you like the idea please feel free to use it too. Leave one of the seat cushions off, make it look like the bottom is torn, and use a spring from a pen/ mech pencil to look like a spring is poking through.

Great wanderer, MauS! Not too sure about the rippers, but I understand that he's a WiP. Are they exotic pets that accompany him around? That pose is very characterful, and I really like the greenstuff work. The weapon mod is ace too!
I'm a little on the fence about the sofas right now, but they do look good. The shanty town was a work of beauty, however, and I'm sure you'll sway me with a pic of one in amongst your other scenery
Keep up the awesome work!
53783
Post by: MauS
Thanx guys...
The rippers will be exotic pets yes, and companions in combat (there will be some loose bases with the critters as well...
I'm thinking of adding some fur to them to make them less 'tyranid' and more say... critters...
Sofa amongst scenery pics will follow this weekend. Got a game and will be taking pics.

... is that axe head made out of foam rubber? It's HUGE. Even a Daemon Prince might have a tough time hauling that boat anchor around. Don't get me wrong, it looks awesome, but wow... you're kind of pushing the SoD for Heroic Scale there.
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
i like that bugger... tho... one thing puzzles me... he is blind... and he is a leader... er...??? whut?... and nice collection of cutoff´s and bitz! specially the double axeblades... very nice idea... or is he not blind at all and you will make this bandage around his eyes like some sort of mask? that´d be brilliant^^
28415
Post by: lone dirty dog
Its heroic scale anything is plausible
53783
Post by: MauS
@ LDD You win the honour of being the one that knew... All hail LDD... the one that knew :crowd cheers:
@Skalk: No foam rubber here nope... I figure he's a hero... I've seen simple 20th century movie heros carry bigger stuff around, so I figured a powered ax would be fully possible. Besides... if it can be powered to kill even better, it can probaby also be powered to weigh less or something... Note to self, add powerpack.
@ Vik: he is a Hero, not a Leader by the way. I look at him as someone who inspires other survivors to bring the fight to the undead. I kind of took the idea of Zatoichi or Ruger Hauer's Blind fury. A not that big, not that tough blind guy wielding a twin battle-ax of lightning doom... I'd follow him... from a distance
Thank you for the comments guys, appreciate it. Specially Skalks and Vik's, they forced me to think about the stuff i made mainly because i liked the look. And behold, things can and will be explained Whahahaha. Thats always good !
Maus
Edit:
@ Vik: Argh! Cursed thee be! I have now seen the 'eye mask idea' and to the nine hells with thee, for I can now no longer UNsee it... Argh... eyemask it is then... where's my green stuff and my dremel...

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA lol... i knew it would be a cool idea... actually seeing that head i couldkick myself in the rear for not ordering the last time such a head for my own needs when i had the chance... actually i think i will expand on more heros after i finish my captain whatsnot hero...!

Great pose on the autocannon guy. Maybe it looks like his right foot ought to be on something, like a can, to make his toes curl up like that. Will you drill out the gun barrel? That's a good habit to get in to and really looks a lot better.
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
lol... i was rather curious as to why MY sofa has succesfully travelled all the way to the netherlands... but now i understand^^ lol...
the red...correction... faded red looks very good! the shots inside the house reminds me of old times... when i used to play jagged alliance 2... those were the days! when you went into houses you had these walled apart looks of rooms too... so thanks for that lil piece of memories! how do you make this furniture by the way? the table looks as if it is from a set... i detected by the way some mold lines on the tables feet...(sorry dude^^) but if you´ve sculpted all the sofas and chairs from putty... respect! that must´ve been quite a big amount to make all this! but it sure was worth it!
as for the gunner... lovley arangement of bits! a truly maus conversion to the detail! specially i love the "dangling" feet look... just one minor nitpick here too...the bum of said gunner is hoovering a bit in the air... suggestion: raise the amo box a bit and you´re set! oh...and for the sake of all of us... drill the barrel out!
cheers, vik
53783
Post by: MauS
Barrel will be drilled!
Vik, the sofas are DAS clay... dries in the air, costs and weighs little... perfect for stuff like sofas.
That mold line... hrm... The table is indeed from one set or other of some kind of doll house play set... i cut most of the legs off to make it the correct height.
The autocannon gunner is at the moment still separate from the gun. With greenstuff he'll eventually be on a cushion he put atop the ammo box
Thanx for the heads up on the moldlines and the barrel guys

Post by: M0rdain
Got to have a cussion on an ammo box. An essential
53783
Post by: MauS
@ Mordain: Yep, a bare necessity. A cushion is the bare minimum Lazy Bob needs. Some other demands he made were his own Thermos and coffeecup, and a bong...
I can make him a cushion, I can make him a bong, no problem... but I think he's pushing it with the coffee...

The open hand i like too... It will stay. But i'm not at all sure on the zombie hand i'm using now. It looks... i don't know... just off...
I'm looking through my bits for hands now, but so far haven't found any that says 'come get me if you dare' as much as the zombie hand does.
@ Vik: I contemplated some fire or smoke from his hand but decided against it. My hero is actually just a nutcase in a superhero costume carrying a humongous poweraxe and hunting zombies... Hero perhaps, but not a mage, wyrd or psyker.
@ Skalk: I tried the buttons, but they just looked too big. I think the rest of the furniture ties it down a bit too. Now to make a dozen or so more, some fridges, freezers, sinks, toilets.... pff... too much...
@ Dave: Thanx, coming from you thats a big compliment. I'v started copying your tags by the way. Did you design a tag for yourself too? Cuz if so i'd like to steal that for on my shanty walls too

Hey guys, here's my pics for the hero contest. AXionMan is done!
He's been a thorn in my side for a while, been thinking about doing some OSL, but in the end I think the purple axe color doesn't allow decent OSL on his purple clothing without it all looking off... So decided I'm done with him. Now back to the dumptruck for the vehicle contest, and afterwards i can finally get back to my zombies, shanties, survivors, furniture and mold-making (soon more about that moldmaking, but think civilian torsos amongst others)
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
i did mention that you wrecked truck is as sweet as a wrecked ...er...car? well i did on the other thread...
and i did mention that i need to use more brighter colors on my next mini i make...well i did on that even other thread...
good looking AXionman... the axe is truly lovley looking... OSL is not the solution to everything!!! only one small problem i have... this guy could have done with a cape... ragged and with lots of torn holes in it... that would have added that sorry ex-super hero look which i take as a vibve from him...
or he looks like those long lost wrestlers of our youth we loved... very well done... i am not winning that hero comp in any way...darn...

At the moment working on my Truck for the vehicle competition... just a few days left, and I need to give Dave a run for his money.
After that its on to sculpting and then molding some civilian torsos... So far I'm thinking one with shirt and neck-tie, one with open shirt, a t-shirt/longsleeve torso, a hoodie... I'm open for suggestions on any non-military torso ideas...
In the meantime i'm convertion some necropocalypse Beast-men gangers, and some Skaven gangers, and I still have a gazillion zombies to build.
In short, nothing much planned, so if you have a nice idea for me to tackle, or need something sculpted or such, just let me know...
And by all means Vik... don't post Rick Ashley...
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
ok... i wont do the last thing you mentioned... it is hereby forgotten, erased and deleted from my mind deal?
and you mold? or rather sculpt?
color me intrigued...
as for suggestions on civilian torsos... what about
and
also... nurses and nuns... who doesn´t love these
and if you do beastmen and skaven gangers... you know deep down inside your soul that you have to do lizardmen too
oh and i cross my fingers for your truck... i wanna see dave on his toes at least^^
53783
Post by: MauS
True, i have to do lizardmen too... But... I have none here, so they'll be on the to-do list. Coveralls and Haz-Mat suits are a definate plan!
Concerning the other question: Aye, I sculpt... I sculpt, and then mold the sculpts. Had meself a nice molding workshop last week, and I must say my first molded torso (standard catachan, just to try) came out fine
Thanx for the ideas and advice Vik. Good to see that some people still visit my blog...

I visit! I just don't have anything useful to contribute
Neon Leon (AKA AxionMan) looks great though!
I don't think I'll win the vehicle comp because Bruticus isn't into Fallout. I only wanted to win to do the "what can you build with 1 necromunda bulkhead" contest idea
53783
Post by: MauS
@ Dave: Knowing you, with one bulkhead you'd be able to build an entire space hulk, so if ever that contest comes up i'm not joining!
I'm guessing Bruticus is more into the ruined warhammer vehicles indeed, and as he was showing examples I saw a couple of nice yellow trucks and loaders come by... so i might have a chance yet. But honestly, if it comes to pure awesome-sauce, your fallout stuff tops all.
@ Vik: Darn you and your coverall idea! Now I need to sculpt legs and arms too! Thanx for that, love it truely. Keep them ideas comin!
Oh yeah before I forget...

and maus... we´ll have to do some serious talking about your self made products then... if i/you come up with something cool... i want to get my paws on that as well
and i am atm starting to scratch my head for new ideas... damn those danfrafts

Yeah, got some time on my hands now yeah, so i'm making some sofas and stuff to send to galorn for molding.
As for the translation... well... according to google translator its called groin rupture. Liesbreuk in dutch. Its when the stomach wall in the groin area tears, and yer intestines try to tickle yer prostate and stuff... Nasty, but fixed with an hour's surgery. Recovery time takes longer because well... its a delicate area... so no walking around and stuff... So here i am, on the couch, with all my stuff two floors up... So in a day or so i'll make the trip up there.
Thanx for all the kind words guys... and nope, indeed no sex for a while...

get better soon... and a BJ is probably not helpful... even if some man out there calls it no sex... some parts on your parts still move and this might cause other regions to move too... and i am sure these then aren´t ment to move atm...
again... get better... and be careful on that journey upstairs

Post by: MauS
@ Vik, I think with kids, if that would ever happen to me, i'd probably have to be admitted to a mental home. Azrael was my favourite Rat, i breed the little critters and this one was just by far the most tame one I ever had. She went everywhere with me, bar, shop, work, everything. She was perfectly trained too, reacted to her name, brought things to me upon request, even rode my dogs when i walked them.
I try to cope now by giving the other eight rats a lot of love, because with the surgery my dogs have to stay clear from me. Pitbulls do have a tendency of being a bit overenthousiast, which would ruin my groin. My gf takes care of them both for now.
Some people call me stupid for loving animals this much, but I don't care. Men are allowed to cry i say, even when losing pets. I dread the day I ever lose someone close. I have difficulty enough coping right now, let alone using a person....

With two contests running I couldn't resist building one piece to combine the two. Brian's 'built-on-a-cd' contest, and the League Gun emplacement contest can easily be combined, if you are me
Here's some prelimenary pics now i finally found my charger, camera, and all the supplies for my modelbuilding again. The idea is to build a gun emplacement, on a cd, hidden in a heap of garbage. The beginning is here, now its on to adding more and more garbage, junk, bags, sacks and discarded stuff. Garbage bags will be built created after everything else, as they cannot and should not be primed... Here's the pics, please leave comments...
The obligatory cd, in this case a copy of the Best of Bon Jovi. An ideal cd to screw up...
Surplus model stuff, the other requirement in Brian's contest. The garbage bags will also be filled with excess junk.
What is a gun emplacement without a gun? Twin linked heavy bolter with either laser targeting, or maybe just a flashlight...
The beginnings of a hidden emplacement. Not yet hidden, but it will eventually be covered in a mountain of garbage.
Leave comments please

Welcome Back Man. looking very promising indeed.

Some progress report on my tale of two contests adventure. It actually become just 1 contest, because after my brilliant plan everybody decided to mix the contests of Brian and the League, resulting in Brian deciding that entries that were not unique would get minussus on score. So i dropped out of that contest, specially since i had gotten permission first. Not that it mattered, because it now means the base of my gun emplacement will be bigger, and will contain lots more debris... Anyways, just some progress to show, not nearly done. Feel free to comment after looking at the pictures:
And to keep in spirit of the original plan i had, some progress on a second contest, the bad ass contest:
The bike is meant to be the ride for my bad ass biker (chick) probably... Its from a kinder surprise egg... All the other stuff is all for the gun emplacement contest. I'm keeping the gun for last
Shoot guys, lemme know what i should improve

Post by: Viktor von Domm
improve???
where, how?
i see so much win... your shed looks so lovley... so much detail... and you have an eye for scale i have to say... those junk bags... awesome!!!what did you use to fill these up? what size would that be?
the bike looks quite good... i am a bit uneasy currently on the paintjob as it feels a bit uneven...brushstrokes and so on... but very akira like!

Post by: lone dirty dog
Nice job has an east Asia feel to it, you know those shacks they build over there.
Once again the rubbish bags are just the dogs you know whats never get tired of seeing them also like the pallets and boxes nice scratch builds
As for the bike needs a new paint job as Vik mentioned, looks a little scratchy unless thats the look you're going for.
You got a picture of a mini next to it ? I never get anything like that in my kinder eggs I always get crappy craft things
53783
Post by: MauS
The4 bike is not at all as it should be, its just to show what exactly it looks like. It will have a nice flashy glossy paintjob.
The bags are just plain garbage bags, cut to a size of about a cm across and 5 high.
Folded, filled with a tissue, and tied down with a garden wire it looks the part.
The pallets are stolen from on-site here, don't know who i saw do it, but they work! The boxes are cardstock and math... I did that at school once, and for a reason lolz...
As for the kinder eggs... the secret is to buy one every time ya go shopping. After twenty or so bugs bunnies you will eventually get something usefull... A coming project will be three racing cars i have from those eggs, which next to a 22mm model look like a scale car to them. So a model with a remote, the cars filled with dynamite, and presto, missile launcher proxy
Thanx a lot for the feedback guys, its appreciated.
I hope I will do the bike justice. Now to finish the paintjob on the shed. It will recieve at least 4 dirt washes.
Also, did ya guys notice the paper below the model? Tiny newspaper pages? They will also be scattered all about.
28415
Post by: lone dirty dog
Dam missed the paper they look ace where did you find the link for them ? I have some 40K posters and some papers Galorn sent me but those look pretty cool.
As for buying a kinder egg each time I go have you seen the price of those dam things they aint cheap and having a draw full of monkeys, rabbits, dinosaurs along with spiny kaleidoscope things I could not cope with LOL
53783
Post by: MauS
LDD... concerning the paper:
Google newspaper ( add another term like zombie for more specific newspapers)
Save the image
Open word
Load up the image
Adjust size
Presto
Works for posters and such too:

Moar progress, playing with her pose, settled on this sort-of getting on her bike gunning pose finally... required a lot of cutting up stuff, and a fair amount of green stuff so far.
She will be blonde...
The base is Rivitzone by the way, excellent bases made by local god Galorn...

Looks very badass already...but what kinda gun will she wield?
53783
Post by: MauS
Thats the million dollar question Vik... I have no idea yet. I've tried different gun ideas already, but the Dark Eldar arms look really flimsy when holding a lasgun or bolter type weapon. So i'm open to ideas on the weaponry...
Anyone got a mac-10 laying around?
Asian... hrm... Darn you boys and your ideas...
Asian is a very good option really...
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
Seriously I think I have... Got it from zinge... But I think specialy the mac 10 is a gun you could scratchbuild most easily...from sprue even... Hmmm if you pm me your add I could rummage in my buzz box for frailer guns...
53783
Post by: MauS
PM sent... And darn you, after checking out some asian biker chicks it is decided...
Black leather, Asian looks... She'll be awesome. It unfortunately does mean the bike will not have racing sponsors and such, just some fancy racing stripes/visuals
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
You should add a green strand of hair or blue to that braid... These tokio ridge chicks just cant decide on one color
28415
Post by: lone dirty dog
She so needs one of zinges SMG pistols or the Machine pistol, either of those would work and rock
Braid orange to tie in the bike theme and totally black leather
53783
Post by: MauS
Subtle markings/vinyls...
Now to wait till the decals dry and then a couple more layers of gloss, a polish, and then its on to weathering and chipping. Not too much though, i like the idea of a well maintained bike, even though the world is run by zombie gangers...
What ya guys think? Enough vinyls, too much, too little?
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
Looks perfect in my humble opinion
Are those orky decals converted? Tho I am not too fond of these imp decals in that context .tau or eldar would have been the better choice. If you need some I have plenty of both
28415
Post by: lone dirty dog
I like the shiny look shouts care and attention in an Apocalyptic world, although I am also a little lost as to the Imperial Emblems ?
Looking forward to the riders paint job, how you going to achieve the leather finish ?
Gloss paint, satin varnish or Gloss varnish ? or some way unknown to mortals ?
53783
Post by: MauS
The imperial markings are sort of like brand markings, indicating that the bike is imperial built. I kept them small so they don't draw too much attention but still break up the red. Maybe tau might have looked better, but the bike is human built after all...
Besides, they are really hardly visible with the naked eye.
As for the rider... well, still not decided on a color scheme. It'll probably be a dark color, maybe indeed black leather. Vallejo black and gloss varnish should work.
The ork decal has been converted indeed, if converting is the correct name. I cut a set of teeth in half, and took one half on each side of the bike. I'm thinking maybe a Scorpion green pinstripe around it, but not sure yet.
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
That's what I've meant, the green could look quite dashing...
I asked about the aquilla to know how your own game/fluff world is to be associated to mainstream 40k world..
I was always assuming you had come up with a universe of your own device and you use just the buzz for helping achieving your vision...but I guess I am projectingy own views here
53783
Post by: MauS
I do indeed use the buzz, and mostly my own vision, but the core rules I use are necromunda, but altered lots. In honour of the basic set that started me, i still adhere a bit to Imperial fluff...

Some more progress... Almost done with her, the base needs finishing, and the face needs a lot more work. I still need to drill the barrel, and paint and attach her indiana jones whip. Gun is courtesy of Vik Von Doom, the most excellent base is Rivitzone, by Galorn. Many thanx again for both, they suit her perfectly! I decided finally NOT to do black hair, as the entire model became much too dark that way, and grimdark is something I try to avoid in my models, wether they are GW or not...

One got 2 things I can say anything about. It's awfully clean rubbish, and the sheets of paper could do with being scrunched up a little. I suspect you are going to rectify these before I said anything. It is a brilliant piece of scenery and such brilliant use of materials.

Thanx guys, now stop making me blush... I myself was pretty sure Ashotninja's EDF command squad would steal first place for sure. I just love his work, its so clean and detailed.
Got myself a construction crane today at a shop called Action. It was just two bucks, standing at nearly 60 cm in height. I have still to unpack it, but i'm sure i can make something of it... More on that later, for now i'm building myself more garbage

48594
Post by: dsteingass
That looks about like what I saw too! The girders themselves are amazing bitz to play with!
53783
Post by: MauS
Its a bit too big in scale, looks about 1/35 or maybe even 1/28... the cockpit itself coould hold a model fully standing, but is supposed to be a seat. It can easily be reworked, its just two screws to open. Built a new cockpit, adjust some details and you have a huge crane.
Looks like a good deal for just two bucks...
48594
Post by: dsteingass
40k vehicles are closer to 1/35 scale really. You can't buy plastruct girders for $2.
53783
Post by: MauS
Exactly... I think its a good deal, so if its the same thing over there (cant find a brand name on it anywhere) go buy it! twice, or more! Work some steingass magic on it!
66563
Post by: rustbucket
That's an awesome find for $2! I had two of them that I had found at a thrift store and my wife and mother in law decided to clean out my hobby area for me when I was in the Marines.... They obviously weren't in their right minds... anyway, there is a construction playset at Toys R Us for around $40 with one but I'm not diggin' the price.
53783
Post by: MauS
Thats way too pricy indeed Rustbucket... Thrift shops, dollar stores, or in my case euro-shops or Action usually have interesting stuff, especially with the economy in ruins and the holidays coming up. So if, like me, you have a steady income, its nice to be able to profit from a ruined economy. Then again, the economy everywhere is picking up except in holland i believe... We have the wrong government for growth, the guys here still think we need to cut down on everything. But in this cxase, today, it helps lol...

Fortunately for me, I do have a pretty good job working for John Deere. The downside is that I'm a contract engineer so no feelings of job security! But the money is good. Not having to stretch the dollars like we used to have to do in our family for a while is a great thing! Also, I don't have to hide my hobby purchases anymore which is nice What blew me out of the water the other day was with our govt's hell care system (Obama Care) - my wife looked up what our monthly premium would be for 4 out of 5 of us and and the cost was 3x the amount I used to pay! Around $550/ mo. And that was with the govt assistance!!! Crazy.

we have a playmobil crane at home...we´ll probably sell it on ebay... its even motorised...my kids never would allow me to use it...but i often had thought about such a project...
for 2€ maus this is a steal...really...the amount of plastic even is exceeding that price by far...wow...

Tell the kids that it's going towards the Viktorian War Effort... they'll understand

i doubt it dave... usually they are very helpful and providing... but as they currently use this crane as a sort of makeshift elevator.... no chance^^... beside i would have serious pangs of guilt hacking up playmobil...
cheap ones like maus has...that would be no problem at all tho

Agreed... the crane is a beast compared to models and even my three story buildings... I might just get a few more just to hack up. This one i'll try to build into a decent crane. I measured the cabin a bit, and a gi-joe action figure would be about the right size for the seat. A bit big, so i'll certainly have to either close it all up, or rebuild the cockpit.
Unfortunately when i tried to separate the pieces i discover these (probably chinese or taiwanese) screws immediately get all screwed up. I'll have to break her open...

i used to do the same with my playmobil camper. It soon became an armoured car. never thought of using my train though... nice one Vik.

That was a strange out of scale licensed HO train set produced in the early 80s, this guy used the Playmo trains to build one to scale

Post by: Viktor von Domm
And there I thought playmobil was smaller in scale than gi Joe... Looks really neat...I used to have a playmo trainset in my childhood...

Post by: dsteingass
Well, they are a bit smaller, but the vehicles and playsets are designed for little hands to easily fit figures inside, leaving plenty of room for GI Joe helmets and gear and what-not.
I just happened to have my Code Name: Bazooka figure and a Playmobil musket here handy...

oh.... the only GI Joe stuff i ever had in my hands ...well in my memeory...foggy as it is ... i recall them to be bigger... but with that pic... no point in argueing over facts proven by pic
and...ach... i loved those guns...i had them all for my pirates vs redcoats battles

I think you mean the action man sized gi joes Vik... They are indeed very different, but also called GI Joe...

Action Man/Action Force was the UK license. 12" came first 1960s-1970s, then there was a brief failure of 8" figures during the oil crisis in the late 70s, until the 3 3/4" line came out in the early 80s to compete with Kenner's T-crotch Star Wars line.

well... not much action figures in my yuth i came across... of course i had the odd kenner star wars mini... but my mum was dead against all that so called nonsense...argh...
p.s....(whispers) my kids get the two lego jabbas palace kits for christmas...don´t tell them^^

Heya guys!
First of all I need to apologize for vanishing off the face of the earth for over a year. Life dealt me some lemons, and I needed much time to create lemonade. Too much time.
Hobbywise last year was a disaster, personal-wise it started out the same. Yet since a couple of months life is back on track, and slowly the hobby is getting back on track too...
The past year has not been a total loss though, there were the occasional models I built and painted, and my biggest achievement as yet is in the works... Yet that will take about six more months to be finished/born
Anyways, like I said, it wasn't a total loss, so I do have some works in progress to show. As always, feel free to comment, critique or otherwise nag me... I'm just glad to be back in earnest...
Aye... tis good to be painting and converting/sculpting/scratching again...

Nag, nag, nag...
Er...so you finally sculpted yourself a minime with your magic wand...?
The models look great, the braid on that "pirate" is sculpted? Brilliant!
That sniper tho is my favourite, he reminds me of Riddick, if he was a sniper and not a close combatant...
Welcome back Mr. Maus

Thanx Vik... I was kinda expecting you to be the first to react
Nope, I didn't use the magic wand... It turned out to have little magic So I used the magic hospital. We are now in week 14, and the missus is beginning to actually feel pregnant now. Morning sickness and all.
The braid is sculpted yep, but needs a better paintjob to make it come out more.
Concerning the 'sniper'... I'm glad ya mentioned Riddick, as now i know you mean the guy with the goggles. The head and weapon are Kromlech and Maxmini, he has little in the way of actually sculpting. I just loved the M4-203 and just had to use it... I kinda like him too, so he'll be getting friends.

oh... that sounds nevertheless a very joyous development! and mind you... I've heard so much about complications in that regard... seems humanity is working hard on it´s own extinction... a teacher of mine once told me that all these hormones get rinsed into the water system due to the extensive use of the pill... so we men more and more pay a price...
well...I wish you two all the luck, nerves and joy of the world for this biggest of adventures!!! you need tow out of the three for sure... believe me...I know what I am talking...
and I guess Riddick came to my mind due to the shape of the head and the goggles give him an extra intensive stare^^...
one thing about wolvie... while I like the model...the skaven hands are a bit on the large side...
and I like that you made a human skinned/ pink ork...had that idea for quite some time too...

I give you Mr. Wolf, Mr. Fear-no-plasma, and Mr. Drillbit ... All in various stages of progress. I take particular pride in Fear-no-plasma. After all, everybody knows the herioc marine pose, shielding himself from a possible blast. Why, I ask, with such great armour, would one shield oneself? Now, if you are a mere average joe, that makes it different...
As always c&c is welcome...

I have seen on the very rare occasion for less but on the whole £1 per bulkhead aint bad these days so I would say it is a good price.

is the arm on Mr. Drillbit scratchbuilt? or is it a cybork arm?

@ Gawdamsumbish: The arm is from a firm called Maxmini...

GawdamSumbish, you might try Kromlech, perhaps they still do...
@ LDD, sleepless nights sound like hobby time to me... After all, when they turn a month old or so they can hold a brush... so he/she had better get paintin

very comicesque , cool work, did you use pawns from a chess game? I like the subtle dark lines...
the assassin is made from what mini?
also... due to your most recent update I totally forgot to coment on mister wolf... awesome mini...who made that? looks so professional...or did you sculpt that head yourself???

Viktor, being a german can I safely assume that you know the Efteling amusement park in holland? They have a fairytale forest which has Little Red Riding Hood, and The wolf and the seven goats... That mr. Wolf was featured in a miniature for a collectable series at a supermarket. This is that Mr. Wolf, only repainted and as such looking a bit more menacing.
i take the comicuesque as a great compliment. I try to have everything just a little bit overdone and over the top. I guess thats a bit my style. The dark lines you mention are just waterproof marker along the very edges. The assassin is a mini from one of them clix ranges, but with an added bolt pistol. There used to be a flimsy dagger there...

I've discovered Infinity. Got myself the 2-player starter box and started painting the nomads. Please comment, because for me this is a lot harder te see the details on than the GW '28' mm models...

Really great color scheme choice I think, the only thing that keeps me from infinity is the bright anime colors, but I really like the colors you chose. I did notice one thing though that on this 3rd guy you forgot his mustache and little soul patch!
