The Flgs I go to never makes a problem out of it, plus they have seen the progress of my army, and if someone doesn't see GW in it then I can explain it to them.

As for tourneys. The Dutch GT isn't organised by GW anymore. There is a new organisation which almost completely exists of the former dutch GW staff. they do roughly use GW guidelines for the GT though.

But I am considering making a print with W.I.P. of the whole project, while presenting this army to the judges during the GT, so that they and the rest of the entrees can see how I made this army .

But what about jetbikes! you need some clone troops on jetbikes!

No seriously. I have been thinking about it though. Because the Dutch GT point set wasnt sure if it was 1750 or 2000.
I had a 1750 list set for couple of months now, and if I needed 250 more points for the tourney I was going to add Speederbikes..

But the GT is going to be 1750, luckily

Maybe in the future if I pick this army up again I will add them.

Pretty simple body design, but it looks close enough like a super battle droid IMO.

This guy used the Eldar rules, so that makes sense in this case. Pretty good conversion nonetheless.

well since i dabble in steampunk stuff the eldar weapons were always dear to me... so i am a bit biased about them

Loving R2D2... Given that this is a Grey Knights army, maybe he could form part of an Inquisitor's retinue.

@flashman: Inquisitor retinues don't really exist anymore. They are Henchmen now ofcourse.
And I don't see R2 fighting amidst Clone troopers :p

Not 100% satisfied with it, but I think he looks good enough.
Going to add small bars between the upper and lower arms.

I like it. The torso and head is really good. Adding the bars to the arms will definitely help. It also needs a dial(?) on his chest. I think his feet are spread to wide. His stance needs to be more frigid. Other then that it's nearly there!

Maybe R2 could count as a jokero?

Yea the legs are definitely spread too wide, I'm not going to fix that anymore, it's glued and puttied .
About the dial, Ah heck, it's supposed to look a little 40k still, so it is fine like this, just the bars and then painting this fella!

About R2 1 more time :p I already have 6 minigunners as Jokaero. R2 is an objective marker and thats final!

Haha! I forgot about the mini gunners! Yeah, if c3 is in puttied in place then best to leave him. The head is very impressive. So the mission objective is reuniting two best friends and their robot bromance.

3PO is looking rather convincing... with the mentioned additions i think you have a winner...again^^... maybe get the pose a bit less dynamic... 3PO is the stuffest piece of SW ever since leia was thawed by han

R2 is great but I'm not sold out on C3 - the legs are to wide spread and that's breaking the original posture/movement pattern

The Dust Tactics Wildfire/Honey kit is basically a motorcycle with legs, is very close to the scout walker

Ehm no.. His eyes are black. And as you can see in your picture, his eyes are pretty big and shiny, and has reflection..
I just overdid the reflection a bit I might fix it a little so they look more black, and fotograph the dude in better light.


But.. All the infantry is done. (minus 3po, but that's a piece of a cake anyway) Which means there is 1 thing left to do..

Gloss varnish is a good tip, but I only prefer the painted effect over the ''real'' effect of the gloss.

I've always had a soft spot for Republic Gunships, right next to Halo Pelicans. You did a great job building it I can't wait to see it fully painted!

I must say though, when you said a few months back that you had a cunning secret plan for your Coteaz, I really, really, really wanted it to be Grievous in the pose he strikes at the end of the first series. But the arm-taser thing is pretty cool too

I get why you don't want to overspent time, effort and points, but still, I get why people want to see Obi-Wan leading a squad of Star Wars Shining Spears. And all the other shinies. But whatever your next project, if it's based on the original Clone Wars series, and has this level of skill involved, I might pee a little...

I was finishing my army for the Dutch GT and then you come along with this magnificent army! Thats it! iam packing up! Your painting makes my painting look like its done by a drunk monkey (well I was a little tipsy most of the times).

(little question: doesnt it bother you that you cannot field those stormravens first turn for them being flyers and all? you have to deploy sum units because you cannot put everything in reserves. nothing on the board means auto loose .)

@Shogun: About fielding my units. I have 10 Units in total, 3 are fliers, they don't count for reserve rules.
So that makes 7 units. I have played a couple of games now with this army, 4 units are in the fliers, The Jedi, Jokaero and the Vindicare start on the table. They held out every battle so far (night fighting helps alot)

But I am not completely sure I am doing this right, because 7 units, half is 3,5. Do I round that up to 4 units on the table, or down, 3 units start on the table as I do now??

We had a battle at the Dutch GT 2010. I played the red tyranids against your thousand sons.

Dunno about the reserves...spend more time painting then learning the new rules.. 8)

@Storag: Lame answer: Practice makes perfect . But my painting style is just getting a smooth coverage all-over the model + hardcore edgelining and freehands.
Some small quick tips: always make sure your paint is not too thick, never! For the highlights: that just take practice (and a steady hand helps too )

Had my battle today. Vs Droids, Ehm Necrons. Quite fitting though.

I promised you pictures.. But I didnt bring my camera.. Sorry for that, but we had the table with sucky lighting anyway + Imhotek was on the table, so I didnt see any light till turn 6 anayway . Still won though, because of the ARC troopers for getting the secondary objective ''Linebreaker''

Great job on the last gunship. I really like how your bright, clean paint jobs make the whole army look almost cartoony. As a huge fan of the old miniseries, this army particularly, the way its painted, brings out some good ol' star wars nostalgia.

Made small balls out of putty, puttied the blue lenses as well. Painted the rest of the deatails.

Hey guys!

It's been 2 weeks since the Dutch Grand Tournament. It was awesome as ususal.
Took my camera with me thinking I would really make some pictures this time, took 3 pictures in total . Because I found out a friend of mine there had a much better camera! I was hoping to get the pictures by now. But he hasn't uploaded them yet.. unfortunately.

When he gets them I will make a review of the tournament, and you will find out if I won the Best army on show or not!

It would be great to see some more troopers painted up though I can't believe you want to sell it.

I'm still hoping that you build some more vehicles like the sentinel-type sprinters and maybe even the giant six legged walker (the name escapes me...)

Ah, these are the things I'm looking for! Ofcourse I'm going to make a list of all the things that are in it.
It's a 1750 points Grey knight Acolyte army. This 1,800 pt Guard army, was it highly converted, painted, Forge World extensive? Or a combination of all of that? if you can recall the army ofcourse,
so that I can see what price range I should be aiming at.

I would start with something like 400-500 Euro and see how the bidding will go. Personally I think such an army worth over 1k Euro.
Keep in mind that eBay and PayPal take fees so that should be considered too.
Going eBay you will have to advertise your lot extensively to get enough attention and bids though.

I think I will try it on the Dakka Swap shop first, with paypal ofcourse. Will try ebay if Dakka won't bite.
I will make a summary of the army with pictures, points costs etc. tonight.

Maybe make an eBay listing... but also put the link for the listing in a swap shop thread.. you should be able to do that. kill 2 heldrakes with one lance shot so to speak.

^^ A wise plan. That's probably the best way to go about it. No idea how much you should charge for the army though as I don't know how many hours you put into building everything so just go with a price that seems right to you.

When you'll set it up I'll make sure russian community hears about it, don't know how much of a help it'll be though =|

As you can see, there are Troopers standing in the interieur of the Gunship, that's because the floors are magnetised and all models are weighted with nikkels in their bases, so they can stand firm without falling out of the ship.

Mate, whatever price you will put on the figures yourself, double it. This army is fantastic and I think it will attract some serious star wars fans just because it is unique.

In any case, I assume you have the power to hold out for a good deal. Trust me, people WILL pay for something like this.

Best advice I can give in addition to the above, sell it for the price you want and take no less. It is a great army and you should get the price you ask for.

If you figure out what you want, a buddy of mine is getting out of the army VERY soon and is an IG/Militarum Tempestus fan, so he's VERY interested in this.

Yeah just ask whatever you want for it. I reckon you could easily get $1500-2000 for something like this, maybe more if you found the right buyer. Us people still with GW have gotten used to high prices!

The letters in the swap shop stand for have and want, in your case it would be H: Clone army W: Moneys You might also want to limit it to the EU if you don't fancy shipping too far overseas.

Ive had people pay far more for models than I payed for them new simply because they were interesting or unique (even though I said they are paying too much, they kept bidding).

Im not saying rip people off, but this has lots of potential to get you some gain etc. The quality of the paint and assembly, along with the uniqueness AND consistent theme will go far in the second hand selling.

id start at 1-1500 USD with no buy now price (Make people bid until the auction ends) and see where it goes.

I love this army.

It's part of the reason I needed to put together on of the Revell gunship kits for Deadzone and infinity. (I'd say yours look better than even the proper kits)

If I had the cash that this army deserves I would buy it off you. As a thought it might be worth waiting till the new Star Wars films come out to sell it thou (not sure if it's would be the same but comics normally go for more when the film comes out)
