So, Joffrey Baratheon is bad ?

I am aware you are fence sitting just to annoy people so I shall keep this brief, but yes, even if you use mental gymnastics of the most impressive type, any living creature that delights in causing pain and suffering to other living creatures is definitely bad, no matter how objectively you try to approach the issue.

I was kidding, but he seemed more like an horrible spoiled brat, where at least half of what he is comes from an terrible upbringing, rather than just being evil. Some other characters from the setting are really, really way worse. Joffrey was very irritating and stupid, but would be the true monster of condensed pure evil with extra evilness on top of it. Would you not agree ? Anything that Joffrey did, that other character outmatched by a huge margin.

Huh. I commonly see the reverse to be true as well, though. People being more familiar with BL stuff than codex material, or just preferring BL content over codex stuff.

Although, as an aside, ignoring BL material is a valid position. As devs and BL writers have noted, 40K has a very loose canon, and it's acceptable for people to decide what they want to accept into their view of 40K. Not to say that BL is invalid or lesser or anything like that, though. They're fun reads, and provide some interesting perspectives of goings-on in 40K.

The problem with a loose canon is that neckbeards like us spend all our time arguing over who's view of canon is better.

At least with franchises with tighter canon this sort of thing doesn't happen. Other stuff happens instead, but still...

Yes, but, that's kind of the point. That's why 40K is written the way it is.

Just because Dan Abnett writes a 40K novel does not mean that I immediately accept everything he presents in it as gospel truth. Even though he's my favorite BL author, even I disagree with his interpretation of certain aspects of the setting.
