After everything I've read about shipping charges, it's almost never intentional, but it's even more frequently almost never accurate, either. Sometimes included in shipping charges are handling and picking fees, customs fees, VAT, taxes, and sometimes the creator can bypass costs that a customer could not. Shipping costs, unexpected fees, and other unexpected price increases happen, yet the creator, for obvious reasons, doesn't go back to the backers and say, "Hey, can we have more money for shipping?" I don't see what Reaper has to gain with intentionally deceiving customers, when the amount of money is, I think, much less than their "non-deceiving" income streams.
So, IMO, In the end, I think it's just better to find out how much backers in your area paid for shipping for last year's KS, as well as how well -- or poorly -- they estimated shipping during the campaign. Part of the reason why I didn't back CMON's GH KS was that CMON charges more for shipping than other KS to my area.
If you (that is, an international backer) do find a KS that you like and charges low shipping, by all means, back it. Particularly, these KS tend to be domestic, and backing domestic KS encourages domestic growth of the gaming hobby.

For Asia Pacific, instead of just shipping from China, which would have been the much cheaper option and one that CMON uses, they instead decided to ship all the way down to Australia and then mail it back up to Asia Pacific again. Cause somehow, to Reaper THAT IS BETTER. I mean, yeah if you're just charging customers for it sure -_-
Customers don't necessarily like having to pay for a more expensive option when other suppliers have a cheaper option on the table.

For Bones 2 (I didn't back Bones 1), it was shipped to us via air mail. For Bones 3, we were charged the same amount (plus inflation) to get our Bones shipped to us, and they were sent via sea mail. So you're right, they didn't outright state they were coming via air mail again, but that doesn't absolve the of the deceitful behaviour.

Going back to look at my pledge, I was charged 90+ USD for shipping for Bones 3, which went to Australia and then was shipped to me using Auspost. Meanwhile, I paid 50 bucks for my Massive Darkness pledge from CMON, which was 2x the size and more than 2x the weight but shipped from China directly using an expedited service. Guess I won't be backing bones 4 at this rate.

I can say much the same for my Bones and MD pledges, both of which came from Aetherworks via Auspost. As NTRabbit has said, the shipping charges for B3 were pretty much the same as for B2, which was sent directly from the US.
Let's face it though. We RoW backers aren't important enough for Reaper to much care. Their bread and butter is the US customer, and we're probably considered more trouble for less work. They'll still happily take our money of course, but expecting them to care on a personal or business-wide level about an unfavourable reaction to them making a nice saving for themselves isn;'t going to happen. Should they need to justify it to themselves, it'd no doubt be seen as a quid pro quo for the shipping on Bones 1 (whether you or I personally backed that campaign or not).

Wow yea I wouldn't be buying Bones at ROW rates.
I paid about $35 shipping for a modest pledge (about $130 worth of dragons and ogres) and it seemed on the high end at the time, it's average cost today. The UK shipping hub unexpectedly saved me $45 in customs fees tho, so I think EU worked out swell this time.

Missing pallete for the UK. Looks like part of the confusion happened because the contents were arranged in wave order, rather than by item. Bryan Stiltz 4 days ago Alright, posting this message using my personal account instead of the official one, because we are currently experiencing a bug that is preventing our main account form posting comments. (we are getting an error message that only backers can post comments). ************************ This is an update to a some of our European Zone backers who haven't received their rewards yet. A pallet of product shipped in our container to our UK Warehouse has gone missing after entry inspections. Not wanting to wait for the missing pallet to turn up, we’ve already shipped a pallet of replacement product out to our UK Warehouse. Unfortunately, a handful of orders are still waiting on this pallet to arrive at our warehouse in Nottingham UK. Once the pallet arrives, our UK team will be able to fill and ship these last remaining orders. We don't have a timeline as to when these last rewards will ship yet, as the pallet is in transit. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for this inconvenience. ******************** that's the official verbage they wanted me to use. I wanted to clarify that as supplies ran out, our UK facility became confused, because the packing list showed there was clearly enough materials. but sure enough, when he got to very nearly the end, there were about 400 units across 6 part numbers that were just not there. Our paperwork suggests that this was one of the 19 pallets we sent to them (the pallets were mixed, trying to organize things to resemble a rough "wave order" for ease of fulfilment there). This took us a few days to figure out exactly what happened, and why he was experiencing shortages. We're trying to track down the missing pallet. But we're not just sitting back and waiting and hoping to find it. We had a crew come in overnight to assemble a replacement pallet and we're expediting shipping of the missing materials. I want to assure everyone involved that we are working extra hours to resolve this as fast as we can. At this point it seems like if something can go wrong, it has, but we will do everything we can to make it right. Also, this might help AUS reduce KS shipping costs for KS projects in general: Clinton Macgowan Superbacker 2 days ago @Chris Earl - I don't hold much hope for a refund on shipping. I am usually a torch bearer in the mob that goes for exploitative shipping for Aussies but it's passed and paid. I more hope that they just improve their rates on Bones 4 if there are going to stay with container shipping. If not, I will be using a re-shipper called ShopMate which is run by AustPost. I have used it for Dwarven Forge who are even worse at ripping off Aussies and on the last KS, I saved over $100AU in shipping. And it was air-freighted.

I really doubt it. I'm not sure if anyone else remembers but they had a similar error back during zombicide s2 where they forgot to print the XP lvls for the character sheets. They 'resolved' that by releasing digital character sheets and telling everyone to go print it themselves. And very obviously, they're not going to ship everything over to QA it. It would be cheaper to just fly over and QA it
But in all honesty, this seems more like an issue of copy fail and no one noticing that the green didn't stand out. Automatically Appended Next Post: lord_blackfang wrote:Wow yea I wouldn't be buying Bones at ROW rates.

I didn't get that much. 2 graveyards, 1 tiamat, 1 stoneskull expansion and it came up to 90 bucks usd shipping. From China.
Also, frankly, disappointed with some of the models which are MUCH smaller than I expected from the art they used. 301 in stoneskull looks big, but it really isn't.
I am at the very least, fairly happy with graveyard expansion though

I don't mind the size of 301, but I do mind that it came fused with an integral base that wasn't in the concept art, which has kind of nixed my original plans for it, because it's not the sort of base you can remove or trim away like some other bones
And yes, I have a ShopMate I've never used, so I'll try that in future

Well here we are August 1, a day we've all been waiting for and finally the big announcement!
MOAR METAL!
Oh and something about a kickstarter but there's another thread for that.
Comouse and Rat Sonya are those rare figure I never knew I needed but once I saw them...
Geishrew and Moleja aren't quite as essential but maybe as gifts for Mrs Kyoto.
Beratzerker and Valkyrat are just the things round out anyone's Norodent collection.
And finally we have Sorcerhamster and ConjurIgiveuptryingtomakerodentrelatednames to finish off your Mouseling party.
At this stage I have to wonder why Reaper hasn't published or at least licenced a Mouse-themed RPG or Mini game. Seems like leaving money on the table.
Also on the list of "I never knew I needed that"
Dwarf jester berzerker. Dwarf. Jester. Berzerker. Three great tastes that... Wow. I could write a fantasy trilogy just on this figure.
Not sure who needs a female dwarf priestess or why, but if you do this is a nice one.

Finally two figures tagged as 'Day of the Dead' cavalier and duchess, and they're both fine middle-of-the-road fantasy figures suitable for PCs or NPCs. I can see myself getting the duchess easy.
It's good to know that even on today of all days, the eve of Bones 4 (or day of depending on your time zone) Reaper still squarely stands on the side of the one true casting medium... METAL!

Dwarf jester berserker . Was he just an unemployed dwarf who answered the opening for kings jester and was hired (only applicant). He then tried to make the king happy only to fail miserably and be ridiculed by everyone in the court. He snapped and began beating everyone with his puppets. Once his rage subsided he was all alone and began searching the worl for the best knock knock jokes.

What is wrong with that dwarf jester? Either that is a stunningly bad photo, or a terrible sculpt, far below Reaper's standards. Is he naked? Missing a foot? He looks blobby as all get out. Automatically Appended Next Post:
Pre-primed, not pre-painted. We actually use the second one for my wife's D&D character, as dual wielding female halfling rogues are impossible to find for some reason. They're much better than bones for human sized figures IMO.

You say that last part like is a good thing. I hate preprinted miniatures. Aside from the fact that I like to paint, most of them have paint jobs.
Thanks for the head up, though. I was hoping for something a little more sinister looking but that is a cool looking figure.

Ak! What with all the excitement what with Baba Yaga's hut and all that I almost missed these fine examples of the One True Casting Medium METAL
First off some middle of the road knights by Bobby Jackson. A bit on stocky/thick side but overall good looking figures.
Their leader is called a Justifier, "Yes, you're right we're commandeering all your crops, burning your fields and leaving you defenseless and starving, but you have to understand the goblins hoard is coming and we're acting proactively. If we didn't do this the goblins would come and steal your crops, loot your fields and you'd be just as bad off plus they would have more food for their army. So really we're doing this for your own good. Plus you now have more time to flee to the hills and no incentive to make some doomed effort at stopping the horde. So really you're making out ahead."
JUSTIFIED!
And speaking of the goblin horde, a shaman suitable for activities at night, or just your next march in Charlottesville.
I once had a character killed by Vegepygmies, to this day I can't eat salad.
Middle of the road sort of wizard, not sure if I'd paint him white or grey.
So there we go, I think most of these are coming in bones 4 in 2019 but if you want them now you can get them. Reaper's dedication to covering every monster in the Monster Manual (IPR be damned!) continues to impress me. I mean Vegepygmies? Seriously? Wow.

MORE METAL
And Reaper does not disappoint!
First off All Hallow's Eve, a hard working farmgirl ready to reap the wheat, drive off the crows, hang a lantern and sweep the porch!
Next we have Sethis, a useful casualty figure for your field hospital dioramas.
Then a poor accident victim who I assume is coming to comfort Sethis and show that with some physical therapy he will one day walk again.
While her friend shows that a long coat can conceal unslightly scars. But only if you remember to button it!
And the dapper physical therapist is there to have them all get down to work.
There's also Octavio, the Guard Who Couldn't See Too Good. I mean am I wrong? That vision slit only exposes the bridge of his nose!
And Barzillai, who, if I understand his armor correctly, is about to transform into a speed boat.
Yeah, OK, this is not a great lot. The monsters are servicable if you're looking for vampires and Frankensteins. Eve is very nice, but I'm not sure she's $12 worth of nice. And the two Pathfinders figures are just... odd. Maybe the make some sense in context.

"Reaper friends and family,
For the last 15 years, I have had an amazing home here at Reaper Miniatures. Reaper has given me so many opportunities, and they have meant so much to me. The community, both online and at conventions around the country, has been an amazing part of my life. It has been an honor to be considered a leader of this community, and to be a valued part of an organization I cherish so much. Reaper is my family, and you are all a valued part of that family.
And so, it is with both excitement and sadness that I announce that this is my last year at Reaper. At the end of December, I will be leaving Reaper Miniatures to pursue exciting opportunities elsewhere in the gaming and hobby industry.
I wish nothing but the best for my family at Reaper, and to all of my friends here and at conventions around the country.
Thank you,
Bryan Stiltz"

Because Reaper loves us (and I happened to be trolling their website when this was posted) , they are also doing a Mr. Bones Christmas Sampler.
Naughty? Nice? A bit of both? No matter. Starting tomorrow, December 1, every qualifying order placed at Reapermini.com will get a little Christmas surprise. Specifically, a Mr. Bones' Christmas Sampler - a stocking filled with Reaper goodies. If you've been nice, you'll find a festive surprise in your stocking. If you've been naughty, well, you'll just have to wait and see.
Any order over $65 (in your purchasing currency - USD, GBP, Euro, AUD) will get a Mr. Bones' Christmas Sampler added automatically. No need to do anything else. One Sampler per order, and we'll keep adding them to orders while supplies last.
So it seems that if you spend $65 in the right period, you should get free shipping, the 25th anniversary figure, the 12 days of Reaper figure, AND the stocking.
Unfortunately I just did a Halloween order! Trying to convince the wife that all the kid relatives need Bones for Christmas...

During our 12 Days of Reaper promotion, running December 6th through the 17th, you'll receive the FREE Miniature of the Day for each qualifying order of $40 (in your local currency - USD, GBP, Euro, AUD) or more placed right here on www.reapermini.com! And what's more, for each $40 you spend, you'll receive an additional copy of that Miniature of the Day - $80 for two, $120 for 3, etc. there's no need to place multiple orders on the same day! The FREE Miniature of the Day is automatically added to your cart...you don't have to to anything else.
So... for $80, you get two "25th Anniversary" figures, the Bones sampler, and two (of the same) "12 Days of Reaper" miniature. Any suggestions for which day to get? I'm thinking 12/16 for six total Santa's Helpers.

Well the days are getting shorter and colder and that can only mean one thing, the Warg Sköll is devouring the sun and the time of Ragnerok is upon us.
Or Christmas is coming.
One or the other.
Reaper has clearly chosen their side with the latest releases, all in God's own Casting Medium... METAL
How do we know that METAL is God's own casting medium? Glad you asked.
One of Reaper's more interesting aspects has been their willingness to dive into other areas that might broaden their appeal, from painted dinosaurs for museums to well... this.
This month sees the release of the third wise man for the nativity so for those of you who started your Reaper brand nativity scene in 2010 the time has come!
And needless to say all in METAL
Christmas (damnit! not some nebulous 'holidays' or 'the season' #$%^ing Christmas) is the theme this month with a proverbial French crapton of METAL Christmas minis.
A pack Reindeer
A Christmas Rogue, who I assume is stealing presents and roast beast Grinch style
Puns abound with Carol the Christmas Bard
The sorceress Christmas Eve...
And two Christmas Knights!
And three Santa Dwarves, I like how these 3 tell a story
Arriving at the family Christmas party
After some hard cider
And the end of the evening after someone brought up Trump.
Mrs Claus rounds things out.
Just the thing to go with that Reaper Santa you've been meaning to paint since 2010.
Yeah I know how it is.
And some standard Fantasy figures
Aurelio is a Bonehedge wizard, an important job, he and his ferret familiar trim your bone hedges so they don't get overgrown
While Vatanis Maggotcrown is a necromancer who, I assume, can grow your bone hedges. Though looking at him I'm not sure he actually has a maggot crown. Social climber.
A female pirate and I ain't gonna lie she goes right on the shopping list.
Finally a female Dusk Warden who I assume wards your dusk.
Looks like we're reaching the end of this thread, but I think we can look forward to a Reaper 2018 thread sometime next month!
Merry Christmas!

Weird I've now tried them on PC, Apple and Android with no problem.
Can people PM Legoburner and tell them what they used, that's usually how he troubleshoots.

How do you think Santa pays for all the HD TVs he gives away

I have the KS version and the grey mix is like a slightly softer GW plastic so those legs aren't even too bendy. What's also nice is the loot is a separate piece with a fully detailed hump underneath.

And look at that, actual news on the last week of the year!
We're pleased to announce a new line of metal fantasy miniatures coming in 2018 - Dungeon Dwellers! Dungeon Dwellers hearkens back to the old-school days of fantasy miniatures, but with a modern look. Dungeon Dwellers will feature both characters and monsters alike...and they'll fit into any dungeon you can find! And just like 2017's Silver Anniversary miniatures, you can get these Dungeon Dwellers each month for FREE! Our first Dungeon Dweller is Rictus the Undying!
Starting January 1st, 2018, you'll receive a free Dungeon Dwellers: Rictus the Undying for each qualifying order of $40 (in your purchasing currency - USD, GBP, Euro, AUD) or more placed right here on www.reapermini.com! And what's more, for each $40 you spend, you'll receive an additional Dungeon Dwellers: Rictus the Undying miniature - $80 for two, $120 for 3, etc. There's no need to place multiple orders on the same day! The FREE Dungeon Dwellers: Rictus the Undying miniature is automatically added to your cart when you hit $40...you don't have to to anything else. Or, if you prefer, you can just purchase him directly here.
Rictus the Undying was sculpted by Bob Ridolfi; the studio model was painted by Michael Proctor. Thanks to Bob and Michael for some great work!

Honestly I'm not sure what the new Dungeon Dwellers line does that their existing lines like Dark Heaven and Warlord don't already cover but hey, if it means MORE METAL I'm all for it.
Happy 2018 everyone!

It's more to have a theme for the monthly miniature obviously gets more orders for them direct without Kickstarter.

From the Reaper forum, it looks like they're a reference to a Heritage line of miniatures released by Reaper in the 1990's.
"So, these are brand new sculpts, not old figures that we're re-releasing. All new.
They're tabbed figures on slotted plastic bases.
They're "Heroic Scale", i.e. they're modern gaming scale.
Some of the designs are *loosely* based on some of the Heritage Dungeon Dweller miniatures.
Each mini is FREE for the first month, but unlike the 25th Anniversary promotion, these minis don't go away. They'll always be for sale.
One new figure a month. February's mini will be a fighter/knight/warrior type. March will probably be another monster, followed by a character in April, and so on.
Planning on having a special Dungeon Dweller mini or two released at ReaperCon this year. Oh, and just you WAIT until we make a big ReaperCon announcement next week!
Buglips: I don't think there will be a bearded devilish fellow in this incarnation of DD. However, you never know. But the more I see your hairy lips the less likely it will happen.

After much discussion and then total agreement, even from Duke, we (Arnold and myself) outlined a new fantasy line that would be aimed exclusively at the fantasy role player and not the traditional miniature wargamer. Since the line was targeted primarily at the D&D gamer, we wanted a line name that conveyed that message. I think, Arnold came up with the name Dungeon Dwellers as a play on D&D. There would be a range of stock numbers set aside for the characters and another range of numbers for the creatures. After researching the D&D game we followed the main character classes: magic user, cleric, fighter, thief, etc. Arnold and I also proposed a set of box sets that would supplement the basic D&D game. Each set of creatures would contain all the creatures for that level. I believe at that time the basic game covered the first three levels. What we did was build some logic into the line and came up with products that the customer could easily use and integrate into their game without a lot of hunting through hundreds of blister packs. Duke loved the idea and was able to sell assortments of boxed sets of characters and monsters to just about every hobby distributor in the US. Things were rolling for Heritage.
But all was not right in Mudville! The early 80’s was witness to another recession. The prime interest rate skyrocketed. I believe in 1981 the prime was closing on 20%. Under the Oden regime not only were the receivables sold to the bank but the inventory as well. Oden had funded his expansion and acquisitions by selling his receivables and inventory to the bank. Now the price had to be paid. Once a distributor/wholesaler defaulted on an invoice, which was starting to happen, the bank billed back the receivable to Heritage. With the true interest rate the bank was charging around a phenomenal 24% there was not enough profit being generated to cover it. So things got tight and any in coming cash was being taken away by the bank. Duke wasn’t getting the dollars he was promised by Stockman so he went a courtin’ and found a taker at Lake Geneva (TSR) There was some panic and some relief by a few nameless individuals. Without the Duke’s charm a few big deals feel through. But the company was making sales with a successful Dwarfstar line of boardgames and a solid selling Dungeon Dweller line. There were some other winners such as the Dungeon Floors but also some so-so sellers like Knights & Magic, Swordbearer and the flickering Paint n’ Play line. The latter was a Duke inspired line that had some production problems (the paint issue). Paint n’ Play was aimed at getting new comers into the hobby and was offered to JC Penny’s, Sears, and Toys R US as well as non-hobby distributors. Some of them did pick up the line.
In February of 1981 one of our vendors came into the factory with a default judgement on our new casting equipment. The bill had not been paid. The bank was not willing to advance any more money so the only recourse Stockman had was to file for bankruptcy under reorganization to hold the creditors back. Once that was done the bank seized the operation and after a bankruptcy hearing it was decided that the debts were too great and the company should be sold or auctioned off so the bank could recover what it could. The once mighty Heritage had fallen.
Plenty of info about the original series here. Hoo, boy, miniature sculpts have sure gotten better since then! : http://ddwzrd.com/

I finally had it with Stockman’s antics and I walked out. TSR (Gary Gygax) wanted me to come up to their rising star and help him make it big. I did and we did! I lost a lot of money in Heritage. All my lines and efforts went down the drain. What had been a going concern with Custom Cast/Der Kriegspielers and all the lines I had sculptured and built along with a major amount of trailblazing for a new industry was lost with NO return! I really don’t think Stockman knew what would happen when I left. In nine months they were out of business – as I expected they would be. They were unable to maintain the sales and contacts I had established…and the relationships with others in the industry.
