Alright, me and my friends got into a long discussion about games and the enemies we encounter in them.So we sat down and we each named our favourite foes and why we liked them. i chose the Flood. They're just so adaptable, and pretty scary.(try playing the level "The library" at 1 am on legendary) I also just appreciate how just one infection form can spell the end of an area and how they were able to push a species to a galactic scale apocalyptic suicide. So if you have a favourite enemy in a video game, tell me what it is and why you like 'em. Also, any video game adversary humour is welcome.
So tough only a missle launcher will harm them (at least in some of the games) and they can drain your health extremely fast, plus, all the evoluton forms are pretty cool.
The Iron Maiden off Resident Evil 4. *Shudders*
I remember my first time fighting one of them, You could blow off his arms and he would just regrow them. If he got closed you were Fethed as he would do this mad attack similar to an actual Iron Maiden, he would lift you off the floor and impale you on his spikes. Scary stuff!
I'll counter your Robotnik with Dr. Wiley. On topic though my vote goes to Alma from F.E.A.R. Not so much because of her character design but you'd about soil yourself with the stuff she brought with her or what she would do.
Ill pull the obscure card and say Giygas from Earthbound from the sheer freaky atmospherics of the whole fight.
Anyone who's ever played Earthbound knows exactly what I'm talking about.

You sir, are a connoisseur. My hat is off to you.
I can't decide between Sephiroth and Eggplant Wizard.
I'll say that white line that prevents you from scoring in PONG, now that's adaptability. No matter where I hit the white square, the other white line stops it, its like he's programmed to counter me or something.
Fallout 1-2 Deathclaws, cause your about to gak yourself when you find out it has about twice the amount of action points as you, by seeing it run across almost a full screen to tear you a new one, in one turn.
This series has been my favorite since I was 9 years of age. Maybe this is what helped me become who I am today, or watching silent hill since I was 4?
I'm going with Kefka as well. The old-school cutscenes FF6 had to work with do a nice job of showing you a villian who was just full-bore nuts, and that laugh...
The coke lord in GTA: Vice City was pretty damn memorable too. They captured Scarface so well with his series of missions and the end battle.
Probably my step-brother in SW battlefront 2, we both play as snipers and hunt for each other if it has to be a CPU generated enemy then:
Ace Combat 5 Unsung War: The 892nd Squadron in that survival mission over the mountains where you are supposed to fly to safety, I like to stay and have one hell of a dogfight
difficult question...
I'm torn between Dr. Nefarious from various Ratchet and Clank games, just because of his behaviour and wackiness.
or any enemy on Star Wars Battlefront 2, just because it's so fun to just walk arounnd blasting everyone in sight with a shotgun/sniper rifle/ pistol/ automatic rifle and ending up getting over 150 kills in a single training match
Id say the battle against Ject in FFX was mine. Not only did I really enjoy the build up to it, but holy damn that was a tough fight. It took me a couple tries to finally beat the guy. Then I got REALLY nervous because you just couldnt save after that fight, and then went right on to fighting sin(cin? dammit cant remember how they spelled it) but then laughed uncontrollably when I threw a phoenix down at him and he died instantly

Now THAT was an awesome game, I logged way to many hours on. Seriously, its a new console age, they need to make another one like right now

Pandemic Studios was developing Battlefront III, and it had normal melee, without a lightsaber, as well as battles where you could start off on the ground, hop in a ship and then fly up into space to attack capital ships.
Emperor Doviculus from Brutal Legend. Anyone who is willing to rip someones heart out and stick it right next to their own is a total badass.
The Hive Mind from Dead Space. Yeah sure, it was an easy fight, but it sure got me pumped up and shaking while I was fighting him.
Alma/Facemuncher (Fettel) from F.E.A.R. series.
Andrew Ryan, because of the curveball twist that accompanies him.

but they went bust :(
That sucks. But I want to know WTF is the HOLD UP?! Dont they realize that Battlefront anything = a boat load of cash? I mean starwars has few really good games (oddly enough) but the ones that are good are GOOD. And Battlefront is easily one of the best ones. Man sometimes I wonder what the hell some of these companies do all day

Man, I loved Battlefront 2! The campaign got kind of boring, but I loved playing Galctic Conquest! If they ever make another battlefront, I hope they include something like the Yuzhan Vong War. I'd also like to see a reloading animation for the fps view though, lol.
shudder. Nothing like horrible graphics to make you scared.
But who else cant forget guilty spark.
but deadspace the necromaniacs(whatever they are called) Especially the one that burst through the door in the ships bridge.
Hmm...seriously, I'm going with a top-three answer:
Third most hated Video Game Nemesis: Sarevok on the first Baldur's Gate (1999 if i can remember well) - because he made me restart the game as a different class after the 30th unsucessful attempt to defeat him
Second most hated Video Game Nemesis: A tie between Alma from Ninja Gaiden - Emperor save me from that horrible wench - and "Hogger" (haha good one right?)
MOST HATE VIDEO GAME NEMESIS OF ALL TIME: Mario Kart 64 "random i'll drive faster than you" adversary. Example: driving as Mario and being outrun on the last turn by Bowser who was the last kart 5seconds ago...I smashed several N64 controllers thanks to those f***s...
Just go find yourself a copy of Star Trek: Elite Force 2.
One of the god damn hardest, and longest games EVER. So hard and long I gave up trying to complete it before I wasted another couple of months solid playing.
I forgot the ruffians from viva pinata 2. I could ward them off but no there leader. He would come in and to late i would realize he kill my fav pinata each time. And the weed in the game too. They would flood my garden.
Favorite in game enemy: The Ice dragon and mage from final fantasy 9 . He was such a cool boss, and took a while to beat (i was quite young at the time >_> )
second favortite enemy: Any of the standard boss battles from megaman X4 or megaman X6 They all are really fun. Especially the Scrapyard Semi boss.
most hated enemy: Anyone from Mortal Kombat 2. everyone is just so freaking hard to kill....
actually now i played it again, and i got to say, Final fantasy 9 sucks.... and the boss also sucks....
Munch Munch! wrote:Can you really fit a banshee in that destroyed hallway?
no theirs a glitch(not really the right word) wherew you fly the banshee about scraping against the wall of the control room and one point activates the cutsene and the banshee is behind you when you try to take him down
Well they had to rush the ending because of microsoft, there originally was going to be no halo 3 just one and twobut they had to cut like 5 levels to make the relese date and data capacity
Ok, it wasn't crap, that was a bit harsh. But it didn't have that halo feel which hooked me into the first game. They just changed too many things, until it was completely different from the first game.
Favourite enemy... hmm *going through my shelf full of games*. I like squishing Orks with my Storm Troopers in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade... I also liked the Shade of Aran, Prince Malchezaar and Moroes encounters in the raid instance Karazhan, World of Warcraft. My best memories from when I played WoW are from Karazhan... Dead memories in my heaaa-aaa-aart - Slipknot song "Dead Memories".
Love Moroes' voice... "Ah... Unannounced visitors, preparations must be made..." "You rang?"

I have a bookcase stuffed with: Warhammer, Halo, Warcraft, Magic: the gathering and other Scifi/fantasy books.
I've been with my girlfriend for almost 2 years now. I don't look for girls in shallow town

that'll be me when I get a girlfriend
"yeah i'm not a nerd, honestly" go back to mine, room with black library artwork all over walls and bookshelf full of reference books or 40k/halo books plus minis scattered over desk

Yep. I'd think that'd be a given, considering I'm in high school. Ya know, when "image" is the most important thing.
I don't care, but they do.

prety much the same here, i'm not going to give up something I like for a stuck up but I know one person who has and one who can't mention he plays around his friends or they'll beat him, he has to keep all his stuff at his grans

What a sad existence.... not to mention his friends must be slowed. The only reason I've ever beat up a friend was because he was doing hard drugs. The spanker.
Munch Munch! wrote:My most hated enemy has to be Tartarus on Legendary. it's like impossible.
he took me forever to kill. Needler the gak out of him every time his shield drops. It works, trust me.
My fav enemy evar are the headcrab zombies in half-life 2. So disturbing, yet SO MUCH LULZ. I would go around looking for the most random objects i could find to hurl at them with the gravity gun. I would start fires in their path and watch them just waltz right through and turn into shreiking torches.
Most hated enemies ever are the Librarians from Metro 2033. Imagine slowed gorillas that can withstand an entire AK74 magazine to the brain, as well as multiple point-blank 12gauge blasts. You are supposed to just stare them down until they go away on their own, but for some reason that never worked for me. They would just slowly walk over, think about it, and then start beating the crap out of me. Seriously feth those clowns.
Munch Munch! wrote:My most hated enemy has to be Tartarus on Legendary. it's like impossible.

I highly doubt that'll work on legendary. A needler eats its 90 needles pretty quickly, and it's a close to medium range weapon. Exactly where you don't want to be while around tartarus.
I think one thing that also helped me was a random elite with twin needlers who showed up and sat back unloading both of them incessantly into Tartarus' back. He got trapped in a stagger animation and couldn't move, all while right in the open where Johnson could snipe him. So while he was stuck there twitching from the constant needler blasts to the face I was able to shoot his ass dead.
TL;DR: Take advantage of Tartarus occasionally getting stuck lol
Well, that depends.
The most hated enemy I can currently think of is the final boss of Street Fighter IV. By Gork, I hate that guy so much.
My favourite enemy to fight...I'd say the thugs in Batman Arkham Asylum. Everytime I saw them I was like "yay, more stupid goons to beat up while looking awesome".
And my favourite VILLIAN... well, Sephiroth, Bowser, Robotnik. There are a lot to choose from. But I think I'll go with this guy:
Soladrin wrote:Well, he's pretty sluggish and easy to dodge (IMO) so shotgun to the face worked wonders for me too.
This I do not believe. Shotguns are absolutley crap against Brutes.
Shotgun to the face + instant melee attack is very effective against all non vehicle enemies in all halo games. (Hunters don't have faces so they don't count)
Well, the hunters orange skin can be considered their "head" especially in Halo: CE where a single magnum shot could kill them. It was damn easy to kill 'em. They're like dodos.
you mean the Combine? I love their silly little police dudes with the radios that go BEEEEEEEP when they die. Makes it sound like a heartbeat monitor flatlining
Hate the snipers from Redsteel. When you think "those pistol wounds dont matter, i'll kill this guy then find cover", one would take you down from where you cant see them. with a body shot.
And the Omega pirate and Ghor from MP 1 and corruption. the phazon and fuel pools were sheerly annoying, and Omega seems impossible to kill (damn beam pirates)
Oh god the Omega Pirate. He was what forced me to abandon my attempts at beating MP1 on Hard. Between the random beam troopers showing up and Omega smacking the crap out of me, I would be dead before he was even at half health. I don't know how people did it.
My most hated video game enemy is the Geckos from MGS4. Especially when you're in south america in that market place and you need to find the chaff grenade to take htem out.
Most hated Vidoe game enemy? Me. Any of the Gran Turismos, Project Gothams, WipeOut, Ace Combats...infact any game I try to beat my last time, scores or kill count. But Gran Turismo 4 mostly sticks in my mind becouse I got so pi$$ed at the S licence final tests I twisted the pad in half!
Finally returned to this thread, having decided on my favorite video game enemy:
The marines from AvP (2010) when you're playing as a Predator in the missions.
You can mimick their voices and send them places, you can sneak up behind them and silently (but bloodily) kill 'em, you can eviscerate them directly, you can throw pointy objects at them and they die, you can shoot 'em to bits with plasma.. and the list goes on.

Yes sadly, i think bots on DOW actually cheat, they know were you are all the time and insane bots men are 2 times tougher than yours. so the odds are against you.

If you set up good defence they are easy to beat. But if you are tau or necrons that can be tricky.

Yeah that works but when you stay in your base, you run out of resorces slowly and when the finally stop spaming and when you try and go out and win they have more resorces, a bigger and stronger army. but if you plan it out well you have a chance, with any race
ooo tough choice i have quite a few favs they are:
Cortex - crash bandocoot
Chaos - Sonic Adventure (7th form was annoying)
Chaos - Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP) killed me over 100+ times
Mehrunes Dagon - Oblivion (looks totally baddass )
Jack Of Blades - Fable: The Lost Chapters (both forms)
Any Modern Warfare 2 Player - mostly full idiots i snipe over and over again
was gonna includ Eggman (Dr Robotnik) as hes the enemy of my fave Video Game Character but some1 already said it :( same with Glados from Portal
hehe
Can we include enemies from games that aren't out yet? If so I cast my vote for every jack in that upcoming Warmachine game... It looks f***ing badass!
MasterDRD wrote:Can we include enemies from games that aren't out yet? If so I cast my vote for every jack in that upcoming Warmachine game... It looks f***ing badass!
Of course you can! BTW, there's an upcoming warmachine video game?
Death, from Castlevania 1... hardest boss I've ever fought since you have to go to him just after the toughest gauntlet in the game with now health refills or check points.
Um...
Riku II from Kingdom Hearts I. Right after the dragon...My build was never set up for him, and you HAVE to watch the fgt cutscene. I've lost at least 100 times, possibly more. idk. I know all of the words for that cut scene, so probably a lot.
A couple different ones from chrono trigger..That one that does aqua II. And magus
Emperor Ing from MP2. I tried it again with full ammo and I beat it on my first try.
All bosses from Metroid Prime on hard mode FUUUUUUU
This wierd thing at about level 9 on air buster for the genesis
The second boss on altered beast..My game turned out to be bugged and the boss wouldn't take any damage
Most of the bosses I find hard are just because I don't pay attention the first time.

One of my favorites has to be the Tuurngait from Penumbra. You get no real weapon to fight it, no way to kill it, all you can do is try to run and hide from it.
Paxton Fettel equal parts crazy and creepy, Alma takes second though and the grunts from Halo series come in third just because of the way they acted.
Corvus wrote:you mean the Combine? I love their silly little police dudes with the radios that go BEEEEEEEP when they die. Makes it sound like a heartbeat monitor flatlining
I always thought the Advisors from Episode 2 were interesting from what little we saw of them, and of course the Striders annoying to kill but cool nonetheless.
Hopefully we get some Episode 3 information this year
Though my most HATED enemy are ultra elites... rocket shot to the face? Still kicking.
2 clips of battle rifle fire? The rocket exploded at least...
Assasination? You're funny, like I will get that close to it.
Oh and flood of any and every kind. They are just effing awesome...
Halo 1: They will not die!
Halo 2: Where did you come from?!
Halo 3: Haha! Take this flood suckers! *gun clicks* Crap...!!
Lol, too true.
Which part? ALL OF IT?
But seriously, I hated the level cortana, I think I wasted more time finding weapons then actually killing stuff.
Yes, all of it. But I also hated the level cortana. Damn flood sacks. Made it impossible to fill a room with lead without blowing up sacks filled with infection forms.
I know... the point of flood is to just shoot indiscriminately! Now you have to aim to keep the situation from getting far worst... and those pure flood forms... they were easy, except for the one who likes to shoot at you... they were annoying....
