Well, given that I have a South Yorkshire Travel Pass, and there wasn't many pics of buses and trains in Penistone, and I use the tram when I visit Sheffield...
I drive a 2002 Toyota Chaser. One of the 'Tokyo Drift' cars. It drinks gas and is a millstone around my neck/wallet. I also have a three wheeled Honda Scooter/Mini car. I also take Mrs. Khornholio's Daihatsu Latte Move mini mobile out sometimes. It has the pick up of a golf cart, but is small enough to make driving in Japan not the major headache it usually is.
Plan to get an S4 at some point, the prices are quite good these days. Probably won't be for 6 months tho. I'm sure they'll jack up the price just to spite me.
I was pretty blown away by the current pricing. This year's S4 costs about the same as what I paid for that car four years ago.
02' VXII Holden Commodore, which is basically a GM's Aussie version of the Opel Omega 2000-2002. I think the Chevys used the same vehicle base in US then too... they sold 'em as Chevys in other countries.
My ride is a 12 year old 26" 12 speed mountain bike.
Also a chauffeur driven 6 wheeled urban passenger transport (omnibus) or a train.
The wife, however, drives a Cerulean blue 2010 Honda Jazz 5-door (hatch). Gets around 680km to the tank (43l), so that's about the same economy as a PIOUS*.

No worries. I don't drive a prius to save the environment.
feth the environment. I don't have kids.
I drive a Prius to save money!
This is the reason the wife and I are considering buying one. I mean , our Buck gets pretty decent mileage for a 4 door sedan, but a Prius is easily double the mileage and on the Eway, they just get BETTER and BETTER!
Seriously my car now gets around 24ish give or take around town. So you do the math.
2000 chevy suburban. I ripped out the engine however, and replaced it with an Infinite Improbability Drive, so I think it's safe to say it beats pretty much everything else that's been posted.

LOLWUT? Penistone?
Too young to drive, but my mom drives a Honda Civic Hybrid 2007. It's nice...I guess.
VW Corado 1.8s (that's not mine pictured. Although I have met the kind of people who drive their cars to the top of car parks in the middle of the night purely to take photographs of it, not my thang). Basically a coupe version of the golf, but with funky retro right angles.
The cube has it's haters, but there are far more people with positive things to say. Especially this one. Custom paint, rims, spoilers & the DVD/video game system... Yeah...
I stick by my previous statement. ; )

I am waiting to see one of these cubes with an old kitchen appliance logo on the back - Like "Amana" or "Maytag" or "Kenmore"

I drove and built MKII jettas and Golfs for about 4 years. If you are going to get the rado, why not G60 or VR6? Also, the Rado's are often referred to as labors of love, they have many many problems...I hope yours doesn't have a sun roof.

Same here! what color?
And for the record there is no reason to drive a scion or nissan cube. I don't care if it comes with a rich supermodel girlfriend and bottomless cup of happiness. a steaming pile of crap with a DVD player is still a steaming pile of crap...
LOL Okay. So, I take it you've owned one and had the opportunity to see how it is, then?
I've had mine a year, now. With the exception that it's too light, despite the front wheet drive, to function in snow/heavy ice, there is not one single thing I can find to complain about.
What has your experience been with owning/driving these automobiles? Or are you simply voicing a baseless prejudice against them? I mean, "steaming pile of crap" is a bit more serious than, "I don't like the way they look" or something similar.

I guess I should be more specific. The Nissan Cube may be the ugliest vehicle I have ever seen. Reasons: it's asymmetrical and it's a box. At least the Scion has symmetry.
I think it's funny when I hear people talking about the cool amenities in their ugly cars; but I guess you have to justify it somehow.
And now that you mention it, where I live there is snow on the ground about a third of the year so I wouldn't be interested even if it weren't hideous.
This mid engined beauty is a 92 toyota MR2, non turbo. Mine is Custom Silver and has the sunroof instead of the T tops. Great for autocross. Odometer broke about 6 years ago at 80,000 miles...no idea how many miles it has.
I also have a 1968 vintage Sears Allstate. Its a re-badged Vespa sold at Sears. Found it rusted at a garage sale with only 300 miles on it. $50! Needed a lot of work, but its fun, scooter clubs are awesome. This too was repainted silver but with a flat green stripe.

I don't know, I think sometimes ugly works though. Especially when you buy into it. I mean corrugated metal on a car, they wanted this to be ugly. I think it works just for that, plus it's convertible, you can remove the doors and push the windshield forward. Some of them even floated and had propellers in the back.
I love these Things.
And this would be awesome
Russian Ural with a driven sidecar. I think sometimes things are so ugly and different they are striking.
These are hideous though IMHO Pontiac AS@NECK I mean Aztec
Wraithlordmechanic wrote:I guess I should be more specific. The Nissan Cube may be the ugliest vehicle I have ever seen. Reasons: it's asymmetrical and it's a box. At least the Scion has symmetry.
Well, that doesn't exactly make it a "steaming pile of crap," now. That simply means you don't find it attractive.
There is a substantial difference.
I don't understand why you feel a car needs to be symmetrical. That happened to be the first thing that attracted me to the car. The amenities were LAST, as I'm a notorious cheap-*ss, and amenities cost money.
The scion may have symmetry, but it has less interior room than a cube. That's important to some people. Especially those of us who are 6'+ tall or... big fat gamers...
To be fair, I will say you're not the first person I've heard/seen say the car's ugly. I'm okay with that.
Actually, you're the second. The other is one of my closest friends. He forwarded me a link to an article that rated the cube in the top 10 ugliest cars (I responded with a few links showing it's functional, mechanical and performance rating in comparison to others in it's class).
Far more people have made positive comments than negative, however. I can't go out without people making positive comments.
Wraithlordmechanic wrote:I think it's funny when I hear people talking about the cool amenities in their ugly cars; but I guess you have to justify it somehow.
I can avoid amenities. I can talk specs or performance. Side by side, I'd glady compare it to any car in it's class... ESPECIALLY a Scion! That would probably need to be a separate thread, of course.
Wraithlordmechanic wrote:And now that you mention it, where I live there is snow on the ground about a third of the year so I wouldn't be interested even if it weren't hideous.
Well, there you go. It wouldn't be right for you, even if it was less charismatic.
That's my issue with it too. It's not a bad vehicle. It's just too ugly to be something that should be 'pimped out'.
Same story with the Honda Civic. They're a really reliable, well rounded car. But they're certainly not worth the body kits and fart tubes that kids seem to love.

(It's a Jeep thing. The rest of you wouldn't understand.)
I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Hunter Green with a Spice interior, and an after-market soft-top from BestTops, along with some other after-market bits to make it even more off-road worthy. I can turn my car around in its own length, enter a parking spot that requires a 135 degree turn, drive over a fallen tree if it's less than a foot in diameter, and frequently enter and exit parking lots by driving over the curb and straight into a spot. And I can drive through rivers if they are less than four feet deep (though my feet do get wet).
In other words, my car makes your car jealous. It may be a big ugly green box, but it goes anywhere and everywhere. And with a V8 in it, it goes there fast.
I have 2. My daily driver is a 1985 Ford F-250 with a 6" suspension lift and 34" all terrain tires. Roll bar with PIAA lights, grill guard, also with PIAA lights. No tailgate. 13MPG
My baby is a 2010 Dodge Challenger. 6.4 Litre Hemi V8, 6 speed manual transmission. It's gray with black racing stripes. Hood scoop and spoiler included. 22MPG
Buying and maintaining cars like this is what is keeping me from buying all the 40k stuff I want.
See, now. *That* opinion I have no qualms with... as it's opinion.
I respect that.
My point is that being "ugly" does not make it a steaming pile of crap.
I *disagree* with the "ugly" comments, but it's all good.
I doubt I'll ever get another one until/unless they get the weight issue worked out, though. I enjoy driving it (handles REALLY well), but I live in St. Louis. While I know we're not near the top of the lists in such things, we gt so much snow (and ice) here that it's a problem. I don't like "shelving" one of my cars for a good portion of winter due to snow/ice.
metallifan wrote:Heh, we've got a silver GTO sitting in our car lot. Only two reasons it hasn't sold are
A) That according to our system, the nearest GM warehouse that carries parts for that damn thing is in Fontana, CA
and B) The GM Canada parts catalogue doesn't support the GTO. So if you need parts for it, you have to phone down to the states to order them.
Other than that, she's a beaut. I almost bought it on impulse because pricewise, we're pretty much trying to get rid of it at this point
I love my GTO. Getting parts is a bitch, yes, but it is worth it. I used to work for a couple car dealerships, I've driven a lot of nice cars. My GTO is one of the most comfortable, smooth, and exceptional cars I have ever driven. It is AMAZING. And it is a collector's vehicle too. Every year they made some significant changes to the car, so the three years it was made are almost all different cars. SO I take joy in the fact my car is only 1 of 876.
I can get over 15 MPG in the city, because I can get 35-38 on the highway. That's right, 35+ MPG out of a 414 HP 6.0 Litre V8. It's AWESOME.
I want the damn thing so bad. But I'm still paying off the tail end of the loan on my Grand Prix. Ahh well. Maybe if it hasn't sold in 2 or 3 years. Chances are, I'll still be able to scoop it up considering it's already been around for 2
Parts taking 2 weeks to get here would suck, but then again I probably wouldn't be using it as a daily driver either

I'm curious. What are they asking for it?
$25,888
That's right. A mere 26G's. For a GTO. Life hates me

How many miles and which transmission? Also, what year? Tire size?
Honestly, I can't even look up the VIN on this thing. I'd have to ask my Sales Dept. They're the guys with info on it. I do know it's a 2006, 6spd Manual. I've never actually sat in it, so I'd need to ask Sales or Service on mileage, and it's got custom rims and performance tires on it, so I have no idea on size.
02 Chevy Z71 1500. 5.3L v-8, auto tranny, 4WD, extended cab. 1200 watt Kicker sterio (more than just subs, so yeah my stuff sounds good). BFG All-Terrains for tires, still on stock rims though... Also, last fall I picked up a "slammed into two deer and drove away from them both" front bumper and headlight package for free! Yeah...
Mattlov wrote:The specs on that thing are completely wrong... 230 HP? V6? WTF?
I assume that price is in Canadian dollars? That's a pretty good deal.
If that is American dollars, that is not that good a deal.
I said that was the page. I never said it was correct in any way. But hey, who cares about the missing 200 Horse anyway... Obviously the IT guy that designed the page doesn't read vehicle information well
And yea, it's CAD. Like I said though, that tag is old. It's down to $25,888 CAD at the present
We also had one of the limited Anniversary edition 427's that GM put out. Sold that thing for about 28K... Damn... I hate being a broke-ass
Yea Im with you there Metallifan. If I could afford some new hotrod car Im pretty sure a GTO would be up there. When they remade those, I fell in love. They look so damn cool. Not to mention they hall balls. I used to live down the road from a guy (in a trailer park oddly enough) that owned one. And he would play with it from time to time and MAN that looked like fun.
It just sucks, because I have to walk right past it every morning, 5 days a week. And I have to look at it every morning, 5 days a week. And I have to remember that I'm too poor to own it 5 DAYS A WEEK, EVERY WEEK, ALL YEAR LONG
Well just be glad you still have the option to drown that sorrow with alot of booze. Im guessing you can afford that anyways, youve offered many a beer on here to me anyways

Keep looking, they are pretty damned hard to find now for a decent price. But if you find the right seller it shouldn't be more than €700 - €1500. Don't know the current USD rate, so you'll have to figure that out yourself. However, be prepared for shipping, because most of these puppies can only be found around Europeland.
