OK. If you want to talk about an already running RPG, ask questions or put out ideas for a new RPG, need someone to DM or more members, put it here.
That's right, any RPG on Dakka, be it War of Attrition, better dead than zed or Pelvichammer...
Get talking role players of Dakka!
Obivously except ones that have rules forbiding them from talking about it outside the game until it's completed
Current Mafia one I'm running seems to be doing alright at the moment. There's only five of them left, but two are the bad guys (they already know anyway). Pretty much it's in the same place most of them end up at this point. It's near the end now, but still pretty even and can go either way still.
Another I've had in mind since a bit before starting this one up would be Gretchin themed. Bad guys would be Squigs and pretty much no one would know who is on their team. Pretty basic with only the Squigs able to night kill as the only role in it. But, of course to show the stupidity of Squigs they wouldn't know who the other Squigs are. Pretty much get 3 Squigs and about 9 Gretchin and it's going to be pretty fun. Might run it later if there's a gap for it after the one Thor has just started up. Generally no one wants to do more than one at a time. But, if enough want to join in, then I'll run it at the same time.
Though my unknown apocalypse rpg hasn't gotten an update recently, I plan on writing a player even sooner or later for it.
SO if anybodies currently in the rpg, stay tuned.
Oke so I got a few new ideas for a new RPG. And I am asking you if it's good and worth starting this RPG.
The idea: It all takes part in the wild west. At the end of the civil war. Historical facts, but mixed with grim fantasy. Satanic worshipping is getting more popular. Daemons are to be summoned. Dead confederate and Union soldiers awakened to life by a sorcerous lunatic. Those of you who join, will play as an outlaw (yes an outlaw, no not a zombie soldier or daemon or law keeper, AN OUTLAW!). you must choose your religion. A faithful christian outlaw hunting for corruption and satanic influences, Or be a follower of Satan, practicing daemon worshipping, just slaughtering innocents for the fun of it and such.
Posses of bounty hunters will try to hunt you down, trying to bring you to justice, or just for the money. wether as a misunderstood hero hunting for corruption, or as a mad man.
as a player you will have access to historical weapons and any fantasized weapons you come up with aiding you purging the witch, daemon, satanic murderer, etc, or anything that helps you practicing the dark arts. Like silver bullets to kill summoned daemons etc. (No,there are not going to be vampires or werewolfs.)
don't get it wrong, If you play as a dark, evil satanic worshipper, you are not possesed by a daemon like in whfb or 40k. you just practice the dark arts. and no, noboday can be a daemon.
I got this Idea after reading 2 comic books from a series called Billy Wild, and just searching the web for any suitable artwork or possible avatars.
OK, I'm going now...
The Demise of Salem is now officially paused till a later date (next week) But when I get back, I will introduce some NPC leaders of various factions, till I return, happy hunting!
Scrazz, don't go down the path of the Void. It is a dark and horrible path of no return that involves being involved in too many RPs. Ithinks that three or four Rps is enough for anyone really, and I've broken that rule too many times as it is.. plus it doesn't really sound like my kinda RP.. I prefer RPs that take place in an already established environment, like 40k for example. Feel free to do it, but if you do, I'd advise you do it after one or more of the RPs you're already in has cleared up.

Agreed about becoming involved in too many RPs,but, how is the American west not an established environment?
If his RP is set in the American west, post Civil War,then any relevant information concerning that time period (weapons/land areas/etc) is readily available, all that would be necessary is "filling in the blanks" concerning characters/adversary's...and there is plenty of horror/occult material to use as inspiration for that.
Maybe it's just me...but I really like the idea of playing a religious zealot cowboy packing two Colt peacemakers and a bible.
Ha! glad you wanna join FITZZ. I am currently in 2 RPGs now. Pirates In space and Going out with a bang (Darkvoid 's one) I joined up another, but I don't think that one is even going to start.
Now I need to think a bit more about the story, and most important of all, a name for my new RPG. I am going to play in my new RPG as well. I already made up a good character for myself. I will write general and player events too. (don't worry it is not going to be in favor of my character)
But I could use some help on the background. 1 of my RPG ( which is now dead) started off without a good story, it was just about killing each other.
For a name I'd go with something like "Badlands",sort of conjures up images of desolate plains and ghost towns.
As for help in background,I'll happily help as time permits, shoot me a PM concerning anything specific you may want to know/add and I'll do my best to help with any research you may need.
...And I'm already thinking up ideas for a character.
Badlands sounds nice. I do need some help concerning the town where most of the action takes place. still looking for a name for the town. I already have a map drawn in my head of that town, with all places for possible events, like the saloon, the hotel, the church and the gunshop.
It shouldn't be very long - provided anyone joins up - although if they don't, I'm not too bothered. It just seemed like a fun idea at the time. (Now, I'm like "mehh") But we'll see, depending on biters or no.
Y'know, it's funny. Ever since I began to carve out my mark in this hallowed section of the Dakka community, I've noticed that there was a massive increase in the number of actual Roleplaying games. Anyway, just thought I'd list up a fair few; for memories, for graves, for gravediggers.. or Threadnomancers.. damn, how many of these brilliant stories fell foul to page six death? Too many.
Coc0loc0 wrote:Maybe we should try to reboot pelvichammer anyways? It was a cool RPG with a funny touch to it. I mean, it basically had an open ending.
I wasn't a part of it, but Ludd is gone dude. He was pretty important, right?

Ludd wasn't that important, but shas'o'vera and nikev are gone. And without them its basically dead.
I've been thinking about a new, rather strange RP to set up.
Bassically, it's an inquisition roleplay, but I wanted to spice it up. So, I was thinking of letting two people who joined the rp play as Main Character (from here on called MC). One as an inquisitor (lord) and another one as an Arch Heretic, each with their own Henchmen. Those Henchmen are the other players joining the RP. Each MC (Inquisitor and Arch Heretic) think up on some good ations, and PM to their 'Henchmen' what they want to do in a called event .
The two MC's send in their Ideas to the GM who calles the events, and who combines the sent actions in events, thus balancing the game.
^ Not enough freedom in that system Scrazz, it'd take too long and you haven't actually said anything about the background of the story, so it's hard to judge.
Oke, so I've written the background. I'll stick to the imperial/inquisition side with this one. But if I GM this one, I won't be able to play myself. Either way, I hate GMing. I'll put it online. Tha start of it with the background I mean, and I'll ask if anyone wants to be GM.

Wait for a few roleplays to die off first.. there's too many going on at the minute, and to be honest, you don't post on the zombie roleplay a great deal. Admittedly, not much has happened to your characters, but now sh*t is happening, so.. go deal with that sh*t.
It's pretty funny. Before I joined, there were quite a few roleplays, but not many seemed to have been that successful - only a few were any good, it seems. One reached 84 pages or something, but that record is soon to be broken.
Most of the threads were survivor threads, which aren't actual Roleplays.
Then all of a sudden I popped up and started creating roleplays left-right-front-and-centre. Ever since, it's almost like there's been an explosion in roleplays and that survivor threads a dying away now.
guys I have a cool idea for an RP, but i'm not sure about it, this I how I intend to open it (my one problem is lack of descriptiveness, curse my to the point brain)
my imagination wrote:A formation of interceptors broke away from the main pack, chasing the enemy fighters away from the transports, they wove inbetween the guns of the battleship, point defence lasers flickering as they tried to get a fix on their target. One fighter was caught in the tail and exploded, leaving a small impact scar across the hull of the capital ship. The interceptors Continued, Spiraling down into the carnage below as Republic cruisers traded blows with their Dominion counterparts, many of the larger Republic Ships were trying to flee but the nimble dominion frigates were like wolves, chasing them down and disabling them, waiting for the larger ships to finish them off.
Landers began to squeze between the two sides, plunging into the atmosphere on cushions of fire, ready to disgorge the Dominion troopers onto the inocent civilians below
On the ground civilians lined the streets, standing in the dark, watching as the flashes of light danced above their heads. Many had already begun preperations, hoarding foord and trying to gt away from the population centers. then as the streaks of fire began to light up the night sky the people began to relise what had happened. The Republic had lost. The Dominion were coming. People started to panic, they tried to strm the starport, a few managed to secure a place on the freighters docked there, but as they tried to escape they were blown out of the sky by Dominion fighters.
then the landers touched down, well they crashed into the earth, carving great gouges of dirt into the country-side before disgourging there cargo of beasts onto the planet...
basically a sci-fi survival game, the dominion is a mix of reavers, borg, orks and krogan and the republic is your generic sci-fi civilization, think star-trek, halo, star-wars.
the other way I was thinking of rinning it would be 40k, with gaurd against nurgle cultists.
but you guys would know better, what do you think?
Its a good Idea, but it could just be humans versus Humans. It doesn't have to be Humans verses some crazy alien race(though it could be) but humans would have more of a reason to let the planet live. Generally aliens would just destroy the planet, or if there was any resistance, destroy the planet. I like how I know what all of those races are...but I don't know where the borgs are from.
Guard verses Nurgle cultists I doubt would work very well. If the cultists one, they'd just infect the world and the world would be lost.
Fantastic Idea though I'm a huge fan of last stands.
Brother-Captain, sensors are finally able to scan the ship. They indicate it is a corvette-sized minor ship, probably a scout of some kind."
"Design?" asked the captain, warily.
"Sensors indicate... it is approximately 3040 meters on all sides, with a cubic shape."
Picard nearly spilled his tea, though reacted quickly enough to avoid it. "The Borg!" He stood up immediately, after setting down the teacup. "Shield up, ready all weapons, red alert!"
Commander Flavius was impressed as he followed the orders. "So THIS is what it takes to motivate the Federation." He would have to research the Borg a little more later, to learn what made them different from the Romulans they DIDN'T destroy earlier. Honestly, a race had been in multiple wars with humanity over the centuries and Picard didn't immediately open fire?
"Keep us just outside their weapons range." Picard paced the bridge over to the science officer's station, placing a hand on Data's chair's head. He was visibly sweating.
"It is time to finally see how these faux-Naval officers react to battle." he thought. He had never met a true Imperial Naval officer, only Guardsmen, but he'd heard of them. The Federation seemed like some bizarre combination of them and extremely lenient Rogue Traders.
"What's the enemy cube doing?" Picard asked.
"They appear to be... hailing us, sir. Shall I respond with a torpedo?"
"I wonder what they're going to say. Maybe that we should resist them" Worf mused sarcastically. A smirk appeared on Troi's face; apparently there was some joke here Flavius wasn't in on. Only the emotionless Iron Man and Picard, too busy for humor, said nothing. "Put it on screen." he said, facing the viewscreen.
An albino alien with cybernetic enhancement flashed across the screen. A terrifying red artificial eye adorned its face, with the other side covered by metal. Flavius recognized the alien, actually.
"Sir, this is not a Borg! This is an--"
"WE ARE DA BORK. YER TECH... TEK... SCIENCY AND BIOWHATZIT DISTINCTIVENESS'LL BE SCAVENGED AND ADDED TA OUR OWN. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE, BUT FUN. DIS BORG SQUARE'S GOT ALL DA FIREPOWER OF A SPACE HULK, BUT MORE." A toothy smile adorned the Bork's face.
Brother-Captain Picard very quietly, very patiently walked back to his chair in the center of the bridge, all eyes on him. He took a sip of his tea, crossed his legs, straightened his shirt, and while still holding the teacup, responded with an uncharacteristically serious "Mr. Flavius. Fire all weapons."
For some reason, as he entered the commands into the computer to fire (with its atrociously childish sounds as the buttons were pressed), Flavius' mind flashed back to his first day on the Enterprise, a week ago.
He'd been in the galley, and despite these Federation values of "acceptance," no one sat at the table with him. Admittedly, no one else wore constant battle armor, was eight feet tall, and required three chairs and entire side of the table.
After a few minutes alone, looking over a PADD of Starfleet protocols the Brother-Captain had advised him to read, the dark-skinned Tech-Priest wandered over, and sat across the table.
"Hiya!" he said, extending his hand. "Name's La Forge."
"Greetings." Commander Flavius shook the hand. Fortunately, he'd had experiences with regular Guardsmen, and knew to use a fraction of his strength even when unarmored. As it was, in full armor, La Forge was lucky Crusher wasn't needed.
"May I ask you something, Tech-Priest?" the commander asked casually.
"Uh, sure."
"Why are you so... unaltered? I am aware cybernetic enhancements are considered standard and necessary amongst the Omnissiah's chosen, but while my own experiences with them have been limited, it was my impression that having nothing except artificial eyes is considered to be the barest of minimums."
"Uh... in the Federation, engineers don't normally have artificial body parts unless their real ones are destroyed somehow."
"Oh. I assume you lost your eyes in battle? Perhaps with the Klingons?"
"No, uh, I was born blind."
"Ah." The room fell silent as they did; apparently, everyone was listening to their conversation. Flavius poked at the "replicated meat" and "synthehol." He suspected it was a good thing that one of his chapter had been sent, and not a Space Wolf.
"I am Battle-Brother Marcius Flavius of the Imperial Fists."
"Oh, do you guys have your own ship?"
"Yes, our fortress-monastery Phalanx sails the stars, recruiting new hopeful marines from the various worlds we come across, both primitive and advanced. We are especially known for our self-flagellation." he said casually.
La Forge choked on his food. "Self... flagellation?"
"Yes. We punish ourselves for inadequacies. Our sergeants and captains do not even bother to punish failure; it is assumed that any failure by a marine will be dealt with by himself. Why, I am using a pain glove right now." He set the PADD down on the table and waved to La Forge with it; now that La Forge actually looked at it, it WAS a different glove than the heavy gauntlet on his other hand. "It stimulates the pain receptors all over the body. Every Imperial Fist owns at least one. I'm used to it enough by now that I can still function; otherwise these gloves wouldn't be usable in battle."
"What..." La Forge's disbelieving and disgusted eyes were luckily obscured by his VISOR. "What inadequacy are you punishing yourself for?"
"The Brother-Captain suggested I read this PADD of protocol." he said, picking it back up. "The implication is that I am not yet versed enough in Starfleet rules, so, I endeavor to please him."
"Oh." La Forge awkwardly finished, picked up his plate, and left.
That was the last time anyone ever ate with the commander.
Dozens of torpedoes flashed from the Enterprise, spreading out and impacting the Bork ship with incredible force, burning through bolted armor plates and exploding within, blowing weapons of all kinds out of the square.
“Evasive action,” Picard said calmly, “Pattern Delta-3. Circle them.” He turned briefly, eyeing Commander Flavius, who was holding down the firing buttons for all the Enterprise's weapons with one finger. “Continue firing. Target their weapons and shield emitters.”
“Yes, Brother-Captain!” the Marine shouted, quickly scanning the console for the appropriate options, remembering the memorized schematics from the central computer. Worf watched with approval as he selected the correct commands.
The Enterprise went to half-impulse, skirting the edge of the Bork square's engagement zone while pouring phaser fire into its flanks. Literally every surface of the rusting metallic vessel was covered with weapons, be they missile batteries, old-fashioned autocannons or guns so big they could swallow a Galaxy-class cruiser whole. One of Marcus Flavius's expertly targeted torpedoes sailed into the mouth of a big gun, detonating inside the firing chamber.
An answering storm of hot lead cascaded from the Bork square as the gun exploded, taking a three hundred-meter chunk out of the side, killing thousands of drones. The Enterprise, even maneuvering like a bee fed only with cocaine and promethium, was taking hits.
“Shield strength decreasing rapidly, sir!” Flavius yelled, happily blowing his enemy's guns to bits, “Seventy-five percent and falling!”
A random console exploded, blasting a random crewman halfway across the room.
“Medical team to the bridge,” Picard said, his voice tense, before he looked back at Flavius, steadying himself as the ship rocked to one side. “Suggestions, Commander?” he asked pointedly, testing Flavius's knowledge as much as looking for a brilliant tactical plan.
The Marine glanced at the displays before him, and nodded. “This foul ship we're fighting is tough, sir, but only on the outside. These scans indicate that the core is made of wood and iron. We still have the shield strength to break through.” Inside his helmet, he was smiling.
Picard blinked. “You're suggesting we ram it?”
Flavius nodded again. “I am, Brother-Captain.”
Picard turned to face the viewscreen as sparks flew from every available surface, blanketing the bridge in an ensign-burning glow. “Then by all means make it so, Commander. Take us in.”
“Aye, Brother-Captain!”
The Enterprise suddenly tilted to one side, going to full-impulse as hundreds of shells spattered off its forward shields. Firing a full spread of torpedoes directly ahead, the well-built Federation vessel routed all emergency power to the forward emitters and charged in.
For a moment, the battle ceased.
...and then the Enterprise came barreling out the other side of the Bork square, trailing plasma from both nacelles and with its saucer covered in wreckage and broken green bodies. Behind it, the enemy vessel vanished in a brilliant explosion as its primitive petroleum power plant lit. Picard took a moment to assess the damage to his ship before issuing his next orders.
“Contact Starfleet Command,” he said to the Commander, “Inform them of what transpired here and of our current position while we attempt emergency repairs.” He sighed. “And get those infernal things off my ship's hull.”
“Yes, Brother-Captain!” the Marine answered, quickly bringing up the communications screen and preparing a message. When he had finished, he would be the first out the airlock, scrubbing corpses off the Enterprise's saucer section and finishing off whatever might still be alive. It would be just like old times.
Right so apparently, we're not aloud to discuss the thread about zombies in any particular detail, or hear other peoples views on the matter. Huh.
Who'd have thought Dark was Totalitarian?
Anywho, from general chatting with JP, it seems to have occurred that people feel let down by Dark, and want to elect a new GM. What's other people views on this matter?
Ive been in RP with jp discussing the situation...
Below is a direct copy and paste of the first reply I sent...
COPY..
While I personally would hope that perhaps Dark can get his gak together and carry on...I would of course participate in a new thread.
However,I must say I am a bit hesitant to simply unceremoniously dump Dark on his ass.
The kid has stumbled quite a bit recently...but he has put a great deal of effort into this RP,perhaps more than many people are aware of,and booting him due to recent events seems overly harsh.
Perhaps I'm being soft on him...it's a possibility, but he is after all a kid..15 perhaps?,his perspectives and interpretations are not the same as an adults,so I try not to judge him by adult standards....which of course may not be the best thing in this situation.
Dark may indeed have bitten off more than he can chew,I cant argue that...obviously as of late he's been in over his head and perhaps overwhelmed attempting to utilize his time to encompass school, friends, down time, the RP etc....and of course his current attitude isn't helping.
Maybe...and it's just a maybe,we could allow him a slight bit of leeway...although I know we already have...and perhaps see if he will be able to pull things together and carry on...if not...new thread..new GM.
Copy of my second PM...
I do agree that Darks apparent "whirlwind" schedule has left him "wanting" in the capacity of GM,and perhaps being in a "Player" posistion would suit him better at this time,as you said..his "inability" to participate in an RP will not bring it to a screeching halt in the same way his "inability" to GM does.
I would say that if he is given the opportunity to rectify the situation, yet doesn't do so in a reasonably timely manner...then we would be left with no recourse other than to open a new thread and replace him as GM.
I'm general neutral on the matter. I mean, I'm no game master, as many of the old schoolers may recall, the first zombie rp I did maay have ended at 15 pages. However, I think the real reason people are getting slightly feather ruffled about this whole damn business is his attitude. He just doesn't seem to bat an eyelid about commenting on every other part of the forum multiple times, but when it comes to the thread, he's suddenly 'out of time'
I know JP is definitely annoyed, as I believe FM, silly and Kais are in the same boat. I'm fairly sure that Silver and Scrazza have all but abandoned the thread.
As for Darks age. I don't personally feel that's an issue, without it becoming condescending bullcrap. If Darks old enough, and mature enough to write eloquently, I damn well believe he's mature enough to keep deadlines, and not let people down!
I have nothing persona; against him. Hell, of recent, after the whole argument died down, I regret acting so rashly towards Karon, but I do feel that his act of not giving someone else the mantle, even just for a few weeks, seems incredibly selfish.
ghosty wrote:Right so apparently, we're not aloud to discuss the thread about zombies in any particular detail, or hear other peoples views on the matter. Huh.
You're just being silly now dude, you know that all I said was not to post in the RP thread.
As for the rest of you guys, 'tis not my discussion. But I won't deny that I agree with what FITZZ is saying .

*Super french shrug*
Yes, I am being selfish. But that is because I enjoy being a GM and I want to see my plans of mass destruction come to fruition.
Now, I post on other threads because I'm a sociable guy - I like to chat about stuff. "When it comes to the roleplay, he's suddenly out of time" - no dude. As a writer yourself, I think you can appreciate how long it takes to write even a small good piece of fiction. Considering this event could quite possibly be, in total, the largest post ever written (no kidding - it's gonna be longer than even the 5.5k word one!) and requires me to take into account lots of actions and requests and preferences, it's going to take a lot longer. It requires time, and a certain mindset.
My comment concerning Darks age wasn't exactly meant as a means to excuse him,nor meant to be condescending to Dark,I simply meant that...perhaps a young man...even an extreamly bright young man..can at times find budgeting time a bit of a difficulty.
@Dark - I apologise for the first post. From what you had written, that we had to PM you on the matter, removed all chances of seeing other peoples views.
Being a GM is a selfless position; your instated in power to keep everyone satisfied. I think, that whilst YOU are enjoying you being GM, apparently others really aren't.
Incidently, it has been mentioned before, many times. If you say that you don't have enough time to write the whole post, why not, you know, do it in sections? And I personally don't find it takes long to write a good piece of fiction, provided you keep your head down, and plough into it.
A-and I believe a reason why people are mildly perturbed, ( a word I do love to write) is because they've sent their requests to you, what? 24 days ago? That's getting on to almost a month. So by your own plan, if you were to follow your own thesis, you'd finish the event by, ooh maybe may time?
Not attacking you, but I think the players have been pushed maybe too far from waiting? They're no longer politely waiting for the event, like they initially were. They're now (Excuse the analogy) A ravenous mob of hoodlums out for your blood.
As has been said before Dark is online for quit some time, on some days.
But said he does not have time. I ofcourse know that it doesn't mean that he is really behind his computer.
So this isn't relevant i guess.
Also the the promise of events and then ....... Not having them, makes me a sad panda.
I have no problems with it not going to happen because of things happening in the real world.
But three times i have waited for a promised event, and i'm still waiting.
I personaly think its one of the reasons of scrazz and silver posting less.
Scrazz mentioned killing of his character, i think.
Dark is not a bad GM, and his rambling between the rp's, I find entertaining. Hell he even writes six times better than me.
But (This isn't an attack on you dark) I personally would not have a problem with someone taking over as GM.
I hope my jibberish made sense somehow.
This is just my opinion about the matter.
but would someone else write the event then to let the thread end in a good way, if dark agrees ofcours.
and if someone is willing to write it.
I suppose I take back calling people Hoodlums then, It'd be terrible to be classified as a angry and violent youth, as opposed to a mob of bloody minded individuals out to murder a minority...
So apparently that came out much more viscous minded I thought it would.

Sadly..some women fear the undisciplined viral masculinity that a glorious beard conveys.
We bearded hooligans won't simply accept being cubbyhold into the "nice guy that holds her purse while she shops for shoes" posistion....oh no,we're crazy wild eyed rebels that the ladies both love and fear.
I realize when he "should" have done them,IMO they should have been done in segments, easier to write up and allowing for character interaction/tactical changes..
But what I was really looking for is "From today."...what seems a fair expectancy?
I won't make any promises because clearly that just annoys you all. But FYI, I'm going to be traveling 200 miles this weekend to see a 'long lost mate'.
But we'll see.. who knows what Friday could bring?
yeah, me during the snow-days we got off school in december, I usually have glasses on but they were getting clogged up with snow, need to invent glasses-wipers

I'm just tired. As usual. And still working. As usual.
