My first attempt at 40k, building my own army. I don't have much, and really don't expect to update all that frequently, as I don't get a chance to go to GW and buy things much.
I am going with a Tau army, mostly because i hate CQB, I always loose at it >.< and the look of the Tau is what i like the most >< But anyways my models are what you want to see.
My battle suit about 10 seconds after I finished gluing it to the base ><
. I based it in black about an hour and a half before I took the image. I have yet to decide on a color scheme. If anyone has some ideas please post them up. Would love to get input.

Hmm purple would be cool, but I lack purple paint..
The browns of those color schemes look sweet!
As for the mold line.. Erm how do I demold like it ><

Is that weapon loadout (burst cannon, missile pods, plasma rifle, multi-tracker?) legal?

you just take the mold line off by gently scraping the edge of a scalpel or other blade along the ridge towards you until it's gone, I don't always do this only for my nice models, the others just want to be painted and played with, but as for your colour schemes, I think go with the lighter beige scheme, it looks gritty and real, and you could do it fairly quickly with washes and a drybrush! keep us posted

Ohh xD No thats not a mould line then. Sorry for some reason I thought you meant when molding it together the two halfs. Yeah I couldn't get it 100% lined up with itself, but once painted and everything it should look more whole
and IDK about the set up xD

Another update
I finished painting my battle suit and drones. So I really have nothing to do till I make my next purchase of Tau items, but that wont be for a month or so, as I am going away for a while.
Anywho I decided to make what I call "Tau in a box". A custom carrier for my Tau Army.

I'm not sure if it is camera grain or not but your red looks rather blotchy. Did you drybrush it on, or is it a single coat? Red tends to be a colour that doesn't cover well, that's all.

Yes it is actually blotchy, its 3 coats of red, after the second coat I kind of put a black wash on it to see what it would look like, and kind of messed up... But yes it looks really blotchy in the pictures. If it were in real life it doesnt look THAT bad it looks more weathered, or like it went through a mud storm or something, actually pretty cool. I am aiming ofr a new camera, as this one kind of grains everything, and messes colouring up a little. (The 20-25 year old paints don't help either But thats just me pointing fingers)
New Pictures of the finished suit (I added a bit more paint to areas, and colored things in)

Try priming white for the Tau and not black you might get better results.

Ill try that.. Though from what I have seen from my friend's army white primer with red paint makes the red really really bright.
Ill test it out though on my test marine that I have.

no it tis not! you need three hard points not four. and how convenient because
AAAAAH MY EYES!!! never EVER stick a burst cannon on a crisis suit! it's a rediculous waste, because flamers offer better close range fire with their templates, missile pods are better long range, and lets face it:
EVERY other tau basic weapon is ST5 AP5 and they almost all have better range!
Now that I've suitably lambasted you for your loadout choice (ok maybe i should have gone softer...since I did the same thing...) lemmi just say really really nice job on the painting. your painting looks very clean and crisp, especially on those drones. I also like the detail on the crisis suit, and the red and white(? it looks like...) go together really well. So nice work to you sir! keep it up!

Lol I know its not legal, I only use 3 anyways that is my Tau exception, and the rules me and my friend play by allow it as long as I have a good reason for it . I like the burst cannon as it has a little more range than the flamer, as that is my long range tau suit my next one will be mostly CQB :p
And thanks I did ALOT of touching up the edges of the suits and drones with black and white so that it looked crisp and neat.

Mmm yes good point however for the same number of wounds and fewer points you can get more shots and better long range survivabilty with stealth suits, as they cost less, have their handy dandy stealth rule and are smaller and so easier to hide behind cover and intervening terrain...
Yes very good work, I didn't have the patience to go into that kind of detail on mine until I went back and bought more crisis suits (I've had only one, my shas' el, for basicly 83% of the time I've been playing) Just on a personal note tho, I wouldn't mix in the silver, as the white is the same material (metal vs colour, for those of us who are heraldry buffs) and are thus interchangable, as they are both considered "argent" Anyways, to make sense of what I'm saying, I'd use white instead of the silver as it works better with the shade of red you've got. Really nice detail on the legs too...
32260
Post by: Tazay
Ahh ok. i really just put the silver there so that it looked more realistic, because chances of a machine gun barrel, and exhaust ports being white are pretty low Next one ill paint Ill keep that in mind though
Next purchase will probably be in a month or so- as I am out of funds ( Too much slurpies) and my birthday is on sept 4th, and Ill probably get some Tau forces, then buy some wiht the money I get. Unless I use my tips from work to buy a stealth team..
Well anyways, yes Ill keep this post updated.

i like the scheme, a lot, but just asking, are you watering down your paints m8? the white seems a tad chunky and i can see the black undercoat underneath, if i were you, ide go over the red and white again to smoothen out the coat. and im with Miss Dee on the white primer.
Im looking forward to seeing more Tazay

Nice armament choices. I'm considering trying to restart my tau for the 3rd time, this time doing all FW crisis and broadsides mixing in light infantry and snipers.
32260
Post by: Tazay
Miss Dee, sadly no Army Painter Red. As for white primer, it makes the red too bright, I did try it on a test model, ill post up pictures later.
Yeah my paints need a little watering down, more than I did for the Broadside. I blame the paints for being over 20 years old (Bought in 1980-1990 according to my mother). And yeah I guess the red didn't cover up the black as well as I had hoped. Though I am liking the dirty look of it.
Thanks Carabine
Just an note: I am almost done painting the Broadside. One more night of painting should do it. I put a wash on him to make him match the Crisis suit in the dirty red part. It actually looks pretty sweet. My birthday is in 6 days, so I will probably have a Tau battleforce fully built and painted in a month or so. Cant wait

Another update Pics coming soon!
Well my birthday passed, and I got the tau battleforce . I messed up on the battle suit in it though, broke the flying thing, had to hollow out the hole again.. though it looks more epic now. I am now considering what Spray base to buy, so white, or black? I personally like the look of the black, and I will be using a better red. Though Ill black wash it probably just because it will look epic. I might get white & black, white for the kroot..

Post by: grayspark
Black is the best base in my opinion.
Always works nice no matter the color.
White sometimes makes the reds look pink...
17916

get the army painter red as you dont need to use an extra primer.
32260
Post by: Tazay
Yeah, I have been looking for the APR, but I can't order online, and no stores in my area carry it from what i have seen. The closest thing I could find was spray primer at the local paint store, and that stuff melts the GW plastic faster than a microwave does butter.
Ill ask my 'supplyer' if they could order it in for me, but I don't think they will.
Im asking for my dad to pick up black in the mean time.
32260
Post by: Tazay
Sorry its been a while. I am getting caught up in school, and I am still trying to get ahold of a good spray base. I used white for the images I will post today. But first some info.
- I broke my Devil Fish.. Not one but twice (Broke the things to hold the engines on). So I fixed that, and I am hoping to get it based as soon as possible.
- I am currently in the process of buying my friend's Tau Army. It's half painted, and has the colors I want. But with a few modifications, which I will have to fix. But I should have that and pics posted by the end of this week/ next week, depending on when I have time to buy it.
- I am also working on terrain right now. A building. So ill have a post about that later...
- And final thing before the pics. I am about to start work on my board. It is a 'secret' project I will be keeping from my friends, as I don't want them to know. And since none of them read my posts on Dakka Dakka I have no fear of them finding out so you guys will be blessed with watching me .
And now for pics.

Thanks Miss Dee..
So my brother recently got a new cannon camera, and decided to take pics of my Tau for me. The lighting isn't the best, but I think the few he took are pretty cool. The stealthsuits and FireWarriors are all still WIP, but they are done enough to be somewhat presentable at a tourny or something.
I am hoping to get a Hammerhead or a Piranha. I dont know yet (Probably the Piranha, because it is cheaper >< )

Post by: Tazay
Hey wow, its 2011.. Long time since my last update.. (Not like anyone reads this )
Anywho. I have yet to make any new Tau Purchases. Sadly I am running out of money, and i need a job (Being only 17, and no place wants to hire me as everyone has 16-17 year olds and they want older people now) I've run out of warhammer money (Buying games didn't help either).
So to waste time on my army and make it better I've started to repaint it all. I decided the red, white and black just didn't work. So It is now black and dolphin grey. So yes my Tau are now called unofficially "The Dolphins" IDK if the name will stick. Ithink because most of the tau vehicles are named after some sort of fish it might fit well..
Thoughts?
33681
Post by: bunnygurl
Dolphins aren't fish...they're mammals... >_>
Anyhoo, I noticed you're not using GW or Vallejio (dunno if I spelt that right) paints. What brand do you have? Americana it looks like to me (but I could be on something o_O). I'm not 100% sure that's decent modelling paint, especially for finer detailed models like these. They tend to be too chunky (hence the chunky looking paint comments from others earlier). Please forgive me if I'm wrong, this is just what I've heard through the grapevine.
I liked the color scheme you had going for your Tau earlier, but by all means repaint them if you want. Sounds like the new scheme could be pretty neat.
Good luck on the job hunt (it was difficult for me too when I was your age). This can be an expensive hobby, but please don't give up. You've definitely got some potential.
32260
Post by: Tazay
Oh Shush xP They swim, and live in water. They are fish (I admit defeat, yes they are mammals, Sorry ;-; Its a wonder I'm not failing Bio).
No I don't have the resources to buy GW or Vallejo at the moment. I am using my mom's 20+ year old Ceramcoat, and yes Americana paints. I found the americana were chunky, but I did water them down before using. The red near the end I just filled the thing with water and shook it up, no more chunks.
I did too, until I took the time to look closely. The red really didn't cover the black well (As it was pointed out) and I was running out of it, and I can't find any more. I have a full thing of Dolphin Grey though. Once I get money ill probably order some Vallejo paints, and paint new models I buy using those.
Thanks. I won't give up, my friends who play need someone to beat on >< All of them have 2500+ point armies. I have barely 750 points xP
Edit: You have the most epic picture ever bunnygurl
33681
Post by: bunnygurl
Ha. I win.
Well, I suppose if you can water the paints down enough, what's the harm eh? It's just the only thing I've used Americana paint for was to paint the headboard for my bed. Hmm.
Don't feel bad. I don't have any large armies either...though that's only because I can't focus on one army at a time. I'm all over the place.
Thank you. I found that picture somewhere on the interent. I love it and it fits with my name, so I figured wth, right?
32260
Post by: Tazay
Blah, pictures look horrible. I really do need to get ahold of GW/ Vallejo paints ><. Yeah Americana seems more like the type of paint for wood crafts/ other types of models.. Probably wood models xP.
I won't feel too bad. Untill I am defeated again by my friend's new eldar force ><
--
And for bunnygurl, as I doubt anyone else reads this (Always fun to encourage oneself ) I have pictures 8D :
So I have discovered (Looking at the pictures) that I need to improve upon my painting skills, and probably water down the paint a little more. (And maybe not basecoat in black acrylic anymore).. I did find some auto detailer paint that another person uses (Can;t find his topic) and I was using that.. Till my friend borrowed it and used it all on repainting his army.

I'm sorry to say I like the grey alot better than the red. The coverage is smoother and they just look better in general. Although I may also be biased as I painted alot of red over the past few weeks and am sick of red. >_<
But I digress....

Post by: Tazay
Miss Dee: Oh kay, that sucks the club moved.
I have no clue what that is xP I don't know war machine that well.
Bunnygurl: Glad you agree with the grey The coverage is smoother, and it covers the black in less layers than the red. Maybe you are biased, BUT oh well
Digress?
I didn't get any painting done last night ;-; I was too busy raging at MW2..

I got a few minutes of painting in, then had to put them away to make room for a few things. So I took more useless pictures again, and I decided to reveal my new Marine. The Marshmallow Marine!
The stealth team
Devil Fish (New white spots)
New battle suit angle
AND now for the Marshmallow Marine. But first a little history about him. He was part of the blood angels. During a fight with some orks on the Stay puff Marshmallow planet (Oh yes, there is a planet) He was pushed into a lake of liquid marshmallow. He was recovered 5 years later by some tau, and because marshmallow is covering his eyes, ears, nose, etc. He just goes wit hthe flow.
Truthfully I tried the GW white base on one of the free guys from GW, and yeah.. He came out that way.. xD He is my objective marker. Though the rules that my friends allow for him is he can't be killed (He dies on the 4th turn of lack of oxygen), and he needs a squad dedicated to carrying him. They can't run. Or he can be strapped to the back of a tank and dragged behind it. ><
--
Ok now for a small rant. Right now Im really frustrated with my paints. 20+ years old (My mom gave them to me to use) and its ruining my models. My broadside's details are almost filled in trying to paint it. My lack of painting skill also is ticking me off severely. I almost snapped my only good brush today when painting. Im also frustrated that I don't have the funds to buy more Warhammer, and paints brushes etc. I've also broken 2 drones off their bases so far because I dropped them when putting them away. And I don't know how to repair them. Blah. So much stress..
--
On another note: On april 1st I am starting a Halo Marathon for charity. More info coming soon, but Could use some help gettingthe word out etc.
33681
Post by: bunnygurl
I had a Lizardmen Terradon snap off it's base. I used Greenstuff to stick it back together. Some careful squishing to make it smooth over the bottom of the model and the pole of the base should do. Then let it dry for a day or so.
As far as the paints go, they're only about $4-5/pot. Maybe start very slowly aquiring one color at a time. That's what I used to do when I was younger and have very little money. Also, if the paint becomes too thick on your models, then try to find some paintstripper (I've heard Simple Green is something good to use, just don't leave it overnight). Will take the paint right off with a bit of scrubbing with an old toothbrush.
And painting skill wise. Practice. I know it's been said alot, but it can't be farther from the truth. I've been painting for 10 years and am just now getting some truly nice looking models.
Good luck.

Post by: Tazay
Ill try and get ahold of some green stuff. The breaks are kind of awkward, at least hte shield drone one is.
4-5$ is a bit more than I can afford at this time. Ill buy them when I can though. I have heard of simple green, probably ask for some for my birthday (Sounds lame ><
Yes I know, im working on it. Im also watching alot of painting videos >< I guess one thing is I shake quite badly. ><
Thanks

Post by: bunnygurl
I don't think it necessarily has to be Greenstuff. Just some sort of putty that you can shape and hardens I would think.
Hey. I've been there too. Nothing lame about it.
Oh I hate the shakes. I'm not usually all that shaky, but there are days where I can hold myself still to save my life. Ever tried meditation? J/K.

A good paint stripper I use is Castrol Super Clean, or under the new name Super Clean. As for painting , Practice practice, practice. All there is too it. For the broken clear plastic Flight bases, you can simply drill a very small hole into the stand itself and insert a cut safety pen into the hole and poke it into your drone, where the peg used to sit

Bunnygurl- a little

Today was a good day. So here are the events that took place.
1: I got the battles suits roughly painted.Ill do some fine details pretty soon this weekend probably.
2: I almost ruined my drawing tablet and brother's camera. Spilt my paint water all over them >< Managed to dry them quickly enough to avoid any noticable damage.
3: I've gotten some support for my Fundraiser Marathon Thingy for Child's Play. 8D If anyone wants info on that you can find it here- http://on.fb.me/e3wqB4

1. Glad to hear to got some painting in. I started painting more Clanrats yesterday afternoon, but promptly ADDed and moved on to assembly my Beastmen Chariot, which btw, is a b**ch to build, at least IMO.
2. Kudos to your swiftness. I could only imagine there would be hell to pay for a ruined camera, no?
3. 58 hrs of video games? My hubby would be proud. -_- However if it's for charity then would wouldn't be proud eh? Good luck.

Sorry the paint jobs are not the greatest. My paint refuses to work with me. I tried watering it down, and it wouldn't stick. Hopefully I can get a job soon to start buying better paints, and maybe get some new models to paint up.

Do you wash your minis b4 painting?
19931
Post by: BLACKHAND
Hey Tazay, Your new scheme is very similar to my old tau which had a white over black with red highlights, I liked the slick look it gives the battlesuits and firewarriors, a real B*%ch to do on vehicles though! I have to say you need to start using more layers and thinning your paint though, some of paint is quite chunky.
Looking forward to seeing more!
32260
Post by: Tazay
Miss Dee: I didn't. I didnt think to wash them until after I started painting everything. Sadly.
Blackhand: Yeah I'm trying to find the best mix for water and paint for my paints. And yeah more layers will be put on. Hopefully an improvement will be sson on the firewarriors soon. And really? That sounds sweet. Do you have pictures?

Post by: BLACKHAND
Yep, heres my Tau blog, these where the first minis I ever painted and they suffer from thick paint syndrome as well but you have to start somewhere!

Have since sold them to a guy in the states but still have a few Kroot lying around waiting for a paintjob

Post by: BLACKHAND
Thanks man, I just wish that foundation paints and washes were around when I painted them, would have been much easier to work the white up from denehb stone instead of having to paint like 4 coats of white!
It was cool the way that the white undercoat blinged up the blood red though. Have a think about getting the FW tau transfers as well. They are pretty nice, and crisp transfers always help give an army a "finished look" IMHO

Looking nice. I do like that color scheme. My only issue (and it's a small one) is that the shoulder pads on the Fire Warriors are upside down, but I'm just nitpicking. It has to suck to have to use 20 year old paints.
For my Tau I use an olive green, black, dark brown, and light gray with white sept markings.
Here if you want to see.

(Don't mind the Die, I was bored and painted it.)
I just got the battleforce about a month ago so I only have a few models painted and not all have been photographed.
Also, I think it is cool what you are doing for charity btw.

I like those colours. The olive, brown and gray really go together well!.
I know they are upside down I deliberately did it that way. Thought it looked nicer.
Thanks. We are still looking for people to help promote. Give publicity to us. Its getting to the point its just friends, and we are kind of getting really antsy about it ><

Thanks. Oh, I see, I wasn't sure if it was deliberate or a mistake.

Ok so I have yet to get anymore painting done on anything. Sadly BUTTT I did model something new(ish)
Using some spare bits I had, and my friend had laying around I created the Tau Mobile Exo-Suit v1.
I know it still needs legs. I was hoping one of my friend would have spare SM legs, but sadly no one does ( crying) so I think I'll have to make due with Firewarrior legs. (Though I want to beef them up a bit though don't know how to go about it).
I used a CSM body, tau helmet (Inspired by another Tau Blog on Dakka, can't remember which one though >< ) and Battlesuit arms (from my broadside). I'm hoping to make a whole squad eventually. Which would look pretty epic.
I think It will count as a Battlesuit (The rules I use for it). But without deepstrike capabilities. Any ideas on what weapons I can put on him etc?

Update: I started painting some more (at school right now so I don't have any pictures yet) BUT I watered down the paint just a little bit more than I usually try and it seems to have gone on A LOT smoother than usual. Though it will require a few layers more than usual to cover up the black completely.
Also for my conversion models I have decided on stealth suit legs, so I think I will make a squad of 3 of them for fun. So ill be buying a stealth suit squad soon for this little project.

Well its been a little while since my last update. Updating at school again ><
I haven't gotten any new models. I have finished paitning everything now. For my first battleforce I think I did pretty good on it. I'll post pictures later on after work.
I also won't have much time for painting anymore. I got a job at my local walmart. A tip to anyone who need a job. Don't work for walmart, at least not the one where i live. They will screw you over. Still in school, and I'm working till 10-10:30 tonight, and then I have thursday, friday same times, then saturday and sunday late shifts. It sucks horribly, and isn't worht the money.
I'll be buying a hammer head soon. Hopefully I'll have it sometime next week. I have a list of what I want to buy which will be posted later. 300-400 dollars of Tau will be bought soon though.

If you arent having them deepstrike, kit them out w/ Plasma rifles, missile pods and multi trackers, that way you have some nice long range fire power that can give any enemy a headache.
Ouch, i feel for you, bad pay and bad hours, still it is money and that is helps with this hobby

That was the plan
The pay is bad. Hours are pretty good so far. For a first job its alright. Hopefully i cant find something better though.

also, you might want to sand off or cover up the more chaos-ey details on the bodies,
http://bit.ly/fVG1Bn
Ebay provides 36" of GS for slightly more than GW charges for 10"
Make sure you have pathfinders on your shopping list!
pathfinders are the best way to get marker lights into your army,
i take two units cos people like to kill them
and two units will give you enough markerlight support to light up any targets that get too close and dish out some serious pain
and dont slate Kroot! they are solid if you kit them out properly, shaper=wound sink, hounds=damage, krootox=
use them as an annoying flank unit, 10 kroot and 5 hounds can give most enemies a nasty shock, granted it wont last long
and they are troops so you can use them to sneak on and hold objectives

hmm 17 dollars us.. Thats like.... 17 dollars canadian >.> CHEAP! Ill be sure to get that once I have money xD (3 days away ><
I wasn't planning on any path finders really. Though now that you mention it, they might be a good idea. I might get a squad.
And I wont slate them completely. I just won't use them >< I'm not a kroot fan, and wiht my current plan I have no room for them. I'll be using O'Shovah as a commander, and his rules state that I can't have kroot. If anything Ill use kroot for small skirmishes.

I wasn't planning on any path finders really.
Pathfinders are perhaps the greatest force multiplier in the game, effectively improving everything tau are good at: lots of shooting
after a few medium games you will see how useful they are,
pathfinders point and FW make up their points much faster
just use FW but don't stick on the backpack and give them carbines leaving you with 4 spare FW
O'Shovah, hmm, not my kinda character, provided you don't want him and his bodyguard to act as an assault squad you should be fine
personally i think the 0-1 of pathfinders, broadsides, piranhas, etc is not worth the 8 man crisis unit he can give, since they become 1st priority target and will be unlikely to return all their points.

HHmm I'll proxy a squad of pathfinders in next battle and see how I do. Ill probably end up buying them in the end. Just I thought they needed a devil fish to be played. Not that I am complaining, but I really hate the devil fish xD
He is my type just because I can go CQB with him and win. As most of my friends are Long ranged tank support. The dawn blade is perfect against them. I'm going to buy a regular BS commander so that I can field the full squad of Piranhas I want. If I can find my planning book I'll post my full army list of what I want to buy.

Hmm its been a little bit since I updated.. So here is new hammer head pictures
My painting area:
So in the next month or so (After diplomas) I am going to make a purchase of a Stealth team, Firewarriors, and a piranha. OR a stealth team and a few battle suits. I need one pair of stealth legs to complete my custom HQ, and some fast attack.
Right now my army is locked in combat with my friend's legion of the damned. Which he is making up rules for as we play it seems. >< (Must do research into their abilities).
But yeah a quick update.

I have invented a new Tau!!
His name is Shas-Knob. xD I thought it was so comical I just had to do it so Idid. Just so randomly funny to see him among all the tau xD
So some real updates now. I have doubled my entire army now. I bought my friend's Tau army for 60 dollars. A whole battle force 8D So I have alot of painting to do. Hopefully I remember to take the pictures.
Im also planning on buying some Pathfinders and piranhas soon too. So I am slowly creating the army i wanted to. And I decided to go with a custom battlesuit commander other than Farsight Seems like a more strategic and logical choice now that I have done more research into it.
Sp yeah a quick update.

So a few updates now.
I bought a Piranha for my army the other day. Just one to see how they are built and how well I can integrate them into my army. So far I have yet to actually use it, but painting it and building it is going to be fun. I think I'll field a squad of 3-4 of them in my entire army.
The current one I have is configured with a fusion blaster, I don't know if this was a mistake, or a good idea. Any suggestions for the other 2-3 I buy?
I also finished my custom commander. I don't know what to call him, if anything, but I do know he looks more awesome than I ever thought. I have pics of his upper body, but I don't have any of him fully completed yet. Ill get to posting them soon once I get the pictures onto my computer.
My commander is configured with a Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multitracker, along with a drone controller for a shield drone. I also custom built the shield drone too. But Ill get to that in a little bit.
I also started painting some fire warriors. Nothing really new there. ><
The shield drone is my favorite thing i have built so far, next to my commander.
It originally was a marker drone that came with stealthsuits that I bought along side my Piranha. So i took the little objective marker thingy they come with, cut off the antenni of that about the same length I thought the marker done's was ,and glued it onto the marker drone xP I cut off the little pegs to attach things to and presto easy and almost free shield drone No conversion kits for me
So now my army totals 1,776 points in all the way I have it configured. I still have a lot of painting to do, and a lot of models to buy to complete it. I still plan on buying
5 battles suits
Commander Shadowsun
3 skyray gunships
2 hammerheads
2 broadsides
5 piranhas
1 squad of firewarriors
1 squad of pathfinders
squad of drones
shield drone conversion kit.
All that in the end will give me the sized tau force I want, and keep me busy for a long long time once I buy it. But right now I have to save for a car, drivers training, and college. So it might not be any time soon that I finish my force the way I want to. And at the rate my shelf is being taken up, I'll also need more shelf space.
So yes, any suggestions, criticism, or donations? Joking about the donations.. Kind of Jk Jk
Edit: Pictures will be edited in soon

Its been a while since I last updated I think it is time for an update. A friend and I did a battle a few weekends ago. I lost horridly (Never let the baneblade shoot first turn, before you even have your turn. 10 inch of blast is very bad for FW..)
So here is my current army list and point values. Totalling 2,342 points.
That is my total army list as of now (Without Kroot, as I hate those cannon fodder). I currently want to expand it with 3 sniper drone teams (Phasing out the Broadside), buff it up with enough firewarriors to have 12 man squads. And introduce 2 squads of Pathfinders. Along with adding onto the Piranha squad with 2 more Piranhas.
I am planning on starting a conversion once my funds become somewhat more abundant. I am going to convert a Dreadknight (Yes everyone is doing this) into a heavy railgun platform for appoc battles. Since sadly I am the only one out of my group that doesn't have some sort of Appoc specific tank/ walker. (Stupid baneblades)
Currently I haven't had much painting done. Ill post some pictures later, once I get a proper lighting source, and it isn't 1:50 in the morning (>< .
I changed my scheme somewhat a little. All troops are now Spacewolf Grey, all Battle Suits and Vehicles are Spacewolf grey and boltgun silver. It looks quite nice, and works extremely well. Though I am in need of new paintbrushes. Gamesworkshop stuff doesn't cut it lately. If anyone has suggestions for good quality items I could get a Michael's Craft Store, it would be greatly appreciated.
I think that is mostly everything for now...
Edit: Re reading on the kroot. I'll integrate them into my appoc army. a full squad or two..

Seems lately I haven't posted anything. At all. Almost a year since my last update. So where to begin...
First off- I have Tyranids now. Quite a sizable force. given to me by several friends, I've actually spent 80 dollars on it. I intend to build and paint it further, but I am missing 20 or so bases, so the current army is missing 9 Termagants and 11 or so Spore Mines. But looks intimidating none the less. (Consists of 1 Trygon Prime, 10 Gargoyles, 21 Termagants, 20 hormagants, 14 Genestealers, and 3 warriors. 9 Termagants remain unbuilt.)
Second off- I am slowly expanding my tau to the sizes I want it to be. Currently working on making the 6 6 man squads of Fire Warriors 12 man squads. I have 1 squad of kroot, and I intend to add one more squad of battle suits. I have 2 squads of stealth suits (One unbuilt) and with the new finecast stuff, Im going to work on building more Broadsides.
Though I really don't know how i want to structure my army. Seems I'm more going for the Mont'ka style army. Straight for the kill, but oh well. I will see what happens with it.
Just a quick update. A battle report will probably be coming soon, as a game will be played with my friends next week.
