It would seem that this game is grinding it's way closer! Found this on the OXM website - http://forums.oxm.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=10622 and there is an interview on live for those of you that have access to that. Nothing majorly earth shattering in either piece, however when the guy from THQ was asked if the Tyranids would be making an appearence he stated anything's possible", take from that what you will!
Hope this hasn't been posted before, did check but couldn't find anything.
Kryppers wrote:I just wish they'd stop getting THQ to make 40k games.
Was there something wrong with Dawn of War I/II that should require their overthrow? Of course this is ignoring that Relic is making the game, THQ is just the publisher.
RogueMarket wrote:Blizzard, but they make already a better 40k game - called starcraft 2.. =(
(haha)
Um yeah, we heard that one already!
I'm still waiting for the next trailer though - can't wait for this one, actually!
The chance to "Movie Marine" it up, gunning down Orks and hopefully everything else, from Tyranids, to Traitor Marines and Guardsmen to Possessed Sisters of Battle!
All in all seriousness - The Space Marine game looks promising.
@ Alpha - YAH! I wanna gun down every enemy of the imperium, maybne even burninate action.
I can't help to keep thinking though - that space marine with thunderhammer is moving ... quite damn fast in the trailer haha. Oh well its hammer time~
Yak9UT wrote:I hope its co-op on console split screen or ill just buy it on PC
The game is made for co-op, and 4-player co-op was one of it's original selling points. I wouldn't see that changing.
Also, three hyphens in one sentence. Feels good man.

Sorry mad moment there...
I have WFC and while I enjoy it the multi gets stagnate after a while but the campaign was top notch. Save your money and simply rent it =/ but you might get more out of it than I.
Indeed. Relic isn't without flaw, but they are one of the best in the business. I always at least try the demo for their games and usually end up buying them. (Also, I can't wait for them to make a Battlefleet Gothic game based off of the technology used for the Homeworld series...)

Oh yea, a BFGrts or damned near anything similar would be fantastic. Tie it into an epic, world spanning battle system like the Total War series... it would be expensive, what with all the lotion one would have to purchase.
Ohohoho, I'm all for it now all the more. When I grow up I want to be a castrated super jerk who stomps on heads and shoots the massive automatic rocket launcher guns.
Automatically Appended Next Post: It's got combi-weapons.
That footage was very cool indeed. Am very excited now. Am wondering if the Q1 2011 is a bit of a red herring and it may get brought forward??????? It seems the gameplay looks pretty much there now.
Also there's a studio tour video like right under it. It's looking very Gears-y and there's only two instant-kill combat animations shown, but I'm sure there will be more by release. Still no release date, and they're still not talking about multiplayer, although I distinctly remember 4 player co-op being a selling point and a feature in the first trailers.

"Cover is for pussies" is a pretty great mantra. The game is a 50/50 divide between shooting and melee combat, so it's going to be a fast moving and never stagnant game. God this looks more awesome every time I see it.
Looks great but I want to play as Orks not massacre them. I'll probably get it and if it's a success I hope they do an Ork game, years ago one company started work on a GorkaMorka game, I'd love to see Relic pick up those ideas.
jonolikespie wrote:Um.... according to kotaku it is being released early 2012. wasn't it 2011?? please god don't tell me its been bumped back.
They've just basically been saying "when it's done" with a general 2011 window. I'd rather have it be great and come out a few months later than have it sooner only to be unpolished.
THis game looks absolutely awesome! The in game play looks just lovely.....see, this beats me, theres another thread running, for those that don't know, and its to do with the Ultramarine movie thats due to come out.....the graphics in this game look better than the movie...go figure!
This is a definate buy for me when it comes out.....in fact, it even looks more fun than HALO!!
Have just been looking in one of this months Xbox mags (can't remeber which one) and they have the release date for the game down as Feb 2011! Hoping this is right!!!!
HAve just been into my local Game shop just to see if they had a release date. According to them it's out on 1st of March and is available for pre-order. So have mine now on order
rodgers37 wrote:(I'm sure it says somewhere, but i don't have time to look through various threads and reviews etc but...)
Is this game just going to be you playing as an Ultramarine? If it is, it might get a bit boring....
You play a MARINE. You get to arm him in a variety of ways, with various weaponry and equipment (jump packs, heavy weapons, various ccw, etc.)
The fact that he is skinned as an Ultramarine is about the most unimportant thing you could pick to possibly complain about with this game.
Seriously people, get over the "Ultamarine hate" thing, it was old and worn out ages ago...
It wasn't about the Ultramarine, i like Ultramarines, it was about the individual character thing, i just can't play games like that for very long (although i don't seem to have a problem with Assasssins Creed....)

Probably not by THQ, but most online/store release dates aren't a million miles out....Play.com has it down as 11th March, Amazon doesn't have one though (and they tend to be more accurate i believe....)
Speaking as one who works at Gamestop, Space Marine has a date of March 1, 2011 currently, but anything that's the first of a month is really just a placeholder date until a firm date is set.
However... new releases, 9 times out of 10, come out on tuesdays, and March 1 just happens to be a tuesday...
What I would gather from that is, expect Space Marine sometime in the general Feb/March/April area, with the possibility for being pushed back into the summer.

I agree with you, but it would be nice to get to paint him over with different chapter colors at least
I just returned from the local gamestop. Spacemarine is indeed open for pre-orders, but the staff there said the release date in their system was Dec 31 2011 @@
I suspect there is misinformation about.
for those of us who are fanatics of the 40k universe, it seems like this stuff always takes ages to come out :( -- and for the record, there is nothing wrong with THQ studios or Relic.
THQInsider wrote:Space Marine has been confirmed for release in Summer 2011.
There's also some new screens up here showing a new weapon - The Plasma Gun!
Those new screens are loads of awesome. Thanks for supplying me with my new desk top and screensaver pics!
I think this game looks like loads of fun, and the visuals are very cinematic and evocative of what I always imagined the 40K universe to look like cinematically.
As someone who loves/collects/plays Orks, I am pumped that they feature so heavily in this game, even if they are the fodder for Space Marine carnage.
As someone who doesn't spend a ton of time console gaming, I have to say that this game will be the first game I will have bought specifically for myself in a number of years.
