Hello all i hope you will help me with constructive feedback and praise if i earn it.
I will update this thread regularily with Miniatures that i finish and when i have time post things i already have done before signing on, on Dakka Dakka.
So for now i start with 2 Iron Angels Traitor Marines i just finished.
The Iron Angels are a Blood Angels successor chapter which was closely related to the Mechanicum.
On their search for relicts of times past they discovered an old Space Marine Helmet which wondrous powers.
The Chapter Master immediately fell in love with the sheer beauty and radiation of power this helmet posessed and had to keep it for himself...
without knowing that this helmet once belonged to a champion of Slaanesh and contained a deamon which started to influence the vain and proud chapter master already.
In this very moment the fall of the Iron Angels Chapter began.
But now without further ado:
I hope you like them .

Well the 1st thing I'd tell you to do would be to upload your pics to dakka. They are really big (which is good) but take along time for slower connections to load. Its very easy to use, just ask if you need help.
Im confused tho, are they loyalist or trader marines?
32347
Post by: Iron Angel
They are traitor marines but i like to do kitbashing with chaos marine and loyal marine miniatures.
Many of the Iron Angels still look like normal marines and only some show mutation already.
They are "about" to fall from the emperor.
And thanks for the advice with the pictures, i will figure it out and upload them on Dakka later.
EDIT: I uploaded them here now. Size is better now.. thanks again .

A) Nice Freehand, especally on the LR
B) Good conversion and kitbashing, keep it up!
C) Where did those wings come from?!?! I must have a set!
D) Dont get discouraged with low coments, you are new to dakka still. Once you comment more on other plogs, people will start to get to know you and come comment on your models.

really nice work. i like your dreadnought very cool and your iron angel dude F&A.But my only bit of criticism is you need to knock the emblems of the imperium off of them so there not so confusing

He did say that they are just starting to fall to the side of chaos, as such they still have much imperial iconography on them.

Thanks for the compliments its good to read this.
And the wings are from: http://www.shop.battlefield-berlin.de/index.php/katalog/artikelinfo/11939-1-show-deva_angel.html
The other feathers on the backpack and the ornaments in the inside are made with kneadite.

Yes what whalemusic360 says. I try to make them look "hybrid"... And some are going to get more chaos onto them as the project evolves.
The older miniatures will also most likely get the weathering the newest 2 have (except for the Iron Angel who will never get dirty as a gift of Slaanesh).
On the other hand i cant go overboard with the chaos look as i play them (and always have played them) with Codex Blood Angels.
@Vignor
Thank you what does F&A mean?

Love the wings and paint scheme at first having trouble telling loyal or traitor but figured it out! Great work!
Mind telling me how you get your models to stay on top of the pots?

I actually just placed them on these pots and they stayed there...
But if i paint a single miniature i usually "glue" it to cork with this: http://cgi.ebay.de/UHU-Patafix-80-Klebepads-NEU-/160437779388?pt=Bastelwerkzeuge_klebstoffe
Sorry i couldn't find a US product thats like this.

I like these very much - I've gotten hold of some old RT corvus marines and cant decide what chapter to paint them - might have to give Iron angels some thought as i love your colour scheme

Oooh, damn those old skool jets look sweet. I'm damn envious, my guys have crappy new ones :(
Great use of the maxi heads, I used them myself for my Iron Worriors. They look ace here! The Iron Angel is a great centre piece, but the real eye catching bit is the freehand angle raider. Wow, seriously!
Only criticism I'd make is that claw on the Khorne-naught looks a bit too big, I like the top of it, but its a bit Too long imo. I like the... looks like a Dirge Caster? The backwards spotlight on his shoulder, looks very good! And the lascannons, possession perfection

They look pretty awesome. I like your style of painting and you have executed it very well. The Chapterhouse Studios jump-packs looks great on the models. Is your army supposed to be set during or after the chapters descent into chaos?

Thank you and yes its big i made it from the legs of an old epic bio titan.

Its supposed to be during the descent but as you can see some are way beyond rescue.
I love the Chapterhouse jp and i have about 10 more who await pinning/magnetizing. I did pin and magnetize the packs on the back so i can swap them for normal backpacks which i will paint next.

@all
Keep the feedback coming its really great to know what you poeple think.
Next i will paint the other backpacks and i think the dreadnought. The bases of the assault marines are now finished too and i will post a picture today.

Post by: Iron Angel
Ok i didnt start painting backpacks or the dreadnought.. i had some modelling work to do on the dreadnought first.. oh and because of that i started to make my first member of the Iron Angels Death Company which is still very much WIP.
I thought i go for white and not black. As i believe that is more contrast to my army which is good and on the other hand is, i believe, the colour of death and sadness in china.
So this is also very fitting and gives it for me an exotic touch. Besides i always wanted to paint white .
And i will paint all the metals in NMM because it looks so much better next to white imho.
Ok here it goes:

Hmmm, i like that brown effect on the white, mind if i steal it for my flesh tearer sang priests? Is it a build up of gryphonne sepia?
Im in the process of weathering my marines up to, what did you use? i used some forgeworld weathering powders mixed with alcohol, but not to impressed... hasnt made it onto my marines yet, only testers and my libby dread (see my WIP in painting/modelling.

And feel free to copy/ use anything you like in this Blog.

I use MIG pigments without any additives. I just brush them on the miniatures and then seal it with varnish.

Dark Angels are just great miniatures. I also have a full Ravenwing army at around 2000 points. Finishing them will be the next project after the Iron Angels.
Yeah my Codex is german ^^ i actually prefer the english codizes (less errors in them) but its to difficult to talk to other players who use the german codex then...

I like the more chaosy ones too and yes the miniatures are getting better as im becoming better at painting. It also took a while to find a satisfying way to do the paint scheme of my chapter.

These models are really cool. I personally love the bases and the dreadnougts are very nice, I like to see so much effort put inro it The blending of the yellow on the Iron Angel(the model that is) is also very nice. The onlu real 'negative' comment is that I fell the red is kind of blotchy and looks like you washed it with a brown tha pooled all over the jump packs fx.
Othen than that picky little comment your army looks really nice, and I'm looking forward to more!

Hey there The Iron Angel is actually painted in NMM but the picture is not very good but thanks anyway .
The brown on the Red and onto the silver is grease and stain mix. I wanted it to look greasy and weathered. Well i guess its a matter of taste (or picture quality) and i apreciate your comment none the less.

I use a template i found on the web.
I will use the template for the basis of the warhound and create my own stuff around it, like the rivets and the vinyl profile thats under the rivets.
The template for the shinguard is angular shaped.. i will try to make a round one.

Hehe yes i could go for black with red ^^. I hope there are real snakes with these colours. I could look at nature for guidance then .
Nice thing is, i will soon make a commission (Tyranid) who also has black/red as colour scheme. I planned on painting the scales black with red highlights.
It seems i will paint these colors quite a lot in the future .

Hello again and sorry to all that i have not posted for quite a while now...
But i can assure you that you didnt miss much, as my titan is still only the feet .
I just wanted to show you a miniature im working on atm. With the upcoming Grey Knight Codex, I finally decided to make a Custodes Army, which i will play with the GK Codex.
The mini is self modelled with GS and Magic Sculp and not finished of course. The space marine next to him is for scale purposes only .
I want the Custodes to be huge, as they are going to represent Paladins .
And now the pictures (the second one is a little older):

I will continue with the Iron Angels at some point for sure, but right now i'm very invested in my Custodes project.
It's the first miniature i'm making nearly completely myself (bolter and blade are from GW) and i kind of fell in love with making my own miniatures.
Would I have to make a guess, then I would say that i'm going to paint again, after I have finished at least one squad of 5.

That custodes is awesome.
The sculpting is remarkable on the helm and the custodes spear is fantastic. You've managed to incorporate the bolter into the shaft very stylistically.

Thank you very much feedback is very appreciated!
Ok since i'm doing mostly smaller corrections on the Custodes, I thought i could also show some progress on the Warhound.
I have finished the basic leg structure and im working on the torso.

I made some progress with the Titan i want to share with you.
I would have made the weapons today as well, but i tossed the bottle of glue on the floor... which kind of ruined this .
Oh well i have to go and buy stuff for the Warhound anyway.

Ok, I only made detail progress on the Custodes, but it might be interesting to look at.
At the moment, i'm mostly taking material away from the miniature, the cape was way to thick for example.
Also the shoulder eagles had to go, as I didn't like the way they looked (I wanted them to look like roman field signs... it was a fail i think ).
Also i started to work on the leader of my "counts as Grey Knights Custodes", Lord Kaldor Draigo.
See you next time with more news on the Warhound (i have the L profile now and more stuff to make rivets!).

That custodes is very cool, didn't realise how big he really was in the first pics.
And that looks like a real titan leg now it's been riveted

That is a lot of rivets! Nice work on the custodes btw, do you have to sculpt each model individually? It may be easier to make resin casts of torsos, legs etc...
Keep up the great work!

I want to sculpt every model, because in the fluff every Custodes has his own individual looking armour. The next reason is, that I want to pose them very dynamic and I think this is not working with precasted parts.
The only thing which would be really good to cast is the weapon, which I might do.
I made new pictures of the progress I made today. The Custodes is mostly detail work of course and I hope you notice the little differences.
Draigo is taking shape and i wonder how he will work out in the end.
The Titan has many more rivets on his legs now. I haven't counted them, but it should be over a thousand now if the average rivet is 1mm in height.

Ok here is an update on the stuff im working on i started a second Custodes now, but its so very little to see atm that i did not make a picture of him.
Next time there will be a picture of him of course .
The Titan is now in playable condition, but still misses a lot of rivets and paint of course.
Oh and next time I take pictures of the Custodes and my own Draigo Custodes, I will clean them before doing so .
I hope you like the update and find it worth looking!
Let me know what you think.

Now a picture of a Black Templar force i started with surplus minis i had. The goal was to create a fieldable force in about 2 weeks, so the paintjob is not that good (as is the picture).
But it works on the tabletop and looks good if you dont look to close.
EDIT: New picture

I want to introduce you to a new long term project of mine .
After I finished the Black Templar force, I wanted to paint something different and with a higher standard.
I checked the unused minis i have and decided to start a Deathwing force. The first miniature i will paint is the Dark Angel Dreadnought from Forge World, which is an awesome miniature, and hopefully a challenge to paint.
Here are the first pictures (comments are of course always welcome):
EDIT:
The whole force will consist of:
Belial
Ezekiel
4*Terminator Squads
5* Company Veterans in Rhino
1* Dreadnought (Forge World)
2* Landspeeder Typhoon
1* Land Raider (Forge World)
EDIT2:
Picture of finished Shinguard

Hi all!
It seems that I fell in love with painting the Deathwing Dreadnought, so I only painted him the last days.
The scary thing about that is, that only the arm is finished so far .
But see for yourself:
The pictures are still not perfect and i apologize. The radiants are far more visible in reality and i would be grateful for any tips on taking pictures you might have .
Cheers all!

I painted an Imperial Fist Marine today to experiment with painting yellow.
I hope you like the outcome, i might make an army of them at some point as it was great fun.
Any hints on how to build a fluffy Imperial Fists force?
Base is not yet finished.

Hi all, I continued my work on the Custodes.
The first one is nearing completion and im working on his base mostly atm.
The base will include a vase, from which the Custodes leaps to attack his for us unseen foe! (include dramatic ooohs and aaaahs here )
Draigo had a redo of the shoulders but is not finished yet. He also got a necklace with eagle and cross pendants.
The second Custodes is gaining in mass and I look forward to start working on him fully.
I hope you like them, comments are of course always welcome!
