I'm skipping this one, just as I skipped the theatre with the first. Like every 3D movie being released. directors seem to be running along the lines of "Lol 3D is are kewl an lotz of it are maeks gud moveez!" Translation: Story: copypasta/nil Characters: Shallow, predictable (at best) Acting: Junior High grade. Effects (3D, CGI, and Conventional): Through the roof excellent. Sorry, but unless it's a German film, 25% out of 100% isn't a pass. It isn't even a "Good effort, thanks for trying". Sadly, every 3D movie, since their popularity has resurged, has pretty much followed this 1/4 plan. Spend as little time and effort on the 3 important aspects of a film, so that more time can be spent polishing it's appearance, thus making your standard short-attention-span filmgoer so wowed by the movie's effects that they don't realise that they just got cheated out of $18.00 buying a ticket to a crummy flick, small drink, and small popcorn.

I'm with you (to an extent) here Cannerus.
I had zero interest in seeing "Pocahontas in Space" in it's first release (even though it was "visually stunning") and have even less interest in seeing it in Re-release (with extra added CGI boombangpow!)

I could stomach the first twilight......but it got incredibly worse. The 2nd gave me acid reflux, Im not kidding, infact thinking about it now is causing a flare up. I cant wait to see what the 3rd installment does. Why cant modern movies be more like the Harry Potter movies? Seriously, they just get better and better.

That 25% type movie is the exact kind of movie I would rather see in a Theater and in 3D though. It the main purpose of the movie is to be super cool to look at, then I want to see it in it's greatest visual form. It's not as if the other 75% is Bad (syfy's got mega shark vs giant octopus on right now for that), they're just nothing Exceptional. Having already seen Avatar in a nice theater I wouldn't go to one again, though I am tempted to see about getting into the local IMAX for it.

Thing is, once the 3D is gone, you're left with a film that gets a 0/4. Or at least a .5/4 that's right, I just used a decimal in a fraction. Bugger off.
But seriously, by aiming for 25% out of a potential 100, filmmakers aren't seeing what happens when the film -leaves- theatres, and thus, 3D. Suddenly, The people that thought it was -alright- on the big screen have nothing good to say about the home version. I wonder why that is...

KC, I'm living with my girl. It's close enough. She tried to drag me to see the second one, and I ignored the word-noises she made. Then I heard her make some threats about no hankey-pankey for a week and whatnot. I still continued to not care. She didn't hold true to her threats, and I didn't have to see a movie about a book written by an angsty, neglected, daydreaming teenage girl with (at best) a C- in 8th grade English. I would consider that a victory for men everywhere.

It's pretty entertaining on LSD, but that's about the only accolade I can give it. Then again, just about everything is pretty entertaining on LSD, as long as it generally doesn't require much complex thought to process it (See what I did there?).
This, however, is way too far. The media's already been forcing it down everyone's throats as if it was one of the greatest movies ever made, when the only thing genuinely good about it was the tech used to create it. I can understand re-releases when there's a sequel or some sort of follow-up, but other than that, anyone who genuinely thinks that's a good idea can feth off.

I concider my self a lover of most things sci-fi and what not but Avatar was more like Dances with Wolves than Pocahontas (ie just as long where nothing really happens then its over in a blink of an eye).
Avatar (or Dances with Smurfs), well...it left me just shruging saying "Meh" when it was finished.
Now don't get me wrong it was a very pretty flim but that was all it was, a cash orgy for those that rate grafics above story (the abomination that is "Nue" Star Trek also falls into this naff box).
Plus if I had just been kicked of that planet I would have nuked it from orbit, or burnt the atmosphier off with mass carpet bombing with said nukes.
I meen who wouldn't of done that, whom amogst us wouldn't give the order?
I know dam well I would. Personaly I would have done it at the begining of the flim as soon as the transport ship had atained parking orbit, it would have over in like 2 min

Guys, you are late to the Avatar hating party. I was hating Avatar before it was ever released. Just on the basis of the trailer I pegged it as Pocahontas in Space, and I decided to hate it as a reaction to the vastly over-egged hype around the movie.
That said, I watched it and I enjoyed it. The SFX are brilliant, of course, it has some solid performances, especially from blue-skin space elf girl and Sigourney Weaver. It's not a waste of money, it's just not the rocket ride to the moon we were promised.
