Next up is some of da regular boyz, just wanted some basic nurgley stuff on these so they wouldnt stand out to much and so they wouldnt be such a pain in the ass to model since i will need alot of them
Here they are:
And a Nob to lead them:
And last but not least the stand in trukk for my boss and his meganob retinue, again i didnt want something mechanical so i bought the new stegadon and im gonna make a trukk sized squiggoth from it.
This is a very early wip but i thought id show it to you and if you have any ideas on it let me know, i need all the help i can get with it. Im gonna use parts from 2 trukk kits and the battle wagon to make the armor, weapons and loadingspace on it.
Here it is:
C&C is always welcome!

Anyways i forgot here are some more of the bases i made for my boyz:
I also have a wirdboy that ive started working on, as you see i have trouble finnishing one project so i jump between the different ones i have going on But anyways ill see if i can get some pics up on him tonight or tomorrow.

Wow, that's some great minis!
I'm a big fan of Qorbins work and I think with both of your skill combined will result in an awesome cities of death board! Looking forward to updates. Post by: shockwave
thanks alot Rose! yeah Qorbin is a great modeler and painter and him and me play regurlarly. I dont think ill put the cities of death board in a separate thread, feels better to have everything gathered in one place
To give some further info on the board for those interrested it will be a 6X4 modular board depicting an abandoned, overgrown imperial city. The buildings and terrain will be placed on small 20X20cm, 40X20cm and 40X40 cm hardboard pieces for maximum modularity and the best possible look (im not a huge fan of having a board and placing the terriain on it, its so hard to get it looking good with terrain bases). We have already bought almost everything we need except some more of GWs terrain kits, still need one shrine of aquila, 2 honoured imperium kits and a landing pad but that will be fixed next month, we will still have a very good start. Other than that we only need some aqaurium plants
We will also be building a special table for the board as soon as i find something suitable as a base for it.

Wicked. I'll be sticking my face in here on a regular basis. Really looking forward to seeing some paint on them.
Your burna boy's tank fits perfectly. What did you use to make that tank?
I cannot state just how much i like this bad boy. The pose is perfect. Is that face mask a conversion? Finally found a model that tentacle doesn't look massively big on.
I might be jumping the gun but boy oh boy your weird boy is weird. Now i really like that idea.
Thank you for sharing.

wow guys thanks for all the positive comments, didnt really expect such a great response, it really warms me modelling heart Especially the "awsome sauce with a dash of epic spice"
And im glad you like them PDH, i must say i really love your scavvies to, they look damn awsome! As for the tentacle arm, my friend Qorbin gave it to me and i thought what the hell its the same size as an ork arm so lets stick it on there for a simple conversion but i really think it turned out great, also that head is not a conversion, its one of the heads from the burnaboy kit.
Also the tank on my burnaboy is made from a piece of plasticardtubing and the tankbustamines you get with alot of the ork kits
Im glad you like the weirdboy to, the body is from a confrontation elemental of darkness which i had lying around so i thought i would be perfect for a weirdboy cause with all that waaagh energy they have in them and if daddy nurgle decides to pinch in something damn weird is bound to happen to you
For all you who havent seen him in my gallery here is an early wip on my weirdboy, obviously there is a ton of greenstuffing to do on him but once again you get the general idea
Sorry for the blueness of some of the pics.
As always C&C is always appreciated.

these are really cool. You might want to see if there is a white balance option on you camera that you can set, it might be called something like evaluative white balance or have different options for different lighting.

OKay... these models are GREAT.
Kudos to you. I'll be watching your progress closely.
One change I'd make is on your Weirdboy. I'd change the angle of the head, so he's looking at the sky. The pose & head look like he's screaming -almost- in agony. Making he head face the sky will enhance that effect.
Otherwise, I'd spin the head to look at his left hand. Being the higher of the hands, it's more of a focal point. Having the MODEL looking at the left hand will only enhance this effect.
Hope that helps!

Post by: shockwave
Wow thanks again for all the positive feedback
Hehe im glad to see that you missed me Ghosty
Crimsonmicc: ill look into that, but this time i think its was the bad weather plus the grey table and blue background that made the pics kinda blueish but ill definantly keep that in mind
Thanks for the kind words Eric, i will try and change the pose of the head on the weirdboy to see if it will enhance the effect like you said, the reason i put it like i did was because with the pose and flow of the model it kinda felt like the natural way to position the head. I think it looks like hes charging into something ready to unleash a burst of flames
Zoomdakkadakka: Yes those are quite simple conversions on my boyz i think :S the average worktime on a boy is between 10-15 minutes. Not that i want to sound like im better than anyone else or some sort of uberpro at this its just that ive done so many conversions, and especially nurgle things that that kind of stuff has become really simple for me, its all a matter of practice just wait until you see the possesed dreadnought im working on or the rivertroll to meganobz that im trying to figure out how to do, now those are gonna require some serious effort.
Well now im off to work on some more of da boyz, im gonna try to finnsh my boyz unit until sunday.
Expect updates later tonight or tomorrow

I can see why you'd be looking to go that route.
Looking at the model further, I'm going to back off of my previous advice SLIGHTLY.
Don't have him looking at the sky. Have him looking "up." Yeah. There's a differince. : )
By "up," I'm speaking in relation to his torso. So, *IF* his torso was upright, he'd be looking straight up at the sky. Since it isn't, though... he's looking at about a 45 degree angle.
That make sense?
Line his chin up with his sternum, and make him tilt his head all the way back.
I think you'll like that more than the "charging in" look you're going for, because his body isn't really a "charging" body... it's a kind of "writhing and flowing" body.
I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Ok yeah ill try that, i just did some work on him and i tried repositioning the head but i wasnt quite happy with it so ill try your suggestion and see what it looks like, i also finished 3 more boys today, or almost finished them, there is some minor gs work to be done but i have to wait for the first layer to cure. I also finished the last 2 boars so tomorrow im gonna try and finish a rider so i can get some feedback on that, so expect more pictures tomorrow.
Oh and i also got my shipment of liquitex texturepaint, tamiya clear colours and rust pigment colours today so its gonna be real fun experimenting with those once i start painting

The Weird Boy is great. It looks like he is singing, maybe a musical such as "I feel pretty, oh so pretty...." Wonderful use of the green stuff. I am amazed having worked with greenstuff how you are able to sculpt it so nicely. I am looking forward to seeing more of these models.
13825
Post by: shockwave
Haha yeah looking at him again it actually looks like hes singing And about the greenstuff, i must say that alot of it lies in having good tools, i use a very wide variety of tools when i sculpt but one set of tools that you cnat live without are the clayshapers, they are a sculptors best friend, they make the job so much easier. If you want i can take a picture of the tools i use?
Anywho heres a small update for today, i did 3 more boyz yesterday, nothing fancy and theres still some greenstuffing to do on them but i thought id show them to you anyways, i also finished the last 2 boars for my unit and did some minor greenstuffing on my weirdboy and repositioned his head slithly so let me know what ya think
Here are da pics:
Dont know if you can see it that well but i took some old scaven tails and drilled some holes in him to make it look like a huge worm was crawling through him
Dont know if im all to happy with this one, it doesnt really scream nurgle to me, butt ill just have to see after some more greenstuff and with a couple of shoulderpads on him.
This last one turned out quite nicely, the tentacle really fits the model me thinks
Heres one of the new boars:
And last but not least the Weirdboy:
As Always C&C is greatly appreciated

Congratulations on your work, as someone mentioned I hadn't seen your scavvy thread but I'm glad I can catch up by now!!!
I liked the simple yet characterful names you had found for them, you should post the new ones!!!
Each ganger is really different from the other, yet they are unmistakingly part of the same team!!! Great work!!
I especially like "Rats" and the plasma wielder...
As for the Norks, they're great as well!!
The gasmask-themed ornaments look really good!! My only "concern", if there can be any, is the statement that they wouldn't use too many mechanical contraptions... I'm not a big fan of the Squiggoths, and I think some Nurgled, rusty Trukks would be a nice addition! But it's just my point anyway, your call's what matters in the end uh...

Post by: MagickalMemories
I like this head pose more than the previous.
I'd say "no" on the rat-tail dreads.
I LOVE the masks you're putting on the boars. Are they going to be painted as 'flesh masks," or...?
Excellent work.

I'm loving this! Great project and keep up the great work!
I'm wondering about something thought, can orks really be corrupted by chaos? I don't know if I'm confusing them with Tau, but I can't shake the feeling that I've read somewhere that orks can't be corrupted. Althought.....mushrooms aint immune to mold, so I guess there's no problem xP

Post by: shockwave
Thanks guys!
Im glad you like my scavvies yggdrasil, i must say im pretty pleased with the names myself, i just based them of what they looked like Im also really glad you liked the norks to, i have long been a huge fan of nurgle but space marines just aint my thing, way to boring to paint and model although i have always loved orks because of the ragtag, ramshackle style so nurgle orks was the next logical step
Though i must say that im the other way around, i really dont like vehicles and is more of a monster fan though the ork trukk and battlewagon are really cool but im not sure what i could do to nurglify them, the finished army only includes one trukk so i thought i should make it kinda a centrepiece of the army alongside my planned dreadnought. But i have a bunch of trukks lying around so if you have any ideas as how to nurglify them please share and ill see what i can do, perhaps ill make both a squiggoth and a trukk and see which one turns out to be the cooler
Thanks Eric! Yeah i felt that the masks on the boars gave them a more sinister, nurgley look instead of the kinda comical look the orks always seem to go for, though i dont know if i should paint them as flesh masks, that would be cool, it would give them kinda a texas chainsaw massacre leatherface feel, i just bought another box of boars so i will have to paint one up and try that. If that fails i think ill just go for the standard tattered, old cloth look
Also im not sure about the dreads either, ill just have to bluetac em on there and see what it looks like
Thanks Limbo! Im not sure about the tau, never really liked them so i havent bothered reading anything about them, but i know that the orks can be corrupted, theres actually a picture in the daemonhunter codex of nurgle orks, or at least i think they are nurgle orks, well atleast they are chaos orks
On a sidenote, tomorrow i have the whole day off so expect some heavy modeling to be done tomorrow
Peace out!

Just caught up with your updates.
I nearly fell off my chair at the thought of mega armoured river trolls. Fingers crossed.
I meant to ask in my previous post if you were going to be arming the Boars with twin linked dakkaguns on some sort of support rig?
I'd stick well clear of tentacle hair on the Weirdboy. Orks don't have hair, though Nurgle does like worms. Also on the Weirdboy would/might his head pose look better if he was still looking in the same direction but his head was less angled over (as in his chin was more level with the base)? Next time you have update photos please could you take one as if he were looking directly at the camera lens?
Looking forward to seeing some paint on these guys. Are you using liquitex texture paint on the models or on the bases?
Cheers
Peter

Post by: shockwave
Hey Peter!
Ill fix those pictures for ya tomorrow, im also gonna try to finish the weirdboy tomorrow and as i said in my last post ill just bluetac the tails on and see what it looks like
As for the boars, im gonna give each rider one of the guns you get for the lootas to represent the dakkaguns for wysiwyg purposes, ive already made one rider and it think it looks really good actually. I will see if i cant post a pic of that tomorrow to.
Hehe glad that you seem to like the idea for my meganobz though i must say its gonna be one hell of a conversion job but my plans for it is to not have the model completely covered in armour but instead let some of the bloated nurgly stuff represent some of the armour. but the top half of them will be coverd in some sort of rusted up, broken megaarmour. But i think ill have to order a large amount if bothgreenstuff and plasticard cause each nob will require atleast one package of greenstuff
The liquitex i plan on using both for the bases and the models, i was looking at youtube for painting tutorials and found some of les bursleys awsome tutorials, and in one where he painted a carnifex he used some liquitex stuff to give the plates more texture and i think you can get some cool rusteffects from it to, but we will see how that turns out once i start painting the army

For Nurgly mutations bloated bellies, sores, open sores, open wounds. Maybe fly like eyes, bulging eyes. Beweaponed extremities. Take off the lower jaw and have some type of organic or mechanical tube in place (like the mutant Quovandius from the inquisitor range). In fact as Scrazza said...anything gross. Oh one more Cross breed with a rat...Skaven Rat Ogres?
Best modelling tool I've ever bought for green stuff...clay shapers. Great aint they.

When I looked at them, I ONLY thought 'flesh masks.' the idea that they might be anything else never even crossed my mind.

I am honestly not very fond of the weirdboy... He doesn't look Orky or Nurgly enough to me... But I do have my moments of madness when struggling with Chaos, so that's you call... Btw, the flames & arms & GS are very well executed!
As for the others, they are so great!!! I prefer the gasmask, but I guess Papa Nurgle could have one issued to his new greensons!!!
Slug-foot is quite pretty, Grot's Nurgly, the Boar rider is dynamic indeed and his Dakka looks... shootier!
Facemask is very menacing, could almost be a Painboy!!
As for the Chaos Terminator, I like the zombie head & the old Skaven tails, they add a lot to the already nice greenstuffing!!!

Wow! Those are wonderful. I especially like the boar boy.
The green stuff work is superb. I think the weird boy looks great, like an ork that has just been taken completely by nurgle and is falling apart and rotting as he stands, coursing with chaotic waaargh energy. Good work!

Post by: Rose_Mountainz
Looking great! Imho I think you can add some stretched skin on the neck of the weirdboy. As it is now he's just looking like the head have been put there (if you know how I'm thinking). So a bit of greenstuff will make it more fitting!

Post by: PDH
Shockwave. Nice one.
When you said you were going to use a Loota gun on the Boar Boy I was a little concerned but decided to give you the benefit of the doubt. I am so glad I did. It looks bloody good.
Now onto the Weird Boy. Exactly what Rose_Mountainz said. The left side of the neck looks unfinished, the head looks kinda stuck on. If I were going to do something about it I would green stuff from the ear and the bottom of the jaw to the neck (the area in the red circle). Linking the contours of the neck up to the jaw line. I like the tentacle base and the powers from his hands look good.
That Orks foot looks like how mine did after I hiked to far....one uncomfortable week. The grot is cute...yeah I'm a freak.

Everything is coming along swimmingly. I think that your boar rider should be a little more fused with his shoota to sort of give that Nurgle look. You're 'Slugboy' could use a little more gs around the waist to sort of make him blend with the base a bit more.
Cheers, mate, keep up the great work!

Glad you like the weirboy better now, it really made a difference when i sculpted some skin around the neck.
Ghosty: i agree that a guardsman would be better suited but 1. i didnt have a guardsman and 2. i actually liked the pose of the ghoul better, it looks as if the ghoul just leaped to attack the ork and he caught it midair and is preparing to chop it to pieces
Dakkamakka: always a nice comment as a burgle player when someone is disgusted by your work
Lebaron: yeah he will be more fused, i havent started the nurglification on him yet, the same goes foe the slug and the rest of them, i havent done any greenstuff work on them whatsoever so he will be plenty bulked out in a day or two
Expect the next update around monday as i will be away for the weekend now.

Greetings everyone!
Its update time today but for the moment it Will be only text as we are having a nasty storm here so the powers out (im updating from My iphone atm)
Me and q0rbin played à game yesterday so i got to try out my new 1250 pt army and i must say it was ond close call, the only thing standing at the end of the game was my command squad
But i realized that bikes arent really that good and i can fit in 15 stormboyz instead of those 5 bikes but heres the problem and this is where i need your help guys! I have no idea how to nurglify stormboyz, the only thing i know is that wings is out of the question.
So guys if you have an idea just throw it out there, i need all the help i can get!

32193
Post by: PDH
Hey Shockwave.
How about some tubes from the Storm Boyz guts (ok childishly I mean bum area) linking up to the jump pack. Natural gas....
On an more serious note why not just use Storm Boys as is and nurglify them just like the boyz you've done. After all jump packs are just pieces of equipment.

Thanks! I did consider that you meant organic wings - but then so much of Nurglifying stuff (in my limited experience of looking at others stuff) seems to be organifying mekanikal stuff - so I thought it might at least spark an idea or two Especially as Orks tend towards mekanikal over organic... Fly (or other insect type) wings would seem a great start. Not familiar with the blightdrones - but given your ability and imagination - I'm sure anything you tried would come out awesome!

Haha ghosty no dont you worry, though i have a s#%tload of games to play through i wont be tempted away from the hobby like that again though the girlfriend is taking alot of time from the hobby
And i think when the new dark eldar comes out i will try and make as much time as possible for the hobby (oh how i have been waiting for them) and we have also started a small mordheim campaign (there i go again with a whole heap of projects at the same time)
But the thing is i work in a chocolatefactory so these 3 months are the busyiest time of the year and i work between 10 and 13 hours a day so when you get home you are pretty tired :(

Hahaha, I wote for "Shockwave and the chocolate factory". That should be your next project! An orc horde with gretchins as Oompa-Loompas!?
13825
Post by: shockwave
hehe yeah weetyskemian44 i work in a chocolatefactory but i must say the smell aint that distracting, you get used to it after a couple of years and to answer your other question, its my familybuisness so i can take home all the chocolate i want =D so if you want you can start calling me Wily Wonka
Hehe it would be cool to make a warboss that looks like willy wonka and grots as oompa loompas
And tobber, its actually undermutated on purpose, i wanted to leave some elements strictly orky like the face, i reasoned that its from the brain the psychicpower originate from so his head would be untouched by nurgles influence and i wanted to keep the muscular look of the orks so i didnt want to make him to fat plus it would ruin all the lovely details that are already on the oroginal model

Ok guys guess whos back
Well all i can say is that its been a busy couple of months here, first x-mas and all the work i had to do in the chocolatefactory though the paycheck i got was really nice (it was like 4000 dollars) and alot of if was spent on minis XD
Shortly after x-mas was over me and my girlfriend moved in together so up until now we have been working on the apartment, moving all of her stuff and my stuff but now its complete except for a few minor things and you know what that means, now i got all the time in the world to work on my armies and projects =D I have my own hobbyroom in the apartment and i got everything set up yesterday so expect some pictures up tonight after work.
I have started a haemonculus coven in 40k which will be extremely conversion heavy and also a normal dark eldar army. I also still have my beloved norks ^^ im working on and on the side ive taken a really huge interrest in warmachine/hordes and ordered me some minions and cygnar that i will be working on.
Now that Q0rbin has moved to i wont be spending alot of time playing so now i will be focusing completely on improving my painting skills and my sculptingskills and completing the gamingtable we started and also a secret project ive been planing the last couple of months
Well see ya tonight ladz just wanted to tel you all im back in buisness

But just wait a little while longer and there will be some pictures up Automatically Appended Next Post: okay guys its picture time, nothing to fancy cause i havent had much time to model stuff and me and Q0rbin spent alot f time playing before he moved =)
heres an archon i made from the lokhir fellheart model, the plan for my dark eldar is that my cabal are beasthunters so they chase down the most exotic and dangerous beasts the can find and i thought lokhir looked the part as a beasthunter archon. Its just a simple conversion for now:
Heres a scratchbuikt haemonculus i have started, im gonna try to scratchbuild as much as i can in this army to make it as unique as i can:
Here are some of he archons personal bodyguard, will be played as trueborn:
Here are some of my khymare, saw i guy on warseer who made em like this so i just had to steal them cause they looked so awsome!
And heres my version of a talos buillt from a wraithlord:
And last but not least heres a single norkboy i managed to put together:
Everything is still very wip so be gentle
illl write a bigger and more detailed update tomorrow to let you know my plans for both my armies and some of the other projects ive got going on!
until then cheers and let the C&C flow

Those Dark eldar mordels looks great. And I totally love the Talos. Way cooler than the old GW one. No doubt.
15578
Post by: c0un7_z3r0
Those are some sweet looking models! I like the simplicity of the Archon! It's easy to underestimate simplicity, but in the end it's the result that counts not how hard it was to get there, IMO anyway.
The Haemonculus looks promesing and so does the Talos, I totally agree with Balefire_Storm on that one!
Those wolf-lizards looks rather odd at the moment but I guess I'll have to wait and see how they turn out.
13825
Post by: shockwave
thanks guys! i am really happy with how the talos turned out, just a few more trophies on it and get rid of some of the jewels on it and its good to go =)
Yeah the lizardhounds looks a bit odd atm but there is a s#%tload of greenstuffing to be done on them so dont you worry
I also like the simplicity of him as you say markus, i think the model i s so great to begin with all it needed was some 40kifying
Arakasi, the cloaks are from the dark elf corsairs and i must say the were really easy to put together with the dark eldar warriors, just some minor cutting and glueing and voila =D
Btw C0unt hows it going with the warmachine models? did you find anything useful in the links? i just got some models for my minions, i ordered dr arcadius, lord carver and 2 warhogs, they are sitting at home ready to be washed and assembled
I also have some stuff that im gonna talk to you, balefire and Q0rbin about and see if you are interrested but we can take that over the phone.

Post by: shockwave
Hey Fellows!
Its update time, though no actual model pictures but this update is more to give you guys a general idea of where i am headed with my dark eldar army i have started
Like i said in my last post my dark eldar cabal is based on the idea that they are beasthunters and the archon wants to gather as much dangerous beasts and creatures as possible so my list will be heavy on beasts, scourges, wracks, grotesques, haemoculi, talos and chronos engines.
Since i want a unique army and there are no models for just about anything i want in my army i will try to kitbash and make most of it myself and seek inspiration from movies and videogames. I have already found some inspiration for the wracks, grotesques and some of the beasts.
I have always hated and feared but at the same time loved and had a strange fascination for things that transform people into hideous mockeries of themselves like john carpenters The Thing, The necromorphs from Dead Space and the creature From the movie Splinter so that is what im gonna base my wracks and grotesques on but with a dark eldar twist of course
Here are some pictures to show those of you that doesnt know what im talking about an idea:
Also heres is another idea i had for my grotesques:
What do you guys think?
And here are some pictures of what im gonna use for my clawed fiends, a real tribute to one of the coolest movie monsters ever
As for the Scourges they wil be based on the artwork in the book.
One thing i have no idea whatsoever how to do is the razorwing flocks and i dont want to use bats or birds or anything like that, it has to be something more alien so any ideas on that would be greatly appriciated.
My reaverjetbikes will be represented by some kind of flying beasts, but i have not yet figured out what to base them on and the same goes for my incubi, i want them to either look like the cenobites from Hellraiser or the Apostles of darkness From Rackhams range but they are a bit to much fantasy for my taste but the concept is cool
I am also gonna make a court for my archon even though they are not that great gamewise, i have all the parts i need for them so i just have to put them together so expect pics on them soon.
All ideas are apreiciated so if theres anything cool you guys think that i have missed let me know.

Sounds like it can be quite awesome really!
Happy to see that I'm not the only one who digs the critters.
Got a pile of these they are quite small since they are for 15mm and to be quite tiny even there but for minor ones on bases etc I think they could work for you. they are from khurasan miniatures.

Wow...the Talos actually freaks me out.
I like Archon Squid Face and his true born too....good use of corsair cloaks.
I had my first game against Dark Eldar last night and was annihilated. Foot Eldar vs a Wych Cult with +1 Strength combat drugs and they stole the initiative. Clawed Fiends made mince meat of anything they got in combat with. About 15 deep striking hellion made my Dark Reapers unhappy bunnies and I now despise reaper jetbike blade vanes and caltrops. It was a fun game and I learnt the hard way just how quick Dark Eldar can be.

Ill be glad to let you guys know that my first wrack prototype is ready for some greenstuff to, i had two hours this evening to work on him so expect some pics tomorrow afternoon
PDH: hehe yeah they are quite fast arent they, just wait til you face someone with a full pack of razorwing swarms, thats 60 attacks on the charge with rending, just ask Q0rbin what he thinks about them and reavers are really nice to, i had a bunch of them that sliced a daemonprince to death
Blambi: those small critters are awsome! I might just have to order me some of those
Well guys like a said, tune in tomorrow to see the necrowrack prototype and i still want to hear some ideas for the razorwing swarms so keep the comments flowing
13746
Post by: Q0rbin
Razorwing swarms has very long beards and very hard to crack. But to get rid off them just add water or a vindicator.
15578
Post by: c0un7_z3r0
I have no idea how those razorwings are supposed to look like but the first thought that pops in to my mind is to make something more ore less biomechanical or purely mechanical. A biomechanical wasp from hell or something. And then I came to think of a flyer from Quake II and "man hacks" from Half Life.
I'm sorry I couldn't find any better images but its a Quake II flyer and if you want to go biotech something like this might do it. I think this could be a cool concept as it is, but perhaps a more insect like approach would suit your army better...
But If you want a more mechanical approach I thought something along this line, namely Half Life 2 "Man Hacks". Personally I think this is a kinda cool idea, to have a bunch of mechanical nasties to release at your enemies as they try to get away. Nasty and demoralizing, a mechanical flying blood hound, relentless in it's pursuit...

Its a shame they went down the prepainted path. I wonder what went on in their minds when they decided to quit making some if the coolest minis around, ditching a superb gamingsystem just to start making mediocre, prepainted junk. I don't know much of the new rules but it seems to me like they were trying to compete with GW, big armies instead of small battle groups. Madness, madness I tells ya!!!
I'm excited about the sculp anyway!
13825
Post by: shockwave
Yeah who knows but apparantly it wasnt their fault, you can read the story here and when you do you cant help but feel sad for them, http://bluetablepainting.blogspot.com/2010/05/story-of-rackham-and-confrontation.html.
Oh and by the way gsmemaniacs.se still has alot of the dwarfmodels for half the usual price if you are interested C0unt!
And on an update note i havent got much done due to being sick and valentines day but now i think things will start happening
15578
Post by: c0un7_z3r0
That really is a sad story , I already knew much of it from what I've read at Tabletopgamingnews.com back in the days. But it did shed some new light on the matter.
I've been thinking of buying some, but it feels rather pointless now when no one plays Confrontation anymore. I believe I asked Q0rbin if he would start playing if I GAVE him his Dirtz back (which I bought from him and since then added some quite pricey stuff), but he wouldn't. Of course, I understand why, I mean building one army is time consuming enough, to play a handful of games thus building a handful of armies/battlegroups/gangs/whatnot is a project no one sooner than your grandchildren might see through (well, that's what it feels like right now)... To get to the point I really really love the models, Like Fulgur or the Thremopriest on razorback, but spending a lot of cash (money I really don't have since me and Ida are going to buy our apartment) on minis that will just gather dust seems like a bad investment. Especially since I still have to spend some serious money on minis that I will actually use...
Tough luck friend, sick on valentines day (or was it perhaps out of convenience, "honey I'm too sick to buy flowers and chocolate this year", hehe). Anyway, I hope you get well soon, I sure want to see that sculp!

I made some technotrolls recently and they turned out ok, just mixed the swamp trolls with some sentinel and ork bits and it worked out fine, and with the big bellies and the hunched over appearance i think they will look nurgly with some of you excellent convertions
Godd to see that your back by the way

it feels good to be back =)
the stormboy fly idea had crossed my mind before but the hard part is finding flywings for them, do you know any manufacturer that makes large fly miniatures? as for the dreads im sorry to say that trolls just dont cut is as they are to weedy to act as a dread and i am already planning to make my meganobz out of rivertrolls, but thanks for the suggestion m8 and keep the ideas rolling! any chances of getting some pics of those trolls you made though? it sounded like an excellent conversion that i might draw some inspiration from

Good to see you back.
Flys seem like a good idea for the storm boys. Instead of buying large flys perhaps make your own insect wings like HF Izanagi did for pimp my wizard.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do to the river trolls to make them in to MEGA nobs.
As for making the dreads norky I think similar to what you did with your norks...mutations, tentacles and drilling into the metal plates. Maybe have the part of the pilots cavity uncovered, rusted through and a rotten ork inside on show?
Well I'm hoping to see what you get up to.

Thanks Peter! Its good to be back
I finally ögot the inspiration to finnish my army, or keep working on it atleast
That wizard is badass! Though i fear that those wings are a little to undetailed for my taste :( but i will keep on looking til i find a solution and work on other things in the army until i do, but keep the suggestions coming!
As for the mega rivertrolls i need some help, what do you guys think of this idea: as rivertrolls are quite short and bulky armouring t heir legs and arms will be a pain in the ass so im thinking in the lines of a really fat ork with armor plates bolted to his body so the mix of his fat body and the armourplates will make up for the 2+ save?
For heads im gonna use the commando heads with the gasmasks from forgeworld.
What do you guys think of this, is it something that sounds cool?
I have also figured out what im gonna do with the dread (finally) the inspiration hit me yesterday while i was playing gears of war 3 and faced the brumak so i thought hmm that could make a really cool dread for my norks!
I cant upload a picture as im posting from my ipad but heres a link to a picture for those of you who dont what a brumak is
http://www.consolegames.ro/forum/attachments/f59-hot-story/18855d1237864430-secretul-din-spatele-gears-war-2-dezvaluit-brumak_harness_02.jpg
Of courseit will look alot more orky and corupted and i will base it on a stegadon so it can match my trukk
I have a ton of other ideas but right now im of to work on the actual models but hopefully ill be back tonight with an update! Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh i forgot, i have another question! Is ork blood and intestines the same color as a humans? Im in the process of painting my warboss and i dont wanna make any painting mistakes

Here are my versions of killa kans, or just Cybertrolls as i have come to name them
A close up of one, you can check the others in my gallery
I hope they give you som inspiration
And the idea of fat bloated orks with plates bolted to them sounds great to me, maybe using trolls as a base and nob heads?
Also, orks hare a dark red blood similar to humans, and the guts look the same for the most part

An update as promised
Here is the prototype for my mega armored rivertroll ork (though it is still at an extremely early stage as everything is still blutaced and there is a ton of greenstuff and plasticard work to be done, weapons to be added, hes not gonna have rivertroll feet etc etc but before i do that i want your opinion on him! Does this look ok or is it anything that i should change about him?
All comments and critisism is welcome!
As i said i also started painting the warboss so here is an early wip shot of him:
let me know what you think! Automatically Appended Next Post: Damn liveforfun those look badass! really great kitbashing and i like the painting, especially on the greenblue one!
Thanks for the reply on the blood question to! now i can start painting the gory details on my boss

Looking cool
For the storm boys have you considered using bloated "airship" style orks?
17621
Post by: LiveforFun666
Thanks Shockwave i have to finish those some day.
Your prototype looks neat but the arms look wierd together, uneven. maybe bulk the troll arm up a bit to look bigger, like the other arm?
But the armour and head look good, maybe some more orky/nurgly type bitz on?
The brumak idea for the deff dread sounds great btw! using a stegadon sounds good

Post by: shockwave
Hmm silver thats an interresting idea! The question is though, if the ork is like an airship, how does it land? Maybe with powerful reverse thrusters? Hmm may have ro try a prototype of this one
And liveforfun fear not my friend, he will be bulked up, i think the powerclaw will even be switched to a trollarm and ill just attach the powerclaw to it and once im happy with the armour there will be veins, filth, rust and other nurgley goodnes all over it! Almost all of the model will be covered in greenstuff and resculpted in some way.
I will be working on him all day tomorrow so hopefully there will be more to show you guys

Well i have made some progress though sadly not on my meganobz or dread as i found out that i need to order some parts before i can continue but instead i worked on some more boys since i will be needing 30 of them so now i have 10 or so to go, i am almost finnished with 4 new ones and i even took a bunch of pictures though i noticed that the new episode of the walking dead was out and i just had to watch it and now its way to late to upload them so you have to wait til tomorrow

The rivertroll-ork-thing is very cool, but needs a little more dakka, i think.

WOW.....you can paint! I assumed you just liked modelling side of the hobby The colours on the Ork Warboss are lovely and unexpected for the Norkyness. The green is perfect! Now I really want to see your scavvies painted!
The Meganob looks like it is off to a good start, the armour shoulder looks the part. The tiny head also works wonders. Though I think Logan is right it needs some more dakka....perhaps a wrist mounted shoota (or the gun off the back of a warbike).

haha thanks Peter! but you are right ive ealways been more of a builder than a painter and its just recently that i have started painting but im glad you liked it! And fear not ye of little faith cause as i said earlier this is just an extremly early version of the meganork, i just wanted to see what he looked like before i started building him, he will get all the dakka a true ork deserves and the will all have some sort of big gun either strapped to the arm or the arm and gun will have fused together like the gun arm on the warboss.
As i said i havent made any more progress on either the meganob or my brumak dread but i did manage to get some work done on da boyz! Here are 4 wip boyz i am currently working on:
First up is one inspired by the movie The Thing (which is a big inspiration for this whole army)
Next one is just a standard boy with a nurglified arm
You have seen this one before but now hes almost finnished
And the last one is a very early wip, im gonna build a huge belly on this one and he will be puking his guts out!
And last but not least a small groupshot of the ones i have finnished so far
Let me know what you think guys!

Sorry guys for the lack of updates, its december and with christmas just around the corner i am working my ass of and sadly that leaves little time for gameing and modelling. Yesterday was my last free day before xmas but fear not i did not let it go to waste cause me and Q0rbin got our hobby on and i managed to finnish atleast 3 more boys and i got some more paint on the warboss which is shaping up nicely if i may say so myself
Sadly i havent been able to take any pictures yet but i will to try to upload some tonight! Ive also ordered some more bits to make the dreadnought so once they arrive ill be working on that!
I also need some help decinding on something!
Me and my gameing group will be starting something similar to gws "A tale of four gamers" now after christmas and the goal is to have a 500pt completely painted army within the set timeframe and i am having trouble on deciding wich army i should do for this challenge?
The choices are the following:
A tyranid army based on John Carpenters the thing (both the new and the old movie)
A dark eldar haemonculus army
A dark eldar archon/warrior army with an egyptian theme
Continue building on my norks (i will of course work on them to alongside this other project)
So what do you guys think?

Yo Shockwave.....missed the last update. Nice stuff....though I think one of them Norks has been based on John Carpenter's The Thing.
I'm looking forward to seeing that warboss, the last WIP of great.
As for which army...depends on what the time frame is? And I am in two minds...part of me wants to see the Norks finished but un-rushed.
But I'd be interested in seeing your take on a Dark Eldar Haemonculus army

Ok guys im back again after the holidays and a long hard month of nothing but work! But now that its finally over i hve all the time in the world to be working on my various projects =D
Lets start with a huge thanks for the kind comments! Im glad to har that my work could convert even the biggest of nurglehaters, if that doesnt warm your heart i dont know what will
As for our tale of four gamers its still not set what the timeframe will be so i havent decided on what my army of choice will be, but fear not PDH the norks will never be rushed, ill just have to work longer and harder on them during the days to get them done, i think this might actually be the foot in the ass i need to start painting them seriously! But on a sidenote, i am seriously tempted at doing a haemonculus army, the conversion possibilities would be endless =D
I am also very glad that all of you like my "Thing" orks!
Cutthroatcure that step by step is extremlt easy, its just gws iyanden darksun foundation with a few heavy washes of gryphonnesepia and a highlight of iyanden darksun mixed with just a little bad moon yellow something like 70/30 or 80/20.
Ok unto todays updates! i have quite alot of pictures to show you guys today, not all of it is nork related though cause i have some other wip projects i wanted to show you guys, some stuff ive started to paint recently and a terrainpiece i made.
But lets start with the Norks:
First up is the finnished Thing boy
Nect up is sort of a two part model, also based on The Thing. First the upper part
And heres the lower part, i imagine this ork being torn apart and the lower part is trying to reform the ork in a true The Thing style
Thats it for the Norks this time, but i have a ton of ideas for the last 9 of this squad so expect alot more pictures after this weekend!
Now onto something else, some random miniatures that i started painting.
Goreth the massive
Kelzaral the diabolical
Water familliar 1
Water familliar 2
Ron and Bones pirate
And last but not least a terrain piece i made from 2 dead bonsai trees
Let me know what you think!

me likey.
The "Thing" Norks are brilliant. The top one made me smile about the film.....the second I was err yuck and the third made me laugh. Great stuff.
The random models are looking nice....the pirate is an odd sculpt but I do like the skin tones.
Nice to see you're recycling dead things too. Hmmmmm what are you going to do with your Christmas tree?

Those Orks are disgusting! In a good way of corse. Also great terrain piece, anyone thought of planting a live Bonsai tree on their terrain board?

Post by: shockwave
Thanks guys!
Glad you like the thing boys, i think thats the direction the rest of the squad will take, i got alot of inspiration from the new movie!
glad you like the terrainpiece to, i suck at taking care of plants so when they had died i made the best of it and to answer your question flyingpooo it would be cool to have a living terrainboard but i could never take care of it XD
And sorry to dissapoint you PDH but my christmastree is plastic so no terrain from that i checked out your thread the other day and i must say that i love your inquisitorial conversions! They are awesome, especially the nurgle lord one! im gonna drop by and leave a comment later and subscribe to it!

Mrmerlin i can tell you that i am wearing your exalt with extreme pride! Hope i can keep earning it to
Lostsoulcaseyslaw its better late than never you know and if you want your own norks i think it would be great if you started your own project, the world needs more nurgle orks =D
Crimsonfist832 i think you to should persuade your brother to turn his orks to the dark side to
Im really really glad you guys like my painting and sculpting and i will do my best not to dissapoint you. Sadly to say i have been lazy the last couple of weeks, me and my girlfriend are gonna move to a bigger apartment so we are preparing for the move, but the good news is as soon as we have moved in ill have my very own hobbyroom instead of a small closet to work in
I have some great ideas though for both my dreadnought ( which has changed shape again) and for the rest of my boys squad so stay tuned
