Hi all, first post!
I have been collecting Warhammer 40k for about 8 years now and got recommended this forum from a friend of mine.
I first encountered orks way back in 2001, with the release of the Armageddon campaign I really wanted to always do them, but haven't had any motivation to do so...
However...
I started collecting orks about 2 years ago when I got a spearhead for Christmas.. Ever since then what can I say? Ive been hooked on the green stuff
This is where I will be posting most of my work, some of these models are quite OTT but thats how I like my orks!
Enjoy
Boss:
I have also begun painting him:
Da warboss, Warlord Grimsnaga Ironclad, I know he cant actually take a kff, or all the weapons he has, they are just there for looks and if he ever can take the option, I guess he can have it
More soon...
Cheers

OTT is an understatement! Loving it - even if it is bordering on too much even for me Paint job is excellent too. Thanks for sharing - looking forward to seeing more of your boyz.

I would add dashes of colours to the side views in that it's a mass of metallics from either side closeup.

Great conversion and the painting is coming along.
I would add some more contrasting colors/glyphs/dags/etc. to break up the metallics in certain areas though...

Doesn't matter if he cant take those items, especially if they look awesome on him!! Nice paint job so far, i agree with the majority that he needs a splash more color but other wise great work!

That looks awsome. Think the gun is sensational, really OTT but in a great way. Think it is nicely painted as it is really. You have gone for the very sutable greasy black mekanikal look. Very fitting.

Absolutely amazing. Crazy and OTT, but in a wonderfully Orky fashion. I would LOVE to play against that.
My only complaint is the lack of color on the sides - you don't need to put in much, but maybe touch up the wires, make some of them red/blue/yellow safety stripes. Something to break up the gunmetal.

Post by: Deff
Wow, thanks for the kind responses everyone! Don't worry about the paint job on my warboss, he is still very much W.I.P so there is still plenty of painting to be done! I think an apocalypse data sheet would actually be fitting for him, it would sure be fun to use all his armaments! In other news... Heres my big mek, Lugnutz Da Looney, he originally wasn't meant to be in mega-armour, but he looked far too weedy next to the boss, so I decided, zog da rules! and you can see what happened next... Yes, he has to shokk attack guns, and they both spin and 'im wif da big boss I got started painting on him recently so expect some updates soon! cheers Deff

I like the thought that the Boss got annoyed by some mek and done some Krumpin. With a howl of triumph he rips the KFF off of the corpse and straps it on as a trophy. Although he is slightly embaressed that he doesn't have the foggiest idea of how to make it work, neverthenless he is gonna wear it any way because it makes him look important and fearsome. If any one asks why he doesn't switch it on, he's gonna say that it is weedy. . . and then Krump the asker. . . .

 'Ere we go
With WAAAGH! Grimsnaga well underway things were going well, Warlord Grimsnaga had been wreaking havok in Segmentum Ultima and they began intercepting imperial cruisers and then shutting down communication outposts. This had created one hell of a nightmare for imperial officials. The orks seemed to always be one step ahead of the Imperium. This meant the orks were able to absolutely decimated the world Dacia without much resistance. They then stripped the world of resources and then headed for the next closest Imperial world; Rigant. Luckily the orks were intercepted by The Adeptus Astartes Chapter The White Scars, where the suspected ork WAAAGH! was held off for a short period of time. Unfortunately they couldn't halt the wave that had started, and the WAAAGH! was now rumbling on, the orks had made planet-fall on the world of Rigant soon after. Thankfully unlike the world of Dacia, the 48th Tallarn tank company had dug themselves into the mineral rich, yet ash covered plains of Rigant. The orks had met heavy resistance, the Tallarns had been well prepared and had hundreds of Leman Russ Tanks at hand. As well as a dozen Super-Heavy class tanks at disposal they were well fit to hold off the orks for a lengthy period of time. If worst came the Dark Angels 5th company were available in orbit ready to provide orbital support on call. On the 9th Day of the Assault the orks had made their first major push. To counter the spearhead of tanks that were headed towards the tank line a totally of 30 Leman Russ Tanks with variants and 1 Stormsword were set up to flank the approaching vehicles.
PART 1
Big Mek Lugnutz Watched with delight. All of his kreationz were now roaring towards the enemy and he could see many of them in action for the first time. He also looked to his left through his super-optiks, and saw his small cobbled together band of tankbusta's 'eaded towards his prize. "Stoopid oomans." Lugnutz thought to himself, the day before the kommandos had intercepted the plans of the flanking tank patrol to halt the approaching ork tide. "Dey Really fink we's dat stoopid?" lugnutz thinks to himself again, he did not care for the Leman Russ tanks, they meant little to him, but the real prize was the super-eavy tank he noticed. For years Lugnutz had been eying up a super-'eavy tank he could work his magick on, but all previous attempts had failed miserably. Quite often his tankbusta's got a bit carried away with the metal behemoths, they didn't seem to know when to stop slamming tank-amma's into the iron beasts. This time was different though, the month before, Lugnutz had made special rockets to detonate on command, just in case any ork got the tank busting buzz they would meet a nasty 'bang' before any of dem could react. "Hur hur hur." The Big Mek laughed to himself, "Dis is gonna be one 'elluva interestin day."
to be continued...
I always wanted to make a skullhammer, as I love making killer centerpieces.
So, with the recent new apocalypse release, the shadowsword kit was obviously a great place to start.
I have widened the tracks and jacked up the suspension (MEGA-pain in the arse)!
But now I'm stuck, I can't figure out what to do next
*note that the gun housing isn't stuck on, just there to give you a better idea
Get the picture?
the tracks are pretty zoggin uge.
As always C & C welcome, and please, give any ideas forwards, they will be helpful

Woah. I just heard wind of this thread today, and, having read through it, have already had some inspiration from your orky creations. I love your big boss and mek, especially in their whole 'never too much' attitude. If I may, I might suggest you could, just about, build some special character rules for them off of the rules for Deff Dreads. May sound a bit silly, I'll allow, but really, what are orks if not silly? I wait in anticipation for how you build this skullhamma of yours.

I will definately make datafax's for my boss's when I get round to it, hopefully sooner than later
Not much work, but I connected the two tracks together today, I also widened the hull by 20 mm, because the massive tracks seemed to dwarf the hull.

Thanks mates
'eres anuvver update.
Progress on this is going rather slow, there's been alot of head scratching going on with me wondering what on earth to do next.
Nonetheless I still managed to settle with something, so I suppose im going for a battleship-ish type of look, lots of turret guns, small vision points and all sorts and a zogging huge turret. Something sorta like this:
so I decided to mount the gun housing onto the front of the skull'amma as I wanted it to look like it was really integrated into the tank. I also build up sections of raised armour to add to the battleship-ee feeling
I also made and painted an interior... for the ease of painting I painted it before I assembled it together.
Sorry about the bad pictures, the lighting is really bad in my room right now and I couldn't get a decent picture of the interior I made. I'll have to wait abit before I can take another photo for you guys

I'm just wondering if that extended ramp won't become an inconvenience during play as it could well be opening on top of your opponent's figures.
34905
Post by: Deff
The ramp will be magnetized when it is finished, for now blue tac does to the job
I got some pictures of the interior, sorry bout the pics, I had to use flash and therefore the colours came out all washed out.
also used an LED on a miniature for the first time:
I painted the interior beforehand so I wouldn't be a hassle when I got round to painting the whole thing.
I kept the colours to a minimum to go with the industrial look.
cheers

Cool interior, especially the led. you gonna have this 'ere skullhamma have some transport capacity, then? Call me crazy, but I personally always love to see some ingenuity of a most orky sort when it comes to adding what shpuldn't be, and in this case an assault component to a big, bad tank. But yes, excellent, and a magnet does sound a good idea.
And so, I, Kaesar II, do exalt, and say "Keep up these fine efforts"

I personally like the battlefortress-ee look, because I have been playing orks since the previous editions, the 'new' 20 troop capacity for the BW, plus the new weedy lil' plastic kit, I like my tanks nice n' solid
Just a personal preference

Nevur said dat e' couldn't take it, just dat he can't have things like SAG's or KFF's when he has mega armour equipped.
And a big mek wiffout a KFF and a SAG is going to be seriously under-armed
Well, in other news...

I finally got all the gits assembled in the mob, now all that left is basing and adding some small details, then they will be ready fer painting
The most extensively converted ork in the mob is the ex-trukk driver of the mob ~ Grugs, but unfortunately, his arms and legs were mutilated after the trukk collided head on with a rather large carnifex. Because there were no deff dreads readily available at the time the dok added some 'special' upgrades to him, and now he's sumfink a whole lot scarier
badass ork:
clueless ork:
pretty generic ork:
ork armed with a rather pointy bent pipe:
another sign post choppa:
Double chainswords:
And, the ork you best not get to close to:
group shot:
I think they look alright with each other, this mob certainly has alot of character compared to my other 'uns
but wheres the trukk I hear you cry?
well...
Ok, it isn't much, but I did get a very good deal and managed to get the whole chassis for a meager $10, but what should I do with it?
Im sort of bending towards a sort of flatbed trukk look, but then again, I wanted it to sort of fit in with the mob, any ideas?

Surely you jest! One can never have too much dakka, you silly person. And just for that, Deff, if I may say so myself, you should put on at least 5 more guns just to prove the too littleness of dakka

I'm not dead!
In-fact, got me a nice new addition from xmas to da WAAAGH!!
He is still very much WIP, I have alot of mold lines to remove and have to finish up his base before I dig into the painting...
So without further adieu, I present to you, Da Mega Dred on Da Prowl...
beakie eye view:
I have modified a few things, first and most obvious is the repositioning, I didn't like the generic static pose which was on da blooprints, so I went zog da instructions and decided to reposition accordingly! I think it looks alot better in my opinion now.
I also decided to give him 2 CCW's, mainly because I think the buzz-saw is incredibly bad-ass and I didn't really like the kannon which they made to go with him, it just seemed to out of place on the model...
I also replaced the mega shoota's with just regular 'uns because I have special plans for the mega 'uns...
Cheers, C & C is always welcome

I like this latest batch of nobz, though the first one has the whole "wtf mate?" with the shotgun on his back... even though he doesn't quite have hands... "How can you fire a shotgun... if you can't hold it?" (cue ork's arms falling off and spider robot)
