Go to a forum associated with a fantasy tournament, or go to the fantasy tournament itself?)
Every tournament doesn't have to have a 40k element. In this case, to run 40k, Chris would need: Additonal space to hold the 40k event, gaming tables, scenery, judges, and staff. Essentially, everything. He's taking over the Colonial from Matt York, and it's his first year. He's doing a good job with it, and in subsequent years he might decide to add 40k. But in his first year, just handling the transition and putting on a good fantasy touranement is a huge job in itself.
Hell, just getting my ancient orc army ready to play in it is a huge job.

Hmmmm, last actual GT I played in was the first GT that GW ran down in Baltimore.)
I'm signed up for Mechanicon in two weeks, then Conflict and Colonial next year. Blame it on Ludwig moving in with me, he's a bad influence. But mostly after running so much stuff this year out of the bunker, and getting to know so many of the guys, I just want to go spend weekends rolling dice and drinking. And Colonial has always been very good for both of those things.

Guys,
I will ask Winthrope Design to look into the issue, that is the company that is handling my IT and web site issues. If you need to send me a PM with your name, email, club, army, and where you are coming from and I will put you in the data base myself.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is a friendly reminder that we are accepting payment for the 2011 Colonial GT beginning on November 1st! If you register for the event before March 12th, your payment for the event will be $80.00, that's $10.00 off!
So please register on the web site that lets us know that you are coming. You will be able to make your payment to secure your slot for the event.
The Master List will be maintained by the Tournament Organizer, and there will be a living list (in the forum) in a thread with the subject title of "Master List."
Remember that you can only secure your slot when I receive your payment. The price for the event is $90.00 unless you pre-register and prepay before the deadline date....then it is only $80.00
I am working with Winthrop Design to place an easy to pay button or link on the Colonial site.
In the meantime, please follow the directions for payment that is listed in the general rules for the event, under the tab of "Game Play."
Do you need a hotel room for the event? See the easy link on the bottom of every page that says "Starwood Hotels and Resorts", or click on the link "Click here for your reservations." This is so you can make your reservations as you register for the event. Otherwise you may call the hotel and make your reservations over the phone, just make sure to say that you are under the group "Colonial GT."

Since Chris hasn't made the rounds yet, I'll post up this message from him.
The group running 40K averages 35-40 people for their monthly RTTs and are quite experienced folks. The terrain will be extremely well done too
Thats right folks,
40k will be included in the 2011 Colonial GT! The new allocation of slots will be 90/40 (Fantasy/40K). After March 5th, any available slots will become open to all, so 40k can grow to more than 40 slots! Please visit the website www.thecolonialgt.com, to register for the event. On the web site under the gameplay tab, you will find a section on rules. This will give you the basis on the core rules for the event, including payment information. When you pay using paypal, please note that you are playing 40k in the comments section. If you are paying via check, make sure you place 40k in the bottom left hand "for" section on the check. The final details are being worked out for the tournament packets and will be placed on the web site for your convience. 40k players, please submit the army lists to BrGrimGT@gmail.com by March 25th, failure to do so by that date will result in 10 points being deducted from your final score. Payment for the event must be paid through me, by paypal or mail, which is covered on the web site.
At this time I would like to make a huge shout out to Dave at the Brothers Grim for running this 40k section of the Colonial GT! Please support him in this endevour! I know that with your help we can make 40k a permanent part of the Colonial GT!
I would also like to give thanks to Tony Spino for providing a entry ticket to next years Mechanicon! This ticket will give you entry to his 40k tournament! GW will be making this a Indy GT qualifyer, so a Vegas ticket is there. Mike Brandt has also provided a Nova GT ticket, as well as the 40k Warstore Weekend. Dave and the Brothers Grimm will also be provididng a ticket to their GT event which is happaning next year! I will also be providing a generous amount of prize support as I always have, and am working on a grab bag for all players! There Overall Winner will also be provided a sword, as in all my events!
See all of you there!

During the Months of January and February, the GamesWorkshop Store in Echelon Village will be running The Official Colonial GT Qualifier with the goal of handing out a free ticket to the 2011 Colonial GT!
GamesWorkshop has been offered one free ticket to the 2011 Colonial GT to award to the winner of the Colonial GT Qualifier.

As all of you know,
The Colonial GT has added 40k to the Tournament. If you would like, you may submit photos of your 40k armies or figures to the slide show on the web site.
I would ask that the photos be in good taste, and unless you are doing a major scuplting job and want to show off the major work involved, that the models be fully painted.
Thank you,

The Master List is located on the forums in the General Discussions area. If you have registered for the Colonial, this does not mean that you have a secure slot for the event, you must prepay to have your name added to the Master List. Whomever prepays first will been added to the list, the date of registration will have no bearing on availability. Registration and payment before the March 12th deadline will ensure the $10.00 off the standard ticket price of $90.00.
Here are the two options of payment for the event:
"For PayPal use: thecolonialgt@gmail.com
For snail mail please send checks payable to: The Colonial GT, LLC. 492 Sycamore St. Rahway, NJ 07065."

Yes, there should be spots still available, though I know theres some folks who's names aren't on the list yet.
As for the 40K missions, we'll have a bunch of them posted so folks can try them out and give feedback. We'll then choose 5 from that lot for the actual GT.
We're typically used to 40 people for out RTTs every month (we had 42 last month) so we have some pretty awesome terrain for alot of tables.

If it isn't enough that I gave him some NOVA Open ticketage, you can quote me as endorsing Chris, especially his addition of 40k to the GT for this year ... plus plans to really intimately develop its format along the lines of some of the events lately as the years go on.

I know, I'm in the same boat. I'd planned for Colonial, and then my wife gave me my tickets, a gascard, and time off to go to Adepticon, as my Christmas present. When I get back I'll have to spend a few days and make sure the shops are back up to speed. Won't know if I'm good to go until the last minute. Hopefully nothing blows up while I'm away, and Chris has spots left.

Yeah, I know. I've always loved The Colonial, and was totally bummed to miss it last year (went the three preceding years). It's usually (historically) my most relaxing, pure-enjoyment GT of the year. I just kind of doubt that I have enough wife credit stored up.

The slots are now starting to be taken up. The new paypal button on the site is making things so much easier on everyone. Just check the master list on the forums under general discussions.

Sweet swords MM. I will definitely be there next month! I have always wanted to attend the Colonial, but now that you have 40k, I am all over it!!
I can only say good things about MM ran events. I have known MM for years and have attended quite a few of his smaller events. They have always been a good time with no shenanigans.
I would recommend to anyone who wants to attend a good 40K or Fantasy event, that you go to the Colonial.

Okay guys and gals, here are the numbers so far for prepaid players on the Master List for the event:
45 for WHFB
35 for 40K
Payment after the 12th will be reverted to the original price of $90.00. The $80.00 fee was a special that was ran until the 12th of March.
Congratulations to Brad Nichols, who won the March 12th 40k Qualifier out of the Brothers Grimm!

My name is Greg, I was the judge in the red shirt two sizes too big with the spiky hair.
Since we were never given a chance to address you all, I would like to give you all a huge thank you on behalf of Dave, Steve, Bill and myself. When our Fantasy players told us that The Colonial was mulling with the idea of hosting 40K, we jumped at the opportunity and did our best to convince Chris it was an excellent idea and to let folks who play or work at Brothers Grim run the games. Our Fantasy players always raved about the great times they had at the event, and as 40K players, we always felt left out. 40K was originally given 30 slots, which ballooned to 50 due to your wonderful response. As you could see with the amazing turnout we had, the 40K players contributed greatly to The Colonial's success. I sincerely hope you all enjoyed the event and everyone's company. In addition, I hope we met you expectations as the 40K judges.
The players should all be proud that almost everyone was someone's favorite opponent, and that speaks leagues to the great attitudes and players we had.
This was the first time folks from Brothers Grim ran a GT, and I want to thank you all again for being such an outstanding bunch.
I truly hope to see you all at The Grim Open http://www.brgrim.com/?page_id=1421 on June 18th which we will be running again.
Cheers,
Greg

Had a really good time this weekend. Came out ahead in 3 of my games, but took big losses in the other two. Definitely still learning how to run my reserve Tyranids, and the army could use a couple tweaks. Finished just in the top half, but picked up a 3rd Best Painted.
Thanks to Chris for organizing the event, to the Brothers Grim gang for running the 40K side, and to all my opponents for some great games.

I had a great time and all my oppenents were true gentlemen and very good players that taught me something in each game. While I managed to go undefeated, I also managed to not win any primaries either, with 5 draws. Thanks to Sean, Bob, Tom, Rich, and Casey for the great games. See you at Grimm.
The tourney was smooth and the venue was outstanding, kudos to the organizers.

I'm almost positive Gabe was running footdar! That'snot a joke lol.
But it was nice to see the variety of armies on top. If only some tyranids or orks had made the lsit as well.
Edit: I can get you pretty accurate lists for Dameon, Simon, myself obviously (Nick), Tom and Vincent.

I know that after my poor orks got hit by those 10 immolators, Spam was a good description of what my army was looking like - Small chunks of overcooked meat!
Orks love da' burney dance, but usually they like it better when they get to be the ones laying down the flame templates.

No pics of my orks, unsurprisingly .
Gabe was running something like this:
-Eldrad
-Avatar
-10 DA
-10 DA
-10 Guardians
-5 jetbikes
-5 jetbikes
-2 warwalkers
-fire dragons
-wave serpent
-wraithlord
Ran circles round me .

Tough painting scoring. Gabe's army scoring a 9 in painting pretty much killed 2nd place for him.
Sportsmanship did not appear to have much impact, which is nice.
