Wow the venom looks great, very creative use of bitz! Photos are pretty horrendous tho, can't see much of anything on the infantry sized ones. Take your shots in more light, and zoom out a bit and then re-crop, your camera (phone?) can't focus from the distance you are shooting.
What kind of camera are you using btw? If it is a compact, then just move back a bit, set it to macro, and zoom in a touch but not too much. It will seem like the picture is too small, but once you get it on the comp and crop it, it will be nice and sharp and more than big enough for posting on here! Tripod wouldn't hurt, but honestly just resting your hands on the table edge from further back would really do the trick!
MajorTom11: I think its a compact your right about zooming in, its been a while since I used it properly so I'm still trying to remeber the process of getting good pics
Behind th Mask: thanks man it was a pretty simple conversion to do TBH its just a case of moving the hood ford and adding the sails from the raider kit + a few bits and bobs
Hi, nice stuff you have here. The haemonculus conversion is really cool and i like your venom conversion alot, cant wait to see it painted up! keep up the good work.
venom as a base with the coclpit moved fowred a little, the ruddrs and some plasticard attatched to the sides and a Helf charriot front glued onto the back and two raider sails for the wings pluss a crap ton of spikes where needed hope that helps
I have re-worked my Venom, I still haven't spikey'ed it up yet, but tomorrow sometime I'll post mine up on my blog. It resembles yours a lot, but I changed some things up. I am pretty excited about it, now it actually looks like people could ride in it and I still won't have to bits order anything to make the other 6, just straight up Vypers and spare Raider/Ravager parts!
I am addicted to that Incubi of yours. I think that's my fav so far. Don't get me wrong, all your work is great, but one always has a soft spot for that lil' something special, and that good sir, for me, is that Incubi. Rawr.
I envy your freshness! Most of my models were bought built and painted too many years ago. Trying to start afresh but still havent bought any new models yet!
Your venom is actually brilliant. A few people have been telling me to use Vypers as the base of the model but that involves buying vypers! haha.
The Incubus is well painted and i like the solarite alot, his gun is a little strange tho. I f you want a really simple shard carbine use the holstered splinter rifles from the raider and shorten the barrel.
thanks man ^^ as I've said, shes getting a new gun soon. the origional one broke off whylst I was getting ready to take a photo so I decided to experiment a little lol
With this start you should have a VERY striking DE force. I love the venom and the scourges, beautiful. The rest look impressive as well. Keep posting the pics.
pics of the wrack now that he's painted are about to be taken. got another built with a liquifier but saddly he's head less ATM. my ancient haemonculus is "growing" some more for me so that I dont have to buy an endless amount of wych's XD
Automatically Appended Next Post: painted pics are up
and a little hint as to who will be leading them
and here's lucky the headless wrack. so called as he got a S6 AP3 template over some zerkers twice
I'm basecoating my raiders and ravager tonight if the rain stops so pics of them once their painted will be up soon if all goes well
Wow, some truly awesome models you have there. I started collecting DE a month or so before the new stuff came out and from working on the new models I was really wondering how to plan out venoms, wracks etc. Your models have given me some serious inspiration, especially the Scourges.....beautiful, love 'em!
Consider me subscribed, can't wait to see what else you come up with!
Liquifiers are strength 4. ANYWAY, i like him painted maybe a bit more shading on the rags, they look a little flat atm. The free-hand (harhar: wordplay) is amazing on the wrack head.
Perkustin: thought it was S D6 and APD6. ah well, I rolled 4+ anyway IIRC I might be adding a wash of devlin mud now that you mention it, or at least another layer of gryphone sepia
Mythrisar: sorry to hear that man gald to be of help though
Tmonster: yes indeed still working out how to do it though . most of my insperation came from the pic on P19 and the war of dark revelations so I'll have to have rackath floating a bit higher than normal and a few tau arms on my wracks lol
any idea if the rat oger sprue would work for grotesques? I was considdering the chaos spawn box but the rats have a rather nice gun for the Liquifier.
Tmonster: sure thing, I've still got a load to build so I'll be more than happy to do a how to ^^ IIRC they've been moved to third wave so its gonna be a while
tonight I'm getting my skaven warlord painted (the HPA was the warp pebble that broke the rat ogers back and those rats from IoB are too cute to ignor any longer) so I'll try to have the how to done by monday-tuesday
made little progress on the raiders today but I do have some nice freehand on the sail which I'll post once my cameras charged >_<
*brush's aside cobwebs* wow, so finally I'm back with an update. I know its been ages since I've posted anything but being lazy takes up so much of my free time lol
so, what new with my army? the truth is not much :( I've been waiting on those wych heads for ages and so with the school league a mere 9 days away I've had to improvise with my wracks heads, cue green stuff covering a bald deldar head. its not good, pretty or nice to look at and maybe a waste of GS but at least now I can get them painted in better news I've got 2 more incubi painted and my venom is almost done. enjoy
once the leagues over I'll be replacing the wracks heads with the wych ones so all will be well
thanks man ^^ I've been getting a lot of tron comments at my FLGS too XD
the wracks are made from dryads. how I did it was I cut the dryad in half then cut the feet off and pinned the stumps to the base. next I made a GS skirt by adding thin layers of GS and ripping them with a pin. next I stuck the torso back on but at a hunched angle and added a head then arms. I'll show some pics later lol
The venom is really nice. Glad to see more angled pics of it.
The wracks are lookin good too. Dont think I'd put as much time into them myself tho, Im just using old grotesques or butchered mandrakes for the time being.
Incubi lookin great too. I like your blue glowness. Nicely done. Dont think Im gonna do the whole glowing crevass thing tho. Its being done a lot now seeing as thats what GW did, but I think Im gonna keep my crevasses dark apart from the engines and gun gems and all that madness.
Hi guys, I'm back from the school league and I think its time for some updates lol
here's the army that helped the team get into 5th place and qualify for the next round and won me 2 wins and a loss (damn that cheesy guard player lol) ^^
first up, my wracks and ed the homunculus
my incubi (these guys killed 15 space wolves, 10 normal marines and a few squads of guard)
and someone to lead them into battle:
their ride got pimped too:
and their faithful chariots (which made a point of blowing as soon as anyone so much as sneezed on them )
and not forgetting the *ahem* fire support that cost a drop pod, a dready and a rhino their lives
aaaaaaand after all that here's a sneaky peek of my next SL army
Sweet DE man, I've got into them because of the new looks and thinking of maybe getting some after my marines are of duty.
Nice job with the venom as well
Tmonster: I'm gettin the last 5 built tonight, all I need is 1 more splinter cannon. I plan on using them tomorrow as I'm facing guard and theyll mop up any of the infantry units so more on to morrow.
update on the school league:
I've got most of the kabalites built (turns out I only need 15 ) so I'll start painting later in the week
2 of my raiders need the front of the disintergrator choping off and have a dark lance pinned on (this way I can swap between them) so pics on that and maybe a how to later
my other lance raider needs finishing
and I still have to build the other half of a ravager and get that painted
hopefully a (real) update tomorrow and a report on how the scorges did
gah, interweb has been down for the last week so sorry about a lack of updates.
so how did the scorges do? as you would expect light armoured bird people with big guns to perform. all of the shots make short work of annything that comes close to them and they managed to wipe out a lot of guard...however, they did die a lot as light armour isnt good against big tanks :/
so yeah, scorges are worth taking but you NEED to make good use of cover so they dont get shot. I'm facing a nid MC list soon. T6, T1 its all the same to scorges
Id love to know when theyre being released so I can decide whether to do a conversion or not myself.
What guns dyu take them with?
Automatically Appended Next Post: When I said 'the look' of scourges, I meant the stats and stuff in the codex, as they have no 'look' at the moment lol.
bad news though, from what I've been told (not mentioning any names) they're going to be coming out in packs of 3 so most likely metal I would hold off from conversions untill you find out for sure though
Ah metal models would be terrible. Why do they do it!?!?!
I dunno whether Id take them with anti infantary or anti tank. Maybe a squad of each! I hardly use fast attack at all at the moment which is wierd for a dark eldar army.
I just find the reavers die too easily, and I dont have the hellion models yet and the beasts, again, die too quickly.
Scourges are great too. Even if they do get released in metal (or forbid, a plastic kit) I tihnk a lot of peoples conversions will hold up to the "Offical" minis
