Iam working on a big ork fort. I really want to play with it and don’t want to use it as scenery. I decided to break the fort down into 3 pieces and make 3 separate “battle wagons”: The are really big so its hard to move them around on the battlefield. I decided that I don’t want to move them at all, because…. it’s a fort! So I want to fill each part/wagon with 15 lootas and shoot like hell!

The whole fort has to become a scenery with crawling grots and all sorts of things.
I want to build a kitchen, mekshop, cockpit, toilet, armory etc.

I got a plastic (toy) castle and iam covering it with all sorts of plates with bolts.

I think it looks great so far but I am not sure about the part where it is actually moving.... but i'll reserve judgement till you have completed it.

second floor got the forcefield generator (discoball thing that really spins around with blue light) at the first floor you can see the "engine" iam making. Its a big hole with a orange-led. It look like their is a fire burning in the hole.


I made a gretchin with a shovel that fill's the burning whole with "fuel" (junk).


also working on the kitchen:

Iam also making an ambulance. Its a small Ork trukk and i will use it as a painboynobbiker. Still got to place the drivergrot and dakkagungrot, and also a painboy in the back (maybe operating).




also made a small trukk with a crane. This thing will drive around on the uper floor. still got to place a grotdriver..

Looks great! Spinning parts, gates that can open. You should totally write an Apocalypse datasheet for that thing.

The ambulance is pretty cool idea too.

That's a pretty good idea and you are making a really good work, but i'm not sure about if it's good to make a 3 piece wagon. if the wagon are moving alone, the fort is not complete and the interior are vulnarable (to much!).
The gate is good, but don't reach the ground, so i think you need to fix it.

@fantasybob: Yes, I dont like to split up the different Fort parts because that looks weird. But if I want to use it for a normal 40k game then I got to make 3 battlewagons and try to make them look like one big fort if their next to each other.

Its not really a assault vehicle so i dont really want to use the gate, but i think a ork would not mind to jump from the fort gate into an enemy unit!

That is one massive and really cool project. I'm banned from building more terrain (house exploding with half finished projects) or I would so copy this. The details you are adding in are great. Love the mini crane.

Do you know that stompa poster from a white dwarf? It shows a ork toilet with a grot fighting a squiq with a plunger. Iam going to make that.

iam really tired of working with all that plastic-card and rivets. I need 45 loota's so i bought a box of them to start with. I want them ALL to look different and iam not a big fan of the whole shoulder mounted loota weapon. I made my own small conversions:

This is brilliant utterly insane! Great skills on the plasticard. Your Orks are at the height of Ork technology-Flushing Toilets. Not just a privy hole at the bottom of the fort! Daft question but why use it as 3 Battlewagons not a Battlefortress? Are you planning to add Killcannons?

I want to use it in a normal 40k game. The fort will look like one big machine with the possibility to break down in 3 separate battlewagons. I Thought about adding killcannons but i haven't got the points left. I will still magnetize the big shoota grots at the windows so that i can still remove them and add a killcannon if I want to.

made a new loota. Looks like a big dumb Nob ripped a piece of hull/weapon from a tank and made a grot shoot with it.grot still needs another arm:


I dunno what color to use for my fort but these two guys have to paint the whole damn thing! The will still be painting the right side of the fort:




Iam going to make a ork-barroom. And a good barroom need a good band: " great applause for the Krimson Monks"


Two orks will be fighting in the ork bar. One tries to draw his slugga but gets a punch in the face. Still need to give the puncher a hand with a Beermug.


Next: still working on the fort hull and got the models of my Nob biker painboy.

This is so detailed. I love the ork toilet and the grot painters; they add a lot of character to the piece.

This is going to be epic.

its one of my biggest projects and i love doing it. I really need to finisch the plating on the fort, but its just to much fun working on these ork models.

to bad i wont be painting anytime soon because i first need to finisch all this... but good things come for those who wait!

Apparently I'm late to the party... oh well, better late than never...

Some good imagination and character here. I'll have to come back and look at those Lootas when I eventually get to mine - I'm not a fan of their harness either... (and believe in converting everything...)

The grots looks amazing so far. I was really happy when I saw those new GW "curious gits" grots (or whatever they're called). The conversions are full of character. Those lootas are cool too.

I'll be keeping a close eye on dis brewer of yours. I've been figuring on making one myself, but I haven't a clear image of what I want yet. It looks very cool, so far.

I got my battleweagons on a base and when i keep them close to each other I can use the plasticard plating to make it look like their one big fort.


I made a helipad with deathkopta. I got a grot thats going to be filling up the tank with an impatient ork pilot:


I made the bar and barork an I also got the painboygrot that looks like a waiter:


Also making a drork (= drunk ork) he's got closed eyes and still needs two beermug's in his hands..


then i got to place the fighting orks and the barroom is almost finished!! still have to figure out where to place the band..


at the first floor iam also making a mekshop. mekboy will be working on all the loota weapons.

I absolutely love this!! It's amazing! I'll post some of my Kustom Orks up soon, nowhere near as good as yours though. Fairplay sir, you are godlike!

I hate the battlewagon fortress list, I've faced it with my mainly trukk based mechanised orks during an ardboyz and I got shredded by it. I've always hated the list since.

But this conversion is just too awesome to not enjoy, I can't wait to see more and hopefully it'll get painted soon, and I'm sure it's going to be stunning on the table. Every detail you've been adding is just more orky awesomeness.

working on my Fort. Still got a few plates and bolts to add but I can start painting now! Got the left wing already painted.

when the whole fort got this brown/rusty color, then iam using the hairspray and salt method with a final layer of blue! Iam short of brown/rust paint and still dont got a airbrush yet..

Its really well done and thought out. Its the most perfect battle fortress an Ork Warboss could ever want. Fungus beer for everyone! This is a beautiful piece of work.
Just a suggestion, I don't know how this would work out, but mayhaps you should add an armory off side the workshop, and also a throne room, where the bigboss can smoke his fungus cigars in peace.

New update!

I got the whole thing painted. Its blue with a few fresh looted plates in all kind of colors. Iam still working on the horizontal stripe with the checks patron (foto #2). I know it looks very "blue" but when I use hot water and a brush the whole thing will show the weathering and after that I still got to highlight and stuff..

I finished the check-patron and i still got to remove sum salt and clean up the fort. I begun with the first blue highlight (fort on the right).

I thought it said Foot of Mork in the title. The awesomeness of the Fort almost makes up for the fact it doesn't.

The most awesome thing about this is i had a castle like that (the exact same, in fact: 2 floor tiles, a gate and 2 walls) when I was about 10. I've been trying to find it for years, but I think my mum and dad threw it out :( . I love this fortress contraption. its awesome!

Okay..busy with highlights and thats a lot of work!! Will make photo's when I'm finished but it will take a while!

Also working on sum other things:

Made the computer for the controleroom with matching grot. Notice the keyboard, mouse and mug.


Also working on Big-Mek with KFF. Almost finished..


Almost finished the deathkopta thats on the landingplatform. Gave a grot a pilotcap/goggle's and he is going to tank fuel..

on the second page you got sum photo's, somewhere in the middle.. its really big!

All I can imagine for the Ork's brewing style is an Ork taking a promethium canister, opening it up, then taking a squig cutting it in half with his choppa (inside of the squig looks like if you cut a Lemon in half), and squeezing the squig into the promethium, only to bury that, forget about it, and come back 2 years later to drink it.

Its been a while but I am still working hard to finish it all for october (Dutch Grand Tournament)

Got sum paint on the warboss.. I like this model because it really stands out:



I need about six mekboyz with big shoota's and got the first one assembled..really like this models for the precision shots (orks and precision shots...doesnt really add up.. )

The KFF also comes together nicely..maybe its to big...nah,,,no such thing..

We got a new codex and Iam finishing this project for the next Dutch GT in oktober! Apart from a few details I now how my armylist is going to look like. Iam painting like crazy but i also need to build sum stuff from time to time to keep me motivated (or else I will get crazy..)

Shokk attack gun big mek.

This Shokk attack gun big mek got a nice device (deffkopta) for shooting grots. its got 3 flashing led-lights and i want to add an "energy-blob" at the end of the barrel made of transparent grots to make it look as if its shooting/teleporting grots. The transparent grots still needs to dry (see picture) but iam looking forward to the result..
