This plog is of an Elysian army I am painting with Winterdyne commission modelling.








Here is the first model of the Elysian commission, the Company Commander with Power Fist. The other four members of the squad are about halfway done. I put a tiny lump of dead foliage on the base, I think it works quite well. Maybe I will try some sun-bleached grass too.

Looks good, the metallic parts look a bit thick though, not sure if that's because of the camera though.

I just washed 10 vets with shotguns and have almost built the other half of the first drop troop squad

At first i was thinking "paint too thick and highlights to extreme". but bloody hell, seeing them as a squad is gorgeous!

Brilliant- I always think Ellysians are what imperial guard should look like as futuristic warriors.

I have 10 shotgun veterans about half way done and a unit of drop troops almost build, hope to get the vets done by Wednesday and the drop troops built and airbrushed by then too!

I like the respirator heads but they weren't in the commission brief....

I have 10 Elysians with respiratot heads. (9 actually, after someone swiped one in an Apoc game... Same thing happened to "stonetooth" Harker... Back to the topic)
If you can get your hands on some heads with respirators, you could make them play the role of Stormtroopers.

I have respirator heads in my bits box. This is a commission so I need to put the parts on the models that the client specifies Even though respirators look awesome!

I feel your pain, I've been cheating and cutting the hands off the death korps weapon packs for mine, I was hoping you had found a brilliant method but it looks like it was the hard way all round, anyway great job on the conversions they look very seamless!

Damn, I started reading hoping to find a really easy way to do this, as I got the special weapons package in and couldn't figure out how in the frack to equip em, looks like I'll have to be cutting em like I guessed.

Pretty damn impressive stuff, I'd say. I really like the way you've painted the visors, the glass definitely looks the part.

Nice, but the paint has gone on a little too thick in some places, the first guy's Imperial Aquila on his shoulder looks a bit blotchy as a result.

These are the last five elysian troops. I need to do all the transfers next! I have started on building a second venator, I will paint all three at the same time.


I have handed my Uni stuff in so now I should be pumping out a lot more models!

As for the actual thread, good job on those venators, I tried to help my friend to do one, and it was ing hard.

Are the alternative weapons magnetised or do they clip in?

I have nearly finished one Venator, there are just one or two minor adjustments to be made. Maz suggested a longer ariel earlier on today and also a lighter shade on the sandy areas. This is my first attempt at weathering and I am pretty pleased with it! Looks awesome!!

How do you seal your weathering powders?? I assume its been varnished. Every time i use powders, the varnish just dissolves them, any thoughts?

You need to mix them with a fixer (i think), I used matte varnish mixed in with the pigments, but I think a low odor thinner would be better as it will evaporate there's plenty on the net about it so it's worth having a search

Well ive been using white spirits, but it doesnt seem to work too well. I think i'll have to get a dedicated fixer. Thanks.

This is a very large re-documentation of all the elysians that have had decals and I haven't already posted. The other 2 venators are NEARLY NEARLY done and I will try and get pics in a bit or tomorrow morning!

I personally don't like the paintjob on the vehicles that much...
The detail, and everything is good, but the main green colour seems to be a bit messy or poorly drybrushed/painted...

Everything else is great though.

The second and third Venators look better than the first one, but still have the same small problem in them.

I did not drybrush them at all. I went for a nice flat base-coat which was then washed and weathered with powder pigments to look like it has been used in a desert environment. I personally am very happy with the effect.

Great stuff, Carrot! I like the gritty look on the venators.

A little bit of a rez here, but very, very, very, cool. Will definitely be using this for inspiration!

I've been struggling to get visors to look like that. Could you explain a little how you achieved the really "gleaming reflective" look? The first commander alone gives me the impression that it's 3, maybe 4 paints used in there.

Tom'll tell you for sure, but a little gloss goes a long way. ;-)

I don't think its fair that I have to go through life not owning these.
