First of all, I know how weird that title must sound to you. I thought it'd be the perfect method to gain your attention!
Just kidding, of course. The title fits, why, the models I painted.
I've been painting for about three months by now, so this is my first completed miniature. I've tried to paint some Space Marines, but that didn't work out. At all.
Luckily my boyfriend had that lovely lady called "Gayle" (made by Hasslefree) in his collection which I fell in love with when I first saw her. I asked to let me try to paint her, and... why, here she is. I didn't have any idea about basing or stuff like that, so there'll be little to admire below her feet. ;-)
Of course, he gave me a lot of advice and... I guess my experience from drawing mangas helped me a lot, too.
Here's my second lady, Isabelle - another piece from my boyfriend's collection I managed to salvage :-D
I wanted her to look different than the average elf/humie girl, so I painted her blue. No smurf jokes, please (those are reserved for the Ultramarines, says my boyfriend)!
I won't tell you too much about the story behind the miniature, you'll have to figure it out yourself. Or maybe find a "hidden" link somewhere in this thread. ;-)
Not much left to say, save for one thing. If you click on the pictures, you'll be redirected to their respective CMON pages, so if you might want to vote or leave a comment, I'd be happy. ;-)
Kind regards from Germany,
SisterofChaos

Not a fan of nude/nudish models, but those are very nicely done! You've definitely got some talent in the art department.

I didn't think about that. Yeah, you're right. Will be added in a few seconds.
Thanks a lot for your kind words!
@ chowderhead13:
Thank you! I didn't like the usual way of highlighting my boyfriend explained to me, so I tried it quite similar to colouring drawings.
@ bunnygurl:
Glad you like it anyway - I think the problem is that most painters just don't care enough about their nude girls and paint BECAUSE they're nude rather than because of their aesthetic value. And thanks a lot for the compliment!^^

Your painting is gorgeous. Bringing 2d art skills into miniature painting can lead to beautiful results as you've just proven. Would love to see what you could do with the new dark eldar models maybe kit bashed with wood elves? If you can find any Celtos models they have some lovely fairy-type girls. I guess i'm saying keep on painting.

@ Tim the Biovore:
Thanks a lot, that's the effect I wanted to achieve. As I mentioned before, I don't like the "rough" highlighting you usually get to see.
@ Wazzdig Dagga:
Thanks to you, too! My drawing experiences indeed helped me a lot here. Sadly, I'm not that much into assembling. Maybe I'dpaint something my boyfriend built, because as I am a beginner (bloody noob so to speak) I'm sure I'd have quite some trouble with fine-detailed "soft" plastic miniatures. :-(
I'll post an update some time soon, I've just completed Reaper's Drys for a local painting competition.
@ The Dreadnote:
I'll upload them this evening, as soon as college is over. Thank you!
It took me almost an hour to get the eyes right... Has been sort of a pain in the... well... rear. ^^
@ Natorum:
Always makes me glad to hear compliments like this one. ^^
Painting eyes isn't that difficult after all. I used 10/0 brush from DaVinci, so you might just need better tools. And some patience, of course.
Thank you! ;-)

The base on the 2nd mini looks really good, you should be proud of that one for sure, and nice job on the minis as well

@KingCracker
Thank you so much!
I spend a lot of time on the base, so I really appreciate your comment.
Here is my latest miniature - Drys, the Elven Dryad
Just klick on the pic if you want to vote for her on CMON.
The paintjob took me about 18 hours, but I am not really pleased with the result - the color scheme has not turned out as well as I thought it would and I messed up her left eye, so I had to sculpt some hair in order to conceal my mistake.
AND as I wanted to submit this entry to a local competition, I didn't have much time to take proper pics. The water effect was still drying, that's why it's kind of blueish.
But what bothers me most is the fact that there seems to be no story behind the miniature.
<_<
Let me know what you think about her.
C&C appreciated.

No big deal, to be honest. First, I used a layer of Noch Wassereffekte (water effects), followed by another layer of Vallejo Still Water. Take a photo while it hasn't dried yet and bang!, there you are. ;-)

Indeed, very nice highlighting on the skin. Large smooth areas have always been ruinously difficult for me to paint (one of the reasons why all my minis wear clothes ). You must have paints of inverse thickness to your patience.

must agree with this. My dad paints oil paintings of naked ladies (you can look him up on google under naked pirate girls, or Don Doe) and I have had to deal with a lot of people not being able to look pass the nudity and see the art behind it.
I really like the models you painted, great stuff. Do you plan on painting any more soon

Lol,that certainly is alot of skin.
I tend to stay well away from skin,my flesh paints are cursed.
It made a box of Daemonettes a real nightmare.
Great painting skills anyway.
I usually don't care about the nudity but I really think your paintjob really suits the models,the focus is more on the paint,not the "anatomy",which is a good thing.
Also the blue girl reminds me of Interstella 5555,except she's not blonde.

Hasslefree Miniatures sure do like their naked ladies.
Nice paintjobs, although, at the risk of sounding like a complete perv, the first model seems to be wearing a skin-tone zenshin on her lower half; her bum needs a bit more shading to really define it. I think you could probably achieve the desired effect with some inks.
There is a joke in here about washing her arse-crack, but I'm too much of a gentleman to make it.

Post by: SisterofChaos
@ Ailaros:
It takes me an awful lot of time for the skin, that's true. But it's also fun once you know how to deal with the paint... Thanks a lot!
@ Theofilos:
Glad to hear that ^^
@ Element206:
It's just like drawing a picture: big areas won't do the trick, it's the details that make it stand out. Thank you for your comment. :-)
@ depraved:
Excellent thoughts, you seem to be well acquainted with the matter. The duality of life and death is immensely complex, yet very interesting. One could spend a lifetime talking about the eternal circle of life - so it's even cooler to have people see that in your miniatures. Thanks a lot!
@ Wulfgang:
Thank you! You ain't able to paint female skin, so what? I can't paint armour for my life - don't worry, take your time, think about the matter and it'll work soon. :-)
@ Mistress of minis:
I've been drawing for about 7 years, so I've got a lot of practice with colouring and combing colours. It does help me a lot - but I think there is not such thing as a god-given talent. It's all about practice.
Thank you lots and lots for your kind words. :-)
@ Sageheart:
Sure I do! Next one will be Reaper's Alastriel.
I'm sure I have seen your dad's work in one of my school books - it was a German latin book... That's cool! ^^
Thank you!
It's a shame that some people aren't able to read between the lines - if I do a miniature, I like to include something like a story in it. A friend of mine merely commented on the great boobs of Isabelle rather than what her story might be - it's a shame, but in the end, every comment is welcome. As long as people like what I do, I'm kinda happy, be it because of the boobies or the stories.
@ Melkhiordarkblade:
Had to look up what "Interstella 5555" is, to be honest. But I always like that song - and the clip. ^^
Don't worry about painting flesh. As I said above, you need to take some time, water down your paints and carefully apply it where a natural highlight would appear.
Just have to practice a little. ;-)
And of course:
thank you!
@ Kathie von Vhoorl:
I wouldn't call them perfect, there a lot of better painters than me - but thank you anyway. There's a lot more to come, rest assured. ^^
@ Happygrunt:
Now that's a compliment I sure don't get to hear (/read) every day... You will see more, as long as you keep watching this thread. Thank you!
@ Martz560:
And one heck of a smurf. ^^
@ shingouki:
That's what I wanted to achieve - a convincing, natural skin tone. Thank you - I hope I'll be able to maintain my standard. ;-)
@ Lictor_Interdictor:
Yeah, they do. Do they produce something else? :-D
Don't worry about criticizing me - I WANT honest criticism in order to improve my skills. What good are a thousand "well done" comments without one person actually saying "you could do that particular spot better"?
I see your point (and the joke ^^) and I'll pay special attention to the next naked-butt-girl ^^
Be sure to check my thread for updates. :-)

I try to get those smooth skintones on my models, but I can always see an obvious line between the shades :(.
On a more critical note. The highlights in the hair of the Dryad could be a little brighter. The hair seems a little bit flat and that is what just about everyone told me about my models. ... push the highlight a little more than you think it should be.

Post by: SisterofChaos
@ Katie van Vhoorl:
I can hardly give you any advice. The only one being that perhaps you should thin down your paints a little more. Getting rid of all visible gaps between the layers is very hard business... :-(
Actually I thought about adding another highlight to the hair, but I wanted it to look more natural and wasn't sure if it might look a little unnatural with said highlight.
@ Xenon:
Thanks - you bet I will! ^^
There's another lady I'm currently working at. Will take a few more days...
@ Sageheart:
Thanks for the comment!
You're perfectly right, it's about both these aspects. I'm currently working on single miniatures only, as I want to gather some more experience. After all, it's merely three months since I started painting. It'll take a lot of time until I'll be completely satisfied. ^^

Thank you!
@ vleermie:
Almost perfect :-D
I've seen Germans write worse German, so never mind and don't worry.
Thanks for the kind words; but talent isn't the right word. It's about experience - and as I mentioned before, my favourite hobby is drawing manga. :-)
Wasn't that hard to achieve.
I began with a few small chunks of green stuff (micro hills, if you will), added some sand to them (and the base, of course), followed by some static grass (after painting the base and the sand, that is) and added Vallejo Still Water.
My boyfriend will soon post a step by step tutorial. If you want, I'll send you a PM. :-)

After being absent for a long time I'd like to present you my very first commission, Reaper's Alastriel. My customer wanted to use her for the Pn'P RPG "The Dark Eye". She's supposed to be an elven mage and I took the liberty to incorporate some runes on the stones, each stone carries the nordic version of one of the spell's four magic words.
It was a bit of pain to paint her, because there were some horrible mould lines.
If you wanna do me a favour and vote for her, just click on the pic.
Let me know what you think about her.

Her skin tones are incredible, and it's a very pretty model. I think, however, that you should have done something with her nails. They didn't need polish, per se, but even a natural look lighter than the fingers would have been good. Its a small quibble, but there's nothing else to complain about on this model.

Hi folks!
This is my fifth painted miniature - and the first I ever painted from GW.
Also my first attempt of doing NMM, but unfortunately it didn't come out the way I wanted it to.
And I've never done such a large base before; it was quite an effort, but I like the result.
I wanted to create the look of a ruined ancient temple, perhaps being wrecked by the wood elves themselves. The elves were here before man and will be there long after him.
Her name, Cadha, is from Scottish origins and means "from the steep place", which fits it perfectly - at least to my mind.

@ Rogan:
Yuckie. :-D
@ JimSolo:
Skin, for me, is the easiest part of the miniature, simply because I draw a lot. But that's just my opinion and experience - others might think differently.
I actually converted this one a little, took off the root on which stands and replaced it by a column. And of course the display base, too. But since I'm rather inexperienced with metal and plastic work, I usually don't do conversions or ask my boyfriend to do it.
@ infinite_array:
Damn...! He discovered man's greatest secret and ruined my evil plot :-D
Thank you, friend :-)
There will more naked girls soon (behold this sentence's ambivalence!).
@ spyguyyoda:
Maybe I'll paint her one day... But before I do, I'll have to reduce her nipples' size... That comparison to Jovovich was cruel... you know, towards the miniature. ^^
It's not that hard to paint skin; the secret to water down your paint and apply many layers, with slowly increased dark/bright colour mixtures. You start off with 100%dark and then go up to 90% bright, in about 15 steps.
Just try it - and thanks for your kind words.

Really impressive work. I don't paint as much as I used to (nor do I have the time to paint as much as I want to...) but your skills at shading and getting flesh-tones right, even for non-human colors, is amazing, and better than anything I managed when I painted nearly full-time.
One question, specifically about the blue elf on page 1... do you/did you, by chance, play any of Sony's Everquest games? Reason I ask is that the Dark Elf race from those games is blue skinned and white-haired, and just happen to be my favorite depiction of the "evil elf" trope. Regardless, that fig looks absolutely outstanding.
Your basework is incredible, too. I've never had the patience to put that much work and detail into my bases, but yours are definitely... inspiring.

@ squidhills: I'll be damned if this isn't kindest compliment I've received so far. Thanks a lot!
And don't worry about the skin - the secret is to thin the paint and *then* get rid of some of the water on the brush.And of course you've got to make a lot of small steps rather than big ones. :-)

My only suggestion is to paint the underside of the archers clothes(where his legs connect) black.

Welcome back!
That looks very nice...As much blood as it is, I think it's just shy of too much, and still within the realm of realism. Good job

Very nice job on that drow. Especially liking the paint job on the archer, the blood, and her eyes and skintone. What'd you use as a base for the strings of blood?

@ChocolateGork
Thank you!
I know he's looking pretty static,but I had to rush the base and there was no time for conversions. <_<
@Aerethan
Well, it is too late now, but I'll keep it in mind. :3
@spyguyyoda
Thank you so much, really glad you like it! <3
@ghostmaker
Thanks, I'll do my best!
@Norn King

@RutgerMan
That's why I chose it . xD

@BrainDeleted
Glad you like her! I enjoyed the paintjob. xD
@Zefig
Thanks, I put a lot of efford in painting her and that guy. And I used this tutorial for the strings: http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2009/10/tutorial-making-ugly-strings-and-stuff.html
@Viersche
Thanks, so do I. :3
@The Dwarf Wolf
Thanks for the compliment!

Wow.
Das sind erstaunlich!
You are my painting Idol!
My main army being Orkz... I have a lot of bare "skin", and green is not very difficult to make look "decent", but I don't do so well with my Dark Eldar.
I'm trying for a blue-ish tint (not too blue), but still have the pink tones, and not turn out purple... Any suggestions?

I like that dark elf a lot but the archer you used as her victim is a pretty terrible sculpt and really doesn't jive with all the detail on the elf herself. I get why you wouldn't want to use him as a regular model and doomed him to be a victim, but that model is ugly even for that purpose.
Aside from the gulf between the quality of the two models my only nitpick would be the bright blood, but how well you did on the non-traditional skin tone more than makes up for that to me. Those yellow eyes are also very cool.

Hey guys!
Long time no see.
I haven't been painting for ages, but when it came to one of my friend's birthday, I decided to paint Hasslefree's Alicia in her roleplay character's colors.
Not my best work, but at least I finished another miniature. xD

You should check out Kickstarter's toughest girls in the galaxy. If you're not just into fantasy, check 'em out. Hard-ass girls packing major heat and lookin' good doing it. Far more detail than nudes and basic clothing, too. Put your skills to the test.

I love what you've done with these minis! Although they're kind of cheesecake, I think that you've really put more depth and character into them, making them more interesting to look at and think 'hmm, I wonder what the backstory on this one is.' Keep up the good work, and I also recommend what PrehistoricUFO said. They have some really neat minis which are definitely worth looking at for you.

Splendid work - try not to get typecast though. You will run out of naked miniatures to paint.
Actually that's a point, why aren't there any naked men miniatures? someone needs to sculpt one just for completeness (starts rolling tiny tiny sausage of green stuff).
Not intending to provoke any controversy mind - just thought it would be amusing.

Holy CRAP, Lisa! That is, hands down, the best painted/converted drow mini I've ever seen. Where did it COME from?
Oh, that's amazing work. I love the way that some artists do drow, and you've captured it perfectly. (Not supermodel-y, just really predatory, with good looks as an ancillary feature.) Awesome stuff!

Thank you all for your nice feedback!
@CptJake
Thank you!
@Jehan-reznor
Thanks!
Most of them are from hasslefree or reaper.
@PrehistoricUFO
I'll check them out, thank you.
@killykavekommando
Thank you so much! *__*
I don't paint that much so there are a lot of minis on my desk waiting to be painted - but I'll have a look at some more detailed miniatures.
@Trondheim
Thanks!
@weetyskemian44
Thank you!
I actually don't focus on naked girls, I paint every mini that catches my eye in some special way. :3
Unfortunately I often lack patience while painting, that's why I don't paint that much. >_<
And... yeah, you're right. xD
@Jimsolo
Awwww, thank you so much!
Her name is Liela Mordollwen, by Reaper.
