Each year the winter months heralds a change in breakfast patterns for me. No more is the steady supply of cold milk and cereal for on these chilly mornings for I desire neither the crunch nor the cold of this staple. And so each year I turn to the warmer, heartier breakfasts that, while they take a little longer to prepare, truly meet my want of a soul-warming beginning to my day. Lately I have been dabbling with omelets, cooked breakfast sandwiches, cream of wheat, oatmeal, and grits.
Of these, I believe my favorites must be oatmeal and cream of wheat. Cream of wheat would be my favorite if I didn't get hungry twenty minutes later. The meal starts out as a thin powder and I think shortly after I finish it I feel as full as if I ate a few spoonfuls of thin powder. On the other hand, oatmeal with some brown sugar and maple syrup goes a long way in keeping me happy 'til lunch time!
So how about you? What is your breakfast of choice?

Cereal. Cereal all the time. Nommy cereal with Milk. Nommy cereal with semi-skimmed milk. Nommy cereal, preferably chocolate or fruity with semi-skimmed milk.
Occasionally I'll treat myself to the gift of the gods that is a pop-tart too.

On a day off from work I might make pancakes or waffles, with bacon or sausage on the side. Or go out for a big breakfast, like french toast w/bacon and hash browns. With milk and OJ. And maybe coffee as well. Or if I’m lazy at home on a day off I might just do up a plate white corn tortilla chips and salsa with hot sauce (no cheese), maybe followed by the aforementioned Ovaltine if I put too much hot sauce on.
I've added crepes to my repetoire, though. And I also sometimes have cereal (usually Fiber One Honey Clusters) and skim milk.

Lots of flexibility there, but I like at least one or two kinds of peppers and sometimes I even go meatless and do fajita-style veggies (and eggs, of course)

Boiled ramen not the tacky western stuff but the decent imported stuff that costs a lil more that you can pick up from any k-mart / j-mart. Preferably one with blackbean soup and some vegetables afterwards theres usually enough soup to dip a piece of toast in, my favourite breakfast for when im on the go.

I can't handle anything as soon as I get up either, but both solids and liquids, something which is exacerbated by car travel to the point where I still have to sip my first drink at around 9am after getting up at 6:30 otherwise i'd blow chunks.

My breakfast of choice would be one that takes all day. My favorite thing to do on a sunday morning is just sit around constantly munching until it's time to go to bed. So I guess my ideal breakfast is just everything in the house. But I MUST have tea with my morning meal, ALWAYS. Irish breakfast tea in the winter and iced tea in the summer.

I cannot focus if I do not eat breakfast and cereals do not stick with me so I go for hearty items like eggs, potatoes, and soy (in the form of breakfast patties or soy-chorizo). Ideally if I have enough time to cook before work I will make a breakfast burrito with egg white, chorizo and hashbrowns. With a little bit of cheese and salsa sprinkled in it is substantial enough to keep me satisfied until lunch and tastes like pure joy.

MeanGreenStompa wrote:...you can't get decent sausages or bacon in the United States for blood or money so I gave up on the dream of a full English and will just have to enjoy one on my trips back to blighty.
You can get them. You just might have to look a little harder.
For bacon look for thick cut, or canadian bacon, depending on exactly what you're looking for. You might need to visit an actual butcher shop depending on the quality of your local supermarket/s. Pretty much every supermarket has imported/ethnic foods sections, but exactly what countries/cultures are represented and what variety of items you can get depends on the quality and size of the store. Whole Foods or organic foods stores also often have better and a wider variety of meats available, though they tend to be a bit pricier. English-style sausages are available here too. Again, might need to visit a butcher or a specialty shop.
Many cities here also have European markets which import delicacies and specialty items. My city (Manchester, NH) is only ~100k people and I can think of at least three European markets where I can get specialty cheeses, meats, candy, etc. And we've also got asian markets, middle-eastern markets, and more central/south American markets than I can count. Your new bride might not know off the top of her head where to easily find what you want, but it's almost certainly available if you look.
