Hi folks!
Tought I'd present you my finished works in an extra thread.
I'll start off with my personal favourite, Captain Hodenkinn:
And here's Reaper's Drys.
I painted her for a local competition - although I fear I won't stand a chance against a certain SisterofChaos. :-(
But I hope you'll like that God of War-Kratos-style tattoo anyway. :-)
Hope you like the stuff - more to come soon.
Why, as soon as I find the right bases for my army.
@ Fafnir: Yeah, I've had issues with the nails, too. But I couldn't think of any other colour fitting it more. If only these were claws rather than fingers with nails, that would've made it a lot easier...
Thanks a lot for your comment. :-)
Very well painted. I'm not sure I approve of her lack of clothing however...Don't want the honourable captain up there getting tempted... Good stuff, I like the straps on the back of the storm shield. The face is painted very well also.
Awesome looking captain! The face is well done with great detail. The golds look absolutely awesome. Did you paint on the Ultramarine icon or use a decal?
@ Morathi's Darkest Sin:
And what a lovely Drow she'd be!
Deadly, naked and pretty. The only thing she lacks (beside the obvious nipples, that is) are feet. Oo
Thanks a lot ^^
@ Imperial Monkey:
Now that's an interesting nickname ^^
How did you come up with that? Wanted to ask before, but I felt hijacking other people's thread to ask such a question would be considered rude.
My thanks, and I don't think she'll manage to seduce Mr. Captain. You know, he's really into fighting and stuff, and not so much into passing on his gene-seed. ^^
Concerning the straps: that's one thing I absolutely wanted to include in this miniature. As a live roleplayer, I'm simply used to have straps on shields, and anything else looks just weird. Even in the 41st millenium, shields are heavy and surely can't float ^^
And the face took me almost an eternity to paint - but I think it was worth the time.
@ AresX8:
Thank you!
It's a freehand, I don't remember any decals to have ever not been torn apart by my clumsy hands. :-D
What really surprises me is that you actually liked the gold! Most people tell me this is the part I've messed up the most - due to its lacking highlights and depth.
Thanks again!
Y'know I'm not sure how I came up with the nickname. It just came to me when I signed up. I was very into guard at the time and I just thought of "monkey" in place of "lackey" so Imperial Monkey" replaced "Imperial Lackey".
It has a ring to it that I rather like. Just a moment of genius. I just hope I have it again tomorrow and every other exam this year...
Definitely worth the time, it looks great!
@ kevlar'o:
Language, my friend :-D
Just kidding. Thanks a lot!
@ Imperial Monkey:
It's a little late for that now, but still I wish you good luck (or rather I would have wished you good luck) - hope it somewhat helped.
And thanks again. :-)
@ Natorum:
Thank you!
The face is something I like a lot, too. My latest miniature (a scout) rather has a messed-up face... Kinda smooth, isn't it?
Hi folks!
Time for an update.
First, I'd like to "show off" with a Heavy Bolter marine.
He's been given the name "Severus" because there generally seems to be an abundance of Severi in the Imperium - which means that no army is complete without a Severus. :-)
In case that you'd like to vote for this chap on CMON, just click on the link - it ought to become active soon.
Second, I've been thinking about painting an Imperial Guard army at my girlfriend's. Got a lot of "spare" models and thought I could spend my time at her place better than with talking about unicorns and how much I like roses and stuff. ^^
They're going to be called "Moorsoldaten von x", mainly due to the fact that I have no idea what name their homeworld will get. "Moorsoldaten" is a reference to... Wow. Just looked it up on Wikipedia and think that I should... consider giving them a different name, like "Moorratten", "moor rats".
Why, the most important thing is what you guys think about the paint scheme. I'm not sure yet... wanted to keep them as civilian as possible, while still having a somewhat unique look. And yes, they wear Dockers. ^^
@ Imperial Monkey:
Might be part of their fluff - as soon as I have some. As of now, I can only tell that they are from a swamp-covered world and fight rather gangwise than in organized platoons and companies. My Sumpfratten ("swamp rats") will mainly consist of light infantery, little tanks (save for some artillery) a flyer or two and a bunch of sentinels. But it'll take me a while to get that far. Next up will be a soldier with a GL and a sniper (which may not necessarily be used as such - a lasgun is a lasgun is a lasgun, even with a longer barrel ^^).
@ tom_gledhill7:
Thanks a lot!
Took me quite a while to complete the good sir. ^^
Here's my army - or rather what I have so far. Time to get away from regular marines and do something different. Next up: Landspeeder and Assault squad!
@ Jordankeeps:
Thanks a lot, but to be honest, I'm not so sure about the guardsman any more. I think I might need to build an antagonist to my ultras... Something chaos-y.
@ Theofilos:
Thanks, I hope!
So... what's the matter with this "pff" sound? Hope this doesn't express disagreement oO
@ Enzephalon:
Na klar - was ist denn das Problem mit "Hodenkinn"? Meine Freundin hat ihn so getauft.
Vielleicht ein wenig unglücklich gewählt, aber... was soll's ^^
Sure, what's wrong with "Hodenkinn"? My girlfriend gave that name to him.
Perhaps it's somewhat unfortunate, but... whatever ^^
@ Mit Gas:
It's a great name, isn't it? ^^
His actual name will be "Valerian Gratus", named after my favourite terminator veteran sergeant from Chaos Gate.
I took the time to write some fluff for them myself, but I'd have to translate it before I may upload it here. Y'know, it's somewhat impolite to post things only a small amount of people can understand, isn't it? ^^

Chaos Gate war einfach nur genial, sogar die vorgeschlagenen Namen waren nett. Mein Liebling hieß Horus. Recht unpassend für nen loyalen Ultramarine.
@ all: thanks for your kind words - doing my best here ;-)
So here's the latest addition to my army; terminator sergeant Carinus.
Seems that I won't give my lads snow bases - they ruined some of my stuff, so... no chance. If somebody's interested, I could post a pic of those damages later on. :-)
Wow great army! I love the heavy bolter marine, great work on him. The terminator sergeant is amazing too. I really want to see more! Keep them coming!
He is brilliantly painted. I just feel that he is too blue...I think he needs some other colour added, white may complement it, whatever, it just needs more colour...
@ EmperorsChampion:
Thank you ;-)
Took me a while to get it that far - seems that I am the slowest painter in my town.
@ ImperialMonkey:
Thanks a lot!
Too blue? How's that possible? It's an Ultramarine after all ^^
But perhaps you're right. Looking at it from the back, it really is quite blue. However, I'm not sure how to change that without making the model somewhat too busy.
And here I present you Brother Methellon of the Warp Knights - painted for a duel with another user from my "home" community.
Hope you like 'em - C&C appreciated, as always.
Blacklining it would be a possibility; although I actually don't want to change it after posting it as my duel entry.
... But only time will tell, so maybe you'll see an updated version soon.
Aye, you're right. The head is awful; though in reality it seems to look much better. Far from good, still, but at least somewhat nicer.
@ Enslaviour:
I've tried that before, and for some strange reason it didn't work at all oO
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Aaaand another Ultramarine; painted for a duel with a friend of mine. Hope you like 'em, and sorry for the picture quality.
/e: had to switch the first picture for a better one.
Thats some fine work you got there mate.
I love that you have such detailed bases. Really improves the overall look of the model.
Something that many people tend to forget, that the base really makes alot of difference.
Your Ultramarines are nicely done. I especially like your interpretation of Severus. The Kratos inspired dryad is pretty cool as well. Not sure what she's doing to that tree though I'm pretty sure it's not appropriate. ; )
@ Vash:
Thank you!
About the bases... Well, compared to my other marines, these are top-notch, that's for sure. But I'd consider them hardly above average, as they're just bird sand mixed with GW modelling sand - with the biggest chunks of rubble painted.
@ Astroman:
Thanks!
Inappropriate? Why, perhaps you're right. After all, she's an elven dryad, and you know what they say about elves and trees... :-D
Rogan wrote:@ Jordankeeps:

If you go the Chaos route - you may want to look into the Word Bearers. If you get the new plastic venerable Dread its got several battles on the shoulder and face plate that mention their battles. Calth, Maccragge, et al. On top of that you have tons of conversion options with them - half marine half demon, etc. Its pricey but you could do several possessed marines mixed in with the normal marines (something akin to mark of the wulfen) and kit bashing with those bits is awesome!
@ boyd:
Thanks for the advice - but I think I'm going to do Night Lords. The biggest problem there will be that it's going to be blue vs blue; but to my mind, these offer the greatest converting potential. But I'll keep the ven Dread thing in mind, and I'll try to give it as Night-Lordy a look as possible.
Again, you have put up some amazing work. I like the GK, the only thing that bothers me is maybe his eyes would fix the white helmet if they were dark...I dunno, thats just me thinking out loud.
The assault marine, freaking great work! I love the kit bash on this guy, FW parts and everything. Not to mention the PF from the captain model.
@Skartooth:
Thank you! But it isn't that much work, really. Just a small blob of GS molded into form and poked into with brass ferns. And then painted, obviously.
And the face detail is actually minor - I'll post a few WIP pics in a minute.
/e: Here they are.
Power Fist
The head.
The only detail I've changed is the service studs; instead of those, there's an aquila on his forehead.
/end of edit
@ EmperorsChampion:
Thanks again ;-)
Feel free to comment about him; he was something of an experiment (perhaps one gone wrong), so I won't take any offence here. It's not as if I were using a fixed recipe or something ^^
You'll get to see more, I promise that.
That was my intention - use as many different parts as possible. I read in the codex that suits of PA rarely consist of parts of only one variant, so I wanted to get away from that all-mk-VII-look the regular assault squad box features.
Yuck! A double post - I feel awful. So at least I'd like to present you the latest addition to my future ever-growing army of tyranids. They're on their way (from outside the galaxy, so it'll take some time).
This guy was rather speedpainted (8 hours - considering that I'm a slooooooow painter and this model is about 2x the size of a terminator, it's been painted incredibly fast) and I finally used white primer. ^^
Call the commissars! He has wettened himself! That's cowardice!
Thank you. If I can find the little fellow, I will. It's lost somewhere in this beautiful chaos of mine...
@ Scarecrow456:
Thank you ^^
Coming up next is a big mutie with a sad story. Unfortunately, I am not able to translate it into proper English, for then it might lose too much of its flair.
@ Kepora:
What's so bad about Ultramarines? They do look great, don't they? :-P
But thanks a lot, anyway. I liked your fox lady, too - although miniature nipples tend to look somewhat unattractive. A shame. :-(
Woah!
Long time no see, I guess...
Well, here's my latest stuff:
A few Chaos Marines
Spoiler:
And a whole lotta Guard pics (6 men so far ^^):
Spoiler:
Sarge
Heavy Weapons
Private cigarette (and by "cigarette" I refer to his cigarette!)
Private Stranger - who actually was the first of these miniatures I did and inspired me to continue. His name is inspired from Heinlein's "Stranger In a Strange Land".
Private Kneel here
And a group shot.
Currently working on:
4 more Guardsmen, one of them with a grenade launcher.
4 more Chaos Marines, including the Champion.
2 more Ultramarine Terminators - including an AssCan. :-D
@gman1401:
:-D
Thanks, man!
I wanted them to be different to all the other shiny and colourful guardsmen out there - and I can't paint camouflage for my life ^^
@ GamingKeefer:
Sure.
For Drys' base I used a mixture of baking soda and GW's PVA glue somewhere around 60/40, a little bit of water and a drop of Skull White. :-)
The result should be somewhat snot-like; if it tends to drop from your tools, it's too moist.
@ Tortured-Robot:
The gloves? Why, thank you ^^
I didn't consider the gloves to be anything but a makeshift solution... You know, it's hardly been much work.

Oh, by the way, I finished another Space Marine.
This is Honoratus Zenas, which is the equivalent of a sergeant in the chapter of the Brothers of Salvation.
Painted this one for a duel, and really do hope you like him. If you do, just click the image and vote on CMON. :-)
@ Elmir:
Thank you!
I actually did a tutorial already, but I guess this one could do with an update, too.
@ Joske De Veteraan:
Painting greys... well, let's say they're quite easy to do and have a range of colours you can actually match together. As opposed to reds. ^^
Thank you, friend!
Hi folks, another piece I completed today.
Hope you like 'em!
Sculpted the hands and the wounds myself. Was quite an effort and sure isn't perfect, but I assume it's the best greenstuffing I did so far.
C&C greatly appreciated!
Wow, that's a true personification of Chaos. His almost nonchalant expression as he's ripping a poor man's head from his body, I don't think I've seen a better Chaos model ever! :O
@ Imperial Monkey: Yeah, you're right - but I swear this is due to the camera - such a great picture quality and it turns the faces into pulp... I'll take a shot with Old Faithful next sunday.
Meanwhile I present to you (each and everyone who cares to read this topic ) the fifth and last of my terminator squad. Hope you like 'em. ^^
This time, the purity seals even have something like a meaning - if read in the right order, they spell the word "Mozes", a friend of mine whom I promised to include his name in my army.
Here are all five letters more or less properly aligned:
Also, good news concerning the bases: another friend of mine and I have agreed to do a battle of the bases, meaning I will give my entire army bases soon. Looking forward? Well, I'm not, to be honest - this is going to be an awful lot of work and even danger xD
Wow, lots to post here. First off, I'd like to present you the latest addition to my Deathwatch project - a Black Templar named "Valbrecht".
Two more to go!
Secondly, a new beginning!
To be precisely, the beginning of Terminator squad Secundus - Thunder Hammers and Lightning Claws (which is way cooler than in German, since we call them "Energiehämmer" and "Energieklauen" - both a plural forms, hence the umlaut, which literally translate into "Power hammers" and "power claws")!
Valbrecht looks awesome! I love the green, it really contrsts with the black and white and silver to give him a glowy effect. Where is that power sword arm from anyway? It looks almost necron, but I'm sure it's from some SM kit.
Hi guys! This is the latest addition to my army, a Predator Destructor (which reminds me of a little mistake in the German Codex - they now call the Destructor "Annihilator" and vice versa) named "Virtus", after one of the Roman Virtues (Virtus, Dignitas, Pietas, Auctoritas). The commander's called Aurelius and will be a counts-as Chronus - if I feel like running a list with Chronus, that is. I imagined Aurelias like something between a Space Marine and a football coach - always shouting something like "get them, boys!" or "I asked for your best, not just a mere attempt! Do it, don't just dream of it!"
I'll finish a Chronus infantry model some day soon; first, I'll have to do my Deathwatch squad and four more CC terminators.
Apologies for the terrible picture quality - I'm at my girlfriend's place atm and neither have my lightbox nor proper lighting available...
@ Xenocidial Maniac:
Thanks a lot - and to be honest, I kinda feel the same way
@ Zinderneuf:
Sure you do - you didn't have to paint her. After painting her, I knew why there's the "pain" in it Thank you
@ Viersche:
Great to hear that, thanks. Really can't get enough of that ^^
@ TheAngrySquig:
Thanks - well, a Space Marine can live hundreds of years. He sure is old, but I don't think it matters that much when all that ages is your face
@ Bonde:
Thank you! Exactly what I wanted to achieve. By keeping the main colours as simple and monochrome as possible, details stand out much more.
@ AtariAssasin:
Partially right. The facial hair was done with GS, the hair itself is part of the BA head I used.
--------------------------------------------
Time to show some more stuff!
Spoiler:
I'll start with a close-up shot of Chronus, to prove once and for all he's not suffering from albinism
Next an undead champion which I'll either use for PnP or as part of an undead army (there's tons of these waiting to be painted...). This was kind of a speedpaint, as I definitely didn't want to take 4-5 hours for each of 'em.
Next, a Space Marine Veteran I painted for a friend (that means, in exchange for a miniature painted by him - which I will not post here, since people (including myself ) tend to be too lazy to read descriptions and might confuse it with one of my own).
The name's Alegorius. And I know I messed up the helmet... my friend was happy with it, though. And that's what counts
Last, Donna von Ferdok, my girlfriend's RPG character. It's really funny how close the Reaper model fits her appearance in LARP - it's just a matter of colours.
I was so angry when I saw the pictures - although I tried to paint the face with new colours, I've messed the face up big time. It's not bad when you see it "in person", but photos reveal a lot of mistakes one wouldn't notice at first glance.
Also, as usual with Reaper miniatures, there are some spots I simply couldn't reach. Hell.
Okay, guys - took a loooong break from painting, as it seems. Had to do an internship (is that the right term?) in a school - had a lot of fun, but hardly any time for painting.
Well, here's the new stuff, starting with two devastators:
This is Brother Titus. Have an educated guess where his pose and name came from
And I also found my oldest painted miniatures - painted some before that, but unfortunately, I sold them looong ago.
@ Imperial Monkey:
Hope? What for?
Being saved by superhuman heroes?
Exterminating heresy and treachery? ^^
@ DjinsK:
Thanks a lot - so you didn't play Space Marine? Captain Titus is the protagonist in that game, and that's where I got the inspiration from. Brother Titus is holding his gun the same way Captain Titus does when he's running ^^
The picture you see here is the smaller one; for the bigger one just click the link below it. I just thought posting a pic that's 900 px wide isn't nice to most internet connections...
And lest I forget - here's the Latin text on the parchment and also an attempt at translating it into English:
"Imperator Pater Dominusque noster
In nomine tuo semper pugnabimus
cum legionibus proditoribus"
-> "Emperor, our father and lord,
in your name we will always fight
the traitor legions".
He is absolutely stunning! My one comment would be that I think the skull helmet and parchment need to have slighty different colourings. They seem too similar there...
Pretty much everything here is thoroughly awesome, but I'm particularly impressed by some of the detail on that Chaplain. The stained glass looks great, and the text on the hanging parchment... Damn, I'm getting cramps in my hand just thinking about how you'd do that. Excellent.
I don't know if it was your intention to put Chuck Liddell in power armour when you made that DW White Scar, but he looks awesome regardless. The effect on the power sword is really good.
This - or something very much akin to that - will be my "shiny" new Nurgle lord's personal motto.
He's not finished yet, as you might have guessed, and will have his base in a few days; a deadly and yet life-birthing swamp. Also, I'll take some (hopefully) much better pictures on saturday.
I wanted a very calm pose and, if possible, an air of tranquility for him; he's supposed to look like he's experienced everything at least once (including death itself) and regards the battlefield - or maybe a rotten piece of nature or landscape - with the wisdom of ages (aeons?). Bringing death is his destiny; seeing (new) life flourish his joy.
He's not a tragic character, because he enjoys both. I want him to be a benevolent and grandfatherly fatalist.
"Do not defy death - mors certa, hora incerta".
Hope you like him and that the amount of converting and gs'ing is obvious
Great minis! Some really gorgeous green stuff and paintwork.
Strictly speaking, though, there being a number of unfinished bases in here disqualifies the thread from Showcase. I'm moving to P&M Blogs for now; if you'd prefer general P&M, alert a mod and we'll move it.
The first bunch of termagants painted for a competition with a friend of mine - the goal is for each of us to paint up an entire army of 1000 points of tyranids.
So far, so good! 15 more gaunts to go, as well as 3 warriors, 1 Tyrant, 1 Carnifex, 1 Zoantrophe, 10 Genestealers.
