The greatest show in Heaven, Hell or Earth.
You've got to see the show, it's a dynamo.
You've got to see the show, it's rock and roll ....
First of all thanks to everyone who has followed all the separate blogs over the past couple of months, I appreciate the time reading them and commenting on them.
Secondly there is a very simple reason why I am doing this - that is folding all the blogs and future ideas into one Mega Blog. I have a short attention span, not much time and lots of different projects.
Thirdly. Here is what you can expect; There will be Sigmarite Space Marines. There will be Halflings. There will be the Imperial 36th Regiment of Foot. There will be modeling. And, because I now have over 1000 miniatures in need of painting - there will be painting. I will paint and model everything to the best of my ability. There will be dip. There will be white paint and black paint.
There will also be Orks of both variety, some Chaos, Praetorians (assuming the company finally deliver). There will be Fimir, and men of Albion. Oh. Tau will appear. There will Bloodbowl and Necromunda too. There will be Empire. There will be a Dragon. There will also be a cavetroll. There will be Air Cavalry. There will also be scratchbuilding.
To those of you who don't know my backstory - I'd be grateful if you could read the Sigmar blog as that contains all you need to know. My gaming budget is 25 pound - I spent 75 over Xmas (and switched a LP player for some awesome stuff). I've spent 20 years slowly amassing miniature at cut-my-own-throat prices and it is time to give these guys what they deserve.
Anyway. Let the great adventure begin. This is a seriously long term project; probably 2 years work (same amount of time I have left in the Philippines).
I intend to play games too.
Ps. There will also be Ninjas and Pyschohalflings.
Pps. Ah yes...and SOB
Automatically Appended Next Post: So. Very brief thing on what to expect tomorrow. I have completed 2 for the 36th. A Rifleman Harris, and a Flamer. Tonight I might do a Rifleman Hagman, or a Gunnery Sgt Harper. Pictures to follow.
So. These are the very first pics of the 36th Imperial Foot Regiment aka 'The Saucy Greens'. Redcoats with Green Facings. Let me know any comment/criticism because I have 68 more to make.
Tonight if I get the chance I will do some painting. I was trying to do a Sgt. Major Harper with a Autogun - but the metal autogun snapped in my clumsy hands. So I will need to fix that. Any ideas what other weapon I could use for Harper? I think a HBolter would look silly bearing in mind that the lasguns are pushing the realism boundary. Their made of a super light weight alloy honest!
Anyway. A lot of my stuff will arrive from home in late Feb, so between now and then I need to crack on with the Sigmarites, Halflings, and 36th.
Yeah I think the lasguns are big enough on those models as it is, even the flamer is getting pretty big, they may need to be cut down a bit to save from looking too ungainly, I like the idea though, the sharpe books are great havn't had a chance to watch the tv shows yet.
Maybe a shotgun for harper? it fits rule wise in a vet squad and can be a modeled with a lasgun stock and a couple of bits of plastic tube.
awww they've got such tiny feet compared to the citadel stuff. Otherwise scale is not bad. looking forward to the application of some of these new paints. Makes all the difference.
And blackhand - everyone should watch sharpe - It has adventure, humour, bawdy wenches, romance and men from the ranks sticking it to posh officer types. And the battle scenes are realisticly done
big speach man^^, and a good one to start^^
i will be following this very closley as i am also a fan of the sharp tv show...
been a long time...
the autogun i am not really sold on, is it still possible to turn the tube 180 ° around? then it would probably look a bit better...to me^^
the chainsword is probably my biggest^^ issue with the squad so far. it is ridiculus big and no mere mortal could lift that...i would suggest go with a victrix saber and put a cable to the backpack and it will look good to go.
have you considered adding SM or other shoulderpads to get the heads better fit with the scale of the models?
your sweet william as for my part a bit bigger head... to my surprise harris looks just fine...so i don´t know what to say^^
have fun modeling all your models and i will cross fingers for a quick arrive of the praetorians from wargames factory...

My god man, you are a genius. I can think of no better way of spending my day off sick.
Cool stuff Manoky nok , i am thoroughly engrossed in sharp at the moment , i bought myself the box set for crimbo , and i am just loving the magnificent john tams vocals as well , especially his more receant stuff, very melancholic!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLLaGI1CGAY
loving your sweet william and looking forward to seeing his horse hair mop top, but you surely must do Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill the best baddy ever to grace a tv screen !
@ Vik! You are right about the head and the chainsword. I am tempted to keep them though just to signify that they aren't mere mortals - they are Chosen (by the Emperor) Men! Have you seen Sharpe? The other non characters though will take your advice......how is your Airship coming along? Oh. Wargames Factory...you know these things happen...but after several FB posts I finally got a email last night. Horay. Might actually see those models one day.
@ MissDee! Cheers!
@ Fifty. I have just watched the entire boxed set in the last week - did not help with my Jetlag.
@ Neil. Have you seen the Waterloo episode? Sad emotions. Oh and Hakeswill! Great idea...and I have the perfect thing in mind!
@ Weety. True don't know how to increase size though....and soon. They should be here by the end of next month...takes 6 weeks for box. Same with dip. And model reinforcements.

you seem to have posted twice. That greenstuff is looking really good- and as for the scale issue I wouldn't worry to much - sometimes if a gun looks to big you can pare it down or shorten it but I dont think there is anyway of doing that with a plasma pistol or chainsword! And he looks pretty cool anyway. Very very characterful. Where's sharpe?
Automatically Appended Next Post: actully I tell a lie you could shorten the chainsword.
at first i took a look at the praetorian reaper mini and thought again to big weapons, but then it dawned on me that painted the plasma gun will actually look quite stunning in a very manly way! so nice choice there, and the chainsword doesn´t look for me to big.
and yeppers, saw quite plenty of the sharpe series and then some films or a bit confused about that all in all as german telly does something fierce to british stuff once they get themselves to air these stuff... so it could be the series i´ve seen or rtather mashed together episodes to a fimlength.... too long ago to figure that out in a hurry... but i will have a look tehse days into that by a certain webpage i know off^^... dvds too pricey for me now... need the money on the minis^^
your harris looks outstanding now, really like the hat^^ thats so much character...
seems from what i see napoleonic and praetorian minis really get a big show these days on dakka...there is at least half a dozen threads up now... by the way i do them now meself^^ and all are welcome on party too^^ (sorry for the shameless add here^^)
one question, ruleswise what good does shotguns do compared to lasguns? are they any good or do they count as ccw?
haven´t read about that yet...
and one thing further now, i have to say that here as no one mentioned before: you do really good hair... care to share? that would be a good thing to do for me in a first GS attempt...
A bit OT but while we are speaking about episodic films containing Sean Bean....I have seen a promo shot of the new TV series based on George RR Martin's "Game of Thrones" books, and guess who's in it......
Weety! You are right...they are a little oversized. The ones I am doing at the moment are the Character/Heroic Figures...so I am ok with them being superhuman. The average IG Joe (see what I did there?) will have pared down weapons. Sharpe is on his way...I have a good idea for him, but I need a bit, which is currently somewhere in a box, which is on a boat, which is god knows where. Presumably and hopefully on the water.
Vik! I had a look you can get Hanoverian from Perry http://www.perry-miniatures.com/index2.html but I would not be surprised if Victrix did Prussian soon. I don't know what part of Germany you are from, so hope I'm not causing offense there. Actually all these models are my first serious attempts at GS. The only GS I had done before was filling in gaps. I am actually not sure if I am using the stuff the right way to be honest. It is very sticky - so I super glue a small dollop in the general area that I want, that way it is more attracted to the glue than to me and it is much easier to mold. You obviously need to be certain of your time and what you want to do. Then I use these very cheap (80 peso/ 1 euro1 pound) engraving tools i picked up to shape it. They have 8 different heads and using those I shaped the hair then sort of poked and pulled at it to give it a frizzy look. When I do Sharpe I'll use a similar method I think, and will take pics! Hope that makes sense!
Blackhand! Sean Bean is never off topic! Yes the books are great - show looks great too! Single concern - except from the rampant nipple tweaking in the books - is that Grrr Martin is a fairly large fellow who is quite old, and has no time management - Steven Erikson (great series of books - weird but good) finished 10 books in 10 years, where as GRRM hasn't even finished the Second half of the book he said was complete 8 years ago. With at least 3 books left in the series I think HBO will be finishing it for him. They bought the rights for all 7 (now 8 books) and have already greenlit season 2.Its out in April.
First of all. What do you guys think of the Air Cavalry. Seen as I have lost all my roughriders and IG beastman (goddddddddddddddddddddddddddddamit! expletive deleted) I am thinking of using the metal steeds with these napoleonic riders...what do you think?
So. Obidiah Hakeswill (suggestion of neil101) might need some explanation. Basically. He was hung. Hence the noose. But didn't die. He is a thief and buried his ill gotten gains. Hence the shovel on his backpack and package at his feet. He has the sergeants spear thingy. And he was killed by firing squad hence his bullet ridden boddy.
Question. Should Sharpe be a heroic officer or a Commisar? Or a count as? Please advise...I need to work out how to play IG...I've never done that. Need to come up with a army list....suggestion would be great!
the last pic is full of...win-e...er beer?
there is no offence that youu could do as there is only one gemran country left^^ and if it counts for something i am from berlin, capital city has been will always stay so^^ even if it wasn´t^^
well not that i apüreciate the perry minis you linked, but have i missed a thing as to why you pointed them out? there really nice and look as if they could fit in the line of fatasy empire musketeers...hmm on second though...nah one day i wanted to go for the highlander from victrix...
the hint with the super glue to get a first spot of true stickyness to the mini is a really good one and i haven´t read that in all those tuts i read so far...! so this will be a handy tip.
haekswill looks real nice, is he still acting as a soldier or only as casulty in the sense of objectmarker?
as for sharp, and for my part all of his cronies^^ i would use them as conscripts like the last chancers or something depending to current codex (which i doen´t own atm), as here i think you have the biggest range of weaponmixup, correct me alll if i am wrong, i am here to learn and shamelassly use it then for me own army^^
great stuff, besides the ?ogryn body? looks brutal^^ in a good way. and i say totaly go for the airsteeds, when your mixing napoleonic minis with 40k minis there is no stopping with lost archeotech....^^
on a sidenote, as i read he his hung i thought...well you meant well endowed...oh me dirty mind...
Wow great update matey they really are flying out of your studio now! The Air cav ......words cannot describe how jealous iam am of that idea and those bikes!! they look absolutley awesome mate! i would suggest adding lancers for them though if you can ! although plastic perry cav seem to not come with many ! maybe the cival war or war of the roses boxsets might have them?
Obidiah ....Thank you .. for gracing us with such a wonderfull baddy and he is getting his just deserves as well , the lord is just ! , nice touch with the noose, really great work matey , cant wait to see whats next!
Neil101! When my box o stuff arrives I'll show you the whole air cavalry! Yes lances would look awesome. Will need to make some some how. Toothpicks? Glad you like Obidiah. Just needs a little green stuff on the speer/hand.
weety! Thanks. I have this image of Captain Braveheart in my head. A 80 western/sci fi cartoon. I'd love to do a us civil war era army next...but only when i have finished everything that I am working on...and played with them - so that is likely no to happen this decade!
Vik! Beer!! San Mig Super Dry to be precise in a beer cooler! I think you get the link to the perry minis now...there are so many blogs to check each day it is getting confusing! I just had 19 emails about Weetys...and I think 24 about yours! Oh and loads on Neils too but under different names! I don't own the codex either...yes true on the archotech! Er you lost me on the hung! Haha...
Miss Dee who is Cpt Jack Harkness?
Anyway...tonight I want to finish working on my Ogryns....I started 2 others last night...and start work on some Arbites. Tomorrow morning I have 3 hrs of painting scheduled. I need to be doing that everyday really! Oh well. For whom the bell tolls!
lol bravestarr is one hero of a lifetime away in the past...lol and it should stay that way....back in those days tv shows had a social message after the episode... louged my ass of most of the times even then as a school kid....
Captain Jack Harkness is cool, and even from a straight man view a nice view altogether...
lost you on the hung...hope not for your own good...end trasmission from the gutter...
Really quick post as the internet is intermittent and I want to get these pics up asap! Worked late into the night - but didn't do anything this morning as was finishing the penultimate book in the Black Company Series (a awesome series!)...didn't do any painting. Busy week ahead so production will ramp down, but painting might pick up. Admitedly I am waiting for my new paints.
Whatcha think?
With the Heroic Officer (can you guss who it is yet?) I wanted a Ork glyph - is that the same heroic officer who take the glyph at talegera...but I had a eagle to hand so that suits. He also has his big fudgeoff cavalry power sword, his telescopes with a incantation from Lord Solar Macheros or however you spell it. Its is a early version of Sharpe. All i have left to do from that group is a Perkins and a Hagman and the 2 other guys who disappeared in about the 5th episode. Was looking at victrix yesteray and I have a cunning plan for another Napleonic...but that will have to be after everything else.
Sentinels...what do you think? I can do four like that...provost...again I can do four...
Ogryns...my skill with GS are improving and the latest shoulder pad, which I did a close up of was made from one piece in a matter of seconds. Very pleased with it.
shoulders look good, on one ogryn tho the one part looks like a bread roll...
the other shoulders with eupoletes(?) look very good...
if your sentinels will look like that they will be very well in character for the army!
Hi Vic. Yes, I am going to go back and redo the bread rolls. I learned a lot doing them.
I made a tank commander last night. I will have 4 sentinels, 8 rough riders, 3 troops, 1 vet and 1 Hq for this army. And some heavy weapons....which are coming in a box.
No idea what that mounts up to.
Coming down with a mancold.
Automatically Appended Next Post: If anyone has a army list based on that and is willing to share i'd be really grateful...
I read that and I was like...have I missed something? I'm getting slow in my late 20s.
Feeling a bit better today. I think it is the pollution. I think Manila is the 3rd most polluted city in the world in terms of air quality.
Vic!
I eat ginger nearly every day! With my noodles.
Tristan Gray!
Thank you very much!
So a little update.
I've done a tank commander. For a tank I have yet to build. I've done another Arbite. i've nearly completed the Ogryns, but need to work out how to do Shako hats. I am debating stripping my old school ratlings and making them Chosen Men as well. What do you think?
What else have i done? Oh I have nearly completed Rifleman Hagman. This was probably my most detailed GS to date (so this last week) as it meant building half a head from the GS. He just needs something I hope I have in my box.
What else? Seriously large amounts of painting to do for er every other army i have.
Ninjas
Firmir and Slaves
Halflings
Sigmar...
Orcs...
I think thats the problem. It is a daunting task. Anyway. Might be able to post pics later today.
i always wanted to ask you how the grub is where you live...
i for my part am really fond to spicey food...love cooking with exotic spices and new ways of cooking things together...my wife has recently turned an eye towards chineese cooking, particularly towards breakfast cooked and sometimes spicey too... treats you to a doese of warmth that stays in your bowels for a long time... the asians really know some thing or too to keep the energies in one self...
i would totally go for the ratlings as chosens...saw recently some conversions that went in that fashion if i am not misstaken...
looking for these? not done by me...but something i would love to have done^^
ah and i alwyas get envious at what cool minis you still have to paint...
Nice update Manokky , look forward to seeing The ledgendary Hagman, btw i have only watched the first two dvds of sharpe , so no spoilers please ;-) Its on terestrial tv at the moment and i am trying to avoid it like the plague , eles be robbed of my own controlled viewing pleasure, lol
If you make ratskins like chosen men i want one! nice find Vik!
Only on Manoknoks blog would you find find
Ninjas
Firmir and Slaves
Halflings
Sigmar...
Orcs... in one sentance, and this in return is why we all find your blog AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME
There.....Outdid ya!
btw i saw some ogryn Vostroyan on ebay a while ago and their russian shako style hats look very nice , all green stuffed !
hi sorry forgot my camera so no pics. Since bunking of work early - to run errands, which I then changed my mind on running - I made all the bits to finish the Ogryns. And finished the last of my 4 Arbites. I want to try and make a mechanical dog. I guess once I've made all these I'll have no excuse but to paint.
I do love making the models. I hate painting them.
Vic - yes almost exactly that. With Shakos.
Neil101! Haha. Firstly can't believe you've never seen all the Sharpes! I am actually looking forward to painting my firmir - after 20 years! I have quite a few so, I may make one a captain or something. Would be interested to see the Vostroyran. I was thinking of doing a Vostroyan count as as my next army....after everything else is finsihed. So. 2012.
Rifleman Horg Toothsnap! Pretty pleased with how he, and his kin, have turned out! I've done 3 so far. I don't know many have to be in a Ogryn Squad. I might do a few more. I may not. I might save up for some plastic Ogre Kingdoms and do more. It seems a bit of shame to cover the metal models in GS. So what do you think?
Sigmar. I am going to remove that breast plate and do it again. I rushed it and it shows.
Arbites pretty pleased with them. I need a handful more. But, don't have any more of those style Perry minis.
Necron; I have a few of these from my 5 box deal. I have serious amounts of stripping to do! Bye bye fingerprints.
Tank Commander, I want to be your....
Redemionist Priest; I need a colour theme. I want them to match my Sisters of Battle...who also need a Colour Scheme...suggestions please!!
Rifleman Dan Hagman. Best shot in the Regiment. Gets a proper sniper rifle (my only one). Not complete as I want to attached a little thing that I don't have but I am sure I put in my box being shipped. Pretty pleased with my green stuffed face. Learnt a lot. Relatively easy. Next time I do eat will take more time and do it in stages...so I can make teeth.
Then...the rest is my work station, some sprues, some of the stuff I have left to paint (8 draws here and half a box in shipping), finished stuff, and I think that is about it. I have made a couple of bits of terrain also. I wish I had the patience to paint.
Comments criticisms very welcome!
If you look on the first page, I want to be told what to paint next!
what a messy and unorganized workspace...i would feel at home in a sec^^,
your ogrynheads look really good, tho i have to say the pics shown the shakos i fell not sold on them. they are a bit to high for my taste..for my taste that doesn´t have to say they woudnt work, eh?^^
Great update manoknok , love what your doing with the dragoons , and your tank commander looks , great , your ogryns look funny man , in a good way , tehy are ugly buggers , and i still cant get over the amount of old minis you have ? its like a bottomless pit. sniper guy looks cool also .
Thanks! Yes I have loads. I don't want to get rid of any...though I think I have no decided I will have a moratorium on buying minis for a few years. Till the last mini is painted, the last base er based.I really enjoyed messing with the Ogrys and the Naploenics. I have more to make-but just bog standard now.
Weety!
The Prince is one of my favorite books. It looks into the ideas of power and rule etc. The Patricia Cornwall books are my mums; she insisted on giving them to me even though they don't fit into my history/philosophy and what is now called Speculative Fiction according to the guardian but I call Sci Fi and Fantasy.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh the model is from the Redemptionist gang from Necromunda. I picked it up the Christmas before last.
Thats a pretty good boxset. some nice heads. Want to blend them with my sisters of battle. (have 1 squad and a tank).
So I did a ridiculously large amount of painting last night. Unfortunately it was of the flat wall variety.
Got home late, and decided that I would just do some thinking on my stuff. Want to print out the collectors manuals and check off what I have. Also. Want to actually play the damned game so...
I knocked up two very WIP army lists. As I have played 4 games in 10 years (and hey I won 3/4 not bad...but that was because I used my old tactic...line up, look pretty, don't move, fire at anything)
I would like to have a working army list for each army...
Speaking of; I am thinking of limiting the Son's of Sigmar to 2,500 pts. As I likely have another 10,000 pts of marines on top of that...any suggestions on what to do with them? Two big armies?
I should probably have a small - ARGH I CAN"T BELIEVE I AM ABOUT TO SAY THIS - Ultra Marines force as I have a lot of their Characters; I have three bloomin Marneus Calgars!!
Anyway...suggestions! What is the smalllest Smurf force that can field Calgar....and what other forces can I use? I was thinking Aurora Chapter, GSing some Legion of the Damned, and er...that leaves me 5,000 pts...so....what is the least common force? What about the Flame Falcons...
Sisters of Battle (have all models except the Arco-Flagelants which are in the little Magic the Gathering shop in the mall, and have been for a long time, I may blow half my remaining yearly game budget on them(.
36th Imperial Foot Regiment (I have no chimerias - yet...might use paper)
HQ: Heroic Senior Office Sharpe + Medic, Standard etc
HQ Advisors Psyker (5)
HQ: Commissars (4)
HQ: Priests (3)
Elites: 35th Chosen Men (Hardened Veterans)
Elites: 35th Large Fellows (2 Ogryns 1 Bonehead)
Elites: 95th Rifle Division (6 Ratlings)
Troops 35th Red Coats Infantry (10)
Troops 35th Red Coats Infantry (10)
Troops 35th Red Coats Infantry (10)
Troops 35th White Jackets Conscript (20)
Fast Attack Therebridge Volunteer Air Cavalry (Rough Riders 9)
Fast Attack Therebridge Volunteer Air Cavalry ( Rough Riders 9)
Fast Attack Therebridge Volunteer Walkers (Sentinels 3)
Heavy Support: Roaring Meg (Demolisher 1)
Heavy Support: Rocket Company (Mortar)
Heavy Support: lasGunnery Comany (lasgun)
Total c. 1500
What do you think? Can field both at once...and then...have Praetorians (if they ever show up) Catachans and Cadians...and some Feral World Stuff (based on necromunda ratskins...just need a few bits for that).
Then Space Marines...
Sorry not much of a update...but hey...I am supposed to be working...
Posted this entire update on someone elses blog by mistake.
Doh!
Automatically Appended Next Post: It occurs to me that this guy
So. My box of goodness should arrive in a little over 9 days. What with moving flat. Decorating new flat. Work. Travel (to work sometimes 10hrs) its not a great time to be a model in the Manoknok house. Flat. Flouse.
Anyway. I am plodding on with my Rifles.
Have done most of a HQ squad. But could not remember what else went in it. Have also done three more guardsmen.
I've been playing Game of Thrones Roleplay (I am actually not a great fan of mass troop movement - I like skirmishes and RPGS) which uses something called Tri-Stat. Good fun. Suprisingly!
Anyway, I need to paint some knights before sunday for the next session. I have several knights but only one house.
So some of you will know that one of the main reason I left the hobby and switched to RPGs was that I accidentally destroyed all my plastic miniatures, arms bolters of metal ones included. This left me with a armles army and quite a large pile of gunk.
From their I descended into RPG and the passive aquisition of models;
'I'll switch you those LOTD you have for a crate of stella'
'I'll swtich you those 5 boxes of models of a LP player.'
Anyway. I've just picked up 58 arms on ebay for 2 pound!
Yay! They are in the UK...but hey step in the right direction!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Gaming budget: 23
Also started 13 more riflemen and finsihed 6 last night.
Without ebay I think I would have never even thought about painting minis again.
Glad you found your arms - now you just need your second edition bolters- I have a few but probably not enough, I reckon if you type bits or bitz into the search you will find the droids you are looking for. Conversions are looking good
They are looking good i do like your conversions , the fix bayonet guy is perfect! and i reccomend that medic puts in a request for a set of hands from your new collection. £2 bargain!
@ Vic Thanks! QUite a simple conversion really. Replaced one hand with the medic bandage from the Cadian Battalion Box set (have been harvesting from built minis...hence the no handed medic above) and having shaved away one hand atached. Then just used a plane victrix sword arm and attached a bayonet in a saw position.
Did 2 more last night. One lobbing a grenade. One, possibly my favorite non sharpe, pushing a chaos terminator helmet with his foot with a look of disgust and effort.
Think about 14 more to make, then 20 artillery incoming.
Automatically Appended Next Post: So my Firmir and Men of Albion should arrive in the next 6 days in my box. There are about 500 miniatures in that box, several game boards, pretty much every roleplay book I have...
I hope it arrives safely!!
Anyway. Does anyone have any idea how I should go about this Albion army. Till now I have given it much thought. How would I play it? How should I paint it? I need to find some characters. I've been looking at the Giants of Albion DOW models...but they are way out of my game budget league.
Any advice would be great. Are they any Albion models available? And I am correct in thinking that Firmir were based in Albion? My thoughts so far have been about fielding these two speicies on the same side...not PM stuff....but I need to start researching paint and colour schemes etc...
If you know of any albion models I could use let me know!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Well. Anything Albion is expenmsive on ebay. If I had the money these might make good fell beasts:
Then giants. Druids. Dogs of Orion. Barbarians....
not sure what this albion is is it a part of the warhammer world? like lustria? is that one? i am getting a bit confused I remember the firmir from warhammer roleplay , and some scenariors in white dwarf, there was one like the seven samuari if i recall correctly with great art from paul bonner.
edit just did some research on albion , so its britain eh , i kinda thought it would be so if i were you i would go with a celtic feel , druids and lots of blue woad , a bit braveheart you could say!
The new plastic giant (ok not really new now) is pretty long and lanky limbed like the albion giants were, It might be possible to convert it to look more celtic. Or even just have it painted up the right way. Fimir definately were in albion. They had fenbeasts too.
Completely forgot that my Albion army is in fact supposed to be a Chaos/Firmir led army and not a Empire type army!
So I have been looking at the Dark Emissary Models...Again they are expensive!
Dang!
Anywho! I've been painting majorly. 1 IG squad done, 12 count as conscripts and a tank or two.
I've changed the scheme of the sigmarites to yellow...it looks better. Coincidently they look like Flame falcons..complete with flames and a sort of falling flame with twin tales as their sigil! So I am going to do a few smurfs and a flame falcons/sigmarite army...which will allow me to use my old stuff and also my LOTD!
Don't have a camera at the mo as my gf has taken it away with her but pics early next week and a mega update!
What colour shall i paint my Terminators for my sigmarite army? Bone white, yellow or black?
Suggestions welcome...as I'd like to start them to night!
Shingouki - Thanks and welcome to my very disjointed geekout. Btw...what is your signout video?
Vic and Weet! I went for Bone.
Neil...sorry I read theirs first! But, I might try a black trim!
Hopefully pics up soon! Started painting yet more models last night...(painting my termies did not go well but will stick at it!)
Currently completed 0
Currently painting : 15 conscripts, 1 IG Squad, 5 termies, IG Captain, IG Officer, 2 tanks, 1 LR, 1 SM Captain, 1 Cadian, 4 Arbites.
I am really pleased with the schemes going on at the mo. But, it is all sort of blocking in so far and not much detailing. The Termies are the weakest link...the bone looks very faint...so going to look up a DW tutorial...
manoknok wrote:Well that's why there are a lot of started and not many completed. I still have a half completed regiment of Halflings on my desk...
But I don't watch tv so that kinda helps I guess.
Hey dude,
I've been looking at what you've been up to, got a similar thing going on in my IG army although I tend to use perry twins and WW2/vietnam special weapons from http://www.theassaultgroup.com/ because they're closer to the right scale - the flamers and GL's convert beautifully onto the napoleonic guys - and I've found the victrix paint guide really handy for getting through the painting faster and better than I thought I would: http://www.victrixlimited.com/painting_guide_beginners.php - I've got no idea if any of that would help you, but it sure as dang has helped me.
I have had no painting time in the last 4 days, I have been pinning Retribution of Scyrah for a friend and as soon as that is done Im back doing some Cold Ones.
It has been a long time since I updated this blog (and its ancestors) with a painted model. You'll be pleased to know I have finished most of the heavy duty work on my new flat (getting strange looks from people - white guy doing manual labour in the Philippines is literally unheard of!) and will be moving in next week when I am back from site. This means I will a. have space to work in and b. get back full swing to my modeling and painting...I will also have better and natural light...and air! Can't tell you how much I am looking forward to moving. Yes I can. I am really looking forward to moving.
So here, for your entertainment: some models, and my current favorite prog rock song. I guess I really should put a space opera up to fit with the 40kness...in which case I need Yes or Vangelis.
Coverted drummer is my fav. Your coversions are characterful and fun(the axe made me lol). Hope the refurbished flat is good and all that. I really want some of those gorkamorka humans - gona go trawl the net now
man i feel lighthearted when i see your backlog and your manic and not really to be seen try to not buy any more minis... i had thought i had gone mental and to totally live over my income... since that is numerical zero...this isn´t quite complicated^^ but you sir...have lots of mins...and i think if i ask you if you brought enough for all then the answer is pretty straight forward^^
the poses, the choice of bits...cool...and this is only saying the half of it...
the execution is sick^^ in a very twisted sense of a good way^^...
this is probably the best ratio for a conversion of lasgun and boltaction gun...very convincing pose and very good positioning...
cool stuff and i look forward to your tanks and dreads you showed...
Hey guys. Started work on another 5 cadian type guards. I have so many models wip that I am expecting the universe to complete some for me just by the laws of chance.
Weet - Thanks. I really hope to be in soon...I have relies arriving in 2 weeks, and I am away for a week in between then. Thanks for the comments on the models! I appreciate that! I use that 'and my axe' slogan a lot...when people get it its funny when they don't...erm...i have to explain. When I get around to it the drummer will have a dirty yellow coat...
Vic! - My that is a big picture!Funny you should say that about my back log and minis...I unpacked all my stuff on Friday night from the boxes I sent over. I'll post some pics of all the stuff I have. In the boxes - which I had not properly looked at when I got them (I didn't want to go all gollum infront of my cousin) - that I got for the lp player were about 20 tau, 16 kroot, a hammerhead, 30 khorne berzerkers, 2 rhinos, 6 bikes (appalingly painted even by my standard 10yrs ago!), a pretty large warhammer orc force, and a largish 40k orc force. about 50% plastic 50% metal. Oh. And a large amount of Bretonnia stuff...I am wondering if it came with a wfb boxset a while ago and someone just bought a few additional models. I need to strip a lot of plastic models of bad paint jobs...they were a few odds and sods...some white plastics 80s skaven and dark elves...some skinks...my dragon, and half a cave troll (i'll covert to something).
On top of that I have models from 2 boxes of heroquest and bloodbowl. I have the models I bought at Christmas...a box of artillery and 30 celts. Thats what came in the box...then here already I had a lot...
So...I am done with buying warhammer at least till I have painted all but one mini so...till 2014. I've told my mum and gf I don't want anymore (expect arcoflagelants for my bday!). I've a self imposed ban, and a really tight budget (its down to about 14 pounds after buying 5 paints the other day).
Playing WFRP tomorrow. Annoyingly despite all my models I have no mutants and no beastmen without guns (my beastmen where art my beastmen!)...
Sorry! Bit of long reply!
Neil: I am looking for the chair! And thanks...it felt good to finally get some paint on one of the players!
My painting goal for the next 13 days is to finish:
Human Blood Bowl Team
Ten Cadians
2 More Arbites
8 Tallarn (finishing the squad)
All my ninjas (they are pretty easy...they are mainly black!)
Sadly 5 of those days will be spent on site, and a lot of time at work, but on the other hand my gf is out of town for 10 days.
two things...first i like to comment on your sig...while we all think(cant think soeone wourl say otherwise...) the big lebowski is as cool as it gets, i really hate your sig...from a explorer freeze point of view...i dont get it why everytime someone uses this kind of sig here my pc tries to freeze, well allmost...
no to second:
lol very nice tidalwave of minis...a three years plan for painting minis...its like one of these hard time questions in an aplications interview...where do you see yourself in, the let us say: three years? well, blimey, good sir, i am probably painting my toysoldiers i bought three years ago and before that even...
lol^^
with the amount of fantasy , blood bowl and 40k stuffyour much more going ballistic in painting^^ to be honest i feel rather envious... if a project , a mini is giving you burnout you can just set the table to a whole new setting and start afresh...cool...
by the way i just relinked your pic and always when doing so it comes up that big... don´t know why...
funny how we all seem to be way more productive when our better halves or the kids aren´t around us... depressing also..kind of...
the best painting frenzy i had when my then former girlfriend broke up with me... frustration helped a lot to focus on painting...(was a student back then)
well you set your pace with your list...looking forward to see some productive results then^^
cheers, vik...
if i was offending by anything...i am truly sorry...was only joking^^
My favorite is the Napeolonic with the Grenade launcher, what a brilliant conversion. I also like seeing your treasure trove of goodies, you've certainly been collecting for a while.
Vik: You shall notice it is gone. I didn't really like it. It was more of a experiment, I hadn't ever used one before and always wondered how it was done.
And yes that is true. So many different types is actually speeding up my painting. I was 50% done with a Cadian squad last night when I knocked one over, then knocked some paint over. Doh! I will post some pics of all the stuff soon....,today or tomorrow. I am feeling a bit under the weather. Possibly because of allergens, possibly because I ate way too much TVP yesterday.
Perkustin! Hey thanks very much! I guess it helps that the those models are sculpted by the Perrys so they are a little bit more convertible than the Victrix.
Think I have finally worked out my colour scheme for the Cadians; granite boots, battlegrey trousers, yellow jacket, khemri brown armour. Just need to work out the guns.
Automatically Appended Next Post: So winding down my day at work....looking at what I have to field Bretonnia wise.
According to my pretty clear memory of Friday night's unpacking; I have;
Field Trebuchet,
A group Men At Arms,
Peasant Bowmen,
Damsel,
Fay Enchantress,
Standard,
Lord with Great Weapon,
a knight of the realm (foot),
and some knights errant.
I have loads of horses to knights ratio so might have more lurking! That is all I can see that I recognise. A lot of work to strip them of poor paint jobs...and of course adds to my mountain of painting. But I have a very very simple colour scheme, and a tad of fluff; they come from a place called Leshire, whose main crop is apples and cider. A very simple heraldic device of blue back ground yellow triangles up for the serfs, and apples and complicated (bulls) for the knights.
Going to see if halflings can fight with Bretons.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyone have any idea if that would comprise a fieldable force, and if so what pts?
thank you very much for removing... so much better now reading and answering your thread now!
about the yello jackets... well sound different... i am not that sure but this could be easily fixed by a pic^^
cheers, vik
p.s. ouch... knocking pots over is something really nasty...hope it didn´t cuase to much cleaning up work... happend to me once and ...bugger...
Bretonians sound like lots of fun. please paint the damsel first and i too am glad the sig is gone , very cool and high res but pretty laggy. besides the dude needs no introduction
Have my own bretonians that one day will get a repaint. Even if i dont particularly want to play fantasy 8th edition. Why did they mess with 6th edition?! The best wargame ever... Good luck with 'em.
the yellow looks very interesting, and the carpace i realy like...tho i have to poit out some horrible abominations on the models... there seems to be a long cancer like structure from fingers to shoulder and from to to hip of the kneeling sarge...
by the way...the wound looks really stunning
Vik you are right...I might be able to salvage that...
Captain Roderick! Hello! I also have another scratchbuilt tank..and 3 scratchbuilt Imperial Lightenings. I just need to sit down and finish them...which is pretty much what I have to do for everything!
Anyway..next update Saturday! Loads a pics I promise!
Very quick update...I am way behind on well....everything...moving, work, modelling...
Anyway...
This is everything I have I'll repost pics of the complete SM and IG I have from the old blog too...
Let the painting begin!!
First up for Vic! World War Sprue! Here we have 36th Foot Artillery, 30 Celts, A SOB Immoliator, a Leman Russ. I also have 5 Kislev Horse Archers, 5 LOTD!
Secondly for Weety! Notice; paints! and dip!
There are more 40k orcs in a box, but the ones from the 2nd ed.
Last two pics, Tau and Choas, show the poor paint jobs (of swaped and my only early models) and bad modelling (that Tau has so many grenade packs on him it is ridiculous!)
Lol - reminds me of my first model daubings! The paints look good - I like valejo model colour, but never tried army painter dip wash, I hear it is easy though. What an extensive mixture of things! Bretonians look to be the most extensive, but it looks like you have enough orcs to put up a fight with
so much joy in one update i dont know where to start , as i am sure you have the same problem , with so many classics really like the look of those bretonian knights , really nice , look forward to seeing those in colour , and what a cool adition to the orc blood bowl team but wheres the Rankor beast tsk tsk tsk. i also like the heroquest stuff , i was always partial to that game ,especially the set pieces. and now you have the paints , so its all gonna kick off
Weet...yes loads of Orcs. Currently trying to work out a. how to paint them in a classic 80s style, and a army list. I have only ever played WFB 1 time...and now I have two complete armies...
Vik! I was thinking of using him as a Orc Giant!
Neil! Yes...no idea where to start...got some minis stripping already... I might start with a squad of each so I don't get board.
Probably:
10x Cadians (Yellow, Grey, Bone white)
10x Orc Archers
10x 36th of foot (redcoats)
10x Sigmarite/Flame Falcons SM 10x Breton Men at Arms...
Ok...yes...I may have been telling a porky pie (lie) as I spent a good 30mins yesterday daydreaming on GW store page at the green knight. I have always had a fascination with the green knight...and also long bow men.
Where I am from you are allowed to shoot a welsh man with a long bow. We had such a great time as kids...
Joke! Haha. But yeah. I will buy more stuff eventually...but, not till everything is painted....
yeah pretty much is - but I thought it was with a crossbow, and it had to be from the walls of York? The longbow I think is for Moors, when in Westminster.
Alas, although the laws haven't been repealed, they have been superceded. By, y'know, Murder laws.
@OP - I've just invested in my first sheet of plasticard, planning on scratchbuilding a Griffon or a Medusa. I'd love to see your Lightnings if you've still got 'em around?
Lifted my paintbrush for the first time in a month last night. Work has been hellish, coupled with visitors, and moving flat it's all been pretty exhausting!
Hoping to get a few models done! Pictures as soon as I find where I have put my camera.
Ah. And it is Welshmen, on Cathedral Close, on a Sunday!
Funny thing, I often think my town would be better if it was Welsh...which of course it used to be according to its Charter!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and Ill take some better pics of my scratchbuilds....
Man you're stuff at the moment neil is truly epic!!
You've got to enter some of it into comps! Or put it on cool mini or not! Have you finished that true scale chaos guy choking a catachan!
Anyway, yes! Will post stuff! Life is hectic too! You know when you agree to do something thinking it isn't much work, then find out that in fact it is a huge pile of doggy doo?
the commander of the praetorians looks very promising, and i have to congratulate you for your absolutly tidy workspace... as task i am unable to do so myself...general messyness is all around^^
...That would be because it is my only table currently. My 'other' work area, is a sink I have to use in my bedroom, full of models half stripped, paint (wall type) brushes, WDwarfs, cards from various games, and unmade models...
Automatically Appended Next Post: I am going to get some PS Tamiya spray, yellow for Sigmarites, and red for the IGs....
Automatically Appended Next Post: I have at least 3 more riders to make (and four my arbites yay). I am not particularly organised so not sure how many bikes I have left, but I think more than three. I will either convert, or order some more Perry minis. The guy with a beige hat is bottom half perry top half IGGW.
so you feel like pudding? or possibly yoghurt? well please share your feelings...do continue...^^
last time i checked in i could not comment something useful...but i will do now nonetheless as some peeps are used to my banter^^
the black shakos look promising and totally the part!
what i am feeling a bit difficult is, are the jetsteeds... while in concept cool as can be, the actual look is uneasy...how will they steer these bikes? and i think as of now the riders sit to much in front row of the bikes...is that understandable? like they would topple over their bikes at the merest breaking...this could be fixed by making a means to steer the bikes... a handle and possibly a bigger/ longer nose for the bikes...
er..."Pie"??? this is surely the oddest oddity i´ve ever seen^^...call about a nasty self inflicted accident during self tatooing...^^
Vik! Haha...no I was just complaining no one had posted for a while! I am going to start painting the rest this weekend. Assembly line painting seems to work.
Yes I know what you mean about the jetbikes. I think it is because they are the original ones. If you look at early pics of jetbikes with chaplains on they are holding onto thin air!
Would be loath to alter the bike, but might try and sculpt on some handles or reins.
My aim for this weekend is to finish my Golfag's Ogres. That will be my first unit complete of anything...ever! 3 models to paint.
After that...I want to do a unit of orcs. I lined them up all last night and did some research this am. I am pretty sure that I have Ruglunds Armoured Orcs and Harboth Half Orcs. And er...
I've done some ebaying. I bought some stuff for my Albion Army, and got a decent price! There are 4 other models that I want for my albion army. I also got hold of two old regiments of renown. I'm looking at a few other bits and pieces. Namely the Giants of Albion...
Anyway. Thats about it. I have no idea what to do with the Bretonnia stuff...
So. Here is my chaos stuff, as someone wanted to have a look. 10 Oop termies (one of which appears to be a chaos libraian). Some badly done models. 6 bikes and a rhino.
Yes! Though they were the metal ones! Which were all stored safely in the same place. I just don't know where that place is. Presumably the same place as my beastmen and roughriders! :-(
thought it might help^^...of course it is just a heavy piece of uselessness when on the search for plastic minis... but they didn´t invent yet a detector for those...
by the way, those choasy termies look tempting... feel already the taint of the dark forces on me...
Haha. Thanks. Actually the arms were metal. I LOST THE ARMS FOR ABOUT 35 METAL TERMIES!!!
Sigh. 16 Imperial Beastmen also gone.
Anyway, in case anyone is interested probably monday night I'll be putting some stuff up for flogging. Adeptus Mechanicus Squat, Squats, 1st ever plastic DElves, Metal Catachans (with free plastic ones)...for starters...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh
And I just finished red and black on the rest of the Napoleonics (so not in fact working on my Golfang's Ogres).
I have the 95th rifle types to do too. And then artillery and calvary. Bar tanks, it is a complete 1800pts army.
Anyway, in case anyone is interested probably monday night I'll be putting some stuff up for flogging. Adeptus Mechanicus Squat, Squats, 1st ever plastic DElves, Metal Catachans (with free plastic ones)...for starters...
not listening *hums an anoying tune* for i am broke...
Those jetbikes are great Manoknok. sorry to here about your termie arms :-( , the redcoats look cool together too.
all in all , great progress matey. you getting tired from all that paint yet?
Man those redcoats are fiddly. I am now seeing the benefit of heroic scale 28mm. True scale is sso much smaller.
Vik/Miss Dee: I am going to watch ebay for a while and then put on a fair price for each one. Also, what I'd be willing to swap for it. Probably be next monday now as I have kinda cocked up my timing...I have a gazillion things to do before the country shuts down for holy week tomorrow morning...possibly the sole benefit of leaving in a Catholic Theocracy is the holiday.
So, I've purchased: a truthsayer, and 2 fen beasts...and I am on the look out for a dark truthsayer...and another fen beast...so I can play Chaos and not choas. I've bought some more halflings (bargain from the states 10 dorra for 20 some I don't have too). I got some Amazons (I want to repaint them and have them as Boudica types)...what else...some Regiment of Renown Orcs.
I'll be buying a Imperial Guard Battalion soon for my Wargames British Line (60). And a Warhammer Orc Battalion.
I am pretty much going to sell everything bar space marines, cadians, orcs, and bretonnians. Everything thats plastic and I probably can't give away I'll break up and use as bases.
I spent 1 day putting up shelves for my warhammer last week (literally a whole day) and I still need more space. As it has to compete with books and LPs I am downsizing.
Neil; yes I like them...I have a few spare so I might get another box of perry (great value) and get 20 rough riders.
I've spent yet more money buying some Tamiya Colour Spray (yellow for marines and cadians, and green for orks). A cheap mans airbrush hopefully. Not sure if I still need to undercoat though.
What else? It is sooo freaking hot here I am actually worried my sprays might explode (its like 38c outside...and I am basically in a glass case of a sauna). Yes my models are now at work, and I realised the folly of this about 20mins ago when my boss walked by.
Luckily he didn't see but I realized pretty quick it was a bit daft.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh....and as you can see I am way beyond my gaming budget and I am actually using my budget for a boiler for my new flat.
Yes that's right...I am sacrificing hot water for this hobby.
well as you said you fear your spray cans might explode from the heat in your flat... the least thing you need now seems to be hot water... then again plastic soldiers is also not a big number on anyones most wanted list...at least on those that are still sane...arhhh heck stuff sanity and we want to see some pics matey^^
didn´t knew that catholics are such a big group where your currently living...ha you live , you read dakka and you learn something new , each day^^
Lovely stuff going on here, I want to start an Napolionic 40k army myself, been looking around on the net and stumbled on this beauty. The Perry dismounted dragoons look bigger than victrix stuff is this true? How do the dismounted dragoons compare to GW stuff. I know victrix is fairly small in comparison to GW stuff. Good work, keep it going!
Yes. There is a clear difference between the Victrix and the Perry stuff in terms of size. Perry are far similar to GW models, they are just a little taller and thinner (as they are also true scale). I'll take a photo of the dismounted dragoons next to some GW tonight and try and post it tomorrow.
Everyone else....man. The last month has been exhausting. I've taken on a blind puppy (Justice) who was about to be put down. Plus we have our lab, who is back in school (with the puppy). Real work is died down significantly (on account of a difference of opinion with my sort of boss).
So what have i done?
Well. Not a lot. I have a lot of yellow marines. And a lot of green orcs. Now i just need to paint them.
The IG Napoleions are troublesome.
Think I will revert to one model at a time, not mass producing.
He is currently in the stage of lying in his own pee, and walking in his own poop. he is only 4 weeks old. Really should still be with his mum...
Luckily we have a big dum lab already to look after him :-)
And thanks for the welcome back...it has been too long!
And I am definitely burnt out.
Seriously. I went exploring in the jungle on the weekend...awesome...swam in lakes and rivers that were crystal clear...sadly, like the englishman I am, I did this at midday in the troppics without sunscreen.
Seriously. I went exploring in the jungle on the weekend...awesome...swam in lakes and rivers that were crystal clear...sadly, like the englishman I am, I did this at midday in the troppics without sunscreen.
ouch....i think you look like a nice piglet now? with that pinkish look to the skin? the crystal clear water sort of must also have worked as a lense...grilled britts^^ on your menu somehwer near you^^
he is only 4 weeks old.
now i understand the blind part better... unsusual to have a dog in that age being to be put away...well is that how they react in the philpiens to the strayed animals? instant death...cruel but i think i can understand that from some footage i have seen from there...and if he is only four weeks old...well what else is to be expected of him... far to little to be expected to have self control... actually he still needs a milkgiving mum to look after him...gosh i cant underatnd how some men could kill a living being that any normal men would jsut coo over and over about...
Just when I finally get some free time I discover the greatness of battlestar galactica.
Anyway.
GF away for 10days straight. I have to stay in the whole time to watch the blind puppy, and big dog. So...I hope to finally finish some models...which is good because those (60) Praetorain want to bes arrived.
I have 110 non-napoleonic Imperial Guardsmen to paint.
They are all lined up on my table. Before I commit to painting everyone of them what do people think of the scheme I showed a page or so ago? Yellow jacket, grey trousers, and bone white armour?
I have 88 Napoleonic Imperial Guard to finish.
62 Praetorians.
38 Albions.
14 Sisters of Battle
155 Space Marines
15 Tanks
3 Planes
12 Bikes
4 Dreads.
149 Orcs Fantasy
83 Orcs 2nd Edition 40k 57 Bretonnians
107 Halflings
67 Misc.
Hazah! Along the scheme mentioned yesterday. I did some work on redcoat halflings too.
The scheme for the IG is now: Yellow Jacket, Bone White Armour, Khaki or Grey Trousers, khaki or black or red gun, Granite boots.
Felt good to actually do some work on my models....first in so long. Nothing finished. Though I did mess around with something...but not until i have finished the guard on the table.
@ Neil! Yep its a cavetroll...part of my major swap from Christmas. I can't start another army, so what I might do is make him a Ogryn bonehead, or make him part of a necromunda Redemptionist gang some how...unless of course I buy a chaos necromunda gang or something! Does such a thing exist? I have a monatorium on purchases for a year...as er...I bought a few things on ebay last month. When they arrive I will show.
@ Vic! Correct! With a sentinel arm! And thanks, I have to admit it is hard. But I was looking at some of the ones I did last year and they were quite good. If I can get them all to that level I'd be happy. Tonight I aim to finish a Cadian captain. Thats it. The only model I am going to work on. So...close up tomorrow!
@ Tortured Robot! Hello and welcome! Thanks! Basically it is a mess of mostly GW metals, and now non GW plastics. I can't bring myself to pay huge amounts for plastics (emotionally scared...if you read the ancestor blog)...and when you can get 60 minis for 18 pound, well, thats hard to argue with! Anyway. I am starting to get the modelling bug back again...
Hey matey , whats Mordheim like? i have always liked the look of that game ?
Qoute " I have a monatorium on purchases for a year...as er...I bought a few things on ebay last month. When they arrive I will show. "
Waiting.......
You and i have the same problem Manoknok, we both bite off more than we can easily chew , 40 halflings never mind the napoleonics and evrything eles the only diffrence is i dont have the time restrictions of a full time job , well if you exclude being a father of three boys , But in my oppinion its better to be over optimistic than pessimistic about these things
besides Weety has all those Monkey troll grots doing all her hard work , while she plays with that clay pots stuff and ovens dont let her tell you any different
You obviously need to stop exploring your beautifull contry and swimming in water fall pools in the middle of jungles
artists immpresion of Manoknok rock diving when you should be priming minis...... let me think who has his priorities right
Actually it was something not totally dissimiliar to that...but more sort of dense rainforest - hacking and slashing with a bolo. It was also at that point, 30ft above a 1ft deep river I decided I really need to sort out my health insurance.
Little men all lined up!
Being a dad to 3 is full time!
Pictures tomorrow!
GTG! Work is catchining up on me!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ps Wholy recommend Mordheim...playing again this week! Its like necromunda...models twixt Rpg...which is good!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ps. I was doing neither hacking or slashing.
Some of the old halflings are really funny! They are just so much smaller than the lumpin croops! The man in the barrel I will use as a musician. keeping up the moral with his box of delights. He actually has a big fat cigar in his mouth too.
At christmas I brought a load of paints (Valero not GW). Now to be fair on GW the paints I had used in the recent past were all bought in the tropics and were barely liquid. However, I am really impressed with Valero. That is either elftone or dwarf. I will dry brush the other after. Most of the models I have in white have also been undercoated with a darker colour too, which seems to be working, because there are definite areas of shadow.
well now my question regarding a new installement of a sigar model are sufficiently answered...the first one disturbed me quite honestly... tho it reminds me of my own sculpting efforts...we live we learn...
the second one somehow reminds me of:
lol
did you mean vallejo paints? one day i wanted to convert my painting to that brand too...
as i have tested it myself some substances like simple green and others even weaken and soften the GS structure so just put it in a bath and let time work on its own...
Terminator in tails , now that is a first manoknok! i think i will also give the vallejo paints a try at some point . also could use some mig pigments . i have heard that i think vallejo does a red ink the same as the old games workshop one , could anybody clarify this ?
lol.... all i can say is tho you feel the need to stay productive you have to take in acount that hobby is not realted in any form to duty...you do as you see fit and when you do you do great^^ so when the time comes the intrinsic reward will be there...
???
minis looking good, the barrel hobbit looks now as if he has his toungue looking out of his mouth... as if trying to search real hard for a lost apple in the barrel...
Haha. Yeah thanks! I like that too! I am hoping the dip will cover some of the missed paints areas...
I meant to write that on the other picture of the redemptionist...with the blue stripes on his trainers. In honour of my long serving addidas that have given up the ghost. Almost.
well i sure knew that^^... after all the white shoes with their otherwise mostly black clothes and the hats were their trademark... seems we are both now trapped in your joke^^
Awesome.. don't be ashamed of playing vs painting, its all part of the hobby after all.
And Glenn Cook is a god among authors therefore the Black Pudding Company will of course win all their battles...stands to reason right?
I am playing a mage called Silent in an upcoming D&D campaign.. mainly because when I start talking my troupe gets into trouble so I decided to play mute for a while
Mordehiem sounds fun mate, i would play over moddeling any day of the week .so good on you manny! i have never heard of glenn cook , will have to look him up now. Castles and Halflings , sounds like a game in its self, Now with added black puddings , and speaking of pork pies hats , I declare RUN DMC Victorious in their pursuit of Korn in the ledgendary Addidas wars, where they settle into a life of quiet bliss , rapping and blogging on dakka from the 3 bed semi in Coventry ....... or so they think...http://www.adidas.com/campaigns/deathstar/content/Default.aspx?cc=us&site=adidasus
So. I was supposed to paint just 10 Halflings in a week (not much really). And I have failed. Sigh.
No updates! Sorry guys! I've got someone helping me out on the painting front now though in exchange for models, and I am thinking about opening a small gaming club in Makati...(cbd of Manila).
Work sucks...especially when you are cost cutting.
Sort of both ways....I've take over a project that needs to generate money, and save at the same time, and if it doesn't do the former, i have to do the latter again :(
not to sound too sarcastic...but thats the point unemployment beats employment any time...well you have tons of time but no money to spent ...so thats the draw there^^
Don't worry Manok, we'll still be here with one finger up our nose, one powerklaw in the cookie jar when the Black Pudding Company rise to their first roll-call. Hope you're well even if you're not getting any hobby time.
The Black Pudding Company of Havacake marches to your screen.
The Great and Terrifying Manok is back...in black! The Black Manok (Black Chicken), leader of the Black Pudding Company of Havacake, Eater of Foods, Taster of Stuffs, and Slaughterer of Desserts....aided by Washbreeze the Wizzard, Lover of Potatoes, Roaster of Vegetables....
...on the wind, which is polite in some societies after dinner, they hear....
Cake and dessert shall be so in use
And tasteful objects so familiar
That mothers shall but smile when they behold
Their infants quarter'd with the hands of war;
All filled chocka block with tales of sandwiches:
And Caesar's salad, eating elevensies,
Those that ate by our side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a halfling's voice
Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war.
Look to their coming at the first light of the fifth day.
aaahhhh, nice to hear from the other side of the globe again...i hope that you stay... we had a severe loss of your presence for waaayyy too long mate!
I am so slow these days! Excuses galore, but basically my painting has died a death as I am busy working...playing warhammer...and renovating my flat.
Warhammer playing! I probably haven't played this much ever! Some weekends...and every monday night! The Makati Marauders (some pics below) are doing well. I've been making a lot of terrain, and currently I am knocking up some final pieces...a realm of battle board!
Even though my painitng que extends into 2050 (at this rate...i'll finish when I am 1000...)...I've succesfully purchased a Ogre Kingdoms box, and a Orc Battalion, a Finecast Golfang, and I am looking at getting just one or two more pieces....maybe from forgeworld. And I am still trying to get all the regiments of reknown/Dogs of War units/Characters.
Of course...none of these are painted.
But...the Halflings are coming along slowly, and as my girlfirend is away till the end of the month, and after friday my next deadline is Nov 1, I may actually be able to do some painting!!!
Anyway!
Finally...some pictures! Most of them from the Makati Marauders nights...but on the last one you can see some of my halflings in action, caught in the flank by a band of gobbos. (I love to roleplay my battles, so, despite the fact that my Manok's knew they'd be charged the wheeled to fire on a lone wolf rider charging at their steaming hot spoup launcher). And failed to do any damage.
However: for your reference Halfling Hot Pot is deadly...takes out a average of 10 guys per turn so far!!! for 50pts!
i read abou that surfshop too.... didn´t that colonel say charly doens´t surf???^^ and did they really film that movie in your area....didn´t knew that....
also good to read of you again....you left a whole here.... time to fill it with such lovley minis like your halfling you showed....!!!
Hey Monkey Troll...no it is called Charlie Does Surf...but we have a board in production called Kilgores...and I am thinking of doing a zombified Kilgore ala Eddie from Iron Maiden for character kinda thing...
Vik: Yep. Quite a few scenes are shot in the area we are in...well..all the surf scences, and most of the beach, water ones...and it is good to be back! Monday is a whole day of painting!
Is from the old Grenadier Warlords series. Is part of the Orc General's War Chariot. I have it from back in the day. Here's what is looks like complete:
Skalk Bloodaxe! Argg! Thank you so much for that! I[ve been trying to work out how it goes together...I never got the box, and I got it mixed with the ?Skull Crusher Catatapult and 2 other Chariots....I think I have it complete....just need to zoom in on that driver and see if I have him. Orcs Fasands of em. All needing to be painted!
Guys! With further adieu (because didn't take any pictures)...I finished my first unit ever last night! Golfag's Ogres. Done. Hazahhhhhhhh. These guys are the hard hitting flank of my Black Manoks.
The magnificently rotund, gloriously hairfooted, and fabulously lunched Black Manok, leader of the of the Black Pudding Company of Havacake, last of the Free Companies of the Old World, seeks the missing history of his company, namely the missing tome's of law and tactics; namely those written in the guise of the White Dwarf 314, and the Citadel Journal 36.
Should yee know of their location then pray tell us! And surely thou own pantry shall be free of pests for all enternity!

Automatically Appended Next Post: Man this plog has been going for nearly a year!!!
Congrads on your IRL accomplishments. I hope you enjoy your down time. And by "enjoy" I mean "work your fingers to the nubbly bleeding bones to provide your fan base with new material".
8 months since my last update, which was in itself 18 months from the previous!
It has been too long.
The army that has taken three years from conception to completion (yes you read that) is nearly done! I can list the things I have to do: buy two chimera's and a vendetta and convert and paint, paint up jetbikes, finish ogryn bonehead conversion, create a psyker, convert and paint ratlings, paint imperial beastmen.
Here is a teaser. All infantry and cavalry are now painted. 3 HW teams and 3 Ogryns done. I think it is about 95% complete.
Yay!
In fact since I started following this blog I've given up on napoleonic IG, gone for something simpler, but I like the look of your teams and 3 years to 95% complete is still 80% better progress than I made. I look forward to seeing more...
It comes back to me. I am the Mega Chicken. The Manoknok. The ancient wizzard who had no job, and then had too many.
Long ago. A project was started but never quite finished as many projects are.
I am older now. Wiser. I have expanded my forbidden knowledge into the worlds of Dredd; into historical gaming, into the weird wars...into the zombie apocalypse.
But still there is that faint tugging...of the project. Of projects never finished; and one never really started. Of a legion lost in the warp; never known. Of Malal and Malice. Of a legion of men up in bright red jackets. Of an alien cult. Of a villainous red skull.
This was the fluff I wrote back in Nov 2010 for a Sigmar themed legion. A lot of models are now available to me that weren't then (like er pre-heresy marines and primarchs).
Fluff on the Second Legion (Twin Tailed Comet)
During the Great Crusade, in a time before the Emperors Return to Terra but after the finding of the Primarch Alpharius, the Emperor in all his wisdom had a vision.
It was of his missing Primarchs. He saw that the powers of Chaos had ushered two off his sons into the warp, and saw their journey through it to a small planet where thousands of spacecraft and races had crashed trapped by unending solar storms and fluctuations in the Warp around the planet. Due to the anarchic nature of the Warp his two Sons, unknown brothers, crashed on the planet apart. Of one son he knew no more, but of the other he saw all his life from the crash of his birthing pod on the planet, his wars. He saw that at fifteen his young son had defended his village singlehandedly from green skin gretchens, and had defeated a green skin war band in retribution! He saw the freeing of a ancient squat forge-master and the bonds of friendship born between Super and Ab-human. He saw the boy, age fifteen receive a force weapon of unimaginable power as a gift from the Squats. He saw the unification of the human population – descended from thousands of ships crashed after becoming lost in the warp. He defeated men possessed by those beyond the Ghoul Stars.
Finally in the twilight of his vision he saw his son fight his son, brother fight brother. And his son who he had watched enter manhood in a matter of seconds remained un-defeated. The Emperor of all Mankind knew that this was his greatest Son, for he held no ambition yet the fulfilment of duty, no hope except the defeat of choas, and strength enough to defeat a brother without harm to himself. If ever he had an heir this was he for he knew he would not suffer the petty rivalries that plagued his found Sons and their Legions. The Eleventh Legion , that of his defeated Son who had been corrupted beyond all recognition but that of the Emperor were dispatched to the very edge of the galaxy where they were to give service in what was to be a unknown suicide mission of protection and diversion against the increasing threat of a species yet unknown to all bar the Emperor. The Emperor ashamed of his failure with the Eleventh, and wishing to conceal the identity of the Second till he could present his Son to all his Primarch’s as a completed family deleted from record all knowledge of these mighty Legions.
The Emperor of Mankind immediately returned to Terra leaving his first Son, Horus, as Warmaster on the Great Crusade in his place and asking his Sons to show their greatness! Upon Terra the Emperor knew he must create a device that would enable him to communicate with his Son through the warp storms that ravaged his planet. He knew it would take a generation to conceive and construct so, for this period he created the Council of Terra, and the Imperial Tithe so that his Empire, that of Mankind, would continue whilst he worked in solitude on what became known as the Golden Thrown, a device designed to communicate solely with his Son by halting time and thereby finding paths through the storm. He sent the gene-seed Legion of his Son to the planet, thought the warp, guided by himself on the Golden Thrown. It took immense concentration and around him events were unfolding that would bring to the very brink of destruction his Empire.
The Emperor having completed his Golden Thrown communicated with his Son for the first time and they bonded like no other Son had bonded to his father. By now his Son had ruled his people for fifty years and was seeking new challenges and was beginning to wonder why he had not aged whilst those around him passed into legend. The Emperor told him of his history, of his brothers, of his aims; for the enlightenment of all the galaxy and the defeat of Chaos, and told him that to transport him off of his planet was fraught with danger and that he would need travel alone, for only his super-human constitution could save him given that his planet had yet to invent any form of sophisticated space flight or automation and mass production.
The Son left his people and headed to the highest peak on his planet where he waited for a sign. A year later a pod crashed near his small campsite. The armoured men inside had not survived the landing and they were left where they lay. For inside the pod lay the means for the Primarch to leave the planet and reach his Legion above. His Father across interstellar distances directed him in the use of the craft and he left his homeworld promising that one day he would return and free his people. As he reached his Armada above the planet he was contacted by his Father who was heartbroken for his first Son, Horus, had turned against him, and civil-war had broken out in the Galaxy. Years passed as the armada slowly made their way through the warp to where they believed Terra lay, for no message more was heard from the Emperor for months.
Until the lost Primarch heard again from his father. He told his Son he had been imprisoned on his thrown after collapsing from the exertion of defeating his Son turned Traitor - Horus. He informed his Son that he must defeat the institutions that held him Prisoner, the Council of Terra (who were telling the populace he had been mortally and was a God, a Omnisiah, neither of which were correct), and seek his freedom if it take Millennia and the destruction of a Billion lives, for he foresaw the power of the institution and saw that it was corrupting his vision in to something intolerant and hateful and would lead to countless trillions being sacrificed in his name, and in the name of his still loyal though now misguided Sons. The Primarch told all this to his Legion and there was much sorrow. But from this the Legion yet untested with their new Leader grew stronger. For they resolved that if they were the last of the true Space Marines they could not fail in their task for the future of the human race was at stake. They must bring light to the darkplaces and there was no grimmer or darker place than the visage the Emperor was painting of the galaxy.
Though the journey through the warp for the armada took but a few years as they were guided by the Emperor himself on the outside Millennia had passed, and as armies of the Second Legion re-entered the Galaxy in the 41st Millennium it was one unrecognisable to all of them even the Emperor seeing through his sons mind that he had been trapped for ten thousand years.
Now the last of the Primarchs, his loyal Space Marines, and the armies of the Second Legion fight towards Terra and no man or monster shall stop them. For they must free the Emperor from the Imperium that has chained him, and bring enlightenment to the Galaxy once more. The Last of the Primarchs know that the task is near impossible but with the guidance of his imprisoned father they hope that finally right makes might.

So what do I plan to work on?
1 x Sigmar themed space marine force
1 x Genestealer Cult Kill Team Force
1 x Sons of Malice Kill Team Force
1 x Finish the Vehicles for 36th Legion of Sol.
1 x Possible Gork or Mork Force
1 x Malal Warband
1 x Konflict 47 Red Skull Army. (Need a bit of paint)
1 x Finish my celts, napoleonics, french indian war (and historicals) (needs a bit of paint)
1 x Zombie Game (pretty easy)
1 x Finish a couple of Mordheim Warbands
1 x Pre-Heresy Alpha Legion Kill Team
Thats it. Full disclosure. I'm not going to be painting all of these myself as I have a share in a historical painting company. I've also already got must of the models except the chaos, and the cult, and the alpha legion.
Hi there. They are a mix of Perry and Victrix napoleonics with a bunch of IG bits thrown in. Models also beefed out by ogryns (sculpted on uniforms) and ratlings. Would do it differently if I did it again. Just make hats and alter the pads of cadians. I play them as a abhuman force of Longshanks as they are taller and thiner than normal IG. They look frail next to SM and Ogryns so it works.
