Jade Empire

Why? Because it's unique as the only martials arts 'western' rpg ever made and probably the most underrated game produced by Bioware. Imagine a Jade Empire 2 that goes the same way as Mass Effect 2, increased emphasis on character development, cinematic dialogue, and improved combat. The current gaming industry is dominated by fantasy rpgs and scifi/modern shooters. I for one would like to see some innovation and a Jade Empire sequel would be just that.

Is it possible? Hard to say. Bioware is focused (for the meantime) on Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, and The Old Republic. Once Mass Effect 3 is out they could have the resources to begin developing (or speeding up development) on Jade Empire 2. I would not be surprised to see Jade Empire 2 announced in the wake of either Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect 3.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines

Why? Because VtM: Bloodlines was incredible and one of the best RPGs ever made. World of Darkness is one of the most beloved table top RPGs on the market and there is a significant market out there for a new VtM.

Is it possible? Not a chance. A World of Darkness MMO is in the works and set for release in 2012. I'm sure I'm not the only one saddened by yet another RPG series jumping on the MMO bandwagon.

Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura

Why? Aside from having the most awesome title of of all time, Arcanum is also heralded as being one of, if not the greatest, RPG ever developed. There was a plan for an Arcanum sequel based on the VtM: Bloodlines engine (Yes, I know, the very thought just caused you to cream your pants as I did mine), but VALVE in all their glory screwed the pooch. Troika went out of business and RPG fans lost the most innovative developer in the genre.

Is is possible? I think it will happen. Arcanum has an incredibly strong cult following and I'm sure that there are developers out there who would jump at the chance to do it. Bethesda's resurrection of the Fallout series, Fallout 3, was a commercial and critical success (despite being panned universally by RPG elitists) and showed the gaming industry that there was still a fanbase for 'old' game series. Leonard Boyarsky, one of the key designers on Arcanum is currently employed by Blizzard and is working on Diablo III.

Potential developers for an Arcanum sequel.

Bethesda. Oblivion and Fallout 3 were both major money makers for Bethesda and I'm sure Bethesda has the resources to bring us Arcanum 2. Of all the major developers I think Bethesda would be the best at capturing Arcanum's open world and sandbox gameplay, but at what cost? They're not known for their writing skills and Oblivion and Fallout 3 polarized fans of both series. If Bethesda could capture the magic of Morrowind and transfer that to a new Arcanum game I think it would be a success, but a dumbed down action game with crappy NPCs and poor writing would be beyond dissapointing.

Obsidian. Obsidian has become lord of the buggy and polarizing sequels. A cursory search will give you dozens of threads debating KotOR vs KotOR2, NWN vs NWN2 (okay, that one's a bit of joke), and Fallout 3 vs Fallout: New Vegas. Obsidian is a hit and miss developer (moreso than most). Arcanum 2 by them would either be utterly amazing or an unplayable mess.

Blizzard. Blizzard has more than enough money to blow on another game series. Once Diablo 3 and the remaining 2/3 or Starcraft 2 are out what will they have left to work on? Blizzard has mastered every gaming genre they've ever tackled, so I don't think it's stretch to think that they could create a solid sequel to Arcanum.

Bioware. Well why the heck not?

KotOR 3

Why? As a veteran of WoW, WaR, AoC, Lineage 2, and Guild Wars I can say unabashedly that MMOs suck and are blight upon gaming especially since everything is a knock off of WoW which is a knock off of EQ. If someone can make an MMO that isn't a grindfest, more power to them, but I'd rather pay once for my game and not have to deal with hordes of immature idiots with an infatution for 1337speak. With that sad, <explicit> you Old Republic and <explicit> you Bioware for making that game instead of KotOR 3. I doubt a single fan of those games was pleased to hear that KotOR 3 was ditched in favor of yet another gorram MMO and I refuse to call them RPGs because aside from Age of Conan not one of those games can really be called an RPG.

Will it be made? Hahahahaha, no. Maybe by Obsidian, but I seriously doubt it. Oh, and because I forgot to mention it earlier, <explicit> you Lucasarts.

Edit: These two aren't sequels, but hey...

Warhammer 40,000 RPG

Warhammer RPG, I adore the Warhammer setting. It is easily my favourite fantasy universe (sorry TES, but Oblivion soured you), so where the heck is damn RPG for this game? The biggest issue I see in making a Warhammer rpg, is where to set it. Warhammer is possibly the largest fantasy world and setting it in certain areas would really limit what you could do. Oh well, here's hoping.

With that wall of text over, what games would you like to see sequels for?

Freedom Fighters 2

Otogi 3

Any of the Baldurs Gate/Champions of Norrath games. Need more co-op (action) rpgs. Single TV, 4 friends, 1, keg, and lots of snacks = good times.

Beyond Good and Evil 2

Oddworld: Strange Wrath 2

Kabuki Quantum Fighter 2

Front Mission that goes back to being a turn based mech game and not an Admored Core type game.

Gladius. The best game no one ever played

But no. Lucas would rather continue killing the dead horse that is the Star Wars franchise.

EDIT: Another Mech Warrior, but supposedly someone's making one. I just hope it's more Mech Warrior and less Mech Assault.

Sacrifice 2.

A new and proper Seven Kingdoms, and not that junk from last year.

But in the end, the problem with sequals to your favourite games.... They might just ruin your fondest memories.

Brutal Legend:

Why? Because it's awesome.

Will it happen? No, no it won't.

Splatterhouse (2010)

Why? Because the game is among the goriest on the market, it's awesome, and the ending leaves it almost neccessary to have a sequel, unfortunately.

Will it happen? It better, as I said the ending in the first one was disappointing as hell.

Sure the story didn't need a sequel, but surely a game in the same style and setting with some new characters would be worthy wouldn't it?

This is problem that I see a lot with games these days.... No one can let something rest when it's done, theres to many examples out there proving that sequals often do more harm then good.

I don't know. Nameless's story traversed the Planes (limited as the game was), time, and
the storylines of various characters. I don't really want something like Ender's Shadow

I just want to add to the comments about Torment, the planescape setting had so many things you can do, I think a totally different story line with new improved graphics would be excellent.

But I would want them to go to Mechanus (home of the modrons) and Ysgard (home of the Norse pantheon) this time.

Oddworld (supposedly in the works)
Battletoads
Earthworm Jim
Chakan The Forever Man
Legend of Dragoon

As compared to the infinite layers of the abyss? The unending mountains of Celestia? The never-ending cogwheel cities of Mechanus? The bottomless, windswept caverns of Pandemonium? And that's just four of the sixteen alignment oriented planes, there's also about that many elemental planes, the outlands, Sigil... I could go on forever with all of the un-ending sourcebooks for various realms and planes within DnD. And most of these are pretty much infinite in size.

I always thought that DnD had an extremely creative approach to the hells and the heavens having different layers ruled by different beings with their own politics and quirks. I played a campaign where we traveled through the nine hells and it was very interesting. I have never seen anyone develop that much information about hell and heaven. Yes, they are polar opposites, much like christian beliefs, but that really is where the similarities end.

I would like to see a new version of Ogre Battle 64! Man that game is so amazingly addictive. It just has so much content, so much flavor. I love it, so much that, when I could no longer find it for sale, I got my hands on an emulator...and it is the only game I play on it ahahaha. It's also worth pointing out that DnD existed before video games were sophisticated enough to have anything that could really be called a plot so it shouldn't really be that odd that a concept that's existed for 2000 years has been done to death in just about all media forms. DnD doesn't really revolve around a heaven hell concept anyway. It's a little more expansive than that.

Frontier/Elite (no MMO)

U.F.O.

I'll chime in on the Baldur's Gate thing though I wouldn't mind a different setting

Masters of Orion (3 was a travesty)

Shadowrun (maybe a cross with GTA, hovercars for the win!!)

A new Mechcommander while we're at it.

I'd love a:

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos 2 - Perhaps made by different guys. Concept was sound; lack of customisation, balance and re-playability killed it. If you can fix those then you're good.

Chromehounds - Awesome game online; sucky offline. Lack of support for it killed off our squad online and Single-Player is not only tedious and boring, but also completely pointless.

Battlefront 3 - The first two were great games, a third could only get better or be a complete flop and mark the true end of the series instead of leaving it hanging on a good game.

Games that need sequels

My list is very short, I usually am happier for games to end than continue to a new volume.

Thief 3 - With Garrett's apprentice as the main character.

Anachronox - Just as it left off.

Risen - Just as it left off

Mech Commander 2 - New campaign.

Games that require remakes, not sequels, not for any fault of the original other than age.

Master of Magic - I am suprised noone has done one, its still the best in genre.

Darklands - Gem of a game suffering for being rather old.

I was beginning to think no one played any of the games on my list. Chakan The Forever Man was a really awesome game. Maybe a sequel in the style of Demon's Souls would be good. Heck Chakan was one of the first respawn games.

Well diden't see anyone else writing it. But i have always been a major huge fan of Baldurs Gate series! So a new Baldurs Gate would just be epic in my world <3
Almost completed them all. Except Throne of Bhaal i am at the last boss and she is so hard to kill :/ tryed almost everything.

Umm another game would be... Well i think the only game i would wnat a sequel of is Baldurs Gate ;D

Where is there to take it? The Baldurs Gate characters end up as a demi-god + retinue, or equivalent depending on what your choices are. Bioware took that game from level 1 to the final possible conclusion of epic level D&D. I agree it was awesome and wish there was more but sequels are not the answer.

Frankly I would like to see an epic campaign done well covering the classic Greyhawk adventures: Hommlett, Temple of Elemental Evil, Slavers, Giants and Lolth. No 4e abomination please.

Different characters? New story? Personally I would love to see the same type of game but with a different city. Something like Waterdeep. It would be pretty cool to go through all the levels of Undermountain in a Baulders Gate type game.

Since Baldurs Gate there have been plenty of Forgotten Realms games: Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale both count here. So the call for a 'sequel' has already been answered.

Compared to something like the Dungeons and Dragons Forgoten Realms maps the warhammer world is tiny and setting games in small areas of it has worked in the past for RPGs. Baldurs Gate, Never Winter Nights etc.

Baldurs Gate 3 incedently would be my choice.

How is Warhammer small?

I never said it was small. I said it was tiny compared to the forgotten realms map, which it is.

Besides the fact neither really follow the gameplay style of Baldurs Gate, both of these games are getting on ten years old now, I think the call for more games within the Forgotten Realms is a good one. It's most detailed fantasy setting I've ever come across (and no I'm not a DnD fanboy, never played it), and I'm comparing that to LOTR among others let alone Warhammer. I would wager a bet that if Bethesda or Bioware had the rights they wouldn't be making Dragon Age or Oblivion, they would be making Baldurs Gate.

Having played 4E since it came out with my buddies, I would love to see a game based around it. It would be easy too, as the table top game has basically already layed out character development, all the developer would have to do is add worlds and quests, and call it a day.

Some games I would love to see with sequals would be.....

Starwars Battlefront 2: Despite its faults SWBF II was one of the most entertaining and fun games to play with friends, Im a big SW's fan so I enjoyed it by myself as well. I would love to see a PS3 sequal with more worlds, more vehicles and larger battles, please not another PSP game, their fun enough but I cant stand the tiny screens.

Rome Total War: Rome was my second favourite TW game, possibly 3rd depending on how Shogun 2 goes. Rome wouldnt need much of a change, maybe just better graphics and a few more units.

Bioshock 2: The Bioshock series is my favourite game series to date, I love the atmosphere, the little nods to the subject matter which inspired them and most of all the character of the city revealed by not only its citizens but also by the blood scrawled on the walls, the manic messages , the audiologs, the monuments to greed, the monuments to the Utopia, the sounds of a whale, the booming of a Big Daddy or the disturbingly cheery advertisements which continue to echoe throughout the corpse of a city. I love everything about these games, Bioshock 2 even managed to improve the combat and the hacking system which compared to the first game are superior.
Im super excited about Infinite but so far it not a Bioshock sequal, considering it happens before Andrew Ryan even founded Rapture, before he even came to America. Im deeply intrigued on where this is going, Columbia seems to have the same charm of Rapture but also with the underlying tone of something has gone wrong. Who knows perhaps the two city's will eventually intertwine their stories, considering we know very little about the world outside of Rapture. And if its anything like Ayn Rand's world in Atlas Shrugged then its definately not like our world.

Dawn of War "the original series": I whinge about this alot but I hate MODS, all I want is one more expansion with Daemon Hunters and Tyranids.

Mischief Makers-Most underrated N64 game ever

Sins of a Solar Empire and Homeworld as people have suggested

A 2D old skool Castlevania game would be nice too, the new MP game seems to gimmicky

And finally Call of Duty, I think it's about time we get a sequel for that game. I mean seriously guys the wait is getting ridiculous.

And for the totally opposite I think Final Fantasy should STOP making sequels, or at least stop numbering them. By the time you get to like 6 using numbers sounds silly. Take a break guys.

Timesplitters 4 - mainly for the fact it was the best damned game for single player fps fun.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 - loved both the previous titles, still can't believe it hasn't seen light of day on the current batch of consoles.

Warsong - The first strategy RPG that made me sit up and take notice on concoles. Think it's called Langrisser in Japan, not 100% but it needs a new one.

Darkstalkers - Yes its awesome Morrigann and Felicia are in MvC3, part of the reason I'm getting it. But, seriously, what's it been ten years since a last proper Darkstalkers title. Boo, hiss Capcom.

SSi, pretty much anything by then could do with an update, or at least a Arcade download title. Panzer General, Allied General, Various D&D titles, Roadwar 2000, too many to contemplate.

Damn you Ubisoft, access some of the SSi back catalogue won't you!!

Its not just me that wants it. Loads of peeps want it. All because it didn't sell very good, which is a shame as it was a fantastic game.

Also while im on the subject, wouldn't mind seeing a sequal to Okami thats not on the Nintendo DS. The graphic style was amazing, and I think the DS wont be able to pull it off as good as a home console. So come on Capcom, you know you want to.

How did I miss Republic Commando? >.<

I remember the first time I met a super battle droid:

"Prepare to die! *unloads clip of every weapon I can find but the droid still won't f&@%ing die, so I resort to dancing around it stabbing it with my knife*

Once you got EMPs and the launcher add-on for your rifle it got easier, but they were still arseholes if they appeared at the wrong time.

Droidikas could've been harder though. All I needed to do was run up to it and repeatedly stab it in the face.

The start of the game was quite unqiue though. A lot of other games i've played have a small intro and then you're fully grown and battle-hardened; even Halo had you in a cryo-chamber all ready and waiting. RC had an explanation of the cloning and how soldiers and commandos were created.

Despite being made in 1994, it remains the best subsim in existence. All it needs is a graphic overhaul and maybe some form of attribute system that you develop over time for your commander/crew/U-Boat.
