My carnifex model is what got me into Tyranids, and I've been adding to it ever since. When the new codex came out, I had to tear it apart because its set up was't very competitive, and this is what it looks like now.

Lovin the ork warboss and nurglenaughts! Will vote and comment in a sec

Black backgrounds are great in that the don't leave you with the " Wait, this is not how it looks in real life" syndrome that white can cause. My digi cam washes colours or alters them significantly with a white backdrop, and I don't like having to tweak images to make them look like the real deal. Black avoids this for me completely.

The background is a piece of black Velvet. Velvet is great as it does not reflect light whatsoever, so you can have a really nice lamp setup for your light source without ruining the deep blackness of the velvet.

Even black models can be shot on it as they don't absorb the light the way the velvet does, so are rarely muted by it /ends thread hyjack

Wow more good stuff today, thanks everyone, I have enjoyed seeing things people have shared, I have never seen any of this before! Great stuff! I have liked revisiting this thread this week!

EVER since the chaos possesed marine kit came out I have wanted to see someon do a raptor unit with the demonic wings! That is just fantastic! I really like it and I figured it was doable but I have never seen even one completed example since the kit came out (well of a whole squad) awesome!

That Ultramarine army is huge, holy cow.

Evolvingeye, I like those angry thermal terminators, the lava effect is imposing, not very standard a paint job, in a great way.

EDIT: Heres an old custom captain of mine, a very simple equiped model with a bit of flash:

I love the Reaper guy though. I've been meaning to pick one up one day. The emblem on his chest could do with being picked out a bit more though, IMO.

Depends on how you do it. Painting in many thin layers with yellow is actually easier than with as lot of other colors. And the airbrush (which I just started using so my figures above were not airbrushed), is the great leveler.

I'm not the best painter but these are some of my favourites

These are the Kindred from Hasslefree. Lovely models and a nice simple colour scheme. I feel these look great and were fun to paint.

I really like the strength and power of this model. I'm happy with the subtle conversion which didn't lose the power of the Avatars of War Beastlord. Paint jobs not the best but its passable on the table top.
The Nefarius Clone is one of those models I defy anybody to dislike a Rackham piece from when they were on top of their game. I'm delighted I've worked out I can use it as a Penitent Engine.

Its not the Limited Edition one - wish I had one though

The army wasnt built all at once - its been on-going since 2003 though. There's another 20 terminators, 3 attack bikes, thunderfire cannon, forgeworld rhino and 3 more dreads on the work-bench that arent in the picture.

Its 5th Company by the way.

I'm going to add another of my favorites. This is my Redemptionist Cult from Necromunda. It's not completely finished and it saw only a few games before I moved out of the area I was living in at the time. I've never found anyone to start up another game with (although that might change if I lean on my current gaming group enough... ha).

Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Wow! I'm really liking that DP's MASSIVE sword!

Dread looks real nicely painted and the pose is awesome

Heres a Vampire Count I painted a while back as a one-off

One of the last pics I took before I headed off to college for my spring semester. Obviously still WIP, but I was proud of them nonetheless
I called these dudes the Frenzied Four. I hope to get some more of the RT style marines over the summer. : )

Hey folks, one of my Chapter Masters of the Bone Ravens
This is before I switched from my 'lumpy' GW paints lol (his skin is a bit gloopy lookin but I really like the washed out eye sockets personally.

And the Sgt from my 1st Tactical Squad.

Cheers,

NC.

Edit: Yeah I know - my photography/lighting needs some work!
