I apologize for the ugly pictures, my real camera with the supr macro is locked in a desk... moving furniture around for a flooring job in my condo... Automatically Appended Next Post: see, the Exorcists run two extra companies of scouts because of the extra nasty things they do to become marines (like being possessed by a daemon for twelve hours). SO the army is scout heavy, with some hidden teleport beacons and that's when the proverbial ishtay hits the anfay
Automatically Appended Next Post: also, some fluff i read said that the Exorcists didn't have very many Devastators in the Badab War... so the one squad I use, im making them all helmetless and very grizzled looking... hardcore guys who eat concertina wire and poop napalm...

and the Sergeant of the Devs. It's one of the marines that came with the paint set. Added a bolt pistol, hacked out the extra bit of arm and the stud for the ultramarines shoulderpad. Added the chainsword from the Dev sgt sprue. Will add the signum after painting. Still need to shave off the tactical shoulder emblem, use green to clean up the hole in his belly (where the boltgun was meant to go) and the hacking around the holster. I liked the laurel on his head, which is why i went with this model.

Interesting. Might be something I could do for a veteran sergeant in a vanguard squad... or maybe just his helmet in the yellow, old school like in that picture.

well, i thought it was a bit sneaky. The snipers with the camo cloaks get infiltrated into a very deep cover position, and then the tech marine bolsters defenses on that cover. 2+ invulnerable save, Telion gives the BS6 to the Missile Launcher. Im a touch worried about hordes, but... we'll see.

Right... I need to really look at the weapons to see what I want to do with them, can't get too creative when you're holding a plasma cannon. I figured the whole army will be posed dynamically, so the Dev's having personality via their armor, markings, and faces but not being too dynamically posed (because of course, if you're moving, you can't shoot!) would be the way to go here.

You can get the Mk4 helmet from the FW mk4 armor kit, FW red scorpion kits (hint the assault squad kit has no scorpion marks aside from shoulder pads and only one jump pack.), The Blood Angel Death Company box has an easily removable chalice on it, or the Black Templar upgrade sprue.
Also on the subject I like your missile scout.

I really like that... I won't steal any of your Exorcist juju! I have a Beastman Ungor command sprue coming. Has some awesome skulls on it. Some will lose their horns to make Exorcist shoulder pads and symbols. I'll then try casting them in Green, maybe resin if I can figure it out. FYI, there are some librarians that have a nice horned skull symbol which works.

I'd take the top left base and develop it a bit more colour wise. Vote based purely on the fact that I think red marines look very dynamic on ash waste/urban bases.

Thanks, I intentionally put two "edges" together to make a real seam. My favorite is the bottom right, with the brown drybrush and Tallarn flesh highlights... I'm almost thinking I could do the brown and tallarn over the different other bases (the one with gold flecks and the concrete) so there is a lot of subtle variation.

Umm, personally I use Gale force 9's grey stuff atm, I used to use a mixture of yellow/blue milliputt with greenstuff.
In the uk its £5-6 for green stuff which is 20g and £8 for GF9's grey stuff which is 100g. Works just just as well although there is a slight re-learning curve with it i found.

Not yet, I've been trying to get them all to gaming standard, and then I'll start doing the highlights on some low level characters, practicing until I feel I am ready to knock out the Captain and Champion. The champion is looking cool, I'll get you guys a pic soon. Only minor gripe, I'm not a fan of the combi-flamer having the flamer nozzle upside down...if you follow me? Still, it does look good on the whole, but it just leaves me slightly uneasy.
Also did you magnetise your Dev Squad in the end? I'm currently in the middle of painting a magnetised Dev squad ( BA), so I need to know who I'm sharing a spot in the multi-verse with.

Since 6th edition added Allies, I'm now working on some IG, the Banish Planetary Defense Force. Catachans with dark brown camouflage to work well with the mineral rich muddy terrain I'm working on.

Sounds funky. Curious to see how the brown camo turns out.

The odd thing about flamers is that a lot of the fluff says promethium is pyrophoric, so there really isn't much need for an ignition torch in the first place (except in low-oxygen environments I guess, but then how well would it burn anyway?)
But yeah, as far as I'm aware there's no real reason an upside down ignition torch wouldn't work, it just... looks really odd, especially the torch's feed tube sticking up in an arc like that.
By the way, if you're after more Mk.IV helmets, I'm 99% sure there's one on the black templar sprue - you should be able to snag those on ebay pretty easily.

I love the gloop in the craters. Any chance you could divulge as to how you did it? I've been wanting to do something like that for some of my scenery but I couldn't figure out how to do it. Apart from that these are really awesome models. Hope to see more soon

There's random bits of Citadel washes between the layers, some brown, some green. Automatically Appended Next Post: coyotius wrote:Nice work Chuck...very icky terrain, in a good way. Following this thread and GiraffeX's as well.

Hacking up Dark Vengeance bikes... no stinky Dark Angels for me!
Oh jesus, weren't those ravenwing symbols on the front wheel armor an absolute pain in the ass to file off?
I'm totally gonna yoink that idea to cover the scarring in some greenstuff from ya, that's genius. Keep up the good work!

If you have a blade with a chisel tip, it's not so bad. Then I use the liquid green stuff just like it was a real bike fender with scratches. On a real bike I'd use bondo But we don't really need it to be that smooth Liquid green stuff, wait overnight, sand it down... almost like it never had the DA crap on it. Of course this isn't so easy on rounded surfaces like shoulder pads. Those Tactical Marines are going to eBay... except the Sgt, he's sweet. Automatically Appended Next Post: Lucarikx wrote:Hi!
