Now folks wanted to see the work done on the minis for the characters I have listed in my fluff, and here I have "Ogre" the big Melta gunner with his "back-up" melta. Next to what will be "Father Orlov" Painting the melta is what I need mostly for Ogre, and well, a bottle of vodka, some green stuff for the arm, as well a s beard and then paining the big priest. That is an eviscerator I made from a sentinel close combat weapon btw.
[/img]

Lamp on.
[/img]

Now the priests' back, showing some of the eviscerator and Ogre showing off his pride and joy!
[/img]

Holy Aquila(Rosarius) and spare Melta shown well, Meltas are big!

AHHH!
cool minis! how will you paint the Orlov charcter? i pictured him as a standard catholic priest in black robes with a bit of golden detail...maybe a bit purple?
quite a fitting weapon the sentinel chainsaw! and it is doublebladed so to speak^^... will he be bald or with a hairdo?

and for "Ogre" i would suggest making a strap for holding that huge melta in place on his back.i would also consider giving ogre some sm shoulderpads as this would bulk him out further...

Post by: shasolenzabi

I smoothed away his hair, as he is Bald but with a beard! (I have plenty of Gray stuff) I had to chop the shield and mace the mini had, and will make the left arm look aggressive, and holding a bottle of battlefield "strovichnaya" made from a altered mortar shell^^ I have a nice set of images from the "Blood of Martyrs" for the colors of his vestments, his armor will be pretty flak armor-esque. The majority of the ecclessiarchal robes are white, that is a bit bland and doesn't really work well for battle, but red is Adeptusd Mechanicus or Redemptionistic, and he is by no means a redemptor with his drinking and liking of the ladies. I will likely use what I have to make his robes look like white linen, and make some sort of colorful edging.

Ogre has a left arm SM pad already. And again Gray stuff to the rescue! (strap for the weapon) ^^

Oh, and purity seals for the good father as well!^^

Post by: Viktor von Domm

yeah purity seals all the way^^ i could also imagine a foliant resting on his other arm...hmmm as for the robes i guess then a very stained robe then...gruby as hell... i bet he is so faithful a servant that with all his sewrving for the emperor he forgot the use of soap alltogether...^^

is greystuff more expensive then greenstuff?
and the shoulderpad had escaped my look as it is in camo alredy and hwo expect that on a shoulderpad of Sm at all^^

Well, I will let you see for yourself what happens to him next.

Gray stuff in the amount I got it was 17bucks for large tubes of it from Gail Force 9

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Gray stuff works well, here the strap and the beard are added, some arm armor and the "Bottle"
[/img]

Beard, purity seals and booze for the Father of battle
[/img]

Here you can see the power hoses, purity seals, and his hair and beard from a different angle
[/img]

And his holstered autopistol(think las pistol but with bullets)
[/img]

[/img]

This captures his beard and all his glory!
[/img]

Ogre is packing his second gun via a strap with buckle.
[/img]

Paint started Black primer for his armored form, and then a base of "Bleached bone"
[/img]

Now for some flesh tone basics.
[/img]

Hope these hold folks a while, my sculpting skills are rusty as you can see, but more practice will make for smaller and better buckles!

Post by: Viktor von Domm

so firstly congrats for the nice and very fitting beard...he looks absolutly the part!

did you build the bottle from a mortar grenade? cool idea but to me it needs a bit more fleshed out in the lower part (loss of word here)
if you are aiming for a longnecked bottle you hit the nail...otherwise i would cut the neck a slight bit...but this is rather personal taste...
the autopistolholster is for my taste a bit to thick...but then i dont know how thick the grey stuff tends to be and if it can be spred thinner...with what tools do you work the material? i use currently dentist tools...(urgh^^) but they help a lot...in short time i hope to get me some color shaper tools...the ones with the soft silicone tip...this will provide my rise on the next level^^ of sculpting i hope^^

the strap could be thinner i give you that... but this could be mended a twofold...i guess the stuff is cured totally? then you could probably either file it down a treat to get it way slimmer...probably with a dremel to get speed ...
or you could poke small dents/holes in the material to make it look like a chain that is the strap...with a very small drillbit this might actully work... as i understand grey stuff is very strong after it is cured...

but all in all a very cool work you pulled off there...
this will go a long distance and as of orlov you will be very proud of him when finished^^

Nice!
I'd prefer one the old hip flasks myself, but that's just me.
I'd imagine orlov as having grubby brown robes, much like friar tuck.

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/03/13 18:58:29

Post by: Viktor von Domm

nope he will have gruby white robes^^ and for a big man like orlov the hipflask wouldn´t do... that be just one gulp...and then he would raid his next fellow guardsman for a second gulp...

BTW I like the camo on ogre.

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/03/14 02:48:10

Post by: shasolenzabi

Vik: Yeah, the size of the auto-pistol is ridiculously huge and clunky, and that makes the whole thing look like that.

My sculpt skills will improve with time. I can likely get some smaller size to the gray stuff once it is cured, otherwise when soft it tries to rip away..

Probably have to go back and eventually rond the bottom more, but it would make for a very stable bottle with such a flat bottom like that. And yes, I was shooting for a tall necked bottle!^^

Shrike: Ecclessiarchy robes are white, but you may notice some brown at the bottom with the next pics to come.

Thanks, that is the Khadrovian Hard armor camo.

holy....that red is looking cool to the white^^
did you do something to olrov holster? it looks now a bit smoother... maybe the paintjob did that...paint can do wonderful things...

although i have to say i quite like the way you built up the blond hair/beard of him i have to say in your stories i pictured orlov as a blackhaired man...but i think you have now a nice twist of an angel there...angel gone bad^^... with a vengance^^

for ogres meltas i think the muzzle could do now with a verrrry dry drybrush action again over the muzzles sooted parts so to break up the dark effect just a tiny bit.... afer that then some washes and you will be perfect! for real! only a bit lessen the red of the "mag" of the melter...it is quite yelling now^^

by the way... what model was rlov in the first place? got a linky there for us?

Just making him in priestly colors is all. I smoothed the holster a bit then let the paint do the rest.

just goes to show that one never knows what one will find about a person or character!^^ Yeah, a dirty angel!

I will try some adds on for the melta to dull it down a bit.

Here we go, took time to find the cleric he was made from.

did you freehand the aquilla on orlov? really good work^^
will you now aply washes to him? a bit of devaln mud to blend the mud on the robes with the robves itself better? and a bit to dirty it all over^^

i don´t really know what color meltasstreams might have so for now i take your word for it to be blue^^ and i just realized now that you have used secend edition SM arms on ogre...left and right...didn´t see it before...the unpadded one looks really good and could be just the thing to use for DIY stormtroopers...now there is a thought....

and by the way... the good night shot jut revealed to me how good ogres shades are looking both thumbs up mate^^

Actually, I used a knife to make another Aquilla, but it looks like as if it is so old that over time it has been fading, so it could be mistaken as writing in the pattern of another Aquilla. A relic of faith as it were!^^

May I introduce "Inspector General"=Lord Inquisitor of S.C.H.M.E.R.T.Z. Mikhail Illyavik Romanov.
[/img]
He has been the subject of an experimental program, wherein he has had some of the implants that a Space Marine would receive, but not the same hypno-doctrination. This program was made possible by special dispensation of the Dragons Errant Chapter Master Behamorr. This way they can have a fighting chance against some of the things they come across. He is equipped with Power Armor, a Bizon pattern Storm-bolter, a Force sword, and storm shield as well as frag and Krak grenades and a rosarius. He is Iron Willed, and can have access to Inquisitorial level psychic powers if chosen. Considering his penchant it is less likely for him to do so, He will be waiting to fight as he helps lead the Khadrovian Armies with his retinue.

the people demand moooaaaaarrrrr pics of this next to inquisitor kind of character!
on what mini is he based?
is that a chaos shield or elven?
cool idea to make your own stormbolter out of two regualr bolters... looks really to get a lot of respect from enemies and allies alike...tho one thing: the makarow is a very puny tho officer issue design...
can i make a suggestion? i would use the term bizon pattern...this would sound a lot cooler and it is too a russian design name...also a bit more up to tge design of the bolter in my book...
please make a pic with better lights as much of this fine mini is lost due to light...

More on the way!^^ He is a Reaper Crusader lord
His actual shield, I will likely add more details later.

hmmm i really begin to fall in love with reaper minis....seeing how cool an inquisitor loks like and now that my GS skills are developing i may get myself into doing one myself too...i stil have an emperors champion surplus.,..do you think this would work for an inquisititor as a base? headswap and some more...?
the pose of the officer i like... the swordarm i have not seen before...

the flash is really not becoming for the minis.... i thought his face was all done already only to see it wioth flash as only basecoated^^

and one big cheers goes out to your gold and other metal colors... this guy is really shiny... in a good way!

oh one further thing... he needs a powerpack and a cable to his sword in my opinion...

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/03/16 09:14:00

Post by: shasolenzabi

Reaper has so many generic minis that can be used!^^
You likely could do some GS+Headswap and make an Inq from such.

The officer came with my Bane blade model.

Yeah, see what moody lighting can hide? I will be making Mikhail with black hair though, it suits his facial expression I think.

Shining Gold+Burnished Gold, and Mithril silver

Oh the force sword needs no cable, it relies on his mind for the power! I have a old school banner poled back pack for him when he is done!

Well, I will have to cut and make a banner for the pole to paint!

Yeah, as long a wielder of a force weapon has not used a psychic power that turn, he can use the force weapon to deal damage if an unsaved wound occurs, they act like power weapons normally, but if the enemy has multi-wounds, any unsaved wound is a way in for him to pass LD check and remove all remaining wounds!

Black with some smallish blue high lights.

Yeah, it was 95USD for me!

Either thast or Badab black? but another layer of Devlan mud may work, and well, Orlov is an angry Father when it comes to battle and imbibing booze.

You mean the new cron-recruits? they are unfinished so no worry about anything damage wise. Until they get to stage like Orlov or Mikhail, Then I worry about those paint jobs.

I suppose a light coat of pallid flesh over the Dwarf flesh would help make him seem less choleric looking.

It is a modified "I" like the Inquisition has.

Hmm, well, I suppose I could assemble a circus like retinue for him! And make a Grot into a human of that size to play Knick-Knack. Ya know, shave the ears, color him in human colors, clothe him better, and have him bring a tray with a bottle of amasec on it.

BTW, more tankl pics as well.

and i did understand what it should look like that "I"... just wanted to get a bit deeper in the processmaking of something cool looking...

Thanks Shrike! Pig Iron Heads on scout bodies would make unique troops.

LOL! Amasec is the 40k version of Cognac!^^ Distilled from wines.

Khadrovians hate Orks, that is why the Grot would be made more human.

Ah, that "I" is the housing for the electro-field for that storm shield!

i would still use the bulky bodies of orks with headswaps...maybe some flagelants...to give that dumb/mad look and so you would have bulky bodyguards on the cheap...lil greystuff work on them maybe some tabards as well and they would be good brusers for an inquisitor...

by the way... a bump in my steamy thread would be nice^^

pig iron militia heads + scout bodies (with shotguns) = inquisitorial henchmen/retinue.

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/03/17 22:51:05

Post by: shasolenzabi

Vik: you got bumped. And yeah, Orks may make good vat muscled up-grade bodyguards, with human heads, but they still look odd at the hips and legs section.

Shrike: Yep, they would look like privately raised militia for the Inquisitor.

well that is nice to have a club near your place...i am not motorized and the next best thing would be a lousy shop where they put their noses high for 40k... only warmachine stuff happening... and the GW shop thats next to me is about a 3/4 hour worth of public traffic...i dont have to draw here a pic as to how i ever gonna get the airship (may god provide speed of its completion) to that store...

have you thought something special for his base? and likewise to orlov? well him he could do with a regular footsloggerbase but mikhail could do with something more top nothy i guess...did you use superglue or what to fix him on his base? could you pry him off of it?

cheers, vik

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/03/18 09:06:08

Yeah, Our local store is a 10minute walk down the road fro me. I put boxes in a duffel bag, or for some armies, I have a carrier case.

Orlov has a muddy base already so he is based.

Yep, Mikhail may get a more scenic basing done for him as he is a metal mini and I used super-glue for him, I can easily put him on another base with some sort of "scenery" ^^

well then you can slap your back from a distance from me in a frienldy benevolent way^^ cause it looks really good...

now the tricky part...how will you paint it as the shield is already golden...ummm tough nut...you could go silver...or you could do it purple as the small piece of tabard mikhail already has so to better tie in the shield to his own scheme...would look very food i suppose...

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/03/18 21:01:37

ohhhh... this sounds promising... electric discharges on the surface...hmmm still time to do some small surface work with greystuff? to create a not so even surface? you could do some really small line on the "I" then and after that then you pant the lightnings with a relief to support the style...

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/03/18 21:05:55

If it were easy to find that old commissar cheap no worries, but more than likely, expensive!

Yeah, the female sgt has the great coat and could look commissarial, but Vik is right, the reaper mini is running high with a lot of nice details going for it. One sexy commissar, a hat landed near her feet, her pistol built up to be a las or bolt model, and a close combat weapon at her hip.

[/img]

Getting clearer.
[/img]

Not yet
[/img]

Back and shield, I will sculpt an =I= on that shield. Maybe change her robes color.
[/img]

Her refractor field must have been on or something!
[/img]

Finally! a clear shot of her eyes.
[/img]

So, there is some restoration work to be done for Valentina. But mostly touch ups.

well now seeing her in all beutiful likenesses i would like to see her with a silver streak on her forehead? that would look cool...doens´t have to be actual silver more like white or blonde hair...that would be cool looking.
impressive look and if you add a bit of the purple you used for mikhail the two of them would blend together really well!
i love that gin by the way..., got it one day in a bits box and used it since then on some mini i am ashamed i forgot lol^^
nice eyebrows also, i dont like the trimed down look on modern women thse days... some of the women i see outside have eyebrows so thin ... sometimes even totally shaved of and painted on... urghhh...looks so artificial...so in other words count me as a fan of valentia^^ by the way... too a reaper model?

Nice suggestion, a little color mix for her hair. ^^
She'll be even sexier!

Yeah, purple outside with white lining for the robe part.

The model is in fact a Reaper Crusader mini sculpted by the talented Werner Klocke. I love the way he makes realistic and also beautiful women.

Saw that thread, got some bookmarks from it already.

Yeah Werner is a damn good sculptor.

That model is just...wow...
that's a nice paintjob.
I fear the robe and shield are too similiar in colour, and though I'd normally say red robes, she already has red hair, so...dark green with lighter highlights and a black wash, kind of emerald-colour?

that but not shiny?
just my two cents/pence.

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/04/03 11:22:34

Vik was thinking purple robes like Mikhail.

Thinking about it, that's probably a better idea...matching with her master's colour...yeah, do that.

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/04/03 18:50:42

Post by: shasolenzabi

No worries, she will be done in those colors to match his because she is one of "them" Although her armor is silver with gold highlights.(she has to earn that gold armor)

duh... he a special xeno lover? thats why he has the extra arm to better hug´em?

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/04/05 09:24:24

Post by: shasolenzabi

The extra arm, and the other gear on his back, all part of the beloved augments of the Adeptus Mechanicus! More so he can love a machine and become one with the Omnissiah of that techno-religion!

You really don't want him to hug you with that arm!

I will later as I desire matching her to Mikhail, and the blonde streak you suggested. Justinian will be all Adeptus Mechanicus in colorations.

And where is Valentina you ask? Here she is with the start of her new look!

She seems to have affected the camera crew!

yep see that blone streak shining through....

She seems to have affected the camera crew!

that made me lol quite loud^^

by the way she reminds me now of firestar...:

and even more fellas to join your crew....cool poses on the new guys...and the "I" seems like you really get the hang on doing sculpting work!

by the way yet again... seeing now those smoke lanchers... could it be that they are a bit in the fireingline of the side guns oon the turrets? for me it looks a bit that way...

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/04/07 08:51:54

Post by: shasolenzabi

Well, now that you mention it, she does seem to be fiery tressed afterall.

LOL! I just had to make that spot about her affect on the camera crews.

I zoom forwards, use the smoke launcher, next run, the thing is done and the weapons can shoot low as the launcher is detached.

These were spares I g\had laying around from the massive amount of leman kits that came in the Emperor's Fist tank box for the Apocalypse formation. paid 275 for 400dollars worth of kits at the time when Leman was 40usd a kit. now they are 50 a kit.

gosh you must have had too much money back then...but mind yu to really go ballistic and built lots of tanks would be nice for my taste too^^

I would dare say that with the total combined force of soldiers and tanks of my armies, all totaled, I have a miniature force that would make many small nations envious.

Tau/IG/SM/Ork vehicles. all the CSM/IG/SM/Tau/Orks troops I have.

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/04/07 09:34:05

do i see/read tau...and you never shown nuthin? to us?...shame on you mate!

fixed that for ya^^

Post by: shasolenzabi

Oh, it is a rather large collection, and I would have to get them all out of the box to show, they are also mostly earlier paint works. No worries, there will come a time when they get out to show off. Same for my Orks.

My CSM will shock most as they do not look anything like what you would expect.

i recently saw some lizard slaneeshy CSM s with even a lizard dread to boot... wasn´t offended by them to say the least...
if i ever came across a offline shop that sold reaper minis in my `hood i would probably need to steal some serious money....as i would be packing heavy^^

the mini even looks like you could just stuck the blade to the belt and doesn´t need to add a strap on her shoulders for extra support...... do you think the heels should be sculpted away for flat sensible boot? hmmm.... nawwww...

Khadrovian characters @ 2011/04/07 10:37:27

Post by: shasolenzabi

Gray stuff to add to the boot. The sword would work just attached tot he belt.

still kinky^^, also in close combat i guess you need every edge you can get^^...

imagine this:

kommissar: charge! you fould stinking underserving servants of the emperor!

IG: now there is no need for namecalling you know?

K: ?

IG: yeah you got me right....we have feelings too...*steps closer*

K: fumbles with bolt pistolholster...

IG: *gets even closer...*

K: well then feel this...*drives 9 inch high heel through the foot of said/sad IG....

IG: *slumps to ground and makes bubbling noises...*

Exactly, although to avoid messing up her head, I will have the hat sculpted, and on the ground. Sword at her hip, and a modified pistol.
