From Forge World's Newsletter today.
Apologies if this an old picture/thread, cursory reading of the front page revealed nothing about Forge World Newsletters or PHantom Titans.

Here's the newsletter contents besides the photo: Hi there, With just over a week until the 2011 Forge World Open Day at Warhammer World, we have some exciting news about the first pre-release kit that will be on sale there - the mighty Eldar Phantom Titan! Eldar Phantom Titan on sale at the Forge World Open Day Eldar Phantom TitanTall, slender and elegant, the Phantom is the largest known pattern of Eldar Titan. It is swift and agile in comparison to the lumbering behemoths of the Legio Titanicus, and is armed with some of the deadliest examples of Eldar weaponry. Each Phantom is the pinnacle of Eldar warcraft. Linked to a wraithbone core containing the living spirit of its previous pilots, the single crewman of each Phantom Titan, known as a Steersman, is an Exarch dedicated to this aspect of warfare. Locked in a trance-like state, the Steersman’s consciousness merges with the spirit-sentience of the Titan, enabling the mighty war machine to react and manoeuvre with astonishing speed. The Phantom Titan is most commonly armed with at least one immense Phantom Pulsar, a long range and rapid-firing energy weapon far superior to anything sanctioned by the Adeptus Mechanicus. The Phantom’s other primary weapon is often a Phantom D-Cannon; much larger and more powerful than similar technology used by the Cobra or Warp Hunter, it tears a seething warp-rift in the fabric of reality to engulf and utterly destroy its foe. As well as these primary weapons, the Phantom is armed with shoulder-mounted anti-aircraft and anti-personnel missile launchers as well as an additional heavy weapon; usually a long-barrelled Star Cannon or Pulse Laser. Adeptus Mechanicus logis-engines also record other primary weapons systems that have been encountered in the long history of conflict between the Imperium and the Eldar. The Phantom Titan is the tallest war machine Forge World has ever designed. First showcased at an early stage of development at Games Day UK 2010, designer Will Hayes has now finished crafting this graceful masterpiece. Packed with lavish external and internal detail, including a stunning cockpit interior sculpted by Simon Egan, the Phantom Titan has taken a full year to complete, such is the degree of detail and workmanship that this most impressive model (we can’t call it a miniature!) boasts. The Phantom Titan will be on sale for the very first time at the Forge World Open Day. You’ll be able to admire a fully painted example of this majestic model over on our Studio stand, where Will Hayes will also be explaining exactly how such a project is undertaken. Full technical information and background for the Phantom Titan will be provided in Imperial Armour Volume 11: The Doom of Mymeara along with full rules for fielding what is the single most powerful model currently available in Warhammer 40,000. At the Forge World Open Day you’ll be able to peruse a work-in-progress copy of this hotly-anticipated book on our Studio stand, as well as direct your questions to Forge World’s Book Design team, who are currently working on it. Stay tuned to future newsletters for more details of other pre-release kits that will be available at the Open Day alongside the Phantom Titan and our Forge World and Warhammer Forge show only miniatures. Charity Titan Raffle Update The Forge World Open Day always gives one lucky person the chance to win a mighty Titan for a mere one pound, and this year’s event is no different. The Open Day 2011 Titan Raffle prize will be the imposing, immense, lavishly detailed Eldar Phantom Titan! Tickets for the raffle can be only purchased at the Open Day from the Painting Competition Registration area, and the draw will be made at 3:30pm. Tickets are £1 each and you can enter as many times as you like, although you must still be at the Open Day when the draw is made to win! In light of the recent and on-going natural disasters in Japan, all proceeds from this year’s raffle will be donated to the WorldVision UK Tsunami Relief Fund, a children’s charity currently assisting with relief efforts in some of the worst-affected areas of Japan. You can find more details about the charity at www.worldvision.org.uk/server.php?show=nav.3001&giftId=47. Forge World Events News AdeptiCon Update Forge World’s Stephen Green and Kenton Mills will be travelling to the Westin Lombard Yorktown Centre in Chicago, IL, for AdeptiCon 2011 on 1st to 3rd April. AdeptiCon attendees will be able to admire the immense Eldar Phantom Titan in all its glory, and the crack Forge World team on our sales stand will be taking exclusive advance orders for the Phantom and each of its weapon options. We will also have limited numbers of our Event Only MkIII Armoured Boarding Marine and Chaos Dwarf Hellsmith miniatures, and we can now confirm that we’ll also have stock of the Eldar Shadow Spectres Exarch, Eldar Lynx with Pulsar and Eldar Lynx with Sonic Lance as well as the Warhammer Forge Empire Marienburg Land Ship and Nuln Ironsides Handgunner Conversion Kit If you have any queries about Forge World’s presence at AdeptiCon, please don’t hesitate to contact us either by telephone on 011 44 115 916 8177 or by sending an e-mail titled ‘AdeptiCon’ to Forgeworld@games-workshop.co.uk. Salute 2011 Reservations Now Being Taken London’s ExCel Centre hosts Salute 2011 on Saturday 16th April, and Forge World will be in attendance with a Sales stand bursting with resin kits, modelling supplies and books from both the Forge World and Warhammer Forge ranges. You’ll also be able to purchase our MkIII Armoured Boarding Marine and Chaos Dwarf Hellsmith Event Only models as well as the recently released Eldar Lynx with Pulsar and Eldar Lynx with Sonic Lance, and Warhammer Forge models such as the Marienburg Land Ship. The best way of making sure that we have exactly the models you’re after is to place a reservation for Salute 2011. To do this just telephone the Forge World Customer Service team on 0115 916 8177. You’ll need your payment card details to hand as we are taking payment in advance of the event, and we will also need an e-mail address for you. In the week before the event, we’ll send you a confirmation e-mail containing your order number and the total cost of your order which you must bring with you to collect your purchases. Questions, Can we see this next to a reaver? what's that weapon next to the nipple gem? is that alternate head open or is that just to show the details? when does it come out?

Considering the small one next to it is the revenant Titan and that one is ~12" tall, I expect the Phanton to top 2 feet!
And since the Revenant is ~$300, I don;t really want to speculate on the cost of a Phantom...

I'm kinda iffy on the design of it. Looks good as a stand alone model, but next to the Revenant, it looks like they just upsized the Revenant Titan, took away the boosters and gave it hands.

Still not a fan of the biggerized guardian face and shoulder guards, and also still very attached to the original epic design, but that looks very nice for all that! I feel they could have updated the older head design and not pushed it so hard to truer anthropomorphism with the 'face' and hands... Oh, and the hands... what in the name of jeebus does it need hands for? If those 100 ft long pulsars need physical giant trigger pulling then I consider that a pretty big design flaw lol!
I can hear gunner crews everywhere screaming 'Aim for the fingers!'
Do like the back detail, color scheme in particular though.

I have a Forge World Revenant and I can assure you it will not fit on a 60mm base ( LOL). I bought a round wooden base that is 7 inches diameter and that was perfect for getting an action pose with it. The one pictured by FW is probably roughly the same size.

I almost want to say there's alternate heads. If you look at the inset from this picture:
There's a noticeably different structure to the 'face', where it looks like a skull rather than the standard 'Guardian' face.
But yeah. The head is a bit too similar to the Revenant, isn't it?
Edit was to place the picture into a spoiler; didn't realize it was a photocollage.

That's a lovely looking kit.
More dynamic than the Armorcast model...but for some reason (whilst I love this and will get it eventually), I still slightly prefer the Epic-scale-ups of the Armorcast/Biasi/Epicast days.
I found the "the single most powerful model currently available in Warhammer 40,000" line interesting, as rumour has it that a Warlord Titan is in the works.
From memory, I believe that the Phantom was rated power-wise somwhere slightly higher than a Warlord but well below the Imperator Emperor-class Titan. Can't see them ever making an Imperator, no way no how.
Scale wise, here is a photo of the legs of my WIP Forgeworld Reaver against the Armorcast Phantom model. For reference, the Phantom is 57.5 cms tall to the top of the fins, so I think the FW one may be slightly taller.

Personally, I don't like any of the Eldar Titan designs from Epic, Armorcast and Forge World: They look just like action figures with odd proportions to me. The "fembot" guns (Austin Powers) on the new one don't help. Only exception is the Warlock Titan head (without the body) and the old Armorcast Revenant Titan which looks more like a machine. Happily I own one.

Post by: Powerguy
Man that looks awesome. I'm still crossing my fingers that it won't be too much more than the Reaver actually. Certainly its going to be taller than a Reaver, but in terms of the actual amount of material involved in its construction it probably won't be that much more (as its lithe and streamlined like all Eldar).

Good effort, but an Epic40k upscale has the Emperor Class standing as tall as you.

Post by: Marrak
hmm... given the sheer size of these current models I'm almost hoping for the Heirophant and Heirodule to be relooked at.
The latter, if I remember correctly, was roughly warhound/reaver sized, while the other one used to poke heads with Warlords. Now they're sitting at the ripper/termagant sized when looking at their titan-scale compatriots.
That is a pretty sweet looking eldar titan though. Not sure what the big deal is about the hands/shoulder guns. Honestly the first allows for more easily interchangeable weapon systems (and if you'll notice, it's not like it has a trigger) at the same time keeping a versatile hand (and since the thing looks to be controlled by a single pilot, who knows what the interface is like... it might even be so that the pilot feels more of a link to the body), while the latter allows the limbs to be kept free for mobility rather than weigh them down with heavy or immobilizing armaments.

In Mechanicum they said that emperor titans are absolutly huge, making a scout titan looking like a baby next to it.
So I geus that the emperor titan should be a little bit bigger.

If you want to build a 4 foot titan have at it the standard table is kinda small for that. the scale is skewed in epic each foot can hold a company of terminators in the standard one they hold 51 models.
But this is ot the Phantom looks nice and if anyone in my group get one my two titans will kill it hard core.

That's right. I'm using the size comparison with a warhound provided in it's apocalypse datasheet in order to determine it's height. If you'd like to learn more there's a link to the thread in my signature.
I have to say though, I find it odd that people are quick to point out that space marine artwork gives them wacky proportions and tiny heads, but are even quicker to suggest that emperor titans should be hundreds of meters tall.

Post by: H.B.M.C.
I can see them doing a plastic version of one of their most popular Titans. The Warhound makes the most sense as well as, unlike the Thunderhawk, there are more armies that can use it. Not that they won't eventually do a plastic Thunderhawk - there are more than enough Marine players to justify that. It's just that with the Warhound you add Guard players and Chaos players on top of all the Marine players.

Honestly can't see FW sculpting a $1000 fig for something that most folks could model out of a few plastic garbage cans and toilet paper tubes.
As for the Warhound rumor: This will make fielding full maniples of them a lot more practical, and would further the Apoc arms race quite a bit. The FW [maybe WD?] datasheets that allow Warhounds to actually act as scouts would become a lot more practical and powerful...
And back on the original topic, the Phantom is a thing of beauty, and a good number of Eldar players are pretty impractical aesthetes at heart- so the numbers they sell will probably be decent. I'm very, very tempted to waste this year's tax return on that thing.

Wow, people have really gotten inured to Forge World prices if that doesn't seem "that bad". Not that I've never bought an overpriced FW model, I have, but I never deluded myself that the price was not that bad. LOL.

I think that's cheaper than a Reaver after you consider weapons.

I think I've narrowed it down to why I'm not a fan. Needs more cowbell.

Yeah, about £100 cheaper.

And the Reaver is not exactly priced to move either. I'd love to have one, especially a Chaos Reaver, but I think I've purchased enough criminally overpriced FW models to last me for quite a while.

What kind of price would you be prepared to buy it at?

That is honestly surprising it is so "cheap" maybe it does not weigh as much as the Reaver.

Well, I bought a Chaos Warhound back in 2005 at the Battle Bunker HQ store in Maryland, but I don't think I'd do that again. The time it takes to build these kinds of models as well as the high cost is something I'd like to avoid with so many other projects to do. I suppose if FW suddenly reworked their entire price structure to where a Reaver was equal to or less than a Warhound currently costs I'd be tempted, but even then I'd probably have second thoughts about it because of the time and care these models take. Maybe after I finish painting my Chaos Warhound, Eldar Revenant, two Hellblades and a lot more of the ton of regular GW stuff I own I'll revisit the issue. Those Reavers are really nice looking, but with so much else to work on I can't justify the insane expense.

If you look cloesly at this pictures of the head from the back it kinda looks like the face/head plate comes off to reveal the "skull" and pilot. If I wasn't a low budget gamer i would start an eldar army with this lol.

They're two different heads, actually. You can tell because the skull-faced head has the exact same characteristics as the 'standard' head, just with the blank face replaced by the skull face instead.

oh well in that case, I'd love to see a battle damaged skull faced version. i remember buying the battle damaged gundams back in the day for like double the price and thinking that they were the coolest thing since the self flushing toilet.

Yeah honestly that is much, much cheaper than I was expecting. I mean it is my first Forge World model but man what a beaut.

I'm totally looking forward to the rules for this. Hopefully they'll be as kick ass as the model itself.

My money is still on it being the inside of the head. Just like the revenant, you can open it up to see inside. Just like the warhound and the reavers as well. There is no point in having the pilot being exposed, and seeing how all forgeworld titan have accesible crew compatements, it just makes sense.
We'll all find out on sunday when our friends start posting pics of the event either way.

He's referring to this photo(click spoiler to see it; only photo I readily have is a collage and it's the inset part within the first image).
It's pretty clearly the "inside of the head", and that it opens up to let you see the pilot within.
Now, it's entirely possible that the main 'head' part that we see in the inset is an entirely separate piece, over which the bananaheaded, guardian faced bit locks over.
We'll have to wait and see on that I guess.

Even thought I may not be a fan of eldar personally, I have to say that FW have produced an excellent model, the proportions are much more appealing than the other eldar titans. A great model overall. it seems to be lacking something but I can not place my mind on what it is.
At £450 I know I will never buy it but I am sure there are people who will be prepared to pay to get the model due to its superb detail.

HEY- You hear that Forgeworld? PLEASE make us actually want to buy the pretty model. Bad rules would be an epic fail for all involved.

Event Only MkIII Armoured Boarding Marine and Chaos Dwarf Hellsmith miniatures.
And maybe the Shadow Spectre Exarch, if this is a limited run?
PM me what you think is fair.
Thanks.

Well the question we should be asking is how powerful is the ELDAR REVENANT TITAN??? And maybe we can determine how powerful the new PHANTOM TITAN is.

Post by: H.B.M.C.
It has the POWER OF CAPSLOCK!
*ahem*
Revenants are exceptionally powerful. Two Strength D Lances a turn is a nightmare, and they're so fast and unusually durable than they can cut through most things in very little time. In a pair, as I've had done to me by a friend, they are nightmarish.

It seems that although they are making the guns more powerful versions of the exisitng weapons (i.e. by putting the word phantom in front of them) it's still only got 2 major weapons, which will probably limit the damage it can do per turn unless they have ri-donk-ulous blast markers or numbers of shots. I would hope instead that they've made it considerable more durable than the standard eldar armour, maybe with something akin to void shields, albeit more eldar-y.

Well a Pulsar is already a multiple Blast D weapon, so really the only way they can make it more powerful is to increase the number of shots and the size of the blasts. You probably have to include the chest missile launchers as a main weapon as well actually, and the Starcannon or whatever it is on the chest as well looks a tad big to be a standard weapon. Eldar don't do Void Shields, so expect it to have something crazy like a 3+ Holofield save as long as it moves. Anyway I'm very happy with that price, as I suspected it ends up cheaper than a Reaver because it uses less material. I might even be able to buy it now

I've already started saving for one. My only concern is the condition the resin model will be in. I've not been too impressed with their casting.

Post by: D.Smith
The casting is very clean compared to the other FW models ive had. Very little clean up to be done really, maybe some slight mould, lines but its actually in very good shape with only very minor warping that will only take 2 seconds to sort.
Should be on general sale by Games day UK Will Hyes was saying.
As for some of the rules that i can actually remember,
(hey said they are still likely to be tweaked)
Pulsar str D Heavy 3 blast
D Cannon - str D Heavy 1 large blast
4+ holo field save
D-Cannon ignores void sheilds
12" minimum range for the chest/shoulder weapons vs ground units
AV13 on the front (this is hazy memory but i remember being suprised)
Cannot remember any more specifics but these were the ones i remember and even so, are quite vague as i didnt take pictures, only dragging from memory.
