I really like how chunky they look, but I honestly think they should have toned this down for the axes. The fatness of the choppy bit on them is just visually unappealing. Other then that, it is a job well done.

Not really a fan of the big punk mohican on the dwarves (personal taste caveat) so like that it would be possible not to have them if possible.

I have 200 of mantic's dwarfs, and I'll be ordering a couple of boxes of these berserkers to go with them.
The scale should be pretty good, what a lot of people aren't aware of is that the mantic dwarfs are freaking massive and chunky, a little bigger than the GW dwarfs.
That said, the AoW berserkers look even bigger in places, so what I *might* do is swap out the weapons for mantic weapons and maybe leave off the hairdos just to tone the models down a little.
On the other hand, it's also highly likely that I'll leave them intact just to make them stand out as demented monsters with ridiculously heavy weapons that they use just so they can show off and brag that they can lift much more than anyone else.
It's also a lot easier to ignore the berserkers being a little bigger, simply because they're supposed to be the bodybuilding beefcake psycho nutters of the dwarf race.. the dwarf equivalent of that 6' 4" heavy-built guy standing in the front of a nightclub that you really DO NOT want to mess with.
Really looking forward to the AoW plastic witch elves.. I think it's cool that they're choosing to target the niche GW metal kits that still don't have plastics and are unlikely to get them anytime soon... and when GW *does* release them, they will be £25.50 for 10 models because that's how GW prices special/rare infantry these days.. so a lot of people will still buy AoW even then.

Whoa...cool your jets there buddy. First of all, the AoW painted berzerker does indeed have an orange beard. It may be shaded/highlighted better than the GW pic you referenced, but it is. Seriously.
Also, my comment was only a tongue in cheek remark to Malfred for his equally tongue in cheek remark to KidKyoto. KidKyoto noted the similarities between the two sculpts in a comedic manner, and mentioned Orange beards, although since they were shown unpainted, Malfred jumped in and jokingly corrected him. I just poked back at Malf a little bit when the picture was shown and the beard was indeed orange. It was supposed to elicit a light chuckle.

Love them, does any one have them yet? i have 2 plans for them but for 40l though i am not too sure about their scale.
I want to know what is their arms length, are they the same as marines? i would love to use 2 axes and head to make my Mark of wulfen.
Would love to use the bare chested with their heads and arms with scout legs as "fenrisian wolves"
And i would love to use their arms for simple scouts.
So can any one stand an assembled one next to a marine and a scout please?.

Between this, the Mantic Morgoth's starter box and an old Dwarf regiment I picked up to make into Squats and then never did, I guess I'm building a Dwarf army. Not bad considering I don't play any big-battle fantasy games....

I could be wrong about the heritage of the Slayers, but they seem to be the most original thing that GW has introduced to fantasy Dwarfdom. I think the notion that there's "little new in contemporary fantasy" doesn't really apply here. They wanted to produce a very recognisable GW unit in plastic and they did. There's no lapse of originality, because there was no attempt at originality.
They look excellent, I feel that they are bizarrely niche, especially for a first plastic regiment, but they do look excellent.

yes. But when someone made the variation of "Naked Dwarf with Big Axe, Tattoos and Mohawk" 20 years ago, and it was actually new back then. It kind of raises a red flag for someone else to be doing it now.
Oh I forgot, it's not GW doing it, so it's ok. Because it lets the people that "quit" GW still hang around on the fringes and yell about "quitting GW", even though they've been "quitting GW" for 10+ years now.

In a word? No. Especially when the "Dwarf Slayer" has become pretty iconic in GW's mythos. You know, that whole "Gotrek" thing.

Post by: Azazelx
I'd have thought that dwarf gyrocopters were the most original thing GW brought to the fantasy dwarf concept. Slayers are essentially just Norse-style berserkers with the addition of orange Mohawks (originally not always orange, OR mohawked - they came later as "must haves") and the slayer oath fluff (became an oath-cult later). The tattoos were sometimes referred to as woad warpaint as well back in the day.
