Personally I found the film disappointing, in the same way that Terminator 2 would have been if you'd put all the action parts at the beginning, then killed Arnold and filled the last half hour with Sarah Connor despairing about the impending nuclear holocaust. But it did have some freakin' sweet action, and, getting to the point at last, hot chicks.
So, without further ado, a couple of pics I snagged from Reaper's preview gallery.
These were sculpted by Patrick Keith, who has done a few models I love, some that I hate, and a lot of stuff that just falls in between. I think these are sitting somewhere around the high end of the scale...but the real test will be whether he can do a good Not- Rocket.
They're scheduled for an April release.
EDIT: Prices are now up; they're $5.99 (£4.79) each.
the film was so boring i have tried to view it several times...on the web.... but fall asleep every time... but i think i would like these minis very much... with a little prayer i hope they could release the giant samurais and the clockwork zombies too...also i would just love to get that walker of amber in the first team sequence...

Naughty.
Maybe if you were in the Movie Theater where you are supposed to be, rather than in some comfy chair at home...

Sounds like you actually liked more of the film than you realize!
I guess the miniature wouldn't be the only thing you'd give your rocket lookalike friend Klawz On a serious note the minis don't look that bad, pity the film sucked so much though

Seriously? Did you miss the part about these being based on Sucker Punch? Did you miss the "Girls of Sucker Punch" picture a couple of posts up?
Go troll about women's portrayal in media elsewhere. I hear Soda Pop is coming out with a new mini soon, oh no! Better go harass that thread if you haven't already!
Back on topic, I would love the Samurai to be done, especially in the crispness of those three larger models!

Yep, I hear you.....to be honest, the whole "women being objects" thing is starting to grind.......I'm sorry, I'm a man and I love women....they make me gets jiggy and I likes da feelin.
Seeing a woman in a suit of armour is all great, but guess what, I'm imagining her in her chain mail undergarments....so sue me.
Sucker punch is a combination of stunning visuals and a engaging, occasionally confusing and quite bleak story.
The film tells the story of teenage girl who mother is murdered (?) by her stepfather. He attempts to dispose of her and her sister on realizing they are the benerfiacries of the will, and in trying to save her sister, she actually shoots and kills her.
She is dragged off to an asylum by her stepfather who arranges for the abusive staff to have her lobotomized in 5 days. Despairing and perhaps truly veering into madness her mind drifts into several layers of dream worlds
The first is an equally unpleasant brothel (which to be fair is also an excuse to see the many lovely lead actresses in a variety of hot outfits) where she is to be auctioned off in 5 days.
To escape this realm she also enters another reality where she and later the other girls are warriors on a series of quests - linked to tasks in other realms that they hope will get them out of the horrible places they presently are forced to inhabit.
Confusing - it can at times be. The imagery is stunning, the lead actresses great as are the really nasty people who oppress them.
The music is brilliant, the story is good and surprisingly (at least to me) bleak as it finishes
Excellent work by all involved.
Unfortunately this film was obviously too difficult and challenging for the "Proper" critics to understand and appreciate.............their loss
so they are Russian super models all in the same asylum in full makeup all the time with a hairdresser...and in their imaginations they look the same but their outfit changes and they have weapons and possibly combat training. But given its an asylum full of russian super models with a onsight asylum hair and makeup team maybe they have onsight combat training...
sounds really well written and thought out...anyways!
minis are not bad, love how they kept the realistic russian super model body proportions and didnt go to F or HHH size boobies.
heads very well done, love the military cap on the not amber

So basically what you're saying is you haven't seen the movie?
Anyway!
The minis!
Yes, I hope they complete the line, including a selection of the Baddies too - steamwork zombie Germans?
The girls are all hot because that's how she's picturing herself in her brother fantasy, trying to escape the reality of the asylum.
What made me reflect a lot on the movie is that in her brothel reality, when she's being asked to "dance" she see the act as degrading enough that she has to imagine herself in those insane action sequence.
so if on a scale of 1 to 10, Dancing is 1 and her action sequence is 10... what is she doing in the asylum reality that would bring dancing to 10 on that scale?
It's a rather disturbing movie when you think about it and it's probably what made it so good for me.
Have seen the movie, a bit disturbing and Zak must hate women (no Zak movie without beating, raping and killing women). Too much mistreatment of women to be a fun movie for me, but cinematography is great of course.
Those WW1 Germans look close to DKoK or the Wargames Factory Stormtroopers. If you want WW2 Zombie Nazis, also have a look at Westwind (Secrets of the Third Reich, Incursion), and Darkson Design. Now waiting for a non-Rocket miniature
So... Forgeworld Krieg army with airships and those Reaper minis as an elite unit... and this as a titan?
And I have to add that the Sucker Punch soundtrack is a great buy, and has helped me through several painting sessions already (The length of it is great for a gym workout, too, if that's your thing).

Thats not a dream or alternatif reality...
The Owner-Blue- of this "Asylium use it as a brothel, by taking in only hot looking young girls who ran away, are delcared mentally unstable due to circumstances like Baby doll or even orphans like Sweet Pea and Rocket.
Ms Girvisky is a Brothel tenant/Psychiatrist who for some reasons is owned by Blue.

No...
Its not that she finds degrading to dance, she imagine all of this because MS Gorvisky told her that when she dance, she is in her own world, that she will have all the weapons she need to fight her fears and that she as complet control of it.
Like someone concentrating on a task, where the outside world is non existent to him/her, she does the same by letting her fantasy and imagination loose while dancing.
Wich in the movie is translated by kick ass action scenes.
My only gripe with the action scenes is that Sweet Pea is pictured as some kind of Templar Chick/ Guardian with the armours and sword, but she doesn't at any point of the movie use the goddamn sword!!!

SPOILERS ahead!!
As I understand it:
The Asylum and the Brothel are two seperate worlds - she has a completly different arrival scene at the Brothel (she is taken there by a priest rather than her stepfather).
There is a very strong likelihood that she is abused (or at the very least the attempt is made) whilst in the Asylum itself and perhaps even used as a prostitute (would not be the first time this has occured) but the Brothel is a Nightmare rather than her equally unpleasent reality.
Grivisky has two distinct different pesrsonailties -
1) is a former prostitute turned madam in the Brothel
2) and a Psychiatrist in the Asylum who is the one that calls in the authorities after the labotomy.

This!!! I would have loved some sword action for her. I'm thinking the actress could be badass enough for playing Red Sonja in the upcoming movie... if they finally make it.
One of the best explanations I have read, goes something like this.
-SPOILERS-
In the beginning of the movie you hear Sweat Pea talking, not Baby Doll. Sweat Pea is also the one escaping. Seeing Sweat Pea and Sucker Punch both have SP together with several other hints throughout the movie gives us the hint that not BabyDoll, but Sweat Pea is the main character in this movie. In the end, Babydoll discovers the last item was ultimate sacrifice.
As for the worlds, most common theories are that the Brothrel world is the world that SP is imagening, the fighting scenes are the worlds BD is imagening. The asylum is the reality, where the girls are being abused by the guards (and Blue) in all sexual ways. The brothrel is a way of SP to escape the asylum and his cruelties, where the dances were 'raping' or "love" scenes. The theorie behind this is that BD volunteerd in seducing those guards, having sex with them while the other girl(s) would steal the items in the meanwhile.
These things I wrote are just some quick overview of very interesting and more in-depth articles people wrote on fora. However this 'interpretation' I see most commonly throughout the web. And thinking about it, it makes some sense indeed.
I might want to see the movie another time though, I want to see what goes on excactly in the beginning, just before the 'Brothrel' world begins.
The film is a deconstruction of the action girl genre. When you think about it, what are movies like Tomb Raider, really? Titillation. In other words, not too different from a striptease. The battle scenes are what we see in action girl movies, and the bordello/strip joint is what we're actually seeing. The asylum is where women are more or less trapped due to their portrayal in the media.
It would be nice to see all the figs, but I feel these figs aren't up to what I would want in sculpts. They seem half done for some reason. Maybe just too many really good minis out there, and these kind of pale in comparison. I like they are doing them from the movie....
Spoiler
Spoiler:
My take on it, but there are so many different perspectives. But after her step-father killed her sister (it was not her shot that did it), she had a break from reality. Whether this was after before or after the asylum I'm not sure. But each person was a personality of hers. Each world a little more safe for her. As you notice, as it goes deeper, asylum, brothel, fantasy worlds, each becomes a little less dangerous, and her more powerful. She has become insane, and this is how she copes. There are so many cues and oddities throughout the movie that just make you think more. But to me each personality gives a tool to survive, and lead to her (Sweet Pea) escaping.
I watched it twice with different groups, and after the first viewing you start seeing so much symbolism scattered in the movie. Then you pick up on things like the music running throughout, songs like "Army of Me". The movie really is as deep as you want it to be. I compare it a lot in thematic elements to "Brazil", but with so many more cool visuals. It's a neat movie, but I think you take away from it what you put into it.
There's also a new Patrick Keith "anime heroine" listing in the previews section, but as they've managed to mess the pictures up I've no idea what it looks like. Will let you know when it gets resolved...
Look good, i'll be getting "not Sgt Rock" some good looking replacements.

Anyway, there's a hot load of subtext for you.
It was a typical Zach Snyder movie. Good like a pretzle, but not as calerie filled. Honestly? I saw it and forgot it five minutes later.
It will be up in the 5.00 bin in a month or two alongside "Watchmen".
As bad as Sucker Punch was (Awful beyond words) I am still not surprised to see "not" models of the girls. Some of the design elements in the film were cool when taken separate from the film it's self. Such as giant robo demon samurai....
It was like someone gave a 12 year old boy a few million dollars to do a film with and promised not to tell his mom.
I am all for a movie about mini skirts but by the time the dragon part showed up, I was ready to claw my eyes out....it was just so bad....want...life...time...back...lol.
Oh and on the film - such a great film especially when compared to overated and tedious dross like Inception - the Southpark version is most amusing.......
A little over a month later, we have a not-Blondie preview.
Face doesn't look too great in this shot, but I can't tell whether it's the angle or the actual sculpt. Taken as a whole though, I'd say this mini is on par with the rest of the sucker punch minis.

Scheduled for a july release.
Finally!
I've got the other 4, been waiting for this one to complete the set.
The Dreadnote wrote:Oh, really? How are they in the flesh?
Very nice, though some of them are rather large (Rocket in particular). Baby Doll has almost no substance to her whatsoever (the sword is very thin) and the base weighs more than the model. Here's a WIP shot of the 4 girls.

thats what i use it for to - and theres me thinking im a genius for gyming it to this cd - hahahahah
wish the figs were available in the uk (sans import ££!!)
I just saw the extended cut on blueray, really there's only 1 1/2 new scenes.
The first is the Love is Drug number used in the closing credits, which is now moved to the beginning as a montage of Baby Doll getting used to the brothel. Doesn't add much but is pretty to look at.
But the second is very interesting, it's after Sweetpea escapes, Baby Doll wakes up with the high roller who offers her 'freedom' from everyday life, her cares, etc. It end with her kissing him and cutting to the lobotomy.
there's deleted scenes too but they're on another disk. Hopefully I'll see them tonight.
Some really awesome stuff under that ISC army. I want to buy a bunch of samurais but have no idea what to use them for. Maybe somehow I can make them work with Tau?
It might be kind of cruel for me to post this, as it doesn't appear to be at all for sale, but I found this on Moddler, a high quality 3d printing site:
It seems that this was actually printed BEFORE the movie was made, to help out the art department on the film, so at least it should be super accurate. But that means it's more than likely not ever going to be available from Moddler either.
On the plus side, a casual google search did yield a ton of pretty accurate looking papercraft versions of it, for those of you so inclined.
