Warhammer Forge Newsletter #7

13/05/11

Hi there,
This week’s newsletter contains a veritable feast of new releases, so without further ado we bring you the first of our eagerly awaited Chaos Dwarf kits!

The Chaos Dwarfs possess a mastery of steam technology that would make the Engineers of the Empire baulk in awe. The Chaos Dwarfs fuel these war machines with the resources of their cruel land. Primarily this is a form of coal which is ensorcelled to burn hotter and more constantly than would naturally be possible, but lesser materials such as wood can be pressed into service if needs be, and rumours abound of infernal devices that run on blood, ground bones and screaming souls.

The Iron Daemon is a compact, steam-driven armoured traction engine. Its boilers allow it to haul smaller war machines and munitions to the battlefield, and simultaneously operates pressure-fed cannonades. This means that the Iron Daemon is a powerful war machine, a fully mobile artillery piece capable of smashing down fortifications and hacking apart ranks of soldiers with murderous ease.

The Chaos Dwarf Iron Daemon, designed by Tim Adcock, is a complete resin kit supplied with three detailed crew, sculpted by Thais Mariblanca Lopez. It is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 23rd May.Experimental rules for this deadly war machine, taken from the forthcoming Warhammer Forge book Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos, are available to download now from the Forge World website.

Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard
The Infernal Guard defend the Black Fortress to the death against any who would assail it, and carry out the will of their lord without question. Their ranks are made up of Chaos Dwarfs to which some stain of failure or dishonour has befallen, and in the eyes of the cruel and unforgiving Chaos Dwarf society such a taint can stem from merely possessing blood ties to a failed battle commander, knowing defeat beneath the gaze of a Sorcerer or presiding over slaves who revolt.

Whatever the cause of such dishonour, the Infernal Guard offer the solace of Hashut’s grace in death and anonymity in life. Upon taking the cult’s oath, names and past kinship are shorn away and their faces are sealed beneath hot iron and bronze masks which sear into their flesh. Only if they achieve great glory are the masks removed, exposing the warrior’s scarred face to the world once more.

Drilled mercilessly by their Castellans and barracked in the burning deeps beneath the Black Fortress, only the strongest survive within the ranks of the Infernal Guard and few can withstand them in battle. Fewer yet can hope to break their line so great is their martial skill.
Alan Bligh's Experimental rules for these fell warriors, taken from the forthcoming book Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos, are available to download now from the Forge World website.

The Infernal Guard, sculpted by Edgar Skomorowski, is a detailed resin kit comprising ten Infernal Guard armed with hand weapons and shields. The kit contains ten differently detailed heads, two different styles of body and five individual designs of weapons, each festooned with the brutal detail of the Dawi Zharr. This kit is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 23rd May.

Infernal Guard with Fireglaives
Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard with FireglaivesThe Fireglaive is a compact repeating handgun that also incorporates a single-edged blade that can be wielded much like a halberd. The Fireglaive is a complicated weapon to manufacture, and a difficult one to master, so their use is largely confined to the elite and to the Chaos Dwarf Daemonsmiths that fashion them.

The Infernal Guard with Fireglaives, sculpted by Edgar Skomorowski, is a detailed full resin kit comprising ten Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard armed with these deadly firearms. The kit contains ten individually detailed helmets, two differently detailed and posed bodies and two different Fireglaives, allowing for a great deal of modelling potential. This kit is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 23rd May.

Infernal Guard Command Group
Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard commandCommanded by a Castellan, himself a once-shamed member of the Infernal Guard who has since won glory in battle and earned the right to bear his face to the world again, the Infernal Guard march beneath the cruel iron visage of Hashut, the fell daemon-god of their dark race. The clamour of their iron-shod strides are accompanied by the dolorous pounding of cruel drums.

Sculpted by Edgar Skomorowski, the Infernal Guard Command Group comprises three full resin figures: a Castellan, Standard Bearer and a Musician. The set also contains weapon options for the Castellan which allow the Command Group to be used with both of the Infernal Guard kits released in this newsletter. It is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 23rd May.

Love them! Do we have rules for them yet?

Edit: Just went to the site and they have them under the preorder.

Love them but they're not worth $58 (USD) per 10 to me. They can keep them if/until they're more reasonable.

Pretty sexy, but too expensive to make an army from. Which is saying something for a GW product.

Nothing new there though... FW ain't exactly cheap for ANYTHING... I know, I have a box I just received with a Crassus, a DreadDropPod, 3 sets of Pre heresy armor and a MKIV Ironclad...

Will any of it see paint? Who knows...

So... ya.... I'm an idiot lol

But I am sure there are a few others like me out there equally as foolish with their cash lol

Yeah, dully preordered the command group. Not a fan of the war engine though as it harks back to the olden days of ridiculous design that plagued early GW designs.

I love them though, and hope sales are good enough to justify more AND to get GW to return them to the fold proper, and with plastic support...

If they come out with standard infantry that look as good then I dont care how much they cost, all other projects will be stopped... The lack of Chaos Dwarfs is why I left WHFB and went to 40k.... The lack of detail on the helmets is the best part (creepy)

Their yearly catalog is very aggressively priced. Other than that, I totally agree. They are worth it though assuming you get it without any major defects (which in my case has been the minority of the time unfortunately).

I thought that FW had already said that the Chaos Dwarfs aren't meant to be an army in their own right. I think it ties into the new Chaos army options in the FW book that lets you choose from across the Warriors Demons and Beastmen books and presumably whatever is in the book along with the Chaos Dwarves. I do like these guys though, although the blank helms seem a bit close to the current Dark Eldar trend. My worry is that if people buy these figures at these prices GW might get the idea that they can put old niche armies (like 40k Squats) out via Forgeworld with less support from the game devs and more profit. I mean if GW have a way of doing resin en mass then it could be very easy to do limited runs via FW with that heft FW price tag...

I love those Chaos Dwarves, but at £36 for 10 I just can't justify it. For £10 less I can get 20 Avatars of War Slayers of similar quality (to my eyes) with full command.
Damn shame. I love the Chaos Dwarf background.

Chaos Dwarf infantry looks yawntastic. If they are going to take away the character of a face---at least add some more detail to the helmet...

The "Iron Demon" rocks though.

Agreed on the heads, quite ordinary I feel, the Iron Daemon is quite cool though and funnily enough its rules dont seem "too" OTT.

You might say the helms are too plain, but thats the point. These are dishonoured dwarfs who are punished to the anonymity by wearing a plain bronze helm. Good fluff and nice minis. Chaos dwarfs should have there own codex simple....

True, but there is a fine line between fluff and relatively "ordinary" modelling imho.

I thought FW somewhat more recently said that you *could* field an army of Chaos Dwarfs on their own, rules to be published in...

Death By Monkeys wrote:Um, so what book has the rules for fielding these guys?

Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos

This quote here:

Forge World wrote:

An Iron Daemon can be taken as a Rare choice in a Warriors of
Chaos army that also contains a Chaos Dwarf character with the
Daemonsmith* special rule, or as a Special choice in a Legion of
Azgorh
army.

seems to hint at the existence of a Chaos Dwarf army list...

Chaos Dwarf news thread.... FW newsletter 9, Magma Cannon and Deathshrieker Rocket @ 2011/05/14 00:26:23

Post by: Grimstonefire

Yeah, the Legion of Azgorh is a CD only list.

Not sure at the moment if that literally means CD only and doesn't include the BC and hobgoblins...

Which would imply a second list.

Given that the Infernal Guard can be armed with a lot of weapons they could be a multi purpose core unit in a very restricted list.

I have a feeling that once we see these dudes painted, those helms will be a hell of a lot sexier. The right color scheme and application could shoot these out of the park... I know that goes for any mini really, but I have a good feeling about these!

Heres the links to the experimental rules, for the lazy

Infernal Guard:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/i/Infernal-Guard.pdf

Iron Daemon:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/i/Iron-Daemon.pdf

Btw, the "Contempt" special rule held by Infernal Guard states "As a result Chaos Dwarf and Bull Centaur units are not subject to Panic tests caused by friendly units which are destroyed or fail a Break test within 6" of them, unless the unit that is destroyed or broken is itself a Chaos Dwarf or Bull Centaur unit.As a result Chaos Dwarf and Bull Centaur units are not subject to Panic tests caused by friendly units which are destroyed or fail a Break test within 6" of them, unless the unit that is destroyed or broken is itself a Chaos Dwarf or Bull Centaur unit." This confirms that Bull Centaurs will be in the list.

If you take a Chaos Dwarf character in your WoC army, the Infernal Guard are special, the Iron Daemon is rare.

I can say that the WF (or FW) Chaos Dwarves will have a fair amount of diversity from these guys to the Bull Centaurs, there will be a lot of "uniqueness" to each unit (and the immortals will make a lot of people happy)

These guys have to EARN their right to be accepted into Hashut's good graces, so spikey armour? good beards? No, you got to earn that buddy boy!

The scale armour parts are supposed to be the tie in (that will be the theme)

These are full of win.

With GW's shady "embargo" looming, perhaps FW should get some more love with releases such as this...

Now to wait for the Thunderwolves...

However, an Aussie sculptor has released his own goblins, some which may suit your ideals of Chaos Dwarven Sorecerors and other "counts-as", dependent on what the List specifies.

There is also a Dwerg/Dwergen range which my Google'fu cannot locate, yet I bought a box of them at MOAB.

Then I stand corrected. Please forgive the ignorance, as I haven't been in the hobby for very long, compared to many people on this site. That being said, does anyone think that GW will do much with hashut after this release? I know a fair bit about malal, which they apparently retconned out of existence. Think we'll see a mark of hashut in the next chaos book?

I don't know about that, but FW had said they didn't want to originally since "current techniques would have made Chaos Dwarf infantry that would have been absurdly expensive" in regards to the size of infantry blocks. They said 'things might change' however.

I'd almost prefer to convert from their standard plastic dwarves than put up with all the ridiculous bling the evil ones come with. For that reason, the WF ones are tempting, but I will resist. £3.60 a head is just way too much!

Originally the idea was that all the CD were only going to be available as allies. That "Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos" was to be a two part book, which if successful the second book would cover CD as a stand alone army. All the rumors of CD not being a stand alone army or being ban was only with regard to the "first" book... when GW wanted something smaller and more condensed, saving the rest for the second book. The author of the book left FW and it was decided to just release it as one big book containing the big mix and match list and a separate CD only list.

What we're seeing now is the pre-Tamurkhan book miniature release... there is suppose to be another release coinciding with the book... implications based on progress of models... the other "land train" sections, bull centaurs, and hellsmiths. Post rulebook release we will see hobgoblin wolf riders and hobgoblin slaves.

@Da Boss: Mantic's stuff is definitely not as nice qua sculpting as FW's. But at least they are remotely reasonably in price and, Peter Jackson's LotR/Dragon Age-esque armor on the Lord aside, are pretty well true to the more ridiculous -- er, utterly awesome (I mean it sincerely) sculpts of yore. Then again, if you don't want them then even a reasonable price is much too high.

I'd categorize Mantic miniature's Abyssal Dwarfs as a nicer version of GW's 3rd-4th edition chaos dwarves.

Just a quick shout out... Chaos Dwarfs online is an amazing Chaos Dwarf community that has done alot to keep these evil stunties on life support through years when GW ignored them. They have a thorough library of the history of GW Chaos Dwarfs, models, and plenty of conversion help. http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/index.php

Cool - thanks for the explanation, Aka_Mythos. I'm glad to know that I wasn't imagining some type of earlier restriction on FW doing the CDs. And I'll second the shout out for Chaos Dwarfs Online - they have a tremendous archive of galleries and tutorials of what you can do to build and expand a CD army without having to pay exorbitant ebay prices for the OOP CD models.

Quite gross on GW to imply copyright on a mythical beast!

I love chaos dwarfs, and I'm hoping this leads to an actual WHFB release - I might end up with an army just to paint.

These guys are nice, but it does look like the sculpts are a bit ...plain. I suppose fluff explains that, but still, when you're paying $$$$$$ for a unit, you'd expect a bit more love in the sculpts.

The book sounds fun though, especially if it's solely filled with chaos dwarf goodness. Evilness? Evilness.

aka_mythos from Warseer wrote:From the French GD we now have break down of units for the Chaos Dwarfs:

Core units :
CD Warriors

Dreadquake (earthshaker)
Kdii Monster

zhatan87 from Chaos Dwarfs Online wrote:Hi everybody!
I went to the french GD!
And there are many things to share with you!
I have forgot my camera (damn!!!!), but a friend take some pics that I will share as soon as possible.

1) Miniatures : no more minis than what we can see in other GD, so that I didn't take any pics. Some were lacking, such as the great taurus...
But CD minis are unbelievable : cute, great level of detail.
One of my favourite is the dreadquake!
CD crew are beauty, and the ogre slave is great!

2) I talked with FW people. They couldn't tell me much but what I got :Surprise
To the question of big hat : the taller, the better you are in the CD society.
To the question of hobgoblins : surprise.
To the other ; nothing.
But they said that we shoudn't wait all the entries in the list. So, I assume that they will make monsters and war machines (they have already done them), but if I should bid on something, I will say that no CD core units...

The CD book was there!
Yes I saw it! Not the complete throne book of tamurkhan, but I got in my hands the pdf of the CD list and fluff which will feature into it!
I was so happy
I take some pics, but I couldn't have all the pages of course... But many of them...
I think that it takes 30 to 40 pages (recto). So, I assume that there won't be a separate CD bookSad But, hey, still a CD list in the Tamurkhan book!

3) Fluff : as I wanted to concentrate on the list (to play the list as soon as possible), I didn't take time to read all the fluff, and I didn't take any pic of the fluff part.
But, of what I read, the fluff looks like very nearly to the old one, in the old 4th edition CD book. I found the same phrases.
There was included a topic on black orcs and the revolt, and how they were fired of the CD kingdom (maybe it was written to explain why there is no more orc and BO entry in the list)
Artwork are really good, very dark style, and as technology on the characters as they can draw.

4) The list : I love the fluffy rules they give to the army!
I have many pics to share with you!Happy (soon)
The CD list is rather good. Many things look pretty optimized (as I'm a tournament player).

Lord :
The list presents only one special character, and it is not Azgor. Maybe the list lacks entry???
He is riding a better great taurus (W5), for a cost of 500 pts.

The only lord entry is sorcerer lord.
265 pts. Sorcerer lord are level 3 sorcerer AND daemonsmith.
Lore of Hashut (yes we have!), lore of fire, metal and death. No more shadow.
Daemonsmith rule : within 3 inches of warmachine, gain look out sir rule, and relance artillery or scattery dice for one warmachine.
CD need daemonsmith as some misfire are pretty strong...
You need daemonsmith in order to get some entry (kdiii, warmachines, etc...)
Fluffy rule : if miscast, another fact : 1Wound lost (without save) but gain +1T as they become to change to stone! One time for the +1 T (but not for the -1W)...
Can ride lamassu and great taurus.
Great taurus : same as before with new rule.
Lamassu : they say to refer to "storm of magic" book!
All CD characters come with the black armour for free!

Heroes :
Daemonsmith : 95 pts
level 1, fire, metal and death
Daemonsmith have an enchanted blade, they throw on the chart in order to know what is the gain (such as eternal hattred, reroll, etc...)

CD hero : 105 pts
T5 and LD 9 now
Come with the GREAT rule : Stubborn!

Hobgoblin khan : 40 pts
WS4.

BC hero : I will describe them in BC units. Do not look at the older version any more!

Core units :
CD core units :
Same as before, can have great weapon, shield or blunderbusses.
Blunderbusses : as described on warseer : range 12, S3 piercing.
1d3 multiple shots (roll one time for the unit).
If 10 blunder : no more long range and stand and shoot reaction penality
If 20 or more : reroll to wound

Hobgoblins : 4 pts
Come with light armour and throwing knives
Animosity : great change, very fluffy. No test if CD or BC within 6.
1 : panic test (coward!) If succeed, act as normal.
2-5 : act as normal
6 : bloody murderers! 1D3 wounds, then get reroll to hit.
Backstabber rule : very fluffy too! : if restrain to pursue, fleeing unit suffer 1D6 S3 hits for each 10 hobgoblins

Special units :
No more BO, orcs or goblins
No more sneaky gits
No more bolt thrower

Infernal guard : Changes!
WS5, stubborn now!
13 pts, +1 pt for shield
Fireglaves can have shields

Wolf riders : mongol look
7 pts (????? Should be an error!)
unit size 5+.
Fluffy rules : if they charge from rear or flanck, +1 to combat resolution. If charged, -1 to hit roll.

BC unit : monstruous beasts
M7WS4S4T5W2I3A2LD8
Have scaly skin rule (5+). Have heavy armour.
Can have shield (5 pts), great weapon (10 pts), or spears (5 pts)
Cause fear!
Characters are the same : hero : S5T5W3A4. Cause fear, may have black armour (but not BC units)

New unit : Kdiiiiiiii
Bound daemon!
Monstruous infantry
M6WS5S5T4W3I4A3LD8
Unbreakable, unstable
Fear, flamming attack
Ward save 4+, 2+ ward save against flamming attacks
One rule say that every model in base to base (but not other Kdiii) suffer 1S4 hit, flamming
Another rule is very fluffy : CD sorcerer summon these creatures. With time, they lost power on them.
At the beginning of the 2dn turn, and for each turn, toughness test. If failed, 1D3 wound without save.

Magma cannon : 145 pts
war machine
flamme thrower, range 24.
S5, 1D3 wound

Rocketteer : 100 pts
Our old death rocket.
war machine
Stone thrower, S3 flamming, S8 1D6 wounds

Rare units :
Iron daemon : changes :
S8T8W8 on the list. S8T6W6 on the fluffy part.
Every warmachines can have hellbound amelioration :
hellbound : magical, cause fear, +1T and +1W. But is misfire, additionnal 1D3 wound (no save)

Hellcannon
Chaos giant siege

Dreadquake : 155 pts
our new earthshaker!
war machine
Got an ogre slave. Can have another one for 20 pts (so we can reach 9 wounds!)
S5 template, S10 1D6 wounds.
Quake wave : dangerous test for the unit if they want to move or fire. No march move, no charge.
Slow to fire : if the ogre slave is slain, 3+ to fire.
-1 on misfire chart
My feeling : good value unit!

Finally, our NEW MONSTER : Kdii Monster
Contrary to what we thought, the artwork that shown a taurus in fusion is the Kdii! Looks like a golem bull!
M9WS5S7T6W6I5A6Ld8
Unbreakable, unstable
Frenzy +1D3
Flamming attack, terror, large target
Ward save 4+, 2+ ward save against flamming attacks
Same rules as Kdii

Hashut lore : soon but I found only two spells not as usefull as the others.
Lore attribute : +1D3 casting against Flammable...
Signature spell : range 12 : get hatred rule. Boost version : all unit in 12 Happy
Sixth spell : Flames of Azgorh are back!!!!!! And yes they are!
Small template, scatter 1D6. S6, 1D6 wound.
+ under the center : Toughness test -2 or slain (no save).
25+ : boost version : great template

9 Magics items. Rather good but as in the TK book.

That's all folks!

My feeling : I fear that we won't have our own CD book (to costly). But the CD list is good.
Miniatures are great, cute, well designed and great amount of details.
The CD list is rather good, and very fluffy!
Ravening Hordes list isn't gone, as the two lists are very differents way to play!
We shouldn't wait FW to make all the range, so, everybody here, that have allways loved to be free to have their own vision of their mini, still have this possibility!
To Thommy H : this is a reason why CDO won't die!

The right tournament, which this hypothetical one might be since it is allowing FW, will probably have no problem with Raging Heroes, Mantic, etc. figures as well...

The Raging Hordes list is still accepted in many tournaments.
The fan made list is legal for US independent tournaments ("GTI-legal").
The Warhammer Forge list will certainly be legal for several tournaments as well.

There is no way in the world I'd buy the rank and file models from forgeworld when Mantic is making the abyssal dwarfs.

The warmachines and monsters, yest but crazy zny prices for the models doesn't cut it anymore, from GW or FW.

We've yet to see the actual rank and file. The Infernal Guard are specials and should be considered on the same level as Dwarf Hammerers... those sell for about the same $50 per 10 that the Infernal Guard do, while the Infernal Guard are a better quality. Then again if you're talking about mantic, your price point is probably too low for anything GW.

I'm pretty happy with the rules they have released so far, but sad because they are going the big hat route. Looks like Mantic's range won't be so "off" then.

Well, no. I've used mantic minis for WHFB before, not because I can't afford GW stuff, but because Mantic is much better value. I don't wanna get screwed out of money when there's a cheaper alternative.

Mythos, with current conversion rates to the US those Infernals are $60... and dwarf hammerers are a good example of a unit people aren't buying because the price is out of whack with what you're getting.

Not trying to hijack the thread, as I think the prices of the new DE are very reasonable, but some boxes are just crazy.

And $60 for 10 dwarfs, or $6 a model for your unit, is one of those things... even if it's FW.

I was hoping to get some FW trolls, but since they're $70 for 3 at current conversion rates, and the regular trolls are already what I thought was a steep $45 for 3... yeah. Not going to happen.

The conversion rate is making this an easy pass for me, whereas I had been really tempted due to the models. That, and the fact that they're rather plain for what they're charging.

Yeah, but the mantic ones look horrible compared to the infernals.

I guess it depends whether you favour cheap models, or good-looking ones.

edit: Also, the mantic ones are plastic and METAL kits.

No argument there. The Infernals make me go slightly weak at the knees due to their subdued badassery (I'm a sucker for silent menace) whereas the Mantic ones make me groan at the sheer volume of bling on their hats.

Edit: Oh, sorry, you were responding to me. I was not talking about abyssal dwarves there, I was talking about the normal dwarves, and comparing them to GW's normal dwarf Hammerers. The shieldbreakers I linked to are 100% plastic.
The abyssal dwarves are indeed metal + plastic, and not incredibly nice models, but they are cheap for what they are.

Right- this kind of competition is a really good thing . And in the context of chaos dwarfs, it's nice that there are options... although unfortunately they seem to be some of Mantic's more expensive kits since they have the regular dwarf plastic sprues with metal bits added (hybrid kits).

The bummer about us here for Mantic is the same as for Forgeworld, though- the current conversion rate is killer...

The post I was responding to was one where the complaint was that "rank and file"... which I take to mean miniatures for a "core" choice were too expensive. I was just saying GW/FW are being consistent; that the Infernal Guard are not "core" choices... that means in general FW is expecting to sell fewer of them than they are of the CD Warriors... just as GW sells hammerer at a price because they expect to sell fewer of those. Even if high their prices are in keeping with the expectations based on past experiance.

Everyone else's complaints are just that there are better deals or that GW in general is too expensive.

At this point I don't buy GW products for myself... I just give them as reccommendations when people want to get me a gift for my birthday or christmas present.... because lets be honest free is the best price to pay... let someone else sell a bit of their soul.

For the people who want Chaos Dwarves in the same vein at the FW ones....
Titan Wargames has had similar ones for the last couple years, at about $3/miniature: http://www.titanwargames.com/ ...his in store paint job isn't as good as those in his gallery.
Soon Troll Forge will have their own, for a price TBD... http://trollforged.com/

I think that there are deffinitely enough options out their not to have to rely solely on FW for our little evil dwarf fetish... I'm still waiting to see what FW's CD Warriors look like... but I'm pretty certain I'll end up with a good mix from all three companies.

Based on the rules and one persons in game account, Fire Glaves on Infernal Guard are really good... and only need to be in units of 10. Thats probably one of the few units I'll get from FW, as their aren't any good analoges. I think I may or may try to get the K'adii or K'adii destroyer... depends.

Another interesting addition I like is the option for the Dreadquake, the cannon formerly known as Earthshaker, to take Ogre slaves to help crew the guns... adding some nice ablative wounds.

The general assessment is that this list really takes CD from a very static shooting armylist into a more flexible force with some performance assault units... though its a points wise pricey army.

For $8/each I'd just buy the Warhammer Forge models. I have two problems with Troll Forge, 1)The sculpt quality is hit or miss. 2)Pricey. I'm just not interested in paying as much as it would take to make an army out of indie models. People complain about GW's prices when all these small shops are even higher. I don't mean to be harsh but that's what it boils down to for me, the value I attach to my hobby and quality. I've got an Avatars of War, Ogre Hero for my OK Tyrant and I love it, they also kept the price comparable to GW (actually I wound up paying less than I would have for a tyrant).

My point is, small manufacturers are great for heroes but will never be able to compete with GW for core units because they can't afford the equipment that would allow them to cheaply mass-produce models.

ok, more CD FW madness -

Chaos Dwarf Magma Cannon
Chaos Dwarf Magma CannonThe Magma Cannon is a terrifying war machine that is a nefarious amalgam of field artillery piece and furnace. Their exact design and source of ammunition often differ, as some fire sorcerously-bound, volcanic glass shells filled with volatile liquids while others comprise massive boilers which unleash jets of molten iron, caustic acids and sulphur. Whatever their appearance, the Magma Cannon is a devastating weapon against those who suffer the wrath of the Chaos Dwarfs.

The Chaos Dwarf Magma Cannon, designed by Tim Adcock, is a finely detailed resin kit that contains three unique Chaos Dwarf crew designed by Edgar Skomorowski. While eminently effective as a stand-alone artillery piece, the Magma Cannon may also be towed by an Iron Daemon, allowing it great manoeuvrability across the battlefield and maximising its short-ranged destructive potential.

Experimental rules for the Magma Cannon are available to download now from the Forge World website, taken from the Legion of Azgorh army list that will feature in Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos.
