I liked the duel between Qui-gon, Obi wan and Darth Maul.
i'm sure i'm breaking some sort of Star wars cannon, but the light saber fights
in Phantom menace where better than the other 5 movies. with the exception
of Anikin vs. Obi wan was pretty damn good.
and i got to give a Big +1 to Dakkadan. that fight scene in 'They Live' was prettyawesome/funny!
No, as someone who died a little inside when the CGI dance mix was added to Return of the Jedi, I'm fine with that Lightsaber duel. It's a bright spot in a terrible movie.

Agreed. I also LOVE Darth Maul and think he could have gone toe to toe with Mace Windu
ERm... I meant to quote the above post with the light saber duel but whatever lol
Return of the Jedi - Vader vs Luke Skywalker, specifically the bit from where Vader goes "......Sisteeeeer!....". [2.42m on] I actually find the music to be quite moving in this, great score, great scene.
Just watched it again, Damn it always gets me. Not sure why Vader just sits down in the end?
The final fight in Flashpoint. As someone who has deals with street fights at my worklplace, it's a fairly realistic representation of what can happen. There's a fair mix of striking, but before you know it, both combatants are struggling on the ground, or in a clinch, grappling. The movie itself isn't all that good, but this was a very well choreographed and editted fighting sequence.
Before CGI, before slow motion chop sockie and a ballet of flowery combat moves, before the fighters 'learned' that you didn't have to take damage from most blows, before the environment of a fight turned from a hazard to a mere background effect; you had Sean Connery and Robert Shaw locked in a death struggle in a train carriage. Modern directors, this is how it is done, learn please:
Ah, so many good scenes from movies I've seen.. the axe-fail of epicness from Reign of Fire will always stay with me, in fact I expected it to be brought up in this thread at one point or another. The From Russia With Love scene in the train was also very good.
Not going to watch any of the scenes from movies I haven't seen - no point spoiling them, eh?
Inception's gravity screw hallway fight was pretty cool.
I'm also a fan of Fight Club's visceral, brutal fight scenes.
The Wrestler also had some really great 'fight scenes,' if you could call them that.
But most of all, I'd have to say that my favourite fight scene would have to be something from Hero. I tend to hate martial arts movies, or anything with excessivly over-the-top choreography (except for Equilibrium... but that's because it's awesome. And because Christian Bale's in it...), but Hero takes a fight scene and turns it into cinematic brilliance.
Reign of Fire - That movie and U571 is why I feel like Matt Mcconaughey sqaunders his talent as an actor on crappy chick flicks. He was a badass in both those movies..... oh well
Hero - hell yes. I love that movie. The fight with SilverSpear is just the tits
I have always liked the fight scene in Borne Supremacy with the rolled up magazine.
There have actually been some fight scenes with Bruce Willis as well. I can't remember the movie, but I remember him bashing some guys head/face in with an old rotary dial phone. They are overly choreographed, but seem pretty authentic.
Jackie Chan has always been entertaining for me to watch, too.
And then there is the big battle scenes when the heroes are outnumbered, but fight the good fight anyway. Always brings a tear to my eye.
any fight scene with Donnie Yen in it is pretty awesome plus most of the fight scenes in The Matrix are great too. Though my favorite one these days has been the the rotating hallway fight scene in "Inception" mostly for the concept not so much the fight itself. It's an amazing piece of cinematography and creative ingenuity:
easily the fight scene in the second matrix after they get the key-maker when neo fights all those old programs or whatever...so fething epic, I just watched it last night
DARN YOU! That is an excellent fight scene, one of my secret weapons in discussions of this nature. I LOVE the moment when he takes off his georgian hairpiece and reveals this real crude, brutal, crew cut.
One of the best fight scenes i've seen in the last couple years was in Inception, it is near the end when tom Hardy's (Eames?) character is having a one on one with some henchmen, rewatch it to see what i mean.
The same here. My interest in Naruto died about a hundred episodes into shippuden, but I will always like the fight scene with Lee and Garra. When he takes those weights off...damn!!!!!
Battle Brother Lucifer wrote:My interest died when it devolved into filler before shippuden
You got that right. My interest died as well, but somehow I stomached my way through that drivel. It picked up before shippuden and during shippuden as well. However instead of making filler episodes, they decided to take one episode and make it last for ten episodes. Seriously, after watching 20 episodes in a row and they were still in the same fight...wow. They pretty much just recapped and reshot every scene multiple times. Out of a 25 minute episode you might get 5 minutes of something new.
Green Hornet.
There are a few class fights in there with my personal favourite being Kato vs The Hornet himself. Its probably not the most artistic but it just makes me smile especially the table football and crisps.
OH MY GOD I totally forogt about my all time #1 cannot be beat fight scene. It was in "Streets of Fire" at the end Tom Cody against Raven. Seriously baddest friggin fight scene on film.
And youtube has failed me. That SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Basically this bad ass Tom Cody Versus Raven. AKA William Dafoes badass biker boss

I remember that film...Lee Ving ( singer/guitar player for FEAR) played one of the bikers in it...
The duel at the end of Return of the Jedi isn't a super-amazing fight from a technical perspective, but the emotion and power behind it rarely fail to inspire.
The Bride vs the Crazy 88 is the winner hands down. Down forget Rambo though and his .50 cal! If that doesn't scream 40K I don't know what does. You have flamers and a Heavy Stubber/Bolter. And that huge power weapon to the stomach?
Monster Rain wrote:Any point in Snatch where Brad Pitt punches the gak out of someone is pretty good too.
Yea Id agree. He was oddly believable as a bare knuckles kick your fething teeth in kindda guy. I loved it when in his first fight he blasted that boxer and when everyone was looking at him like WTF? he gave Turkish that smug little smile. Hilarious
THAT was a pretty cool fight scene. What was that movie?

Id agree. I REALLY love Band of Brothers, but that whole opening scene in Saving Private Ryan is just friggin insane. Most of all because they still pushed through it all. I honestly think my brain would of gak itself.
I can't find a clip of it, but the end fight from Once Upon A Time In China 2 (Wong Fei Hung vs the Police Chief) was absolutely epic.
Also, don't know if we're counting animated fights or not, but if we are, then Superman vs Doomsday gets my vote. (Sadly, I couldn't find a non-AMV version)
