Edit: This thread's purpose has now been expanded to include all RPG planning and discussion.
Just thought it might be helpful to gather up all of the current RPGs into a list so everyone can see just how many there are and also to advertise them. I'll post a summary from each one here (taken from each thread's OP at a first glance). I don't have all the details on every single roleplay (I have no information on some) so I will need GMs to post here relevant information like whether players can still join etc. I've only listed roleplays that are:
1) On the first page.
2) Either successful or promising.
3) Have had recent activity.
All done at a quick glance, of course.
For centuries mankind had looked up to the night skies in wonder and awe, naming the Constellations, watching the silent dance of planets and moons, and dreaming that one daythey could swim amongst them in the infinite void of space.
Mankind’s first steps into space were crude and infrequent. Fuelled more by internal bickering and posturing than any desire for genuine advancement of their people, many astounding leaps of discovery and invention soon ignored in favour of the next one. Their landing on the moon, merely a few decades after inventing powered flight, was cast aside as trivial as Mars became the next target for competing nations to aim for.
It wasn’t until Europe federated in 2018, and led by France combined the resources of all it’s former independent nations, and founded the first lunar colony within sight of where Neil Armstrong had placed mankind’s first footprint on the dust, that mankind realised the potential of a race united with one purpose. Two years later, within the confined main hall of Lunar Base Joan D’arc, Representatives from every nation on Earth’s surface signed the Human Systems Alliance charter and pledged their country’s support in colonising the wider galaxy. For the first time in it’s history, Humanity stood united under a shared dream, the Human Systems Alliance was born.
Although united under a mutually elected government, the nations of earth was still allowed a certain level of independence, their existing governments where slotted into an overarching hierarchy with few problems, each elected an ambassador to represent them on the council and were allowed to pursue their own projects to colonise space, provided they obeyed the laws and directives of the Alliance and shared their findings freely with the entire planet.
Space ship technology advanced in leaps and bounds, in 2045, England’s HMS Queen Victoria landed on mars, its prototype Ion drive propelling it across the vast gulf between planets at a fraction of the time it had taken earlier probes. In 2092, Japanese and German scientists perfected an energy shield generator that rendered anything within its protective bubble almost immune to projectiles. 2102 saw the perfection of Terra-forming tech by America, and by 2105 the first trees were planted under open sky on Martian soil. 2120 was the birth year of the ship-mounted rail gun, developed by Germany as a way of destroying asteroids or other solid objects that could breach a ship’s shield, and it’s use as an offensive weapon was realised immediately.
Aware of the possible dangers the galaxy could contain, the Alliance Navy was formed, its members plucked from around the world, and trained in orbit above the world of their birth. Their ranks swelled as colony after colony was founded across the solar system, and thousands of eager men and women flocked to defend their new homes. Hundreds of dull grey ships prowled the solar system, ensuring that everyone remember the union that had allowed them to get even this far into space.
It has been over a hundred years since the Alliance Navy was formed, and mankind has spread far amongst the stars. You are an Officer-Cadet of this proud organization, training for six years to command your own ship, explore, defend and command the cosmos. Now, as your final days at Fort Norton Academy draw near, you eagerly await the awarding of your ceremonial sword and the ship that comes with it.
For those of you who know me you will know that i have been working on this for a long time, the game has come together over the course of several years and im trialing it now on Dakka for the first time
the game will have to played slightly differenntly because of the nature of online rpg games. This may cause a few problems but nothing that cannot be handled,
The game is a Medieval era Role Playing Game where you take on the role off a character who is following the Stone storyline,
The game will grow and evolve as it is played so dont be discouraged by a lack of background, it will appear over time.
The Space Wolves looked up at the Chaos Fleet that was amassing above Fenris, each armed with Chaotic weaponry and bearing the symbols of the Thousand Sons. They raised their weapons and howled at the arriving Chaos Drop ships, as the Drop ships land Cultists and Chaos Space Marine rush out ready for battle against the Sons of Russ. Within seconds the Space Wolves begin firing on the Chaos scum killing several Cultists and injuring Chaos Marines. The Chaos Marines rush to cover and begin taking pot shots with their Bolters killing an unwary Blood Claw.
More Space Wolves arrive from behind the Chaos Marines, Long Fangs take up positions with their missile launchers and Las-Cannons and take aim at the Chaos Drop ships engines and fire on them destroying it in a fiery storm above the Chaos Marines who some become aware of the flanking Space Wolves, they desperately try to hold position but are forced into Close combat with the Blood Claws who tear them apart.
“Pathetic aren’t they”
The Space Wolf Kornou pulled up the body of a dead Chaos Cultist and throw it against a ruined wall.
“There will be more”
The Wolf Priest Hemlock Moon appeared from behind the Space Wolf
“You should pay attention when you’re killing these aren’t Thousand, these are scouts and there will be much more.”
The Space Wolves looked up at the arriving Drop Pods and raised their weaponry and made their prays to Russ.
It has been one month since the Thousand Sons and their Allies arrive through the Warp Portal and begun their invasion of the Space Wolf Home world Russ. Over 10,500 Chaos Space Marines and their masses of Cultists and Mutants are invading Fenris and are being led by Chaos Sorcerer Kremlin who plans to take Fernis and rid the Thousand Sons of their hated enemy’s in revenge for the attack on Prospero. But the Space Wolves will not fall easily and they have called for the help of their Successors and allies from across the Galaxy to aid them. Who will you assist the Foul Forces of Chaos or the Space Wolves of the Imperium?
...As the moon rose over the small village near Prague, the town trembled with fear...doors and windows were tightly bolted ,and though most citizens would not say against what...in the depths of their hearts they felt the presence of the unspeakable, shadows that hunted in the darkness...evil that hungered.
Jaroslav hated the night, the darkness. The dark umbral shroud that coated the earth in suffocating blackness, smothering all in a tenebrous blanket of despair that leeched both warmth and hope. He had an impeccable feeling that whenever he gazed into the gloom, something with a thousand thousand eyes and a million butcher-teeth glared back at him from the blackness, running a maggoty tongue over it's fangs in anticipation for the kill to come, so it may rend him to gory chunks, gulping him down like a terrible heron. The Czech man pulled his coat tighter around his shoulders to stave off the night's chill, and in a vain hope that the gesture might somehow protect him from the myriad dangers of the forest, whose trees were gnarled like black warped bones jutting from the earth, each swaying malignantly in the night air. Along with Jaroslav came two men of his village, armed with outdated rifles and hatchets, Cyril and Radko by name, the latter clutching a lead crucifix with such force that his palm bled red ichor onto the ground with each step. Along with the party came Manfred Kessler, a German who toted a powerful handgun and an archaic longsword that showed it's age proudly with numerous nicks and scratches along the iron blade. Kessler had come to the village a week after the mayor's son vanished without a trace from his bedroom, with no sign that anyone had entered the house or left when the incident occurred. The only clue was a smattering of blood on the floor, yet no signs of a struggle to suggest the boy had been injured or murdered. When more children began to disappear under the same circumstances, the Mayor Vladmir had called a meeting in the chapel to discuss what must be done. Action must be taken, but the townsfolk had been unsure of what to do. The authorities in Prague would take too long to arrive, and more children may be claimed as they made their way to the village. Then the withered form of Matka Svatava shuffled forward through the throng and raising a bony hand rotten with age, proposed a solution. When she was a little girl, her village had been attacked by an Upire, who drained the blood of the living to fuel their own unlife. Fighting the creature had been fruitless, and the mayor sent out a letter of distress to Prague, which the authorities ignored as the fever dreams of country bumpkins. But the letter was received and understood by a man by the name of Chaderly Lane, who arrived in the village two days later, with a sword strapped to his back, and a length of sharpened yew in his hands, instructing the villagers to bolt their doors at night. After the sun had set, Lane had sat on a stool in the middle of the town square, the longsword resting on his lap as he read aloud from the Bible. The townspeople did all they could to come inside with them, to escape the death that would inevitably come to the village in the coming hours. The foreigner had smiled, and told them that his fate rested in the hands of God, and they should have no fear for his safety. As the villagers departed, weeping for him, the sun sunk behind the trees, engulfing the town in darkness. Two hours later, Lane entered the church, his blade slick with gore, in one hand, holding the severed head of the Upire in the other. Instructing the priest to burn the remains and bury them under the church, the man departed, asking for no payment or reward, claiming that freeing the village from the terrors of the night was payment enough. Matka Svatava had never forgotten the foreign swordsman, and claimed there were others like him, ready to serve God in ridding the world of the horrors that dwelt in the dark places of the earth. After much debate, a message was sent out to the 'Network' that Matka Svatava had spoken of, and a week later, a German named Manfred Kessler had arrived, his face grim, for he knew what had stolen the children. Kessler had instructed that the strongest men in the village accompany him into the forest, and Jaroslav and his companions had been selected. The German spoke little Czech, but did his best to give instructions through a series of hand gestures and drawings. Trekking into the forest, the party had encountered no hostile being so far, but all save the foreigner were terrified, for this was the forest their parents and grandmothers had told them ghastly tales about when the rain beat against the glass panes of the windows, and the sun hid itself away in mute terror. He had claimed in broken Czech that the creature they sought would come to them, such was it's arrogance, but he wished to be away from bystanders when the battle came. Settling down in the center of the dark wood, the villagers prepared to light a fire, but Kessler rebuked them, explaining in pantomime what would happen to them if the beast saw flame. The trio would never light a single spark with such impunity again. MInutes turned into hours as time flowed like black ichor as they waited in blasphemous core of the forest, the twisted trees seemingly reaching out hungrily towards them, eager to draw their Vitae into their bark with their pale roots. Then the German tensed suddenly, like a whipcord pulled to maximum draw, his senses alert and bright. Drawing his blade, he called out to the darkness in his own tongue, speaking thus; "Nachdem ich name sie Rawhead! Zweimal habe ich Namen, den sie Jäger Gezämt! Dreimal habe Ich Namen, den sie Tommy Rawhead! Vier mal habe Ich Namen, den sie Daemon! Fünf mal habe Ich Namen, den sie Monster!" The very air seemed to shake with his incantation, the trees seeming to bend back as they were rebuked. Only mocking silence seemed to answer him, stifling in it's nothingness. Then, after what seemed to the mortal mind to be hours, but what only could have been seconds, a voice called out in reply; "Na ra chet vaa nu sekk. Ra, nos vel haa irh... Keyth uit vaa, mult chra." The darkness spoke in a voice as dry and as old as bleached bone, seeming to crinkle and tear as it resounded around them. Speaking a second time, it said; "Gha jhk bha, nut io er maaw. Tu eq fstah chrul. Brha vaa sahyr laa! Na! Na!" Then the darkness revealed itself, separating from the gloom to impart terrible horror unto the mortal eyes that beheld it's unholy form. Standing far above the all too human onlookers, the monster was composed of bone the color of parchment yellowed with age, slick with blood that dripped freely to the dead soil to form muddy patches of Vitae. Arms nearly as long as it's body almost scraped the ground with cruel talons that hung with torn meat and gristle from it's prey. But the most terrible aspect of the daemon was it's head, that of an ossified equine, two horribly human eyes peered from it's sockets that freely wept blood that ran down it's bony chin unto the ground. The creature appeared to wear a manic grin on it's skeletal rictus, opening it's jaws slightly as it stalked forward towards the Humanii. The men of the village wept in terror, their childhood fears made into an animate pillar of ossified bone. Cyril ran, bolting in terror from the scene, but the thing simply extended one of it's limbs, and it snaked after him as it stretched beyond what should have been possible, pulling him into it's jaws before the rest of the party could react. Working with cruel efficiency, the monster pulped the villager's flesh and bones with it's blunt teeth, his screams unending as scraps of meat and organs fell to a pile at the thing's feet, his blood further coating it's skeleton, the crunching of his bones drowning out his maddened screams. Radko thrust the leaden cross out in front of him, screaming in Czech for the monster to let him be. The monster spoke in it's paper-rasp voice, speaking; "Hah, lok tyo saa?" Before reaching out with clawed hands to tear the slav to his component parts. Leaping to intercept, Kessler slashed at the beast, chipping it's ribcage with his iron sword. The monster shifted, brining a massive clawed fits hammering around into the German's right shoulder, which deformed with the loud snap-crack of breaking tinder. Dropping the sword from nerveless fingers, Kessler hissed in pain, drawing a powerful revolver from a holster on his belt, taking aim at the monster. Watching the scene, transfixed in terror was Jaroslav, fear-sweat trickling down his face as he held his rifle in the embrace of a dead man. Taking shaky aim a the unholy grotesque, the slav fired a single round from the antique rifle, which sped true to it's mark, burying itself in the creature's eye socket, bursting it's left eye like a pus-filled grape. It stopped, felling the gory hole with a single claw before slowly turning to look at Jaroslav, whose bowels gave way to ice. Looking at the man with a look of pity upon it's death face, Tommy Rawhead spoke in perfect Czech: "You really should not have done that." ...
The Tomb Sanguinis, a Space Hulk of ancient origin, has drifted in the warp for over fifteen millenia, and has swollen to the size of a large moon. Amongst the vessels that make it up are crude Ork Kroozers, noble and proud Strike Cruisers of the Adeptus Astartes, a massive and tangled Tyranid Hive Ship - to name just a few. In fact, there are dozens of vessels that are too ancient to even identify. But what is definitely true is that the Tomb Sanguinis is infested with thousands upon thousands of deadly creatures, vile traitors and despicable aliens.
But none of these are the worst features of the Tomb Sanguinis. No, for the true danger of a Space Hulk is its unpredictable nature. It is nigh-impossible to track these terrible behemoths, and even harder to predict where they will emerge. However, it is now that the Warp has decided to release the Tomb Sanguinis once again; and it is headed directy for the Imperial planet of Radia, who nurtures a population of 19 billion within its many, many hives. Imperial forces have already mobilised to try and destroy this doom-laden monstrosity. Assembled is a battlefleet, forces from multiple chapters of Adeptus Astartes and five whole regiments of Imperial Guard. Bombardments from afar have proven ineffective against the armour of the Tomb Sanguinis, so the only option that remains is to send forces aboard to capture, or at the very least, destroy the Tomb Sanguinis - most likely the latter of the two options. Most Imperial forces remain in orbit, but a select few brave units have volunteered for this suicidal and perilous mission.
You are a member of Inquisitor Remus' extensive retinue, of the Ordo Hereticus. You have been selected to join Task-Force Fury on a manhunt, brought here by the requisitioned Naval Cruiser Sanctum's Pride. The target, even their name, has been concealed from you. It is not your place to know who this mysterious quarry is, only that you fulfil your duty in hunting down and destroying them.
The chase will lead you and Task Force Fury from world to world, across whole systems and demi-sectors. You do not know how much of a lead the prey has on you, whether it is weeks, months, even years. The trail is there though, if one looks closely, the clues and half-truths inevitably leading to the target itself.
It is not expected that all of you will survive this mission. You wield authority by virtue of working for the Inquisition, but not the limitless authority of an Inquisitor Remus himself behind you, Interrogator Senioris Avare heads this mission and is not yet inducted. Regiments and Planets will not leap at your word, though they are unlikely to stand in your way, lest they attract the accusing gaze of the Inquisition. This mission calls for discretion.
It is surely His will, for the target shall be less mindful of a single ship of pursuers than of a whole sector watching for them.
The Past It's been 20 years since NI Day, since the UN was smashed by the alien invaders. The N'ss left after ensuring we would never be able to mount a counterattack. They bombed cities, left entire nations as piles of dust. What followed was worse than what anyone could have ever imagined. The remaining UN outposts were brutally smashed by a faction known as the Conclave, led by a megalomaniac known as the Voice. The Conclave wasted no time in consolidating it's power and bringing the populace under control. The next few years were marked by a violent pogrom against free thinkers and any that refused to bow to the Voice. In the end, the Conclave had killed more than the N'ss and the Terran Civil War combined. It only got worse when they found out about Project Lazarus. The UN had set up a contingency plan in case they lost the war. They intended to find a way to raise the dead, negating the damage the N'ss had wreaked on Earth. 2 years ago, something whent wrong, and flesh eating monsters roamed the Canadian plain. Now the Conclave wants the power to create undying soldiers, so they headed for the Lazarus Facility in Canada. The Lazarus Guard and a group of resistance fighters from the states drove them off, but not after discovering something much, much worse than zombies and ghouls... They found Vault 17, and unleashed the horrors within. The resistance fighters managed to kill the Hive Mind that was controlling the Mycomorphs in the Vault, and the facility was thought secure. Now, both the Conclave and the UN Remnant are seeking it out. The UN to fix their mistakes and create true life, and he Conclave to create a new breed of super-soldier.
The Present Two years have passed since the Lazarus Affair, a bid by both the UN and the Conclave to secure the Lazarus Facility, a massive science station attempting to reanimate dead tissue to mitigate the losses suffered during the N'ss War. Project Lazarus was a failure, all those within were either killed or became something far more than human, and something far less. During the initial attack, the UN and Conclave forces suffered near total losses, with a single squad of UN soldiers making it out alive. During the evacuation, the UN lifted Herbert West and Strelok Tauben, two Lazarus scientists and components of the Lazarus Guard. Rather than see the Facility fall to the Conclave, the UN called down an orbital strike, blasting it to rubble even as the Conclave arrived. Now, the UN prepares to strike at Conclave held Chicago, to liberate the city from the hands of the Voice, the enigmatic leader of the Conclave. This is where our story begins, with the UN preparing for Operation Anvil... Factions
Conclave The Conclave is the current reigning faction in the remains of Earth, crushing any resistance with an iron fist. Their populace is composed of emotionless dull-eyed drones, who trudge about seeking to please the Voice with their labors. Their soldiers are distinctive in their gas masks and black uniforms. Original thought is a crime in the Conclave, and the law is enforced brutally by shotgun toting Enforcers.
UN Remnant The Remnant has fallen on hard times, the Conclave constantly hammers them in combat, and recruitment has dropped to near nothing in the past months. They fight a desperate war against a seemingly unstoppable foe.
2068 A.D. brought several meteorites struck earth bringing very unique possible organic spores that survived the dark cold void of space but not the heat of created by the friction of the meteors ripping through the atmosphere.
2070 A.D. brought the paradise program that created self retaining cities within highly populated areas to create safe havens from any possible biological threat.
2085 A.D. spores were revived using extremely advanced bio-egineering bringing a plauge that infected 97% of the world's population. Mass muatations created the populas into fleash devouring creatures that surpase the human standards of life. Paradise barely holds out only due to the walls built to withstand a world ending nuclear war.
2500 A.D. several space fleets created by the U.K. to explore the closest solar system were reclaimed from the undead and were launch sucessfully.
2735-40 A.D. First signs of highly intelligent life found. First contact with a race of aliens that are called the phantoms to closest translation.
2800 A.D. Political tensions with Phantoms die and firm alliance is created.
3000 A.D. Earth plan for Global clensing is began.
3085 A.D. First Phantom fleet arrives in orbit of Earth. Request that Paradise 109 clears its surrounding territory for landing zones to prevent any pre-mature infections.
Paradise 109 A.K.A Lord's Haven: This is the last functioning paradise in the North eastern region of the United States. The paradise city have a intense communication network that allowed each city to continue scientific acheivements. Combat Bio-suits is a three hundred year old invention that has been continously modifeid. Weapony has also expanded into several heavy lazer weapony. Highly vunable to infection.
The planet Abrantias XII. A tortured plague ravaged world that has been torn down from the heights of civilization to the lowness of defeat, only the most hardy of survivors remain.
Almost nothing survives the virulent Plague that was unleashed on the world by the chaos space marines, and those that did soon foundthemselfs having to make a choice, follow the path of Nurgle, or die a horrible death. Billions turned.
Now the last survivors of the Holy Imperium warriors sent to the planet have returned, their mission to purge the planet clean of all elements of chaos. they have been tasked with this sacred duty, but none expect them to succed. It is a punishment of sorts, the failure of the companies sent to defend the planet is palpable, the Black Templars, the Space Wolfs, and the imperial Guard all failed in their task, and now they are being punished for it.
However they have been given a reprieve, subject of the inquisition have been sent primarily to aid them, but also to purge them if they should fail.
"All troops Move forword!"The German Captain barked over the intercom."Elites, there is a terminator sqaud in the east side of the complex, MOVE YOU LAZY DOGS!" The complex he was talking about was Theris Defence Facility which is near Hamburg, the begining of the Shengin line. The Super wall as the french called it. It was what caused the allies to stop dead in their tracks. The French pulled out of the war in 52' after the economic crash(Yes I just did that) and began to focus on making weapons and other equipment for the allies. The Nazis are more worried about the 6 Th divison, a group of super terrorists based in Poland, Hellbent on destroying both the Riech and the Allies. Origanaly the 6 Th division was a group of Nazi Superwarriors, but after Hitler died shortly after the turn of the decade(Rumored the sixth divison killed him) The 6th division left leaving a hole in the German army. Now you are going to decide the fate of a large section of the world. The Riech expands germany down back to parts of russia PS When hitler died as did the holocaust.
The year is 2743, and the earth has been unified into one global nation, the United Earth Federation. The world’s population have eliminated poverty and illness, crime is almost non-existent, and famine has been wiped from the world.
How has this been achieved? Through the induction of the global network known as the Complex, this online virtual world is the place where people can earn real world money in what are called “The Eternity Games” The virtual world is split up into 9 “Continents” virtual centres where people can compete for cash prizes and prestige.
The “Continents” Are thus:
Primarus: Here there are held Gladiatorial death contests, The people who fight in these tournaments do not actually die but instead they must start their career in the Eternity Games from scratch with a new avatar.
Secondus: This Continent is responsible for holding death races of all kinds, high speed dangerous and often lethal races where only the victor is remembered.
Trius: The games held in Trius are known as the Logic games, huge mazes and Puzzles that tax the mind to its limits, often bending the normal laws of physics to achieve the strangest traps and logic puzzles.
Quadrus: This is the Continent that holds the Championship arenas, Various specialised contests that allow people to reach the last tiers of The Eternity Games
Trialus: This is the place where new avatars may train themselves in non-lethal equivalents of the challenges in the real-time Continents, A single 5 yearlong training session may only occupy the space of a heartbeat in real-time. This allows the people with the inclination to spend huge amounts of time honing their skills.
Mortus: This Continent is a place where all of the dead avatars are remembered according to rank; the higher their Prestige ranking the more vaunted their remembrance Alcoves.
Septus: This is the First of the Elite Three these final three Continents are available only to those who have mastered all of the previous games Continents. This first Continent is dedicated to the lower end scale of the elites, it has every kind of arena available to the other Continents but of a significantly harder scale of competitors, hence the “Elite” status of the Continent.
Octanus: This Second tier of the Elite Trio is the same as Septus, except that its arenas are of an even more advanced difficulty to those of Septus.
Omega: This Final Tier is for One on one duels in the most advanced matches that the elite trio has to offer, nothing can compare to the raw thrill and monetary gains to be had in this final Continent
The Eternity Games are played by real people yes, but these people interact with the network with what are called, “Avatars”. These digital constructs are personalised by the owner and are often elaborate and many varied.
A long time ago, it was predicted that the world would end on a certain date. That date was 2012.
The prediction was almost correct, it happened quite a few years after that, in 2025, and the world didn't end, at least the people that survived, which was not many, realised that. But from then on it was a terrible, terrifying, place.
There were massive Tsunamis, horrible earthquakes on a massive scale, and tornadoes that ravaged the land. Governments went into chaos, monuments being destroyed, some cities being taken directly off the map. For those who survived these Cataclysmic events, there was an even bigger threat coming. Monsters rose from the earth, and were named the Reapers, for their ability to bring swift death, they also came in a few different forms, and hardly any people know what they really look like, for those who see them usually meet their demise.
The year is now 2027. Small groups of survivors stick together for safety, and create small communities, hoping that they do not meet the Reapers. Very small groups of Bandits kill and steal, trying to make a living through others’ hardships.
You are a survivor. This is your life. May God be with you.
"Whoa! Is, is that a kid?" Said the 1st cop with shock.
" I, I think it is." said the 2nd cop.
"Did one of them do it?" said the 1st cop.
as cop 2 turns over the body, it falls apart, and maggots go everywhere making the 1st cop start to barf.
"it was the reavers all right, must of been about a month ago."said the 2nd cop says.
then, out of the shadows, 2 big, 3 fingered hands grab the 1st cop and rip him in half, blood spraying everywere.
the 2nd cop quickly pulls out his gun and shoots the reaver between the eyes. but when he turns around, he comes face to face with another. it proceeds to grab him by the head and crush it, splattering blood above the dead boy.
----
a group of soldiers arrives at the scene 2 days later.
the sergeant says" looks like reavers, happened bout a month ago, else the maggots wouldn't be so numerous."
then the soldiers hear screams from the shadows and then see group of reavers come charging out of the shadows howling like the animals they are.
"run!" yells the sergeant, only a little to late.
as the reavers tackle soldiers and mutilate them , only 3 are able make it back to the truck alive.
as they drive out of the forest, the reavers that follow burn in the sunlight.
the sergeant says softly" great, another failed mission. but why were the reavers still there, they never stay longer than a month in any location."
as they arrive at the city orion, they fall silent...
this is earth in 2143, only 30 years ago an experiment some humans were doing went haywire creating the reavers. over those years the reavers destroyed city after city, destroying life as we know it. they killed off almost every other animal except those that evolved fast enough to get away, which wasn't many. now there are only a hand full of cities left, the biggest is orion.for protection every city has huge walls to keep out the reavers, although it doesn't always work.
It is three years after the events of Dawn of War 2 Retribution. Azariah Kyras is dead and Gabriel Angelos is the new chapter master though he is badly damged after the fight with Kyras. Adrastia has halted the exterminatus of the remaining worlds in Sub-sector Aurelia, Meridan, Calderis and Aurelia itself. Though the Blood Ravens are themsleves free of the shackles of corruption there problems are far from over.
The Orks left on Claderis are regathering.
Eldar of the Uthwe craftworld re-appear and are raiding Meridan.
Reported Tyranid sightings on the Exterminated world of Typhon
And a old threat has appeared on Aurelia bent on the Blood Raven desturction for chaos undivied.
The question is who's side are you on?
After the Lazarus incident, the UN had control of another prominent city that provided an other large strategic location, not only did the Conclave want this city but as did the hive mind, the city provided an easy access to D.C. The hive mind only entered the city later after the Conclave and UN in order to turn them and make a larger foothold onto the area known as the united states. The Mycromorph attained their spot in the battle for the city by finding a small gap in the wall next to the apartment buildings. The Mycromorphs only attacked at night, attacking small patrols and adding to their ranks, until they are discovered at which point it will be a large conflict between all. There will be another set of ranks added, the natives of this small town are going to be fighting for the control of their own town, they had tried for a long time to stay out of this conflict. But were dragged into it, so the decided to fight back.
as sir philisti struggled to keep his footing in the muddy ground,he clutched the tree tighter and looked out into the abyss behind him.he swerved and yelled over the rain "why? why did you have to have the crown brother? we could of made a peaceful world!" "i dont care for your peace,i care for the power of the valrian throne and its allies!" his brother, danyel yelled back as he walk forward to the king. "without me valrian has no allies!they will leave when they hear i am dead, they will not follow you!" "SILENCE YOU FOOL!they will follow me or be destroyed!" "will they? or will your greed be the end of valrian?" "I SAID SILENCE!" and with that, danyel rushed forward and pushed his brother philisti, the king, off into the abyss.
news of king philistis mysterious disappearance and danyels rise to power spread threw the races and factions like wild fire. as all heard, all thought it a chance to gain power, and all factions started calling forth their armies.you are a high ranking member of one of these factions, you will lead your platoon to victory for your faction or split and try to claim your own throne.you will be involved in the politics of the world of gonnan, fight for its territory, and gain its citizens under your flag.
This will be a RPG based on lordblackfang's Nu Ork setting. (Hope he doesn't mind)
Nu Ork is basically an Ork Craftworld. There are many different factions on Nu Ork because everyone

Here’s a bit of fluff, in the year 2085 a lot has changed some years previous (about 30) a plague of unknown origins swept over the planet, but instead of killing its victims it simply puts them in to a state of catatonic almost "time frozen" sleep, these victims were placed underground in huge extended vaults, in the hope that one day they would wake up again, the survivors of the plague were few, over 3/4 of the world population was "stored" in the underground vaults.
So the survivors, about 1.5 billion people joined together in the middle of Europe in a gigantic city state, the republic of Victus, as it became was filled with people of all nationalities. Cultures and religions clashed until one day a senator was visited by the image of a huge locked concrete door, one of the doors of the underground vaults.
An exploration team was sent down to the near forgotten vaults to open it and see if people were finally waking up. The vault, situated over the remains of southern France, was supposed to hold just under a million people. It was completely empty. Immediately exploration and recovery teams were sent to othe vaults across the globe, only to find every single one empty, bar one man. This man had lost his memory completely but had startling precognitive abilities and was completely blind deaf and mute. He could only communicate through a neural interface device that allowed his brain to think thoughts to a computer screen.
This man came to be known as the oracle and was placed under intensive care in an old cathedral of the Christian faith, over time the people of Victus began to worship the man as a near god, and the Cult of the wandering eye was formed, slowly the religion spread across the city until all people were under the influence of this (apparently) god like figure.
All was well in the Republic of Victus for several years, and although the missing sleepers were looked for, they were never found, and gradually the senate lost intrest in them.

Most of them. There's eighteen up there, I'd say 12-13 are definitely running at a guess, quite possibly more.
Hmm, didn't realize there was a large enough player base to support that many RPs, still...if they're all active and not getting bogged down...carry on .

Ol' FITZZy, how've you been getting on down here in the Roleplaying underground of Dakka recently? Haven't played a game with you since RZ&LWC (which will be returning, with any luck, this summer), you've been busy with Blood Moon, no?

Yes, the first one went very well and Blood Moon part ll ( though hitting a few snags) is moving along.
I've actually been thinking quite a bit about RZ & LWC lately, I'd love to see a re-launch this summer.

I really hope it picks up again at some point.

i trust him with his knowledge of RPs and stuff. and i slightly trust him in Crystal angels....although he tried to make us fight a dreadnought so i want to punch him....so yeah, almost never.
Darko was GM for RZ&LWC, and honestly I think he did an admirable job for the most part, especialy considering some of the "problems" that arose from some " issues" between some of the PC's.

PC fighting? the good kind or the bad kind?
The kind that brings the RP to a dead halt for almost a week and leads to a lot of bickering...
Don't really want to rehash it all here, but suffice to say there were some rather heated moments between several PCs...myself included.

I'm pretty sure an entire circus full of monkeys wouldn't have stopped the ..." Debates" that came up in that RP...as I said, things got heated.
I honestly hope that should the RP begin a new, all the "friction" will be left in the past RP.
Well, it's fair to say that by now I'm a much more experienced GM and I've learned a lot; from RZ&LWC and Space Hulk, as well as other RPGs.
Hopefully I'll combine my knowledge of all of this to make it the best RPG ever.
Hint.. the OP of the new thread will involve me [PURGED BY ORDER OF INQUISITION] so it will take a LOT of time and effort to create, but I owe all the previous players that much, so I'll make it work this time.
But it'll only start once a lot of the other RPGs have died down.. Blood Moon and Space Hulk for example. I don't see EF's Inquisitorial Henchman RPG dying any time soon. Likewise with the up-and-comer RPG Crystal Angels, which is very successful and popular - kudos to Harrab for being a tactical genius of a GM.
Also, if anyone wants to join Space Hulk, I'm always looking for new players to replace those that don't frequent the thread anymore.

Yeah, I'd surely want to wait for a few of the current RP's to die down before seeing a "zombie re-launch".
And I'm sure you'll do a great job at the helm Darko.
One concern however is that some of the original PC's seem to no longer be with us.

Jp hasn't been around for a long time, I think that thread was why he left. Karon is still poking around, being his usual angry self, but I doubt he'll rejoin or that any players want him to. I don't have a problem with him joining, but it is true that many people take offense to his characters and the persona he uses on the internet. I do however accept responsibility for the terrible first event of RZ&LWC that was a part of the trouble.
ghosty hasn't been on Dakka much from what I hear.
Generally though, I think most of the vets are still around and there's more than enough new gamers to compensate.
I still need to get out of the habit of doing over-ambitiously long events. Just ask my Space Hulk players.

JP has been MIA for months, haven't heard from him at all, which could be problematic as his character was still active.
Ghosty is on and off, but as you recall his character had " run off into the woods", so as good as it would be to have him rejoin...it isn't a " Must".
Karon...Karon..Karon, I think...maybe..towards the end ...he started to understand what all the sabre rattling was about, I wouldn't have a problem with him re-joining...so long as , well...you and I covered all that to death.
As for "overly ambitious " events, I think it's in your nature to shoot for them Darko, and that's all well and good, so long as they are coming in a timely manner....I find RPs work better if they are done at a decent pace, though that isn't always possiable.
Yeah, I think most of the old players are still around...and some "new blood" is always a good thing, overall I think bringing RZ&LWC back is more than doable.
i have an idea. lets use this as an advertisement thread like sir cat said (kinda) that way we dont flood people with a bunch of RPs that go nowhere, instead if enough interest is in one here,we then post it up cause we know it has people.
Darkvoidof40k wrote:That's one of the reasons that this board needs a mod or two.
try spamming one about that. as for this...hmmmm...might post my hell RP just to show what i have, but still havent gotten some things from people ive PMed for help  (needs to be one!)
To be honest, I think RZ&LWC can easily come back, we already have enough players who I think would be willing to join again (myself included, Falco has so much more to do!), but the only thing we'll need is a new GM...
... that is, Dark, unless you want to continue with the role...
Darkvoidof40k wrote:Join Space Hulk and you'll enjoy lots of attention as all my players have.
If I join, do I have to read all of it so far to understand, or just the last little bit?
Reading 20 pages to get up to speed with stone was bad enough, but 40...
Also, mabey we should make a sticky thread about how to play RPG's (Or possibly use the one I made and asked the MODs to sticky), and also one about how to create a RPG and be a good games master. That could be a good way to increase the number of good RPs and reduce the number of bad ones.
Space Hulk is a very good read. However the story really hasn't advanced particularly far. Hell the majority of posts from pages 20-30 are just mindless spam *glares at Scrazza*.
My usual policy is to make people read the entire thread, but as it really isn't that complicated, just make sure you've all read the first and also the most recent event.
If y'all have any questions or just generally want more information, PM me and/or some of the players such as Warork, Scrazza, Harrab or Gorskar.

Well for one thing I'm in it, which gives it ten billion man points as it is.
Nah, serious argument time.
To be honest Kaiser, it's a fun game with a lot of potential and a plethora of interesting characters. It's very unique and contains virtually every single one of the main "species" from the Warhammer 40,000 universe. There's a lot of very talented fiction writers partaking in the game - some of the best Dakka has to offer. I don't think we've had any inter-player feuds, so everyone is in good spirits and it has a nice feel to it. Players have a great deal of freedom with regards as to what they want to do, and I've put a lot of work into it to make it as good as possible.
After watching the horribly disturbing video, Dog of Man, (I recommend not touching it with a nine and a half foot poll, but do whatever you want, I warned you) I was inspired to create an RP centered around a group of individuals trapped in an abandoned asylum/lab/subway/etc, and they must find they're way out. A bored male British voice named John guides the players, offering advice and giving background information about the are as the party progresses. Sanity would be an important factor, a low Sanity score would cause hallucinations and paranoia. One of the players would secretly be a skinhusker, a horrible extradimensional monster that parades about in it's victims skin, and their goal would be to see everyone in the party either dead or insane. This needs a lot of refinement, but I like the idea. What're your thoughts?
Interesting.. but both of us are GMs as well as being involved in at least one or more other roleplays.. won't be easy to manage. I'd be interested.. but I'm not sure how many roleplays I can juggle effectively.

[shamelessplug]I have a RP interest thread going that is getting popular-ish. It's untitled, and is still undergoing minor changes, but the major stuff is worked out.
I have an idea or two for an RP rattling around up there some where *points to head*
Specifically, the Crystal Angels RP has given me the idea for a 40k "Battlefleet gothic" type RP where players control different ships of the line and what not.
alternatively, for those who are tired of footslogging adventures we could always pull something based on "Double Eagle" and have ourselves a 40k version of Top Gun...I've always wanted to try something like that and I think it would be fun if we got some serious RPers in on it...
just tossin ideas around, that's what this thread is for....right?

good ideas, just needs work to well, work
Hmmm, I suppose the fighter pilot one would work similarly to your standard soldiering deal, you know, individual stats and all that depending on the specific model being flown and the pilot's experience. I've seen several different types of GMing, BTW I have absolutely no experience in that realm I just play the RPs
Anyway, if I could have my pick on that specific one it would be similar to the way Dark has run Space Hulk, cept without all the waiting and spamming of course...
Well, as for Battlefleet, I suppose you are correct, maybe it should be narrowed to Imperials vs Chaos or something along those lines to ensure smooth running...

hey,you only learn by trying and i think 2-3 races might work, but you would need more players. also fleet command was fun cause of the customization, how does that work in gothic? ive never played O.o
How about rp about haunted fortress that is filled with relics/gold, but guarded by an army of Zombie/skeleton Crusaders that have sacrifield their humanity to better serve their god? And of course PC go in.

But klimino, where's the fun in disregarding all previous plot, characters and develop thereof?
lord commissar klimino wrote:then why was it called RZ&LWC ?
Because divisions of Russian Soldiers had been sent to America to assist in reclamation of areas, though many Russian forces met with resistance.
The story took a sort of turn in that, though many Russian troops had arrived on American soil to help, some saw the "crisis" as an chance to conquer...
Though in actual story development ( character interactions) the Russians hadn't played a huge part yet.
lord commissar klimino wrote:ok...cool? sounds kinda strange yet fun.
I'll echo Darko's suggestion to go read the RP's, they're both fun stories that I quite enjoyed helping to create, and even though RZ&LWC never actually came to a conclusion it's still an interesting little tale...which at the moment is a "cliff hanger".
.. seeing as it was left on such a cliffhangar I think about it every day, it contaisn just about ALL of the major RPers here on Dakka, and it is really popular...

The Underworld: The Underworld betrayed us...
They swore that if Heaven were in need that they would come to its aid...
But when the time came for them to heed there promise they didnt...
They stayed hidden like rats...
They stayed hidden in the safety of the Underworld, they simply looking away as the forces of Limbo tore open the gates of Heaven...
They sat and did nothing as a ravenous horde slaughtered and destroyed everything it could reach...
They sat and watched from the safety of there great castles, looking out across there lands as we of heaven hoped for aid that would never leave its home...
We have been betrayed...
"Father, arent we to help them?"
"BAH! what have 'they' ever done for us? hmm? If this goes on at this pace, there will be nothing left of 'Heaven'!"
Laughed Saten as he stood. his daughter Lula letting out a sigh from below him.
"But father, Why brake our vow now? We have always stood by our words and helped to keep the forces of limbo in place."
She said with a curious worry in her voice.
"Because this time the destruction of heaven is certain and besides, i have plans this time..."
he said as they watched the domains of heaven fall from the sky in the from of a meteors from the sky...
"What is this firey rain Father?"
She asked as a thunderous roar could be heard outside...
They saw out a window a huge flaming stone slammed into the world outside, the once holy domain of Heaven fell to the underworld like great meteors of rock and stone.
She dropped to her knees, stunned as she felt the cold of a knife in her back and hot blood down her back...as she grew weak the knife fell from her back, her now pale face turned to look apon her fathers face..."W-why?" She whispered as she fell to the floor, dieing.

its called the RP planning and discussion thread. thats what were doing, discussing stuff bout an RP.and others to. we talked alot bout zombies mine isnt done so im getting insight and whatnot here instead of throwin out a thread that might get nothing.plus im not postin it up for awhile,to let others die down.
Yes, I understand that. But if everyone starts posting their ideas like that at the same time, it'll get too cluttered.
Sure, discuss ideas - that's one thing. But if you start analyzing original post ideas and such things then it's going to keep on going for a long time.
As for planning - this thread is less about planning how you're going to actually run it and more about when you are going to run it.

Yours is friends with a magic cookie and a little goat girl, and Tails the Fox in a sailor suit.
Terrifying.
Paha. Pahahaha. Pahahahahahahaha!
*ahem*
Back on-topic please. God dammit why does every thread I post in seem to swiftly devolve into a despairing pit of off-topic? What have I done to offend thee so, Flying Spaghettii Monster? What have I done to deserve such a curse?

no,more advanced. it involved a level system. you started as a ripper,or the flying version, and you could think independently to a point unlike normal tyranids. it was kinda confusing but the story on why was pretty good....until it got deleted on accident.....
