C'mon now, everyone has one or two films that make you think you would rather drink a pint o something gross than admit to liking in public.
This ain't public, and it's totally guilt free! No one knows who you are, so let's hear them.....
1: Neverending Story
2: Split Second
3: Star Wars Ep 1.....
Let's not be gross just to be gross, it's rather rude.
I will say AVATAR (RDA should have won dammit!) Stupid xenos! i guess this is when the emperoro revealed himself though. to CRUsH THE LIFE OUT OF THOSE BLUE CAT-MONKIES)
Automatically Appended Next Post: I like Jar-Jar too.
Yeah, I said two and three specifically because most people I know like the first one...they think the second was alright...and everyone but me agrees that the third one is a load of gak...
ineptus astartes wrote:We Were Soldiers (not a bad film, but extremely violent.)
Saving Private Ryan (same)
Missing In Action. some say it was an awful film. chuck norris or no. but I think it was pretty good)
We Were Soldiers is one of my favorite movies of all time...don't care what anyone says about it...
The first half hour of SPR was good, the beach landings were awesome, and maybe even a few of the parts after that...but I refuse to watch the rest of the movie after that...doesn't make a lick of sense IMO...
Missing in Action was cool just because Chuck Norris was in it...

SPR was great...even if the later half was a bit contrived...
I honestly don't get Chuck Norris' popularity...he just seems like a fething doofus to me...

We Were Soldiers is AMAZING!!! sometimes, when my IG get charged i say "boys...prepare to defend yourselves!"
but for movies i Shouldnt like, but do: Oklahoma, Music Man, Last Holiday, Love Actually, Air Force One, Escape From New York, Airheads, i think i could go on forever...
Well I'm far too old to be enjoying Kung Fu Panda. I watched the first with my nephew today and honestly there are parts which rival Pixar for sheer visual beauty.
My friends used to roll their eyes at Big Trouble in Little China even though it has great action and cracking dialogue and more importantly is fully aware of its own silliness.
I also respect Waterworld for being one of the last great action flicks of the summer before CGI really took over. People got too fixated on the fact it was a disasterous production that ran well over budget. Despite all that, its not a bad film and did actually turn a profit in the end.
Although it is a really rubbish film, I don't mind watching Jaws The Revenge because it has Michael Caine in it and best of all you can clearly see the control cables trailing from behind the rubber shark.

...that's awesome, I'm going to remember that...
Air Force One...that was the one with Harrison Ford as the President right? Again, a movie I liked...
@ Ineptus...Only the last three minutes of that movie were good, I'll give you that...
I had to watch "Catch me if you can" in my Economics Class...long story...anyway, it was good even though a lot of people disagree with me...
Gremlins...my older step brother showed me that movie...fething hilarious...
Also "The Pest"
"For this scam to work we must convince people that I am....BLIND!!!"
Saw cocktail last year, what a FANTASTIC film, Serious btw.
Willow. Again it is obviously a fantastic film but i suppose i wouldnt admit to liking it.
Highlander is a fave but pretty crummy for the most part. Its awesome Premise and occasionally good script keeps it watchable though. Originally it was gonna be a dialogue light bitter rivalry movie between two immortals heavily inspired by 'The Duellists'. Shame that never came about.
'Hi! I'm candy....' 'Of course you are...........'

Best movie ever.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

I can just imagine 2 wraithlords going into CC in a 40k game and 1 player looks up slowly and says "there can only be 1!!!"

Oh yes my friend
@ Dajobe - Tremors is a great film and universally recognised as such. Again great dialogue ("Running's not a plan, running's what you do when a plan fails.") and again, more than aware of its own silliness.

Oh man! Split Second. Haha!! I used to love that movie. I should watch it again, it's been a LONG time. But along the Rutger Hauer line, I'd also have to say Blind Fury. It's a terrible movie, but for some reason I love watching it.
I admit that I'm a fan of the Saw films (Yes, all the way up to Saw 3D) and I enjoyed all three Cube movies (Cube, Cube 2: Hypercube, and Cube Zero). Oh, and I actually enjoyed Final Destination 3 and The Final Destination...

Man, I'm way too into gory movies like those.
Naw, not really...the Saw series wasn't that bad, Cube films were actually pretty good and the first 2 Final Destination films were pretty funny IMO.
All 3 of the Feast movies
Any of the Scifi originals (just because they're so hilariously bad)
Cannibal Holocaust (disturbing enough to scare multiple people out of my room in less than 5 minutes with this)
also, the moderators would swoop in and give the customary "now dont do that, its wrong and innapropriate"
to which i reply "okay...but it wasnt THAT bad..."
I find the Friday the 13th films amusing mostly because of the plot. "Set in an isolated, large summer camp full of trees and surrounding a lake, they tell the story of an invincible murder-zombie with a machete versus hundreds and hundreds of defenseless balls of teenage female innocence. It's time to play GUESS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!"
ineptus astartes wrote:Lousy, paper thin slashers. I hate them.
Wait!..You mean to tell me that slasher flicks lack depth and character development...the hell you say.. The whole genre is for the most part very visceral...made for fun...not deep thought.
Love this film, back when Lohan was a Hollywood darling and not the train wreck she is ATM.
Legend of the Guardians, the Owls of Ga'hoole- people always look at me weird for this. This is a standout example of how Zack Snyder can shine with stunning visuals, which have been a part of all of his films, regardless of what you think of them. I think the main problem is the somewhat misleading DVD cover:
This does not capture the feel of the film in any way IMO.
Those, are my "dirty little secret" films. Apparently.

Mean Girls Rocks!!! no one should ever be ashamed to admit they like that movie!!!
I got one , the remake of the pink panther. I should hate it but i cant help but watch it when i see it on tv. "I would like to buy a hamburger" still makes me laugh.

Midnight Chronicles (FFG Movie, but to be fair, I was an extra, along with most of my family on my moms side)
All 7 police academies
Newsies
Waterworld
Ultramarines
Final Destination series. Super formulaic, but I can't help but enjoy watching the ingenious ways that generic teenagers get killed. Note, this does not extend to the Saw series, which I intensely dislike.
Some of Arnies best one-liners are in 'Commando'...
"Don't disturb my friend, hes dead tired"
" Remeber when I said I'd kill you last?"
*Bad guy jibbers*
"I lied"
And the aforementioned "Let off some schteem Bennet"
ineptus astartes wrote:*glances around* (whispers) "The Spongebob Squarepants Movie"
Uh, I also love that movie...I actually saw it in theaters....I don't care what people think, I believe that show is fething hilarious. I mean, they had a Nosferatu reference in one episode!
Commando has a message: The armie makes you gay...... And australian. It also makes you think a chainmail vest can cover your Moobs.
Was Arnie, king of all men not in the army!?
While Bennet was indeed a comically overweight villain with a Freddie Mercury tash and a fetish for chainmail, he wasn't overtly gay, and Arnold was all kinds of awesome!
The message was basically that Commando's can kill 500 men on their own, throw security guards around like pigeons, and survive grenades exploding next to their feet by doing a bit of a jump and rolling a little bit.
Hate to burst your bubble there mattyrm, but Arnie HAD to join the army. Austria still has a conscription plan in place....
But that does not make him anyless badass!
I like commando but don't see a reason why I shouldn't. It's awesomeness.
Arnie speaks entirely in one-liners and it dispenses with a 'love interest' using the female character as sidekick/comic relief, and instead gets on with the action. He rips chains apart with his bare hands, tears telephone booths out the ground and walks around immune to bullets firing an M60 single handed from the hip. This is what 80s action movies were for, who wants realism?
"I eat green berets for breakfast, and right now, I'm real hungry!"
"Don't disturb my friend, he's dead tired"
"You know I said I'd kill you last? I lied"
And after dumping baddie off cliff - "I let him go"
I just saw "The Presidents Man" with Chuck Norris last night. It was so bad that it was good. It was supposed to be action but i was laughing my butt off the entire movie. Totally recommend it, as long as you dont take it seriously.
300 horrible movie, not really true about only 300 spartans vs the Persians and the fact I am a history nut so i keep pointing out the mistakes in the movies I watch that are based on historical movies. Though it was fun to watch.

I have a mate just like you. Did you really think it was meant to be an accurate representation? It was based on a comic, based on some guys idea about that battle. I saw 300 for the first time like 2 weeks ago. I liked it, apart from my mate trying to ruin it.
Which ever power rangers movie which has that floating head. And the bad guys were using this purple poisin to do something. Memory is real hazy, but it was fun.

:O
Purple goo, and it was used to brain wash peeps into evil guys.
Yep, awesome movie.
I was going to say Eragon, but then I remembered that the huge chunks of missing plotline, the myriad errors, and the fact that they fethed up the storyline so much that sequel films for 'Eldest', 'Brisingr' and the upcoming 'Inheritance' books are now impossible, made me hate whatever was to be liked about it.

You know it wasn't meant to be a teaching tool on the realities of ancient Mediterranean politics and conflict right? Complaining about a story told as myth/tall tale is a fairly ridiculous reason not to like it.
daedalus wrote:Just about any John Carpenter movie. They're so bad they're good!
Also, honorable mention goes to classic B movie, "The Stuff".
Excepting The thing obvious, that is just an amazing film.
... ..And the Original Halloween...that film is an absolute masterpiece of modern horror.
That is Carpenter?
I stand corrected then.
Yup, sure was...
Carpenter has put out quite a few decent films..( In the Mouth of Madness, Big Trouble in Little China, Escape from New York ) as well as a few...meh films as well ( Vampires, They Live)...though They Live is good for some laughs.

According to one of my pervious teachers, she believed 300 was an accurate representation of the battle at thermoplaye which it isn't.
Spartans don't get angry, they don't listen to hard rock, they listen to calm soothing music. Because they wanted to be perfect. No Anger to disturpt them. They didn't fight as indiviuals but as a group.
Also The movies i shouldn't like are all on Science theater 3000. I love that show.

Dont like the movie that much, dont hate it but find it hilarious when Leonida wont take in the handicapped guy because the spartans fight as a group...next scene, after 3 seconds of group fighting they break up and everyone goes lone wolf. i started laughing when i first saw this.

That is why you don't ask Art Teachers what they think about history.
Holy hell, someone else on earth has heard of that movie!?
I like Uwe Boll's video game adaptations. All of them. They're so agonizingly awful. I've seen all of them in theaters, except Postal because Postal was so offensive it didn't get a very wide release.
In fact, I like Postal. Absolutely no irony in this case. If you're familiar with the game the film is based on, it is as perfect an adaptation as you can get.

...Seriously? I watched 20 minutes of BloodRayne and had to turn it off. It was one of the biggest pieces of poop I've ever seen. From what I understand, all of his movies are like that.
Isn't there an online petition to get Uwe Boll to stop making movies?

I watched House of the Dead and god as my witness I honestly wanted to put my boot through my TV screen 20 minutes into the film...Had it not been for Clint Howard...I very well may have.

Pull up tinkerbell! Pull up! PULL UP!!!
i love how bad the movies are XD. The horror/science films are terrible, especially the one with the women that are apparently super agents that are trying to save humanity from drugs?
At least you didn't pay to see it, Fitzz, unless you for some ungodly reason bought the DVD. Me and my friends went to the theater to see it cuz we like the video game... This was, in hindsight, a terrible, terrible decision.

I love Saw.
All of them. Every last Saw movie. I do think the fourth or fifth (not sure which) is the weakest of the series, but I love them. I am, in fact, mourning the fact that the seventh is the end.
Just about any John Carpenter movie. They're so bad they're good!
Words fail to express the above statement. Assault on Precinct 13 (not the one with Ethan Hawke) is immense, as the the others already mentioned - and The Thing is probably my favourite movie of all time (at the moment)...
For me a lot have already been said - Split Second is quality - Rutger Hauer at his best
Dark Angel with Dolph Lundgren stands out of my VHS collection. I like the premise but it's filled with the usual cliches that you'd expect...
Why would I expect to find the film poster on photobucket, when it's obvious the search 'Dark Angel' would be filled with pathetic emo and solumn looking angels. Jessica Alba didn't turn up until page 9 & not a dark green (or black) power-armoured guy in sight...and why are all the film posters for it in any language but english? Anyway...
The tagline on my video is: 'A Totally Lethal Alien' - not just lethal but TOTALLY lethal - yeah
Spoiler:
If you've watched the Trailer you don't need to see the movie
Deathshead420 wrote:wing commander lol the kilrathi scenes are sooo bad. The only thing that save that movie is Matt Lillard.
Yeah i think its the supporting actors that just about save it, jurgen prochnow, david suchet, david warner and tcheky karyo don't disgrace themselves too much, i'm a sucker for space battles anyway so i forgave it freddie prinze.
I honestly didn't think it was as bad as people said it was. IT had some cool effects and there were a lot of parts that were entertaining. That being said, it had no real substance either and the dialogue was really weak at some points.

Hopefully they will do better with the sequel.
It was a little bit far fetched too. I wouldve rathered other super villians rather than the devil and his lackies.
I dont think they going to have a sequel though, seeing as it wasnt a very popular movie

Speaking of cliches and stereotypes...its cheesy, and the acting is just plain hilarious with how serious the actors are trying to be despite the fact that its so bad...
If I'm not mistaken, Heinlein was a fascist, and if you take the film Starship Troopers as a parody of the book as I understand it (I admit I haven't read it *ducks thrown objects*), it's actually hilarious and well-done. But I should read the book before I make that judgement call.
EDIT: glancing through his Wikipedia bio, I seem to be mistaken, though he did apparently intend for the bugs in Starship Troopers to represent Communism, and that Communism is something humans cannot adhere to because they're so individualistic. Dunno where I got the "fascist" thing from.
Yeah, IIRC the book was quite serious, but from what I understand the movie bears only a superficial resemblance to the book. The movie, 100%, strikes me as a parody of militaristic, jingoistic fascism.
I agree with "Ineptus Astartes", Ultramarines the movie FTW!!! I loved every second, I'm not a fan of the chapter, but who cares, if codex pictures made the hands red (Crimson fists) there would STILL be whining about people wondering why CODEX didn't make them Ultramairnes (No one is ever pleased!)
If you watch this movie, have the cranial and ocular scrubbing stations loaded and ready! You will not survive the Battle Stags, Surveillance Doe's, or Bronco.
