Whenever I am painting I always drop stuff. I drop my paintbrush, with paint on it, at least 3x every painting session and the model I am working on once or twice. Now that's okay. I don't mind what colour my floor/foot is and the paintbrush is always easily cleaned.
But today I dropped my paintbrush on my cat. With fresh paint on it. Will she be okay? Is the paint toxic to cats? It was slightly watered down GW Bestial Brown, and only a tiny amount of it. I tried cleaning it but she already licked it off before I found it. (Just my luck, Bestial Brown on a brownish cat.)
I know it's safe for humans since I haven't killed myself with it so far...
This is an odd question. I'd say he's fine. My cats have eaten SWFW pads, and they've just pooped them out, no harm done. Paints are less toxic than the resin that FW uses, I think.
I've heard of a lot of peoples' cats drinking water from their painting cups, and haven't heard about any ill effects from that. Couldn't imagine this being any different.

My cat does that. Even when she's got a clean fresh bowl of water on the floor next to me. Cats are idiots.
Seriously though your cat should be fine, my dogs have gotten Regal Blue noses before and they are ok. One of them decide to lick a wet Raider to and he's just fine. I wouldn't worry about it.
This book is real? If so, let me join: Also, I thought my cat was the only one drinking water from my paint cup when I gave him a fresh bowl of water 5 minutes ago

Quick, someone get onto the Proposed Rules forum for 40K and write up stats for a cat for Apocalypse!
Isn't that a giant squiggoth? lol
And BTW, w/ all the brushes I've licked I'm still fine (mostly) so the cat will be too I'm certain.
I have, for some time, been considering dressing my cat up as a Khorne Lord of Battles to go with my CSM army. However I'm concerned it would be a battle I would not win (him having lightning claws and furious assualt and all that)
Those things are bloody annoying Possibly not as useless as the email notifications I get from ebay.
Ebay: Some items you might be interested in! Me: No gakk Batman! Genius predictive marketing. I have had those listed in my watched items for the last 6 days!

Mine is a paint cup drinker as well. In fact he will pretty much only drink from the paint water cup, you put fresh water down for him and he sprills it all over the place, gets mad that he is now wet, and comes and drinks from the paint water.
Cats don't seem to like fresh water at all. Mine only drink from the pond in my garden, or from random cups of water if left unattended for a while.
One of my cats once drank some tea!
And thats why I own a little football dog (shih-tzu dachsund mix). To small to jump on the hobby table, but still dog enough to obey when i say "down."
(football dog: any dog small enough that they can be easilly kicked between the goal posts for 3 points)
Caffeinated cats...LOL reminded me of a sign in a pet store:
Attention Customers. Unattended children will be given an Espesso and a free puppy.
i hate to ruin the mood but caffine is toxic to cats, as well as most house hold products, even things like a mild paracetomol or asprin could kill them x) they might be designed to hunt kill slaughter and stalk but there livers and kidneys suffer, as for paint? xD my cats (all 3) have licked my gaurdsmen -.- taking both dry and wet paint over the years o.o apart from titch (who was the runt) they were fine, x) well apart from the aformentioned titch, who threw up... in my filling cabinate -.-

Lol! When I watched this as soon as my cat heard them enjoying a hit from the bong he came to see what was going on! He has been displaying some weird behaviour lately - there must be a bush near our house somewhere.
My cats used to steal this certain type of teabags after my father made tea with them, and they would lick it and hug it and play with it... Maybe there was catnip in it or something.
I made them a toy pirate mousey and put some of that tea in it and they totally loved it.
Was wondering if it could have been bergomont. It is used in Earl Grey and there is also a bergomont tea. But the plant doesn't seem to be related to catnip.
My Siberian Husky has destroyed around $100 in IG Chimeras, my brother's old metal Brother Captain, some High Elf Elysian Steeds and a handful of cold hard cash. I think she's working in league with my cats.
And of course the lazy cat who can't be bothered to avoid the models and wants to lie down ends up crushing ENTIRE SQUADS in one go. In the middle of a game XD
We used to have a dog we called "The Destroyer of Worlds" because back when we used to play M:TG we'd play on the floor usually and he'd come running through the house and trigger a minor apocalypse.
It was one way to balance our resident TFG who always bought the best cards and subsequently always won every game.
I got some Hippie friends and their smoking buddies are their cats.Once they smell it they come a running or hear the lighter.BTW brainscan,my wife just loves your avatar of the kitten.
I've given my kittens a Deff Kopta too keep them distratcted while I try to paint. It doesn't always work. One of them has already chewed off one of the propellers. The same one has picked up a mini in its mouth to try to take it away. I've also given them several Space Marines to play with.

I can't remember the last timed I LOLed so much! This is really a thread to remember!
I can almost imagine my cat painted up like an Orc... and if used as a hill, in Storm of Magic games it can be a great way to demonstrate how Ribauld's Retroactive Illusion works!
Well maybe I can't picture my cat in Goblin Green after all...
Artemis doesn't care about modelling, unless the miss is doing it, luna, however, takes it upon herself to always knock it out of my hands, not play with it, just knock it down, like she means business. I usually pull out my scouts when I model, as a distraction, so I can model in peace.
Inb4 I named my cats after the cats from sailor moon(I did).
Yep, I used the scouts from my battleforce, since I only got 4, and I wouldn't use them anyway. The measuring sticks might work too, if you have a tape measure or ruler already.
Just make sure it doesn't happen too often as GW paints contain lead (dun dun dun). My cat once attacked the air cord of my airbrush dropping on her the equivalent of a pot of Scab Red, she still doesn't get close to the bath when she is in my arms.

If there is lead in any Citadel paints I have yet to have a pot with a nice big warning label on lt.
If GW are putting lead in paints and not telling would think that would be seriously frowned upon by the authorities.
It is not going to be the case. Unless you have definite proof?

Thanks for that Norsehawk.
Sorry to make such an amusing thread serious.
My paints have AP and CE symbols.
CE marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the appropriate provisions of the relevant legislation implementing certain European Directives. CE marking gives companies easier access into the European market to sell their products without adaptation or rechecking. The initials "CE" do not stand for any specific words but are a declaration by the manufacturer that his product meets the requirements of the applicable European Directive(s).
Have seen web comments about ASTM standards so in the USA it should have this on the label?
What does Conforms to ASTM D-4236 on your packaging mean?
ASTM stands for American Society for Testing and Materials Standards. ASTM D-4236 is a labeling practice for products that contain art materials. An evaluation is to be conducted by a board-certified toxicologist. The evaluation ensures that the product is not expected to pose any significant chronic adverse health effects to humans via ingestion or skin contact when the products are used as intended or under circumstances involving reasonable foreseeable misuse. As according to the U.S. Product Safety Commission "Parents and others buying art materials, school supplies and toys such as crayons, paint sets, or modeling clay should be alert and purchase only those products which are accompanied by the statement Conforms to ASTM D-4236."
All in all I would say that there is likely to be no problem with Citadel paints. Not sure what the penalties are for contavening the regs but would not like to be in GW's boots if they did.
HTH
Re the Cat/paint issue. Has anyone tried soaking their decorated felines in Simple Green overnight? Should remove all unsightly paintjobs and probably hair.
The Citadel paints I have are made in France so they must be edible.
The definition of omnivore: An animal or person that eats all things ie a Frenchman.
My cat drinks from my paint water, from my water glass, and refuses to drink from his bowl. He constantly throws food in the water, making it nasty, so he seeks my drink. Today, I attempted to get a Yoo-Hoo (feeling nostalgic for childhood) and he tried to drink that from the can. Anyway, I have no issues with him on my gaming table. He doesn't knock models over, he doesn't try to eat them (however, I am missing an apothecary....) and he pretty much ignores warhammer stuff in general. He's the perfect cat. He's also totally obedient and actually COMES when I call him. He also likes to cuddle with people. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure he had his mind switched with a dog. Just don't rub his belly...death soon follows.

Totally obedient? Really? Mine is the exact opposite! In fact sometimes when I call him or say stuff to him - I'm sure if he could he'd give me the finger (or would that be toe/paw?) or tell me to bugger off! Although he is quite cuddly and does like to be around people - but affection is only on his terms and when he wants - and it usually involves him pummelling me!

That is much the like the cat we have here.
The old cat used to jump on to the table and knock everything off. He also seemed to seek paint out a lot, when we redecorated the kitchen there were tiny white gloss paw prints all over the place.

Well, my cat does occasionally pummel me too. I was chilling with friends one night, playing Mortal Kombat on the Xbox and he just walked over to me, looked me in the eye and hauled back and b***h slapped me in the face. It was so funny I couldn't even get mad. He does tend to go nuts at midnight, but he never harms warhammer. Sometimes, if pet the wrong way, I think he's rabid, cause he just attacks. But, ever since I saw Quarantine, I thought catching rabies might be fun
1. Is there a good method for basing?
2. How would I go about converting to inquisitor scale?
1: I find that corkboard and sand work pretty well.
2: I hope you're comfortable with green stuff. Or have a spare bobcat lying around. That might make things easier.

Pikachu cat? Mega lol How did they do that? If you painted a cat - even with an airbrush - it'd go all soggy and bedraggled - he looks all cute & fluffy.

Not sure. I know you can dye an animal a solid color, because my sister (who gets whatever she wants) got her yapper dog dyed pink. No idea how they did the spots though, because they're fairly clean circles, and the colors would most likely bleed.
My cat loves drinking my paint water. Occasionally it stains their whiskers and fur. I have also sometimes found the odd mini in their trophy pile. They also do not like the smell of modeling glue.
Well at least my cat is nice enough to offer me a trade for the paint she eat and the models she attacks. At night she goes out, catches a live frog, and gives it to me. She does this at least 2 times a week. And the frogs are usually completely unharmed. She just picks them up and puts them inside.
Thank you, cat. Now I have to go out in the rain to put the frog back. Again.
Maybe I should start using them as interesting terrain pieces for my next game.
I have suspected for a long time that my cat has been secretly plotting against me - trying to cut me up as I walk down the stairs - pummelling me to see if I'm ready to be consumed - this article is the proof that I have been looking for!
All cats seem to revel in the surprise attack! One of mine used sit on the back of a chair then it would howl at you to come over and give it attention. Of course once you got in swiping distance up would come the paw and wallop! Another would grip your arm with its front paws and then with claws fully extended proceed to shred your under arm. It was playing. Seriously. All the time biting your fingers, the amount of times I ended up covered in blood. She was still a great cat. Had the wrong idea about what play is though.
That cat looks so ticked he has butterfly paint on him. That said I've painted my black german shepard with blood red before to make it look like Indian warpaint, he turned out alright....for a dog...
My cat ate my entire Skaven Mordiheim warband though. So that says something about thier intellience.
I've got some new born kittens that are going to be TWC for about a week. Just glue 3 out of four paws down to the base. Double sided tape for the rider and we're all set.
God, they are smart little buggers arn't they....a little to smart sometimes.....
I have two cats, one is a little house cat and is as usless as a two dollar bill. The other one tho, shes way to smart for her own good. She sits and talks with us at night time, telling us about her day. She turns up in the most random of places, like the linnin closet, in the coin part of my arcade game. But she never fails to amuse us......except when she brings home her 'little treats' for us. She will usually sit in the fromt yard with her half dead mouse batting it if it tries to get away.
Also when she was a kitten, she would junp on top of the book shelves and wait until someone was around, then start swatting pics and other stuff off.....but only if there is one of her 'humans' around....she also has several 'human shaped thrones' that she likes.....
So...in the end cats are jerks =o] I live mine, but there jerks.
