Hi all. How many points of your main 40k army do you have? I have about 2500 points of Death Guard. So, how many points do you have?

I have approxamatly (WORD BUTCHERING) 5000 points of vanilla space marines, and approx. 1k of that is bit bashed spacemarine veterans.

I'm quite unsure, as some of my models I haven't even figured out what they are yet (sad, sad, Death guard on a plague horse).

With some estimation I'd say around 1750 Word Bearers and around 1850 points of but I will never field 200 points of it ( worthless Flayed Ones).

Ah, 5000 points of Vanilla marines is quite a bit. And, I once started a Word Bearer army, Sunoccard. 1750 points is a good, average sized army.

Although it was made by me getting free stuff that people didnt want for like... 5 bucks for a landraider, which i took. and other stuff that i decided i felt like getting slowly.

About 7000 pts of Necrons

2000 pts or a little under of Dark Eldar

about 300 pts of Daemons (2 models for painting jollies..)

I probably have a little over 2500pts of Chaos in all its forms (Marines and Daemons)
About 1000pts of Orks.
About 1200pts of Blood Angels/Flesh Tearers.
About 1500pts of Necrons.

Not a whole lot of it is painted.
But that's what I've been doing for the past few days, so it's all coming along slowly

up to 2k of orks running only the good stuff and up to 3k if I start fielding fun but useless units.

I estimated about 4k but I am pretty sure it might be over 5k. I never sat down and added it up but I have pretty much everything for I could want for space marines. Minus some hero HQ's.

Good question. Lets see:

Probably about 6000 worth of IG, 5000 or so worth of GK, including my old metal stuff. At least 3000 of Tyranids, probably 3000 worth of Space Marines, and then about 500 or so worth of Witch Hunters (old codex).

Not all of the GK stuff is actually assembled, and SM, GK and IG are the only things actually really painted. 2000 of the SM is painted, about 3000 or so of the IG is painted (to various levels of quality), and then about 1500 or so of the GK is painted.

I'm working on it.

I still have around 5k points of IG in various states of assembalage. And around 2k points of SM left from around 15K.

I have gotten rid of around 30 to 40k points of models over the last few years: IG, SM, Eldar, Orks and Necrons.

My friend still has around 25k of orks alone and around 15k of SM.

We have both been collecting for a number of years, only my ol' pal has 2 rooms dedicated to games storage.

I have about 3600ish points of Imperial Guard and about 700 points of black templars.

I have about 1800-2k of Tau depending on Upgrades (Squad Leaders and Kroot armor Saves)

I've actually got something like 5000pts of Necrons, but not all are quite yet assembled. Just had a huge buy and am currently working on building it all up and then I've got to run to the paint store to get the paints to paint it all. After all that's done I'll have to do another points recount. I know I'm close to filling up all slots in everything of the FOC 0...0

I do admit that I've got alot of points invested in HQ's though, both C'tan and 6 lords... whee!!!

I've got between 9 and 10k worth of Tau, filling out 99% of the FOC allowed with farsight [save 2 piranhas]

Recently started an Elysian drop troops army, which, when the most expensive stuff is taken, is just shy of 1500 points. Elysians have been really fun so far. Vulture w/ 4 MRP, twin-linked from the ground scanner... kills stuff dead.

Depending on variables, somewhere around 2750. Salamanders.

Only like 60 actually, the points get stacked with nobz, bikes and some big tanks.

Still a fair sized army.

Roughly 7000 points in Orks (enough for a footslogging build, a trukk mounted build, a wagon rush build, a nobz focused build, a bike heavy build, at least one of each elite unit and HQ (multiple lootas, Meks and Bosses) and some misc heavy support.)

And around 1600 in Crimson Fists.

The Fists are 75% painted, the Orks, probably about 65%.

Do people actually field a full army of boyz?
180 boyz for like 1000 points would be pretty damn fun to play.

I've fielded an army of boyz (180) and Nobz (30) before.

Squeaky tide (180 grots) is also hilarious

The largest army you could have of just ork boyz and foot soldiers is 317 guys.
An endless table of boyz.

My favoured build is a Big Mek 120 boyz, 16 lootas (in two squads), 15 Kommandos (with Snikrot) and some Grotz with however much is left over.

It does okay, the biggest problem is heavily mechanised armies- popping the tanks isn't a problem, but when they explode and kill a third of the boyz in the mob, and then you get shot/charged, that is!
I could run 180 boyz but I think having a few specialist mobz makes it more interesting. I'd put in a mob of stormboyz if I was going any higher in points.

I've done 7 trukks before, too. Warboss on bike, Meganobs in a trukk, 6xSlugga boyz in trukks with rockets, and some buggies. Worked a charm in 4th, not so great now (can't hide the trukks!)

Another fun build is Elite Orks. Take two bosses, a Nobz squad and a meganobz squad, season with Kommandos, Lootas and Burnas in a Battlewagon. This was a joke build I put together that was suprisingly effective!

I need to do a new army listing, but I have at least 4000pts worth of Space Wolves (it's probably closer to 4500pts now). I also have just over 2000pts worth of Tyranids.

A really hilarious one is when you have your table half in some missions chockablock with greenies, and win the first turn against a deep-striking or outflanking army. You can pretty much force them into a thin strip at the back of their edge, with luck, especially if yuou included 3 squads of kommandos to infiltrate and (if you have snikrot's ladz) ambush up the rear..

I ended up one time having a daemons player having his units pop up in a 12 inch wide strip of table, 4 feet across Awesome battle. as his daemons fought for breathing room in the green flood..

Greentide is also awesome for objective games

120 boyz is a lot! Also, my Dark Angel CM is amazing for objective matches.

Army wise i have no idea collectioni have 7500pts of vanilla marines. 15000pts of imperial gaurd ( including 5 superheavies) 2500pts of SoB i think about 3000 orks and same for nids pluss loads of points for 3 warhounds and 2 reavers. So i would estimate within the 30000pts mark

I have what my sig says. That plus the genestealers from Space Hulk and what ever amount of Orks you get from the AOBR. And a few hundred Lotr figures a cousin gave me at some point.

Okay i'll sound off as well:

About 10-11,000 points of Tyranids (including a bio titan and 2 hierodules)
2550 points of Necrons (Deciever and nightbringer, though, so only 2250 fieldable)
And about 4000 points of Tau (Haven't tallied it all up yet, recieved a huge army in trade for some space wolves last month).

I could put a solid down payment on a house for what I've spent, although spread over 15 years

I just counted whatever the models were modelled with, so no stikkbombs or whatever unless the chucka was on the trukk. One exception was that I upgraded my Wierdboy to a Warphead, because I don't think anyone would actually run one as a wierdboy!

Simply adding the 3 bio-titans from Forgeworld adds around 2500 points to a Tyranid collection. And gives them some nice Apocalypse things to play with.

My main army is CSM Black Legion, my own Deamon Prince/Lord, I tend towards Khorne as I have many Beserkers w/ there beloved Brass Scorpion and Thunderhawk. My next projects include Tower of Skulls and a Blood Cauldron soon. I also need way more bikers as they are hard to find, and Obiterators but that will be fixed next month.

I just counted the points of my fully painted miniatures. I'm not counting assembled and primed. The models had to be 100% complete for this list.

Some people have played for 15 years or more, so at 1000 points per year per army, that's easy!

I started in 2008, so in 3.5 years, I painted 300 points a month.

TBH a lot of it is e-bay! My Eldar army was literally made up of a battleforce and whatever I could get on ebay that I was prepared to pay! My friends laughed at it as a hotch-potch thrown together army without thought until it tabled their necrons...

I did a census of my main Tyranid army and (when put into Apoc formations) found 7000 in a finished or near-finished state.

Got about 1.5K of my second Nid army, and I guess maybe 750pts of Orks so far.

I pointed out about 8k in just BA today. And that was just for a coherent fluffy task force.

It's hard to say how many points you really have in this game...

Something like:
5000 in Space Marines
4000 in Tau
3000 in Chaos Daemons

That many points doesn't really amount to a ton of models, though. Except for the Tau (their vehicles are so huge and awkward!) each army fits in a single case.

I've always been fascinated by these sorts of questions as I'm never really sure what criteria anyone actually uses to classify the info.

That said - I've always sort of wanted to know the answer for myself - so here's to trying. Here's the rules I ended up using;

1. Field-able squads - I don't care if I happen to have that random extra dude with a Heavy Weapon, if I can't field him as part of a squad then I can't really field him, so he doesn't matter.

2. FoC be damned - it's just about what I can field.

3. Field them as I do - Yeah, I could get more points by adding extra upgrades to squads, but if it's not something I would actually do (like NS on Raiders - which I only do in specific lists) then I'm not doing it.

4. Most expensive load outs possible - I have a few things that I field in a variety of ways, when possible I do use the more expensive option (so, My Dias of Destruction which I also field as a Ravager - now it's a Dias, same goes for some of my 'counts as' stuff - like an Archon figure I also use for Sliscus)

5. I really respect the people who have their armies fully painted. I'm counting everything that's assembled and at least has paint on it - so basecoat counts, but sitting in a bitz box does not.

Let's go;

Dark Eldar (prime army): 7,568 (fun factoid - over 2,000 points of HQs alone...what the fug?)

Orks: 6,047

Space Marines: 10,200
- Raven Guard: 3,200
- Imperial Fists: 4,000
- Space Wolves: 3,000

Craftworld Eldar: 8,608 (includes a Revenant Titan - my only 'Apocalypse' model)

Necrons: 3,463

Grand total of everything - 35,886 not an unreasonable showing of nerd potential methinks.

Interesting exercise. I think what I really learned is that it's silly the amount of points that Marines come out to - I could fit all my Space Marines easily into the space my DE fill, and I would have space left over - and yet the Marines are worth substantially more points. Same with the Orks - I've got a stupid huge pile of Orks, and yet there they are, pretty darn affordable at around 6k. (my Necrons do more than half of that? Those dudes fit in like 1 box - it's silly)

So, I think after looking at all of this I have two thoughts;

Anyone with more than 6,000 worth of Orks and not using any Apoc units...holy cow, I salute you and your shelf space!

Also, I don't think anyone yet has more DE than me - so...huzzah for me! My paper planes shall blot out the sun!

I have done an 16,000 point team game (4,000 to a side) using my DE and ignoring Force Org. It was a lot of fun and actually didn't take much longer than a regular game, though we all made conscious decisions just to bring more expensive and fancier options as opposed to 'more' options.

I once played in an 100k points match.

Hm, I know I posted with an estimate earlier, but now I've gotten curious... I simply MUST remember to total up my armies when I get home. That won't be for about another week, though.

Edit: It'd also be useful for insurance purposes, in case of some natural disaster taking out the house. Of course, by then, we'll have much bigger issues on our hands than just ruined minis.

In all honesty, i haven't played to many games period, and they've all been against freakin marines... god i hate other marines lol. I have aquired a baneblade though, so apoc may be in my future.

Yes, Baneblades are really nice.

With my Necrons, if I include my pylons, I can field exactly 12,312 points, with everything fully loaded.

My Chaos Space Marines can usually hit 2,500 points if I push it with the wargear.

My Loyalist SM can barely get to 1,000 points, if I'm lucky.

Not counting any upgrades, just counting base model points cost, I've currently got 1726 points worth of models in my Thousand Sons army.

If I fully deck out everything (and ignore FOC) I can hit 2226 points. XD

And apart from one half-painted Rhino and my brand new Thousand Sons forgeworld dread, everything is painted.

I'm sitting around 6k in GK at the moment and its my only army. Necrons were my first army and I had about 4,500pts, then started a Crimson Fists army and that got to about 3,000pts, and went to Tyranids for about 3,500pts.

My question is to those of you who have multiple massive armies, do you play often enough to use them all or do you play apocalypse and run everything as one army?

There’s also 1200-1500 of Tau that a friend gave me, but they’re more for 40K RPG purposes than for playing 40K (I’d never willingly play Tau... ick! *shudder*). There's also some Ork stuff that probably comes out to around 1000 points, and an Adeptus Mechanicus army that, I 'spose, would work out around 2000-3000 points if you were using equivalencies from various armies.

I've been collecting for about 8 years and I've only got 1300 points of eldar. Then again I did trade of a lot of my old Chaos to help my groupmates get 2000 points of Nids, 2000 points of Tau, apox. 2000 orks. I was quite glad that someone besides me was interested.

I've never done a decent count that I can recall. I know I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-3.5k points, total, split between Orks and Space Marines. Painting has been mostly focused on the Orks, which have more models, by far, but with the relative costs and number of vehicles, the points split is probably pretty even.

Just started, 350 points army ( 1 tactical and 1 Terminator squad ).

I've been collecting citadel miniatures for 25 or so years, so the numbers build up. Of course I have collected and sold off probably 4 times what I currently list in my sig as active 40k armies as well. Have had one of just about every 40k army (except Tau) and multiples of some as well (2 space marine armies, 2 nurgle and slaanesh armies and 2 IG armies). Just found myself with so much less mini building time now. 2 armies presently in the queue is more than I can deal with at the moment. That income doesn't come free after all have to spend plenty of my time earning it.

I am trying to be good and not buying anymore Dark Eldar until I build what I have already purchased. This is definitely new territory for me. I've always been a "Buy the whole army and build it eventually" type collector. Have to see if I can stick to my guns. So far I've been mostly successful with that plan.

Yeah, I have been meaning to sit down and count everything for a while now but I haven't due to the time consuming nature of going through my various army cases and organizing everything into cohesive forces. Just taking a group picture of my IG a few months ago ate up a large chunk of a Saturday afternoon.

Wow! Someone who is actually worse than me when it comes to "completeness" for a force. Hahahahahaha I like to make sure I have multples of most units in an army I am building "just in case", except for bigger vehicles. You just never know when you are going too fully fill out the entire force organization chart for a larger game. Or what your mood will be when you have to do so!

TBH the reason my tau army is so huge is because each list I have thought up, I have made into it's own cadre. Instead of buying just the units I'd switch to change the lists, I make distinct armies for each and so, APOCALYPSE! with MANTAS!

I actually got a lot neat. It doesn't look like much thou when i have it all on the table.

I have an entire company of Space Marines with the transports, tanks, artillery, dreadnoughts. Plus I've got a couple Land Raiders, a converted Damocles in the works, a boatload of scouts, thirty or so Terminators with characters, and assorted other stuff. I have never even bothered to put a point total to it, but I'm sure it's absurd. The entire company is being converted to a true scale slowly but surely, which means there are a lot of old school metal Marines being abandoned because converting them to true scale is too much work and I can't bring myself to butcher some of the OOP figures even if they end up 1000 times more awesome.

I also have a full rifle company of Imperial Guard represented mostly by old school metal Cadians for extra awesomeness.

Then there are my Tyranids (maybe 2000 points or so, don't play them much anymore), and the various models that round out my Genestealer Cult.

The sad part is, I barely play anymore (my collection goes back to 2E, obviously), but I still enjoy modeling and converting from time to time.
