Just got done watching Cowboys & Aliens (great movie imho despite the... odd name) and was extremely entertained by Harrison Ford's acting in his gruff role. When I saw him pull a close-range headshot on a large xeno thing with a revolver my mind went "I wanna see this guy as an IG Commissar!"
Now tell me, what actors do you think would make the best Commissar for a 40k movie involving IG?
I'm not suggesting a movie or anything, I just want to have some good lolz and ponder any interesting thoughts provided by any Dakka-ites who come across this thread.

Ok, Willam DaFoe as a VERY close second. I still think Samuel L. Jackson is perfect though. I'm just glad nobody said Ah-nold or Stallone. Just saw "Black Death" last night though, and I think Sean Bean (Boromir, for those you unfamiliar with the actor) would make a great Commissar with short hair too. He can be a *alternate name for "Rick"* and get the job done.

Connery has to talk slow to make sense.

Clint Eastwood.
Seriously, watch Gran Torino. Don't tell me he wouldn't make *the* perfect commissar. Communicating halfway through sneers and growls, threatening to shoot people and get off his damn lawn, extreme xenophobia, what's not to like about him as a Commissar? Edward James Olmos could be a good one too.
For a more "high fantasy" type Space Opera Commissar, Keith Urban wouldn't be a bad pick.
That said, I also think Morgan Freeman would make a good Commissar, in the "*almost* infinite patience but comes-down-like-a-ton-of-bricks-when-enough-is-enough" way. The sagely old man giving advice and patiently overseeing events until he can stand aside no longer sort of Commissar who then ruthlessly ends an incompetent officer and makes **** happen. Patrick Stewart would also make a good one in this role, but as a more energetic "at the front, lead them with verse" type.
Most other actors I see being mentioned would make better IG command officers.

Clint for Yarrick, Craig for Gaunt. Eastwood is just the prime Yarrick, I must say. I don't know about the flak storm, the march of time has hit DiCaprio like a bag of fething bricks. He's far from that baby-faced hearththrob for little girls he was in the 90s, and he's been picking interesting roles for himself. He could probably play the slightly more human Commissar, who understands the necessity of war and what he does, but also doesn't go Commissar Fukclaw on everyone's ass over every little thing.
