This is the first of hopefully many posts showcasing my work on ork conversions with a focus on Vehicles. Currently I am working on 5 different ork vehicles, a krawla-battlefortress, a count as Kill krusha, a junka with Kustom Force Field and a battle wagon.
I believe some pics are in order.
Here is the current state of progress of my krusha-battlefortress
Here is a pic of the front of the kill krusha tank
More pics will be coming of this soon.
here are some pics of the very WIP junka
and here are some pics of the battle wagon
here is the inside of it before it was painted (I haven't been able to get a good pic of it since its been painted)
Where did you get the first 2 tank bodies from? Ive seen a few Ork builders make some big ass tanks from some cheap tank toys, and if those are what Im talking about, let me know would ya? I plan on building some bigger stuff for my boyz down the road, and big ass tanks are what I need
Also, everything is looking pretty damn good so far, loving the blown out barrels so far
Thanks for the kind words. KingCracker, they were toy tanks but to be honest thats pretty much all I know, I got them from a friend of mine who was cleaning out his garage. (when they were still toy tanks)
Sorry to disappoint you but i couldn't find my copper wire so work on the 'deff-slicer' will have to wait. I did however start work on the orkified exhuast system.
once everything dries (the glue and the squadron green putty) that plasticard 'hang-nail will be cut off.
alright I got a little done this morning and yesterday after the last post.
First I added some orky fixin's to the very bland turret surrounding seen in one of the previous posts.
I also cut of the junkas unsightly plasticard hang-nail.
I also started thinking about the 'deff-slicer' and how I would probably want some sort of generator or transformer or something for the wire to come out of before being connected to the blades. So I cut Up a zzapp-gun from the battlewagon kit.
Last of all I closed off an opening in the back of the junka right under the High-voltage multiplier
Well I managed to find my copper wire, (it was hiding on my workbench which i haven't been doing my work at recently). So I experimented with it and after much frustration this is what i came up with
Alright hopefully This update will get some attention becuase I think i have some interesting stuff in store for everyone.
I was never quite happy with how I made the radar dish for the krawla battlefortress, mainly with the fact that it basically was just welded to a pole. So I dug through my bits boxes and found a metal deff dread leg from the previous version of the model, and mounted the radar dish on it like so:
However, now there isn't enough space for the antenna to rotate, so I'm playing around with the idea of using the part from a landraider that the heavy bolter/assault cannon is mounted on.
I figure that i will put an ork with binoculars or something in the big whole where the heavy bolters used to be, and mount the antenna in the smaller whole where a copula (I think thats the correct term) usually goes.
I have also undertaken a fifth ork vehicle project, I will be building a kustom battlefortress to use with the forgeworld rules, pics will be coming soon.
OK here is the start of the Kustom Battlefortress that i mentioned in the previous post.
as you can see i used the sides of a beat-up landraider and rhino.
I also orkified a second exhaust pipe on the mekboy junka. I will post pics of it later today.
Automatically Appended Next Post: no comments? hmm tough crowd...
Thanks nickmund, But I have a ton more work to do on everything before I can paint them, (or finish painting them in the case of the battlewagon)
I managed to pull myself away from minecraft long enough to do some more work.
I think it's coming along nicely. The rhino will make up the control section, though because of my lack of proper thinking due to minecraft withdrawal i glued plasticard on top of the rhino before I could add all the detail. Oh well I can always cut it off add the details, file/cut/sand off any superglue and then re-superglue it on.
I also worked on the firing platform.
The mounting brackets are for big shootas which have been magnetized for easy removal, and posing. Both the big shootas and mounting brackets are from the battlwagon kit, I received them as payment for converting a battlewagon for a friend of mine.
Ok I got some work done this morning on both the Krawla battlefortress and the Kustom Battlefortress.
I decided to go ahead and glue the landraider hull turret mount onto the krawla battlefortress. I then added a tank hatch with a magnet glued on it to the small hole, and magnetized the radar dish as well.
As for the Kustom Battlefortress I am working on control section diorama.
Sorry I haven't uploaded anything for a while, I've been busy. However, Fear Not Internet Citizens I have made some progress !
I have had half of a cannon barrel from some tank for quite some time, I think it came from one of the many Bitz Boxes i have purchased and I finally thought of a use for it.
I think that it looks suitably orky, though granted it is a bit lacking in the rivet and reinforcinz department.
I also thought of a rather difficult thing to add to the Krawler a sponson that traverses horizontal a line but can also turn a bit to get a nearly 180° field of fire this is the housing of the sponson inside there will be a few of these magnets:
I tried using one of those cheep magnets like the ones people put on the refrigerator with the adhesive on one side but they are just too weak and I have always been happy with magcraft rare earth magnets.
well the battle wagon has the 'ard case upgrade and you can clearly see where said models go. The battle fortress also has the ard case and it has firing points that double as access points, i will be making it have slightly different options than are normally allowed under the ork 'kustom' battle fortress datasheet in the imperial armour apoc book. the junka has the ard case too and I will have to work out a way for them to fire from the non accessible top hatch I have not thought that far on the krawla. and the killkrusha can't transport models
Just in case anyone was saying to themselves: "Oh my gosh how do you get so much stuff Primarch_of_mechmarines, I mean to be able to cut up land raiders and rhinos, You must be rich".
As Anvildude can tell you I have this amazing problem where people seem to just give me bits and tanks and stuff for cheap or free. Plus I am on good terms with all the veteran gamers at the FLGS and that helps alot.
ok I managed to think of some work to do on one of the vehicles thanks to anvildude's open topped question.
In case you couldn't figure it out, its a firing platform that will be completely enclosed once its done.
And In other news 3 of my favorite mods for minecraft have been updated to 1.8.1, so thats been sucking up alot of my time.
in case your wondering, they are industrial craft 2, Buildcraft and Equivalent Exchange.
I can feel my brain's thinking gubbinz starting up
on a related side note i just ordered some power cables from dragonforge 2 days ago (friday for me)
Automatically Appended Next Post: ok I started on the zzapp kannon. It's obviously just preliminary work. I'm not sure if i'm going to put it on the krawler or the battle fortress when its complete, though i think the krawla would be best. Here is the start of the mounting braces:
@monkeytroll I'm assuming its from the drop pod but I'm really not sure, you are correct however that it is going to be a holo-display
@jamessearle0 I still have to figure out what i'm going to use for rivets, I'll probly stop over to a local craftstore next weekend and pick up some really tiny beads.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay I finished the firing platform on the mekboy junka.
You can't see it from the pic but I chose to keep the back open mainly so people could see the inside and what-not, But the big mek in me also says: see dem der gubbinz in the back, dat's mah kustum forze field projectah it keep dah boyz good an safe, hur hur hur.
So yesterday i was moving a decommissioned HO train table from storage in the garage to my basement (to be used as a gaming table) and couldnt find the bolts, nuts, and washers. For the first time in my life i was happy that my grandfather was a hoarder with an emphasis on hardware.
Now you are probably saying to yourself Primarch, how in (insert name of deity here) glorious/accursed name is this relevant?
Well felllow internet citizens I will tell you. While i was looking for some bolts, nuts and washer of the correct size (which i couldnt find by the way) I found this
Spoiler:
Yes a tool for me to make rivets.
So without further trolling I give you what you were hoping for, PROGRESS
Alright so I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the normal battlewagon (non superheavy) is nearly done (95% done being built). The bad news, My cameras SD card died so i can't take pictures hopefully some time this week i can get a new one.
I mean difficult, but not in the way that it will be hard to get certain effects and colors, more in the way that the brush just wont like getting into certain places. I'm sure it will be doable, I just am guessing some parts may get aggravating. That's the deal with Orks though, I am in the same boat.
@Nathan138, I understand now and totally agree. @Anung Un Rama, glad you like everything
Ok well I just got a new SD card from walmart so here are the pics.
The 'sponsons' are havoc launchers which will obviously be rokkit launchers. The turret is going to be a zzap gun. Yes I know the ork doesnt have a head I will get to that after doing some painting. I will also be adding a barrel to the big shoota in the hull mount.
Wow, some nice work in here. I especially like the ramshackleness of that junka. Keep it coming. Oh, and that kannon-brace idea with the boardin' planks is totally looted.
:O youve been here thsi whole time and i have just missed all of this cool stuff, i feel like a proper melon. anyway, epic things happening on here, so many ork vehicles. subscribed
No matter about the glue for the ladder, I say! It will help the flamey look of the zappy gubbinz. But don't forget how they come together nearer the bottom.
Cool work, by the way. I like the mods to the looted wagon.
I'm glad everyone likes it, I think someone should give me an award, becuase this is one of the first truly original ideas I have had while scratch building. Whether or not someone has done something like this is besides the point because if they have I have not seen it before.
I'm also thinking of adding those little tesla coil things from the battle of maccrage (spelling?) force field fences, along the middle of the zap gun barrel between the spaces of the ladder struts. (pics later)
Since no one seems to have any ideas I shall dazzle your minds with a boring update on the little bit of work i have done for my Battle-Fortress. I made a top for it,(or bottom of the second layer depending on how you look at it) but don't worry its removable.
And please give me some ideas on what to do next on the krawla.
Something I'd suggest is to make the sides with smaller pieces- not smaller sides, but instead of a big slab of plasticard, maybe use a bunch of little triangles and plates, all stuck together. Would look a little more orky, I think.
Love the thought to put a jacobs ladder on top of your zap cannon. Very creative. i also like the battle fortress alot . you are doing a great job with it. love the free form orky architecture. Jobs a good un so far.
Thanks for doing those pics really really helps get perspective on the entire thing. ok first of all loving the krawler it is seriously cool but i think as a krawler it is a bit small, just because krawlers are surposed to be bigger the battle fortresses by quite a bit so that they can carry entire ork forces arond. still i think that it is looking very very serious, especially those guns on the front. maybe a trallier for the krawler on the back where you can fit the things it is surposed to be carrying around. maybe articulated? i would be thinking about a ramp as well so that the things on the back can get off and on really easyly.
with the battle fortress i have actually been thinking about what you are making there for a very long time but i was thinking about doing it with 2 landraiders and ditching the rhino all together. but anyway i think the battle fortress should have another balcony on the secound floor for the ork boyz to shoot from. with the diorama in the cockpit section i was thinking about the guy you currently have in thee in the chair liturally surrounded by boyz and grots all pulling leavels and pushing buttons on the walls. i think two drivers in the front 2 sides both driving the thing ranting and waving arms. also the cocpit would be a really cool place and a very good place to make some real situations like grots tripping over wires and ork boyz argueing over controls. i also think a mekboy in the cockpit is a must i mean this thing is like a 500-900 point machine i seriously dought it is'nt going to have a mek on it to do repairs.
Anyway to end i think you have a good handle on these two projects and you obviously know how to do what you are doing. btw now i have seen you do the landraider thing i really really want to make one
cant wait to see these two finished, sorry about how long this post is just trying to help
Thanks bigfish drop me a PM with your info so i can send you some of that wire that I use.
And now what all of you have *not* been hoping for, A NON progress update (but still totally project relevant)
After running out of what i consider amazing ideas (Not counting bigfish's, as I am seriously considering the boyz trailer) I remember that I have around 3GB of Warhammer reference pictures that I have collected over the course of a couple years. So I printed out 70+ Ork scratch build pics and made an Ork conversion inspiration book. There is some really good stuff in there so expect some equally good stuff this week.
Alright I have made some actual progress (do I hear an applause or are my ears playing tricks ) I decided to add a sort of suspended gun platform, It is still very much a work in progress and the platform itself is pretty much 2% completed. But I have done a bit of impressive progress on the power feed for the "ZAP BANGA KANNON" which has no rules yet (I haven't thought that far yet, nor have I thought of what it will look like)
I think it looks awsome.
Oh yeah and the platform (keep in mind its barely even started)
So, I went downstairs to my work area this morning with every intention of getting some work done on that platform. I said to myself "okay lets start on that gun". But one thing led to another and before I knew it, I had taken an unplanned detour back to the Zzap Kannon (Or Mega Zzappa if you prefer).
As you can see I got rid of the mounting brackets which were a good idea but didn't fit with my new (and more detailed) vision. The pewter cabling is supposed to be some sort of looted plasma conduit, or something of that nature. Obviously more work needs to be done but at least its taking shape.
I have just now decided that this will be mounted on a very cool elevate-able turret. Think of a cross between a turret and an earthshaker trajectory changing thingy (I'm having a tough time thinking of the correct word it's been a long day)
Ok I got a little bit of work done of the zzap kannon/supa zzappa
The red wires are just there as place holders they are not glued and obviously not cut to size. When its done there will be multiple types wires/cables cut to different lengths going into the zzap kannon/supa zzappa sort of like i did with the blue wire on the battle wagon zzap gun
I also added more pewter cables to the one side of it.
I apologize for how small these updates are. The pharmacy that I get my medicine from up and didnt fill my script when i called so I've been going through withdrawls from not having my anti depresents for an entire week, it has not been fun at all.
I took pictures of the boomgun turret that I talked about in my previous post.
I have a friend at the shop I work at making me an attachment for the punch I used to make the rivets on the Junka, The attachment will be to make smaller rivets. So when that's done (and since business seems to have picked up I don't know when he will be able to get to it) I will be adding rivets to everything.
And here is a pic of where the turret is magnetically mounted
Well to be honest bigfish it's not an ordinary battlefortress, It was going to be a krawla like the one on the vehicle building comp picture but I decided That It will be a MEGA BATTLE FORTRESS.
I'm going to write rules for it once it's completed, they will be similar to the Stompa workshop datasheet from IA:8 but with some new weapons and obviously for a super heavy tank and not a titan
meh i think if you can fit titan wepons on it, it should have titan weapons. would love to see a over loading mega plasma cannon on a ork super heavy. still tis looking cool so far
Automatically Appended Next Post: (i also like this mega battle fortress idea, makes me want to make a "Giga mega big huge battle fortress of meganess")
If you do that bigfish then I will be forced to match your "Giga mega big huge battle fortress of meganess" and raise you a Ultra Mega Gigantically enormous Battle fortress of Impossibly bigness This morning I decided to tear apart the worst looking model in my entire collection, a landraider I bought on ebay 6 years ago, it had hot glue all over it with blood red painted on it. I guess it was supposed to be gore or something but it was terrible, and the fact that the sponsons were broken didn't help.
As you can see I am redoing the platform a bit too It will hopefully look even cooler the further along it gets. In case anyone asks, Yes the power cables are going back on along with the grot with the wrench.
After thinking about The Gun platform revision I decided I didn't need the power cables there anymore. They will go into my ork vehicle bits box until I decide exactly what I'm going to use them for. Here is what It looks like now. As you can see I have added an arm. AN ARM?! Yes an arm for helping to bring shells down to the platform basicly a loading arm like at those huge harbors. I also fixed all those open spaces I think it looks almost properly orky.
I thought this news was deserving of a whole post rather than an edit. I am making rules for the mega fortress, both as a guide for me and a gift to all of you.
*They are now (hopefully)* Finished Though they proabably will have things added to them as I think of more stuff
I won't have any updates 'till tomorrow evening. The camera is being borrowed, and I don't want to do any work and risk forgetting to take pictures of it when I get the camera done.
The thing that always bugged me about tnaks with so much plasticard is that they still look pretty flat in the end. It'll be interesting to see how you will handle that.
This is the start of the railing for the hanging firing platform.
And Kommander Kog He is obviously very much a WIP, I am looking for an ork pointing arm, I think i have one somewhere. And you can't tell from the pic, but he has a bionic eye and is wearing a cap.
Expect more tomorrow, after a nights rest and a full day to be creative
It's dead usefull, and only cost me $6.00 or so (hobbylinc.com is amazing and should be bookmarked by all scratch builders who live in the US.
If anyone here plans on ordering from them becuase I mentioned it, PM me first so I can give you my name, they give an additional 5% off to the referrer.
So... Despite Battling a cold and an even more severe minecraft addiction, I have made some progress on the zzap kannon.
I thought It would be worth mentioning that side that looks like it has more glue on it gave me a hard time. In fact 4 times I thought It was glued and 4 times it either shifted or fell right off. It took a lot longer than it should have, to make.
Well, My cold is nearly gone and I was forced to delete my minecraft world (stupid chunk loading error replaced nearly all of my factory with swamp land). So I have done some work on the Mega Battlefortress.
And wait there's more!
The turret superstructure is not glued down yet, I stll have to fill all the gaps with squadron green putty, but I did take a quick pick to give you an idea of what It will look like when its done*. (*DISCLAIMER : product still in development and subject to change )
Today inspiration has hit me! (I believe an applause is in order .) I'm going to do my best to make this a mega update day.
Here is the start.
I meant to make the big shoota twin linked before I glued it, but I got overly excited and forgot, So I managed to cut the barrel off while it was still attached and replaced it with an assault cannon to make it count as twin linked.
And I FINALLY completed the KFF (or at least made a lot of progress on it).
thanks monkeytroll and bigfish.
@monkytroll, you would be surprised at how unhelpful he is, steeling minis/terrain/wires and carrying them up the stairs from the basement which houses the nerd cave. He also likes to jump or climb onto my lap right after i really get into building and puts his arms over my right arm (im right handed) in an effort to 'provide moral support', though this causes all progress to come to an abrupt halt as it's rather difficult to get any work done when a 15-17 lbs cat is on my lap.
Well that was a pretty mediocre mega update wasn't it.
BUT ALL IS NOT LOST, I've come up with a very good method of painting ork skin that actually pleases me and that is simple enough that I can get nearly consistant results (nearly because sometimes I get the shakes and it messes up my layering process as you can imagine).
So.... My camera was yet again taken without my permission so no photo updates yet.
however I did just make a list of most of the ork models I have to make it easier to write an army list, But I thought I would share it.
Here it is:
1 warboss with twin linked shoota, power claw and boss pole
1 warboss with big choppa, twin shoota and boss pole
1 Big mek with kff 1 unfinished grotsnik conversion
1 ghazkull
1 unfinished shokk attack gun mek

10 lootas (nearly finished, need painted and such)
possibly 6 burna boyz (if I have enough bodies)
1 mega nob(missing gun)
3 nobz with big choppas and twin shootas
1 nob with twin shoota and waagh banner
1 nob with twin shoota and choppa
2 nobz with shoota and power klaw

1 painboy with grot assistant
22 Ork Boyz on sprue
~ 50 boyz (probably more)
~ 4 big shootas

1 chimera chassis to work with
1 stompa to work with
1 unfinished ork mega battle fortress (conversion)
1 unfinished ork battle fortress (conversion)
1 unfinished krusha killtank (conversion)
Thanks Awesomesauce, and your right besides all the normal obstacles of scratch building and my 'assistant' I get builders block alot.
However, Rejoice, For I realized I had an obvious piece of work that will take me a while and make a huge difference on my mega battle fortress (formerly designated Krawla ).
As you can see I finally put the other land raider side onto the mega battle fortress, It still needs alot of work to even get it to the same state as the other one. I will also be ordering some magnets this week so brace yourselves for some impressive updates around the holidays.
*EDIT* I did a bit more work on the mega battle fortress, I don't know what It will count as but it looks cool and that's important.
*EDIT 2* YES the moldlines look terrible, Not my fault the ion cannon came in a box of bits I bought and was already glued with plastic cement, I will try to putty it up a bit and make it look better.
bigfish, I doubt that scraping will be a successful endeavor in this case. You see, When the ion cannon was assembled, the two sides were offset by maybe .5-.75 mm so its actually not so much a mold line as it is a drop-off.
Also I thought I would elaborate on the pieces I used, why I used them and how the gun functions fluff-wise.
The two pointy bits are from eldar tanks, at first I used them because they look like suitable sparky gubbins. But I just now decided that they are ork psychic discharge condensers. *AAAAAAAGH! Too many big words*
Thats fine I'm more than happy to elaborate. As all ork players know, Orks Generate psychic fields, a 'static psych' if you will, This field becomes stronger and stronger as more and more orks gather together. This is what empowers wierdboyz and is normally only useful to them. However A conclave of Ork mekboyz working under the direct supervision of Kogzzappa (My Big mek-boss incarnation) have developed a way to harness all the normally wasted from WAAAGH! Kogzzappa (Mekboyz are not welcome in the waaagh and are usually 'exekuted' .) The energy is pulled from the surrounding atmosphere with psy-active material (Though their are other possibly less efficient and more noisy /flashy ways of doing this that are currently in production). Once The Collectors batteries are full, the condensed and now tangible energy is 'injected' (That's where the IG dozer blade hydraulics come in) into the looted Ion cannons inner gubbinz that fuses the psychic energy with real-space 'elektric powah' creating an incredibly volatile energy reaction that is then propelled from the cannon in the form of a otherworldly colored beam
Not a sparkle gun . More like snapshot of the roiling tides of the warp were condensed into a beam of light with an emphasis on shades of green.
Also I made some progress.
Good old Squadron Green Putty .
And I made some progress on the mega battle fortress:
I'm not sure if I want to have it to have a kill kannon like the other side or if I should build and mount the Gatling zzappa I have been thinking about. Or should I go crazy on the magnets and do both and possibly other things.?
Your input will be appreciated.
Shame on you monkeytroll, shame There will be NO glittery sparkle, twilight nonsense in my army!
Now back on topic, I will wait until my magnets come in the mail, then mess around with some crazy configurations. They should be here on the 23rd but I might have to wait until after Christmas.
Also I added something to the Junka.
Hey, if your mind connects sparkle gun to dodgy teen vampires that's not my fault To the grots anything that shoots pwetty colours is gonna be a sparkle gun
And you've added something to the junka. Hmm, is it a glyph plate?
Nah, launcher looks good, what did you use for the basic turret shape? Part of a gun mount from the terrain sets (CoD, Bastion)?
Guess what. I received my magnets in the mail yesterday! So I will soon be doing some work on the weapons platform. ATM I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to make that gatling zzappa, But I didn't post on here just to say that, nope. I made some progress on the zzap kannon turret.
just to answer this question before it arises, no the belt does not actually move the turret, and no it never will.
Okay just to show that I have not been a complete slouch (Though I have been quite lazy) I will show you what i've been doing.
AND NOW WITH COLORS!
Painting in progress
I know that the chevrons suck, but (1) as any painter is aware yellow is hard to work with (2) I suck at free hand even something as rudimentary as this. (2)It at least gets the point across that that bulbous cylinder is dangerous.
And don't worry about the yellow, it gets better every time you try, plus do you really think orks would take the time to paint them perfectly straight?
Ooh colour! This must be what it feels like to read my blog
If you want straight edges on chevrons and the like, try applying thin strips of masking tape over the yellow, paint the black, then remove the tape - waiting for the paint to dry a bit first, but not letting it dry completely and sealing the tape down. Or for freehand try marking them first in pencil/micro-pen, a lot of peeps find it easier to get a straight line that way.
I think I'm good with the messiness, I mean orks probly often drive into battle with fresh coats of paint on stuff without even letting it dry first.
I'm probly going to get some more building done tomorrow so hope for some pics of the super battle fortress, (and maybe the first of a tinboy squad)
Also thought I would let you all know I wrote (well maybe wrote is to generous more like practically plagiarized) an ork codex for my warband da Bullet Brainz. It steals/borrows heavily from a compiled ork document wich I believe was from THE WAAAGH forum I can say however that I added some new options and 1 entirely new unit. neither of which were in the compilation at all.
If anyone wants to look at it let me know.
(there is no background in it yet, I wouldnt feel right about writing it unless i had finished the background for my Mechmarines codex)
monkeytroll wrote:Ooh colour! This must be what it feels like to read my blog

I spray prime everything I get while it's on the sprue with a cheap flat black spray can.
Next I basecoated it with knarloc green.
Then switching my brush to an army painter wargamer: Character I Put a layer of gretchin green on top of the knarloc green. Making sure not to cover all of the knarloc green.
Switching brushes again to an army painter wargamer: Detail I put a layer of camo green on top of the gretchin green. Again making sure not to cover all of the previous layer.
The a coat of thrakka green and it's done
I probably will put a coat of vallejo matte varnish on to protect it from scuffs. but this will not affect the color at all.
I might upload some better pics later. The lighting was not so good where these picture were taken so the colors don't show up correctly in some places.
Well Awesomesauce I'm glad it looks like a KFF, since that's what it is.
I got a bit of painting done today, no pics sorry, It was not enough to showcase.
I did some touch-ups and tried to paint some flames on the side of the rokkit launcher turret. Let me tell you, the flames did not turn out well. That was probably the first time I got a headache from looking at something I painted . So no more flames .
I'll start putting the finishing details on my Battlewagon this week and takes some pics.
I figure 3 more weeks at the pace i'm going now or 1 - 1/12 weeks at a good pace until the junka and battlewagon are completely done.
So last night I was thinking up what I wanted to do on my stompa that I will be entering in next years ork vehicle competition.
This Is what I came up with so far.
Effigy Of Da Bullet Brains (kustom stompa)
Base Cost 350
Head Weapon:
Gaze of mork 050
Right Arm:
Deth kannon with co-axial supa-gatler 150
(For deth kannon I will make another ZZap kannon)
Left arm:
Skull hamma Kannon 100
Go for something like this:
Except bigger
Image uploaded by: Ramos Asura
Right Shoulder:
Deff Gun 025
Left Sholder:
Deff Gun 025
Hull mounted weapon:
Either a Big zzapa or flame belcha 030 (for either one)
My bad the deff arsenal is a typo its 120 points I was using the number pad on the keyboard and as you know the 0 is right below the 1.
I might take a belly gun as the hull mounted weapon but I could not figure out a suitably ridiculous over techy substitute.
@Anvildude, Not Officially no. I know I could do it any way and forget the rules, but I just don't think I want to use a lifta droppa. However you got my inner gubbinz grinding and I think that I will make some sort of mega shunta.
Also I got the scratch building bug again so I decided to work on my Battle Fortress. I decided that I wanted to make a super heavy mekboy junka so behold the Big Mek Battle Fortress!
A pdf of the rules is included in this post please feel free to download.
Now ONTO MY PROGRESS!
^^The very early start of my KFF array. As you can see I took a similar approach, but I did not cut anything off of my main plasticard sheets to make it, instead I cut to size some of my accumulated scrap pieces.
^^As you can see I used two of the old imperial guard drive wheels.
^^here is a quick mock-up of what the KFF array will look like. Just imagine it with a lot more wires/tubes and a second KFF cylinder on the this side.
Just found and looked through the thread, I really like where you go and your use of parts (that belt is a great use of parts). Excuse me for not reading the entire thread and if this has been brought up, I think you're using too many colors on the paint job. The model work is incredible otherwise. Keep it up.
Thanks for your kind words and constructive criticism.
I think you and I are the only ones who have thought that I was using too many colors on my models. However I told myself that most of the parts that the orks used to build those vehicles came from different locations/ vehicles.
So keeping to that Idea I like to vary my paint job a bit. But the main scheme stays the same:
1. Mechrite Red
2. Macharius Solar Orange
3. Mordian Blue
4. Shadow Grey
Any other color is just to show that the orks have not gotten around to repainting the material.
Yeah, I see your thoughts behind it. I would normally subscribe to the multicolor due to the logic of looting all your parts. I tell myself that the speed freak driving this thing would insist on fresh paint!
Sorry your speed freaks are out of luck (my vehicles are driven by mekboyz!) And I have some progress. The KFF array is coming along smoothly It will also have more projektah gubbinz added because this is where the powah field will emanate from. Also the Twin linked rokkit launcher has a full range of motion!
Well, everyone seems to like the rokkits. Maybe you'll like them even more now!
And some more work on the Pretectah field (combination KFF and Power field)
YAY WIRES!
You can also see in the background of the Protectah field some work I did to the Big Mek Battle Fortress.
It's the start of a turret platform on which one of the big gunz will be mounted.
I'm also working on bringing a ridiculous idea into the world.
A turret mounted Deff Arsenal.
WHAT!? a turret mounted, 120" range strength 9 AP 3 conglomeration of destruction?
Yes and with D3 supa rokkits fired every turn, why not?
Don't worry It will be suitably bristling with gunz and rokkits
It will however clean out a lot of my extra weapons.
(I better keep some for when I work on my stompa)
I have made even more progress. First I started on that Deff arsenal
As you can plainly see only have maybe half of the rokkits on there that I should ( ) But that will have to do.
I also started work on one of the guns for the deff arsenal:
Almost suitably orky.
And I decided to move my Kff to a different spot and only have the powah field projecter be on the top:
I think it looks to have enough power feeds now.
I also did a little work on the powah field but forgot to take pics.
Here is that Picture I forgot to take of the Power Field (hurray for inconsistent spelling ) Progress
I also got side tracked yesterday and started work on making a big trakk.
I cannot seem to find the top to the hellhound turret anywhere so it looks like I will have to build one.
also this big trakk will be all flame templates. 1 Supa-scorcha and 4 regular scorchas.
And as I was taking images off of my SD card I ran across a flash git i made a couple weeks ago.
I think I might have the top of that Hellhound turret, actually. Found something that looks like it might fit in the gap in one of the bitz bags you gave me a while ago.
And I have to ask if you were influenced at all by my own Flash Gits, with the backpack power pack and cabling.
@Anvildude I don't think I gave you the part I'm looking for. And I don't think your flash gits came to mind when I made that one.
And some progress on the big trakk.
I was originally going to re-mount the heavy flamer there, but Instead I was again inspired to do something unusual. This a scope was born!
Here is one of the scorcha sponsons. I will be adding some detail to that white plasticard strip in the form of rivets (honestly who doesn't like rivets?).
Here you can see that I used those resin treads I had originally bought for use on the mega battle fortress. Also in this picture is a completed view scope.
Under that ugly looking cover is a gap in the tracks, unfortunately not large enough to put another link in but still big enough to be a total buzz kill.
Well I will be trying not to taking any more detours and will now be committing myself to painting. So expect some orks with color and a finished junka and battlewagon.
Pics to follow later today.

as you can plainly see, I have started on a Big mek with a KFF. Not done of course. And I still have to find his head and arm
Alright so I've gone back to work now (as in a paying job) so hobby time has been severely decreased. However I will be playing a 14k apoc battle tomorrow (7k vs. 7k, 1 on 1) and will be taking pics, so if anyone is interested I will post them.
Okay so the game went well. I'm currently uploading pics then its off to church for palm sunday afterwards expect a mediocre play by play with some blurry photos (my camera takes superb close ups but you would not guess how much fail is produced in regular pics (or maybe i fail idk))
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok so i realized that It will be a good idea to make a downloadable document with the battle report in it because it will make clarifying locations of models easier. I will attach a PDF file to this post once it is done.
This file will have some pictures from the battle and some computer generated pictures from vassal 40k. And I will also add mapped images.
I'm sorry but I think that everyone will be able to get more out of the report this way and, I will be able to add more information to it.
I feel I owe everyone an apology. I had every intention of making that battle report but it just never got finished.
I have however nearly finished painting my mekboy junka (just have to finish the scorchas) and then I will provide pics. I've also been working on improving that ork mini-dex I believe I mentioned previously. I am even converting up some vehicles for it. (i'll provide some pics of that shortly as well) if anyone is interested in play-testing/perusing it let me know.

I cant wait to see some pics, and dont apologize. It is le life
@Capitansolstice, I have never actually worked with weathering powders before, though i did seriously consider them for the junka.
I have finally relocated the scorcha sponsons for the junka while cleaning my desk so they will be painted shortly in the meantime here is a peak at the progress of that tank i showed you earlier.
in case your wondering the trakk (the first of 2) has roughly the same dimension as a chimera track as I traced one to make it.
I know its a bit wide, but i don't think its too big since it is about as long as a land raider and maybe an inch wider (maybe a bit more) but not super heavy sized.
Thanks monkeytroll and actually it depends on how you want to look at it, as the tank will be a dedicated transport for lootas (I have always been peeved that my lootas (and more importantly burnas) could not take a dedicated trasnport) that open area will be the transport but as it's open topped they can all fire (if that's wrong forgive me its 5:15AM and life tends to be a little foggy when I'm groggy)(<----put that in your sig that's good)
Even if you want to give me permission to use some pics of your models in the 'dex that would be help enough in your case (since you model more than game)
Okay so not much if any progress on that very WIP ork tank. But I did not come empty handed (or post or something, idk I'm a Mek and as such, am a scatterbrain )
I think this is pretty original, sponsons on a turret. I cannot say i've seen it done before.
RIVETS! RIVETS! RIVETS!
Yay. The top of the turret was found (in the bathroom , no wonders i could not find it in any of my bitz boxes (the assistant is now on probation ))
I have also begun planning my next build (I jump around alot don't I), but at least this one can be used in regular games. A Battlewagon with a Supa Kannon (IA:8)
Oh and I thought I would share my current 2k point tourny armylist (we play 2k point tournys at the FLGS not 1850(because that's a weird number))
Thoughts, suggestions and math correction (if applicable though it probably won't be)

Okay fellow dakka users need some input. as i finish painting my battlwagon and put the finishing touches on my big trak, I have been thinking of how i want my battlewagon with a supa cannon to look.
Here are my thoughts so far:
Chassis: (1) Widened and lengthened chimera chassis a. Maybe have an extended front like the gun wagon i. Tracks ii. Wheels b. Normal GW style IG tank front (2) Land raider (mainly just the sides) a. Maybe have an extended front like the gun wagon i. Tracks ii. Wheels (3) Something Along The lines of GW’s Battlwagon?
Supa cannon: (1) Energy weapon? a. Turret mounted? i. Side mounted Power generator ii. Tesla coils/Jacobs ladder/crazy zapy gubbinz? iii. Possibly use hydraulics from guard dozer blade for something? b. Elevated Gun (Like A siege cannon) c. Hull mounted? (2) Solid Shot a. Turret mounted? i. Drum fed? ii. Hopper & belt feed like on the stompa? iii. Gravity Fed Ammo slot? b. Elevated Gun (Like A siege cannon)? c. Hull mounted?
I personally am leaning towards making a valdor like battlefwagon. But at the moment I want suggestions so please tell me what you think.
its really hard to visuallise form just the list, maybe a rough drawing first. That aside, youve been busy! i look away for 5 seconds come back and bam, new set of orkyness. Liking the turret very simple and really orky. also liking the looted wagon with skorcha, very nice. Back to the battlewagon with super kannon,
Im thinking turret mounted but so you can rotate it freely within the model. i am thinking solid shot but with different shells, so really meky wired up ammo?
"iii. Gravity Fed Ammo slot?" i like this alot
and i also like what you were saying about "a. Maybe have an extended front like the gun wagon" that would be cool to see on a battle wagon. Anyway hope any of that helps
Thanks for the reply bigfish, since I had 2 days to think about it I sort of got stuck on the idea of a Valdor like tank.
On a side note I'm selling my chaos army so I just had a bunch of vehicles free up (My Mekboy underlings confiscated them) so I might do a second one. I'll try to do a sketch (Try being the key word I tend to have the artistic abilities of a slowed child when it comes to drawing) or maybe a blue-tac mock up or both.
I don't know if anyone know what i meant by a gravity fed ammo slot. so here is an example:
Here are the measurements:
3 angle strips (3/16" tall)
2: 1/2" tubes
2: 3/8" tubes
2: 7/16" tubes
2: 11/32 tubes
6: 5/16" tubes
8: 3/16" tubes
10: 1/8" tubes
15: 3/32" tubes
all of them are approx. 15" long. should last a bit.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I also forgot to mention the reinforcements that arrived yesterday:
1 90% complete chimera chassis (missing something that i can easily make with plasticard i can't remember what it was )
1 new russ top half of hull, demolisher cannon and punisher cannon.
2 death striker missiles and 2 chimera crew compartment addons
some hull mounted Heavy bolters, Heavy Flamers and a multi melta.
And some other goodies.
I also will be recieving 2 boxes of boyz next week too and possibly some more goodies.,
I'm just playing around with how I want the kannon to be mounted at the moment. I can't decide if I want it to be at a fixed angle or just plane straight> Also the tracks are from a Tamaya sherman kit.
Automatically Appended Next Post: alright quick update:
I totally re-did the kannon, this time I felt the barrel iself was severely lacking in the details department so I made recoil absorbers not very orky I know, but i thought it was cool. There will of course be one on each side, I just thought another progress update was in order.
So it is really hot outside, 85 degrees Fahrenheit and a humidity of 49% And my air conditioner is not working. so not much work will be done until tonight. But I did not bumb the thread just to tell you it's bleeding hot outside (and inside).
I realized i didn't post my latest bit of progress on my big trakk.
I also may have mentioned this before but, The-waaagh! forums has a really cool ork rules compilation: codex of da orkpocalypse I will be using it alot for inspiration for my builds.
I bought another stompa kit for roughly $88 with shipping, with the intention of waiting until the next ork vehicles competition. But I'm a true mek and could not curb my enthusiasm so after a few hours work this is what i have.
At the moment its 12 inches long about 11 wide and 9 tall. I aim to have it be around 18 inches tall. And as always i'm working on a datasheet for it.
