I need a new series to watch so I thought we could all suggest our 3 favourites or "must see" shows.
. The Walking Dead - I just finished it and it gripped me from start to end, amazing
. Criminal Minds - Easily the best cop/FBI drama IMO . The Mentalist - Extremely clever and interesting cop drama

I haven't seen the Mentalist, but I am quite fond of the Walking Dead and Criminal Minds.
Assuming that these must be shows currently on TV:
Breaking Bad - Chemistry teacher with lung cancer starts to cook meth, originally because he believes he is dying and wants to leave some money for his family. Becomes most notorious meth cook in the southwest.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Funniest show in years. A group of self-centered morons own a crappy bar and come up with harebrained schemes to get ahead, or simply get revenge, which always, always blow up in their face
Archer - a spoof on Cold War era spy thrillers, centered on the intelligence agency ISIS, which features a possible former Nazi mad scientist, a nymphomaniac head of HR, an alcoholic egotistical director, who is also the mother of the main character, Sterling Archer, who, while an extremely proficient spy, is actually only in it for the lifestyle; money, women, and power, though this also usually gets him into serious trouble.
EDIT: High-fives for Bromsy. Excellent taste, sir.

Burn Notice
(I would also add Life but that's finished)
Life was so amazing, it was such a shame that it got cancelled. It's up there with other greats like The Chicago Code and Lie To Me that got canned for no good reason! You might want to look at Homeland, it has the same bloke in it and it starts soon.
Archer: Whoa, you actually thought I wanted to have sex with y - [starts laughing uncontrollably] Ramon Limon: And what is so funny about that? Archer: [still cracking up] No, no, it's Woodhouse! He's all tied up somewhere, sc - Scared and alone! [laughs] And possibly dehydrated!
EDIT: Yes, yes, enough Archer quotes. Back on topic.
Young Justice--I don't need to explain why. It's fantastic, and it's well worth watching. If you enjoyed the Batman: Animated Series or Batman Beyond, you will enjoy this.
Burn Notice--Stellar cast. Stellar shooting. Women in bikinis. Bruce Campbell. It's fantastic.
Psych and Castle(tie)--Fantastic cast with a good synergy on both. Hijinks that amuse me greatly and some fun references abound.
Second Psych and Young Justice. If you miss Teen Titans, Young Justice isn't the same style but its a similar show (its more mature if the lack there of was why you didn't like teen titans).
Is there anywhere you can watch Invader Zim anymore? Other than on DVD? Was a fun show but I don't think it even made it past season one (two?).

1) The Mentalist (Awesome! Can't wait to see how Mr. Jane gets out of his latest predicament, though really, it should be rather easy!)
2) Burn Notice (A fun ride + Bruce Campbell!)
3) Bones (Especially THIS year's upcoming season!)
I've honestly never liked Burn Notice. The writing is clever, and the actors are good, but a crisis of the week format mixed with the overarching storyline like they have irks me. Too much going on at once for my taste. I will say though, they've done a great job stringing the story out.
My dad loves the show though. Watches every episode or records.

I'm not sure he should have a predicament Alph... After all he did tell a dangerous and armed serial killer to stop which he didn't before shooting... @MrH and LordofAhts I do kinda understand about Burn Notice the overaching sotry is kinda drawn along whilst the episodic story seems to be merely a distraction.

I can see why people like it. It's just not my style to mix two unconnected story lines together (some episodes do connect them a little). I actually like the the episodic story lines a lot. Crisis of the Week gets mocked for poor writing by critics a lot, but I've honestly always liked being able to just tune into a show and not have to worry about not being caught up with what's going on in the story. I like arching storyline two, just not mixed together in one episode.
MrH wrote:Burn Notice annoyed me because nothing ever happened, I watched the first season and it was just a snorefest.
You're a heretical malcontent and shall be smitten by The Chin!
But seriously. The first season was "a snorefest"? Did we watch the same first season?

This is partially why I enjoy Burn Notice...a lot.
They do as much as they can to make sure that you know what's going on.
I will say that the second season felt a bit "busy", but since then...it's become far more interesting.
And the TV movie "The Fall of Sam Axe" was absurdly good. And it makes a Bruce Campbell geek reference.

I liked Bones until they started sticking stealthy and not so stealthy commercials into the plot. I pay extra for a DVR so I can fast forward through TV commercials, dammnit!
1): Haven. Smartest show on TV.
2): The Venture Brothers. Go ahead, laugh at stuff you're really not supposed to laugh at, it's on me.
3): Ancient Aliens. Mock if you like, the evidence is literally EVERYWHERE!!!
There are a few episodes of Burn Notice that amount to car commercials for that Hyaundai (spelling?) sports car. Me and my dad actually laughed. Its funny
If you like electronic music and amazing dancing, The LXD is worth a look. It's on Hulu, and episodes are by-and-large less than 20 minutes. That's about all I've been watching lately. Well, besides MLP:FIM that is...
If we're allowed to include shows that are no longer on the air, then I would replace Breaking Bad with Arrested Development. Another unbelievably funny show.
I watch an episode of something a day, because I put it on my laptop when I do my hours rowing. As a result, I've even watched things I didn't actually enjoy, and Lost was absolute horse gak. I made it to the end of the first season and I'm stunned at how bad it was.
GOT was merely decent, same goes for Dexter, BSG and 24. Although, the first two seasons of 24 were decent, the rest were progressively worse.
Lost, Heroes and Entourage were god fething awful.
Top three shows i can always watch not havin cable i depend on the internet for some of my flicks i am going ole school cause new shows piss me off most of us could write them haha..so lets have a go
1. Twilight Zone ( any of em any season period)
2. Trailer Park Boys ( i am a bit of a dope head)
3. Alias Smith and Jones ( ole cowboy show about two pretty good bad men who turn for good)
... Even though they've been mentioned I'll second both " True Blood" and " Supernatural" ( at least the first 5 seasons)... Both shows are silly as all hell, but a lot of fun.
I'll also give a big thumbs up to "The Walking Dead", though how season 2 turns out is of course yet to be seen...
Other shows worth a look..
Dexter
Deadliest Catch
Arrested Development
Death Valley
The Andy Griffith Show
...And anything with Gordan Ramsey in it.
EDIT:...
Oh yeah..." Brit" TV...I enjoy Fawlty Towers, "Allo Allo, and The Young Ones.

Just quoting Flashman when I say " Brit TV"...
...And yes, I thought " Are you being served?" was pretty funny.

Comedy:

90% of Monty Python isn't funny or memorable.
Burn Notice used to be enjoyable, but I really feel like they're just phoning it in this latest season.
You, my friend, are in-human.

Lost and BSG are both shows you have to get into, they start off slow, and the beginnings do suck. The ending for Lost was crap, but most of the middle was pretty good. They did make some mistakes with Lost(polar bears anyone?), but it actually is a good show if you ignore them and just watch. Fething hate the ending though...
Supernatural, Merlin (BBC show, its actually pretty good....), The Middle.
I mainly watch comedy shows on TV, and then absolute rubbish like Man vs Food or Escape to the Country that no one should really be watching....
To be honest, i would be happy just watching Supernatural, Buffy and Angel over and over again
I am a rare non-american who has seen all the episodes.
In terms of addictive drama Sopranos is worth a watch as is the Wire especially season 2 and 4.
In terms of factual/magazine shows 'supersizers do --- ' is the best show ever. The concept is that the two presenters, the charming Giles Coren and Sue Perkins, adopt the diet of a certain age in history for a full week (i.e. 'the supersizers do the tudors'). With ALWAYS hilarious results. While very entertaining it is also very informative and packed with intesting facts.
True blood was initially interesting but about midway through season 2 it just got a bit.... crap...
The UK's bbc four and, occassionaly, bbc three do commission alot of intersting shows but most get cancelled. Though strangely the show 'ideal' perseveres on bbc three, i have never met ANYONE that watches it.
WARORK93 wrote:Man Vs food...I get really hungry every time I watch that show...
Gah don't mention that... as much as I like the show... the things I have been roped into cooking because of it!
My current recommendations...
1. Eureka 2. Warehouse 13 3. NCIS
There are a few others atm that I watch on occasion, Mythbusters, Nothing to Declare (its a repetative cheap RL thing about Aussie customs/immigration but somehow I can't help being amused at the continued looks and excuses of 'I didn't know that was there officer!' ). I'm also thinking about trying to watch Lost Girl (if I can cope with that annoying werewolf) and Terra Nova (when it starts).
I, too, love a lot of these food shows; Iron Chef, Restaurant Impossible, Dinner Impossible, Man vs. Food, Chopped, Throwdown with Bobby Flay... good times. I'm also a fan of a lot of Food Network's traditional cooking shows like 30 Minute Meals, Boy Meets Grill, and Guy's Big Bite. I really miss East Meets West with Ming Tsai and I was really rooting for him on Next Iron Chef or whatever it was.
I am a rare non-american who has seen all the episodes.
I commend you, good sir, on your incredible taste in TV shows.
Seinfeld was a fantastic series. I just love looking back on it and realizing that it has introduced a lot of terms to modern conversation. Unless I'm mistaken (and I could very well be), the double dip comes from there. And I have heard so, so many others in normal conversation, even today, that originated from Seinfeld.
Yea, not to mention how many times have you been talking to someone and they say something like "You know that episode of Seinfeld *insert random part* It was kindda like that"
It's been said multiple times before...
1. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Only one season of it D:
2. Firefly
Scientific community? In MY west coast?!
3. Eureka
... ...Really?....I have to admit I'm a bit surprised that show would be on your playlist Frazz..
Jersey Shore is borderline so bad it's good.
... I usually think of B-Horror flicks when I think "So bad it's good"...not a house full of screaming idiots, but...I suppose I can see your point as my Missus watches it ( Jersey Shore), laughs and says it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
...At that point I just leave the room and go watch Blacula or something.

To be perfectly honest FITZZ, those two things can often be one and the same.
..I guess so man, but I know enough real life doofuses who can't hold their alcohol..I don't need to watch another bunch of them on TV...
..Oh wait...I think I may have missed a connection you were making between B-Horror and a house full of screaming idiots...
Yeah, I was alluding more to the B-movies and whatnot.
As far as idiots who can't hold their liquor. . . . I guess the appeal lies in the fact that if they're on TV you don't have worry about them throwing up on you. Other than that though. . .
Im hoping Sons is good this time around. Because last season was complete donkey-cave, and the season before it was borderline. And I started off liking the show, so who knows
Sons of Anarchy
And these two aren't running no more Stargate Universe (Just as it was getting really interesting, FFFUUU sy-fy)
Game of Thrones (Really well adapted)
Lately, I've gotten tired of many of my favorite shows. I don't know if they've gotten stale, or if I'm getting jaded...
Current top 3:
1) Futurama. The original run was amazing. The movies were a little... bland. But, the new episodes are really good again.
2) Game of Thrones. Okay, the TV show isn't groundbreaking. But, I'm a big fan of the books, and the TV show is doing a great adaptation of the books.
3) Breaking Bad. I really liked the first few seasons of Weeds, but then it got really dumb. Breaking Bad has managed to take the same basic concept, but without all the idiocy in Weeds. Also, the cinematography is really incredible.
Yessir, it is. Ian McShane is flipping amazing in that show. I started watching it when I had a day off work...and watched 7 episodes in a row. I SERIOUSLY recommend it.

I watched HH with my nephew once, and I remember Maid Marian and Her Merry Men from when I was a kid, but they are both terribly childish. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone over the age of about 12 personally.
