Fourth Ed Tyranids against Fourth Ed Tau. Used infiltrating Genestealers to box them in, Zoanthropes to obliterate some of the bigger Mechs and a Broodlord to destroy some other stuff. Complete tactical victory; they barely lasted 3 rounds. So I guess that was the most epic thing I did.
And I didn't use a cheesy Tyranidzilla list either; there were no monstrous creatures in my list. Only two BroodLords, lots o' Genestealers, Termagaunts, Warriors, Winged Warriors and Zoanthropes.
Killed a Hive Tyrant with a guardsmen squad in Melee, without losing a single guy...should have seen the look of dispair on my friends face. It was great.
had a scout squad kiled abbadon in shooting phase with shotguns. I don't know how that happened.
One time I had my eldar guardians out and I saw an entire squad of 15 berserkers seeing that I had no other choice I sent the 20 guardians with a warlock into close combat. 5 turns later and only 5 berserkers and 10 guardians and their warlock remained. Rofl.
Sleepysloth wrote:My Imperial Guard versus Orks. The Orks had Ghazgkull Thraka, so I of course I made sure Commissar Yarrik was in my list.
We unspokenly decided to run them straight for each other in an epic battle straight out of the fluff.
Epic Epic Epic.
Once had one of my opponents claimed one of his Characters was Calis the betrayer because he liked the name, and I had Calnor. Ahh Two brothers, the light side and the dark side beating the crap out of each other.
Though in all honesty my most favorite moment of my wargaming career and most epic was when my Devastator Sargeant stayed in combat with 3 necron lords and Night Bringer. They missed every freaking time and he slowly killed them one by one.
my entire army was deployed after the Sargeant killed Night Bringer truely an epic moment to see 3 companies deploy to take care of an entire 90,000 pt disorder force. Also seeing a chaos warlord titan lose to Yarrick in close combat was hilarious.
20 chapters were deployed alongside one guard regiment (roughly 250 guardsmen.) all the guardsmen did sucide runs and took out the then rigged chaos codex marines. (Because our store said its okay to use the old codex for balance reasons.)
though alot of people's stuff right now I can't really compare to so many marines, so many stories.
Straken, Medic, 3xablative wound command squad rampaging through 1000-1500 points of Tau. Eventually got down to just Straken, who killed 2 Crisis Commanders, a handful of fire warriors and pathfinders while taking no wounds in return.
EDIT:
Tankshocked Abaddon with a Chimera after he finally reached my lines (Demolisher cannons tend to do a number on Land Raiders). My opponent decided to DoG w/Abaddon, then rolled a 3 for armor pen. Ka-Thump. Ka-Thump.
My CSM vs some Ultrasmurfs...
DP got hammered by whirlwind all game and even had an orbital bombardment land on him(calgar) but didn't suffer a single wound. Then went on to turn calgar into a spawn(gift of chaos) and then destoying the whirlwind in assault in the final turn...
The only wound my DP suffered was when i rolled snake eyes turning calgar into a spawn lol
Actually, it was Tank Shock a group of Grey Hunters with a Chimera. They didn't flee, but the Chimera exploded the next turn due to a squad of long fangs; took out 7 Grey Hunters (bad rolls).
Annailated Skulltaker's maniple wiith a vortex missile (including skulltaker himself).
Took out 3 mega armoured orks and ghazzy with deathwing, after he both flamed them and assaulted them.
Took out a maxed stormboyz mob with snikrot in 1 turn.
FINALLY, my deathstrike missile launcher (in an ambush scenario) survived 2 turns of enemy shooting, launched its missile and destroyed a baneblade, 2 leman russes and a land raider. That one has destroyed skulltakers mantiple, and also took out the pheonix court.
Charged my dreadnought into fughan, Fughan had 2 penning hits, 1 shaken and 1 stunned. My dreadnought hit him over the head and killed him. The guy literally walked out of the store.

In the game or game type because I don't think that is possible.
Ironclad Dreadnought deep-striked behind an defiler. Defiler charges, but is wreckrd by the dreadnought before it even has an chance to strike back. The dreadnought then proceeds on firing its meltagun, at an chaos dreadnought 12" inches away, wrecking it. my scout squad also had destroyed the defilers battle cannon, by an lucky sniper shot.
Other moment was when I played eldar, and had my Fire Dragon squad shot by huge number of Tau firewarriors and hammerheads. Only Exarch lives, moves 6" inches and shoots down an hammerhead 15" inches away (he had an firepike)!ยจ

In video game, Avatar engaged Fire Warrior alone with 5 health, and FW killed him before this could even swing his sword
I see, I must say strange things happen in Dawn of War.
I once play as Guardsman against Chaos, Tau and Orks with Marines and Sisters at my team. 4 hours - I didn't lose 1 Guardsman and I had almost 1000 kills
Back in 4th edition I had a venerable dreadnought fighting Abaddon. He ripped both arms off and immobilized my dreadnought, but it still kept fighting. The melee lasted for 6 rounds, and ended with my cripplenaught standing victoriously above the heretic. In my gaming group at the time Abaddon had a reputation for being unkillable, and to actually do so with my Dark Angels' single dreadnought felt awesome.

What weapons did the have?tyrants are toughness six and guards are strength 3 or 4....
Avatar of khaine reached my ordinance and artillery encampment with 1 wound left and charged the lone 10 man guard squad protecting my ccs . Killed the entire squad except the sergeant who rose up out of the chaos and somehow rolled a 6 to hit.(damn you weapon skill 10) and another 6 to wound. Avatar rolls poorly and down he goes. This sergeant model has been promoted to platoon commander for this feat lmao
Played a 1,000 point game with my Dark Eldar against GK a couple weeks back.
My opponent brought a list that was a Grand Master attached to a nearly 500 point Paladin deathstar, and two minimalist terminator squads.
I get the first turn, and position myself to get as many dark lance shots across the board as possible. He positions accordingly, going as far forward as possible while remaining out of LoS of my Raiders and Ravagers. No matter. My turn comes, and I shift most of my stuff to engage one of his termi squads.
But I shoot one Raider full of Wracks up the center of the board, trying to get a first turn charge on his Paladins with the plan of at least tying them up for one round while I dark lanced the hell out of everything else. Well, as luck would have it, between a Dark Lance, two Liquifier Guns, and some lucky dice rolling for the AP value of my Liquifiers, I kill two Paladins. He fails his leadership check, but doesn't fall back far enough to regroup at the start of his next turn.
A turbo-boosting unit of Reaver Jetbikers escorted him off the board on his second turn.
The rage and horror at losing almost half of his army in two turns nearly caused my opponent to quit. He was a good sport though, and saw the game to its bitter end.

I was playing against my Eldar friend, who almost always beats me. On turn two his Wraithlord charged my Chaos Dreadnought. Both arms are robbed from him. On my turn I am immobolized and stunned. His next turn, I attack, cause two wounds, he stuns me. Next phase I do the killing blow while I'm left okay! He raged

Actual TT game. My friend missed on every hit, than my turn came and I got so many lucky rolls and wounds. Than my friend rolled 1's on all his saves. He was so damn pissed. To be fair though it was his second game...but still, hive tyrant vs guard squad, doesn't take much skill
In my last game, my two remaining scouts with sniper rifles got charged by a daemon prince.
It was 2 scouts (The Sgt was dead from earlier shooting) the daemon prince had 2 remaining wounds.
The scouts hit and wounded the daemon prince twice, he rolled Snake Eyes (Double ones) for his armor saves. my scouts got to consolidate, it was insane.
Killed a daemon prince on last turn of game allowing me to claim objective in a tournament . I had 8 bolt pistol shots left after rolling snake eyes on the 2 melta gun shots . I rolled 4 sixes on the wounds and he rolled 3 ones and a two on the save .....Kapow!!!! Goes to show anything can happen
Apocalypse Game:
50 stronger powerblob killed 2 Defilers and Brass Scorpion in CC, with Melta Bombs.
Before the Scorpion blew up and kill all but 3 of them!
Had an old 3rd ed Chaos Daemon prince take two entire armies (tau and smurfs) worth of shooting leaving him with one wound left. Ah the glories Berzerker glaive and old FnP were.
Kurgash wrote:Had an old 3rd ed Chaos Daemon prince take two entire armies (tau and smurfs) worth of shooting leaving him with one wound left. Ah the glories Berzerker glaive and old FnP were.
Ha, I had a Slaanesh Prince wiping out a GK and a BT army in one double tourney game. It had one wound left too! (One from a Justicar, one from the Emperor's Champion)
I added a lot of trophies to his base afterward!
All have to do with Pariahs and the Deceiver. Making Logan Grimnar and his Squad flee off the board, Pinning Abbadon for 3 consecutive turns and making Mephiston Flee off the board. Good times, Good times
I once had my runtherd herd my grots into combat with a herald of tzeench; y'know, t5, 5 wounds and a 4++. They killed him in two turns of combat. The grots, not the herder, he missed!
You should have seen the look on my opponents face when he rolled 4 saves and got 4 ones and twos , after i had rolled this many sixes
Most epic thing i have ever done was have a final lone sister throw up her 3++ (old codex) and survive a full around of shooting of plasma from a 3 man crisis suit squad, she then followed to rapid fire her bolter and killed two, the final one failed Ld and ran off the board, absolute classic Epic moment against me though with my Eldar mate...even though my Archon had one wound left, he still had str 6 from his huskblade/soultrap...thought he could easily clear out a 3 rangers, so I assault, out of 6 attacks, I cause 0 wounds, and get followed to get smacked in the face by the rangers, I changed the head of my Archon after that...
Most epic for me was dropping papa smurf when he was on 2 wounds with a rhino storm bolter
Another epic moment was in a 2v2 game watching my LR Vanquisher getting immobilised on turn one and atill for 6 turns holding off two predators and 2 land raiders.
=I= White-Wolf wrote:Most epic thing i have ever done was have a final lone sister throw up her 3++ (old codex) and survive a full around of shooting of plasma from a 3 man crisis suit squad, she then followed to rapid fire her bolter and killed two, the final one failed Ld and ran off the board, absolute classic
A monolith deep struck in killing a large portion of my DE force. A lone Hellion Champion assaulted the monolith rolled a six to hit, rolled a five to get a penatrating hit with his hay wire grenade, rolled a six monolith destroyed. Hellion survived the blast, DE go on to win the game.
His Land Raider was immobilized the first turn by the Railgun. All 9 members of his squad dies walking to the Tau lines. Somehow, he managed to survive, and throw his Hammer at Aun'va. One bodyguard down. He charged. He took a wound, but had slain Aun'Va with his mighty Foehammer and Dueling skills. Every single model failed their Leadership test, and in 2 more turns, none would regroup and they would all fall of the board edge. He took his sweet time to walk over to the objective, grabbing one for Russ and the Allfather. Logan would be proud.
Space Wolves had one Objective. Tau had zero, none contesting.
My most epic win was when my Leman Russ Punisher with side sponson plasma cannons (and a lascannon at the front) took out my freind's Hive Tyrant + 3 Tyrant Guard in one sweep. I was like and he was like
Hmmm, Most epic thing?
It's either that time with the two Filipino girls, or the time I was a helicopter door gunner....
Gaming wise, it's back in 2nd ed when a Gretchin killed a Space Marine Captain (wearing Terminator armour) in close combat.
Had my Chimera with a blown off turret ram a defiler, and blow it to hell, it was one of those desperation moves. the look on my buddies face was priceless.
Squad of four jet bike guardians, charged by a keeper of secrets. He takes out three of them before they can swing, only to have the last one kill him. Super guardian take down the keeper of secrets alone, doesn't break, and holds the objective.
3rd edition Canoness survived 16 Lascannon shots courtesy of a 2+ invul save. Proceeded to tear through a Leman Russ squadron and kill a Lord Comissar before succumbing to massed Lasgun fire.
Edit: Also managed to make a perfect deep strike with a JP Canoness /w Inferno Pistol. Landed 2" from a Basilisk and made explode on turn 2.
For all of those awesome things happening I've lost more Seraphim squads than I care to count DSing like a nub.
After watching my Space Wolves being blasted straight down to Morkai's gate by a Imperial Guard barrage. Turn two rolls around. My wolf scouts hop on. And take out on of the Leman Russes raining down death on my Wolves. While my Scouts took the brunt of the attack, with only two casualties. Them and what was left of my Grey Hunter packs turned this entire fiasco around. Eventually -tableing- the enemy.
I was feeling [Mod Edit - Please find a different way to express yourself. Thanks!], so I took as many sniper drone teams as I was aloud (9 teams in total) and completely decimated all the Grey Knight on the entire table, tableing them by turn 3.
I stumbled on the Cthulhu Genestealers with my Bladestorm crisis Suits and my 100 point Shas'el, My Suits won due to a slew of sixes on my side and a slew of twos on my friend's side.
After that had happened, I only said one thing: "I play hide and Seek for keeps."
My first game of 40k ever. I had a 5 Man Assault Marine Squad charge into a mob of 20 orks. My Assault Marines proceed to lower them below 11 Orks before they strike back. I don't recall if I lost any Assault Marines, but the orks lost combat failed their moral and fell back. I sweeping advanced them completely destroying the rest of the mob. Pretty epic when its only your first game.
Another time I had a squad of Assault Marines charge into a full squad of Wyches. I don't remember if I had lost any Assault Marines at that point or if he had lost any wyches but when he rolled his 4+ saves in CC he failed them. All of them. I have never seen so many 1's, 2's, and 3's.
Mines pretty far up there in the epic category. I preceded to have a Bloodthirster singlehandedly take on a 1500pts eldar army and almost win. The rest of my army made a huge kp deffecit but heres the kicker, the mighty bloodthirster never died and ended up making something like 40+ saves, half of them being his inv.. (The rest of the army litterally mishapped into annihalation).
A few years ago, a couple friends and I didn't really go to a FLGS so we just did doubles games. My guardsmen were forming a gunline for my buddies space wolves. I had a huge blob of 40 guardsmen inside of a big ruin. Our opponent deepstrikes a Daemon Prince in behind me but can't assault. I turn around the next turn and order FRFSRS with all 40 guardsmens.
Spoiler:
It died.
Not the most epic thing but most certainly my most memorable moment.

My favourite is a khorne lord with daemon weapon getting charged by 12ish kroot, daemon weapon says double 6 and lordie says bye bye kroot.
Otherwise there isn't much since i tend to play by the numbers so epicness tends not to happen, had 400 points of princes wipe out about 1500 points of dreads + others in drop pod army between them even now I don't know how I did that.
1) After winning a round a combat, the lone survivor of my Vanguard Squad ran down 30 or so fleeing tyranids.
2) When my 10 man scout squad was attacked by Abaddon at the top of turn 2. With my buddy rolling the worst rolls I've ever seen, the scouts tied up abbadon until turn 5.
I remembered the story of a Kroot killing 2terminators.
In a space hulk type match, 5 Terminators w/ an Assault Cannon fire on and kill 8/10 of the kindred. The two survivors charged the Terminators and lost the other Kroot in one turn of combat. The next assault phase, the lone survivor kills 2 terminators before going down.
In 5th edition... my last game, batrep here, where 285 points of marine scouts and scout bikes took out 1060 points worth of guard including 3 Russes, a sentinel and several units). The scout bikes were just amazing. It's epic because it will probably never happen again... but it was glorious to see, if only once.
Save almost ten marine armour saves in one roll. There was one guy left in the squad. I actually removed him from the table I had that much despair. Another one was when Vulkan He'stan actually survived 2 rounds of combat in base contact with Asdrubael Vect. Vect ended up getting stabbed in the face Quite an acheivement for me, though it might not sound that good to you
One time there was a three way battle between Grey Knights Tyranids and Blood Angels. I saw a Mawloc and a Dreadknight fighting, I marched Sanguinor right in there and killed them both
Back when 4th ed had just come out, my friend's Defiler was obliterating my troops, Assault marine sergeant took it out with one plasma pistol shot to the back, taking a couple of possessed with it.
Sir Samuel Buca wrote:Back when 4th ed had just come out, my friend's Defiler was obliterating my troops, Assault marine sergeant took it out with one plasma pistol shot to the back, taking a couple of possessed with it.
I had a similar experience in 3rd I think it was, where a totally ass raped dread, had only a bolter left functioning, and shot the rear of another dread, and it ended up blowing sky high. What made it so funny, was it was the dread, that tore mine to pieces. so it had that, beaten and bloodied look, where 1 eye was swollen shut, and with its last bit of strength squeezed off a shot
Tabled 2500pts of tyranids and lost only 5 random marines and an assault cannon of a speeder.
I also went to a Rogue Trader event and took best over all after smashing my opponents.
It was more luck than anything. My final round was against my friend who I introduced the game.
Bottom of turn 6 I smashed his Lord with destroyer body to the ground for the 4th turn in a row (kept getting back up with 3 wounds).
But as he couldn't roll WBB at that point It won me the game.
If we had a 7th turn I might have won anyway as his Lord was the last "Necron" I needed to kill for phasing.
My very first game a few weeks back and my Tau were taking a hammering from some Marines. I'd infiltrated my 3-man stealth team and they'd stayed out the way mostly. When the store-guy figured out they had some potential to cause a problem for him he sent an assault squad to deal with them. They held their own and despite eventually being reduced to one battlesuit, prevailed over store-guys marine squad with the one-stealthsuit left standing taking out three marines alone.
Unfortunately my poor tactics and constantly forgetting to make use of the advantages and rules of my own wargear didn't win me the battle, but it was impressive to see a stealthsuit beating up his opponents against all the odds.
as a joke, it was in my friend's basement on a 8ft by 8ft table that we had 3 days to play the game. We did a old 2nd edition Epic space marine game.
50,000 pts space marine/imperial guard
25,000 pts eldar
50,000 pts squats
daniel79 wrote:as a joke, it was in my friend's basement on a 8ft by 8ft table that we had 3 days to play the game. We did a old 2nd edition Epic space marine game.
50,000 pts space marine/imperial guard
25,000 pts eldar
50,000 pts squats
vrs
50,000 pts Chaos
75,000 pts Orks
That was an real EPIC battle.
250,000 pts, nbd
I Could field 1250 mantas for that number of point Oo
The day when my pre-Matt Ward Ultramarines battled the forces of chaos. My friend was playing as the Chaos Space Marines, and the terrain was filled with rivers of lava and barren black rock. The street lights created a dim red light, which fitted the atmosphere perfectly. So, we dimmed the lights and started the game.
As fitting, the game had many epic battles which lasted for many turns. One of the most awesome battles occured when my Chaplain engaged a Chaos Lord. He battled with him for the entire game, and on the penultimate turn stood victorious above the fallen Chaos Lord, standing on a hilltop.
My friend and I declared it to be the most epic game we have ever played.
A lone fire dragon exarch (his squad killed) single handedly took out a Venerable dreadnought and Space Marine Combat squad (with power fist) in close combat before destroying a razorback, then a landspeeder in 4 turns. The explosion of the landspeeder killing him!
Took out a hellhound with a vyper's shuriken cannon.
Actually:
My farseer lobs his spear at a GK landraider. This blows up, killing two grey knight termies that were in combat with my banshee exarch. My exarch then finished the GK termy.
Back in fourth edition I took a pot shot with my basalisk at a chaos land raid with four Chaos Terminators and a terminator lord inside of it. Direct hit, six for pen, six for result. Which killed the Land Raider and everyone within it. Tragedy!
The most epic moment was when I was playing against CSM player and he deep-strikes a DP next to my company command squad.
I charge the DP with a guard squad and commissar. In the subsequent combat, the guard squad is killed off without doing any damage and only the commissar remains. Commissar then happily kills the DP and takes no wounds in return.
In a 2v2 game that I had awhile back, my friends and I came up with a sort of BS house rule for the end of an assault phase... Basically, if, at the end of combat, all models were still locked in combat, we would roll scatter dice.
We had no idea what we were in for. I was using my Guard, along with my friend playing vanilla marines, and we were facing Orks and CSM. On the second turn, his JP chaplain and assault squad got into combat with the termie lord. They then proceeded to gather ALL the boyz, ALL the CSMs, and ALL of my platooned guardsmen into this giant swirling melee. By turn 4 there was absolutely no shooting, unless we engaged vehicles (though we did hope to scatter some ordnance onto the melee, just to clear things up abit).. At the end of turn 6, the 200+ models that "started" the melee, there were maybe 20 left standing, including the chaplain and Chaos lord (who is named Lord Inept by us, for his famed inability to do anything)
I had a single ork boy charge into combat with 3 warwalkers(he was the only survivor of the 24 guided scatterwalker shots that killed the rest of his squad), tying them up for three turns until anouther squad came to his rescue and killed the walkers.
I had a single Space Marine with a bolter get charged by twenty kroot. He made EVERY save until the VERY last attack, which he failed and ultimately died. By this point we were rolling them one by one. I named him Davin Krootbane and marked his base for later conversion.
You all know the sort of douchecanoe who hangs out at the game store and tells you about his 2nd ed D&D character? Repleatedly? When you didn't ask the first time? Well, he decides he wants to play some Warmachine with us. He talks (when he's not talking about his D&D character) how good he is at 40K, but he's never played Warmachine. He decides to get a box, and asks if I will play a game with him.
Generally, I toss or try to tie the first game against a new player. But this guy? Nope. I go after him full bore. I set up my Cryx, and we go at it. I do well. I hammer out most of his infantry with my overpowered Bane Knights because that's what I do. He manages to line up his warcaster on my Goreshade the Bastard (my Warcaster), and charges. Rolls a hit, and then rolls for damage. 3d6 and gets sixes on all, meaning he's just done full, maximum damage to my Warcaster. Without him, my army falls apart. I count it up. Goreshade has a single point of health left. And it's my turn.
Goreshade is excellent in melee. I murdered his warcaster in the next turn. His army falls apart.
Years ago, back in 3rd ed, I used Aun'shi (ethereal) 1v1 against an Eldar Avatar. With the old blade master rule managed to kill the avatar after i think 2 rounds of combat without conceding any wounds.
Same thing happened next game, only this time with a Daemon Prince.
