Well, I'm fairly new to Dakka, but Viktor told me to open one of these up haha
Almost ALL of my stuff is done by me, and painted by me.
I apologize for the AWFUL quality of picture in advance. I shall remedy this soon. If you go to my gallery and look without opening them up, they look great as thumbnails haha

Some terrain:

So lemme know how you like it, if you can even make them out through the bluriness haha

I would definitely say you need some better pics, but from what I can see those bikers look pretty sweet.

Thanks guys!

I threw all the terrain together in a few hours, and I love the way it came out. Once I get it all painted up, it'll probably be the outside "City" around the destroyed Titan table my friend and I are building.

But that'll be awhile before I get pictures of it hahaha

that "Ent"- Dread on the left i definatly would like to see in a close up^^

also your terrai, while still unpainted looks very cool... where the heck are you guys getting all that neat stuff...wow

oh and yep... pushed you into the fray to open up a P&M blog^^ there can never be too many of us... we help each other and we learn from each other^^

Nice terrain.

Post by: Tlo1048

@Viktor - Thanks!
The Dread is the one built from sentinel legs and a sentinal lascannon. The "Rhino" is not a kit at all, its built from balsa wood, and I just added the bits to make it playable haha.

The daemons are all custom built. The one on the left was built by a buddy of mine, and he traded it to me. Its made from Nid pieces and some chaos spikes. The middle one is a confrontation mini painted red with an added wing and spikes. The one on the right is built from all kinds of stuff. The base is built up to make a throne, she has possessed wings, a CSM torso, shoulders and arms, Confrontation Wolfen Legs, a wood elf bow and Confrontation sword, with a wood elf head.

Terrain is built from the same stuff as egg cartons, its recycled paprt pulp or somthing haha

@Neil101 - Thanks mate!

Oh, and the Rhino is built to run as whatever I'm feeling at the moment haha.

Update:
I've been building terrain again today. I've got a full watch tower built that can fit maybeeee 10 marines, a silo/tower, two scouting tours, a soon to be glowing power conduit, anddddd a mini-turret.

Oh, and I based my dreadnaught/defiler today too.

Will get pictures up soon!

I hope its worth it! hahaha

And it was, It was even worse to cut out the drivers cabin haha. I do have some GW treads, and I would love to use them, but for now its just balsa strips cut to look moderately like treads. I dont have quite enough to do the whole thing. Bits are a pain and price in the states.

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/14 10:38:53

Post by: Viktor von Domm

maybe you go and have a look at some of my tricks i came up with to make me some treads...i atm have two tanks sitting on the shelf... buth with totally differently scratchbuilt treads sections...heavy duty cradboard is the trick for me...
it bends and it gules so easy... it really is sometimes a blessing... balsa wood... now that too is a nice material but it doesn´t cut all that well...also i had planned to use toothpicks and even some string done in macramee to get a nice looking tread section done...

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/15 04:36:04

Post by: Tlo1048

Yeah, for me the balsa has broken too easily. I may switch over to a cardboard later.

I'm gonna try out paper mache tomorrow, and see what I can come up with. I'm going to turn a 4 drink cupholder from a fast food place into either craters, or a big droppod crater and some debris on the outside. It could be awesome hahaha

EDIT: OH! And I have an idea. Once the nid stuff comes in I'm considering turning my white dreadnought into a Dread/Stealer. Mix it up with some nid parts and stuff. It could also be amazing haha. But I'm not sure yet, because I'm trying to decided whether or not I want to build up my SM force too.

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/15 09:51:43

Post by: Viktor von Domm

hmmm the nid dread could go both ways... be an exellent idea or could waste a mini... i am not sure...
papermache is in my view a very good way to get organic structures very easy... and you can built them up on almost anything... if you want to swith over to cardboard i still suggest making a support structure for anything you build from wood... maybe multiplex or MDF...those are "light" and sturdy at the same time...

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/15 16:08:57

Post by: Tlo1048

Very true, and if all else fails I can make it a Tyranid hunting Dread and just keep it for my SM.

True true, I was thinking of building some craters and stuff today. Maybe a building and cover it in paper mache to give it that realistic look.

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/15 16:31:53

Post by: Viktor von Domm

i once saw a tut on how to make crsaters with plaster and wood and sand... you just used bitz of odd shaped wood on a paper plate and then build up the surface... well now as i think about it this could even be much easier done in papermache too...^^

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/15 19:45:36

Post by: Tlo1048

Yeah I may go with that now, cause Paper mache has proven to be my enemy hahaha

I cut the rim off of the cupholder, and flipped it upside down, then pulled the flaps out and cut some more in it, and then added hotglue. It looks like a pretty cool Tyranid/Daemon brood pit. Wayyyyy better than I anticipated haha

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/15 19:59:18

Post by: Viktor von Domm

oh... by the way... do you happen to know about window colors? i used this for cheap and small jobs otherwise would be done by watereffects... so if you fill your brood pit and want it really messy looking in a good way you could try that out...also i too think hot glue can really fill up some space and keep structure steady... but why did the papermache fail? you do know it takes multiple "coats" of paper and glue to make it sturdy enough?

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/15 20:36:09

definatly... there is a nid painter out there... a website to help you with the choosing... but honestly i think it is crapy... and also i think the best way is look into a codex, choose a fetching scheme there and built around that your own... to see the color dynamics...for me nods lok best if done really disgusting^^

I should be getting my Tyranids within the next week, and I THINK I've decided on a color scheme.
Regal Blue Carapace, accented with other blues, and a blue "Tiger Stripe" pattern, and Scorched Brown skin/ or Bleached bone. And they're going to originate from Cygnax during the Badab War, and were unleashed because of the planet's death.

I'll get pictures up sometime soon, I promise haha

Okay, I want to put up all the projects I can think of that I need to finish:

#1: Finish the Chaos I have. Which is alottttt. And write out all the Fluff
#2: Flesh out my Space Marines, and write up their fluff.
#3: Start work on my Nids with paint, fluff and modelling.
#4: Make and paint terrain/ finish table.
#5: Finish my Dwarf Army.

The biggest thing is my Chaos. I've gotta paint up 10-15 termies, 2 possessed squads, 5 bikers, Defiler, paint bloodletters(WHFB Gors), paint Blue Horrors(Goblins), build some more Tanks (to a proper scale), and probably more haha

My Marines shouldn't be too bad. I dont have too many at the moment, so it'll be a slow and steady project. Unless Christmas yealds lots of projects haha

Nids, should be simple enough. Its gonna take me awhile to get used to painting xenos haha

Terrain, easy to build but I'm probably too lazy to paint haha

Dwarves, eh. I've put this off for so long its no big deal. I dont even play fantasy hahaha. But oh well haha I've probably got somewhere between 2k and 4k. I have NO idea.

I am assuming your camera is digital. ( Mine is an older one as well). I found the best way to take the pics so they are'nt blurry is to set it down on a surface , looking at the model, instead of trying to maintain a steady hand, and have the model under a decent light source. Amatuer photography is NOt a hobby of mine, but it will help everyone get a better view of your stuff.
Hope that helps.
Your terrain/ bunker....What is that from?

@worldwarme - Thanks mate! All the terrain is made from the inserts in a Blu Ray box. I think its like recycled paper pulp or something. It looks really cool to me too hahaha

hmmm... the use of bitz is quite good... that cannon sure fits there very well...what i a, not sure apbout is the sponson with the flamer inside...too cubic for me... maybe if you redid that with some more folded paper? about five folds so to better get a round form? the tops then can get put on later...

Agreed, I'm going to paint it up and see if I like it like this or if I'm going to add the modular part.

And I don't have enough treads right now, so I'll probably just make them haha, or leave it. Its whatever haha

i made some by my own design... in my thread you can see quite a big discussion about that... lots of good ideas there but if you ask me where... i´d be damend^^ dunno where... 123 pages now^^ but in my gallery at least i showed the progress and conceptual phase of at least two sets...

Update:
I have a squad of "Possessed" that are built off of old metal Grey Knight models. They wear purity seals, and the traditional Grey Knight armor to mock the Imperium while their gnarled wings shoot out from their backs.
I only have one pair of wings from the possessed box, but I plan on building more for the others. Looks wicked

Also, I painted up the Rhino in Goblin Green and Catachan Green, then added Dark Angel Green Snakes to the hatches and on top of the treads. I painted some of the hatches in Boltgun Metal, and still need to detail it.

Thats it for now!

Post by: Viktor von Domm

the possessed unit from GK´s sounds wicked...something that sure as hell could dampend the spirits of all that would face these fighters...cool idea...fluffwise i think that would have great potential...will you make the wings by gs? i would suggest instead go a different route... use staples and sculpt the shape of the bones... then aply PVA soaked tissue and wrap that over the bonesstructure... that would make some asewome looking wings... GS wings tend to get too thick...

I dont quite understand you, mate.

@Viktor - Thanks mate! Yeah I'm not gonna do GS as I dont have any! haha. But I'll probably build light frames and add to it like you said. I also considered using paper for the wing between the bones, and then burning the edges to make it look rough. I'll try both and see if I can get a good set of wings on them all.

My own little blog, woo! (Picture Heavy) @ 2011/11/27 23:15:48

Post by: Viktor von Domm

i think he meant to write : he washed his nids in gryphon sepia...

the bruning sounds like a good methode to get the gnawed feel to the wings...

when working with the soaked tissue... be sure to work as careless as can be... thus you create wonderful random creases and folds...that will looks quite neat natural later on...and you get nice texture for later on drybrushing and washing...

hey mate!!! where did you pull all that painted stuff all of a sudden??? the winged minis looks super cool... did you really do all those by yourself?
the wings are just awesome! same goes for the three headed snakebeast...where is that coming from?

also i have to confess...i loled a bit for the powerpacked catachans^^ ...tho nicely done...they are a nasty bunch^^

that one here is my favorite...:

and that one

by the way...nice pics you did... quite sharp and with a nice twist of an angle...gives an air of artful photography... very vibrat colors...

now to the package... oh yeah... qite battered it is looking... long distance took it´s toll...
did the carnifex really get broken? is he repairable? i hope so, i always was under the impression that this was one of the sturdier models...dang...
also the warriors are not mine...i only ever did a gaunt...so the matching minis... the small critters, the warriors and the matching gaunts i got from an ebay auction... so no telling how they were done...

hope you have fun with that new lot!!!

Haha I've had em for ages, just never had a camera to use! haha

The winged ones are from the Possessed CSM sprue, but I'm going to scratchbuild some to go with the GK one.

Hahaha thats cause the IG are awesome! xD

The Snake beast used to be an old toy haha, I found it, and just had to do it. I needed an awesome snake for my Chaos! And I plan to add a cool tail to it, possibly more.

And thanks for the compliments! And I will love them! haha

EDIT: About the Carnifex...I THINK I can fix it. Its mostly just in need of pinning, because those legs do NOT wanna stay on hahaha

Well, on account of my experiences with the Warhammer community, mainly because of Viktor, I decided to take a flying leap.

I posted my Dwarf army on Bartertown because it didn't sell on ebay, or at least not good enough offers (I got one for 65$...HELL NO.)

A guy contacted me, and I boxed up the army + some metal Dark Elves I had and didn't want. He's going to give me:

Tau:
Codex
Hammerhead with rail cannon
Devilfish
Devilfish proxy (HALO ghost action figure bike painted and decalled Tau)
Crisis suit x5 (various options, I know nothing about Tau, so I'm not sure what is what, also including 2 busted up suits for parts)
less drones [Whatever this means haha]
stealth suit XV15 x3
pathifnder x8 (2 have railrifles)
21 kroot
11 firewarriors with carbines, 18 Firewarriors with rifles, 4 gun drones
3 gun drones

AND...
Necrons:
C'Tan nightbringer (end of scythe is missing)
C'Tan Deciever (NiB)
65 warriors (some are in rough shape, for trade purposes we'll count it as 40, also, no scarabs)
3 destroyers
heavy destroyer
Lord with res. orb
5 immortals
Last edition codex

ANDDDD! hahaha...
Aries, Warrior of the Zodiac by Mcfarlane
[possibly] Scibor Minotaur Lord
[Hopefully] Tons of bits.

Realizing, this could end HORRIBLY...but in the end, I'm going to take the chance that there are good men in this world, and that some people just need a chance. Although, 166 positive trades on Bartertown helps too haha

Plus its very beneficial on my side, and my army will go to a good home!

I am getting the resin Scibor Minotaur lord too! No bits, but thats because he got the tau and crons in a lot and they had no bits.

However! The Necron C'tan's are metal, and the immortals are metal! I LOVE metal immortals, its like a monstrous terminator haha
Can't begin to explain how excited, and hopeful I am! haha

With those loadouts, Its about 2k of Crons, and 1.5-2k of Tau! Plus I've never really had, or at least held onto any tanks/vehicles that weren't scratchbuilt. Stokedddd!

Well, its taken 5 days tomorrow, for my package to reach Minnesota. I reallllllly hope the USPS can get away from these problems, and get back to working clean and smooth. Just a sign of the times, I suppose.

But hey! All this stuff coming in makes the wait worth it! Tau and Crons woo!

I haven't really made anything in a bit, but sometime soon I'll start workin again haha

Here is a new holiday project I want to start.

I'm going to use these bodies:
http://bitzbarn.com/oscommerce/catalog/images/IG05070.JPG

They're the baneblade commander bodies, and it fits my needs perfectly.

Then I'm going to get these:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UDdM9TZ0Fpo/TVwnhAk2SuI/AAAAAAAAArc/mSQanMBR-UQ/s1600/m400883_99120203004_BretonnianMenAtArmsMain_873x627.jpg

More specifically, the helmets on the far left

And then either get some cadian arms, or add the arms I already have from my catachans and add shoulder pieces. I kinda want to use the catachan ones, because they're supposed to be elite grunts. Power weapons and laspistols haha

Thats all for THAT project hahaha

My next project is to play a few full games with my necrons and tau coming in and decide if I like them and I'm going to keep them, or I may either trade them, or send them into Blue Table Painting for their trade system and pick up some cool stuff.

I'm hoping I get some Black Templar accessories and stuff for Christmas so I can keep working on my crusading SM chapter. However, this is a SERIOUS problem. I really need the tabards, and Dark Angel robes. The DA robes are relatively easy, but BOTH are VERYYYY pricey. Ughhhh

OH! I found that Mega Bloks "DRAGONS" sets make GREAT gaming terrain. I've had them since I was young, and it never occured to me that it'd be awesome terrain. You can always lift the tops, and rearrange it easily. And some of the pieces I had look like actual terrain pieces, like the dragon carvings on some of the walls and such. Definately a nice, thrifty way to play!

Thats it! Nothing new, but once I do, I'll be sure to let you guys know, and see!!

much more cheaper and easier to come by... and you get them in the dozens... and the heads will be a nice addition you want to use... in fact i own these models too and thought this whole project for my next modeling affair too^^ wanted to do that for years too... tho i will be using the whole men at arms set with just some 40k weaponry^^

special forces for my army and all^^

Yeah, I had seen those and considered it. But I'll still need different heads and arms, or at least guns for them. From what I've seen, they're actually bigger than regular IG. Somewhere between IG and SM. But I see your point, much cheaper. Maybe I'll just buy one BB commander coat for a commander haha

Yeah, they do have a certain feel. My biggest problem with them is the same as most armies, in the aspect its a cookie cutter feel. They're difficult to give personality.

See, thats my problem for necrons. I'm not quite sure how to go about that. Its been easy for my Chaos, and Marines, and maybe for my Tau. But with Necrons I'm at a standstill. Especially since I dont like OSL like everyone is doing now haha

However, I was considering making them like vikings, with all the runes and beards and stuff. Seriously like a 40k Tomb kings army haha

i think necrons have a great portential for a comical aproach... there are steampunky crons out there... or you could take the spirit of the christmas season up out on the crons and make them look like cookycrons... like giant gingerbread men... heck that is something i wanted to do for a long time... i guess this whole egyptian theme is a bit downtrodden so it is fair to lighten this army up a bit... heck you could give them all firecrackers in their arms and little paper hats...their serious faces scream practically for some humor... like a pantomime...

Good ideas, mates! I'm going to look around for some stuff to use. But first! Pictures = Proof!

Thats a Necron Lord with Res Orb, both C'tan's, 1 heavy Destroyer, 3 Destroyers, and a tonnnnn of warriors.

Now for Tau!

The black and grey/blue Devilfish is the start of a new color scheme. I didn't paint anything else, so dont blame me for a shiny gloss painted army hahaha

And a Mcfarlane Aries!

And now it happened hahaha

the crons are a colorful bunch... will you strip them or paint above the already painted minis?
i would suggest getting a big bottle of simple green... ohterwise you would loos so much detail...

as for the new tau scheme.. yeah i can see this could be a good one...

Hahaha understatement! And thanks!

Yeah, I'm not sure yet. I think I'll leave the destroyers and the Lord, and maybe a few of the warriors, but most of them are in random schemes, so I'll probably soak them in Simple green. Will Simple green damage my plastics? and how do I use it specifically?

And for the Tau, I DEFINATELY need to soak them. Whoever sold it to the guy from BT in the first place was a total jerk and used either testors or something. UGH. They're trying to kill meeeeeeee hahaha

from what i heard...and it is only hearsay...simply soak the minis... depending on what kind of simple green you can get a hold of...you could dilute it with a bit of water...the plastic wont be affwected by the stuff... even after weeks... i use a german PVC cleaner and have some khorne marines soaking in my stuff for months now... and it looks good for now... guess one day i really should go and rinse them off...

the crons look to me as if someone did a false attempt to create differently colored platoons...hmmm...but i just zoomed in on them and they are all horribly done... better make a clean new start... and after all... painting crons is possible to do very quick and easy... a drybrushed army if you so want to...

Stripping paint from plastic models is the MOST aggravating thing I've ever done. And stripping Necrons, SUCKS. They're already thing and fragile, but when you apply pressure to get the paint off, more than half the time they snap in half.

However, a small goodness, is that some of the worst paintjobs on the Crons, after being brushed off, revealed a wonderful copper color. Which saves me a bit of time painting them in copper! Woo! hahaha

I think the Tau are what REALLLLYYY tested my patience. Some of them brushed off quick, others took a little loving, but the worst ones were the ones I'd scrape off the paint, and lo and behold, another coat of another color was on there. Sigh...

But hey, most of them are cleaned up enough where I can begin working on them now haha

The only thing I have new to report is that I finally broke down and went to a lgs, which isn't close, and bought some new paint. However they dont carry citadel paints, just washes, so I got the Privateer Press paints, Reaper, and some Master class paints. So far I love the PP ones! They're a little thin, BUT the metallic's a leagues above what I've gotten from Citadel's.

I got some bronze, so I started with a test model for my steampunk crons. I also designed a new scenic base for my Nightbringer, and plan on adding gears and clocks to the robes. He's going to be renamed the Harbinger, and I would LOVE to make him look like a gunslinger, but thats another project entirely hahaha

I've started painting up my Tau as well, and I settled on Regal Blue and various metalics, and the accent paint is Vermin Brown, cause its more orange than brown haha

I'll do pics sometime this week probably!

Nah, Skylanders isn't too draining. Just buy a new character every once in awhile, no biggie.

And yes, it is possible. It runs decently, but its not "OMG HD SKYRIM!", and my parents felt bad it was so complicated to make it run, so they got me the collectors edition xbox version too, on the promise I pay them back haha

And I did! You too mate!

I got my trade in today, which included alot of fantasy stuff that I'm going to convert to 40k.

Some Chaos warriors and Knights, and a lot of beastmen. I'll probably turn them both into my CSM army, but I may add the Beastmen into an IG theme.

sounds like a good plan...only thing is how will you add the beastmen to IG? RT guard or what?

Hahaha well the post office has an automatic door! hahaa xD

Well, I was thinking I could use penal legion rules for them, and give them lasguns, but I'll probably use them for my chaos. I can always use a bigger chaos army xD

and chaos knows no end... ^^...

and given the xenophobic issue the IoM has...i see no beastmen in their ranks for now...

To that there is much truth haha

The funny thing is that Beastmen, Dwarves and Ogres all were IG, and then they killed of Beastmen and Dwarves...the brought back Dwarves. I've got my fingers crossed at a new line of 40k beastmen hahaha

I haven't been on in about a week, but I have picked up even more stuff haha

Since I got those WoC and Beastmen, I got some clearance models at my LGS, which includes a "Manannan's Warrior Warband" for the game Celtos, and a "Carnage Miniatures" box set with a bunch of models in it, an almost complete box of Beastmen Minotaurs from Vintage Stock, and All the Skaven(Except for the Warlord) and almost all the High Elf Mage for 30$ at Vintage Stock. I just couldn't pass them up hahaha xD

But hell, 40 Clanrats, 2 rat Ogres and a Moulder, 1 Warlock engineer, a fire team, a warp thrower team, and a high elf mage for 30$? Thats a steal right there haha

I was hesitant, but in the end I just had to haha
My girlfriend suggested I paint them to the scheme of my two rats hahaha I have a feeling they'd be a little too cute to fit into warhammer xD

I honestly doubt I'll ever play them, or my beastmen, or my WoC hahaha but Its one of those things I just cant get past. WHFB is so appealing in so many ways, but gaming isnt one of them for me. I promised myself I wouldn't start another fantasy army after I finally got rid of my Dwarves...whoops xD haha

And lord knows my path has been littered with them haha

Well one of them is white and a light sand color, and the other is white and dark brown. I'm tempted to make the two Rat Ogres painted like them hahaha but I'm not sure is Boba and Elvira are good names for Rat Ogres
