Keeping in Theme with the World Eater Beserkers I decided to restart my Blood Pact Army and try to get it at least battle ready.
I have a Looted Mars Patern Leman Russ with just the right amount evil.
At the same time I am also painting the Vanquisher Command Turret.
I have have modeled The Blood Pact's answer to Pask, the brillant tank commander
Romellor.
Next are the Dreaded Blood Pact Grenadiers
I used the tiny Khorne symbol on all the helmets in place of the eagle
And I almost have one of every HW squad, just have two left bolter and mortar

Post by: Llamahead
Oh these are beautiful. The se of Krieg as Blood Pact is nigh perfect as these models really show brutal dedicated warriors rather than kill crazy slaughterers which too many supposed blood pact armies emphasise. I prefer the Khorne as a martial god including tactics look these imply.

Post by: Eisenhorn
These last two Heavy Weapons teams finishes them up.
I now have one of each type.
I also scuplted a grotesk over a Vostroyan Comm officer for use as either the Evil Master Of Ordinace.
I think tomarrow I bust out the airbrush for the tank and finish baseing the Grenadiers.

That comm officer is excellent he really looks the part. The veterans are keeping up the same high standard. These are some of the finest renegades I've ever seen!

Here is the Leman Russ all finished and weathered minus tracks.
I painted and weathered them separately a long time ago in fact.
This has gone through what I call "The Process" a little bit of everything
Weathering Powders,Oil Paint,Verdi-Gris.
The idea with the icons is the top piece is also the comms anntena as I have it cabled up.

Looking very nice. I'm really liking seeing the Blood Pact, I'm on my second run through on the Gaunt's Ghost series. Are you using Imperial Guard rules with counts as or have you come across a Lost list that you can use?
I'm just curious because I'm looking into starting a traitor guard army myself.
Thanks,

Finished off the small touches like smoke for the exhaust & barrel.
And some fine scratches using a silver pencil.
Please disregard the blank spot where the spare track has to go,forgot to glue it on ,before the pics

Skrall it is not incorrect to put an Undivided symbol on Khorne Forces.
If it were the only symbol on the tank I would tend to agree with ya,but it shares the space with some pretty large Khorne symbols themselves.
The Undivided symbol is correct for all Chaos forces.
Your take on me using DkoK,well just have to agree to disagree on that one,If I could the enitre force would be made using DKoK Grenadiers.
Checked out your Pact, they are pretty good I might even steal the model you used for a priest for my WireWolves
The Weathering is something I call "The Process" I'll maybe do a tute one day, long story short
Black Primer,
Alclad 2 Steel(boltgun metal),
Latex Masking fluid with sponge,
Paint and Highlight Tank,
Add symbols&Text,
remove mask,
spray with glosscote until satin sheen,
Burnt Umber Oil Paint Pinwash
Spray with Dullcote
Dust Tank Lightly with MIG Industrial City Dirt (ICD)
Use Mona Lisa Thinner Damp brush not dripping and coat model going in the direction of runof(On top ,front to back and down the sides top to bottom to simulate rainmarks)
Dust Tracks Liberally with MIG ICD fix with thinner by barely touching thinner damp brush to model.
Crush up some graphite and apply to the area of track that makes contact with the ground
Use pencil to add fine scratches.
?????
Profit

A method from the fine scale community.
For instance the WWII tanks where the armor has a slightly pitted or rough texture like on the sherman.
You take plastic glue and paint it on a plastic model where you want the texturemlet it get soft for about a minute then using an old cut down brush like used to stippling you well stipple it.
It gives the armor a hammer beaten look to it.

thanks man! however, i disagree on the symbology logic. if blood pact are the forces of urlock guar, and he in turn is a world eater (or one hell of khorne devotee murhen) then why would they worship other gods? khorne wouldn't be too happy that they are giving his tithe to other gods, especially since he is the guy who provides them with certain things. just from a fluff stance that is, from a modelling point of view. from a modelling point of view; what ever floats your boat
As for the sek.. pretty good, could use something to make it more khornate though... probably just a symbol or something.

Hoy there,
Gorgeous blood pact! Very nice indeed. You may well find these heads useful:
http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=47_48&zenid=v0fltce796n8supbb35mhvrp23
The two variations on Oni Masks. I'm using them for mad-ass non-traitor guard, but they seem custom made purely for blood pact. Getting them onto Cadian bodies requires a bit of filing and fitting, but they look great when they're done.
Also, I like the Son of Sek, although the impression I've got from the books - I may be totally wrong, just talking my gut - is that they're heavy troops, with Carapace armour. I will re-read and check it out, it's high time I did that anyway
Oh, and I am indeed also subscribed. Keep it up!

Post by: Eisenhorn
Thanks for the link.
I finished off a 10 man Sons of Sek squad,I have my method of modeling renegades down now.
I add armor plate like the FW renegades,knee/elbow pads maybe a groin protector,I like to switch it up not every guy will have kneepads for instance
The latest thing I am working on is the Chimera and what better time than to post up my Armor Painting Tutorial "The Method".
Optimum results are achieved with an airbrush but it is not necessary for most steps.
The only thing I would do differently next time is paint the track separate from the tank for an easier job,I'll just have to be careful on this one.
Taking a black primed tank paint the whole thing a steel color.
I use an airbrush and Alclad II steel but Boltgun Metal will work just as well a good solid coat
Then use Liquid Latex masking fluid and apply with a sponge,do not go crazy less is more.
It really helps to take pictures of this stage like I have done so you can see where all the mask is,some is hard too see once painted over.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
I then used Testors Model Master Olvie Drab enamel to spray the tank olive drab, then using Faded olive drab to dust over the tank after the olive drabwas touch dry.
This can also be made using 3 parts Catachan Grenn with 1 part Charadon Granite.
You want a good solid coat.
Then once touch dry remove the latex mask exposing the steel underneath.
It is important to remove the mask when the model is touch dry the longer you let dry the harder it is to remove the mask.
Keep in mind it takes most paints 24 hours to fully cure, GW included
For the light hearted you can stop right here, add unit markings, pick out a few small details and you are good to go with a better than standard paintjob that would impress anyone.

I only made the mask for the Vostroyan Comms Trooper, the ones on the HW teams that are on cadian bodys are max-mini fallen legionaire heads.
The Sons of Sek have skeleton warrior hands for thier masks
Here is the Segeant of the Sons of Sek squad
I have also figured out a really cool retro way to represent penal legion troops.
Chaos Beastmen with Catachan Arms.
A little putty work is nessessary for the shoulders since they dont line up quite right.
But when covered with fur Impossible to tell.
The guns do not work without chopping the stock off,so I went further and beat the hell up out of it.
With the Catachan camo on the barrel it looks like it is being held togther with tape.
I figure they would give beasts the worst gear.

White metal guitar wire that is extreamly bendable and poseable.
Check out the power cables
http://www.dragonforge.com/Painting%20service/for%20sale/sculpting_supplies.htm
I have also recently seen molds where you press them yourself out of g/s,
I like to think with Chaos its evil influences all around it even to the point where metal tarnishes and rusts in its presense.
Great idea BTW

Here is a Chimera transport nearly finished.
I was going to to a step by step further but things started moving fast, batteries died so it did'nt really materialize the way I wanted.
But this tank did,I did'nt go crazy like some of my other stuff with tons of gear, just an extra track on a bracket made by cutting the tab off a track link.
Speaking of which the new kits tracks fit like a dream but no extra kink anymore, that sucks.
I also used .020 plastic rod along the edges of the fron then softened with with Tenax Liquid Plasic Glue.
Once soft I stippled with a brass rod cut to an angle to simulate rough welds.
I also coated and stippled the turret to give it a roughcast texture
I used ForgeWorld Khorne and Renegade brass etch to finish it off
I have also almost finshed a few more Beastmen penal legionaires

i always pictured the masks on the Sons as horizontal. they arent really rebreathers either- they are described as elaborate chin-straps holding their helmets in place (whch makes sense, since if you try it your thumbs kind of reach far enough to be used as straps). they are made of real human flesh as well, a glossy brown human leather.

Ok. Enough about me. I absolutely love Traitor / Cult projects and I am really enjoying this one so far. I came across this scratchbuild of an automated sentry gun.Keeping with 40ks no robots rule the cpu is a servo-skull.

Since I had a second turret,I bought a second chassis off ebay.
It is all prepped up to be welded.
I am using the plastic rod/plastic glue technique, however regular plastic glue is too thick and it would make a mess.
I am using Tenax 7r to weld the rods,Tenax has the consistancy of water but is strong as hell.

Here she is after the welding treatment.
I coated the rod in Tenax then used a brass rod cut at a 45 degree angle to push the weld pattern into the plastic rod..
48594
Post by: dsteingass
That looks sooo much easier than putty or GS welding!
4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
yes and no
It takes a little practice to get the feel of it,how long to leave the glue on for,(about a min then I add a second coat and start welding).
But done correctly I like this way best,it feels like part of the model, the techneque in gereral is a good way to hide slight gaps if a mistake was made building it.
It mainly takes patience like all things 40k
48594
Post by: dsteingass

4271
Post by: Eisenhorn
Who says I'm not a rivet man
I have a whole bags of tricks for that have no fear.
Wait til I show you how to make nuts and bolt fasteners !!!!
In the mean time I gave the model the primer and baseoat.
I used Alclad II Duraluminum it is a little bright than the steel.
The last two tanks, metal damage blends in a bit too much IMO.
I am hoping once weathered the brighter Duraluminum will turn out the right shade.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I was also determined to finish this guy, before he gets lost in the armor shuffle.
Going to start on a new tank company, hopefully olive drab winter camo, trying new things and all that jazz.

Cites of death sprues, chunks of plaster,2 sizes of basing medium and course.
Treat the bases as models in thier own right, try to have a common theme.
For these bases there is jade rubble make from broken off plaster of paris.
Pour some plastic of paris in a shallow container, hit with a hammer viola instant heavy rubble.
Another trick to spruce up a base take .030 plastic rod and cut off into bolter shell sized bits, makes for spent shells.

I just buy a cites of death building usually the basticalla one, they're cheap enough like $25 and a box will last a while.
I use MIG powder, the Industrial city dirt is the one I use on the cityfight bases.
The kneepads are just a tiny blob of g/s shaped with the blade of my exacto.
The battered armor is by coating the armor in a light coat of plastic glue then poke it with the en of a paintbrush
If you get the enforcers they come with a small sprue with bits that fit on the hip that are very easy to make a one piece cast of.Great use for Instant Mold.
