And so I have recieved my Grenadiers and assembled them. It is now time to make a P&M blog for e'm.

I will prime the whole squad tomorrow once the filling glue is set and upload a picture of the squad primed, in the meanwhile enjoy the individual picture of the squad members and a close up of the part I screwed (newbie in the hobby, horrible stuff happened :()

And now, pretty pictures!

The squad

Watchmaster/Sergeant

Number 2 and his grenade launcher

Number 3 and his flamer (Flamer had some wrapping, easily fixed)

Number 4, this one was a breeze to assemble, the arms fit perfectly and the cable wasn't hard to put.

Number 5, nothing special about this guy.

Number 6, nothing out of the ordinary either

Number 7, struggled to make the arms right, first model I attempted to build, 9th model finished... favorite pose of the bunch

Number 8, second attempt, first success, quite proud of it, filling helped a lot

Number 9, derped this one, never noticed the place where the cable plugs in the gun was blocked by his leg, as such I did my best to fix it with my limited abilities.

Number 10, simply put, a nightmare, I think I restared his right arm about 7-8 times, and I am fairly sure its still not as the right spot... filled way too much resin and glue, now a lot of gel-glue was used as filler. Really sad about how he turned out :(

Overall took about 5-6 hours to finish properly and filled the cracks and empty space with gel glue, every soldier got a knife (even the watchmaster). but since all knifes are in a sheat, I couldn't give them bayonets like I originally wanted.

Watchmaster got a different pose than the on of ForgeWorld, and frankly I like my version more

Did some work on the squad, quite happy of what I've done so far, needs a lot of work still. Primed black. Armor plates/pauldrons/leg guards, helmets, gauntlets and tubes are painted in adeptus battlegrey (too bright for my taste, will wash with badadb black mixed with chaos black) 2 coats, metallics are done with boltgun metal washed with badad black (knifes handle weren't washed, 1 coat of each, the scopes, handguard and stock are a single coat of chaos black, so are the power packs. Chainsword ''blade'' is chaos with boltgun metal for paint scraps, the teeth of the chainsword are just boltgun metal.

Comment away gents, and if anyone got a tip for better pictures, I'll gladly take them.

DING!

New update, a bit late, I was busy being sick.

Whole squad got their gasmask, skullface, boots, knife sheats and other leather part painted.

A bit of a bad work on the right eye, will fix once everything is painted.

Much better work on this one IMO

Here be the boots and knife sheat.

Parents paid for it for Christmas, so expected a new squad next year

Thanks for the nice comment, I'd say they aren't too bad for my first models, certainly not as tricky as expect and great fun to work on, but starting with DKoK Grenadier was perhaps not the best choice (cables, I am looking at you)

Ding dong the update is done.

Painted the coat codex grey, drybrushed with fortress grey. Also did the air tank and tube, the tube was done with very watered down catachan brown, you can see a bit of the black primer, really gives a a great effect imo.

Lots of parts to rework now and I still don't know how I'll do the flamer/extra grenades/extra promethium tank/chainsword handle.

Mighty freaking bumpmancy of doom!!!

I haven't stopped working on my Grenadiers, however, this is the only squad I have and I don't really want to finish it too early, as I won't have anything else to wrok on afterwards :(

So for every soldier: Washed the dhened stone boots with devlan mud (that thing smells!), redid the skull masks: painted them white, then washed them with badab black then did a technique which name I forgot, but in a nutshell you paint 4-5 layers of extremely thinned down paint while brushing your brush on some paper to remove a good part of the paint. Redid the tube and the powerpacks, I am going to need flashly lights for the packs, ideas? I have also painted every armor piece with a mix of adeptus battlegrey and chaos black to darken it abit, as well as covering most mistakes. And finally, I've redone a few hotshots that had some paint splashes.

Now this guy... I reworked the flamer canister but it clearly need more work, now my problem is, I don't know what color to paint the flamer with. The ''muzzle'' part will remain like that (primed!, but its pretty), but I am running short of ideas for the body.

Stay tuned, I've ordered a bunch of bitz and I am going to have every man have a water bottle, pouches and grenades, plus a few extra for some.

You seem to have got those cables assembled without any breakages.. nice work! I must have snapped most of mine... the trick for next time that I'll use is water straight from the kettle, makes resin MUCH easier to work with.

Any more updates on progress? thought about basing theme yet?

Keep going soldier, that's an order!

Still waiting for my pieces, I have no idea what to do for the bases yet D:

Didnt broke a cable, but some of them are glued in... awkward places.

And worry not, as soon as I get the bits I'll get them on the soldiers.

Many thanks Spartan. Painted the coat codex grey, drybrushed with fortress grey. Leathery parts are Catachan brown. The armor was adeptus battlegrey on the first pictures, but I added a bit of chaos black in the mix to darken it.

Horrible news everyone: Grenadier #7 arms are unglued, the mini is being hled up by the flimsy power cable, I looked at the other squad members, but it seems they're fine for now.

There was a problem with shipping, first part of the order arrived perfectly fine, still waiting on the second batch, so far I got 2 vox casters and 1 power sword catachan arm, one of the vox and the arm are reserved for the Company Command who's going to be a covnerted Grenadier Watchmaster.

The 2nd batch has around 30 pieces of gear (GW IG stuff, pouches, grenades, canteens, shovel, binoculars).

On other news #7 arms have been fixed and I fixed a small issue on his power pack.

Haven't worked much, first coat of paint on most of the gear, but I messed the glue work a bit, some I'll have to fix that, but with Diablo 3 coming out and many friends buying it, modelling/painting kinda went out of the window

Edit: Forgot to say it but every models has a name, or rather a number, the watchmaster, for example is 5-6-94-1, 1st member/officer of the 94th Grenadiers squad of the 6th Company of the 5th Krieg Siege regiment, everyone will have their obligatory ''5'' on their right shoulder, with the probable exception of 5-6-94-1, since his rank marks are on said right shoulder.

Good news everyone!

Imperial Armoury (shameful plug, I know, but that's where I got my IG parts ) is going to have Death Korps of Krieg bits and models, and so I just might be able to get working on Captain #5601, and MAYBE, a Grenadier melta gunner (big maybe, but this time if I can get him, I'll buy all the extra bits BEFORE painting him)

I take my time because I have 11 models in total (:() so I want to spread my time around.

I have washed the Grenadiers with some Badab black wash, but there's some work to be done on them before I declare them ''done'' and post final picture.

And I need some golden metallics for the Captain.

I really like these, in particular the colours and little changes that make them feel more unique.

Personally I don't think slowness is a problem, unless like me you have another 90 plastic guardsmen staring at you waiting for paint... Why did I pick a camo theme?

Ding

This should be one if not the last update for the Grenadiers, I might get some work on 5601, but I am missing a color, golden metallic, which I doubt is avaible at the store where I got the Tamiya paint, and the GW store is a bit far to go to for only a pot of paint.

All models with a visible hotshot back pack were given a red light (Tamiya Flat Red) like this one, the demo charge is partially visible. Its probably not very noticeable, but I do all my 3 browns in different ways, the air supply is fairly thinned brown, which shows a bit of the black underneath, the leather pouches are normally thinned calthan brown and the shovel handles are calthan brown+either skull white or dhened stone.

I have minor work to do on the breathing tube, pmostly go over the grey spots with black paint then add the thinned calthan brown.

The demo charge, carefully put there to hide an air bubble (?, either way, some damage on the model is now hidden by the demo charge, and its custom made, with a mortar shell and a spare tank of gas from the elysian kit, wooohoooo, paint job sucks a bit, I'd like something to break the monotone)

The vox caster has seen better days, the Grenadier also lost his water bottle, somewhere, poor #4

Working space

Bases! White sand, stones made out of cork, primed, drybrushed with codex grey (or fortress grey) and then more drybrush of dhened stone.

Some bases have space for further items, probably dead stuff.

I like his pose

93th Grenadier Squad and their Captain

A greater demon of Khorne, ready to snatch my men and destroy them, but at least I keep a watchful eye.

Me Gusta
Your rather monochromatic approach has certainly proved effective! It evokes a somewhat dark image, as if they were present in WW1 archive footage. Also, the contrasting gas masks help bring out faces upon your ranks, showing that these are just normal men, fighting against relentless odds. Great job with the conversion work and painting so far! I hope to see more of this soon. The only constructive criticism I can provide right now would be:
"Put some ink washes over the models to help add depth and shading"
...As you are only starting off you were probably going to do it anyway...
Until then, good luck with any future projects, as I hope to be bombarded with updates.

Snakebite for the leather. Some Khemri Brown for the wooden bits should help differentiate them and give them a nice lift.

Boom, an update, bet y'all didn't expect that one eh?

5601 in all his not finished glory.

Rather happy with the blood stains, as they match those I see when I cut myself with my sword (Not that I am careless or anything )

He's behind you!

Freehanded the ''93'' squad markings, started with a 5 then I re-read the Siege of Vraks and corrected it.

''The Captain's the only one who can have blood on his sword!''

Also, gonna pass an order to FW soon, so far I am likely to get:
5x engineers
1x heavy flamer grenadier weapon team
2x (might be just one) melta gun grenadier and heavy stubber gunner.

Got my Forgeworld order today, and apparently nobody cared that I start working on them a few weeks before my birthday.

So here!

Grenadier Heavy Flamer team, was supposed to come with a 40mm base, got 4 or so 25 mm ones, so improvised

Grenadier Melta gunners, they also have a melta bomb, even tho they can't take that option anymore, and an extra pouch.

Since I got 2 melta gunners, this means I also have 2 heavy stubbers, but I only need one, and each stubber has only 1 man, while the rules says I need a 2 men team, so I made it happen, also, spare bases.

Engineers! Finally something different from Grenadiers, wooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo

Left over pieces, I already know what to do with them.

My humble bits box

The sculpts are stupidly good, not a single piece was warped and considering that I had 2 heavy stubbers and a heavy flamer, I would say its a miracle, I had to scrap some extra from a single model, I only had to fill in 1 arm, the right arms of the Grenadier that holds all those tubes (which I broke, anyone, if you ever though the tibes from hellguns were bad, you never did a heavy flamer).

Yeah, got a great bunch. Everything is primed as of now, painting will begin soon.

A chap called rajcze on here has a cool recipe for melta muzzle burn, which I think is quite effective, here's an exmaple and the recipe:

rajcze wrote:
:
* VMC Brass (I guess Tin bitz from GW is the equivalent, but I'm not sure)
* the half of the barrel closer to the gun body, and the recesses washed with devlan mud (so you end up with clean front half of the barrel
* front half washed with Leviathan Purple (slightly feathered into the devlan mud part)
* the "tip" of the barrel washed with thinned Asurmen Blue wash.

Here's a link to his plog for reference, hope this helps:

Couldn't use your technique, don't have the paints for it, I had to settle for a simple devlan mud was over boltgun metal and some thinned black close to the muzzle. But the link was appreciated, thank you.

As for being nearly there, not really, I still need at least 10 more guardsmens, a PCS and a CCS. And then I'll do my first vehicle which will be a Hades Breaching Drill of gloom and doom

Really enjoying your progress so far! I really would recommend highlighting those uniforms! All those fantastic depths of grey...so many possibilities. I'd keep it short and simple though, say a basecoat of black, then layering greys on. Great work bob!

I have been layering all my models except those shown in the thread (if by layering, you mean putting a lot of very thin layers of paint, that is) then I drybrush, then I put a wash (sometimes 2, the engineers are far more dirty than the Grenadiers).

Thanks for the good words

Tomorrow (saturday) is painting saturday, I should be done with the HWT and post pictures of the Engies and the HWT, they were done using layering, there should be a significant difference.

I will probably strip down the current Grenadiers at one point and redo them with proper layers as well.

And words of praise are always appreciated

Bump and and update, Engineers and Grenadiers Heavy Weapon Teams and then some

The Engineers, done everything with the same colors as I've done the Grenadiers, but applied more wash, less dilutated wash and 2 washes (Badab black and Devlan Mud)

Officer, notice the shoulder rank insignia, which I actually done properly

Engineer 1

Engineer 2, with a demo charge

Engineer 3

Engineer 4

HWT, well its more Grenadiers, nothing else new here

Heavy Stubber

Heavy Flamer

Normal squad, bought it on Kijiji along with an unpainted HWT with an autocannon (All are WIP, haven't primed the autocannon yet)

That's it for the update, quality of the picture leaves something to be desired, sorry, bases aren't done for the HWT, and I have a bunch of bits to prime/glue/paint, engineers need canteens and knifes/swords and the HWT need a few things here and there.

Here it is, as promised.

First, the Centaur, that I might or might not have mentionned here, using it as a Hades Breaching Drill, bought for 15$ well painted, but not by me, missing a few pieces.

A Quad gun (and Aegis Defence line, but not pictured, its not painted, and everyone knows how it looks)

A basilisk that I bought for 25$, it'll become an Earthshaker carriage and a hellhound and varients with a bit of work, both need stripping and repainting, color's for other people.

The Carriage, missing crew

The Hellhound, missing lots of things.

I plan on covering the black plastic piece, and put tubes coming out of it directly on two heavy flamers glued to the pintle.

The meat of my army

First squad, the one you've seen in a WIP earlier.

A few details

I want YOU!

Probably my guy carrying the most gear

Those guy were bought used, and so were missing all their gear and tools, lucky for me, there was enough spares in my PCS and Advancing squad to kit those guys up, don't have any primer in a pot.

Took me long enough to find a plasma gun, but its there to stay, the squad had no special weapons when I bought it.

Other squad, WIP

The squad above also have those backpacks

Details:

Gave this guy a melta bomb, for additional kaboom when his grenade blows up. Yes, he just primed a grenade, its not too clear on the picture.

The flamer, I had a spare lasgun, so hey, why not.

Other stuff:

I realised I forgot to upload a picture of my melta-gunners.
They're heroes.

More pictures of Grenadiers heavy weapon team

Not ready, at all:

PCS

Autocannon HWT, came with the finished squad, I have nowhere to use it right now, I will need my CCS to do that.

Other things, no picture: I have a Commissar-General (in fact its a PCS Officer with lots of greenstuff) that is being greenstuffed by someone with the appropriate items, will show pictures when I get it.

In a non Grey related story, I bought Stormtroopers for cheap, because they look very awesome, I've also bought a ton of stuff since my last posts, and I kinda forgot about the thread for a while, I'll post more Kriegsmen pictures in the future, as well as my WIP Valkyrie and other toys.

Spoiler:

Faces aren't painted because I don't have the paints for them, Kriegsmen and faces don't go together well after all, I got doubles because the seller had mixed Stormtroopers, so he sold me what he had, which I am fine with, the guy holding down his gun and not wearing a mask is the Sargeant, I am figuring a way out to make him stand more.

Oh and the camo pattern on the cloth was made following Aaron Oakleaf tut: http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/7054706/1/ except for the fact that I don't have Bleached Bone paint.

I have converted a Chimera and strapped too much stowage on it, according to a friend of mine at least, also added an autocannon, because it really is a storm Chimera!

The smoke launcher, heavy stubber as well as the antennas broke off, the turret is completely covered in stuff, usually

I am not done, of course

Mole pattern hunter-killer missile

I figured that since it carries Grenadiers and that they already have heavy backpack and armor, the extra stuff will have to be external. Here is the tutorial I followed http://theback40k.blogspot.ca/2010/04/converting-set-back-chimeras-part-i.html

Couldn't let the Centaur go unloved, either, its missing a vox caster, the big pouches are SM stuff.

if you can spot the extra heavy stubber ammo box I added in between the driver and the gunner, that's good, its there, I swear.

Big post, almost Dkok sorry, its mostly Stormtroopers and conversions. And knights, too.

First off, the hellhound and variant, it will need a new coat of paint, but most of the modelling work is done, might add a few pipes on the back tank to add details.

Then the custom Tempestor Prime, he's missing a grip for his grenade launcher, but he's good for a show. People in Crusade of Fury RP threads will have seen him already, except for the last picture, because I realised I missed a few details. His is name is Riley Enoch (oh and props to fellow user Tazyel for helping me big time in the making of that guy)

Next one is a squad of Kasrkins, not a lot of pictures, because I need to strip them (bought e'm for 40$ when they went OOP and the kid who sold them to me first wanted to just give them away, he's also the one that painted them) and because their poses are nothing new, being all metal, customization is a bit harder.

Next one are the Stormtroopers I bought a long long while ago, painted them in the autumn flecktarn style. Again not too many pictures because metal semi monopose stuff.

The Kriegsman a friend made, he's also the one who sent me the link about the flecktarn tutorial, unfortunately, I lost the link.

The reason why I've lost motivation to make progress on my Kriegsmen, I see all those broken barrels and it just discourages me, this model is one of the first standard guardsmen I got, so he's almost 100% done, I only need to remember to do his shoulder guards.

The Scions proper, they'll get dumped in paint stripper, because I've been going at it with way too thick paint. First attempts at magnetizing, too.

First off the Tempestor, I've lost his knife arm (not too bad, still got the chainsword to with as a generic CCW), and his hotshot pistol arm (ma-fething-jor problem, I am pretty pissed about this, because I use this guy as a refence as to what every Tempestor/Primes are equipped with, and with the pistol gone, it'll complicate things)

Normal Scion

Normal Scion

Plasma Scion notice his beret, genericish pose and lack of Scion bits, this Scion came for free with the Kasrkins I bought, so it wasn't assembled by me, bought a bunch of bits from the store I used to go and kitted him there

Plasma Scion oh... this one... I was lacking a body and a pair of legs, so I bought some IG onesfrom a friend, but they don't fit, the magnetizing is especially awful, but I think its because of the smaller body, it would fit well on a Scion body. I gave him the medkit because of Gets Hot! problems, little gamer humour. I've put magnets there in case I need an extra melta gun, but more often than not, I use 2 plasmas in the same squad.

Normal Scion

Normal Scion, his left arm is probably the one that would fit the melta gun right, so when I'll get around to redo those guys, I'll freeze that guy and swap the arms with the one I've put some metal on.

Knights! The guy on the left is a Bretonnian lord one of my ex bought for me, it was looking great when I was done with him, but careless transport chipped the paint and broke off the arrows that I glued on his shield. The guy on the right is about 2$ worth of parts I bought at the store I used to go, Bretonnian and Empire parts were used.

That Tempestor Prime looks kick ass. Like the kind of guy you would follow in storming the gates of hell itself. Can't wait to see him painted.

I am wondering, are the resin gun barrels of Forge World minis flimsier than the plastic ones from GW? I've never worked with a whole lot of resin, and the ones I have are vehicles.

The Krieg lasguns are TINY. I think its part of why they break so much, the hellguns and shotguns of the Grenadiers/Engineers are much thicker, and so I never had any of those break off.

Little bump, I assembled Greatswords and I think they look great. I am still missing 2 torsos and 2 pairs of legs, as well as 4-5 hand weapons, before I start painting them

I hope I made my Count Champion/Freeguild Champion obvious enough in there, he's one of my favorite model in my entire collection.

There's 14 of them in there, I bought extra parts from bits stores and I still have 2 pairs of arms and at least 20 heads left, so I might as well use them. Probably saved a good 20 to 30 dollars by buying bits.

Dry fitting an early Harakoni Warhawk test model, I think it looks cool (thanks for those who helped me pick parts in the relevant thread) I haven't fitted legs or arms because they're the Cadian ones, so I know they'll fit well. The next step is deciding wether I want to cut down the lasguns or not.

The buttpacks will get linked to a modified Cadian lasgun, I bought scopes and PEQ's from Anvil Industries, the scopes fit well on the lasguns, and so would the PEQ's, but I want to cut down the lasgun, leaving me with little room to fit the PEQ's, oh well, gonna figure this one out with the help of a friend later on this week. As for other parts, the head and buttpacks are from Mad Robot and the grav chute is the FW one.

Bonus pics, I got me an Empire Captain/General, gave him a spare sword from my Greatswords kit.

Edit: I have done a few cutting tests with a random lasgun I had, and it really doesn't look good, so I guess I'll stick with full size lasguns, they look smaller than other Stormtroopers weapons anyway.

I have painted things, finally, not 40k stuff, but hey its Warhammer, right?

None of them are done, but there's a chance I'll finish the Wight King this week-end. so here goes.

Friend of mine did the cloak. The big thing left is the face, and I am thinking of making it look like the Wight still has rotten skin left, rather than painting a pure bony face. I went for a Blood Dragon styled armor, leaving the mail and the sword clean and well kept.

Next model is my Count's Champion, went for a Carroburg Greatsword scheme, I am only missing a black metallic paint to finish the armor he'll be done.

I am a lot more pleased with the fur of the cloak, especially compared to the one on the Wight King, which I kinda messed up. The green on the laurel crown was delibaretly made this way to look faded and worn out.

It wouldn't be a Bobthehero model if they weren't outfit with far more kit than might be needed, but! The squad is now 97% assembled. They're meant to be first line troop that assault the enemy position and occupy it for a long time, thus they need to be able to sustain a fight.

Everyone is outfitted with a varierty of pouches, an entrentching tool, sleeping bag/mattress, water canteen, and ''potato masher'' style grenade, the special weapon guys have pistols in holsters. All those bits are from Madrobot Miniatures, the Grenadier kit also comes with a knife, which I forgot, and was all too happy to add. I didn't add as much variety and unique extra kit compared to the other Grenadier squad, however, they feel more complete. The bigger pouches, for the Hellgunners, are meant to be spare cables and pieces for their guns, while the small pouches are magasine-sized power packs to be used in the event the cables get damaged in action. There's no official lore that backs this, but the metal Stormtroopers have cable-less Hellguns, and so I think it's possible.

You'll notice #8 has one such pack on his gun, the cable came miscast and too short, and I broke it while trying to shape it properly. So I improvised with bits of resin. Keen eyes may notice he's got a pouch by his feet. This guy is the squad's breacher, and he's the reason the squad is only 97% assembled, as I am waiting on a friend of mine to 3d print me a shotgun I'll be able to add to his kit. The pouch by his feet contains smaller breaching charges, worn there with a plate of Ceramite so that in case the charge explodes, it doesn't hit a vital organ or artery.

#1: The Watchmaster, his chainsword was wrapped, I'll need to work on it.

#2: Grenade Launcher, I could work on the barrel's inside, I did try, but I think a small drill will work better than a knife for clean up

#3: Flamer, same as the Watchmaster, his weapon is wrapped

#4: Hellgunner

#5: Hellgunner

#6: Hellgunner

#7: Hellgunner, always been my favorite model of the bunch, I just like my soldier aiming. Unfortunately his Greatcoat broke at the bottom when I tried to scrape of some sprue part. I used a bit of modeling putty to make the damage look less artificial, to simulate battle damage

#8: Hellgunner/Breacher

#9: Hellgunner

#10: Hellgunner, as per usual, apparently, this one gave me the most trouble with assembly, just like the #10 from the first squad, the more things change...

No painting progress, unfortunately, I am waiting on the shotgun to be printed, my friend recently moved out and his 3d print set up isn't ready, I also need to order primer online, the store I go to was all out.

But! I assembled more things in the meanwhile, the new Kasrkins, which are really freaking cool, as GW finally realised that just because you're a sergeant or a medic, you can carry and use a full size rifle. They'll have to learn that breachers can also use full sized rifles, but one step at a time.

#1. The Sergeant, who carries a Hellgun. I added a spare Madrobot Miniatures holstered pistol to add a mean to distinguish him some more, though the tactical rock he stands on and the fact he is one of the only two Hellgunners that just carry a Hellgun should help, as well.

#2. The Vox Caster. Not much to tell about that one, he's unfortunately a little restricted when it comes to what you can do with him, as he's got a unique backpack, and the only Hellgun carried in the left hand.

#3. The Recon/Hotshot Volley-Gun. Unfortunately, he has to take on a double role in the squad, as I wanted to have one regular Hellgunner looking down his sight that wasn't the Marksman or the Sergeant, I just like the pose. I may rotate the Auspex's arm, his pose looks a little off. I also messed up his visor a little, but that's nothing that can't be fixed with putty. When it comes to rules, I'll likely count his Volley-Gun as a regular Hellgun to benefit from the Recon's special rule, but, the option is there if I want to have more fire power.

#4. The other Hotshot Gunner, that may be confused for a Sergeant, but I really liked the idea of the guy looking like he was outflanked, but ready for it, as fitting for an elite Kasrkin.

#5. The Medic, with his left hand slightly repositioned, in a pose that's meant to evoke that he's sick of dealing with the grunts ignoring sound medical advice. A friend of mine who used to be a combat medic told me that was very much something they dealt with.

#6. The first Plasma Gunner, I wish he could be aiming down the sights of his plasma gun, but then again, those coils get bright, so perhaps it's safer. But then again, they have visors for a reason... Either way, I like the sling attached to the gun even if it did get in the way of posing the head.

#7. The second Plasma Gunner, unfortunately, probably my least favorite pose of the bunch, if slightly redeemed by the fact that I am declaring he's the guy being scolded by the medic. Once again, the sling was cool, and didn't get in the way this time.

#8. The Breacher. I swapped the recommended Hellpistol from the instructions to the one that is supposed to fit on the Sergeant, and moved his head around so that he looks like he's firing as he's closing on his target. Nice model, but I feel like he could have been given more kit, some manner of manual tool, smaller, more numerous breaching charges, and of course a full size rifle.

#9. The Marksman, same as the Vox-Caster, not a whole lot to do there to derive from the official model. I wish I could have had 10 of those heads with the Magnocular/Nightvision googles, however, those are really cool. Also big fan of the Hotshot Marksman Rifle (Hellmarksman Rifle? Marksman pattern Hellgun?) not needing cable, as it feeds my theory that Hellguns can be used with or without the cables.

#10. The last Kasrkin, the one without a really special role, just an elite dude with a rifle, but hey, cool pose! I am thinking of ways to enhance him with extra bits and whatnot. The whole kit is kinda bare in that regards, each bodies come with their own pre-cast grenades and pouches, but it feels like they're missing something. But I guess adding another sprue to add bits would have been overkill, considering the 3 sprues that make up the kit are already pretty loaded.

Edit: Bonus picture, scale comparision, new Kasrkin, metal Stormtrooper, metal Kasrkins, resin Grenadier, plastic Scion, resin tacticool Operator from Anvil, plastic Kasrkin. Missing there is a plastic Stormtrooper from 2nd ed and one of my custom Stormtroopers made mostly from a Cadian body, those are packed away and I had none handy for a picture.

Hey Bob, the size comparison piccy isn't showing. Can you try to repost that one? I'm really interested in how they size up to eachother as I have a bucketload of the old metal ones.

Strange, I see it on my end, here it is, let me know if you want me to move things around or shuffle models.

It does show now on my laptop, must have been a problem on my end. Thanks though!

The size difference between the new ones and the metal Kasrkin isn't as bad as I had feared. Kind of annoying that they come on a different base size though.

Happy to help. Unfortunately, I can't recommend 25mm bases for the Kasrkins, as their stance seem to be quite wide, and it looks to me like most would be too broad for the smaller bases. The guy on the left would fit on a 25mm, but the Marksman wouldn't, for example.
