Name: Drenzyk the Abyssal
Occupation: Overlord
Background: Drenzyk was an avid tinkerer of fear and mind toying weaponry as well as phase technology. So much so that he had as a Necrontyr began ruling those under him using such technology to keep those who dare cross him in line. During the Necrontyr Civil War, his desire for power consumed him and he began using his toys to meddle in the affairs of phaerons and other overlords, causing large bloody battle to arise and plague the Necrontyr Empire. Now as a Necron, Drenzyk seems no different. He had awoken early and decided to traverse the galaxy to see how time had progressed. Being the meddler he had been known to be, he would occasionally visit a planet and hide in another dimension from where he would inspire and implant fear, dread, and hatred amongst the species that roamed the planet. One of his stops was Earth upon which he toyed world leaders and petty men into ravaging continents of their planet with glee. Eventually he adopted the image of the Nightbringer for himself, appearing to those he found detrimental to his meddling as a tall hooded specter with a scythe in hand, sometimes scaring those individuals into doing what he desired, other times, to drain them of life leaving them cold and lifeless with only expressions of abject horror written upon their faces. Draza'kar the Unbounded and Drenzyk have often clashed as Draza'kar find the methods of Drenzyk to be despicable and monstrous at best. However, they both agree that the reemergence of the Necrons is in both of their best interests and have put aside their differences to the extent that they can work together. However one day, when the Necrons regain mastery of the galaxy, these two will surely confront each other once more in a battle that will surely tear Deimos in twain.
Description: Drenzyk bears semblance to the Nightbringer, wearing a hooded mantle and bearing a scythe known as Hypnos. However, he is short when compared to the stature of other Lords which has caused some of them (who have entertained themselves with reading upon human history) to say he has a Napoleon Complex. He tends to be accompanied by crypteks of despair and destruction as well as a few lords who are known as the Pariahs (because they're the good old Pariah Models).
You will either giggle or facepalm.....so without further ado

Name : Imothep
Occupation : Lynchguard
Background : Well I have no real experience witht he new Necrons, so feel free to make whatever suits your needs really
Name: Draza'kar the Unbounded
Occupation: Overlord
Background: Draza'kar always differed from his fellow necrons, when he was still alive and when he ascended into an Necron warrior. Draza'kar had kept almost all of his former memories and feelings when he became one of the necrons, refusing to become an mindless robot like his bretheren. He though this abilty as a "gift", but this it came with a prize. When the necrons entered in their long sleep, Draza'kar was unable to join with his bretheren. No one knows if its bacause of his memories or just because his robotic body has malfunctioned somehow. Never the less, Draza'kar was doomed to wander around the sleeping tombs for millions of years, the life in solitude slowly eating away his sanity. He inscribed some of his most trusted lychguard with arcane runes, turning the into powerful necron lords but yet still not awakening them. When an ork warband opened their tomb, most of them vanished into bright green light and were never seen again. Draza'kar himself emerged from the tomb, still retaining his memories, but now very mad and angry. He proceeded to slaughter the rest of the orks and then activating an ancient c'tan shard, which powered the whole tomb. Now he marches with his army, believing that every other creature in the galaxy are just there to be horribly slaughtered and tortured. He has come to blows many times with Drenzyk the Abyssal, but ignores hims when hes not in his way.
Description: A tall silver necron lord who wears ancient rune inscribed armour and carries a mighty warscythe. His eyes blaze with unholy and furious fire and he has fashioned a cloak of human skin on to him.
Ps. Sorry Black Templar, but i managed to creep her beforey you
Name: Kryptix the immortal
Occupation: Immortal
Background: Kryptix was once upon a time a Necrontyr just like the rest of the necrons. Long story short a bunch of crazy stuff happened and now he is a metal robot resembling a skeleton programmed to kill. He was handed a Gauss blaster and until recently was sleeping for a really long time. Recently, how ever he was awoken by his overlord Drenzyk the Abyssal and has been sent around the galaxy slaughtering any thing that moves because he is programmed to do so. The end
Description: He looks like a metal skeleton wielding a Gauss blaster. He has no personality at all and is indistinguishable from any of the other rank and file troops.

So half the battle is over, so here is how everyone is doing so far:
Drenzyk (me) has killed 4 kroot and is busy chasing the rest of the squad off the board
Draza'kar nothing
Niralan nothing
Mr. T with help from wraiths time arrowed a HQ crisis suit and decimated his bodyguard to one guard with one wound and one drone
Imothep nothing
Kryptix nothing
Mor'tza has immobilized the enemies Devilfish (and his quantum shielding saved him from 4 seeker missiles) killed two gun drones, and 7 firewarriors but you need to work on your aim, scattering 7" is unacceptable, lol
Battle will be finished tomorrow and report posted tomorrow here. 'Til then. Oh and it's a 1560 point battle
Draza'kar with Imothep and 4 other lychguard killed firewarriors to a man and penned a devilfish a ton, but the devilfish kill doesn't go to you...
Niralan with RES orb saved his squad of immortals (including Kryptix a couple times) and gets the honor of exploding the Devilfish
Mr. T has an crisis commander and bodyguard to his name with the assistance of Wraiths and 3 kroot hounds. Sadly you were killed by a combo of lucky wounds from the bodyguard entourage and TL missile pods from another crisis team.
Kryptix, you destroyed two weapons on a Piranha and then blew it up.
Mor'tza killed 2 gun drones, 2 stealth suits, 7 firewarriors, immobilized the devilfish, and 1 crisis suit.
Special shout out to the two Wraith squads.
Squad 1 killed a crisis commander and his guard on their own and wrecked a hammerhead
Squad 2 assisted the Mr. T in killing the other crisis command squad, weapon destroyed the devilfish, and wrecked face on another crisis squad wiping the unit down to one suit with one wound.
It's okay, just need to work on that scatter roll.
Also , we killed the tau force to a man. 1 crisis suit with one wound left was all that was left standing at the end of the game. If we had continued he would of had 3 Wraiths, 5 Lychguard, and 1 Overlord (Draza'kar) on him.
Drenzyk looked upon the enemy encampment that lay before him. Tau, those who fought for their illusion of the so called Greater Good. "Pathetic," he sneered as he turned and trotted back towards the entrance of the Tomb. As he approached the entrance he bumped into Draza'kar the Unbounded, his arch rival, but for now his greatest ally.
"Well what is it?" Asked Draza'kar.
"Tau, a scouting force it would appear to be," replied Drenzyk.
Draza'kar pondered for a moment then replied, "The Necrontyr doctrine of old dictates that we give them fair chance to leave before we destroy them..."
"...But that risks them informing the rest of their empire that we are here which risks an invading force," Drenzyk said, finishing what Draza'kar was thinking.
Draza'kar glared at Drenzyk, always having been suspicious that he had planted some sort of device to read his mind "Yes," he said, "so it is better if we make them meet a fatal accident here, we still need time to awaken the rest of our brethren." Drenzyk sneered, he would not call those automatons brothers or brethren, they were merely slaves and drones to fulfill a purpose. "And besides," said Draza'kar, "Our phaeron has yet to awaken, we must keep him safe until then." Drenzyk was lucky that his face no longer showed emotion for the contempt he held for the Phaeron was tremendous, so much hate he held for the Phaeron that he had made sure he would never awaken, but he could not reveal that, so for now he had to play the dutiful servant.
"Yes," Drenzyk nodded, "We must keep our lord safe, let us annihilate the Tau."
The Necron force approached quietly slowly advancing through cover until they had the Doomsday Ark in position at which point the Tau force realized that the Necrons were there. Immediately the Tau began preparing for the assault moving into positions that would allow them to release volumes of fire power. What they didn't realize was the speed of the Wraiths. Or the power and range of the Doomsday Ark operated by the lucky Mor'tza. Immediately, Mor'tza lay down some hurt, immobilizing the Tau's Devilfish transport and killing two drones that happened to be much too close to the Devilfish taking the enemy by surprise which gave the rest of the Necrons precious time to move forward not being harassed by the enemy.
The Devilfish being immobilized, the Tau firewarriors scrambled out, realizing they were sitting ducks and sought the cover of a wood line which unfortunately for them caught the eye of Mor'tza who released yet another blast from his Doomsday Ark which unfortunately missed all but one Firewarrior. Meanwhile the Tau outflanked an elite stealth team who popped up right next to Mor'tza and his cannon and markerlighted the Ark which resulted in seeker missiles to come pouring in, fortunately, the Quantum Shielding held. The Wraiths, as expected, encountered Crisis suit teams, which turned out to be the two Leaders of the scout force and their bodyguards.
The Epic Chaosdude!!! wrote:Well I got some fire warriors and survived the battle. Draza'kar is mildly pleased...
Yeah, the Wraith wave turned out to be much more effective than I anticipated against Tau. I mean I thought they'd mess them up, but not so much actually mow them down so easily. So... you can blame the Wraiths for taking out all the fun. (I actually had to deliberately "heel" them to ensure everyone got to mess something up).
Cryptek: Anhur of the Eyes of Heaven Background: A Harbinger of Destruction, Anhur was among the Crypteks involved in the shattering of the C'tan into shards, and during the War in Heaven, earned the title "...of the Eyes of Heaven" for his succeeding in using arcane sciences to pierce psychic barriers and shrouds, earning him the fear and hate of the Old Ones and the Eldar. Like most Necrons, he went into dormancy after the end of the War in Heaven, but awakened early towards the end of the Great Crusade. Observing Imperial history, Anhur is one of the few Necrons who has expressed interest in Mankind. He considers them very similar to his race, and sees them walking down the same path: ultimately selling their souls to the Chaos Powers just as his people sold their souls to the C'tan, and at the the end betraying and destroying those same Powers. While many consider his interest in Mankind foolish, none dare say such things to his face, for his power is real. Anhur hates the Old Ones, and sees the Eldar as no different, arrogant fools who believe in vain aspirations and unable to comprehend the true darkness of the universe. The only races Anhur acknowledges with respect are Mankind and the Tyranids, and to a certain extent, the Orks. "Mankind comprehends the darkness of this universe, and so prove themselves superior to their weakling elder cousins, the Eldar. Both the Orks and the Tyranids have achieved a level of evolutionary perfection. Of these three, no others apart from us are truly worthy of the stars." - Proclamation of Anhur of the Eyes of Heaven Description: Anhur is a typical Cryptek with his once brilliantly polished living-metal body now dark and tarnished with age. Over this he has a cape of dark red, emblazoned with emblems of his allegiance. His body is well armored, and decorated with emblems of his rank and position as a Harbinger of Destruction. Wielding a might Eldritch Lance into battle, Anhur channels the very might of the material universe against his enemies, just as he did so long ago against the Old Ones and even the C'tan themselves.
Name: Vhun'kra the Herald
Occupation: Lord
Background: Alike his metallic peers, Vhun usually remembers flashes and fragments of his long gone flesh-bound body. Before the bio-transferrence, he had been an unequalled actor and opera singer within the Necrontyr race. Royalty from other dynasties would travel great distances for a chance to hear the voice of Vhun, for his ability was widely known. Not only would he receive adoring fans from around the galaxy, but there would be the frequent attempts to nullify him and his voice. Cynics, skeptics and assassins tried to behead his stature - literally or metaphorically, sometimes both - in order to quell Vhun. Therefore, he took it upon himself to train with the dynasties best bladesmen so he may not only defend himself, but also one day wage war. He quickly took to the ways of the blade and, alongside his vocal abilities, honed his skills of the arts. The years past with multiple plays and also numerous assaults, until Vhun finally attained eternal status as Herald of the Court.
After he was transferred from his biological form, he discovered ways to weaponize the artistic talents he had come to master. When the War In Heaven started, he joined the dynasty's legions in battle, lending both blade and voice to crush the Old Ones and their kin. Rebellion against the C'tan again allowed him to utilize his ways of war, though testing him to extreme ends. Now, after the semblanty limitless years have gone and the dynasty has awoken, Vhun has found his voice to be much different. Instead of the dark and sonorous baritone that should have emanated, there was an emotionless and toneless butcher. Vhun was no longer gifted. Upon this realization, there came the coincidental warning from the tomb world. There were creatures seeking to take the planet as their own. Vhun'kra will march alongside the legions of Deimos once again, announcing to the enemy their self-inflicted demise. Vhun'kra the Herald will regain his former voice, even if it means he must deny the enemy of their own vocal cords...
Description:
Clearly he was modelled with a Hyperphase sword, along with a scepter that will hold a Res Orb eventually, but you can depict him however you would like. Feel free to copy my conversion or whatnot...
The Wraiths took some heavy fire and shrugged it off as they pounced upon the Crisis Commanders. As they did so, distracting the enemy to the danger that was close and present, the rest of the force continued marching closer and closer. Drenzyk left the Immortals assigned to him ordering them to take care of the stealth suits that popped up as he proceeded towards the enemy encampment. He was lucky that he did so for then a pack of Kroot and hounds pounced upon the unsuspecting Immortals obliterating them. However they failed to notice Drenzyk in their assault which would turn out to be a fatal error.
One squad of wraiths quickly destroyed the Crisis command squad they encountered as the commander had attempted to flee but failed. After running down the squad, they began moving in onto the enemy's hammerhead. The other squad was not so lucky and had been tied up in combat with what turned out to be a veteran Commander who displayed such knowledge of hand to hand melee that later Draza'kar, who witnessed the battle, would wonder if he was a pupil of the infamous Farsight. However, no matter how well he and his guard seemed to match themselves against the Wraiths, they were no match for, though weakened, the C'tan Mr. T. Mr. T used his mighty power of Time's Arrow and suddenly the Tau commander vanished, soon after fell the rest of the squad, allowing the Wraiths to bound forward. As they did so, Mor'tza was having a blast, quiet literally, he had survived against two more markerlights, disintegrated 6 more of the firewarrior squad that had sought shelter in the woods, and killed two of the three stealth suits, and their markerlight drone. Drenzyk had pounced upon the unsuspecting pack of kroot using his mind manipulating powers to cause one to kill his own brethren. The kroot, seeing the fearsome visage of Drenzyk, unleashed a volley of strikes, all futile against his enhanced armor and phase shifter. As they completed their strikes, Drenzyk raised his behemoth of a scythe, Hypnos, and cut down three kroot and a hound. Pitifully, the fools did not realize that their efforts were in vain and continued to lash out against Drenzyk. Another three kroot would fall and to his blade before they fled. Drenzyk then turn his attention to the remaining stealth suit, cursing the Immortals who failed in their task, and cut him down as well.
As the last of the remaining command squad died, the wraihs bounded forward in search of a menacing prey, the hammerhead. Mr. T however spotted 4 hounds making a mad dash away from Drenzyk and turned his attention towards them. No life would leave this field of battle. And he pounced on them. Despite smiting three of them, the hounds struck back equally as viciously in a desperate attempt to live, and weakened his armor tremendously. The last hound was able to flee Mr. T, and foolishly fled right back into Drenzyk who, with twisted pleasure, made the hound kill itself. Mr. T laughed at the hound, however he was not so lucky himself, a volley from the remaining firewarriors hidden in the wood line ruptured his necrodermis shell which immediately activated a tesseract labyrinth implanted in him trapping him into what appeared to be a tiny crystal. Drenzyk would come over to secure it, this was a weapon that even he feared if it fell into the wrong hands or worse, escaped.
Niralan knew the importance of not leaving any survivors upon this field of battle. Thus his eyes were set upon the Tau piranha, a fast moving vehicle that could easily escape the battle field. He marched the Immortals under his command even under withering fire of the Ion cannon mounted upon the hammerhead and the burst cannons of the immobilized devilfish. The Immortals fired volley upon volley onto the piranha which had successfully killed two Wraiths, until finally Kryptix release a burst of electricity that overloaded the circuits and ignited the fuel of the the Piranha. Niralan kept in mind to see if he could get upgrades bestowed upon Kryptix, even if he were but a machine now he was once Necrontyr like himself and deserved some reward.
Draza'kar swore under his breathe, the firewarriors had almost unleashed a fearsome fury upon the planet when they shot down the C'tan. He was thankful that the tesseract labyrinth had activated. But now, those warriors had to die. He pounced upon them with his lychguard entourage despite the volleys of fire that had crippled one that resulted in a cheer from the firewarriors which quickly died as the fallen lych got back up. Then the warscythes fell upon the Firewarriors under which all but one firewarrior died, two of those kills belonging to Imothep who had once been known throughout the Empire as a legendary weapons master. The remaining firewarrior made a mad flee for his life, and luckily for the cowardly tau, he escaped. His attention then turned upon the devilfish and in his rage of having the firewarrior escape his grasp, swung at it in anger as did his lych, but though their blades pentrated it hull, they did not slice through anything vital, or rather they had not the chance for the transport exploded suddenly and upon the other side of the wreckage Draza'kar saw Niralan with his remaining immortals and knew that Lord Niralan was the cause for the explosion. With a silent nod, they turned their attention to that which was left.
The Wraiths had done their job with the Hammerhead, however, one squad had been lost, unsuspecting of the flechette dischargers built into the hull. However the other squad witnessed this and with some caution proceeded to wreck the hammerhead. They then turned their attention to the remaining valiant, but stupid, crisis squad, and pounced. The squad fought hard but unfortunately for them they were no match for the Wraiths and soon all that was left was a single Suit, badly damaged, still fending off the Wraiths. He was able to glance up once to see Lychguard with an Overlord and another Lord with Immortals bearing down upon him....
End of battle...
Captured Crisis suit and operator, Interrogation in process.
One firewarrior escaped, No need to worry of him escaping the planet as all craft of the Tau exploratory team where destroyed. Wraiths and scarabs currently on the prowl for remaining intruder. Orders to capture/kill.
Next battle I may not take all of you guys as I intend to try out a Necron "Deathstar" unit. Enemy is either going to be vanilla ish marines or Chaos Space Marines.
Name: Zirtran the shield
Occupation: Lychguard
Background: Zirtran has been a loyal servant to the Nakthyst Dynasty for as long as it has been around,
his undying loyalty has saved many lords and overlords over the milleniums, but usually at the cost of his own robotic body.
He is well known for trying to stop every bullet and projectile shot at his superiors by blocking them with whatever he can
get in the way, his head is his most common choice. This has led to his bretheren thinking he must have a malfunction due
to all the times his head has been repaired, but his commanders call him the shield and keep him close at hand, using his loyalty
to protect themselves from bigger threats. Not one to question athority before his transfer, as a necron Zirtran follows orders
to death knowing he will most likely be repaired or phased back to his tomb.
Oh, and Tau wants a rematch, shall we annihilate them? I believe we shall. And we're going all out fellas, everyone is going to be decked out with gear, EVERYBODY
BBB: Those ASDF movies are just ridiculously silly...
Zomjie: Not really into dubstep, but that's a fairly interesting song...
KP: Disregarding the grammatical and other issues, that was an enjoyable read. For future battle reports, would you be able to post the army lists along with the story?
Also, that song really fits the Necron feel, but I'm more partial to stuff like this...
Not sure if any of you are into that kind of music, but I find that song to be epic.
Edit: Okay, I tried to link it from my phone, but I failed to figure that out. Type the "Tombs To Cross The Land" into the YT search if you want to listen to it. They're black/thrash/sludge metal in case you're wondering...
Hey thanks! Big reason for all the errors was I was doing the battle report via mobile... Yes the entire battle report was done mobile. My thumbs hate me for it right now (especially since I'm on mobile right now). And I would have posted the army lists but I never saw his, he just told me his came out to 1560 and within 10 minutes I made a 1560 point list. If you guys want, I can post our army list from that battle. But his is "gone." I trust my opponent though, he has never lied before so I take it that he had a 1560 point army to field.
Name: Intef the Merciful
Occupation: Cryptek
Background: Intef all but lost his soul in the transfer like many others, being reverted to a blank template recalling nothing but the first euphoria of his new mechanical body, but a glitch in the sleep protocols that caused him to be drift in and out of awareness whilst constantly having thoughts and dreams but leaving him incapable of movement or communication has caused him to develop a new personality. He is not only merciful, but pities the organic "Lesser Beings" seeing them as existing in an unenlightened way. He can be very philosophical in a way he often ponders questions about souls and emotion as he feels that true enlightenment comes from becoming a machine with a true soul and to feel the glory of mechanical life in comparison to the fragility of organic life. To this end he sees himself as a servant-he has already been enlightened and is incapable of a second ascension, and can only show the light to others and see in them that same joy once again. He comes to show the path and guide along it as many as he can. Despite this, he is a realist, understanding that the beings of the galaxy will resist the ascension he offers, and sees the destruction of foes as an act akin to preaching to the galaxy, leading him to fight with fanatical zeal.
My...my ears...where'd they go? Is that...them over...everywhere?
Lol, but for real... I think that's a little too fast for Necron speed. Slow, soulless machines just waking up from their aeons long stasis kind of vibe should be what you're listening for.
On the other hand...that song makes me want to go to a rave party, drop some acid and use some glowsticks to have a "lightsaber" duel with someone.
Zomjie wrote:So when do we wage war with the foolish tau?
Looks like this upcoming weekend, and with everyone decked out and bringing in some guys I forgot about.... We may have a 3000+ pt Apoc battle on our hands gentlemen. Pretty much the storyline is going to go that the surviving firewarrior is able to call in reinforcements, and they sure as hell send reinforcements.
My theme song suggestion is the London philhormonic orchestra doing the mass effect suicide mission track-YouTube it. I would embed but can't on a tablet, which is my only web-browsing tool.
Mr. T alongside wraiths - killed 1 vespid squad, 1 kroot shaper, 6 kroot hounds, 3 kroot carnivores
Kryptix - killed 2 kroot carnivores in CC and was the only one of his squad to survive.
Lych guardians imothep and zirtran killed two broadsides
Crypteks Anhur and Intef killed 1 piranha and 2 firewarriors
Drazakar alongside niralan, Vhun'kra, and three other lords killed pretty much an entire squad of firewarriors and 2 broadsides. Took and shrugged off a ton of shots.
Drenzyk - 3 firewarriors via sweep attack from CCB, 1 ethereal and his honor guard, 1 hammerhead.
Unnamed units:
Destroyer lord and wraiths - 1 HQ crisis w/ bodyguard, 1 devilfish, 1 pathfinder squad
The Epic Chaosdude!!! wrote:Finally I've managed to get some blood. Let those tau think that they outnumber us, for it only makes chasing them off easier...
Making your conversion drew plenty of blood... My blood.
And it was pretty neat seeing the lords shrug off 6 ion cannon shots and I don't remember how many rail shots like it was nothing.
Name: Kharash the Prowler
Occupation: Canoptek Wraith
Background: Before the biotransferrence, Kharash was known for his stealthiness and ability to slip past defenses. During the War of Heaven, Kharash volunteered to lead scouting parties that penetrated deep into the areas of space controlled by the Old Ones. His skill was so great, he once managed to penetrate a grand fortress and copy down the planned deployments of the Old Ones' fleet. This gave the Necrontyr a short-lived victory spree against the Old Ones. When Szarekh made his agreement with the Deceiver, Kharash was one of the many scouts chosen to inhabit the serpentine, ghostlike Wraith shells. After being interred, Kharesh's natural stealth abilities, coupled with the phasing ability of the Wraith body, made him even more adept at sneaking through enemy lines. He was one of the Necrons who first found ways into the Webway, eventually leading to the fall of the Old Ones. However, when the Silent King ordered the Great Sleep, Kharash vanished. Now that his Dynasty's forces are awakening, Kharash has finally reappeared, and once again leads his fellow Wraiths in daring raids behind enemy lines.
I'm honored to be a part of such a project as this. Hopefully Kharash still retains his sneaking abilities, eh?
Welcome Kharash the Prowler! Glad to see someone take up a wraith slot. You'll definitely be getting plenty of kills in the battles to come.
To everyone: Doesn't look like a battle will be coming up this next weekend, so no demanding blood! I'll try to get the battle report posted tomorrow, it's quite a handful to write up.

Wouldn't say that, our opponent had the piranhas set for kamikaze, if you guys didn't pop him, then it's very possible that someone else would have had a bad tank shock. So in my book, you and the other cryptek still mattered in more or less ensuring a total wipe down of our opponent. And don't forget the solar pulses, main reason as to why the broadsides and hammerheads couldn't even touch the Doomsday Ark except with their smart missiles.

Doesn't sound that bad when you put it that way. Are you going to put up pictures of the army?
Battle report moved to page 5... and if it's not up by th time you get on, that's because I am typing it up as you read this.
Sorry guys, I'm tired, week and weekend long fight with the girlfriend and frankly I don't have the energy to write it up right now. Gah, why do girls have to be so damn complicated... *sigh*

Because you have to work for good things! They don't come to you wrapped up with a pretty pink bow! YOU HAVE TO GO OUT, FIND THAT GOOD THING, BUY IT, WRAP IT WITH YOUR BEST WRAPPING PAPER, AND THEN PUT THE BOW ON!!!
Horrible analogy aside, it's just part of life. Hope you can resolve it.

I fixed it for you. It didn't sound Khorney enough last time.
Battle report is probably going to be delayed until this weekend, school, job hunting, family issues, and girlfriend all have been pretty stressful and tiresome. Just don't have the energy to put it up right now so for now I'll be doing some relatively menial stuff. We have three songs tied for 1st so starting a a survivor game I suppose on this thread with each song starting out with 10 points. YOU MAY ONLY SUBTRACT POINTS AND ONLY SUBTRACT AFTER EITHER 4 PEOPLE POST AFTER YOU OR AFTER 4 HOURS. Violators will be reprogrammed to do the "I'm a little Teapot" Song And Dance and sent as gifts to the Squats.
(Robot Dubstep Mix) 10
(Best Techno Song 2011/2012) 9--- (My Vote)
(Descent into Madness) 10
Subtract ONLY people. I'd like to get this over quickly and sorry black templar, as much as I like that song, no can do, the time for suggestions passed.
Dr. Temujin wrote:What kind of Crypteks are you using? I could write a quick bio depending on the answer.
Actually if you want. I'll let you decide for yourself, if you choose to be not classified as one or another, allows me a bit more flexibility as I see advantages and disadvantages in all of them.
Really? Awesome!
Name: Szalas, The Geo-Master
Geo-mancer Cryptek
As a soldier on the battlefield, Szalas is without peer amongst his coven of geomancers, and is certainly a boon to whomever hires his services. His ability to shape the earth as he sees fit whenever he needs to is formidable, and enemies often find themselves suddenly traversing through a maze of rock and stone as they are cut down by withering gauss fire. As a fellow Necron, he is generally not to be trusted. When Drenzyk first appointed the sly Cryptek to his court, he was polite and seemed to follow orders as per usual. As time past, however, and more battles were fought, Szalas began to show his true colors. The wily Cryptek began to manipulate others to gain more of the spoils or to back-stab those who have slighted him in the least. To add insult to injury, he can find a way to pin the crime on someone else, usually through manipulation of recording devices and twisted lies, and at the very least is able to slip away. It's only a matter of time, though, before someone returns the favor...
So, what do you think? Obviously a transmogrification cryptek, probably with seismic crumble. Though, I suppose it's for your discretion to make him a different branch or not. Just be sure to keep the back-stabbing part intact.
"Damn it!" Roared Draza'kar in frustration, the Tau Firewarrior that had been able to escape the battlefield had called in for help, now they were looking at a sizeable assault force landing on Deimos.
"Pity them," said Drenzyk to Draza'kar, "for they are drowned in their own unjustified arrogance. Soon we will teach them that they hold no rightful place amongst the stars." Draza'kar looked at Drenzyk, swearing that if they were still of flesh, there would be a cruel smile playing upon the lips of Drenzyk.
"Yes, pity them," muttered Draza'kar to himself. He then turned to Drenzyk "I shall prepare for battle..." He saw Drenzyk holding a shiny metal object a... coin? Ah yes, now he remembered, they had stumbled upon Terra, then Earth eons ago and had witnessed this interesting habit of humans to make decisions based on chance of a coin toss, but why would they be needing to make a coin toss now?
Drenzyk seemed to pick up on Draza'kar's confusion, "Heads, I take the Command Barge and you take the retinue. Tails, you take the Barge, I take the retinue." If Drazakar could, he'd be smiling, despite the monstrous and atrocious personality of Drenzyk, he sometimes wasn't that bad of a lord, pity one day he'd have to kill him...
The Tau were ready this time, knowing full well of the threat that was present on this planet and after some orbital observations, realized that if they successfully claimed two points on Deimos, they would be able to establish a nigh irremovable presence. The Necrons, however, were just as aware of the importance of these positions if not more so, one of these points was a Planetary Shield Generator and the other was it's power source. Both the Overlords were angered that they had seemed to have forgotten this defense mechanism, now it was time to activate these, which had to be done manually, thus the battle began...
The Tau were now aware of the presence of the Necrons and had chosen a spot from which they would be able to use pathfinders to markerlight the Necron force from atop a Canyon wall. However, despite their vigilance, the Necrons still struck first announcing their presence with a mighty blast from Mor'tza's Doomsday Ark immediately incinerating a firewarrior of the Tau ethereal's honor guard and a broadside as the rest of the Necron force immediately began pounding forward closing the gap between the forces. Having been aware of the Tau's every move, a force of wraiths alongside the recently awoken destroyer lord Abasi moved up onto the ledge sneaking up upon the unsuspecting pathfinder force. With them was Kryptix leading four Immortals, prepared to reclaim the Planetary Shield Generator which the pathfinders were dangerously close to. The Tau began an immediate retaliation firing volumes upon volumes of fire especially on Overlord Draza'kar with his entourage of lords and Mor'tza. And failed to do an ounce of damage, even with the markerlights the Pathfinders were able to drop upon them. That would be the last the Tau would hear from their pathfinders.
Abasi alongside his wraith escort swept down upon the Pathfinders moments later, the pathfinder never knew what hit them and by the time they attempted to make a run for it, it was all too late. Meanwhile Kryptix successfully was able to run his squad of immortals to the Shield Generator reclaiming it for the glory of the Nekthyst Dynasty. Down in the Canyon, Mor'tza let out a cruel cackling laugh as he released another devastating shot from his Doomsday Cannon wiping out the remainder of of the squad of broadsides of which the first he had slain was a part of. Meanwhile, Mr. T alongside 5 wraiths pounced upon a squad of vespids, quickly wiping them out. The tombstalker, a behemoth of metal, swooped upon a squad of piranhas quickly wrecking one. Drenzyk, upon his CCB swooped over a squad of firewarriors, lopping off three heads as he did so. Landing in front of the Tau's railgun hammerhead, and obviously dizzy, Drenzyk fired a tachyon arrow only to miss. Pissed at his failure to accomplish the task of hitting the hammerhead from three feet away, he hacked at and obliterated the hammerhead. Admist the slaughter going on, Draza'kar with the lords and crypteks moved in closer while the Lychguard ran on in ahead, hellbent on destroying the Broadsides with their annoying fire. The secondary squad of Immortals managed to claim the power source. All was going well, the Lords could only laugh at the slaughter going on before them, soon they'd have the shields up and become impervious to the planetary assault force that was moving into orbit. Then, what could only be considered as an arrogant oversight, disaster came looming close.
The Tau had a force of mercenary kroot that had snuck onto the flank of the battle, and when the group of Immortals led by Kryptix was left vulnerable when taking the Shield Generator, they struck. Two Immortals fell, never to arise, Kryptix feeling what could be called scraps of brotherhood and rage viciously struck back, striking down a kroot carnivore. Suddenly, the Necrons had fallen into dire straits. If they did not get the generator up and running soon, the Tau would have a fighting chance at establishing a forward position. The rest of the Tau however had a relatively lackluster performance succeeding only in debilitating a single Wraith, wounding the Tomb Stalker twice, and blowing up Drenzyk's CCB, a grave insult to Drenzyk and an err on the part of the Ethereal with his honor guard who were set as next on Drenzyk's prey list. No one blew up the CCB and got away with it, NO ONE. Quickly Drenzyk moved alone into combat against the Ethereal and his honor guard and along with the use of his favored mindshackle scarabs, cut down nigh half of the honor guard. The fools held their place not knowing only certain death awaited them.
Draza'kar saw the predicament that Kryptix's squad was in and ordered the wraiths and Mr. T to move in a crush the Kroot quickly before all was lost. Mr. T with his wraith squad flawlessly executed their orders but not before two more Immortals were struck down and Kryptix had knocked down another kroot. As Mr. T and the wraiths most assuredly saved the Tomb world from an unacceptable predicament, Crypteks Anhur and Intef who were alongside Draza'kar fired their eldritch lances at the remaining Piranha and both successfully erased the Piranha from existence, then alongside Draza'kar and the other lords, pounced upon a foolhardy group of firewarriors. The firewarriors were thrown into chaos as the mindshackle scarabs did their work in getting former friends to strike out against each other and both of the crypteks were able to cut down a firewarrior each. The firewarriors all dead, Draza'kar turned his attention to the closest of the two remaining broadside squads.
Meanwhile, Abasi with his wraiths and the Tombstalker assaulted the two crisis commanders and their bodyguards. These were clearly inexperienced commanders compared to the commanders of the last encounter with the tau as they fell swiftly to the assault of these combat monsters. After quickly dispatching these pathetic excuses for commanders, Abasi moved in to kill the devilfish that had belong to the pathfinders and the Tombstalker made a frightful dash towards the broadsides. Mor'tza, never having had a reason to move, lazily fired a beautiful shot that took down two broadsides, one from each of the two remaining squads of broadsides. The battle was swiftly back in the hands of the Necrons. However, the Tau made a last desperate attempt to weaken the Necron force at the least.
The Tombstalker never made it to it's intended target as the squads of broadsides and the remaining hammerhead unleashed a vicious volley that destroyed the tombstalker. And in a brilliant manuever, the Tau forces outflanked yet again, this time with a stealth team who were able to marker light Mor'tza. Fortune smiled upon Mor'tza however, as his quantum shielding held up against 4 seeker missiles and two shots from the stealth team's fusion blasters. Grinning his skeletal smile, Mor'tza turned his doomsday cannon upon the unfortunate stealth team and erased them from existence.
The Broadsides that had killed the Tombstalker only traded one terrible demise for another as the Lychguard and Draza'kar with his entourage assaulted these remaining two squads. Though the broadsides fought valiantly, it was to no avail and they fell. Abasi, with his nihilistic fanaticism, cut down the pathfinder devilfish ripping into the cockpit and ripping apart the crew. Drenzyk, outnumbered still by the ethereal and his honor guard, taught the foolish tau that though he was alone in assaulting them, he was in no way outmatched, and mercilessly finished his slaughter of the ethereal. All that was left now was one hammerhead, and like specters of inevitable death, the Necrons swarmed towards it....
(At this point my opponent gave up)
The Necrons stopped at the sound of something charginging up, something huge, something... powerful. Turning their attention from the remaining hammerhead, they looked behind them to see the planetary shield generator pulse once, twice, then in a blinding flash of green light, released a massive blast of energy towards the sky, the shield was in place. Looking towards the sky the Necrons saw multiple explosions as the Tau spacecraft were caught in the massive wave of the released energy that wiped them out. The tau force was no more, all but one hammerhead. When they turned their attention to the hammerhead, they witnessed the crew quickly stumble out with their hands up. Utter and complete surrender.
"Take them down below," said Draza'kar to the crypteks Anhur and Intef, "I think they'll make a fine new cape for me."
Odd One Out wrote:*Ahem* I think you're missing someone in that battle report...
Ahhhh yeah... I didn't have a Wraith that I could identify as you (like Kryptix has some simple green stuffing to identify hime from the rest of the Immortals) so it's just the wraiths. Don't worry, I will give you some sort of designation though.
Taloc, Harbinger of The Storm Taloc was always chaotic. But it got worse when he became a cryptek. Having the skies at his command didn't exactly help. When he came through, your house exploding was just as likely to happen as the sun was to rise. The Nekthyst dynasty saw the skill he had. If they ever had a problem with a noble Taloc would stroll in, all kind and nonchalant . After a sizable explosion the noble usually wasn't much trouble. When the transference came it had an unforeseen affect on him. His very body exuded the energy he commanded. This made him hazardous and a threat. Not to mention a special stasis chamber had to be constructed to contain him. Now that he has awoken he spreads his chaos amongst the enemy, punishing them for assaulting him and for anything seen offensive(also known as having that look ).
Hey guys, I'm thinking of a fluffy battle namely the incident mentioned in the necron codex where a deathwatch kill-team gets annihilated(implied) when entering the evershifting labyrinth of the Moebius Tombworld. And frankly, I need a bit of help setting it up so I'm looking for your opinion on how to do it. I know how I'm going to do the everchanging Labyrinth (though I'm open to suggestions) it's mainly what troops should both sides consist of. I figure with necrons it's just really wraiths and the tombstalker (if you think there should be more, please voice what you'd like to see), and have no idea how to build the deathwatch team. All input greatly appreciated!

He was once a simple farmer on a backwater world. When the biotransference came he gladly welcomed the change, and the ability to tear the enemies limb from limb in his new, deadly body. He did not care that only a glimmer of his mind would remain, but only that countless mortals shall die by his hands.
Funny you should mention the fluffy battle, I was just reading the Tomb World Awakens article here.
Here's a thought: have lots of terrain pieces, like giant walls and stuff, that move in set patterns each round. What's more, the labyrinth actively attempts to split up and mix up both armies, making it difficult to maintain any coherency (though I would imagine the Overlord in charge of it would have some control over it (5+ or something like that to manipulate it all).
It's amusing... I'm a SM Devastator, a Necron Overlord, a BT Emperor's Champion, an Eldar Warp Spider, a WoC Exalted Hero, and an IG stormtrooper. Amusing
Okay so I jotted down some of my ideas for fluffy battle, I apologize now if it seems scrambled, but here we go:
1. SM start in center of the board.
2. Board sides determined as North (N), West (W), East (E), and South (S)
3. End of every turn, roll D6 for each individual wall. On rolls of 1,2,or 3 the wall does not turn. On a roll of 4, 5, or 6 turn the wall 90 degrees. Walls may split squads.
4. All units gain IC 5. SM in same hallway w/ LOS must move towards each other.
6. Wraiths and TS are randomly placed throughout the maze and may not be placed within 12" of the SM. Their placement is determined by D6 as follows:
1=NW Quadrant
2=NE Quadrant
3=SW Quadrant
4=SE Quadrant
5/6=Reserve
7. SM Objective= escape labyrinth
8. Necron Objective = Kill SM (duh)
9. If a pair of seperated SM do not have LOS of each other, then dictate the SM movement as follows based on D6:
1=N
2=W
3=E
4=S
5/6=Choice
If they have LOS to exit, they may forego the chart and move towards exit. If movement in D6 determined direction is impossible, then you may choose which direction they move.
10. Wraiths and TS that come in via Reserve first must pass D6 roll to see if they may enter. If passed, determine which side they come in following the D6 chart below:
1=N
2=W
3=E
4=S
5/6=Choice
11. SM must start in squads (unless already an IC in rule book) and do not gain IC until their unit is broken up by wall movement.
12. At beginning of game Roll D6 for each SM squad, they gain one of the following:
1=Fleet
2=Relentless
3=Slow and Purposeful
4=Fearless
5=Stubborn
6=Nothing
13. At beginning of game Roll D6 for the Wraiths and TS. They all gain one of the following:
1=Hit and Run
2=Ambush! (When charging into assault, both sides must roll D6. Whoever rolls the highest strikes first on the initial assault. Ties = hit each other at the same time.
3=Furious Charge
4=Fleet
5=Preferred Enemy: Everything!
6=Nothing

This could be interesting...
No kidding. A three-way battle in the area, I can't wait to finish the Ghoul Stars Crusade.
Very nice ideas so far! I can already see this will be a very chaotic game to play (chaotic=FUN, of course). My questions is what's with the random gain special rule roll? Is there a reason in the fluff, or to make things more interesting?
Either way, Szalas will be most pleased with this.
As for the Second Damocles Crusade, I wouldn't necessarily count the Imperial Guard out of this. They do, after all, number in the tens of thousands.

That's too small. I intend to launch my Crusade with at least the same numbers I have at the Ghoul Stars. Ten Astartes Companies, at least five million Guardsmen and five hundred thousand vehicles, a thousand capital ships, and a Titan Legion with a full skitarii and naval/aviation wing.

12. At beginning of game Roll D6 for each SM squad, they gain one of the following:
1=Fleet (Worry begins taking it's toll as they dash about searching for the escape)
2=Relentless (Desperate times call for desperate measures as the SM try to take down as many of the Necron constructs before they die in the everchanging labyrinth)
3=Slow and Purposeful (Is that fear? SM become overly cautious hoping slow and quiet steps will draw less attention, what foolish hopes they have)
4=Fearless (Staring death in the face, rather then be overcome by worry *cough cough* FEAR *cough cough* the SM hold their ground, ready to fight to the last)
5=Stubborn (Similar to fearless, just to lesser extent)
6=Nothing
13. At beginning of game Roll D6 for the Wraiths and TS. They all gain one of the following:
1=Hit and Run (I think this one makes sense with how in the book Hellforged you see Wraiths striking then phasing through the wall then coming back and striking again)
2=Ambush! (When charging into assault, both sides must roll D6. Whoever rolls the highest strikes first on the initial assault. Ties = hit each other at the same time.) (This one, Necron constructs just simply have the element of surprise on their side as they can attack through walls and sneak up on prey while almost completely invisible)
3=Furious Charge (The lesser beings must not live!)
4=Fleet (Knowing that walls mean nothing to them and well aware of where their prey is, the Necron constructs rapidly advance to slaughter their prey)
5=Preferred Enemy: Everything! (Life is meaningless to Necron Constructs, thus must die unless ordered otherwise)
6=Nothing

We're going to need more if we're going to show the heathen Tau what it means to fight an Elder Race (Humans, Orks, Eldar, Necrons).
So guys, I was going to surprise you all with a battle report against GK... But the guy rage quit at turn 2 because an I2 army can't beat GK much less Draigo who was whip coiled and about to get time arrow'd by Mista TEEEEEE!!!! So I guess we can say we sent GK w/ Draigo literally packing.
Tadashi, I have a question ... maybe i am missing another thread somewhere but how do we go about joining your crusade? I am at work so kinda going back and forth between work non work ... im lost haha
That's ridiculous. You should refuse to play that guy ever again if he'll continue to whine like that.
Talarn: You actually do that here. There's no other thread. Page one shows what slots are available.
Hrud affecting Necrons...? Never read that anywhere, but I don't see why it wouldn't happen. Their fields they create effect anything, really. No limit to biological organisms only.
Lol at rage quit. See, I would have at least gone one or two more turns before throwing in the towel, depending on how well it was going.
So, think we'll see a suitable fluffy batrep?
The two armies made a mad dash at each other, The Grey Knights knew the Necrons were lacking when it came to close combat and wanted to close the distance as soon as possible. The Necrons, being led by Draza'kar blasted away at the Grey Knights, Mor'tza slaying 2 paladins with his doomsday cannon. However, the rest of the firepower turned out to be ineffective. The grey knights however, also had fairly bad luck, their storm bolters missed the Necrons entirely, but it mattered not, they just had to get into close combat....
Draigo, caught sight of wraiths and a C'tan shard attempting to pull a flanking maneuver, and with a wicked grin, charged into the group, overly confident in his plot armor, provided to him by the Chaos God known as Ward, (which was unknown to his brother Grey Knights) which had allowed him to smite greater daemons of the other gods and pwn a primarch, he felt that a mere shard of a god was no match. However, as he charged, he felt something... some metal tendrils wrap around him slowing him down... he had lost the element of surprise. Mr. T turned his attention to this champion of horrid fluff, and grinning wickedly bellowed, "I pity the fool!" And with a snap of his fingers, Draigo disappeared, not into the warp, but back to when time was not time. Back to before the beginning of everything, back to before the big bang.
The other Grey Knights witnessed as this enslaved god had seemingly erased Draigo... and turned coward, beating a hasty retreat back to their ships to get away from such a monster. Later, when asked why they had fled the field of battle, the Grey Knight commander shrugged and said, "They weren't daemons, so they're not our problem." Commissar Fuklaw happened to overhear the coward speak and personally executed the entire detail of grey knights that had retreated from the battle.

All you have to do is send a battle report, I'll edit it, and post it on the Crusade page.
I hope it's not too late for me to be a lord. If not here it is.
Name: Varguard Tahn'Zar the Invincible.
Occupation: to protect Drenzyk.
War gear: Warscyth, mindsackle scarabs.
Hates to have to put up with Drenzyk's Toying of minds and his stupid phase tech.
Welcome Varguard Tahn'Zar the Invincible. And you will put up with it whether you like it or not. At least no one has to worry anymore about me teleporting into my restroom stall which they happen to be occupying when I need to take a leak.
You're on the roster now, thought I did it yesterday. And you'll get to kill someone whenever I get into another battle, right now working on putting together a Deathwatch meets Tombworld Moebius's everchanging labyrinth fluffy battle which will only entail Wraiths and Tombstalker for the Crons.
A favorite prank of ours is to bring a sharpie to Anhur's armor so that his armor polishing becomes a task of Sisyphus. (But if he asks who did it, blame it on faulty Tomb World programming)
Okay, after many trials and errors... many many errors, i have the tombworld Moebius labyrinth mission all ready for a go. Remember, the whole point of this is to be unfair so all 10 wraiths and the tombstalker and 10 proxied scarab swarms are going to be munching on 10 Space Marines, 5 Terminators, and a proxied Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos.
Okay, so short of it is this, I'm in the hospital. I sustained a back injury which aggravated an old wrestling injury (damage to my entire spinal column) and parts of me are numb and in other parts (the vast majority) I can't feel pain. It's not permanent, they found what's wrong and I should be back up and running in maybe a week.

School and work, such a pain, no time for gaming right now (okay, so I could impede on my social life but no thanks) so everything is ready for a test run at the Labyrinth, just have no time.
Also I am up and running fine now.
Anyway, as I sit here currently bored with nothing really to do for an hour or two, I've decided to revise the current Necron fluff in a manner that will be more accepted by old and new Cron players. Here goes nothing:
Over many millenia, the Necrontyr, then still a young and aggressive race, grew to become a dominant force with a galaxy spanning empire. During their expansion, they had often encountered the Old Ones, ancient beings even then. The Old Ones were many in number then but preferred a nomadic lifestyle which allowed them and the Necrontyr to live in relative peace as the Old Ones had no territory to conquer. Their nomadic lifestyle suited them well as they went about the galaxy, finding overlooked planets that could support life but had little or none, and then creating intelligent beings similar to themselves in being in tune with the Warp. However, such a peace between this ancient race and the young hot blooded Necrontyr could not last. As the Necrontyr empire grew in size, the encounters between the two species greatly increased and the Necrontyr soon took notice of the longevity of the Old Ones. Being creatures damned to walk a brief life, the Necrontyr attempted to barter with the Old Ones for the secrets of their biological immortality. The Old Ones were unobliging. Being ancient and long lived, they moved through life with a cool temperament and few, if any, desires for things beyond their reach thus were unimpressed with the technological feats of the Necrontyr and had no need to barter with the Necrontyr. Perhaps the Old Ones would have eventually given consideration to the pleas of the Necrontyr if it were not for another factor; the Old Ones were disgusted by the mere presence of the Necrontyr, a species that had no connection nor presence in the Warp. The Fates had cast their die, the galaxy was doomed to burn.
The Necrontyr, their patience worn thin and their desperation for life consuming them, decided to launch ambushes upon some of the many small nomadic fleets of the Old Ones in order to capture and study them in hopes of discovering the secret to their seemingly limitless longevity. They, however, underestimated the power of the Warp and the Old Ones who wielded that power. The psychic screams of the Old Ones who were experimented upon resounded across the galaxy, alerting their brethren to their crisis. The Old Ones, normally slow to anger, quickly united, and in the defense of their brethren and protection of their own species, launched a war that of the likes would never be seen again. Thus what would come to be known as The War in Heaven began.
The War in Heaven
The Old Ones were well aware of the technological marvels the Necrontyr were capable of and knew a direct march against the Necrontyr Empire would place the odds against themselves. They found their answer in the Webway, an amazing piece of technology in itself, it was a subspace, a sprawl of tunnels that lay between the Warp itself and reality that allowed one the ability to cross the span of the galaxy within a blink of an eye. Herein lie the key to the Old Ones' initial victory. Using the Webway, the Old Ones launched a series of surprise assaults upon the very worlds ruled by the Necrontyr, decimating planet after planet before the might of the Necrontyr military could be brought to bear. For two solid centuries, the Necrontyr were damned to fight a defensive war that they could not hope to win. In hopes of retaining their empire, they tried to press for peace with the Old Ones sending ambassadors to plead on their behalf. It was all for naught. The Old Ones, as slow as they were to anger, were equally, if not more so, slow to allay. There was no room for mercy for the Necrontyr.
Ceasefire
The light of hope against the Old Ones' relentless onslaught lay within the minds of a now forgotten group of Necrontyr scientists known as crypteks. These crypteks had been studying and experimenting upon the few Old Ones that the Necrontyr had been able to abduct and had stumbled upon the discovery of the Warp and through further interrogation, the Webway. Understanding the nature of the Warp and what the Warp truly is, they abandoned the project for immortality, as what use is long life if they could not stay or counter the devastating campaign of the Old Ones? Now, they began trying to discover a method wherein they could take away from the Old Ones their source of power. After many experiments and the deaths of all the Old Ones the Necrontyr held, these crypteks had successfully created an arcane engine that could severe the connection between reality and the Warp. Quickly, the Necrontyr erected massive obelisks that housed these arcane devices upon the meager few worlds they were now crowded upon and successfully created a relatively small sphere of influence in which the Old Ones could no longer access the Warp. The advance of the Old Ones had been halted, within the Warp dead sphere of influence of the Necrontyr, the Old Ones had lost their one key advantage, now they began patrolling the new border of the Necrontyr empire, ready to pounce upon any Necrontyr ship that dare stray across the invisible line. The war had been brought to a pause.
The Era of Despair
The Necrontyr were not given much time to relax, though now safe from the Webway borne assaults, they now faced a grave internal crisis that threatened to finish what the Old Ones started. The entire Necrontyr race was trapped in the area of real space they had severed from the Warp, any vessel that tried to leave the area was quickly destroyed by the Old Ones and now increasing amounts of the races the Old Ones had created including the Eldar. Being thus trapped upon a few increasingly overcrowded worlds and vessels, the Necrontyr now faced a silent enemy they had long since forgotten of: Famine. Quickly dissent grew within the Empire and soon Dynasties began rebelling and striking out at one another in hopes of gathering enough resources to sustain themselves. The Triarch, the triumvirate of Necrontyr Lords that ruled the Empire, could only sit by and watch silently, quietly cursing the Old Ones as did all Necrontyr. Utter destruction loomed upon the horizon for the Necrontyr and all seemed hopeless and lost. But in this dark hour, the crypteks once again found a ray of hope, the C'tan.
Coming of the C'tan
The crypteks had turned to the stars with desperation in search for a method in which they could save the Necrontyr. Somehow, they discovered the C'tan, immortal behemoths of cosmic energy that feasted upon the stars, and somehow, they were able to attract the attention and interest of these beings who had gone through billions of years of only moving from star to star in search of sustenance. The crypteks were convinced that they had discovered the gods themselves, and in order to better interact with these star gods, they crafted necrodermis shells that could house the immense essence of the C'tan. The C'tan soon learned of the plight of the Necrontyr and like gracious gods, went out and pacified the Dynasties, seemingly pulling out from thin air all the resources the Necrontyr were desperate for and more. After quelling the insurrections, the C'tan sent one of their own, now known as the Deceiver, to speak to the Triarch and
So far, this seems to be better written than the somewhat decent fluff Ward gave us. Here, the Necrons have a better reason to fight against the Old Ones than "we just need a common enemy to fight". My only complaint is too many sentences starting with "Thus". It's a problem I had with Ward's writing, and I would ask if you could just tweak it. Otherwise, looks good so far.

After quelling the insurrections, the C'tan sent one of their own, now known as the Deceiver, to speak to the Triarch who had become known as the Silent Kings for their inability to do anything when their people were caught up in utter despair. The Deceiver wove a tale of tragedy of the C'tan, that they were once a race like the Necrontyr, doomed to walk a brief existence who found hope in the seemingly immortal beings the Necrontyr knew as the Old Ones. Just like the Necrontyr, the had attempted to barter for the secrets to immortality but the Old Ones would have none of it and had viciously attacked them in a war that doomed the C'tan to extinction. The C'tan however, found a ray of hope when a scientist of theirs had discovered a way to both gain the immortality they so longed for and an escape from elusive yet deadly Old Ones in the forms they held now. Alas, only a few million had been able to obtain this form of energy when the Old Ones had come about in full force and in one decisive blow, had wiped out the billions of C'tan that had yet to obtain such godhood including the genius who had made the current form the C'tan held possible. The Triarch were deeply moved by this tale, not knowing the deceitful nature of the C'tan. The Deceiver, well aware that the Triarch were now pawns to the C'tan brought forth a plan that would ensnare the Triarch and damn the entirety of the Necrontyr Race.
The Heavens Burn
The Deceiver, after telling the false tale of the C'tan to the Triarch, then offered a deal that the Triarch could not refuse. The C'tan were thirsty for vengeance and with their knowledge of real space and the numbers and technological prowess of the Necrontyr, it would be possible for them to bring the Old Ones to justice once and for all. In return for their revenge, the C'tan would gather their best minds to try and discover a way in which the Necrontyr could ascend to immortality. The secrets of how to ascend to the level of the C'tan were lost, the Deceiver said, but he was certain that his brethren would be fully capable of discovering a way to give the Necrontyr a different form in which they would obtain the long life they were so desperate to have. The Triarch were overjoyed, it seemed that the Fates had finally chosen to graciously reward the Necrontyr race after millenia upon millenia of what had seemed to be fruitless struggle. If they had only known then what so many of their kind know now.
With the wealth of knowledge of the C'tan and their reality altering powers, the Necrontyr launched a new assault upon the Old Ones. With the knowledge provided by the C'tan, the crypteks of the Necrontyr were able to construct faster than light engines that could compete with the lightning speed of the Webway. Rapidly, the Necrontyr were able to advance and reclaim the empire that had once been theirs with the help of the C'tan who could annihilate entire fleets of the Old Ones within moments. However, the Old Ones had allies of their own in their creations such as the Eldar and the Krork and quickly brought to bear the immense numbers of these creatures in tune with the Warp. Once again the galaxy was set ablaze in a bloody standstill between the immense might of the weaponry of the C'tan and the Necrontyr and the raw numbers of the Old Ones and their creation along with their Warp spawned powers. For decades the galaxy burned in a flame of war that seemed to never falter and would go on forever, but every war must come to an end.
The Birth of the Necrons
The breakthrough in the war came when the Deceiver proclaimed to the Triarch that they had found a way to grant immortality to the Necrontyr race, if the Necrontyr were willing to give up their flesh, the C'tan would then place the essence of the Necrontyr into bodies of living metal much like the ones the C'tan themselves now inhabited in which they would be able to recover from all but the most devastating injury within moments. These shells also had a series of back up systems so in the event that a Necrontyr was damaged beyond the recovery capabilities of the necrodermis, the scraps of their body as well as their mind would be teleported back to a factory in which their conscious would enter a new body. The Triarch were greatly pleased and sent out a verdict to the Necrontyr to inhabit these new immortal bodies. Many came willingly in joy of eternal life. Few others rebelled as it was not the form of immortality that they had wished for but were quickly subdued and forced into the roaring furnaces the C'tan had constructed to transfer the minds of the the Necrontyr. Little did the Necrontyr know that they had in fact been betrayed by the C'tan.
The Necrontyr could not have known that when they inhabited these bodies of metal, they had surrendered their will and life essence to the C'tan. The C'tan had always planned to enslave the Necrontyr but during the war they had discovered a tasty morsel the raging stars they had fed on for so long could not compare to. The essence of life. The C'tan had stumbled upon this discovery quite by accident when destroying a large fleet of the Old Ones when one of their kind had detected some form of energy leaving the bodies of the Old Ones, snatching it up, the star god had discovered a delicious treat that invigorated his entire being and increased his powers greatly. For years he had hidden this secret from his brethren until he believed he had reached a point that would be untenable by his brethren. Then did he reveal this secret to the other C'tan who in glee joined him in his feasting of the essence of life, this C'tan was none other than the Void Dragon. It was the Deceiver however, who brought to the attention of the C'tan that their allies, the Necrontyr, were in fact a meal in waiting. The C'tan then had almost turned upon the Necrontyr except for that the Deceiver also pointed out that they could easily be turned into legions forever bound to their will. Thus did the C'tan devise the bodies the Necrontyr, now Necrons, would inhabit stripping them of their life essence while giving them that immortality the had been so desperate to obtain. The C'tan had also realized that they only needed the minds of the most capable of the Necrons, but they needed these minds to remain loyal to themselves. From here they crafted a devious plot in which they inserted a program into every Necron body that would override the will of the Necron when given commands by their new masters that the Necrons would be unable to detect as they would think it was their own choice to follow the advice of the C'tan. As to not arouse suspicion early on, all the Necrons were allowed to retain their minds, but even here the C'tan had come up with a scheme that would only allow the most brilliant and capable minds to be retained. In the bodies inhabited by the average citizens of the Necrontyr, their minds would slowly decay into those of subservient slave with no will of their own and an incapability to think for themselves. The soldiers the C'tan believed needed to be able to make decisions but had no need for individuality nor personality and their bodies were infused with a program to slowly destroy that. Those of higher rank and intelligence the C'tan left them their personalities to varying degrees to allow them to be able to still be effective upon the field of battle. With their new Necron slaves, the C'tan began a bloody harvest of life in the galaxy.
A Galaxy in Ashes
With the bodies of living metal the Necrons now possessed and the ever growing powers of the C'tan, the Old Ones were thrown into desperation. They began creating life forms to counter the Necrons such as the technologically savvy Jokaero, but it was all for naught.Over many millenia, the Old Ones were pushed towards extinction and desperate measures. They disappeared into the Webway, a safe haven they were certain in which they were unreachable by the likes of the Necrons and the C'tan, and began working on one last desperate project to counter the C'tan.
With the Old Ones gone, much of the galaxy was damned and entire species were annihilated by the C'tan and their slaves. Knowing the Old Ones had hid away in the space beyond space, the put their minds as well as the best minds of the crypteks together in order to discover a way to break into the Webway. After many years, they created the Dolmein Gates, a technological masterpiece that allowed the C'tan to rip into the Webway and chase down the Old Ones. The Old Ones, knowing full well that defeat and extinction were close at hand, set their project into motion. When the last of the Old Ones fell, a powerful psychic scream was released across the Warp birthing god like beings and planting seeds for more to come in the ensuing chaos that engulfed much of the Warp. The chaos resulted in Enslavers, beings that naturally live within the Warp, bursting through the boundary that seperates reality from the Warp, feasting upon the minds and souls of those in tune with the Warp, driving them into hiding. The C'tan soon realized that the Old Ones had devised a plan in which if they were to die, they would also take away from the C'tan their source of food, the galaxy had become a wasteland with hardly any life left.
The Long Sleep
The C'tan, though tremendously enraged at having been foiled by the Old Ones in their death, were not in a state of panic. Being the ethereal creatures they were, they had been born when the universe was created and knew that life would bloom once more from the ashes of the galaxy, for that was the very nature of life itself. Quickly they and their Necron servants constructed tombworlds throughout the galaxy in which they would slumber until the galaxy was once more filled with life ripe for another harvest. Suddenly, the galaxy was at peace. Those who arose from the ashes first were the Eldar and the Krork, and soon new life began to grow once. They would have millions of years to themselves before the Necrons would arise to plague the galaxy once more.
Oh hell no, get rid of the C'tan? No way (i love them too much to do such a thing), I know right now it looks like it's going the route of the Old fluff(ish) with this being sorta of appearing like how the old Cron codex was more Codex: C'tan, BUT I have something much more different in mind which will keep the individuality of the Necron lords and dynasties, the urge of some to find a way to reverse the biotransference as well as the progress made, the nihilistic kill/harvest all life attitude of others, and keep both the C'tan shards and C'tan.
Remember, I'm trying to keep the guys who played old crons for the fluff happy (like me, some of the new fluff is very irritating) while still being enticing to the newbies who, well, I'm not saying hopped aboard the bandwagon but for a current lack of a better term, hopped aboard the bandwagon.
Nice! Good job on keeping the FTL ships, I couldn't really fathom why they wouldn't have that sort of thing in the new 'dex.
So, I await to see how you keep both C'Tan and the Shards alive through all this.
After millions of years of slumber, the Necrons began to stir, making themselves known to the galaxy once more. The Awoken Lords discovered a galaxy teeming with life and war, and that they indeed had not been able to purge the galaxy of the warp tainted scum they so deeply had grown to loathe. The waking Necrons quickly began reestablishing their empire, taking back what was their from the warp tainted scum, the creations of the Old Ones. The galaxy, already quaking with violence, precariously teetering on the edge of utter collapse, had now a new menace to face.
Splitting of the Empire
As the Necrons awoke, they discovered their godly masters remained asleep. Try as they might, the Necrons could not waken the C'tan. After a prolonged time of operating without the C'tan, the protocols the C'tan had implanted in the Necrons - which bent their will to the C'tan - shut down in many of the Necrons. Suddenly regaining their willpower, the overall empire of the Necrons began splitting. Some loathed their bodies of living metal, preferring their old mortal bodies of flesh to the callous cold metal bodies they had now, and began recruiting crypteks to find a way to reverse the biotransference. Some had found their bodies to be a great boon, the pinnacle of evolution even. However, they were as disturbed and enraged as their brethren who craved the old bodies of flesh at the C'tan for imprisoning and destroying their minds. Others decided to remain in line with the will of the C'tan afterall, who were they to question the wisdom of such ancient and powerful gods? However, for every Necron Lord that had regained their will and mind, there was another that remained bound to the C'tan's will, a massive relentless wave of merciless slaughter.
The Sleeping Gods
In their initial search for a way to awaken the C'tan, the crypteks had stumbled upon a way in which they could isolate relatively small shards of the essence of the C'tan and forcefully awaken them. With this technology now in hand, the many dynasties began utilizing it for their many purposes. Some enslaved these shards as their entirety had done to them, using them as weapons against the warp tainted creatures of the galaxy. Though nowhere near as powerful as a C'tan as a whole, these shards remained as devastating as ever to the enemies of the Necrons. Other Lords had their crypteks begin to break apart the sleeping C'tan, imprisoning the broken up essences in the tesseract labryrinthes, inescapable dimensional prisons. However, those that still follow the will of the C'tan use the shards in order to fight alongside their masters and lead them into battle like the days of old.
Nonetheless, no matter how much of the essence of the C'tan has been seperated from the whole, they remain sleeping with no sign of stirring. Whether this was by accident or design, no one knows. Some say it was a boon from the fates to reverse their betrayal unto the C'tan. Others say that the C'tan are well aware of the situation of the galaxy and have deemed it not yet ripe for a new red harvest. Few speculate that the gods are waiting until the Spawn of the Old Ones have succeeded in wiping themselves out before waking and creating a galaxy they see fit for themselves. Whatever the reason may be, there is one thing the Necrons are certain of; the C'tan will sleep for many more millenia.

I quite agree.
By the way, King Pariah, if it's no trouble at all, could you do something like this for the Tau? I mean, no one (apart from Tau fans, of course) really believes that the Tau Empire really looks like what it looks in the Codex. Just by reading between the lines there's something implicitly wrong with the Tau Empire, just as how the Imperium and other, more grimdark factions aren't really as bad as the Codex makes them sound.
That was unexpected. My only question is how do the C'Tan who are fragmented not awake? Shouldn't they be screaming and writhing in pain from the process? Or is this due to some arcane science not easily explained? The unawakened C'Tan, I can guess, would be a perfectly plausible reason why some dynasties and Overlords would fight each other, one trying to preserve their master, while the other wishing to exploit the Star God's raw powers.
Bravo, King Pariah. I could easily accept this as official Necron fluff. Now, try and get a writing job at GW to make this canon!

The unawakened fragmented C"tan I'm leaving to arcane science, it was really the only suitable compromise I could see in order to keep the C'tan and the shards as well.
Anyway, thank you, I wish GW would hire me, that would be pretty damn nice.
IHateNids wrote:And make the tau not stuck in that pipsquek size area
I agree the area is a bit underwhelming especially when compared to some insectoid bee/wasp-like race that though "contained" have an empire which in itself puts to shame the Tau empire. I'm thinking that with the number of races that the Tau Empire has, it should be more than just a dot on the galactic map, not exactly huge mind you, but a fair size for a young ambitious empire.
Hey I was wondering if you were still accepting characters if you are then I'll take one of the deathmarks
Shado'au
A deathmarks that remains loyal to the c'tan and wishes to awaken the void dragon.
Sorry for the bio I'm not very good at them
Sorry Bud, but this thread has long since been abandoned and I'm actually in the process of "rebuilding" my Necron and CSM forces. Maybe when I'm done with those I'll put up a (or two) "join my army" thread(s).
